Remember Ukraine's Reformers

We should do more to remember Davil Sakvarelidze and Vitaliy Kasko, the young optimists who tried to prosecute corruption in Ukraine back in 2014-6, but who were stymied by that corrupt ball of sick Viktor Shokin.

Many of us, especially Americans, get so caught up in refuting the Biden conspiracy theories about Shokin's outster that we forget to honor Ukrainians fighting the good fight against oligarchs' abuses, Russian influence, and other forms of corruption.

After the war, your fine example will be the backbone of Ukraine's bright future.

А скажите мне на милость, пані та панове : ну как путин мог не напасть на всю Украину в феврале 2022-го года от Р.Х.?? Как?!

Видя, какой дичайший лохотрон провернул беня карабас-барабас в демократичной (при предыдущем президенте) стране!

Видя, как три четверти электората повелись на дешевую телевизионную кремлёвско-каломойскую ху#ту!

Как миллионы взрослых людей залюбки проглотили детскую наживку про "х#йового порошенка" - и, с визгом и кайфом, поскакали голосовать за клоуна, клятвенно пообещавшего обнаружить"мир в глазах путина"!

(То есть, повели себя абсолютно как их телезомбированные собратья по разуму из-за поребрика. Как совершенные их братья-близнецы.)

И вот как он (обобщенный путин) после всего этого мог не напасть?! 

��а никак. Не было у него таких шансов. Он был обречён на полномасштабное вторжение. Иначе колесо сансары перемололо бы его за малодушие.

И он, естественно, напал.

Но вдруг получил п#зды.

Доверчивые лохи вдруг оказались со здоровенными кулаками. И они сказали ему : "Слышь, чувак - это наш цирк. Мы сами здесь развлекаемся. Нам чужие клоуны в нашем шапито не нужны. Мы их шуток не понимаем. Да и шутишь ты не смешно, извини. В общем, вали отсюда, пока цел. И пока бензопомойка твоя цела."

Представляю, как все эти "путины" там о#уели. Это был переворот их нехитрого сознания. Параллельная реальность, которую они напряженно сооружали два десятка лет, и в которую вбухали дикую прорву бабла - вдруг рассыпалась в момент, как детский замок из песка.

И как теперь из всего этого выпутываться, одному чёрту известно.

Но это уже совсем другая история. И закончится она совсем не так, как её замышлял дряхлый триумвират, застрявших в прошлом веке, кремлёвских сценаристов - "господ" путина-патрушева-бортникова.

И конец этой кровавой авантюры станет началом новой мировой истории - без последней на земле горе-"империи". 

Без неё воздух на планете станет свежее. Слава богу.

Ця історія почнеться з кінця. З останніх слів, що я йому, вже декілька місяців мертвому, сказала. Зі слів, котрі він ніколи не почує. А закінчиться тим, що ми були щасливі, незважаючи на все лайно навколо. Хеппі енди ж все ще діють за якесь правило для обраних. Для тих, хто любить рожеві окуляри. І рожевих слоників мабуть. І кошенят. З цього переліку я люблю тільки кошенят, і те не завжди. Втім, людям завжди приємно знати, що якщо історія починається з трешу - закінчиться вона як солоденька цукерка. Так так, навіть персональна історія кожного життя - бо ми ж всі знаємо, що ми помремо, але чудово навчились це ігнорити. Тому я трохи пост іронічно слідую канону. 

Останні слова штука не проста, навіть якщо вони і не будуть почуті. Їх треба обирати ретельніше, ніж сукню на перше побачення. Чи ніж робочий проект.

Life goes on for the world, but for Ukrainians, it never will be the same

Farewell to Taras Onyskiv. Azov. The son of a Hero is presented with the flag of Ukraine, the country for which his father died. Glory to Heroes🇺🇦

There is nothing fair about war. We have to remind ourselves of this too often, especially when young people die.

As today, when a medic who started his career in the ranks of the Hospitallers, 21-year-old Oleksandr Kucheriavenko, call sign "Kuzma", died while performing a mission.

Died saving others. According to the battalion's press service, Kucheryavenko had recently mobilized to the Defense Forces.

"A man with an incredibly keen sense of justice. A professional who has worked at all levels of pre-hospital care. An idealist who was always where he had to be. A hospitalist to whom more than one Ukrainian soldier owes his life. A man his mother and bride were proud of and loved. A comrade-in-arms whom we miss.

He lived, loved, and fought. He died saving the lives of others. We will never be able to comprehend this incredible loss for Ukraine, the Battalion, his fellow L20 crewmates, and family," - this is how Oleksandr's brothers and sisters-in-arms, who together evacuated wounded soldiers in 2023 and 2024 as part of the L20 Hospitaller crew, remember him. "Young, hot-tempered, he was one of those who found his calling early on. And he followed it to the end, despite fatigue, pain, and loss," emphasized Yana Zinkevych.

Oleksandr Kucheryavenko died on May 14, 2024, while providing aid to the wounded.

I opened a bank account (in my mother's monobank) for those who want to help our family.

The worst thing is that my mother is crying now and saying, "We asked you to stay, but we couldn't save one of them, even if you had." And, of course, she is right. Mykola had the right to demobilize after Pasha's death, but he didn't want to.

These losses cannot be accepted. It is indeed a black spring for Ukraine. Don't be indifferent. Make Russia pay. I’m also surprised at the whole thing with Endeavor’s career being “over” and him “taking the fall for Dabi” or whatever.

Guys.

THE MAN HAS KILLED ALL FOR ONE.

He lost his dominant arm to defeat the nation’s worst villain. He’s a war veteran who saved the country. “Dabi” is old news - it’s been a while since the reveal, and the whole time, as soon as he got out of the hospital, Endeavor has been fighting. Logically, he should be at the peak of his clout! He did something even All Might was not able to do. There is no way in hell, after removing the biggest stressor in every person’s life, he would still be dragged by most people for his past behavior. Especially given that he never denied his wrongdoings and has shown remorse. To a regular person, the very sight of Endeavor should bring relief, just like the sight of All Might used to. You know the man will sacrifice a limb to save you and risk his life - because he’s done that before.

Additionally, after All for One confessed to taking Touya and messing with his body, it should be clear that he had his hand in the making of Dabi. Endeavor didn’t make his (adult) son “kill 30 innocent people” any more than Shigaraki’s dad made him ruin cities and decay heroes.

Last but not least, Endeavor is a big-time dilf.

Yes, it sounds super unserious, but think about real-life media, the public, and fame. He’s a tall, good-looking, physically fit man with a sexy job, unusual hair color and rare eye color who wears a skintight outfit and has a powerful, impressive-looking quirk. When a famous person is attractive, they get away with shit a lot more easily.

Look at real-life MHA fans: who’s simping for ReDestro? No one. Now who’s simping for Dabi? Everyone.

This really isn’t reflected well in the manga or anime, Endeavor is depicted like some scary guy people avoid, but if you look at how real people behave, that’s not realistic. There would be simps galore, apologists, fans chasing him asking for stupid shit like “please yell at me,” “I want to have your babies,” or “please set me on fire,” people flashing him their boobs, people selling and buying Endeavor body pillows, accounts with pictures of his ass, etc. All this shit would only get more intense after the defeat of AFO and would contribute to Endeavor’s public approval score.

So no, I don’t think there’s a big scandal or that it makes sense for him to retire for something other than health or personal convictions.

Letter from the front

💔 A Ukrainian poet and soldier, Maksym Kryvtsov, was killed by Russians at the front. He first volunteered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014. After the full-scale Russian invasion began in 2022, he returned to its ranks to defend Ukraine.

Just yesterday, Maksym posted a photo with his new poetry book called "Poems from the loophole". It was recognised by PEN Ukraine, an NGO protecting freedom of speech and authors' rights, as one of the best Ukrainian books of 2023.

Shortly before his death, Maksym also posted a photo with his ginger cat on Instagram. The cat, to whom he had dedicated a poem, died with him.

Russia keeps killing Ukrainian poets and trying to destroy our culture. The evil must be held accountable for every crime, every life, and every word taken away.

"For any English speaking viewers: this song "A barrel on fire" is a remake of an old Ukrainian folk song "A pine tree on fire", which was about a girl preparing to get married and to start a less frivolous life. Don't ask me why the flaming pine tree – it's symbolic somehow, but I don't get it myself. This modern version is basically also a folk song, as it was written collectively by protesters during the Maidan Revolution. The lyrics of "A barrel on fire" are about people gathering around fires in barrels on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square in Kyiv) in cold winter months during the protests, sharing food, tea and coffee, giving each other warmth and support."
