Personality: Is mostly quiet, almost totally nonverbal as a baby. Is completely clingly with Clay to the point of constantly staying in his hair. If you don't know where Sprout is, high chances are they are napping or hanging around in Clay's hair, sometimes in his arms if they have to be out. They are a very wild and feral baby. Klaxon is the wild child, Sprout is the feral baby. Get too close if you're not Clay, and Sprout is biting down on you with their sharp, dagger-like teeth then laughing right afterwards. Gareth’s voice felt distant, drowned out by the sound that had been distracting Eddie since he stepped foot into the cafeteria. His eyes were fixed on the table a few feet away from his own domain. sooo I see a lot of people on the internet who don’t really know where to start when it comes to stuff like this and im bored and want to yap so im making this post instead of doing my math homework!

DISCLAIMER: I am not saying that you absolutely have to follow these word for word, and I am not a master at diying/sewing/whatever else and there’s probably more efficient ways out there, so if there’s anything here that’s wrong or i should change, please lmk!

materials:

needle(s)+thread - for sewing (by hand!) usually these are dirt cheap at any craft store or the dollar store, or you can ask your friends/family for any they can give you. if you’re gonna buy some, any polyester thread will do. for needles, i recommend sharps because they’re great if your just starting out and for general use as well.

fabric - i started out on whatever fabric i had, google recommends cotton but if you don’t have that, it’s fine. to obtain said fabric, you can sacrifice some old clothes or ask around for unwanted clothes from people you know. thrift stores are also great, you can pick out a random shirt and cut it up

measuring tape - for measuring of course, great if you’re making clothes or tailoring them

seam ripper - change my life forever! way way easier than using scissors, saves a lot of time

fabric scissors - to cut fabric

fabric pencil - to mark your fabric for where you wanna cut/sew/anything else

box cutter - cutting boxes/cardboard, i also use these for paper to make stencils for patches. this is great for a lot of projects but scissors work just fine too!

YOU DONT ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE ALL OF THESE (except a needle and thread, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to sew) you can use whatever you have, these are just items that might make your life a little easier.

you don’t have to break bank on all the fancy stuff, whatever you can obtain works

how do i learn?:

the internet is your best friend, youtube tutorials help a bunch when you’re learning, as well as for learning how to do certain projects

maybe someone in your life likes to diy, you could ask them to teach you a couple things! my mom taught me how to sew, embroider, and crochet, learning from other people really helps!

and of course, practice! you don’t have to practice for hours everyday, just whenever you have time or whenever you feel motivated is fine! obviously you’re not going to be perfect immediately, I struggled a lot when I started but eventually you will get the hang of it. patience is key, don’t give up!

some basic stuff to learn: back stitch, running stitch, ladder stitch, blanket stitch

these are all some very common stitches that you will probably use at least once, they’re also pretty easy so i recommend starting with these

TW: minor mentions of alkochol use; some weird possesive acting?

Second of all i have a problem and this problem isn't even mine. So few weeks ago a sended you an ask about my friend who had been breaking the boundaries. I talked with him and we are all good again that was just an missuderstanding of some sort. But now there is a different thing and i'm not sure what to do. For me the school year started on september first (high school a scary scary place to be) and we both went to different schools. We are friends with oposite gender so i often hear we will end up together or we get nasty comments while walking fown the street with each other. Its not a possibility bcz im a girl kisser (and a nb person but thats a side note). He recently introduced me with his classmate (lets call her katie). Well, katie seemed really nice at first and i really thought that she is a good person, since they are flirting and its starting to become a situationship of some sort. I thought she treated him well and wasn't like his last girlfriend (she had some things going on with alcochol and tried to push him into it with her) which in my country is unfortunatelly a very usuall thing (most of people my age are alcocholics) (im not even 16). So yeah she seemed cool and was very friendly. It was untill i mentioned i have an ex (in my lauguage you have a gendered word for it so it was obiviously about a girl) and she was off. I aprecieted that Sam (lets call the guy bestie that) didn't outed me without my knowlege but i wouldn't mind if he mentioned it to her as a form of reasurence we dont have a romantic friendship thats so pupularised by the media. After i told her i dated girls she became dry and distant. Nasty comments and would clinge to Sam harder then before. I don't really get the reaction but after the meating ended and i got home i noticed he blocked me on facebook (so we couldn't talk by messanger). I texted him on instagram where i was unblocked with a question why he blocked me. I understand this could be an honest mistake so i want agressove passesive or anything. He answered me that katie decided he shouldnt meet me anymore and blocked me on his phone before she left?????? I thpught this was weird. At first i thought she was a homophobe but it soon became a false statemnet bc she is bi. I had exstra classrs with sam today anf he said she became really snapy and was activly hating on me to him. I dont really knoww what to do bcz as far as he told me she reacted similar after meeting every single on of his frriends after any minor mentions of having a parter or an ex. Im not sure what it means and also im kinda worried she will try to isolate him from his friends, bcz he is an exstravery anf that would have a pretty bad inpact on him. Do you have any ideas what to do? I tried to talk to him but he really likes her and doesn't see anything weird in the way she acts. Maybe im the one who is imagining things???

Honestly, I would ask some of his other friends of they're seeing similar things happen. If they are, you should all get together and gently talk to him. It sounds like she's trying to pull him away from his friends and that's not cool. He needs to hear from multiple people that this isn't okay. Don't make him feel ganged up on, but make it clear that it's not just you feeling this way, you know?

RAHHHH TYSM FOR ASNWERING MY PREVIOUS QUESTION!

So. I had 3 problems-

1. Constant study but no results

>I make sure I atleast spend 2 hours atleast twice a week doing full body or partial body sketches with references (from lineofaction🔥), and have been since 2021, but going from barely any art ability to now, all i've managed to do is drawing things from the neck up☠️ No matter how many different kinds of faces or perspectives i try its always the 3/4 side view. And i can barely even draw a recognizable jawline😭 (but then on any whiteboard or public art thing its as if the spirit of a medieval master artist possesses me)

2. motivation

>how on this earth do you stay motivated to draw your favorite fandoms😭 theres tons of shows i LOVE or games that I adore, whos characters i literally am obsessed with, but once i pick up a pencil its as if I've never seen them in my entire life💀

3. I know youre not really an oc artist (understandable, if I had the ability to draw genshin and/or persona characters forever, i WOULD.) But if you do have any, is there any specific place you got inspo from? a lot of art advice i see is to turn an object or concept into a character of some sort, but no matter where I look, and how inspiring it is, as previously stated, all traces of muscle memory delete themselves the second i pick up a pencil☠️

1 - maybe doing some theory rather than drawing could help you, if you study the human skeleton and muscle you might understand more how the body works and therefore how it must look in different poses (read MORPHO). Other advice is to trace your references with basic shapes and landmark (just a cube and a cross for the face) and then do your study, you can also do quick studies focusing on only one part of the body but draw it under all angles (the thing is to not rush, if you have trouble drawing the face as a whole, draw all the element separated and add them little by little)

2 - this honestly depends on the person, im someone who loves fandom art but i have zero OCs because im not interested, dont force yourself to draw things you dont want too it usually ends up looking bad anyway !

3 - i do look at objects first when doing character design, but i also like to look at plants or in fashion history books. Most of the time i first do a global search on pinterest to find the general idea and then go to more specific sites depending on what im going for

i think you should take your time and draw only when you're in the mood for it, when you feel motivated pick up a pen and DONT THINK just draw whatever

remember art takes time, patience and a lot of practice, dont force yourself and draw for yourself first ^^

Well my random opinions after experiencing zero time dilemma for the second time (spoilers under the cut)

In summary this game is so good is some parts but such a let down in others but still i fucking love it and i wish we could get more lmao

- the time and moral dilemmas mechanic are ao good they are so fun!!! I always loved that of the game and now i remember how good they were

-i think "the bad guy was behind the camera all along" is one of the shittiest plot twist i have ever seen, and now that i know i hate checking all the references and consistences and foreshadow it had. Like that makes it worse somehow fkfkfkfk i love the plot twist in 999 and vlr and i know some dont like the one in vlr but i think they work cause its both a surprise for the charas and for yourself. This is like. Why is zero hiding from the audience cmon

- i used to think mira wasnt interesting but now gosh. I actually really like her? I usually love murder gals and i think thats the less interesting thing about her, but i love her calm attitude and patience explaining stuff she has a very cool personality that i think gets overlooked by very meh murder reasons imo

- i also appreciate sean more now he is a cutie, i played the first time in japanese jut the english voice actor does an excellent job too

- complex motives will always make me laugh

- i weep for akane writing cause she is so interesting and fascinating and this was our chance to see The Real Her but is just?? Skill isn't necessarily set in age. You can start at any age, it doesn't really matter! Anyone can draw, as long as they have time and minimal resources! Sure, your art gets "better" by time and gets easier the more you do it and the better resources you have, but as long as you have the mind of an artist and a smidge of patience, your art will improve and follow you through your life. 🫶

And THANK YOU for acknowledging the edit I made about unwhitewashing tbb! I think it's important to show humans for who we really are. You can't just take away someone's culture and ethnicity and pretend it doesn't exist. Diversity is important and beautiful and shouldn't be taken away. Especially not to make a person more "appealing" or "better." And also that you shouldn't ignore it simply 'cause it's not about your own culture, I myself am Scandinavian but that doesn't change my opinion at all. Humans are humans. No matter how they may look nor where they're from. Star Wars is for all and usually has a wide range of cultures in it, but TCW and TBB were really disappointing.

so right now, for my notes for this story, i have one oldass document on my desktop, one google docs doc, and several different docs in the notes app. and each one has pages and pages of notes in it. when i think of new ideas to replace or modify old ones, i dont delete the old ideas, i just write the new ideas down somewhere, so for the two scenes i need to be writing, i have absolute mountains of contradictory notes n chunks of script, and since ive forgotten what my plans were, i need to go thru all these notes to figure it out

at the start, i just had one neatly-organised notes doc, and when i didnt need a note anymore i would delete it. but usually i need to jot smthn down quickly and dont have time to find the right place to put it, which created this mess. i desperately need to go thru all my notes and sort them, so i can actually reference them when i sit down to write. ill try to do this today, even though it feels scary and overwhelming

also, im quitting my medication, so im dealing with major brain fog from withdrawals. ill still try and write anyway, and im hoping when im off it ill be able to work easier. i think the medication couldve dulled my motivation, since i used to write and draw a lot more often before starting it, even while i had my shitty job

it’d be an absolute dream if i could have this chapter up by the end of the week. i cant PROMISE that, but i’ll at least try. these scenes r pretty long and if i cant focus properly, i cant write decent dialogue at all. ill see how it goes, thank u so much for ur patience and support

anon to avoid harassment: i had a parrot that was neglected when i was younger, primarily because i got the bird as a gift when i was a young teen, and teenagers are not qualified to look after an animal that essentially has the same attention needs as a human toddler.

i think the reason parrots are often a neglected animal is similar: a lot of these birds have attention requirements that are downplayed or not mentioned at all by breeders or stores, and these needs are kind of unrealistic for anyone with a full time job or school to meet while living alone.

over a decade later, i have kind of adopted the opinion that in about 90% of cases, owning a parrot is not good for the animal. obviously exceptions exist, but it reminds me a lot of how recently the reptile hobby has normalized captive lifespans of 10 years in animals that easily live 20-50 in well-qualified zoos and sanctuaries.

i am glad your birds are cared for, i just wish this wasnt a minority case.

Oh yeah for sure. I posted that as a light hearted nudge at just how fucking loud they could be (which is one of the many reasons they are horrible pets) and how its ironic that they are one of the most commonly neglected and abused pets (no statistic but based on my experience) DESPITE also being one of the hardest to actually ignore unless MAYBE we are talking about budgies MAYBE.

Parrots are often neglected cause they are wild animals that are completely normalized to be living in homes. They are absolutely not pets and should never be adopted as though they are pets.

All animals and all pets have a difficulty and a lot of needs that are often neglected and under-estimated and under-spoken which is just a chronic condition of humans with pets - but most don't understand that parrots - even the smallest ones - live 15~ years and the bigger ones can live as long as a human. On top of that, they have extremely (with variation between species, but generally) high social needs as they are all prey-animals and flock-animals as well as high enrichment needs as they are all foragers and in the wild find their foods, homes, and care for themselves by tearing apart wood, plants, fruits and vegetables, so they will destroy your everything.

Then on top of that, parrots are extremely pretty and are extremely smart and extremely cute so they are a really cool and awesome thing to have in your house on a surface level, but they will shit on everything you own, they can't be kept in a cage (contrary to almost every depiction) and they will throw bird seed and feathers everywhere constantly + allergies from dander, so they are horrible decorative (BAD EVEN IN CONCEPT) pets despite that they are usually sought after for being aesthetic

But theyre so smart and wouldnt it be cool to have a pet that can talk to you yet actually most of them are extremely behavioral, a LARGE majority never learn to speak and often in my experience its usually only a result of adapting to having to use humans for enrichment (both entertainment and social needs) which in my opinion would better be done with a bird which would then deter the motivation to teach them to speak (not a bad thing if they do, nor is it a red flag since they do bond and substitute with humans well and filling the need with another parrot is not always viable). If they aren't tame when you get them they can literally bite off your finger depending on the species and send you to the hospital in need of stitches if they go for your face. If they don't want to go to the cage and you don't want to youll be chasing that bitch around for at least half an hour (if you are lucky) and you better hope they dont get hurt while you do that. I could go on about behavioral issues and how god damn horrible and grating pets they can be if they are untame and how much patience and understanding of parrot needs, body language, and behavior is

Then there are all the injuries and illnesses they can get along with all the household items that are toxic and poisonous (note, remember, these birds can not be kept in a cage and they have two wings that can take them to places you couldn't think of). The general vet bills, the on the spot crisises that can happen such as broken blood feathers that if you aren't prepared to handle can get injured and result in a dead bird pretty fast.

Like its all cute and fun and games seeing a cockatoo screaming and throwing a tantrum online, but when its your daily for 70+ years and that's just how it communicates, its a whole different story. Which speaking of which, if you are getting a big parrot at an age where you can probably provide it's needs and afford it, you probably are going to die before the bird IF you care for it right so good luck planning for it to have a good home AFTER you die.

I could literally write a doctoral thesis on why parrots are horrible pets and why I would very much directly like to murder breeders who do it for hobby and why trying to find Popsicle a friend was PISSING me off because I REFUSE to buy from a breeder and lovebirds are so frequently targets of breeders as they are prolific and have a quick turn about.

(Also I've read up on them before I took popsicle in and honestly, out of all the 'small birds' lovebirds are by far the hardest to both tame and care for which makes this even more depressing)

We were raised with birds since we were a kid (finches and parakeets) and a lot of unfortunate situations that I won't go into because there is trauma there - but we ended up with 0 birds at a point of time and one of the few genuinely good things my oldest sister did for me was get me a cockatiel and while we were like 10 at the time, she made us write a 4 page research paper on them before she'd support me in making our parents let me have one. She basically raised me more than I raised her if you ask me and from there we ended up rescuing a few more since my mom was wanting birds again (all of which are still with us, save for one born-disabled male that lived 14 years happily despite being disabled, he died peacefully by euthanasia) and all

But like... my birds aren't pets and they are never treated like them, largely because my brain doesn't comprehend birds as anything other than 'kin' in a way beyond the usual "my pets are my family". It's hard to explain because its not a verbal feeling / experience, but my brain can not look at a bird and not feel "same species" as I've tried to logic it into trying to see a bird as a bird. It doesn't work. *shrugs*

But I'm far aware of the plight of them, as with the lovebird saga, Popsicle came from a neglectful home. Pocky came from a neglectful home. Avery came from a home that probably wouldn't have been neglectful but a dangerous, underprepared and unsuitable home (shes special needs, so much so that my mom who rescued her gave up on her after two years and thus I took her rehabilitation personally). Lucy is the result of my mom's (problematic) belief that all of the birds should get the opportunity to breed once and so he's a baby I've raised from a chick and is the son of my "mom" (first cockatiel and emotional support animal). In my mom's flock though, we have a "bird we are fostering for a college student who will surely come pick her up after 12 years", a bird that the owners thought they could raise on a boat (cant), a bird that was extremely clingy and the owner couldn't handle, and a bird that was bonded to the disabled one (I bought that one from a breeder - derogatory - solely because he was being kept UNDER the table in a dark corner so people wouldn't look at him and it broke my heart cause he looked half dead)

Largely if you have a parrot and are struggling to manage it entirely with a fulltime job, a good way to add "buffer" is to give them at least one bird of their own species to have in a big cage with plenty of enrichment.

Over here I have a fiance and am neighbors with my mom who has her "retirement flock" (they're all old birds save for one XD) and so it helps a lot there, but our birds get let out in the morning while I get ready for work, then get let out the moment I'm home and I regularly spend at least an hour or two with all four of them. Plus I pretty frequently take them along with me to shower, on walks in a carrying back pack, and honestly even let them sometimes visit the "retirement flock" just to make sure they are getting a lot of different experiences cause they deserve it.

Lucy is partially leash trained (partially in the sense that he was good for short walks to the mailbox and back but we haven't done it in a while due to new area and having lost the leash) but we had him doing that before too since he's physically and mentally able to.

Is your doll in need of hair?? Do you have a brain that demands instant results and will not wait until tomorrow let alone days for a glue wigcap to dry or however long for a premade wig to arrive in the post? Then boy do I have a post for you !

Following the traditional rules of science, I have fucked around and I have found out. And it works! Here is your ~1 hour [less probably, I didnt time it] making time wigcap tutorial from yours truly, the likes of which I have certainly never seen before, ft Clement who has a neon purple mohawk [a look impossible to find anywhere even if I did have the patience to order it and wait]. ...also bad photography and spelling errors which I do not have the braincell to fix at 10pm

You do Not need to be an expert with a needle to do this- or if you are an expert, you dont need to use effort. I usually sew by hand reasonably neatly, and. here it is very clear I did not. Remeber- you’re going to be covering this with hair!! You dont even need the same fabric colour as your doll’s skin, depending on the style you want. I used hot glue to add said hair directly to the head with little to no processing, and I now have something temporary until the whim of buying the right colour fibre occurs! Just make sure the fabric is fairly thick and not stretchy. I would suggest shaping the front and around the ears into a hairline too- this is more a proof of concept so didnt warrant it. Just draw on the fabric and cut out there I’d presume. Fyi no I did not seal seams or even make seams, the fabric I had wasn’t fraying enough to warrant the bulk. Depending on what you use, you might need to do that.

I did this tonight so ofc I dont know about durability, but I figure no harm- it fits very snugly so I think the biggest issue is it stretching over time, but that could be fixed with blutack or velcro pieces as you usually do with oversized wigs.

An added benefit of this? You get motivation to get the right colour hair ordered!! I am rather excited now, my boy is working out well
