DA Kiss Week Day 5 - Battlefield

Some day in the future, some inevitable battle. Harding and Dawes lose each other - an archer and a close range rogue. When all is won, they find each other, only slightly worse for wear.

One of the most aggressively boring type of people are the ones whose only consistent personality trait is being a contrarian. The ones who think that your intelligence is measured in how many opinions you have, but who don't have the intellect or creativity to come up with any original thoughts, so they take the lazy shortcut of simply having the opposite opinion to whatever they are presented with. And discovering this little trick is the cleverest thought they've ever had - it's so easy to just be able to say "hmm, no. I don't think it's like that" as a response to anyone saying anything, and then coming up with a different opinion about the subject right there, on the spot. Doesn't even matter if what they're disagreeing with is not even an opinion, but a verified, commonly agreed and undisputed scientific fact.

This whole thing about scanning your face to prove tour age is making me remember, in 2018 while out in paris we got our wallet stolen during a particularly busy night at a lesbian bar. It was very late and with no money to buy metro tickets we were effectively stranded, but some people helped us and we ended up staying the night at a really sweet older man's place. His face was deeply scarred and he was missing an eye. We chatted on our way and he told me about his life, probably to help calm me down. He explained he had been stuck in a house fire 20 years ago and had had multiple rounds of facial reconstruction and a skin graft, but there's only so much surgery can do so he just learned to live with it. I remember he said he liked the queer bars because they're the only place people don't really stare at him.

At some point I took out my phone, and at the time I was using face unlock. This prompted him to tell me all the ways this technology doesn't work on him. How his phone selfie camera doesn't focus right because it's not detecting a face. How he had to update his ID the old fashioned way, because the website kept rejecting his photos. And how it was becoming more and more common, and how it was making his life way harder.

This was 7 years ago, and now whenever I see this sort of technology I think of how that guy can't use it. And how house fires are pretty common, and how anything from being born this way to a skin condition to heavy tattooing can probably cause the same issue. Can these people get age verified ? Will they just lose access to all social media, which are increasingly necessary in society, if this becomes the norm ? These are people who are already driven out of public spaces due to how they look, and they're getting pushed out online too all in the interest of companies wanting more money.

the thing about “andrew hussie returns to homestuck to write a cartoon pilot produced by vivziepop with toby fox voicing john egbert” is like. it’s so far-fetched i wouldn’t even make that joke. because it would be too ridiculous for me to even find funny. and it’s not a joke. it’s literally happening right now.

this is racist on its own but i think what always gets me about these types of posts is (and i realize this is a very surface level observation but) you never see people on here say "western live-action dramas are the high school girls in underwear medium" people will critique riverdale or pretty little liars or supernatural or the such individually but the issue is almost always attributed to the specific piece of media or the writers and not the medium as a whole despite the fact that a large amount of these examples do in fact do the same things people constantly act like are unique flaws of anime (misogyny, sexualization of high school characters, romanticization of underage characters getting with overage ones, ect.) it's all just very blatant

thinking about the hawke twins. we only truly know bethany in the universe she was the only mage of the children. we only truly know carver in the universe where he is the only non-mage of the children. both felt like the one that doesn't fit in the family when they are alive... wonder how different would be the story of a bethany with another mage sibling or a carver with another non-mage sibling..... how da2 would change if both survived the epilogue together.....
