I wrote a spec script for Good Omens.
This past week, I was out to coffee with a friend of mine and we got to talking about writing (as we often do). She has more of a television/movie background while I have more of a theatre background.
In the midst of our discussion, she brought something called a "spec script". When asked what exactly that was, she explained (at least in terms of television), it's an unprompted and uncommissioned script written for an already established show. The purpose is to help demonstrate a writer's ability to match the style, format, and voice of a show they didn't create.
Immediately, I said, "That just sounds like fanfiction!"
(Obviously, it's not, but I enjoyed the parallels nonetheless.)
So, of course, I had to write a spec script. (Season 3, episode 1 of Good Omens.)
Let it be known that I did not do this in the hopes of joining the writing team as I know Neil has that MORE than covered. I just did it for fun, but I'm really proud of it and I hope you head on over to AO3 and take a look at it.
Probably too many swear words. Probably too much AziraCrow too quickly. Probably too blasphemous. Definitely wonky formatting.
But I had fun! And that's what fanfic is all about.

feels odd being a marauder fan asking for tasm Peter content but i couldnt help myself <//3 if ur still taking requests id love to see ur take on Peter and the art students meet cute (or not so cute meeting) I always wondered how two vastly different people would even meet lol
Thanks for requesting gorgeous!
cw: mention of animal cruelty (not present in the story)
tasm!Peter Parker x artist!reader ♡ 831 words
Peter wonders if he should put on his mask.
He’s not really sure what the protocol is for non-mutant criminal activity that makes its way into his daily life. But he’d only been trying to lock up the lab for the night, and there you are, spray painting all over the glass panes dividing the workspaces.
“Hey!” He decides to forgo the mask when you direct your can scary close to a container of samples. “Don’t do that, you’ll ruin them.”
You turn slowly, tense all over. It’s a look Peter’s not unfamiliar with; fight and flight are warring in your nervous system. You’ve been caught.
“No one’s still supposed to be here,” you say, voice muffled slightly by the painter’s mask covering your nose and mouth.
A laugh bubbles out of him. “Oh, my bad. Sorry—actually, since I’m clearly the one breaking the rules, I’ll just go.”
You remain frozen in place, seemingly waiting to see if he’s actually joking or not. Peter’s not sure what to do. He can’t just…let you continue to destroy the lab, but calling the cops has never been his MO. He crosses his arms and leans back against a table, doing his best to look in control.
“What are you even doing?” he asks.
“It’s…” You look around you as if you’d forgotten, to the glass now dripping gorily with red paint. “It’s about animal cruelty. It’s a protest. Do you have any idea,” you say, your voice picking up conviction as you speak, “how many animals die in these labs every day?”
Peter blinks. “Not really.” It feels shitty to say, but it’s not like he’s around for every class and project that happens here every day; something like that would be impossible to keep track of.
Your eyes flash. “Too many.”
“So, what?” He looks around, at the red dribbling down the glass panes—blood, that’s what it is—and your paint-spritzed overalls. “You make some maintenance worker have to clean this up tomorrow morning, and then the science department will decide to stop?”
Your eyebrows bunch. You hadn’t thought of that. “I just want to bring attention to it,” you say. “I’ll come back and clean up if I need to, but I just—I think it’s important that people see it. That they can’t just keep ignoring it.”
Peter frowns, bending to pick up one of the paint canisters stacked neatly by a backpack. He gives it a little shake, and this one’s still full, the pile it came from larger than the matching one of used-up cans by your feet. Your eyes track his movements, too smart to try and take it from him but attentive nonetheless. You’re watching him with this flaming intensity. There’s something quietly passionate about you, like you’re burning with an energy that would be almost frightening if it didn’t seem so heartfelt.
“You realize there’s cameras all over this place, right?” he asks. “You could get kicked out of school. This is vandalism.”
You don’t flinch. “It’s uncommissioned public art.”
“You think they’ll see it that way?”
You sigh heavily, and Peter wishes he could see what was going on behind that mask so he’d know what you were thinking. Thankfully for him, your eyes are expressive enough. They narrow as you cross your arms, jutting out a hip.
“So what, are you going to go and tell someone?”
Peter sizes you up. He can relate to feeling like you need to work outside of the system to get something done. To being sick of going to the proper authorities after being told too many times that while they really do care, they won’t do anything about it.
“How about this,” he says. “You let me stay here and make sure you don’t damage any of the equipment, and I won’t rat you out.” He might even scrub the camera footage once you go. But he’s still figuring you out, so he doesn’t want to make promises.
“Deal,” you say immediately. If you’re surprised at his bargain, you don’t show it, only shaking the paint canister in your hand and starting to spray another layer of paint onto the glass. Your brows pinch slightly as you work, evidence of an assiduous concentration Peter is familiar with.
He makes himself comfy in a rolling chair, sitting back to watch you work. “We actually do some really important stuff here, you know.”
“I’m sure you do,” you say without pausing. “It’s not like I blame everyone you personally. I get that the research helps people, but, I mean, at what cost?”
Peter shrugs. It’s a good point. “True. It’s a lot worse for animals in the big labs. We’re small-scale because we’re funded by the school, and we’re also responsible for reporting to the higher-ups.”
“I know.” Your eyes flit to him, less wary than before. “But I don’t have access to one of the big labs. Change has to start somewhere, right?”
You can certainly agree on that.

MWW Artwork of the Day (9/26/24) Francisco Goya (Spanish, 1746-1828) Les Jeunes, or the Young Ones (c. 1812-14) Oil on canvas, 181 x 122 cm. Musée des Beaux-Arts, Lille
Like many other uncommissioned works, the subject of this painting has been interpreted in various ways and it has borne several descriptive titles. The woman reading the letter has been thought to be a portrait. One critic even suggested that she was the Duchess of Alba (who had died many years before the painting was made), and that she is represented with washerwomen in the background to illustrate a theme of 'Industry and Idleness'. It has also been suggested that Goya intended this painting as a pendant to "Time and the Old Women."

What'cha got for #1 !! 👀
Sadly my idea for day 1 never made it into a fic (at least not yet!) but I can share the idea.
This is a Musketeer one. Some context first, this is pre-series, a few months post Savoy. Porthos doesn't have his commission yet and while he's friendly with Aramis, Aramis is still keeping him at arms length, he's decided he can't deal with making new friends only to lose them and a Musketeer's life is full of danger. Athos is very new and also uncommissioned. Porthos thinks he's a grumpy old git, Aramis doesn't much care, but they tend to wind up together as none of them fully fit in with the rest of the Musketeers.
Okay, onto prompt #1, I went for 'Search Party'.
Athos doesn't return from a routine assignment to make a delivery. Porthos might not be friends with him yet, but he does notice that he's in the Wren drinking every night like clockwork and realises somethings not right. It shouldn't have taken him longer than a day. Porthos is a good man who doesn't ignore his gut when it tells him something is wrong so he persuades Aramis to go with him to Treville. However, Treville knows the full extent of Athos's drinking problem and isn't convinced anything is wrong. There's no evidence and he can't justify using resources on a full search when he knows it's much more likely Athos is drunk somewhere. Not to mention Athos wouldn't appreciate it neither. Treville tells them to wait.
They do not.
That's basically as far as I got. Something something, Athos being forced to acknowledge there are people that care about him. Aramis dealing with the ghosts of Savoy. And Porthos has to deal with those two idiots which to be fair should really earn him his commission by itself.

I've been thinking about ttwdfga nonstop since I read it, and I've wanted to draw something for it but i can't pick which part to doodle from 🙏 is there a certain part of what's published that you've wanted to see art of?
- imapollojusticeandimdoingfine
oh wow! i haven't had anyone draw anything from any of my fics uncommissioned, so im very flattered you want to take the time to draw something!
I don't really have any scenes in particular i'd want to see, i'd say. I guess im more interested in what scenes captivate people enough to draw them? like, seeing people's favorites!

Uploading my profile picture too hehe. This was some vent art mixed with some OC lore! This is my OC Kieran when he was younger. He doesn’t control fire I forgot what I was going with this piece actually. Oh wait no it’s coming back to me all. So in this fun lil magical world 3 special people get magic powers! They’re referred to as the fates because one has a power related to the past, another to the present, and one to the future.
Kieran is the prophet of the future :) he can see people’s futures but he’s never given the context or when. This is metaphorically when he gets his right eye uncommissioned due to blast debris from a certain accident!
(On the others: Ophelia is the prophet of the past, they can speak with spirits but in order to, they have to experience the person’s moment of death first. I haven’t given the present person a name because it keeps changing 😭, but they can hear thoughts. Kinda like Anya from Spy x Family’s ability? Where they can’t really control who they’re hearing. They can try to hone in on a person they can see, but then it doesn’t contain thoughts it spreads to all that person’s senses AND everyone else’s thoughts at the same time so it gets loud in their mind.)
The Fates are usually loners because of their powers. First to minimize the likelihood of someone controlling them, second they’ve all had traumatic encounters with being used, and they’re just weird/pos
Oh they’re also all from 3 countries! That I will be renaming because I made it as an ignorant small child (I originally made this to be some kind of Civilization/Settlers of Catan game. We’ll see if I still do that 😭 these are background characters I just went crazy with)
Country - fate
Yusa - has the Present (richest country)
Rune - has the Future (oldest standing)
Hala - has the Past (newest!)
There are more countries but these are the main 3.
Oh, also. These powers usually get passed on when the previous guy dies. But these fun folks are the last iteration so they all get oops! All immortality. (And kinda invincibility, but they have to lose an eye first and other terms and conditions)
Thanks for reading all the way here! I give a kiss 😘

Try + Kyle from MHS2 LET'S SEE THE HUNTER BOY
SEND  TRY + A CHARACTER  YOU’D LIKE TO SEE ME ( ATTEMPT ) TO WRITE ! [it was inevitable]
Tumblr media
"..." There was a slight edge to his usual level of gruffness, one that denoted a topic he wasn't exactly excited to get into.
They were good friends at this point, they knew each other very well. But this was a topic he'd never even brought up with Tsukino.
"...Mari, be absolutely honest with me, ok?" He was well aware that kind of thing would put her on edge, but well, there wasn't a lighthearted way that this conversation could go.
"Do you think my dad was a bad person?"
From the day he had seen his dad scorched to death by Guardian Ratha, until the day he and Mari had become proper companions instead of first bitter enemies, then bitter associates - he had never questioned if what they'd been doing that day was wrong.
It was provably, categorically wrong. They'd unknowingly been paid by an apocalypse cult who had lured them to try and end the world. They'd trespassed on restricted territory and shot at not just an uncommissioned Rathalos, but the island guardian.
To anyone besides his horrified child and entourage that day, his father clearly had it coming.
But in all his memories, his dad was a good man. The dad whose profession was the most noble thing in the world, and so it was forgivable that he wasn't home when he said he'd be. Kyle had wanted to be just like him. He'd looked up to him more than anyone.
When he thought, for the first time, that Ratha wasn't exactly a harbinger of death, he had to question his family in absentia. It was uncomfortable and disconcerting, he pushed it away. What would it mean for him if that were true?
What did it mean, that it was true?
Why was he a hunter, if the dream of heroics and awesome had been built on a foundation of vapour?
What would his mother say if he committed those thoughts to heart?

For the WIP Game: hunter/hunted (potc)
certainly!! premise is explained a bit here. i was hesitating starting this because the logistics are so wonky — after DMC, elizabeth somehow gets to singapore halfway across the world without a ship, then they sail far south enough to reach ice bergs, then they're back in the caribbean, and we're supposed to think this is over days/weeks rather than months.
it's fun in some ways (the miscommunication that comes inherently with a historical setting can be delicious) but it's incredibly annoying when you're trying to write a Fanned Fiction about two people kissing that is both realistic and fun to read. i'm mostly ignoring it and compressing time and space, but for my own sanity, here is my workaround:
In Panama, Beckett’s adjutant Mercer directs him to Singapore, the last known stronghold of the Brethren Court of pirates. An uncommissioned ship was chartered out of Tortuga to make the voyage, and Mercer has reason to believe that Elizabeth Swann is aboard, seeking the court’s aid. Everything Norrington knows about the Brethren Court is shrouded in rumor, by the pirates’ design. Every pirate claimed to be a pirate lord at some point in their career, and it mattered not to the hangman whether they were a governor of a legislative body that did not exist to outsiders.  He mentions this to Mercer, who scoffs and turns aside. “Open your eyes. It would not concern Lord Beckett if it were not real,” Mercer says sharply. “Find Miss Swann. And find what you can about the court. Don’t dally; you’re already behind.”
wip asks! ✨

I’ve won a Silver medal from the Society of Illustrators in the uncommissioned category of their 65th annual competition and exhibition for my art that benefited the FIT Black Student Illustrators Award. I’ve been struggling for 16 years hoping to win a medal someday so this feels good! The judges also chose for inclusion my Criterion Collection cover for Rouge and my Alice in Wonderland Whiskey bottle series for Rabbit Hole Distillery. Thanks to my art directors Eric and Dac, the jury, the Society of Illustrators, and Dandy Wellington my collaborator on the FIT Black Student Illustrators Award art. We will be doing another fundraiser again soon so stay tuned for more hopefully award winning art
