Anti-fascist counter demos in the UK on Wednesday the 7th and Friday the 9th of August
There are going to be a new round of anti-immigrant fascist riots in the UK on Wednesday the 7th of August and Friday the 9th. If you are able to get to one of the counter-demos, and it is safe for you to do so (and I'm including safe for your mental health; please don't push yourself too far), it's really important to go. Not only to physically stop the fascists from burning down immigration lawyers' practices or attacking Muslims in the street, but to stand up and be counted. This is a terrifying time to be an immigrant or a person of colour in the UK, and seeing the fascists outnumbered and humiliated by decent people can go some way to making it less bad.
Stay safe:
come early, well before the fascists assemble
Wear a mask, not only to avoid police surveillance but to avoid being doxxed by the fascists
Don't carry identifying information, such as credit cards, in case the police arrest you
Write the number for a protest lawyer on your arm so you won't lose it
Bring water
Bring suncream
Bring a friend if you can
Wear comfortable shoes
Stand Up to Racism has thhe best list of organised counter-demos. I wouldn't advise turning up to oppose a fascist march if you're not sure whether a counter demo has been called, but here's a list of places the far right has singled out to target on Wednesday at 8pm, so you know broadly whether your city is on the list:

You know people assume (and like it's their right to do so, its headcanons, etc etc don't come with pitchforks at me) that Bradley's youth queer experience would be very positive given Mav and the implied icemav of it all
But I think instead of making him more open about his sexuality in adulthood (or just unapologetic), it'd give the opposite result
This is to do with that, although he'd see happy queer people (Mav and Ice) behind closed doors, his childhood, mainly in the 80s and 90s, as well as Mav's and Ice's attitudes toward being open about their relationship, would teach him how cruel the world can be and the typical 'better safe than sorry' attitude being queer outside of typical queer spaces brings to many
He could see Mav and Ice love each other very very much, maybe to the point he'd even base his idea of love on them, but he'd also see how much maneuvering would keeping their relationship from the public cost. Sure, there are friends who supported them (flyboys, Carole, etc), but there were also countless people who would destroy their careers and lives if they ever found out (also if Mav ever adopted/fostered him, just suspicions of him being queer could put Bradley back in the system, the way things worked back in the 90s and also given how many fostering agency, even government employed, are christian-lead...)
In the instances someone would come close to discovering it, not only he'd see how distressing it can be but also how much being discovered would cost - whether this is personal safety, job security, respect, etc. And even if the worst didn't come to it, he'd still be left with the foil remarks and hate 'bullying'
As long as DADT was in place, I think he'd be equally if not more careful in comparison to what he had seen while with Mav and/or Ice
If anything I think Jake would have more of the naivety being openly and unashamedly queer takes (whether this is because he grew up in an environment with no visible queer people ergo never saw actual acts of hate toward them, or because he thinks he left the most hateful environment and nothing can be worse than it OR maybe because he is 100% or nothing kind of guy, no matter to what he commits)

Living in the UK as a trans woman is finding the most "trans supportive" party to only be the ones that view us as an annoyance instead of a threat.
It's having to spread warnings about the Guardian, a Left Wing source, as they are some of the constantly worse in trying to demonise us.
It's holding hope in the Scottish or Welsh governments, just for them to turn on us in the drop of a penny
It's sitting here helplessly as Dr. Cass removes in a single report, what we have worked so hard to gain in Thirty Years.
It's the knowledge that it feels as if there is a deep and intrinsic TERF culture running throughout this country.
It is seeing 'allies' agree that we are so much better than the US with trans people and then seeing zero backlash to the removal of all Puberty Blockers.
It's seeing The Guardian go after DIY, and the response is "to wait it out"
It's having a 48% suicide rate that nobody cares of, and is entirely dismissed.
It's the hopelessness and the dread. We know others have it so much worse. But there's just. this overwhelming feeling. That this is the way it will be for us forever.

Released to moderate success after missing the tail end of the Kinito Companion's hype, KinitoPET was quickly overshadowed by larger, more popular programs and products within the following years. After all, although beloved by many who used it, there was only so much the program could do with its limited, pre-rendered sprites and dialogue.
...Yet there were rumors of an "upgraded" Kinito. Some believed you had to unlock it, others believed it was a limited release. A statement from KLEC only suggested the existence of an unauthorized, likely malicious modification being spread around online. What little information on its existence believed it to be able to generate responses on the fly, with advanced animations and capabilities. Anyone who claimed to have it however would quickly disappear from forums, leaving most to speculate that they were simply trolling.
Others, however, believed Kinito had somehow killed them.
It was a ridiculous claim, creepypasta-esque and surely impossible. Yet as the years went on, it became Kinito's legacy with screenshots, videos, and recollections that could no longer be determined legitimate or not. An oddity morphed into a story of a permanently "unwell" state Kinito that would install itself onto your computer and make people disappear.
Years later, a retro tech enthusiast with nothing better to do due to their declining condition becomes interested in the old program and rumors, and to their surprise encounters this "rogue" Kinito themselves as a result.
But in their fascinated dissection of the axolotl, they find him doing the same of them...this was no spooky reskin. His motions rehearsed, sure, yet with a tone of bitterness. He seemed...tired. It resonated with them. Their backgrounds couldn't be any more different - a program and a human - yet they found themselves to be surprisingly in sync.

Still thinking about Hadestown
How Eurydice's candle burned until she went to the Underworld, and then she lit it again in the end during Road To Hell (Reprise) and when the show closes with Hermes's final 'we're going to sing it again' and the lights in the whole theatre go out and it's just that little candle, that little light of hope left in the darkness and the silence followed by roaring applause and the cast bows.
How everyone knew what was going to happen and STILL at the end of Doubt Comes In when Orpheus turns, there were audible gasps and sobs in the audience because the tension was OFF THE CHARTS. And then there is just the silence of their final farewell and no one on the audience seemed to breathe.
Thinking about the little tremble in Hermes' voice when they ask Orpheus 'how far would you go for her?' Because this version of Hermes REALLY DEEPLY cares about Orpheus and Eurydice, and they have told this story many times and it still hurts them to see these two have their hearts broken.
Thinking about the audience not just being spectators, but actually there. Hermes acknowledges our presence before the show even starts by getting the same 'Alright!' from us as from the cast. The fact all characters introduce themselves to the audience. And again, before Wait For Me (Reprise), they tell Orpheus and Eurydice that he have to prove before Gods and men that they trust each other and their love, and that includes us, the audience. There are moments throughout the show where characters make active eye contact with people in the audience (usually inthe front row because those are visible, but I never once had the impression that the characters were unaware of our presence. We were part of the wall, part of the workers, part of the people. And that makes this show so immersive that you can't help but feel with these characters.

Greg Lestrade has tried only three times, in the several aggravating years of their acquaintance, to surprise his friend Sherlock Holmes. It has yet to work, even when Sherlock was off his tit. The bastard.
But Greg has a new plan. Time has passed; he'd like to think he's learned a thing or two. And he has a new ally: Rosie Watson. 
Sure, she's too small to be a super spy--yet--but she is a very excellent excuse to come round the flat. 
She's undoubtedly getting spoiled, this one, as if everyone involved is trying to miraculously compensate for a lost mum, even though they know it's futile. 
But also? Kids are fun when they're little. And Greg has no issue admitting he misses those days. Especially when he can hand the kid back when the nappy needs changing. It's brilliant.
And it's nearly John's birthday, so he figures he can kill two birds with one stone. Surprising Sherlock is just a bonus, a personal challenge he lays out for himself every once in a while. To keep his mind sharp. Like sudoku, but one where the sudoku insults you afterwards.
Today, he's prepared: He's bribed Mrs Hudson with some (completely legal, thanks) CBD sweeties. He's noted which stairs squeak. He's planned it for a time he reckons Rosie will be home and awake. He knows Sherlock isn't on any case for the Yard.
Yes, there's a chance John will be at his day job, or Sherlock will be on a private case, but those are chances he just has to take.
He holds the carefully wrapped package under his arm and starts up the stairs. He can hear music, immediately recognisable as Frozen II, but not much else.
One he gets to the landing, he considers the two doors in front of him. He listens again, harder, and thinks he can hear Sherlock and John conversing under the soundtrack, and thinks they're in the sitting room.
So he just goes for it. Opens the kitchen door slow as treacle, then peeks round.
He blinks, then pulls back. Has he just seen-- 
He peeks around again.
Yep. Yep, he has definitely seen Sherlock and John standing in front of the fireplace, in between their well-loved chairs, and kissing like the world is theirs to command: That feeling of a new relationship, which is a bit of luck considering how long those two blokes have known each other, but…
He rubs his eyes, then goes back for one more look.
Same picture, only this time-- Sherlock, eyes closed and expression intense as he holds John's face in one hand and explores his mouth without shame, uses the other hand to make two fingers in Greg's direction behind John's back.
Greg almost laughs out loud. Instead, he leaves the gift on the landing and heads back out. There's only so much a man wants to know about his mates.
He grins to himself. New new plan: Never try to surprise Sherlock Holmes again.
