Emergency aid for Rojava!
Humanitarian aid for the victims of Turkey’s aggressions
Turkey has been bombing civilian infrastructure in Rojava (North and East Syria) since 4th of October 2023, and the region is heading for a humanitarian catastrophe. Turkey has bombed more than 150 targets so far: Much of the region's vital infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed in a matter of hours. Turkey’s attacks have so far caused dozens of civilian deaths and injuries and destroyed 80 per cent of civilian infrastructure, including water and power supplies, hospitals, residential areas, schools, oil fields, factories and warehouses. Hundreds of thousands of people have been cut off from electricity and water supplies for days now. The Covid hospital in Dêrik, one of the most important hospitals of its kind in the region, was completely destroyed by the Turkish air strikes. Numerous other health facilities have been destroyed, hospitals cut off from electricity, cold chains broken - there are calls for blood donations. As Turkey’s attacks continue, the humanitarian situation is expected to deteriorate further and the death toll to rise. The Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurd) is on the ground providing vital humanitarian assistance. Support the work of Heyva Sor a Kurd with your donations!

Choosing my bullet journal for the new year is always quite the afair. I trust my gut when picking out the cover, give it a thoughtful name, and choose a theme that will carry me through the year. Then, I craft an opening spread that reflects the start of that theme. Some years I've gone for a more serious vibe - like last year my bujo sported a constellation of Taurus. I painted it with inky galaxy swirls framed by gothic arches (that had cusps), and named it 'Cúnë', which means Crescent in Quenya Elvish. It felt right since I was on the brink of new beginnings in various aspects of my life, even though I wasn't quite sure what was coming next. Just like the Audre Lorde quote ' I am on the cusp of change & the curve is shifting fast.' Other times, it can rather abstract or silly - like a bright sunny yellow journal I had a few years back. It featured an opening spread of cheerful sprouts, flowers, and leaves - symbolizing my deep dive into learning about indigenous-led sustainability practices. I named it 'Alan!' to remind myself to stay optimistic about the future rather than fall into a doomer mindset.
This year, with everything going on here in the USA, I knew I wanted my journal to carry some heart. I'm aware that it's a challenge for many of us to keep it all together in these trying times - mentally, emotional, and physically - and I know a lot of folks are really feeling the weight of it all. So I aimed to embody that heart and created something that feels uplifting and supportive. Visually, my bujo is a bit of a mish-mash but it works for me. The cover features metallic bats and a bright red moon - two things I really enjoy: bats/nocturnal life and astronomy.
I've named this year's bujo 'Meraki' a Greek word that means doing something with passion and devotion. It has roots in the Turkish word 'Merak', which reflects a labor of love and embracing things deeply. So this year, it's about putting my heart into everything - my art, my work, making new friends, and supporting one another through 2025 and beyond. When I designed my spread for this year, I was quite humored to find that '25' makes for a lovely stylized heart. So I'll be filling 2025 with heart, and I can't wait to see where this '25 takes me.

ISRAELI OCCUPATION FORCES MURDER PALESTINIAN YOUTH IN OCCUPIED WEST BANK
📹 The body of a 17-year-old Palestinian youth lies on the ground after the Israeli occupation forces shot and killed the boy in the town of Meithalun, south of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank on Thursday.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), paramedic crews transferred the body of 17-year-old Ali Hassan Ali Rabaya, shot by the Zionist army in the town of Meithalun, to the Turkish Hospital in the city of Tubas in the occupied West Bank.
Local reporting states that the Israeli occupation army stormed the town of Meithalun, resulting in clashes before occupation soldiers opened fire on the town's residents, killing a Palestinian youth.
This brings the number of Palestinians killed by the occupation army in the occupied West Bank of Palestine to 573, including 138 children, while another 5'350 others have been wounded, since October 7th, 2023.

Beekeepers in Türkiye's southwestern province of Mugla sent 20,848 jars of honey to Gaza through the Turkish Red Crescent Society on Tuesday.
The jars of honey were prepared for Palestinians living under Israeli oppression in the enclave and sent to the port of Mersin for delivery as part of an initiative led by the Mugla Beekeepers Association (MAYBIR).
Speaking at a ceremony, Mugla Governor Idris Akbiyik emphasized that Mugla beekeepers were not indifferent to the ongoing genocide and said he believes that humanity's reactions would bring an end to the oppression.

Although all people living in the region have been seriously affected by the earthquake, the Romani, Domari, and Abdal communities living in the region are experiencing even greater difficulties due to the structural defects of their houses and the difficulties in accessing aid. Many of these communities are in difficult to reach areas, meaning the Red Crescent, Turkish Disaster & Emergency response teams, and other humanitarian organisations have not yet provided support these neighbourhoods and will probably not provide support until long after all other regions have been supported. Romani, Domari, and Abdal people have not yet been able to benefit from the tents and containers set up in some places in the earthquake zones as they are too far from the areas where they live. In the centre of Hatay, there are approximately 12.000 Domari and Romani people living in around 2.000 houses, of which almost all have been destroyed. We estimate around 3000 of these are children, 500 are people living with disabilities, and 1000 are elderly people. There are similar communities throughout the region, whose entire neighbourhoods have been completely destroyed. As these communities are amongst the poorest in Turkey, and often live in poorly constructed homes, their losses are proportionally more severe with entire communities made homeless.

We are getting reports that Israeli air raids have targeted the vicinity of the European Hospital in southern Gaza.
Earlier, we reported that the Palestine Red Crescent said artillery and strikes were taking place near the Al-Quds Hospital, creating fear among patients and the thousands of Palestinians who are seeking shelter at the medical facility.
The Turkish-Palestinian Hospital in Gaza also sustained a “direct hit” resulting in damage and injuries on Monday.
Meanwhile, the director of the Indonesian Hospital reported that the hospital was hit for the third time early on Tuesday. The extent of the damage could not be immediately determined.

In the hope that joy will return to little Farah's heart.
Usually, targeting densely populated areas leads to numerous casualties and serious injuries among civilians. After the indiscriminate shelling of vital facilities and civilian areas in northern and eastern Syria by the Turkish state on May 4, 2023, which lasted for several days, it left many dead and wounded, including 14-year-old Farah. She was displaced from her village of Al-Ghabish in the countryside of Tel Tamr with her parents during the occupation of the city of Serekaniye due to indiscriminate shelling in that area.
The bombing continued to haunt her as she helped her mother pick cotton in the village of Al-Bashiriyah in the countryside of Al-Dirbasiyah, where she lost her legs due to a shell that fell on them on May 5, 2023.
Farah was treated by the emergency and ambulance team of the Kurdish Red Crescent in Al-Dirbasiyah and was transferred to a hospital in Hasakah. A medical team consisting of an orthopedic surgeon, a physiotherapist, and a psychological support team from the Kurdish Red Crescent was assigned to take care of her treatment, support, and rehabilitation until she receives lower limb prosthetics in the hope that joy will return to little Farah's heart.

this whole time following u for like ~7+ yrs i thought u were turkish loooool guess it was that both countries start with tu- and the flags are so similar. i was like oh he must be among the 2% of turkish ppl that speak arabic natively
hahaha that's okay I remember as a kid I would confuse the two flags also... actually, this is why:
Turkey and Tunisia have had strong cultural ties since the Ottoman Empire colonized Tunisia in the early 16th century, which lasted several centuries. As much as 25% of Tunisians are at least partially of creole Turkish descent.
The symbols and colors used in the flags are representative of that.
The first 15th Century war flags of present day Tunisia were elaborated by Amazigh Sunni Muslims and although the crescent and star combined were coopted throughout history to represent islam, it's speculated that initially these crescents were symbols of good luck for the populations of Carthage.
1574, The red color was introduced when the Ottomans invaded. During that period of time, most Mediterranean and coastal African countries used red maritime flags.
1827, the allied forces of France Russia and the British Empire defeated the Ottoman forces at sea. The Tunisian fleet was destroyed and the Bey Hussein II requested this flag to distinguish it from other (Egyptian, Algerian) fleets. In 1831, it was adopted as the national emblem.
The Tunisian flag is actually the oldest national African flag. It is also in the top 10 oldest flags in the whole world.
The proportions have since been improved on, and the Tunisian government has given different interpretations of what the color red and white represent in accordance with their current values.
As for the "Tu-", Tunisia is named after its capital of Tunis. It comes from a tamazight language word meaning Sleeping over, probably because Tunisia's harbors were once the heart of the Mediterranean.

Israeli forces shot and killed Ali Hassan Ali Rabaia, 17, during a raid on the town of Meithalun, southeast of Jenin, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reports. The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its teams transported the body to the Turkish Hospital in Tubas. Two other Palestinians were wounded in confrontations with Israeli soldiers, Wafa said. More than 5,300 people are believed to have died after floods in the Libyan city of Derna, a local minister said.
"The sea is constantly dumping dozens of bodies," said Hisham Chkiouat, from Libya's eastern administration.
There have been calls for more humanitarian support as victims lie wrapped in body bags and others have been buried in mass graves.
A tsunami-like river of floodwater swept through Derna on Sunday after a dam burst during Storm Daniel.
Rescue teams are digging through the rubble of collapsed buildings in the hope of finding survivors.
Officials say at least 10,000 people are feared missing or dead.
Libyan doctor Najib Tarhoni, who has been working in a hospital near Derna, said more support is needed.
"I have friends in the hospital here who have lost most of their families ... they've lost everyone," he told BBC Radio 4's World at One.
"We just need people who understand the situation - logistic help, dogs that can actually smell people and get them from under the ground. We just need the help humanitarian help, people who actually know what they are doing."
The head of the Libyan doctors' union Mohammed al-Ghoush told Turkish media there was an urgent need for specialised forensic and rescue teams and others specialised in recovering bodies.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said an emergency team will arrive in Derna on Thursday "to assess medical needs and donate emergency medical kits to care for the wounded and body bags to the Libyan Red Crescent".
Streets are covered in mud and rubble, and are littered with upturned vehicles.
Mr Chkiouat, a local official, said some areas of Derna have "vanished, completely disappeared".
"So imagine a residential area has been destroyed completely, you cannot see it, it's not existing anymore.
"I've never seen anything like this before. It's by all means a tsunami."
Why the floods were so catastrophic
Johr Ali, a Libyan journalist currently in Istanbul whose family is in the country, said it was like "doomsday".
"The screams of the kids, the dead bodies around the streets," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.
He explained he spoke to a family who were the only ones to have survived the floods in their neighbourhood.
"They described the situation when the floods went away, saying a woman was hanging in the street lights because she was taken away by the flood.
"She stayed there and died there. They eye-witnessed that, they eye-witnessed their nephew dead in the streets, thrown away by water."
People say the amount of water is indescribable, he said.
"Tens of thousands are either dead or beneath the soil. The water took the ground beneath them and threw them into the sea."
The floods have claimed the lives of a number of elite footballers, according to the Libya Football Federation.
The LFF has officially announced the deaths of four footballers in the region: Shaheen Al-Jamil, Monder Sadaqa and brothers Saleh Sasi and Ayoub Sasi.
The United Nations has called the deadly floods a "calamity of epic proportions".
The cities of Soussa, Al-Marj and Misrata were also affected by Sunday's storm.
Libya has been in political chaos since long-serving ruler Col Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown and killed in 2011 - leaving the oil-rich nation effectively split with an interim, internationally recognised government operating from the capital, Tripoli, and another one in the east.
But despite the split, the government in Tripoli has sent medical supplies, body bags, doctors and paramedics.
Derna, about 250km (155 miles) east of Benghazi along the coast, is surrounded by the nearby hills of the fertile Jabal Akhdar region.
The city was once where militants from the Islamic State group built a presence in Libya, after Gaddafi's fall. They were driven out some years later by the Libyan National Army, forces loyal to Gen Khalifa Haftar who is allied to the eastern administration.
The powerful general said eastern officials were currently assessing damage caused by the floods so roads could be reconstructed and electricity restored to help rescue efforts.

MASS SLAUGHTER IN GAZA EBBS AS "ISRAEL" PREPARES FOR RAFAH OFFENSIVE ON DAY 185 OF SPECIAL GENOCIDE OPERATION
On the 185th day of "Israel's" special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of four new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 32 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 47 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
Gaza's Ministry of Health pointed out that there are still a large number of victims trapped under the rubble and debris of their homes and shelters, with local Paramedic and Civil Defense crews unable to reach the sites of Israeli bombings.
According to the Hebrew media, IOF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said on Sunday that despite the recent withdrawal of all meneuvering ground forces in the Gaza Strip, the war with Hamas is not over, and will continue.
“The war in Gaza continues," Helevi told the Zionist media, "and we are far from stopping. Senior Hamas officials are still in hiding. We will get to them sooner or later. We are making progress, continuing to kill more terrorists and commanders and destroy more terror infrastructures, including last night."
The Israeli occupation army withdrew all its forces from the Gaza Strip over the weekend, leaving just a single brigade to secure the so-called "Netzarim corridor" which crosses Gaza from the Be'eri area in the south of Israeli occupied Palestine, to the coast of Gaza. At the height of the fighting in previous months, the occupation army had between 30'000-40'000 troops stationed in the Gaza Strip.
“We are fighting this war differently; it is different from its predecessors,” Halevi is quoted as saying. "The war in Gaza continues, and we are far from stopping. Senior Hamas officials are still in hiding. We will get to them sooner or later. We are making progress, continuing to kill more terrorists and commanders and destroy more terror infrastructures, including last night."
“We will not leave Hamas brigades active in any part of the Strip. We have plans and we will act when we decide. At the same time as the offensive effort, we allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip. Hamas’s interest is to present a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, to press for an end to the war."
In a message that echos Halevi's sentiments, Zionist Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant stated that the point of withdrawing troops from Gaza was to "prepare for the expected offensive in Gaza's southernmost city of Rafah."
The Defense Minister went on to claim that due to "military successes," Hamas has now "stopped functioning as a military organization throughout the Gaza Strip."
Gallant immediately contradicted himself a moment later by saying the occupation army is still preparing to "deal with Hamas's remaining battalions in Rafah."
"The forces came out [of Gaza] and are preparing for their future missions. We saw examples of such missions in action at Shifa [Hospital], and also for their future mission in the Rafah area,” Gallant added, projecting a future of mass slaughter like that committed in Al-Shifa on the civilians of the southern Gazan city of Rafah, where well over a million Palestinian civilians have taken shelter from "Israel's" special genocide operation in Gaza.
Meanwhile in Gaza, the Israeli occupation's bombardment of various areas across the Palestinian enclave continued, albeit at a slightly slower rate than before, after the recent international outcry over "Israel's" destruction of the Al-Shifa medical complex, as well as the methodical slaughter of 7 foreign aid workers, including nationals of Poland, Australia, Palestine, and a dual American-Canadian citizen in a series of drone strikes targeting a convoy of humanitarian aid vehicles on the outskirts of Deir al-Balah.
In one example, Zionist occupation forces bombed a residential home in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of a woman.
Similarly, IOF artillery shelling targeted civilian residences in the town of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, wounding several people.
In yet another criminal atrocity, Zionist artillery detatchments shelled a number of local residences in the Al-Maghazi Refugee Camp, in the central Gaza Strip, killing four civilians, including women and children, while also wounding several others.
At the same time, local paramedic and civil defense crews recovered the corpses of several civilians from under the rubble of the Al-Shifa medical complex, located in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, while local civil defense crews also recovered at least 8 bodies from under the rubble of destroyed buildings in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. Some sources put the total at 12 bodies, which were said to be recovered from the Khan Yunis governate.
Occupation Forces have also withdrawn from their siege on the Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, in the south of Gaza, leaving behind a fully flattened neighborhood of rubble and debris, a partially damaged hospital, and several completely destroyed ambulances, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
Elsewhere, Zionist warplanes bombed a residential home belonging to the Al-Khatib family, adjacent to the Al-Mukla Palace hall in Khirbet Al-Adas, resulting in the deaths of two Palestinian civilians.
The Israeli occupation also bombed a tract of agricultural land surrounding Madi Station on the outskirts of the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, with no casualties reported in the strike, while another airstrike targeted agricultural lands outside the Al-Salam neighborhood of Rafah, near the border with Egypt.
Zionist fighter jets also targeted the Al-Brahma neighborhood of Rafah city, while another airstrike targeted in the vicinity of the Al-Kuwaiti Hospital, along with several areas to the northeast of Rafah.
Occupation air forces also bombarded residential buildings in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, north of Rafah, killing at least one civilian and wounding a number of others.
In the central Gaza Strip, occupation aircraft bombed a residential home and a commercial building in the vicinity of the Ain Jalut towers, on the outskirts of the Al-Nuseirat Refugee Camp.
At the same time, Zionist warplanes continuously bombarded the city of Al-Zahra'a, north of the Nuseirat Camp, resulting in the martyrdom of three Palestinians, while occupation artillery forces shelled the eastern neighborhoods of Deir al-Balah and Al-Maghazi.
As the Israeli occupation army continued to pummel the central and southern Gaza Strip, Zionist aircraft also bombarded several areas of the northern Gaza Strip as well.
In one example, IOF fighter jets bombed a civilian home in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City, killing one person and wounding a number of others, while occupation artillery also shelled the al-Shuja'iyya area north of central Gaza.
As a result of "Israel's" special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the infinitely rising death toll has now exceeded 33'207 Palestinians killed, with over 14'500 children murdered, while no less than 9'500 Palestinian women have been martyred. Additionally, 75'933 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression, beginning on October 7th, 2023.
