Dally Winston is dead.
He is buried in Oakland cemetery with his family, with his neighbors, uncles and cousins.
He knows it now, as his blood flows with theirs in underground streams, as their ashes and bones feed the shoe-pressed soil. He found his people.
He knows his father now, the warmth of his embrace, the pride in his soul, the rage in his veins, the powder canon in his flesh.
He knows his grandfathers hands now, ripe and wrinkle free, starved and hungry for something food could never satisfy. He knows the way he hugged his gun, brave.
The earth is black and burnt, just like their streets, just like their homes, just like their bodies.
300 names, unknown, unclaimed.
The earth is black and burnt.
He lays with faces he's never seen. His name, too, will fade away as his stone will crumble under the weather.
In 1921, in Tulsa, a two day long massacre started by a 19 yo black man being accused of assaulting a 21 yo white woman. White supremacists burned down an entire neighborhood, which at the time was considered Black Wall Street. The Tulsa Massacre is known as one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history.

Lessie Benningfield Randle, 108; Viola Fletcher, 109; and Hughes Van Ellis, 102 are HEROES. No group has ever won justice from their oppressors without demanding it, loudly and consistently, and these three aren't done fighting.

Happy 110th birthday to Viola Fletcher, one of the last known living survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
The Tulsa Race Massacre was a racially motivated attack on a thriving Black community in Tulsa, Oklahoma known as “Black Wall Street.” The attackers killed hundreds of people, left thousands without homes, and burned the entire community to the ground.
More than 100 years later, not a single white person was imprisoned or held accountable for their part in the massacre, and no Black survivor or descendant has ever received any form of compensation or reparations for what was lost, taken, or destroyed.
Today we honor Black history, Black resilience, and Mother Fletcher's 110 years of life.

We were told that reparations can’t be paid to us as descendants because we were never slaves ourselves.
We were told that reparations can’t be paid to us because no one is no longer alive that actually endured the enslavement.
We were told that reparations can’t be paid to us because those who enslaved is no longer alive.
Yet there are two of the last three remaining Tulsa Massacre survivors who yet again were denied reparations.
I need the judges and whoever to stop being cowards and just say it. We will not give reparations to you because you are Black American. The only deciding factor is they are Black American. [because reparative financial justice has been given out to several other groups who endured incomparable atrocities—can look up pension plan payouts for Civil War descendants, Japanese-Americans, Oklahoma City bombing survivors, Native Americans, Holocaust survivors and their families; some atrocities we as a country didn’t commit against others etc.]
And so what that it was an act of domestic terrorism with the enlistment of city, state and federal officials to participate in the slaughter (city officials equipped civilians with guns to murder), imprisonment and destruction of the residents and entire thriving community (enlisting pilots to drop bombs from airplanes). So what that there were internment camps setup following the atrocity. So what that the insurance companies rejected to honor and denied all the business and personal claims to repair the physical damage to properties to rebuild.
So what that there are survivors at 100+ years of age still alive today with firsthand accounts to testify of their traumatic experience. They dismissed the lawsuit and appeal from each survivor…again.

Here & Now currently airing an interview about the Tulsa Massacre of 1921 and the 109 year old survivors' last attempt to demand reparations for the families who survived, as not only were businesses and homes destroyed, but Tulsa and Oklahoma have been enriched from tourism due to the massacre. They're currently appealing to the Oklahoma supreme court to have their dismissal overturned.

The survivors of the Tulsa Massacre receiving no 'legal' justice for what they endured at the hands of white people isn't terribly surprising, tbh.
The sentiment asked that the justice system that allowed the mass murder to happen in the first place hold its benefactors accountable.
And, yeah, they're not about self-incriminating to the point where they actually have to face actionable consequences and are rendered powerless afterward.
Nothing short of the collapse of the US Empire is going to grant its victims any kind of justice. And by the time that happens, most, if not all, of them will have been reunited with their families in the afterlife.
Which sucks.

By John Parker
Like all historical achievements regarding African people in this country, Juneteenth has two sides — one for celebration, and one that painfully shows how systemic racism endures in this capitalist and imperialist country. For those who want to change the world, it is always important to appreciate both sides of that coin in order to remain realistic and optimistic in preparing other possible victories.

May 31, 1921, a prosperous black neighborhood in Tulsa, OK was burned to the ground, killing 300+ black residents of Tulsa. The hidden motivation for this horrific event was jealousy, an African American neighborhood that has become nationally known for its prosperity.
For those who know the 80s R&B group, the GAP Band, they were from Tulsa and named themselves after three prominent streets in what was Black Wall Street, Greenwood, Archer, and Pine - - The GAP Band.

Ku Klux Klan - a history of brutal murder
The brutal history of the Ku Klux Klan from its founding in 1865 and its record of murder exposed by TV historian Tony McMahon
Flaming crosses and white hoods are what comes to mind when we hear the words: Ku Klux Klan. Since 1865, this organisation has been responsible for thousands of murders, lynchings, and beatings. It’s tentacles have extended into corridors of power. Two state governors who tried to bring the KKK down saw their own political careers destroyed. So, let’s look back at over 160 years of the Ku Klux…

“As voters, we must protect our children from politicians who believe that retribution and violence are virtues. Because I have lived through that nightmare. And trust me, we can’t afford to go back,” wrote Randle[, a Tulsa Massacre survivor].
