Names.

So, basically, I wasn't satisfied with the ending of httyd 3. I didn't like the dragons leaving, and I didn't like the plot very much as well. So, I decided to make a plot including the next generation (i.e. the riders' children). But here's where I meet my waterloo:

Names.

URRGH, I just have the WORST time selecting names for the children excluding Zephyr and Nuffink PLUS their dragons! Especially when you go on the internet and see all these awesome httyd ocs with their equally sensible names, and no matter how much you want to steal them but then you remember copyright is a thing. So, that's why, I need help. With names.

Please send me some sensible names, p l e a s e. I will be eternally grateful if y'all do. For both the children AND their potential dragons.

Parents: Dagur and Mala

Weapon of Choice: Sword

Relationship status: Just married to Solvig

Occupation: Eruptodon protector

Personality: Quiet and tends to keep to himself and stay out of people's way and problems. Likes to tease his younger siblings especially Baldur about Zephyr.

Misc: He made a vow to never ride a dragon again after he gave up his position as first in line for the throne to devote all his time to the eruptodon effectively passing the throne to his younger sister Eula.

Personality: She is very friendly and always willing to help those around her. She is just as courageous as both her parents and is quick on her feet.

Misc: She just like her father has always had a strong connection with the eruptodon and vowed to always protect it. Also made a vow to never ride a dragon once she became the protector.

Misc: She was always so fascinated and amazed by Atali’s story of being a Wingmaiden that when she was old enough she decided to pass her claim to the throne of Defenders of the wing to her younger brother Baldur and become a Wingmaiden herself.

Misc: He is currently first in line for the throne of the Defenders of the Wing and has no plans to give it up. He has every intention of marrying Zephyr and making her Queen of the Defenders of the Wing.

Misc: She loves to cook and make her friends treats to cheer them up when they are sad so now she knows what all the riders favorite sweets are and can bribe them into doing patrol or other chores. Her best friend is Zephyr.

Personality: She has a very similar personality as in Homecoming just more mature and willing to listen to what the older vikings are trying to tell her before jumping to conclusions. She is also the most knowledgeable about dragons out of all the children and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect them to the point of often having to be dragged away by her friends for her own safety or even Dart refusing to cooperate with her anymore

Misc: She enjoys reading the book of dragons and training with her mother. She also got her father's ability to create useful inventions. Her best friend is Ericka

Relationship status: Dating Thyra

Occupation: Dragon rider

Personality: Very similar to his personality in Homecoming but more mature. He is still very rambunctious and likes to try all of his father’s aerial tricks that he was told about as a young kid. His favorite pastimes are flying with Pouncer and annoying Zephyr.

Misc: With the very real possibility of his sister marrying Baldur he is most likely to become the next chief of Berk.

Eye color: Purplish Blue

Dragon: Monstrous Nightmare named Ember

Weapon of Choice: War hammer

Relationship status: Dating Nuffink

Occupation:Dragon rider

Personality: Thyra is very confident in her abilities and is willing to spar with anyone who offers. Unlike her dad she isn't afraid to not take first (breaking generational trauma from snotlout). She tends to spoil her dragon and treat her as the most important living thing in the world.

Misc: She is the most competitive of all the children and likes to follow Hiccup around and annoy him until he is quite literally just chasing her away.

Parents: Snotlout and Ruffnut

Relationship status: Flirty with Skjor

Occupation: Dragon rider

Personality: She is extremely girly and likes to focus on how she looks over fighting the other kids. She wants to be a healer like her mother (yes I headcanon Ruff as the healer after Gothi)

Misc: She and Attor like to look in the reflection of shields to preen. She tends to get distracted while fixing her hair or grooming her dragon and will miss important details in a conversation. She is still very useful in a battle and will take down enemies in style. She and Astrid have bonded over having Nadders and she has learned a few tricks from her.

Personality: Skjor is the perfect mix of both his parents with his father’s love of learning and dragons and his mother's survival instincts. He loves adventure and journaling.

Misc: He met Wingnut when he got stuck on a random island and used the survival skills his mother taught him. First in line to be chief of Berserker Island.

Personality: Vivika is the most patient out of all the children and always willing to hear a multitude of answers to one problem. She is the peacekeeper between her siblings and on the island.

Misc: She enjoys sitting under the shade of the trees with Suvi to read and be away from her responsibilities for awhile. She really looks up to her aunt Heather.

Name: Lagertha

Dragon: Gronckle named Lapis

Relationship status: Single

Occupation: Dragon rider

Personality: Lagertha is a born warrior that is always ready to take on anyone and anything that will try to pick a fight with her. She likes to boss people around and get the island people to do tasks for her.

Misc: She likes to get up with the sunrise and fly around the island with her dad. Her favorite pastime is whittling long sticks into spears.

Name: Noma

Relationship status: Single

Occupation: Jr. Dragon rider

Personality: Noma is a free spirit who usually does whatever sounds fun. She is curious of the world around her and can often be found taking a walk around the island. She and her cousin Leahlout are attached at the hip and if they aren't doing their own thing they are always together.

Misc: She likes to help her father in the forge (I headcanon that Tuff begins to help Gobber in the forge now that Hiccup is to busy as chief) or helping her mother cook and bake in the great hall.

Dragon: Hideous Zippleback (Spark) named Thevren

Weapon of Choice: Daggers

Relationship status: Single

Occupation: Jr. Dragon rider

Personality: She is the most calm out of all her siblings but still enjoys causing a ruckus on the island especially for Gobber and Spitelout. 

Misc: She likes to follow her dad around while he is training the Berkian guard (I headcanon that Snotlout is the captain of the Berkian guard) and likes to train with them herself.

Personality: He is sweet and gentle much like his father but tends to make up his mind and become fixated on his decision and refuses to listen when people try to tell him the opposite.

Misc: Bjorn is a pacifist so he prefers to find nonviolent solutions to problems and stay out of fights for as long as possible until a dragon or someone else is in serious danger of being badly hurt.

Personality: Ingrid likes to act sweet and innocent especially around her parents (they know she’s not) but she is a feral child and will bite when she feels like it.

A Lightfury’s Guide to Stealing A Dragon Rider Update

Hey guys, no update on my A Lightfury’s Guide to Stealing A Dragon Rider series just yet since I haven't been able to get too much work done on it yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to start releasing some sneak peeks for it soon though.

If you guys wanted to do some things to help spark some ideas you could suggest them below just for some little moments. If I haven't said it before, I'm hoping to make this series from RTTE to HTTYD 3 so lots of writing. I'll finish the RTTE part of it and publish that though so you don't have to wait months for the whole thing. Lureabies: Chapter 2

Characters: Hiccup, Fishlegs, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Eret, Valka

Summary: Hookfang and Goldwing return upset and lead the dragon riders to the place Åse and Snotlout disappeared.

On a beach lined with soft white sand, the dragon riders impatiently awaited for their companions to return. Early morning turned to noon, as they got increasingly more worried.

“They should’ve been back by now! Oh what if they were captured?!” Fishlegs paced, hands folded behind in back. “I’m sure they’re fine Fishlegs,” Astrid put a thoughtful hand on his shoulder in an attempt to calm him, “Åse wouldn’t let anything happen to either of them or their dragons!” “Right!” Hiccup chimed in, “I’m sure they’ll be back any minute now!”

As if on queue, two large reptiles come into view from the bright, sunny sky. “See? That’s them now!” Only it wasn’t. It didn’t take any of them long to notice the flames that ignited Hookfang’s entire body, something he rarely did unless something was terribly wrong.

When Hookfang and Goldwing touch down, it didn’t take any of the riders long to rush to them, inspecting them for injuries, expecting they’d been attacked and these two somehow got away. Only, they found no injuries. None. Something was clearly up.

The dragons were becoming more and more agitated as the minutes passed. “I think he wants us to follow him.” Ruffnut pointed out as Hookfang paced back and forth. Hiccup pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to formulate a plan. “What do we do, son?” Valka placed a gentle hand on Hiccup’s shoulder, making sincere eye contact. Hiccup looked up to her with a worried expression, before stiffening and turning to everyone else, “We follow them.”

They flew in tense silence, listening to Fishlegs practically whimpering in worry. Each of them were preparing for a possible fight when suddenly, the two dragons in lead stopped. Above the thick canopy. “Uhhh.. What are they doing..?” the twins questioned. “They stopped..” Eret spoke, mostly to himself. Obviously they’d stopped, he was just a bit out of it from so much tension. “We’ll gang, looks like we’re going down.” Hiccup somewhat shrugged, as if not sure this was truly the best course of action. Only, when the dragons swooped down, it became clear fairly quickly that none of them were getting through such a dense canopy. None expect for Meatlug..

Fishlegs was nothing but uncomfortable and down right afraid when he was told he’d be going down there alone, but eventually he gave in, worry for his friends overweighting any fears. He cared too much for them to potentially be leaving them for dead. Slowly and gently Meatlug fluttered downwards beneath the trees. It was shady and took a moment for his eyes to adjust but soon Fishlegs could see everything around him. Or perhaps, lack there of. “There’s no one down here! Nothing! It’s just a forest floor!” Fishlegs shouted upwards. “Maybe look around for clues! We have to try Fishlegs!” Hiccup replied, sounding a bit uncertain himself.

Fishlegs paced around, looking for something, anything, when suddenly, something shiny caught his eye. He trudged over and bent down to find the source of the shimmer. An iron helmet adorned with a ram horn on each side. Snotlout’s helmet.

In no time, Meatlug had brought down each of the riders, the dragons being sent to wait near the base of the trees with Valka and kept watch. The riders quickly found a sort of path leading through the forest. They followed it, somehow even more tense than before.

Fishlegs took note of the sweet smell of the trees aloud when Eret’s head shot up. “You’re right.. They do smell sweet…” He paused as if trying to recall something, “Everyone stay alert. We maybe be dealing with some very dangerous dragons.”

“Wha- dragons? What kinda dragon smells this nice amiright?” Tuff joked, turning to find not an amused face in sight. Man, he thought, not even Ruff. Hiccup sighed, “As poorly as Tuffnut worded that.. what do you mean by dragons, Eret? Should we be worried?” Eret took a breath and thought momentarily, “Well a few years back, I was sent to an island with my crew to trap these beasts.. Er sorry, dragons,” he corrected, “We were attacked. ..They stay in dense forests full of these sweet smelling leaves and they call you in with a sort of call before poisoning it’s victims… We.. We called them Lureabies.” Everyone seemed uneasy, especially Fishlegs. “What? What do we do if it is these dragons you speak of?” Astrid spoke up, distraught. “We stick together and find those two quickly. If I’m correct… we have a time limit.”

They’re surrounded. This was just supposed to be a scouting mission, but they were spotted by trappers. There were maybe 40.. 50 of them, and it was only Åse and Snotlout. The others sat on the other, far side of the island waiting for them to return, and it wasn’t a very small island by any means.

A few moons past, Hiccup had heard word of a large band of dragon trappers left over from Draco’s fleet, camping out on this island; trapping dragons and selling them to various buyers for various reasons at various prices. He’d sent Snotlout and Åse to scout them out to be sure the rumors were true. If they were, they’d deal with them. And as Åse and Snotlout soon found, they were indeed true.

The hunters made chase, but never once fired one of their many cross bows at the two vikings. Only holding them at the ready. But seeing as they were severely outnumbered, the two ran for it. Goldwing and Hookfang had been hovering above the trees a few yards behind them, out of sight prior. The Berkians had originally planned on hopping on their dragons and taking off, but that was now out of the question. The dragons couldn’t get to them through the thick forest canopy and anytime they tried to even get close, the trappers would fire what seemed to be dragon root arrows. Lovely. And if either dragon fired? More arrows. They had to stay out of arrow range, but that also meant out of blasting range.

They were surrounded at every side but front, so run they did. It was almost as if the trappers were herding them somewhere, but they didn’t have time to worry about that now.

Soon they came to a bramble, and assuming the trappers wouldn’t follow them in, they dove in head first, crawling towards safety. Thankfully it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Snotlout would know, he’s fallen into plenty of unforgiving bushes. And they were right, those trappers turned on their heels in defeat and retreated. After a few seconds of dragging themselves along the dirt, they found themselves in a bit of an odd clearing. Large trees stood around them, blocking them in at all sides, only allowing small bits of golden sun reaching in the kiss their leaves. They’d definitely never been here before.

“Can you uh.. see.. a way out?” Åse spoke, winded. She realized they hadn’t spoken that entire time, only using some hand signals to communicate. “Uhhhh,” Snotlout looked around as he hunched over, hands on his knees, lungs begging for more air than they could take in, “yeah- Yeah! Over there..!” He pointed with an exhausted enthusiasm to a small clearing between trees. It was reminiscent of a path, thought the ground not worn.

The two trudge forward at the same pace, calling for their dragons. But neither came. They couldn’t help but worry for them and hope they’d just gone for help. Surely the trappers couldn’t have gotten them.. Right..?

They followed that path for what seemed like years, making note of the glowing sun fading in and out between sweet smelling branches.

The two walked in silence now, hand in hand, equally exhausted, when Åse suddenly stopped, seemingly frozen in place. Snotlout turned see her, confused. “Are you ok?” “Shh shh! Do you hear that?” she held a finger in the air and looked around silently. “Alright, I think you’re a little more tired than you thought cause-“ She cut him off by waving her hands around him and quickly pressing a stiff finger to her lips. Snotlout, concerned and confused, looked around. It had been maybe 10 seconds when he started to try and speak again, quickly cutting himself off as he heard a soft humming sound.

He turned to her, eyes wide and brows knit tightly together. He opened his mouth as if to speak, but he couldn’t quite find any sound in his throat. All he could do was follow the noise, intrigued.

“Wha- Lout! Where are.. you.. going..?” Åse found herself becoming just as curious as he was, taking his hand once more and following his lead further on into the trees. The humming continued, growing louder with each step they took.

After a bit of walking, they found themselves in a small field of grass and flowers, surrounded by more trees and every side. The trees were dark and shrouded; usually either of them would be frightened, but oddly enough they each felt strangely calm.

Åse spun on her heels, glancing around. “Whoa,” Snotlout began, “Ah! What the-“ “Hm?” Åse turned to see Snotlout waving lethargic hands around his head. “Bugs?” She asked, having no energy to say much more. “No.. something… something sprayed.. me..” Snotlout’s movements became more and more sloppy as he clumsily made his way to Åse., booted feet not wanting to cooperate.

Noticing, she met him half way, catching him as he fell forward. He mumbled nonsense to himself, eyes dancing around his head like a baby seeing color for the first time. “Lout? Hey! Hey look at me,” She snapped fingers in his face, watching him hardly react, becoming increasingly more worried, “Lout what’s going on? Talk to m-“ Åse was cut off by a strong mist hitting her in the face from seemingly nowhere.

After a moment, Åse was beginning to understand what was happening to Snotlout. She suddenly felt 1000 times more exhausted than she had before, eyes begging to shut. All the colors around her became more vibrant, spinning round and round with her head. She should’ve been scared, but she could only feel joy. Pure euphoria. Her brain was full of thick, unforgiving fog. It blocked out most coherent thoughts until she could no longer hold herself up. She settled in near Snotlout, who at some point had lost his helmet ‘When did that happen?’. Heads together, feet pointing in opposite directions.

Snotlout looked up to her, grinning a giddy-ish grin, before raising an arm lazily to play with her auburn hair. He giggled in a sense, before lazily mumbling loving nonsense. His words were unclear, but Åse knew what he meant. She grinned, raised an arm to cup his face. After a moment, his eyes slid closed, and his arm dropped. Before Åse could even try to be alarmed, her body gave in and she succumbed to the comforting darkness that had been begging her to be let in.
