President Trump took action to "protect civil rights" today by rescinding Executive Order 11246, which was signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson in September 1965.
Just to be clear, the Executive Order signed by LBJ -- who did more for Civil Rights than any other President including possibly Abraham Lincoln -- nearly 60 years ago, prohibited government contractors from, and this is an exact quote from the Executive Order: "discriminat[ing] against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin" and ordered that government contractors "will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, color, religion, sex or national origin". It also ordered that government contractors would be required to "in all solicitations or advertisements for employees placed by or on behalf of the contractor, state that all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex or national origin."
By rescinding that Executive Order today, Trump -- who was sworn in on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, by the way -- is effectively clearing the way, in 2025, for government contractors to discriminate against people because of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This government, which was elected by a majority of Americans in November, is rolling back the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT.
Oh, and don't forget that Trump also instructed federal employees today that there would be "adverse consequences" if they did not "inform on colleagues trying to dodge" the Trump Administration's crackdown on diversity. So there's also a culture of fear being built into following these (now legally protected) discriminatory practices.
This has always been the country we live in. People have been looking for permission to be okay with it -- and your fellow Americans gave that permission in November when they re-elected Donald Trump. He never hid what he was going to do this week, and we allowed it to happen. Another disgusting day in America.

An Elementary School was the target of an ICE raid, an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Schools in my surrounding area were given a red card with instructions on what to do if ICE agents were to come to their home. Schools are now creating plans for what to do if ICE officers come to their school.
Whether you agree with Trump’s standing on illegal immigration, we should all be able to agree that school is no place for ICE raids. No matter their immigration status, every student is there to learn, they are there under the assumption that they are safe. No child should have to go to school and worry that they will be taken away by ICE agents.

Important things to know if you are approached by an ICE officer:
You do not have to open the door.
A valid warrant is required: ICE agents must have a search warrant signed by a judge to enter your home. A deportation warrant does not grant them the right to enter.
Ask to see the warrant: Request that they slip it under the door or show it through a window. Verify the name, address and judge’s signature.
You can speak through a closed door: If you choose to communicate, do so without letting agents inside.
You have the right to remain silent.
You have no obligation to disclose personal information: You do not have to reveal your name, birthplace, immigration status or how you entered the country.
State your decision: Say, “I choose to remain silent,” if you wish to do so.
Use a ‘Know Your Rights’ card: You can show a card or note explaining you refuse to speak without an attorney.
Do not utilize false documents: Never lie or present fraudulent paperwork.
You have the right to an attorney.
Ask for a lawyer immediately if detained. Say, “I demand an attorney and refuse to answer any questions without my counsel present.”
Present form G-28: If you have legal representation, provide this document to ICE agents.
Use pro bono resources: If you cannot afford a lawyer, request a list of free or low-cost legal services.
Consider consular contact: You also have the right to contact your consulate.
Avoid signing documents you do not understand: You can refuse to sign until you have spoken to a lawyer.
You have the right to make a phone call.
Use detention center procedures: Request ICE’s National Detainee Handbook to understand rules if taken into custody.
Contact family or friends: Ask for a free phone call if you lack funds after 10 days in detention.
.
.
In this scary time, we must look after one another. Whether you are a citizen or not, we are all human beings with individual lives that are equally important. We must be aware of what is going on in our world and this is the unfortunate reality of America right now. Families are being forced apart and the lives of thousands of people are being destroyed because they don’t have a piece of paper.
Please don’t ignore this, don’t look the other way because it doesn’t matter to you, it matters to someone. Someone out there is living in fear, someone out there just lost their family, and someone out there lost the life that they worked so hard to build for themselves. No one is free until we are all free.

The idea of privatizing the post office for “not being profitable” is so stupid. It doesn’t exist to turn a profit, dipshit.

Trump DEI crackdowns lauded for bringing merit back to medicine: 'Make healthcare great again'
President Trump is waging war on the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) philosophy entrenched in various U.S. entities, signing an executive order scaling back the practice as he encourages companies in the public and private sectors to prioritize merit in the workplace. “It’s just enormous, and I think the president is really, really going to make healthcare great again,” Dr. Stanley…

President Trump’s second term focuses on FEMA overhaul, immigration crackdown, and “America First” policies. President Donald Trump’s second term has begun with a rapid rollout of his “America First” agenda, marked by decisive actions on both domestic and international fronts. From overhauling disaster response systems to cracking down on immigration and redefining global trade policies, the administration is pushing forward with its priorities. However, these initiatives are not without challenges, including political polarization and resistance from state governments.

The entire list was inspired by the great writer and historian, Tim Snyder. His book ‘On Tyranny’ was the essential guide to the first Trump term. ‘Do not obey in advance’ his number one lesson from his work studying authoritarian regimes. In a great stroke of luck, he rang me while I was writing it and, after thinking for a moment, told me that he would enlarge that, now, to ‘Know who you are.’ Know what your values are, what you believe in. I’ve been thinking about that ever since.

Grounded Diplomacy: Mexico Grounds U.S. Deportation Dreamliner
In an unexpected diplomatic hiccup, Mexico temporarily blocked a U.S. military plane from landing, complicating the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to deport immigrants to the country, as reported by NBC News. While two Air Force C-17s managed to transport 160 deportees towards Guatemala, the planned flight to Mexico was grounded. The reason behind Mexico’s decision remains unclear,…
