What Do I Do Until SM5?

  Alright. Here you are. You have finished watching Friday’s livestream, you are all excited for Samurai Warriors 5, you have looked at the calendar ANNNDDD you have now realized we are still several weeks away from the game’s release. So, what do you do now? Well, Today I have come to offer some things to help pass the time until Samurai Warriors 5 is released. I will be offering various games and projects in various genres and platforms that may help either sustain you until SM5 or help build up your hype even more! I have even organized then by genre. I will not be including any other games in the Sengoku Musou series in this list. 1. Pre-Order The Game On Your Platform of Choice: No. Really. Remember to Pre-order the game if you haven’t already. It is great to be hyped but let Koei know that we love this franchise and hunger for it. 2. Mobile Games: If you are in Japan you have so many Sengoku based mobile games to choose from that it is mind blowing. In the west, however, it is a bit tougher. So I am going to suggest two. -Dating: Ikemen Sengoku: If you want historic accuracy this is seriously not the right game for you. It is several famous samurai as very pretty men all wanting to steal your heart and your attention. While some of the events may be a bit of a money grab on the part of the company who runs it the storylines and events are fantastic and the community is amazing. I recommend this highly! -Collection/Card/RPG: Touken Ranbu: For those who haven’t heard the famous Japanese mobile game “Touken Ranbu Online” launches in the west on Tuesday and I am hyped! It is a great game similar to Kantai Collection (Kancolle) or Sengoku Asuka Zero. Famous weapons as cool looking samurai guys! You can pre-register HERE. 3. Portable Games: Now, several of these games are also on Steam, the PS4, and possible even Xbox. However I am going to focus on games on the Vita and Switch. -PSVita: Toukiden, Toukiden Kiwami, Toukiden 2: Also on PS4 and Steam. I love this game so much. Toukiden and it’s upgrade Toukiden Kiwami are by Koei! Think of monster hunter but with a super heavy samurai feel to it! Fight horrible, giant yokai and craft amazing armor and weapons from their flesh! -PSVita: Muramasa The Demon Blade: Also on Wii this game is a fun side scrolling RPG with plenty of hack n’ slash all about leveling up the special weapons you get all with crazy powers and different magic abilities associated with them! -Switch: Fighting Game: Samurai Shodown: The new release/reboot of the classic fighting game series Samurai Shodown has met with great success. Set in the Edo Period you have fighters from all over the world but the game has a very heavy Japanese feel to it with Kabuki based characters, samurai based characters, ninja, priestesses, and all kinds of other unique fighters with their own themes and movesets! 4. Console Games: Games that you can sit down and play on Playstation, Xbox, or Steam. -RPG/Souls Like: Nioh and Nioh 2: I can’t say enough about these games. They are brutal, violent, and wonderful. Feudal Japan is full of Yokai for you to fight and slay your way through. While the story is full of demons, ghosts, and corruption Nioh (focusing on Sekigahara) and Nioh 2 (Focusing on the rise and fall of Toyotomi Hideyoshi) offer great incite in the era and strangely enough have some of the most historicly accurate portrayels I’ve ever seen when it comes to people of the time period. -RPG: Way of the Samurai 3: A unique RPG set in the Sengoku Era. Run around and collect weapons and play a fun, short story with a lot of different endings. -Strategy: Nobunaga’s Ambition Series: A wonderful series. These games take several days worth of play time to beat but they are a great experience for those that like strategy, town planning, and resource management. -Strategy/Military: Total War Shogun 2: If you enjoy samurai and the Sengoku Jidai and resource management but want more exciting combat and a larger focus on combat compared to Nobunaga’s Ambition check out this great came that, in spite of it’s age, is still played by many across the world even today. 5. Youtube and Podcasts: I know this isn’t quite as action packed as anything else I mentioned but for those that want to keep the hype up, brush up on history, and listen to something awesome I have three offerings for you. -Podcast: Samurai Archives: A great podcast hosted by great people who know their stuff. Every episode is focused on something from the Sengoku Era and I can’t recommend it enough. -Podcast: History of Japan: This podcast by Issac Meyer is great. He covers far more than just the Sengoku Era but he covers his topics thoroughly and passionately. He recently did a series of episodes on the Azai Sisters and as a large Azai fan myself I couldn’t help but be thrilled about it. -Youtube: The Shogunate: The Shogunate is a cool dude. He hosts Shogun 2 Total War tournaments and has very informative episodes organized into playlists about the history of the Sengoku Jidai.  6. Roleplay Forums: I’m going to shamelessly plug my own roleplay forum on this list. No one can stop me. For those not familiar with the concept you make your own original character(s) then you and others write a story based on those characters, taking turns to describe what your character is doing in various situation. So you might have a roleplay about your character and another having a dinner conversation, or being in a large fight against an enemy army! It is creative writing at it’s finest and is like D&D but with pen and paper. -Modern Era: Sengoku Horizon: It is a fantastic forum with a very niche theme. In modern times the Tokugawa government and it’s feudal system not got overthrown. Samurai, ninja, and lords still exist! You get to play as a college or high school student at a prestigious academy training the future leaders of Japan and can make a character that carries both a katana and cell phone in this exciting mix of modern life and Sengoku Era concepts.

Hello! It's been a long time but I return! Me:  The name’s Micchi, but feel free to call me whatever you wish. I’m in search of some casual roleplay buddies who might be up for some light-hearted, or really heavy roleplays. Basic info for me is I’m 20, and I’m a female more or less searching out other partners, preferably female, but gender really doesn’t matter in the end. I can’t say how much experience I have in RP, as my time RPing has been very patchy. I would average and say I probably have 1-2 years of experience, but I'm still learning and adapting. I'm currently enrolled in college in a full-time baking course, so I'm out most of the day during the week. I try to squeeze out replies despite this, as roleplaying is a great de-stresser for me. I try to average at the least one reply per day, but I can’t always do so since I’ve been fairly busy these days. At the least, I will respond on the weekends at least once a day if I can't get responses out during the week. If I haven’t replied in a week, please shoot me a message to remind me to reply, as I likely have read your message, but forgotten to reply! I will make sure to tell you if I know that I won't be able to reply for a week or more, so please be willing to do the same for me!

Style:  I RP in third person, paragraph style. I prefer to RP semi-lit, though I do this more or less as a stress reliever and a hobby, so I’m not too strict on my style or length or anything. I typically average a paragraph in response, and can push myself to write 2-3 if necessary, but even one-liners are no issue to me. My length varies depending on my partner, but I cannot spiel off more than 4 paragraphs per response. I like to plot up ideas together and though I’ve never gotten the chance, world-building does sound cool! I like to use faceclaims for my character, either a real person or an anime drawing, depending on my character (My older ones would likely have an anime drawing as a faceclaim while newer characters would have a real person). I also love to send pictures for references on my characters, and their clothing. It’s much easier for me to imagine their looks and clothing that way. ^.^ And lastly, since it’s been a while since I’ve RPed, I may be lacking in terms of detail and length, but with time and practice, I will improve! The same goes for my characters. They may start out very plain/shy or unrealistic-sounding, but over time, I will flesh them out and make them more and more realistic! So please bear with me. c: Rules:  So, starting rule is that I ask for my partners to be 18+, for comfort reasons and because I quite like smut. I prefer to be close in age to my partners, as I feel a better connection, and I’m more comfortable with it.  Second rule is that I ask you not to take control of my character without asking me first. I’ve had it happen before, and frankly it’s very annoying, and I’m sure you can understand why.  Last, a general rule. Respect. It’s a mutual rule, of course. I’ll respect you as long as you respect me.  Preferences:  So, I like to talk with my partners OOC, but this isn’t necessary if you wouldn’t like to do so. I’m an awkward and shy person, so I totally understand if you wish to keep talking strictly to plotting and talk about our characters/setting.  For pairings, I highly prefer M// and F//, but I will do some M/F, though only if doubling. I would love to try some F//, as I’ve never actually RPed F// before, at least not without being ghosted, so I’d love to get the experience with it. I prefer to play a bottom, but I will switch and I might top. I like to play a range of characters, but most are bottoms or switches. I prefer highly to switch if you dislike playing a specific role, to keep variety in the mix. I prefer to do OC RPs, but I do have a few fandoms that I will play canon characters in. Most fandoms are for the universe.  I usually play only one character at a time, but I can double. I like to do two different pairings when doubling (Like M// and F//). I like modern fantasy) - Slice of life (The one I’m best versed in) I am willing to try really any genre except historic ones because I know I can’t do justice to any timeline earlier than the 2000’s. 

Plots/Pairings:  These are some plots/pairings that I like or want to try. I’m open to any suggestions. (The more *s there are, the more interested I am in it. Bolded role is the role I would prefer) - Youtuber x Youtuber** (OCs only, but maybe two newer YouTubers collaborate and end up closely knit, and start dating) - Detective x Criminal/Thief* - Pirate x Pirate - Pirate x Commoner/Royalty (The commoner/royalty being a captive, though this wouldn’t be a Stockholm syndrome thing, but with a surprisingly merciful pirate who is kind to the captive) - Idol/Celebrity x Idol/Celebrity*** (This could go for BTS, or for OCs. I just like the idea of two celebrities who can’t be together often falling for one another and sneaking off to meet one another when they’re able to. Would probably be related to K-pop/J-pop/J-rock) - Idol/Celebrity x Commoner**** (Someone who happened to run into the idol/celebrity and hadn’t a clue who they were or was a fan and the idol grew attracted to them because they treated them no different than a normal human after learning who they were. I’m currently doing one of these, and I love it. This more or less ties to J-Pop/J-rock or K-pop, but any kind of idol/celebrity can be used) - Vampire x Werewolf* - Vampire x Human - Werewolf x Human (I’m a sucker for the human helping an injured werewolf plot) - Werewolf x Werewolf (Maybe a rogue being taken in by a pack alpha sort of scenario and slowly adapting them to life with a pack again) - Vampire x Vampire* (I like any plot, but I’m weak for an old, powerful vampire taking in a fledgling/newly turned vampire and teaching them how to adjust to their new life) - Demon x Angel - Demon x Human* (A human summons a demon, for any reason, and somehow the demon gets stuck with the human. Maybe the human accidentally summons the demon, and cannot send it back, so now the demon begrudgingly has to deal with this human until they find a way to get him home and they form a bond) - Human x Hybrid*** (Usually tied in with heats/ruts/ABO dynamics) - Hybrid x Hybrid* - Merman x Human** (Based off of Orenchi no Furo Jijo, a mermaid/merman is beached and dying, and a human takes them home and houses them in their tub. Possibly takes them back to the sea later on and makes routine visits to see them) - Good Boy/Girl x Bad Boy/Girl* (Something where the bad girl/boy has a soft spot for the good boy/girl and treats them completely opposite of their image. Maybe they’re childhood friends, and have been separated for years due to one moving away and have been reunited in college) - Supernatural creature x Human* (It could be any supernatural creature) - Supernatural creature x Supernatural Creature* AUs:  So, I’m really weak for the hybrid AU, supernatural AU and soulmate AUs. Toukiden: The Age of Demons was out today in America in 2014. A group of warriors known as the Slayers must protect the Midlands from the encroaching Oni.

So I wasn’t able to fully elaborate on my thoughts regarding my issues with Toukiden 2′s story since I was very tired last night, and I’d like to go into it further.

The first thing that annoys me is making you an amnesiac hero.  The first game, you’re just a new recruit that arrives at the village and you go from there.  In Toukiden 2, you’re already an established Slayer, but then you’re flung 10 years into the future, lose all your memories, have to get re-initiated as a Slayer, and lose your cool gear because one of the NPCs just decided to throw it out.  What’s the fucking point in doing the whole backstory if you’re just gonna make me do the song and dance anyway?  It’s dumb.

There’s this stupid faction split for the most arbitrary reason possible, despite said faction split not existing in the previous game.  And this isn’t something that can just spring up over night, the two sides reason for disagreeing would have been a problem since minute one.  It’s a really dumb way to drum up internal conflict.

The whole nonsense with machina and some kind of ancient pre-human super civilization.  The first game established what the oni are and how they work, and otherwise made it clear that the setting is the real world just with magic/demons.  Throwing in this exsphere powered Zanarkand bullshit is just really tonally jarring and doesn’t add to the narrative.  The whole point of the different Ages is that they’re exaggerated representations of different eras of Japan’s history, and Japan never had a fucking prehistoric magi-tech millennium tower.

The mysterious white haired magic princess is named Kaguya.  Could you get any less original.  Especially since the ACTUAL mythical Kaguya is a Mitama you can get.

Gwen is cute and all, but the idea that in the early 1800s an Englishwoman that speaks perfect Japanese, just happened to travel to Japan on the day of the Awakening, and then get inducted into a decades old secret society in the course of like a week?  That’s breaking my suspension of disbelief more than the soul-eating extradimensional demons using the power of love to time-travel.

top 6 games?

1- Muramasa: Rebirth (PSVita). Originally came out on the Wii back in 2009, which was the first time I played it. The vita version gets slightly updated graphics and a proper translation, as well as more customizable controls in case you play differently. Aside from being visually gorgeous, the soundtrack is also really good. The stories (Either Momohime’s or Kisuke’s) are really short but interesting, and makes getting the different endings more worthwhile. Please play this game (wii version is fine if you don’t have a vita).

2- The Witch and the Hundred Knight (PS3/PS4). Abbreviation is witch100. Definitely one of my favorite games; the story is fantastic and really well written, and the music adds to the feel of the game. All the characters have a lot of personality even if you only see them in a couple scenes. The Revival edition that came out on the PS4 definitely adds to the game with updated graphics, but also adds a new mode called “the tower of illusions”. Unfortunately, the translation for the tower feels very literal, but it doesn’t take away from the small story too much, and the ability to level and item grind is a good addition. If you haven’t played it yet and want a good, dark game, I’d highly recommend it (PS3 version is probably pretty cheap by now).

3- Nier (PS3). If you want a game with a really emotional story, get this. No question. The music is phenomenal and gives the game a lot of feeling, too. The gameplay itself is pretty good, and though some might complain that the graphics seem outdated for a PS3 game, I don’t find it takes away from the story at all. Might be hard to find a copy, but I think it’s really cheap now. Looking forward to playing Nier: Automata.

4- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS). I’ve sunk so many hours into this game. The first one I played was MH3 on the Wii, but I didn’t know what I was doing. Still loved it. MH3U I had a better idea, but not really. Between this and MHGen, I’d give this the spot, though MHXX might replace it. G-Rank and High-rank village quests, as well as a slightly more interesting story, make this a game that you can put a lot of time into. The ability to make different armor and weapons also helps, and 4U was the first game that introduced the charge blade and insect glaive, which are pretty good weapons. Also the first game I used all the other weapon types in instead of sticking with hammer (though it’s still my fave).

5- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (NGC/Wii). I played the GameCube version, and it’s still one of my favorite Zelda games. I really like the combat system, and the story has a good draw to it that makes you want to know what happens next. Ganon (or Zant) feels like an actual threat to the world, so solving people’s problems feels more meaningful. The enemy designs are also some of my favorite so far. Though BotW is great and I enjoy exploring, one of my biggest complaints is that Ganon just kinda… sits there. Aside from Zelda telling you he could bust out and the Divine Beasts destroying things, he himself didn’t feel important. Some speaking lines or something could’ve helped?

6- Toukiden: Kiwami (PS4/PSVita). I thought it was going to be kinda trope-y version of Monster Hunter, but I was wrong. Though the combat style is in that genre, the characters have a lot more depth to them than I expected. The different weapon classes and character customization is nice, and the male/female armor options don’t look terribly different. Gives additional story and content to Toukiden: Age of Demons. It’s like if monster hunter was story focused. Good overall.

Anyway, that ended up longer than I thought it would. There are other games I like and the list is subject to change, but here are 6 solid games. Also, anything by Vanillaware is worth looking into (Muramasa, Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown, GrimGrimoire).

You let out a high pitched scream, while whirling around with a hand on your weapon. Only to come face to face with the current bane of your existence.

The “Carryover Demo” for Toukiden 2 is now available for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in North America, and will launch on March 17 in Europe, Koei Tecmo announced.

The demo allows users to play the game’s opening story. Save data from the demo can be transferred to the full game when it launches. Users who transfer their save data will also receive special bonuses.

Toukiden 2 is due out physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, and digitally for PC via Steam on March 21 in North America and March 24 in Europe.

Looking For A Few Partners (Mostly OC and BTS)

Hello! So, it’s been a year but I’m back, and craving a few RP partners. Me:  The name’s Micchi, but feel free to call me whatever you wish. I’m in search of some casual roleplay buddies who might be up for some light-hearted, or really heavy roleplays. Basic info for me is I’m 19 (Will be 20 later this month), and I’m a female more or less searching out other partners, preferably female, but gender really doesn’t matter in the end. I can’t say how much experience I have in RP, as my time RPing has been very patchy. I would average and say I probably have 1-2 years of experience. I’ll be going into college at the beginning of April, and I’m hoping even with class, I’ll be able to continue any RPs I have going at that time, but fair warning I may have to put a hold on our RP, or stop it all together if the course is demanding. Hopefully it won’t be that way. ^.^ I try to average at the least one reply per day, but I can’t always do so since I’ve been fairly busy these days. If I haven’t replied in a week, please shoot me a message to remind me to reply, as I likely have read your message, but forgotten to reply! I will make sure to tell you if I’ll be missing for anywhere from 3 or more days, if I have the chance to, so please be willing to tell me the same. I would like to know if you’ll be unable to reply for anywhere between 4 days or more. 

Style:  I RP in third person, paragraph style. I prefer to RP semi-lit, though I do this more or less as a stress reliever and a hobby, so I’m not too strict on my style or length or anything. I typically average a paragraph in response, and can push myself to write 2-3 if necessary, but I’ve been out of RPing a while so my quality may be a bit lack-luster at the beginning. Please just bear with me and I’ll improve.  I like to plot up ideas together and though I’ve never gotten the chance, world-building does sound cool! I like to use faceclaims for my character, either a real person or an anime drawing, depending on my character (My older ones would likely have an anime drawing as a faceclaim while newer characters would have a real person). I also love to send pictures for references on my characters, and their clothing. It’s much easier for me to imagine their looks and clothing that way. ^.^ And lastly, since it’s been a while since I’ve RPed, I may be lacking in terms of detail and length, but with time and practice, I will improve! The same goes for my characters. They may start out very plain/shy or unrealistic-sounding, but over time, I will flesh them out and make them more and more realistic! So please bear with me. c: Rules:  So, starting rule is that I ask for my partners to be 18+, for comfort reasons and because I quite like smut. I prefer to be close in age to my partners, as I feel a better connection, and I’m more comfortable with it.  Second rule is that I ask you not to take control of my character without asking me first. I’ve had it happen before, and frankly it’s very annoying, and I’m sure you can understand why.  Third, a general rule. Respect. It’s a mutual rule, of course. I’ll respect you as long as you respect me.  And last rule, for my own comfort, please do not ask personal questions. I’ve had it happen a few times where someone will ask me something personal or invasive, and really I just don’t want to feel uncomfortable again. I will drop contact with anyone who tries to get anything sexual out of me. Preferences:  So, I like to talk with my partners OOC, but this isn’t necessary if you wouldn’t like to do so. I’m an awkward and shy person, so I totally understand if you wish to keep talking strictly to plotting and talk about our characters/setting.  For pairings, I highly prefer M// and F//, but I will do M/F. With M/F, I will only play the female character. I would love to try some F//, as I’ve never actually RPed F// before, at least not without being ghosted, so I’d love to get the experience with it. I prefer to play a bottom, but I will switch, and in a F//, I might top. I like to play a range of characters, but most are bottoms or switches.  I prefer to do OC RPs, but I do have a few fandoms that I will play canon characters in. Most fandoms are for the universe.  I usually play only one character at a time, but I can double. I like to do two different pairings when doubling (Like M// and F//). Kinks & Limits:  I’ll start with my main limits, since it’s mostly the normal stuff.  - Mommy/Daddy kink - Mpreg - Abusive relationships (Both physical and emotional) - Furries (Doesn’t include shapeshifters/hybrids) - Pedophilia/Age play (Or in general underage characters) - Incest - Non-con (Unless it’s in a character’s history, then that’s fine) - Feet stuff - Anything unhygienic As for my kinks, I’m still exploring so I’m open to almost anything not on the limit list, but here’s a few of my favourite ones so far:  - Cross dressing (Especially for my bottom males) - Rough sex - Lingerie (I love having my characters dress up in lingerie) - Hickeys/biting Fandoms:  So, I have just a few fandoms, but here they are. (The more *s next to the name, the higher my craving for it) - Overwatch ** (I prefer to play OCs since I’m not too well versed with the characters just yet, or we can just use the universe) - Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - Toukiden Kiwami (I’d be pretty happy using the universe)  - BTS**** (I love these boys please RP them with me. No OCxCanon with this fandom) Genres:  - Romance (I love to have romance in any RP if possible) - Fantasy/Supernatural (My ultimate favourite. I like modern fantasy) - Slice of life (The one I’m best versed in) I am willing to try really any genre except historic ones because I know I can’t do justice to any timeline earlier than the 2000’s. 

Plots/Pairings:  These are some plots/pairings that I like or want to try. I’m open to any suggestions. (The more *s there are, the more interested I am in it. Bolded role is the role I would prefer) - Youtuber x Youtuber** (OCs only, but maybe two newer YouTubers collaborate and end up closely knit, and start dating) - Detective x Criminal/Thief* (I would love this for BTS, but I love the idea of this in general) - Pirate x Pirate - Pirate x Commoner/Royalty (The commoner/royalty being a captive, though this wouldn’t be a Stockholm syndrome thing, but with a surprisingly merciful pirate who is kind to the captive) - Idol/Celebrity x Idol/Celebrity*** (This could go for BTS, or for OCs. I just like the idea of two celebrities who can’t be together often falling for one another and sneaking off to meet one another when they’re able to. Would probably be related to K-pop/J-pop/J-rock) - Idol/Celebrity x Commoner**** (Someone who happened to run into the idol/celebrity and hadn’t a clue who they were or was a fan and the idol grew attracted to them because they treated them no different than a normal human after learning who they were. I’m currently doing one of these, and I love it. This more or less ties to J-Pop/J-rock or K-pop, but any kind of idol/celebrity can be used) - Vampire x Werewolf* - Vampire x Human - Werewolf x Human (I’m a sucker for the human helping an injured werewolf plot) - Werewolf x Werewolf (Maybe a rogue being taken in by a pack alpha sort of scenario and slowly adapting them to life with a pack again) - Vampire x Vampire* (I like any plot, but I’m weak for an old, powerful vampire taking in a fledgling/newly turned vampire and teaching them how to adjust to their new life) - Demon x Angel - Demon x Human* (A human summons a demon, for any reason, and somehow the demon gets stuck with the human. Maybe the human accidentally summons the demon, and cannot send it back, so now the demon begrudgingly has to deal with this human until they find a way to get him home and they form a bond) - Human x Hybrid*** (A hybrid being adopted by someone who just wants a companion, maybe a lonely author, and slowly they end up falling for each other. Usually tied in with heats/ruts/ABO dynamics) - Hybrid x Hybrid* - Merman x Human** (Based off of Orenchi no Furo Jijo, a mermaid/merman is beached and dying, and a human takes them home and houses them in their tub. Possibly takes them back to the sea later on and makes routine visits to see them) - Good Boy/Girl x Bad Boy/Girl* (Something where the bad girl/boy has a soft spot for the good boy/girl and treats them completely opposite of their image. Maybe they’re childhood friends, and have been separated for years due to one moving away and have been reunited in college) - Supernatural creature x Human* (It could be any supernatural creature) - Supernatural creature x Supernatural Creature* AUs:  So, I’m really weak for the hybrid AU, supernatural AU and soulmate AUs.
