Birth Chart for Wade Watts/Parzival: August 12, 2027 (movie version)
Am I gonna combine my love for RPO and my love for astrology? Yes I am!
(PS: if you like astrology too, follow me at @magicalzodiacs too!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not really going to interpret everything because I'm kinda lazy lmao, so I'm just gonna make some observations instead!
- His chart is fire dominant, meaning he is passionate, assertive, determined, and active.
- His sun in Leo makes him confident, ambitious, loyal, a leader, competitive, arrogant, and enjoys the spotlight (a pretty good trait to have, considering he is the first to be on the leaderboard and eventually wins control of the OASIS).
- His moon in Sagittarius means he is adventurous, enjoys challenges, and a quick learner, which helps him remember all of the facts he needs to know, and win all the challenges he needs to.
- His Venus in Leo makes him a devoted, loving, proud lover who takes control in a relationship. Interesting...

Ready Player One: High Five x Zodiac Signs
So @xart3miss and I were talking about which zodiac each of the five main characters would be! (This is not their official signs, just our opinions!)
*Contains spoilers!*
Parzival / Wade - Taurus
Determined and a bit stubborn like a Taurus, Wade will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, from winning the contest to earning the admiration of Art3mis.  With the exception of his lost contact with Aech for some time in the book, Wade displays the loyalty of a Taurus to the rest of the High Five, standing up for them when needed and loving them for who they really are (in addition to the fabricated OASIS version of themselves).  He is a bit materialistic, as shown by his initial motive to win the contest, but this does not make him a shallow person; he sees people for their true selves, and uses his smarts to both win the challenges with his knowledge of pop culture and his elaborate plans to outsmart IOI.
Art3mis / Samantha - Leo
Samantha’s strong, fiery personality reflects the qualities of the fire sign Leo.  Especially in the OASIS, she is brave and strong-willed, and the popularity of her blog gives her an influential voice that many Leos have.  She appears to have a high self-esteem in the OASIS, which could be interpreted as arrogance to some, but underneath that is a girl with the generosity and kind heart of a Leo.  This is shown in her motive to win the contest, to help improve the state of their world, as well as in the movie, when she brings Wade to her shelter and then lets herself get caught by IOI to help her team on the outside win.
Aech / Helen - Sagittarius
Like a Sagittarius, Helen enjoys adventurous activities in the OASIS, whether it’s fighting in arena battles or partaking in the contest.  She is honest and outspoken, despite the fact that she hides her identity out of necessity.  While this comes as a huge shock to Wade when they first meet in real-life, her friendly Sagittarius personality makes her easy to connect with both in and out of the OASIS.  She has developed the independence of a Sagittarius, perhaps from past events, which helps her survive in the real world, and makes her both a strong opponent and alliance in the OASIS.
Daito / Toshiro - Scorpio
Although the movie portrays his personality a bit differently from the book, Daito fits the qualities of a Scorpio in both examples.  Scorpios are known to be secretive and mysterious, which is reflected in his strong objection towards revealing his identity to his closest friend.  However, in the movie, Daito is less secretive; he shows Scorpio qualities in his strength and determination to defend the rest of the High Five, even sacrificing his avatar to do so.  Like a Scorpio, he is protective over his friend Sho, to the point where he identifies as his older brother.
Sho(to) / Akihide - Gemini
One of the most well-known qualities of a Gemini is the multiple sides to their personality, which is more apparent in Sho’s personality in the book; he is more friendly towards the High Five than Daito and is quick to bond with Parzival following Daito’s death, yet when he seeks revenge on IOI, he becomes angry and determined to kill Sorrento’s avatar.  Even in the movie, Sho’s personality easily switches between friendly to sassy and quick-witted, which are both Gemini traits.  Like a Gemini, Sho’s youthful personality masks his strength and intelligence, making him a far more mature person than he lets on.

*minor spoiler warning! (won't say specific plot details)*
The best way I can put it without spoiling anything major is the main character has the same fate in the book and in the movie, so the plot generally ends the same in both. However, because the movie and the book progress differently, some side characters (*cries*) face different fates, or come to the same fate but in different ways. So yeah! Definitely different experiences, I recommend both :)
Do Ready Player One book and movie have the same ending? Is the movie in general fateful to the book, or did they change things?
I haven’t read the book or seen the movie. But I’m interested in doing both, and I usually see movies before reading the books they’re based off. I’d just like to know what to expect.
