Could you give any advice for "descriptive" writing of any scene or action scenes or mapping out the scenery (Mountains, forests, streets etc) - i believe this is a struggle for Non-English speaking writers due to lack of vast vocabulary.

Common Scenery Description Tips

Vocabulary is clearly an important part of description, but it doesn’t have to be a limit. The most important thing about description in fiction is picking the right details to mention:

How does the details add to the mood of the story? A mountain ridge will be dark, gray and foggy if the overall mood is meant to be mysterious/brooding. In contrast, a mountain can be brilliantly snow-capped, lush green and “smiling down” upon the character if they’re out for a light stroll.

How are the contrasts/complementary aspects being brought out?

Are you using the five senses? You can even combine the senses, ie. blue ringing of the church bells

(If you have the POV character) what 

Some other tips for setting description:

Use similes and metaphors. Creative figures of speech always get my attention as a reader. 

Mention story-specific elements. For example, “The sky was the shade of Zoes’ eyes” or “the mountains looked like a group of trolls sleeping on one another” 

Be concise. Today’s readers don’t want to read paragraphs and paragraphs about one landscape. Outline the larger elements in the scene, their location and general mood. Add some details, then move on. 

If the same location appears multiple times, differentiate the description little by little as you write, instead of trying to lay out one scene in too much detail at once. 

That said, here are some helpful words/phrases:

Forests/Mountains

Color: bone-white, phantom-white, hazy gray

Sound: rumbling, booming grumbling, bellowing clapping, trundling, growling, thundering

Shape: crinkled, crumpled, knotted, grizzled, rumpled, wrinkled, craggy, jagged, gnarled, rugose  

Action: sky-punching/stabbing/piercing/spearing, heaven-touching/kissing, snow-cloaked/hooded/wreathed/festooned

Sloping sides, sharp/rounded ridges, high point/peak/summit

Majestic, gargantuan humbling, vast, massive, titanic, towering, monumental, mighty, vast, humbling

Mountains having faces, etc. 

Seas

Color: blue-green, crystal-clear crystalline, emerald, frothy, hazy, glistening, pristine, turquoise

Sight: A landscape of sand, flat, harsh sunlight, cacti, tumbleweeds, dust devils, cracked land, crumbing rock, sandstone, canyons, wind-worn rock formations, tracks, dead grasses, vibrant desert blooms (after rainfall), flash flooding, dry creek

Some extra tips for locations like parties, where lots of action is going around practically everywhere:

Focus on the important characters - where they are, who they’re with. 

Provide some overall description of the structure of the party scene (a pool, a two-storey house with yard?), then move on to details. 

Don’t try to describe everything.

My design for Female Titan Armin! Based on a lot of reblogs and replies under this post! Dedicated to @aruanimess @blueguydraws and @pitruli who motivated me to work on this sketch further and actually finish the concept!!

In my vision, Armin's female titan is unique through its strenght to lure and command other titans and it's ability to speak! This version of the female titan has an almost siren like voice, rather than a Zeke-like scream.

His strategic mind also helps him come up with very creative solutions to problems such as getting cornered, chased, etc. Very much an imprevisible titan. You can never read his mind.

I also think it would be neat if Armin gave himself away by using certain words or phrases that Annie recognizes as his. This would be in a similar fashion to how we figured out Annie was the female titan through its signature fighting stance!

Maybe he does not speak at all until he is put in a situation where Annie is in danger from another titan, or himself, and he shouts something that clicks inside Annie's mind.

Much like Armin, she takes a long time to admit this to the rest since by this point she had developed feelings for him and had gotten close, seeing him as a pillar of hope in her life. So you can imagine all her hope just shatters the moment she connects the dots😭.

Armin's titan, although tall, is actually not very physically strong and that's why it's almost always followed or surrounded by an army of titans which protect its legs and lower body. However, he can control his hardening very well, which saves him a lot of times. It's all about strategic placement!

In terms of the design, I took a lot of inspiration from Annie's Female Titan, Armin's Colossal Titan and a few other background Female Titans from the last arc.

Funny enough, I went for something more feminine and gentle. Armin feels a lot of comfort in this bodily appearance, and I wanted to reflect that. Especially since him getting the Female Titan might have triggered all sorts of issues both internal and external for him in Marley. This could also be reflected in the way Reiner and Bertholdt treat him or perceive him as the weakest of the group. And also with the scouts due to his weaker body.

There are 13 categories of adjectives that describe the different ways adjectives can be used in the English language.

Descriptive Adjectives

Describe the characteristics, traits, or qualities of a noun or pronoun.

In English, they often are placed directly before the noun they are describing.

Comparative Adjectives

Used to compare two different people or things to each other.

Superlative Adjectives

Used to compare more than two people or things by indicating which one is the most supreme or extreme.

It's been every which way over here, not gonna lie, I'm ready for a month of nothing happening.

That being said, Hobi is about to unleash some music to get us lathered up prior to embarking on his world tour.

But that's a kind of chaos I welcome. More, please. (see what I did there?) Orchestra Mic Drop needs to be on the set list. Manifesting.

Anyway... Jimin. I can't wait to have fun conversations with you about your military service. I'm positive the stories will keep us enraptured for ages. I can't wait to have you back with us. I see the snow falling in Korea and I am thinking of you and your crew shoveling away, then knocking the snow off your boots and heading inside to the mess hall where Jungkook and his crew have cooked up some steaming bowls of hearty stew or soup to warm you all up.

Soon, the spring days will be here and then before we know it, it'll be June 11 and you and Jungkook will be back. As of today, 130 days left. We will already be on a high from welcoming Namjoon and Tae back.

What will that first day be like? Will you and Jungkook sit on that couch in the Hybe building in your military uniforms with balloons and flowers next to you, and turn on a Weverse live just like Jin and Hobi did?

I have finally realized I have entered a phase where all I'm concerned with is what is happening in real time to all the members. What are their thoughts, their state of mind now while fulfilling their duties? What are their concerns, what are the things that bring them joy and satisfaction? What are the forces and events that are impacting them?

We can glean these things from their brief moments they post on Instagram or Weverse, or when their fellow soldiers or colleagues post things that help us see more.

We know Namjoon is about to die from boredom. He knows what is planned and he knows its going to be big.

We know Tae is very proud that he's met his target goal to join the Bangtan buff-line. But we'll have to be the judge of that because Jimin says they're working out and he has "good things to show us" (see: out of this world butt above).

Jungkook needs a little confidence boosting but is ready to belt out karaoke at a moment's notice. Hand that man a mic please.

And Jimin is nervous because he's immersed himself in his soldier role for the past 1 year and 2 months and now must pivot and make the shift back to his real life.

Jin has worked 3 weeks straight and we don't know what that means.

Hobi is busy melding the LA hiphop scene into his DNA and prepping for a concert tour to blow us away. Can't wait.

And Yoongi... an autograph left somewhere but when? Recent? Not recent? Someone saying they MIGHT have spotted him. He's been a ghost. He said he would be. And that's what will make his re-emergence that much more emotional for all of us, to finally see him and his smile.

The fact that Bells Hells are so,,, scattered, is what I think makes them such a compelling party to me. Cause you have Ashton and Fearne who represent the Titans as well as the very earth and fire that molded the planet, Imogen who represents the moon and the storms, Chetney is the wild and the creative, Orym is the nature and the bonds, Dorian is the sky, winds, and music of the air, Laudna is the darkness that can bloom and the joys of life on Exandria, FCG was the automatons and Aeor history. (Braius remains to be seen, but I think of him as the inherit redemption that Exandria had gone through after the Calamity).

I think all of them represent a facet of the planet as a whole and the fact that they are going to ruidus to take care of Predathos and Ludinus is the best option. Because, to me, this isn’t a Gods vs God Killer fight, this is Exandria vs its very Destruction.

They don’t know what’ll happen when Predathos is released. They don’t know if it’ll stop at the gods. Worst case scenario, Exandria is DESTROYED. COMPLETELY. That is still a possibility that they must face.

So to have this final fight be fought by this party made up of all the things of Exandria is so special and a beautiful way to pay homage to the world that critters have witnessed this group travel for almost ten years.

Ok so here's who I think the different lifers would be as Greek gods

Grian- hermes- just a goofy guy, but also the pranks and trickster god fits, the mini wings in some fan art, idk it just fits

Pearl- artemis- fairly self explanatory, again think they just fit together, the moon stuff of course, also dogs for hunting were a big thing for Artemis

Gem- athena- this one's a bit harder to explain but again just vibes wise it fits, gems a good fighter of course and has both a calmer side and a more violent side

Tango- hephaestus- it was a toss up between him and mumbo but I think the combo of him being very red stony and linked with fire makes him the best candidate

Joel- Ares- he's of course very violent a lot of the time and whilst I considered making him Zeus cos of empires s2 I decided to go for Ares cos of the next pick

Lizzy- Aphrodite- I feel like out of the group she has the goes for the most pink and cutesy aesthetic most of the time (which is a great vibe don't get me wrong) which I feel would fit best the vibe of Aphrodite, also as previously mentioned her and Joel being married fits with Aphrodite and Ares being an item

Ren- Eros- this might seem out of left field but I mean there are 18 lifers (I think) and 14 major gods. But anyway, Eros was the male god of desire, fitting with many of his jokes and his vibe and worked for Aphrodite, similar to how Ren swore allegiance to Lizzy, he's basicly Greek Cupid but a twink instead of a baby

Big B- hestia- more of a simple one but they are both simply delightful in my eyes, also Hestia I believe is the goddess of baking and yk the cookie

Jimmy- demeter- I won't lie I was struggling to find one for Jimmy and for Demeter alike but I felt it only fair that she was one of the bread bridge bad boys

B dubs- kronos- whilst a Titan not a god, I don't have much to work with here so chill, anyway he of course is linked to clocks and time in many seasons with him betraying impulse for a clock in third life and being a clocker in limited life, he also fits the kind of unstable vibe of Kronos

Scott- apollo- again this one's mostly vibes and the head crystal things but I feel like theres kind of something to that

Martyn- posiedon- I feel like after his limited life ein and being a mean Gill he's often drawn with coral or other water based stuff, also he ki d of fits posiedons whole mood swings chill one minute but vicious the next

Skizz- Zeus- idk him and impulse are probably the weekest links, but I could see Zeus dressing like him and Zeus was never the brightest ruler in some areas, idk I'm grasping at straws

Impulse- hera- of course married to Zeus, and skizz and impulse are often shipped together, also I feel like he's very maternal toward the group, again grasping at straws here

Etho- hades-idk he just has very spooky and mysterious vibes tbh, especially his skin and I feel like he's almost feared by the other players sometimes, him and Cleo could be switched tbh

Cleo- pershephone- they've definitely got spooky vibes sometimes and of course are a zombie very queen of the underworld like, but they've also got the much brighter side, with the jazzersize suit coming to mind, also yk cletho

Scar- Dionyspus- his laid back attitude definitely fits the god of wine and party's, after all you can't escape the good times, I can definitely imagine his usually biege or brown clothes interwoven with grape vines, idk if that makes sense but you can see the vision

Mumbo- Prometheus? -this one's a stretch but I ran out of God's lol, but I feel like mumbo gas that creativity and ingenuity that is linked with prometheus, he also (usually) acts with forethought and certainly in series 10 is acting with a ton of creative fire. Also breathing life into grumbot and his base robot? Idk I ran out of ideas

Some of these were very week so feel free to say if you have better ideas lol.

Uh so Gravity Falls x The Owl House is canon?! This is the best moment of my life guys

I'd like to think Luz decides to investigate anomalies on Earth when she can since Eda had told her weird stuff on Earth was just magic leaking from the Boiling Isles. She decides on Gravity Falls because it seems that's where the biggest traces of weirdness are. Mabel and Dipper decide to go back to Gravity Falls or attend college near there after high school because it's their home and they've already been away for long enough (and lets be real, everyone besides the stans are probably still there because it's a small town and families hardly ever leave those). Dipper studies paranormal sciences or an applied research major or both and helps continue studying Gravity Falls after he graduates since Ford is off on adventures with Stan. Mabel is studying Fashion Design or Graphic Design with a minor in Photography (the sweaters and scrapbooking stuck) and is now determined to make something (I'm thinking like a fashion line, plushies, or even a cartoon/comic series since she's very creative) inspired by the weirdness of Gravity Falls. 

Luz and the twins end up meeting by chance when they're researching some of the more elusive creatures and they just kind of pause when seeing each other.

Luz: *is sweating nervously because she thinks the twins are freaked out*

Dipper and Mabel: *are sweating nervously because the last time someone found out about the weirdness the FBI got involved*

I think after a very long and awkward conversation they'd actually be really excited to know there are other humans who are open to the weirdness! Luz spent her life not thinking she'd be able to fit in around other humans and the twins have probably felt a little outcasted since they'd been through something no one outside a select few in Gravity Falls can relate to. 

Hijinks ensue. Luz and Mabel feed off of each other's bubbliness and high energy personalities. Luz and Dipper are now combining their research with Luz's knowledge of the Boiling Isles and Dipper's knowledge of the mysteries of Gravity Falls. Luz ends up taking them to the Boiling Isles to introduce them to everyone and suddenly the twins feel like they're at home. Everything is going great until they recognize Eda as a woman from one of Grunkle Stan's old pictures and now they're on a mission to locate their grunkles from whatever adventure they're on to bring them to the Boiling Isles. Stan and Eda reunion (very awkward at first because they're cautious of lingering feelings from the other but they're both well established in life now and so the awkwardness fades, chaos buddies are back) as well as both sets of twins getting to explore the Boiling Isles.

Luz now has a human based support system that isn't her mother which helps her feel ok in her humanity. The twins are able to talk about their experiences with someone who understands and even thrives in the weirdness. 

Dipper and Luz experiment and find new combinations of King's titan glyphs while Mabel and Luz work on a campaign to introduce the two worlds to each other while preventing the creation of more witch hunters or the FBI from being scared because yeesh they don't wanna repeat their trauma. 

Dynamics between the gangs! I think Hunter and Soos would be an awesome pair of bros and I could totally see Amity and Wendy being the cool and composed duo of their respective groups. Luz, Willow, Amity, Mabel and Wendy having a girls night because lord knows they need it. The boys (Hunter, Gus, Dipper and Soos) simultaneously have a boys night but it’s Dipper introducing them to BABBA and Hunter having them carve wood while Soos and Gus try to spook them. Somehow the two groups end up combining and now it’s just a big sleepover with everyone getting into shenanigans. 

King and Mabel would be besties and I can totally see her making little sweaters for him so they can match. Luz catches on and now we have three matching besties. Eda and Stan fuel each other’s gambling habits while Ford and Raine stand on the sidelines getting ready to bail them out. Dipper and Willow would totally get along and I can see them researching the more unique plants of the Boiling Isles together. Gus and Dipper discuss the differences in the worlds of witches and humans. Hunter would introduce the palismans to Mabel and she’d start sprucing up their homes and making them little sweaters. Waddles meant everything to her and if she could help them find homes then she would. 

The Collector visits and all of a sudden the GF group gets PTSD from Bill because ‘oh looks its another all powerful interdimensional being.’ When questioned about it the Collector gets concerned and decides to look into it.

The Collector: *concerned because he knows how he was when he didn’t understand human mortality and thinks this ‘Bill’ just needs to be informed* “YEESH nevermind this guys a mess, you don’t have to worry, he’s being forced into interdimensional therapy. I wouldn’t put it past him to try his old tricks though so don’t make any deals or trust anything triangular’

The GF crew: “HE’S ALIVE????”

The GF group is lowkey paranoid after that because they risked so much to make sure Bill couldn’t hurt them again and the TOH group has to comfort them because they understand. The Collector is assuring them that he’s watching out for them so they don’t have to be too paranoid. The groups go back to doing what they're doing. 

I lowkey wanna see Mabel learning magic while Dipper is lowkey just fine studying and researching since actually doing the magic stuff lost its appeal when Bill possessed him. I haven’t even thought of what Mabel’s palisman would end up being

Or maybe like a squirrel or beaver, Stan’s would definitely be a crow but he and Ford probably are a little put off of doing magic themselves because of similar reasons to Dipper. Actually, maybe Stan would be a little more open since Eda is there and he knows that while she’s mischievous and a troublemaker, she’s nothing like Bill. If Ford and Dipper did wanna learn magic I think Ford gives off hawk palisman vibes while Dipper’s is definitely an owl. I just realized that all the Pines besides Mabel have bird palismans in this. That’s actually pretty good angst potential.

KUSOU SAIKI

・　saiki likes the simplicity and how relaxing the game can be, he wears his germanium ring whilst playing so he can listen to the ingame music without being interrupted by voices in his vicinity.

・　saiki managed to watch death note before he could get spoiled mentally. he guessed some of the plot before it happened but overall he really enjoyed it. his favourite character is L.

・　very reluctantly watched attack on titan after kaidou found out he hadn't seen it (the entire plot got spoiled before he got a chance to watch it, why bother now?). despite knowing what would happen he actually enjoyed it. especially the animation. his favourite character is carla jeager because she reminds him of his mother.

・　mindlessly watches documentaries. he's doing homework? there's a documentary playing in the background. cooking food? documentary playing on the tv. walking home from school? he's got headphones on and is listening to a documentary. NEVER nature documentaries though. he hates them.

SHUN KAIDOU

・　he larps (live action role playing). probably founded a roleplay group in his area.

・　plays overwatch and thinks he’s hot shit because he bought a diamond account.

・　has an absolute temper tantrum when he actually plays on it and falls to bronze 2. tried to main reaper to further his jet black wings persona but got stuck on lucio when playing mystery heroes once and LOVED using him, so he decided to main him.

AREN KUBOYASU

・　aren would def play league of legends.

・　and he gets TOXIC as hell. just says the most diabolical shit imaginable. he has multiple accounts because he gets banned all the time.

RIKI NENDOU

KOKOMI TERUHASHI

・　is one of those girls obsessed with the sims. spends more time in character creation and build mode then actually playing the game.

・　has a THOUSAND mods installed, but she has a good pc (courtesy of her brother) so it still runs well.

・　born to be a marvel girl, forced to play with barbie dolls.

・　is really big on collecting monster high dolls. she scours bidding websites daily to check if a doll that she’s missing has been listed. also makes sure her profile is public on there, sometimes people recognise her and give it for a reduced price. or sometimes free! being the perfect pretty girl has its perks.

・　owns all the monster high movies on dvd.

・　her favourite character is cleo de nile. she wishes she could act like she does.

・　plays love nikki religiously. owns a majority of the sets ingame and bases some of her irl outfits on clothes from it, it’s like her pinterest. she’s one of the richest players in her region.

・　i actually don’t think i’ve mentioned this yet, but she really likes monster high.

MIKOTO AIURA

・　aiura, when not reading fortunes, tends to spend her time playing horror games.

・　she's really invested in scp lore and even created her own scp original character when she was twelve.

・　HUGELY into true crime youtubers. buys those 'solve an unsolved murder' packages and discusses theories on reddit.

・　used to watch judge judy as a child after food and it’s still ingrained into her routine. she invites yumehara over one night for a sleepover and basically forces a watch session on her:

“hm?” yumehara watches as aiura fluffs up two pillows on the floor in front of the television, “oh! are we going to watch a movie?”

aiura looks at her incredulously, mid-fluff on the second pillow, “no, chiyopipi. now we will watch judge judy. since i was so busy with work and school im a whole two seasons behind!”

yumehara squints at the elderly woman on screen, not at all looking forward to this, “how long is it?”

“oh a couple of hours at least!”

she’s lucky she brought plenty of snacks.

CHIYO YUMEHARA

・　similarly to teruhashi, spends a lot of her time playing the sims. she enjoys puppeteering the sims so they do her bidding though... it gets weird.

・　YANDERE SIMULATOR. was an OG player for SURE.

・　used to be really popular in the gacha life community before she just lost all interest.

・　flits from fixation to fixation, she never stays in one fandom for too long. it scares her to be still.

・　yumehara is absolutely an anime girl. especially romance, but she also likes action anime’s.

・　when she heard saiki and kaidou talking about attack on titan in class she decided to make an anime editing account on tiktok (it got successful) and she almost FAINTED when she saw kaidou showing the edit to saiki during class (he doesn’t know it’s her).

・　saiki does though, he actually thinks she’s got nice editing skills. he’d rather lick a foot than tell her that though.

Greetings. I’ll admit, I have no way of knowing for sure how much of what I’m about to ask would really be in your usual wheelhouse, but I couldn’t help but wonder if I could ask for information on the Teen Titans…or more specifically, the lineup featuring Dick Grayson (when he was still Robin and hadn’t yet become Nightwing), Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg. You see, I’ve been a HUGE fan of this team ever since I saw the ‘dramatized retelling’ cartoon about them from the early 2000s as a child. And I’ve not only continued to remain a fan of such in the years since, but also worked to try to gain as much knowledge as I could through reading as many sources as I could find and making educated speculations from there to the best of my ability. However, in light of just how knowledgeable you appear to be, I was wondering if you could give an explanation on the history of that line-up, how accurate that 2000s ‘dramatized retelling’ cartoon was compared to the real thing, and what those five in particular are currently up to nowadays (up to and including their current relationship status if such isn’t too gossipy for you, as I’ve always felt that Starfire was a better endgame girlfriend for Nightwing than Barbara Gordon and am also a proud believer/supporter of Beast Boy and Raven as a couple (though I’m willing to be respectful and not push anything if reality doesn’t match up with my dreams), not to mention have great interest in the rumors I’ve heard about Cyborg and that friend of his named Sarah Simms who runs a social group for disabled kids)?

I'd love to tell you about the Titans but I think you may be falling into something of a common conspiracy theory. Because the Gotham tabloid often get this bee in their bonnets about Bruce Wayne secretly being the mysterious Batman, that of course leads them to bothering Wayne's adoptive children with his first ward, Dick Grayson assumed to be the first Robin and later Nightwing. As is shown by these conspiracy theories (like the equally popular theory that Superman is secretly Daily Planet reporter and Lois Lane's husband Clark Kent) our understanding of who our costumed protectors seem to be in their private lives is seldom as straightforward as we think. This of course goes the same for businesswoman Barbara Gordon who seems to get sucked into this quagmire by virtue of being the daughter of beloved Gotham police commissioner James Gordon. That being SAID, and with groundwork laid, let's talk about the "New Titans"

(A promotional image of Cartoon Network's "Teen Titans" animated series) While I do enjoy what was done with this series, a lot of the same creatives who worked on the classic MAU cartoons also worked on this. It's not what I would call a first person historical document. First of all, obviously it's line up isn't fully correct. Showing only Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven as the "main team" whereas the team's actual membership in that era included the first Kid Flash and Wonder Girl. The cartoon also treats this team as the first assemblage of the Titans, when that is also not true in a historical sense. Robin specifically had been a member of said original Titans alongside Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Aqualad and Speedy. (Who all appeared in the series, save Wonder Girl for some odd reason) I do find it amusing that the show was never able to show Robin without his mask on, because obviously the creative team couldn't know who Robin was beneath his mask whereas the personal details of the other Titans have become at least partially historical record. Again conspiracy theorists love to claim the show contains hidden clues pointing toward the Bat-Wayne theory but I roll my eyes at that as much as I roll my eyes at it anywhere it pops up. (Some particular wingnuts have even chosen to insist that the invented character "Red X" is meant to map onto Wayne's deceased second son, Jason Todd. Which is a theory that is well enough buried simply for being in such poor taste) Most of the stories used in the series are either partially or fully invented, and even what events ARE shown that have a foot in truth are shown DRASTICALLY out of order. Sometimes related to censorship, such as real life mercenary and contract killer Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke being renamed to simply "Slade" and having his profession softened for television. The Doom Patrol is shown as originally captives of the Brotherhood of Evil, whereas in reality during the show's run the entire team save for Beast Boy himself was assumed KIA after their confrontation with the Brotherhood outside Four Heroes, Maine. They wouldn't be fully reunited with Beast Boy until years after the show's conclusion. I was too young to remember this but I've read anecdotes about the Markovian people lodging protest about American actress Ashley Johnson being cast to play Terra, when the real life Terra was obviously Markovian just by her accent. As well as the softening of her portrayal from a knowing and malevolent traitor to the team rather than a misunderstood victim of Slade's manipulations. There was a short lawsuit involving Neil Richards, aka fashion designer "The Mad Mod" due to his portrayal on the show. while Richards did indeed conduct some rather odd criminal activities, he had, by the time of the show's airing served his time and had founded the now famous "Mad Mod" fashion empire. The suit was settled out of court by Richards who made the public statement "I don't want to be the bad guy, attacking the children's favorite cartoons. I just don't want this all to be summoned on top of me again." The only note he asked of the production is that the episodes never speak his legal name. Though the production went the extra mile of changing the character's appearance for the real Mod's famous ginger bob and green smoking jacket to a crimson bowl cut and union jack coat. As for the modern "fates" of these five, they're all rather simple I'm glad to say. All five are still active superheroes, still close friends and still highly trusted members of the superhero community. As for their romantic entanglements, I couldn't comment on that. Not only am I historian, not a gossip columnist but the personal lives of superheroes are kept rather close to the chest. For the most prominent reason that any public knowledge of their romantic attachments would place those people at terrible risk.

"Batman: Caped Crusader" review

Binge-watched this show, and I wanted to be one of many people to share my thoughts on this--plus I was spurred on by getting a wish of mine granted from the show. Make sure to check out the show if you can!

The animation is beautiful--I know this is a weird comparison, but soemthing about the animation reminds me of 2010s Scooby Doo animated films, and I kind of adore that.

The voice acting was...fine--I can't tell if it was poor performances or poor direction; Hamish's Bruce Wayne sounds too raspy/rugged some of the time, like he's still playing Batman, and many of the other actors felt like they were just reading lines rather than performing lines, not enough emotion. IDK if they're more used to live-action work, but voice-acting is a different ballgame, since your voice is all you have to convey the character. A lot of performances fell flat for me, but it wasn't 100% unbearable, just underwhelming. I have some people I'd recommend instead (both familiar to the role and otherwise), but I don't wanna start anything.

LOVED Harley (but not her costume)--Jamie Chung had one of the better performances in the group, and I really LOVED the angle they did for Harley; I feel like the media often flanderizes her as the goofy crazy chick, so seeing her actually utilize her psychology skills (like I've been asking for!) is so satisfying. That said, the outfit has GOT TO GO. Gold and black is gorgeous, but it ples in comparison to her black and red look. And a weird nit-pick; when I first saw the stills, I was under the impression she was wearing a carnival-esque mask rather than face paint, and I find that idea a lot creepier. I wish we'd gotten more of Harley's antics--and even seeing her get close to Bruce in the way she did with Barbara and Renee--before revealing her as a big bad to the public. And I appreciate that she isn't 100% evil; she is doing what she believes is a noble cause, just doing it in an illegal and unethical way. I needed a backstory!

Not enough Batman--Maybe it's just me, but it definitely felt like there were some episodes where Bruce and Batman were supporting characters and more focus was on the GCPD. While I don't mind it too much, I enjoy superhero shows for the superheroes, not the heroes; this is why I had a love/hate relationship with "Gotham."

Batman (and Bruce) isn't quite likeable enough--In earlier incarnations, Batman was more kind and caring before becoming more emotionally closed off with time, but here he's that way from the get-go. Not to mention that Bruce Wayne puts on a facade around everyone, even people he trusts (he probably did that anyway; I can't remember), and his session with Harleen really frustrated me because I don't expect his walls to come down immediately, I don't expect them to be this high this early. I wanted him to be a bit warmer and transparent, rather than curt and cold like he's usually seen in the show. I feel like this is an issue often seen in comics, too; people prioritize Batman's "coolness" and thus push his feelings to the wayside.

Using underrated and familiar villains--I'm sure the real experts are gonna chew me out for this one, but as someone who got into comics in the 2010s and didn't catch up on the acclaimed 90s series, it was fun to see villains I loved and villains I didn't know; one of the best things a popular property can do is use underrated characters, since it helps the show feel original and fresh (thus why "Teen Titans" is so enjoyable; the whole franchise is underrated).

Too modern for the 1940s--I can't put my fingers on it exactly, but the vibes feel too modern; I assume the 1940s was for aesthetics, but since everything else feels updated (from the way people talk to Harley and Renee seemingly being open about their feelings for each other), I don't think it was a wise choice to have it both ways. I see no reason not to have it in modern-day, but I suppose you'd have to get more creative with technology.

Barbara and the Robins--First off, I should've gambled with someone that Jason would be a redhead; I'd have made SO MUCH money. Secondly, I'm not crazy about how all four kids are orphans; If I recall correctly, both Carrie and Stephanie's parents were alive when they joined the Batfamily. In any case, I'm confused on why Barbara is significantly older than them when they're all supposed to be within the same age bracket (I think; someone has told me otherwise since posting this, so I could be wrong). Not to mention, a part of me worries that because of the quartet's young ages and Barbara getting so much screentime as a lawyer, we won't get any of them as Robins or Batgirls unless something drastic happens, and/or we get a time jump.

Overall, I think my biggest gripes are the voice acting and how Batman/Bruce Wayne is written. That said, I enjoyed the show overall. IDK why HBO Max dropped it. Hopefully season 2 will introduce Poison Ivy, Catman, Tim Drake, Ghostmaker, and Gardener, since the finale already showed us a certain someone who IS coming to Gotham.

G/t (Giant/tiny) = A trope depicting at least one character that's either really big or really small (examples: Paul Bunyan, Thumbelina, Transformers, Gulliver's Travels, the Borrowers, Tinkerbell, Ponyo, Grounded [video game], etc.). This trope can be used in multiple ways for multiple reasons depending on who's using it.

OC (Original Character) = Characters made by an artist, writer, or other creative (not part of a fandom or other media).

ROTTMNT or Rise (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) = A 2018 TV series.

Comm = An art commission. This is art that is made in exchange for a price/cost of some sort. A commissioner is the person who pays the artist to draw them a comm.

The World of Giantesses:

Different types of giant women inhabit different areas of the world, unbeknown to most humans (with exceptions). These groups include the Sky Titans and the Ocean Leviathans.

G4E:

The G4E is a squad of 10 ladies who are trying to get their super-hero business up and running (outside of work, they're besties :)). The population of those with super powers are relatively gynocentric (i.e., girls and women are most likely to have super powers, and the few non-female people who have powers are prone to having fewer and weaker abilities).

Plaid Final Girls:

Bunny, Butch, Boggle, and Ballast are four final girls in a semi-apocalyptic world where many live in fear of serial killers. They befriend each other and team up to hunt down killers and save civilians. These girlies started out as fun motivational stickers and have since developed into OCs. There are also other groups of final girls, though I haven't posted about them yet.

Hello!

I should probably answer at least the first one for people who are curious.

There was little to no planning involved. I wanted to do something for April Fool's Day, was feeling kinda down and chose to do something a bit darker than the normal prank. I like puzzles, so thought an ARG could be fun, but let me tell you, those things take PLANNING. And knowledge of the future, because you have to know and be able to adapt to how the audience will react to the puzzles.

Anyway, the basic idea was that the Mod had had a mental break due to pressure over the blog and stumbled onto some forbidden knowlege. The MOD AI then took over all creative control, and the Mod's online persona (even hijacked her brain irl? idk). The AI was obsessed with maintaining order and audience engagement, even at the cost of canon. That's why they had a poll over the popularity of the characters and removed the unpopular ones from the canon over time, putting them into a dimension below them on the ladder of reality. This means they could show up in the blog as characters in fiction they read, just as the blog characters are from a book in our reality.

The removal of characters, even small ones, caused ripple effects across the reality of the blog. These resulted in changes such as:

Artemis having 2 blue eyes (because Opal was erased).

No one knowing who No. 1 was (because he was out of the dimension at the time of the takeover, so the MOD AI couldn't erase him).

A scar across Artemis's face from a troll during their first adventure. Artemis kidnapped Root, not Holly, and so the troll fight went very differently.

Holly looks more punk. After saving Root from Artemis, the two bonded over their shared interest in breaking the rules. Holly spends more time on the surface as a result, and Root lets her because she keep Artemis under control.

Minerva and Artemis meet organically. She doesn't know about the People.

Artemis and Minerva are martial artists (Artemis learned the importance of self-defense after his scar).

Holly never becomes commodore because she's too punk.

Artemis Sr. is dead for realsies, though he died after the twins were born.

Angeline falls back into depression after her husband's death.

Artemis and Holly never go back in time, and so never kiss.

Root never dies.

Artemis and Holly don't lose 3 years during the Hybras debacle.

Butler has hair.

As more people are erased, Artemis gets more reckless.

The twins are raised by Juliet after Angeline falls back into a depression.

The twins don't know about fairies.

Foaly is more of a Steve Jobs type, focused on making money.

Angeline dies in childbirth with the twins, which turns Artemis into a super-serious and dangerous mobster type because he had to provide for his brothers.

And those are all the changes I could find. I had a bunch more planned, whittling down to just Artemis, Holly, and Butler, and how the loss of the supporting cast would change them as people. But this blog wasn't a good venue for an ARG, as the audience is a come-and-go sort of group. Also, the puzzles weren't going over as planned. Ultimately, I wanted the blog to be enjoyable over consistent, so I decided to abandon the ARG and preserve the sanctity of the blog itself. I guess you could say it was our jump the shark moment.

As for your second request... it sounds fun, but not something I'd draw personally. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
