You got an ask that reminded me: I recently took a nutrition course for breastfeeding and perhaps you would like to hear my takeaways:
The biggest suggestion is soups. Bone broths, soups, stews
Lots of fats and proteins obv
"Warming" spices, like cardamom, ginger, star anise, turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, paprika, nutmeg, and so on
Warm things as opposed to cold
I think these suggestions are mostly to build up your strength after birth, but they also put emphasis on easy digestion, which means you'll have less in your way of making milk.
Happy lactating lmao
omg thank you, also helps cuz my tummy is really sensitive so if this stuff is easy on it i'd love that, and i know for sure id love those spices my mouth is wateringggg thankyouuuu 🤤🤤🤤🤤
#lactation nation#love getting breastfeeding tips it's awesome#genuinely makes me so happy to lactate#i'm so happy to be a cow!!!!

Breastfeeding: the top 10 tips
Breastfeeding tips
Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful bond between a mother and her baby. However, it can also be challenging and overwhelming, especially for first-time mothers. As a healthcare professional, it's important to provide new mothers with the proper education and resources to help them successfully breastfeed their newborns. In this blog post, we will discuss the top 10 tips for breastfeeding, from proper latching techniques to overcoming common breastfeeding challenges. Our goal is to alleviate any anxiety or confusion new mothers may have and provide them with the knowledge and confidence to breastfeed comfortably and effectively. We understand that every mother and baby is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Therefore, we will offer a range of tips and strategies so that new mothers can find what works best for them and their baby.Breastfeeding is not only beneficial for the baby's health, but it also has numerous benefits for the mother, such as reducing the risk of breast cancer and postpartum depression. 1. Find a comfortable position.Finding a comfortable position while breastfeeding is crucial for the mother's comfort and the baby's ability to latch on properly. Before beginning a feeding session, it's important to find a supportive chair or couch with good back support. Many mothers find that using a nursing pillow can be helpful in finding a comfortable position. The pillow can be placed under the baby's head and body to bring the baby up to the level of the breast, which can help reduce strain on the mother's neck and back. Experimenting with different positions, such as the cradle hold or the football hold, can also help find the most comfortable position for both mother and baby. Remember, a comfortable position is key to a successful and enjoyable breastfeeding experience.2. Ensure proper latch technique. When it comes to successful breastfeeding, ensuring proper latch technique is essential. A good latch is important to prevent nipple soreness and damage, and to ensure that your baby is receiving enough milk. To achieve a proper latch, it is important to make sure your baby is positioned correctly and that their mouth is wide open. You should aim to have your baby’s mouth covering as much of the areola as possible, with their lips flanged outwards. You can gently guide your baby’s head towards your breast, but avoid pushing their head onto your breast. Remember to allow your baby to take the lead in finding the right position and angle, and don’t rush the process. With practice and patience, you and your baby will soon develop a comfortable and effective breastfeeding routine.3. Nurse frequently to maintain supply.Nursing frequently is one of the most important tips to maintain a healthy milk supply. The more often you nurse, the more milk your body produces. When you nurse, your body receives signals to create more milk, so nursing frequently will help your body maintain milk production. Aim to nurse at least 8-12 times per day, or whenever your baby shows signs of hunger, such as rooting or sucking on their hands. It's also important to ensure that your baby is latching on correctly to optimize milk transfer and prevent discomfort. Remember, the more you nurse, the more milk you will produce, so make sure to prioritize frequent nursing sessions to maintain your milk supply.4. Avoid pacifiers and bottles. When it comes to breastfeeding, it's important to establish a strong and successful nursing relationship with your baby. One key factor in achieving this is to avoid the use of pacifiers and bottles in the early stages of breastfeeding. This is because the sucking action required for breastfeeding is different from that of a pacifier or bottle, and introducing these items too soon can cause confusion for your baby and potentially lead to nipple confusion or an aversion to breastfeeding. It's recommended to exclusively breastfeed for the first six months of your baby's life, and avoiding pacifiers and bottles during this time can help ensure a successful and fulfilling nursing experience for both you and your baby.5. Stay hydrated throughout day.Staying hydrated is a top priority for breastfeeding mothers, as it helps to maintain an adequate milk supply. It is important to drink enough fluids throughout the day to keep your body hydrated. Experts recommend drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water per day, and even more if you are active or if the weather is hot. You can also include other fluids such as milk, fruit juice, or coconut water to keep yourself hydrated. If you find it difficult to keep track of your water intake, try carrying a water bottle with you at all times and take sips throughout the day. Staying hydrated is one of the most crucial tips for breastfeeding mothers to ensure their milk supply stays consistent and their bodies remain healthy.6. Use nipple cream for discomfort.Breastfeeding can be a rewarding and bonding experience between a mother and her baby, but it can also come with some discomfort. One tip to alleviate soreness and chafing is to use nipple cream. Nipple cream is a lanolin-based ointment that is safe for both mom and baby. It helps to soothe and protect the nipples from dryness, cracking, and irritation during breastfeeding. Using nipple cream regularly can also help to prevent nipple trauma and reduce the risk of infection. It is important to choose a high-quality product that does not contain any harmful ingredients, and to apply it after each feeding and as needed throughout the day. Nipple cream is a simple but effective solution to make breastfeeding a more comfortable experience for both mom and baby.7. Wear supportive nursing bras.Wearing supportive nursing bras is an essential tip for breastfeeding mothers. Not only do nursing bras provide easy access for your baby to breastfeed, but they also offer the support and comfort that your breasts need during this time. Look for bras with wide shoulder straps and adjustable back closures that can accommodate changes in your breast size, which is common during breastfeeding. Avoid underwire bras as they can cause discomfort and potentially lead to blocked milk ducts. It is recommended to invest in at least three to four nursing bras to ensure that you always have a clean and comfortable bra ready to use. With proper support and comfort, a nursing bra can make your breastfeeding journey more comfortable and convenient.8. Seek help if struggling.Breastfeeding can be a challenging experience for many new mothers, especially in the early stages. It's important to remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you're struggling with breastfeeding, don't hesitate to reach out for assistance from a lactation consultant, your healthcare provider, or a support group. These professionals can provide guidance on proper latch and positioning techniques, offer tips for increasing milk supply, and address any concerns or questions you may have. Remember, you don't have to go through the breastfeeding journey alone. Seeking help is an essential step in ensuring a successful and positive breastfeeding experience for both you and your baby.9. Eat a balanced diet.Eating a balanced diet is essential for maintaining good health, especially for breastfeeding mothers. It is important to consume a variety of foods from all food groups to provide the necessary nutrients for both the mother and baby. A balanced diet should include fruits, vegetables, protein, whole grains, and healthy fats. It is recommended that breastfeeding mothers consume an additional 500 calories per day to support milk production. Including foods rich in calcium, iron, and vitamin D can also be beneficial for both the mother and baby. It is important to consult with a healthcare provider or a registered dietitian for personalized dietary recommendations to ensure optimal health and nutrition during breastfeeding.10. Take care of yourself too.Breastfeeding is a wonderful experience for both you and your baby, but it can also be demanding and exhausting. It's important to remember that taking care of yourself is just as crucial as taking care of your baby. This means getting enough rest, eating a healthy and balanced diet, and staying hydrated. Breastfeeding can burn up to 500 calories a day, so it's important to replenish your body with nutritious foods and plenty of water. Don't forget to take breaks and allow yourself some alone time to relax and recharge. Remember, taking care of yourself will not only benefit you, but also your baby who will thrive on a healthy and happy mother. So, make sure to prioritize self-care and seek support from your partner, family, or healthcare provider if needed. In conclusion, breastfeeding can be a challenging and rewarding experience for both mother and baby. Following these top 10 tips can help overcome common difficulties and provide a successful breastfeeding journey. However, it's important to remember that every mother and baby is unique, and seeking support from a lactation consultant or healthcare provider can be beneficial in addressing individual concerns and needs. By prioritizing self-care, seeking help when needed, and staying committed to the breastfeeding process, mothers can provide their babies with the many health benefits of breast milk while also strengthening the bond between mother and child.

Breastfeeding Myths and Facts: Separating Fiction from Reality
A wonderful and natural method to nourish your baby is breastfeeding. It gives your baby all the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Breastfeeding not only delivers the best nutrition for the infant, but it also has many other advantages for the mother.
Breastfeeding for the baby can help strengthen their immune system, lower their risk of illnesses, and minimise their risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). Additionally, breastfeeding fosters a close link between mother and child by providing safety and comfort to your infant.
Breastfeeding can help moms lose weight, cut their risk of postpartum depression, and lower their risk of developing certain cancers. Additionally, nursing generates hormones that facilitate bonding and relaxation, making it a wonderful method to establish a connection with your child.
Along with the beautiful journey of breastfeeding, it comes along with lots of myths and misconceptions. Many mothers are not even aware of the reality of these myths.
Breastfeeding is easy: It’s not easy to breastfeed a baby because a mother needs practical support with positioning the baby so that the baby can latch. Breastfeeding takes time and practice for both mothers and babies and is also time intensive, so mothers need space and support at home and work.
Mothers should only eat plain food while breastfeeding: breastfeeding mothers should need to eat a balanced diet. There is no need to change food habits unless the doctor suggests it.
You should separate the newborn baby and mother so that she can take rest: Doctors, nurses, and midwives encourage the practice of skin-to-skin contact immediately after the birth. Bringing the baby to direct contact with the mother helps to establish breastfeeding.
Mothers shouldn’t breastfeed if sick: Mothers can typically continue nursing when unwell, depending on the disease. You must ensure that you receive the proper care and enough rest, good nutrition, and hydration. Often, the antibodies your body produces to combat your sickness or illness will be passed on to your baby, helping him or her to develop their defences.
It’s hard to wean the baby if mothers breastfeed for more than a year: There is evidence that nursing for up to two years is advantageous for both women and children, but there is no proof that stopping breastfeeding beyond one year is more complicated. Since every mother and baby are unique, they must decide jointly how long to nurse.
Breastfeeding is a journey for mothers and babies that is both challenging and rewarding. In today’s generation, too many households believe in such myths and probably there is no one to debunk them. Filaantro along with Child Help Foundation has helped breastfeeding mothers understand the benefits of breastfeeding, the myths, and the facts. The organization has also established 18 Baby Feeding Centres in Pan India at hospitals, temples, and railway stations. Through this initiative, 56,615 beneficiaries have benefitted. Thus, helping mothers with a safe and secure haven to comfortably breastfeed their babies.

BREASTFEEDING 101
(My blissful 8 week journey)
Cross cradle and shove your breast in her mouth
Don’t force your breast in her mouth, she knows how to latch
Babies know how to feed from the moment they’re born
Feeding is a learned skill for you and your baby
Keep her nose out from your breast so she can breathe
Don’t worry about her nose, if she can’t breathe, she’ll pull away
Use a nipple shield, they’re a godsend
I’d get rid of the nipple shield if I were you
She’s definitely a baby who likes to suck, give her a dummy
Kiss feeding goodbye if you introduce a dummy
Don’t worry about dehydration, she looks great
She’s put weight on but not enough
You’ll need to express or introduce formula
Don’t express or top up, your milk supply will drop
Expressing will increase your supply
You can’t keep expressing, it’s not sustainable
Wake her every few hours to feed
Let her sleep, she’ll wake when she’s hungry
She needs to learn how to self settle
She’s too young for a routine
If feeding’s a struggle, you need to stop for your own mental health
Push through, breast milk is so important
Use round teats
Use flat teats
Don’t weigh her regularly, there’s no need
Should we weigh again in a couple of days? Let’s weigh her nappies too
Use a syringe for top ups instead of a bottle
Syringes impact the anatomy of the mouth
Those pumps aren’t strong enough, you need hospital grade
That machine is too strong
Hold her behind the neck
Avoid the neck, she needs to be able to move her head
Feed on demand
Don’t feed more than 3 hourly or she’ll get reflux
Lay with her skin to skin and let her fall asleep at the breast
Make sure you don’t fall asleep
Formula babies are just as healthy
Breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer and sudden infant death syndrome
She’s fussing because your flow is too fast
She’s fussing because she’s not getting milk fast enough
Has she got a tongue tie?
Tongue ties don’t impact feeding
You don’t need a wide mouth
Compress your breast like a burger and wait until her mouth is wide
Breastfeeding is so natural
Breastfeeding is a huge challenge
Get help
Don’t get help, follow your instincts
Co sleep for attachment
Don’t co sleep, she could die
How do you feel it’s going Bec?
Be honest

Nurturing Mothers and Babies: The Comprehensive Breastfeeding Program
Introduction
Breastfeeding is a beautiful and natural way for mothers to nourish their babies, providing essential nutrients and fostering a strong bond between parent and child. However, it’s not always as straightforward as it may seem. Many new mothers face challenges and uncertainties when it comes to breastfeeding, which is why comprehensive support programs have become increasingly important. This article explores the world of breastfeeding programs, their benefits, and the vital role played by healthcare professionals in supporting new mothers on their breastfeeding journey.
The Importance of Breastfeeding Support
Breastfeeding offers numerous benefits for both mother and baby, including optimal nutrition, enhanced immune system development, and reduced risk of certain diseases. However, many women encounter difficulties that can lead to frustration and early cessation of breastfeeding. This is where professional support becomes crucial.
A well-structured breastfeeding program provides education, guidance, and hands-on assistance to help mothers overcome common challenges and achieve their breastfeeding goals. These programs typically involve a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together various healthcare professionals to offer comprehensive care.
Key Components of a Breastfeeding Program
A successful breastfeeding program encompasses several essential elements:
a) Prenatal Education: Classes and workshops that prepare expectant mothers for breastfeeding.
b) Hospital Support: Immediate assistance during the first hours and days after birth.
c) Postpartum Follow-up: Continued support in the weeks and months following delivery.
d) Professional Consultations: Access to experts such as lactation consultants in Arizona who can address specific concerns.
e) Support Groups: Opportunities for mothers to connect with peers and share experiences.
f) Resources and Education: Providing mothers with reliable information and tools to succeed in their breastfeeding journey.
The Role of Lactation Consultants
Lactation consultants Phoenix play a pivotal role in breastfeeding programs. These specialized professionals are trained to assist mothers with various breastfeeding challenges, offering expert advice and personalized solutions. A lactation consultant Phoenix AZ can provide:
One-on-one consultations to address individual concerns
Hands-on assistance with positioning and latching techniques
Guidance on pumping and milk storage
Support for mothers with special circumstances, such as premature babies or multiple births
The Pediatrician’s Role in Breastfeeding Support
While lactation consultants offer specialized breastfeeding support, pediatricians also play a crucial role in promoting and supporting breastfeeding. A pediatrician lactation consultant in Arizona combines medical expertise with specialized knowledge in lactation, offering a unique perspective on infant feeding and development.
These professionals can:
Monitor the baby’s growth and development in relation to feeding practices
Identify and address any medical issues that may affect breastfeeding
Provide guidance on introducing solid foods while continuing to breastfeed
Offer support and resources for extended breastfeeding
Choosing the Right Breastfeeding Program
When selecting a breastfeeding program, consider the following factors:
Availability of certified lactation consultant Arizona professionals
Comprehensive services covering prenatal to postpartum periods
Flexible scheduling options for consultations and support groups
Integration with pediatric care for seamless support
Overcoming Common Breastfeeding Challenges
A robust breastfeeding program addresses various challenges that mothers may face, including:
Latching difficulties
Low milk supply
Engorgement and mastitis
Returning to work while breastfeeding
By providing education, support, and practical solutions, these programs empower mothers to overcome obstacles and continue breastfeeding successfully.
The Impact of Breastfeeding Programs on Public Health
Breastfeeding programs have a significant positive impact on public health. By increasing breastfeeding rates and duration, these programs contribute to:
Improved infant and maternal health outcomes
Reduced healthcare costs associated with formula feeding and related illnesses
Enhanced bonding between mothers and babies, promoting emotional well-being
Increased community awareness and support for breastfeeding
Future Directions in Breastfeeding Support
As our understanding of lactation and infant nutrition continues to evolve, breastfeeding programs are also adapting. Future developments may include:
Increased integration of technology, such as telehealth consultations with a lactation consultant in Arizona
More personalized support based on genetic and metabolic factors
Enhanced workplace support for breastfeeding mothers
Greater emphasis on partner and family involvement in breastfeeding support
Conclusion
Breastfeeding programs play a vital role in supporting mothers and babies, promoting optimal nutrition, and fostering strong parent-child bonds. By combining the expertise of professionals like lactation consultants Phoenix and pediatricians with comprehensive education and support services, these programs empower mothers to overcome challenges and achieve their breastfeeding goals.
