OC Valentines Challenge — Day 4 — Friends to Lovers
Phoenix Halliwell & Thomas Alden
My personal favorite, when they go from friends to lovers. Their enemies know their worst sides, the heroes know their best, but their friends know both and fall in love with them anyways. Show off an oc ship that were friends before lovers..

“I’m wearing two of three pieces belonging to a Thomas Farthing suit made of Abraham Moon tweed with a club collar Brooks Brothers oxford shirt, a 50s silk repp tie, J. Press silver collar pin, and Alden No. 8 shell cordovan loafers. My style is heavily inspired by 50s-60s Ivy style and British town and country tailoring with some pops of color thrown in for fun. I lived in London for a few months and fell in love with the tweeds and flannels there as well as Savile Row suiting. My more casual outfits draw from the sportswear present in 50s-60s Ivy style due to the relaxed, looser cuts of that genre and the playfulness that style encourages.”

5000 Follower Celebration Event!
Hi guys!
I know it’s close on the heels of the Kinktober Bingo Card but I’m about to hit 5k followers and wanted to throw a little celebration event.
It’s insane to me that I’ve reached almost 5000 followers. I can’t thank you all enough for following my insane little piece of Tumblr and interacting with my posts.
In celebration of the event we’ll be doing another Bingo Card but this time the rules are a little different.
As this is an event celebrating my followers I will only be accepting submissions by my followers, that means NO ANONS. If an Anon ask pops in for a submission on the bingo card, I will not be assigning the square.
The Rules:
No Anons
You must be a follower of the blog
One Bingo Square per Character
One Bingo Square/Char per ask
When a character is assigned I will add them to the bingo card so you can see it.
If a Char/Square isn't working for me, the Square will be reset.
As usual check the pinned post on my blog to see who I'm writing for. I've added a few newbies recently.
Any questions just ask!

It's Fine Press Friday!
Among the several Chicago fine presses that came out to the Arts and Crafts movement was the Blue Sky Press, which ran from 1899 to 1906. Design, printing and business operations were undertaken by Alfred G. Langworthy, while art and literature were the purview of Thomas Wood Stevens and, until 1902, Alden Charles Noble. In his notable survey of the field, The Private Press (1983), Roderick Cave notes that:
In some respects the Blue Sky books reflect the work put out by the aesthetic publishers like the Bodley Head no less than Kelmscott work. Although undoubtedly derivative, their design was not slavish in its following a particular style, and the books they published remain charming examples of the taste of the period.
How Jaques Came into the Forest of Arden was published in 1901 by Blue Sky in a limited edition of 700 copies numbered and initialed by Langworthy. The text is by American author and journalist Elia W. Peattie (1862-1935), with illustrations by American illustrator and cartoonist Walter J. Enright (1879-1969). The selection this kind of text and illustration was characteristic of Blue Sky productions. Again, Roderick Cave:
[The] press produced competent if not especially distinguished work by contemporary writers as well as a number of standard texts, at a time when so many private printers' imagination stretched no further than another version of Sonnets from the Portuguese.
The book was printed on Van Gelder handmade paper with initials by American artist Harry Everett Townsend (1879-1941), hand-illuminated by Elia Peattie's sister Barbara Peattie.

Glad Vipin is as suspicious as I am of the legend tripper, as I was beginning to think Jeremy was the only one who could see her.
But he introduced her as "the legend tripper I was telling you about" and I'm like You. Do not. Know. Her. Name.
In fairness it would probably be awkward to ask now since they've had like 18 conversations and gotten smashed together but still.
#bridgewater#is this season only 10 episodes again?#my prediction is alden's gonna come out of the liminal and anne and thomas are gonna go in#and then jeremy will take care of alden#misha collins adopting kids who age weirdly is kind of an established thing

Oppenheimer
★★★★★ Apabullante.

week nineteen (missed) (31/8/22) (00:05)
Beautiful Creatures
9/10
he looks 27. omg it’s the guy from me earl and the dying girl. oh my god the special effects of the tattoo. also the whole “ethan wate drove me home?!” thing doesn’t work bc they never established him as a popular kid. ok they’re kinda cute. but we’re only 38 mins in which means somethings gonna go terribly wrong. omg it’s the flash from smallville. midge?! how is there still 30 mins left. there’s something about a southern accent that makes everything he says sound fine. like he’s kinda toxic but like i don’t even care. i actually love them and this movie. they’re in love the whole time and it’s amazing. wtf noooooo. love her for that but nooooooo. why is it always the confederates. wtf do you mean that’s the end?!?!?!?! so beefy but not between them which is all i want. loved it. a touch slow but i don’t care.

Beautiful Creatures (2013)
Beautiful Creatures cannot escape the fact that it is a romantic gothic fantasy film aimed at young adults and that it was (almost certainly) green-lit to bank on the success of the Twilight franchise. It is shackled to a specific kind of drama, to certain turns, and to a mythology aimed at a specific crowd. When the film is beholden to its obligations, it's at its weakest but the rest is quite good. This makes it a picture worthy of approval, flawed as it may be.
In Gatling, South Carolina, high-schooler Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) has been having recurring dreams of a girl he does not know. On the first day of school, he sees Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) and learns she has been dreaming of him too. Though the rumours of her family worshipping demons makes her an outcast, Ethan is drawn to Lena. They fall in love. Then, Lena reveals to him that she is from a family of casters - magically-endowed people who, on their sixteenth birthday, radically change as they choose either the side of light or darkness. Despite her uncle Macon’s protests (he's played by Jeremy Irons), Ethan is convinced their love will prevent Lena from turning towards evil.
Yes, the planet depends upon the love of two people who are too young to marry. Yes, two worlds collide as non-magic and casters profess their feelings for one another - something that’s forbidden by the adults! High school was bad enough when you had to worry about homework and bullying. Now the stakes are REALLY high because Lena’s uncontrolled bursts of sorcery could mean her expulsion! I know it all sounds very cheesy when broken down quickly. You’re right. This is admittedly silly stuff and no amount of conviction from the actors can truly sell it. Perhaps the novel functions better. It’s hard to say.
Despite this, there’s plenty to like for those whose emotions do not run as wild as Ethan and Lena. For one, the actors’ chemistry is fantastic. You love them as a couple. Their funny quips and believable moments of flirtation have you invested way before any magic stuff comes in, which might be why all the talk about destinies and prophecies, curses and hidden libraries makes you chuckle a bit. Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert have you sold right away. The supporting cast is also quite good. Jeremy Iron’s accent as Macon comes in and out a bit but you like his character thanks to script's abundant humour and snappy dialogue. Beautiful Creatures also has the courtesy of ending on an actual conclusive note. None of this Golden Compass or The Darkest Minds “we’ll see you next time!” nonsense.
What Beautiful Creatures desperately needed was to be just a little bit better. I can still give it a mild recommendation, particularly for the teenagers this film is aimed at. I remember what it was like finding that first love and being caught in that whirlwind of emotion called school, parents, friends, and romance. This will absolutely resonate with young adults. Their parents might not feel the same level of enthusiasm. When you get down to it, this is merely a gender-reversed version of Stephenie Meyer’s plain girl, handsome vampire book. It’s better acted, better directed, better written and more interesting but a copycat. A good copycat but still a copycat. (On Blu-ray, March 29, 2019)

This one is more somber than most (despite the sunny locale). When I set out to photograph cemeteries in Massachusetts, I imagined sprawling hills of death's head graves and a famous grave (or two).
But we cannot discount those that have been forgotten.
This is "Cemetery Hill" in Northampton, MA - it is the final resting place of the unclaimed bodies of those that died at the Northampton State Hospital, a mental institution that ran from 1856-1993.
The records seem to indicate that these people were buried on Cemetery hill: John A. L. Adams (Dec 1852-15 Feb 1905), Annie Bazzell (unknown - 19 November 1904), Kate Benton (unknown - 13 Sep 1903), Jennie Johnson Bregquist (4 Dec 1875 - 1926). Sarah Chapin Brundage (1842 - 27 Mar 1906), Thomas Grove Chaffee (19 Sep 1837 - 26 Jan 1912), Miles B Hicks (1821 - 21 Feb 1898), William Kuhn (1847 - 6 Dec 1884), Catherine Lockerly (1830 - 6 Jul 1884), Francis Alden Loud (10 Oct 1825 - 19 Mar 1885), Elizabeth Lowe (14 Oct 1880 - 12 Oct 1905). Nancy Sage Main (Oct 1813 - 26 Apr 1903), Josephine Villancoeur Monier (unknown - 19 April 1905), John O'Brien (1832 - 21 Sep 1883), Emma Patterson Petterson (unknown - 10 Feb 1905), Melvin C. Stone (unknown - 3 August 1906), and Michael Tool (unknown - 24 January 1905).
