came up with this au like actually 2 years ago where it's mainly empires 2 smallidarity centric, with Jimmy as a student council member and Joel as an honours student who doesn't like the way Jimmy runs things around the school.
As payback for the regulations Jimmy put up that Joel thought was stupid, Joel does these elaborate 'The Office' style pranks on Jimmy (specifically) while Jimmy retaliates by trying his best to dig up dirt on Joel. This banter goes on for a while— however Joel ends up doing the pranks less as a statement, and instead more just to see how Jimmy would react... with his comical, cartoony villain yells, and... weirdly cute face....? very very old au drawings below:

😭😭 joel does NOT look like a highschooler here 😭😭😭😭 (i also wanted to draw angst in the first two ig idk a year later it's pretty cringe [i am still cringe]) (also partially inspired by when I read "Go for it, Nakamura!" and the mc reminded me of joel for no actual reason. or maybe i was just thinking about that manga while drawing smallidarity. idk)

I think these doodles were genuinely the first instance of me converting from being against mcyt shipping to for shipping LMAOO
I feel like there's something to be said about how the Sheikah and the Gerudo are essentially two sides of the same coin.
This is how I see it: The Yiga Clan reflects the Gerudo from Ocarina of Time where both groups are ostracized and persecuted to a point where there is little room for compromise or coalition with the Royal Family. Hell, these people even live in the desert and are called thieves (which is just Hyrule's shorthand for "we've killed so many of them and left the rest to fend for themselves in a place that bears little to no resources needed for survival") just like the Gerudo.
And it's heartbreaking in a way, how Urbosa calls the Yiga members traitors instead of realizing she's looking at a mirror of what her people had once endured. Especially since the game heavily implies that her involvement as a Champion is largely characterized by her effort to try and redeem her tribe since the events of Ocarina of Time to the rest of Hyrule for something that was not even their fault.
Sure, there is no denying that Ganondorf was ultimately misguided in his conquest for power, but there's the part that goes unsaid where Demise ensured that his hatred would reincarnate, no? And well, hatred isn't mindless. It cannot exist without a trigger.
The Royal Family of Hyrule forced his hand, just like it forced the Sheikah's. And the sooner Urbosa could have realized that, then the sooner she would have understood why the Yiga were so hellbent on vengeance.
I know there is a myriad of evidence for both the end of Midleven and Byler endgame, but….there will never be anything that proves to me that Mike and El’s relationship is over emotionally (if not outwardly yet) than the post-fight letter fiasco of S4 volume one.
Like. In canon—not subtext, or scripts, or even relating to Will “writing the single greatest Mike/El fanfic in his head” Byers—there is nothing more telling than this little series of events in S4 episodes 3 and 4, when we get (plain, simple and in direct narrative order) what Dr. Owens explains to El will happen if she leaves to go get her powers back (to save Hawkins):
Followed by this elaboration to Mike, Will and Jonathan:
Like.
For everybody—us, and all the characters involved—this is the framework for understanding what is going to happen. El is going to be inaccessible for months or even forever, in the hopes that El might be able get her powers back / help to stop Vecna.
And yet, even knowing these are their final words, the last thing El might be saying to Mike maybe forever—this is what El decides to say? A terse, emotionally distant few lines referencing what he’s done to hurt her most…followed by from?
And THIS is what Mike decides to DO with it?!
Regardless of the madness that happens next/brings all of them back to focusing on/worrying about El…this was the framework of their relationship after their fight, and the sheer amount of emotional disengagement from both of them here is so brutal I literally cannot believe vol ii went the way it did. Grand romantic gestures spurred on by someone else’s feelings or not…all of this screams (as Mike so aptly put) that these two have indeed reached the fight you can’t come back from.
Mike and El’s relationship hit critical mass the second they had that fight, and no amount of grand last ditch efforts were gonna save it (especially not with Mike’s confession now tied directly to Max’s death)? Almost all positive emotional ties—nevermind their romantic relationship—were already falling apart at the seams so hard that even with that monologue El isn’t talking to him, stays slamming doors, and waking off to pick up dead versions of the flowers Mike got her.
Not to mention…this isn’t even the first letter of El’s Mike crumpled? Even before the madness of California?
i have very little in terms of actual art LMAO but i CAN explain the sword thing because i checked and i did in fact never make this plot point public. i struggled for a while with creating a villain for this story until i realized that. i put "sword" in the title of the game. of course it has to be about the fucking sword. DUH.
so i want SOF to deal very heavily with religion, specifically the way in which hyrule's religion forms post-sksw but pre-reincarnation. i've placed it on the timeline directly after sksw, making it the first actual reincarnation in hyrule. what this means is that there's no actual proof yet that the reincarnation thing is real and not just an insane bluff on demise's part, and so several key characters including link and zelda barely believe in hylia or demise at all when the story starts. my thought with this setting's version of ganon is that he's the polar opposite of the nonbelievers. The gerudo don't really exist as of now, but he DOES come from the desert region of hyrule--specifically, he was raised in a cultlike offshoot of the sheikah religion which interpreted the hylia/demise myth completely literally and believes that a doomsday is coming, heralded by the foretold return of demise. Because of this, he knows more about the cycle and how to set it in motion than basically any other character. Crucially, he and his people are some of the only ones at this point aware of the existence of the master sword.
ganon finds. a sword. a sword which he THINKS is the master sword. and this theory is only reinforced when the sword begins to speak to him about his destiny and the salvation of hyrule. unfortunately it is not the master sword and he ends up basically a pawn in the greater plans of what's left of demise & ghirahim within that sword, manipulated into attempting to revive demise and destroy the reincarnated hero and princess. he remains in denial until basically the very end of the final battle, completely convinced that he is the true savior of hyrule and LINK is the one being misled. ghirahim is a very good manipulator lol
Spoilers for Alan Wake/Control games and DLCs: one of the things I really like in Alan Wake 2 is the confirmation that, no, Alan can’t create something out of nothing. There were implications in-story that supported that, but it was good to have that be a big part in the sequel. The AWE control dlc easily made it seem like Alan himself had a role in the events of the game and the formation of the FBC, and, personally, seeing it through that lens cheapened a lot of the game and Jesse’s story. Instead, having his writing influence the Hiss and try to manipulate (even out of desperation) Jesse/the FBC to end Hartman and get help, fit right into plot and conflicts of Alan Wake 2, with Alan being sympathetic, but also an asshole for trying to change and control people’s lives in his writing.
