some dude yelped from the other side of the room.

he looked up, blinked, & then smiled at you like you were a jane austen heroine & he was finally on the last page.

you nearly collapsed.

"what the hell," you panted, already hurrying to him. falling to your knees, scanning his face, his neck, his wrists▰anything. "are you okay? are you hurt?"

he shook his head, serene as always. "i'm fine. he just needed bargaining power. honestly? i think he regrets it."

you didn't even glance▰just nodded back at the unsub. "you're lucky you're a pussy.”

the guy whimpered.

right then, the other team members came charging in, ready for battle, only to stop. pause. to process▰what the fuck?

you were kneeling before reid, still holding his face as if he were going to evaporate if you let go.

he was staring at you like you hung the freaking stars.

the unsub? oh, he definitely regrets his decisions in life.

morgan blinked. "well, damn."

"i think i'm in love with her now." emily joked. but the shock on her voice was there.

jj could only mutter, "this is honestly better than any soap opera out there."

hotch stepped forward, unreadable but voice calm. "you okay, reid?"

spencer nodded, eyes only on you. "i am now."

later, at your apartment, he curled up in bed in his softest sweater( that you bought for him. ) you sat beside him, still too wired to sleep, fingers tracing lazy circles over his shoulder like you were making sure he was real.

"you could've died," you breathed.

"but i didn't," he replied softly.

you leaned forward, kissed his temple, his jaw, the end of his nose. "you're too calm."

he smiled a little. "i mean… i got kidnapped by a guy who thought duct tape was a good plan."

"you're not funny."

"i'm a little funny."

you frowned, but then crumpled & he caught you quickly.

"i didn't know if i'd see you again," you mumbled into his chest.

"you would have," he said, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. "i knew you'd come."

"how?"

he smiled, all crooked & soft & annoying in the way that made your heart ache. skip a beat. beat too fast. burst.

"because no one storms like you do."

you laughed, all wet & oh, so, so shattered. "storms don't get scared."

you kissed him hard for that. & again. & again. kissing him like you'd die if you didn't.

he cradled your face like you were holy. "even hurricanes have eyes, angel."

"&▰" kiss.

yeah, let's save the nerd jokes that will probably give you a heart attack tomorrow.

he let you. smiled into it. sleepy & soft & safe.

eventually, you crawled under the blanket with him, clinging like you'd never release him again. your heart rate slowed to sync with his.

right before you fell asleep, he whispered in your ear:

"i'll never stop choosing you."

"morning," emily said nonchalantly as spencer entered the office, cardigan on, curls a little messy. & clearly a man who'd been spoiled & kissed within an inch of his life.

"hey, lover boy," morgan chimed in, grinning like a psychopath.

spencer blinked. "…are we doing this already?"

jj didn't bother looking up. "cherry girl. that's it. it's official now."

"she does smell like cherries," garcia breathed from the tech room. "like a poisoned fruit basket when she's angry."

"you're just mad you didn't come up with it first," emily teased. "cherry girl. has range. sweetest thing alive▰until someone gets near her man."

"she actually threw a chair," morgan said, "not at anyone. just, like, as a warning. that's one hell of a cherry."

hotch passed by, didn't even glance up at his folder. "remember me to bring her for interviews next time. we'll divide our work into halves." gods, even hotch is participating in the teasing.

rossi looked out of his office. "never heard a suspect beg to go back to jail before."

spencer was brewing coffee & hesitated. "you're all making fun of her."

jj smiled. "we're complimenting her, spence."

he blinked, then relaxed. "oh. good. because… i like her a lot."

"that much was clear when you smiled while zip-tied," emily noted.

"you literally said, 'she'll be here soon without even saying it,'" garcia said in a faraway voice. "'she's intimidating when she's angry, but in a hot way.'"

"i never said hot," spencer grumbled.

"you thought it," morgan laughed. "& honestly? same."

"she stormed in like a final boss," jj said. "yelling like the guy borrowed her favorite book & dog-eared it."

spencer rested on garcia's desk, chin in hand, totally lost. "she didn't even blink. it was like… like i vanished & the world just froze until she found me."

it fell silent for a moment.

garcia let out a small gasp. "oh no. he's adorable."

“she checked my pulse three times,” spencer said quietly. “made sure they didn’t nick me by cutting the zip ties. & then she just… held me. & it all felt okay again.”

morgan raised a brow. “and you’re not proposing?”

spencer turned bright red. “i▰i didn’t say that.”

“ohhh,” garcia squealed. “you have a plan.”

jj grinned. “you’ve got a ring already.”

hotch strolled by once more, still inscrutable. "as long as we don't have to rescue you from a love declaration next."

"i won't require a rescue," spencer muttered.

he got out his phone & typed with a small smile.

Sonic 3 spoilers!!! Talking about the mid credits scene/what people have been saying about it under the cut

feeling like the only one who doesnt want reverse sonamy for the movies </3

or more accurately, fine sonic can have an obvious crush on her but i dont want ‘reverse sonamy’ to mean ‘amy doesnt have a crush on sonic.’ she can be lowkey about it or whatever (like sonic is sometimes in the games/other media) but to me part of Who She Is is that shes this super cool, super strong, intelligent fighter but shes also still a young girl who has crushes and believes in fate and is guided by her compassion, not by her strength or her mission or her love of adventure.

shes such a good character because while she is physically strong and possibly slightly magic, those are equally as important as her love and compassion and care for the world and people around her. preserving amys girlhood is important to me like loving sonic isnt her single defining character trait bc she ‘has to have a crush on a guy’ but it is a main character trait because thats just who she is. a loving person who sees the good in the world and wants to protect it and loves sonic because she sees him as the embodiment of that

Something I wonder about Simon and Betty's relationship is how long they were together before the whole crown ordeal. But they were engaged, you say. My aunt (in)famously met my uncle and had a ring on her finger in 8 weeks. We've seen that both Betty and Simon were both weird outcasts, crazy determined and a pinch insane. I would not be surprised if they decided they'd met their one true love and got engaged super quick.

My point being, Betty's shifting to revolve around Simon and Simon's rose colored glasses of their relationship feels very much like New Love. They're people who love each other and love being a couple but still haven't quite figured out how to coexist together, as two people in a partnership. I feel like if they'd known each other longer, lived together longer, some of the issues we're seeing would have probably self resolved.

I don't think their relationship is toxic nor is it totally perfect. It's two lonely, most likely neurodivergent people in a relatively early relationship still figuring out how it works. Everything that happened afterwards: the crown, the seperation, the time travel, the magic/madness/sadness just exemplified issues they had both as individuals and as a couple.
