Harding will ask him what he's doing here and wasn't he with Solas and he gives a noncommittal answer before offering to help set up the Lighthouse, figuring if Bellara can't crack the Eluvian he can probably do it (he is in fact very impressed when Bellara fixes the Eluvian)

When you greet the caretaker they'll ask you about the Slow Arrow being back and you can later on ask Felassan about that and also about the memories you see him in.

Okay so in terms of plot... there is no plot. It's only a horrible mass of headcanons slapped together haphazardly.

I kind of mushed season 5 and 8 together so that I could have citrus and Morro and Harumi interactions so Harumi's got her Evil Plan but also Morro's dealing with God shenanigans

I could do a whole rant about Morro's whole deal (and I might still) but the main story is the sons of Garmadon just doing emo theater kid stuff. Morro gets the much darker and more severe b plot.

A Summary: The Spirealm | 致命游戏 (Kaleidoscope of Death 死亡万花筒 Live Action) & Why You Should (Eventually) Watch It

Talk about the most short-lived drama release ever, not even totalling two hours if I recall. Creating this summary as I've seen a handful of confused friends, so here it goes!

It's going to be a long review because I sped through all 78 episodes and only properly watched the first two doors, but I got you. You'll get both the brief book rundown and the drama parts!

If you just wanna see the bromance (LOVE) parts please skip to section 4!!!!

1. Overview

Title: The Spirealm (kinda awful I'm sorry it's a mouthful) or 致命游戏 which means fatal game

Adapted From: Danmei (BL) Kaleidoscope of Death by Xi Zixu

Novel Prints: There are GORGEOUS Thai, Vietnamese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese versions printed, AND Singapore publisher Rosmei has signed the license for the ENGLISH version, probably going on sale this year (preview is here). You can still access fan translations by Taida on I think wordpress and someone else on Tumblr sorry bad memory (they did half and half each) if you'd like to read it for context. It is one of my FAVE danmeis EVER and I am a die-hard OG book fan, check out my full danmei review here.

Total Episodes: 78 (20 minutes each with the exception of last episode which 10 minutes, with several BTS not that I think we will get to see all of them yet)

Where to Watch (LOL): Erm considering that iQIYI China AND International took the episodes down, there is no legal way to watch this, BUT thanks to some cnetz with super fast and great wifi, we managed to get ripped HD versions without subs. iQIYI is very hard on copyright though, they've taken down several subbed and unsubbed versions already on YouTube, but you should type the titles of show into Twitter and the top tags will tell you where to access the raws and very little subbed episodes, that may also be taken down at any point. I have the Chinese raws but as it's hosted on a cloud, I had to pay to access it.

Main Characters: Lin Qiushi & Ruan Nanzhu/Ruan Baijie (in the novel) and Ling Jiushi & Ruan Nanzhu/Ruan Baijie (in the drama)

2. Summary

Book (drama follows closely if not removing the supernatural premises): Lin Qiushi, a designer, opens the door to his home one day from inside and sees 12 iron doors outside. Confused, he opens one of them and arrives at a snow covered village in the mid of winter, and meets Ruan Baijie, who's a pretty, unusually tall and whiny/timid woman. They realise that they're in a horrifying door game, and they'll have to find a door and a key to get out, while battling a long-haired, human-eating deity. They, along with a few others, have to survive day after day until they get out, and on the first night, two people have died in gory ways. Ruan Baijie and Lin Qiushi partner each other, and despite seemingly timid and crying all the time, she saves Lin Qiushi a few times mysteriously, and Lin Qiushi finds himself trusting in Ruan Baijie.

They get through the door together and when they leave successfully, Lin Qiushi realizes that the people who died in the door will die in real life by some freak accident too - car accidents, forced suicides, a robbery gone wrong, a lift trapped in the air and going ablaze, and more. That night, Lin Qiushi wakes up to see a super handsome and tall Ruan Nanzhu at his bedside and this man feels familiar to him, but he can't put a finger on it. All he can think of when Ruan Nanzhu says his name is Ruan Baijie (ahem he would later find out who it is of course). Ruan Nanzhu takes him to his mansion in the suburbs where he meets a group of other people just like them, who're forced to go through the doors for survival. Ruan Nanzhu then invites him to join Obsidian, his organization.

Through various doors, Lin Qiushi grows and supports a super intelligent and powerful Ruan Nanzhu, falls in love with him, gets through many many scary doors with him and some of their other team members, makes friends, loses them to the cruelty of the doors as they ponder over what the door means, and what being alive/dying means.

And at the end of it, at the end of of it all, when they're all good and living their life, Lin Qiushi also finds out what Ruan Nanzhu's secret is, and the lengths to which Ruan Nanzhu went to, just to be with him.

Drama: Ling Jiushi is a VR game designer who gets pulled into a game, and he meets Ruan Baijie (in his male form) right off the bat (SO NOT CROSSDRESSING I AM SAD). All the parts are actually the same as the novel, albeit with the game setting and Ling Jiushi and Ruan Nanzhu's identity adjustments to suit the game premise. Most of the other doors and their lines are the same, just that the ending is a bit more confusing than it could be. There's a big bad as well and they actually show the opposing organizations when in the novel, these other organizations aside from Obsidian didn't even actually have a face or goal to them.

Ruan Nanzhu/Ruan Baijie: MY HANDSOME CROSSDRESSING INTELLIGENT ALOOF BUT WHINY (WHEN IT COMES TO LIN QIUSHI) SASSY BOSS!!!! He's super mysterious and super thick-skinned too, and all he wants is Lin Qiushi's attention the moment he meets him. He's intrigued by Lin Qiushi's calm and his brains and the way he handles things, and has a lot of trust for him right from the get-go. This is also shown in the drama itself. As the leader of Obsidian, he cares a lot for his team members and his friends even if he doesn't show it most of the time, and the last thing he wants to do is lose Lin Qiushi, and he would do ANYTHING for Lin Qiushi, ANYTHING!!! Just look at him whining:

Ling Jiushi (Lin Qiushi): In the novel he's super calm, has quite a lot of brains, a little bit of a blur in the beginning but he's super smart as well. Worries a lot for Ruan Nanzhu and is also a loyal friend to some of his only friends, and feels a lot when he loses them. Falls gradually in love with Ruan Nanzhu in the novel, like they just belong together. In this drama, Ling Jiushi holds that same trust for Ruan Nanzhu, but in demeanour he seems a bit more like a klutz and and not as cool as he was in the novel, but I guess it's acceptable. Literally like the only thing he loves more than RNZ (maybe) is his cat Chestnut LOL and RNZ is NOT really happy about that but Chestnut LOVES RNZ

Yixie and Qianli: CUTEST TWINS ;-; WHO TREAT RNZ and LQS as their big brothers LOOK AT THEM BOWING AND RNZ/LJS like parents LMAO

5. Settings

They REALLY OUTDID THEMSELVES. THIS JUST FROM DOORS 1-6:

THEY LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE NOVEL DESCRIBED!!!!

6. Overall Thoughts

PROS: This was NOT a cheap production, I'm telling you, they followed the cases very well and there're a lot of super recognisable lines, if not ALL of them, even if they changed the cases a little. I think they did it because in the novel originally, the author DOES leave a lot of details hanging like someone dies and you know he had a background and there are some shady things happening but the author NEVER actually goes into detail. So the drama did their best to cover these loopholes, even if it felt a little awkward at times. Money went into settings and attires and every damn thing, this looks EXPENSIVE. And if you've ever imagined each door and the bosses inside in your head, you might have felt chills go down your spine because damn did they really colour the book's settings for me (despite its differences). DID I MENTION that Xia Zhiguang really got the damn memo and he was a passable Ruan Nanzhu/Ruan Baijie who knew how to turn on his BL eyes. PLUS they really did some of the character deaths really well - they're technically some of the biggest parts of this story so ;-; (not two main of course)

CONS (maybe): They did away with the supernatural/horror premise and replaced it with a GAME premise, which means that there's a scientific element to it and the try to explain away stuff with the game, including the ending. I don't 100% get the ending, but the feel/vibe is about the same. Might not be for hardcore reader fans tho! They skipped out on a couple of doors, some of which were my faves, but it's fine, it's long enough LOL. They give away/explain some of the clues and surprises super early which means you don't get that added boom at the back as well. Despite that, I have to say they tried to round up the loopholes from the book as much as they could and give it an explanation while tying elements/conspiracies across doors (probably also to save cast fees LOL). And as always it's not a solid ending, it's an open confusing one, and even more confusing than the book itself because THERE IS NO CERTAIN HAPPILY EVER AFTER WITH HUBBY for it (there is in the book tho, they live together happily every after). Secondl,y, I'd say HJJ's acting is a bit stiff and OOC compared to the novel, but Xia Zhiguang really made up for it.

being the youngest of three siblings, rosemary gillian zabini had a lot to prove.

she had to be the best of the best — had to turn heads, command rooms, and rule hogwarts, all while making it look effortless. everyone was depending on her to uphold the zabini name in all its glory (or rather, infamy. romy’s mother wasn’t the friendliest person. quite the opposite, actually). rosemary was supposed to follow in her mother’s footsteps, becoming a powerful witch that would inevitably be a woman with enough money to last her three lifetimes. even her twin brother, blaise zabini, held her up to the same unrealistic standard everyone seemed to possess when acknowledging her.

but what if she didn’t want to be the best?

all she really wanted was a breath a fresh air. a brief reprieve from the suffocating clutches of everyone’s expectations, a glimpse of solace amidst the overwhelming shitshow she had as a life. was she going to find it at hogwarts? hell no. but rosemary could at least find some semblance of individuality there, without her mother breathing down her neck.

little did she know, a certain someone named mattheo riddle would take her precious breath of fresh air away as soon as she stepped onto school grounds. both figuratively and literally. rosie was in for a rude awakening; she wasn’t getting a break until the sky turned upside down and her mother finally got a husband.

she was going to need all the luck, all the help, and all the alcohol she could get to survive.

Ive never gotten a m&g ticket before and I'm discovering that I'm getting nervous about it and want to be kinda mentally prepared. very much appreciated

when it's your turn you walk up and if you want you can hug them but you're obviously not like forced to if you don't want to (i feel like they used to go for a hug quicker but now they seem to hesitate if you don't initiate it), then if you have something specific you wanna say you try your best to get it out while they sign whatever you want to get signed, but if you don't have anything specific you wanna say/you're too nervous they're usually good at taking the lead. from the second he's done signing dan will be doing his best to get a hold of your phone which we clown on him for a lot but he also kind of has to cause otherwise people will just drag it out forever lmao, but again if you have something you want to finish saying just don't give it to him immediately. that being said also don't be one of the people i keep seeing who say they manage to drag their m&g out to like 5-6 minutes? that's a dick move. you can push it a little but you know, within reason. otherwise the people at the back of the line get rushed by security and nobody wants that. once you've said your piece or dan's managed to grab your phone when you weren't paying attention he's gonna take the selfie and that's about it. if you want a specific pose you just have to tell them and they'll usually go along with it! alas i'm far too pussy to ask for anything at all i always just smile awkwardly and hope for the best, but i recommend everyone else ask for fun things cause i like seeing them lol

for my aventurine fics, i have yet to write one that actually deep-dives into his character, not one that mainly focuses on his character at least!! 

but i digress, dwst was written with “aventurine often wears a smile that masks his true motives, but when he's drunk that facade crumbles.” in mind. (though it didn’t come out exactly that way? up to your interpretation honestly!)

^ aventurine's guarded nature is evident in his emotional reticence. as he’s not ready to reveal his vulnerable side just yet, he yearns to provide warmth and security to you even if he struggles to express his feelings verbally.

incandescent feelings overflow was also kinda like “haha he has a nonchalant facade, but in reality he does have smt to hide” (can be interpreted as his romantic interest in you or he simply finds teasing you amusing)

how do you imitate the danganronpa style so well?? it's always so good!!

Great Question!

First, having a somewhat decent grasp on anatomy (which is something I still need to practice lol) or “the basics” of character art is always a must imo. Having a good understanding of forms is our starting grounds for further stylization. Think of it as the “skeleton” of any style. Moreover, the Danganronpa style comes in various forms, all with different characteristics/visual characteristics.

However, and I think this is a very important distinction, I try to study Rui Komatsuzaki’s overall style as opposed to just Danganronpa. In other words, Rui Komatsuzaki, like any other creative, has his own personal stylization and artistic evolution throughout his career as an illustrator.

In DR1, Komatsuzaki’s style included much thinner lineart, bigger heads, and more gradients with the softer shading. The vibe is very much more “grounded” compared to later titles. (Example: Toko!)

In contrast, DR2 has slightly modified proportions (like bigger hands), simplified shading, and much more vibrant color palettes. The line art during this time was also streamlined with less lines and thicker pen pressure. It makes the sprites pop out a bunch! (Example: Mahiru!)

Of course, with UDG, we see these two styles somewhat overlap, resembling his later stylization. Here we see the modified proportions and color preferences from DR2 with the thinner linework and detail of DR1. (See Toko Again!)

Finally, we see this similar style philosophy continued in V3, only with even more contrasting colors, reflecting the hyper bright/attention grabbing palettes of serialized work. The shading is much darker than previous titles, and somewhat colder too. (See Miu this time.)

Of course, with all of this in mind, taking notes is imperative! Especially if you want to replicated a specific entry’s stylization. You can draw over some of the dr sprites just to get a general feel of the proportions. I can probably post more latter down the line, but this was the most recent thing I’ve done. See below! (I was trying to get a sense of how “high” the hair sits on top of dr)

Now, for his splash art work, Komatsuzaki’s began his process by blocking out his pieces in bluish hues before the polishing phase. he most likely applied a mix of “color”, “multiply”, or “color dodge” once we finishes rendering for finalizing colors. (As depicted below.)

You can also see how Komatsuzaki simplifies clothing and the like. He very much uses thicker brush work for these types of illustrations as opposed to the lines of his 2D work during this point in his career. Future points show how he plans his stuff with more thin line work. From here he most likely did the same thing. Focusing on the forms before getting to the hues and values

Sorry for going on a bit of a tangent, I have A LOT of thoughts on DR and Komatsuzaki’s artwork in general. I really love seeing his process, so I hope this brief overview can provide as a decent introduction! X-Men: The End - Review

Book 1: Dreamers and Demons

In one of Chris Claremont's many ill-advised returns to the X-books, he set about writing a hypothetical and non-canon end to the series. Set about 15 years in the future, the story travels to every corner of the X universe - if briefly - so if nothing else everyone gets an answer for where their favourite character ends.

Greg Land did the cover. I hate Greg Land.

I praise it mostly on a conceptual level. Pretty much every long running corner of the MU received a 'The End' mini, but Claremont split it up into 3 separate miniseries. Captain America and Iron Man both got 5 issues, KISS (yes, the band) got 3, the X-Men got 18. As someone who always wanted characters to die, grow and retire but was often foiled or undone by fiat - I respect that he'd want to do it properly. However, more is not always better. It's fun, cringe, and nonsensical at times. A LOT of people die unceremoniously. Don't take it too seriously.

The first few pages sets up that that 15 years have seriously passed. People are dead and retired, some have kids that look exactly like them, the never aging kids grew up. The Shi'Ar are killing X-Men, like a lot of them, except they're doing it in disguise. Jean Grey has returned as the Phoenix and is hanging out with (kidnapped him while he was doing Letterman lol) Nightcrawler, Carol Danvers' hologram, and Aliyah - the child of Bishop and Deathbird.

Here she is going for an expository jog down memory lane.

We spend a little time getting to know her, as she's the closest thing to a viewpoint character. She's inexperienced and way out of her depth, but her heroic instincts are sharp. Interestingly she 'doesn't really care about the Shi'Ar.' Aliyah lives on the Starjammer with a pretty impressive holodeck, she's never met her dad, her mum is holding the Shi'Ar empire together and her best mate is holo Danvers. Lilandra is apparently 'mad.'

Immediately Kree slavers approach Chandilar and Claremont begins clearing the board. Madrox and Siryn die for real, Nocturne is a hound and Aliyah manages to knock her out and take her to the ship. Phoenix comes out of nowhere and begins wrecking shit and the Kree do the same.

Also, WarSkrulls.

If it sounds like confusing nonsense, that's because it is. The first third of the miniseries is about establishing Aliyah and checking in on various X-Men before killing most of them. Seriously, it's easier for me to list who lives rather than who dies. It's confusing but I think it works as front loading the deaths so books 2 and 3 have a more manageable cast of characters. If you plan to stick the landing, it's going to be easier to trim the decades of bloat/worldbuilding the X-books have received.

We get a brief overview of Earth stuff before they start to die, though everyone in these panels lives (mostly hehe). Kitty Pryde is running for president with Rachel as her campaign manager! Storm and Logan live together and he's her full time caretaker. Emma and Scott have two kids. Cable hunts terrorists apparently.

Here's the Summerses. A lot of people wear speed dealer sunnies in the future, with Cyclops even saying SPEED right there. Coincidence? Also their children are boring.

You'll note the daughter may as well be a clone of Emma (she isn't but you know what I mean.) The baby is called Alex after long dead Havok, definitely tempting fate there. I'd sooner call my child Omega Red, but I'm not a parent. Chuck pokes his big bald head in and Emma tells him to beat it. Scott checks in with folks all over the globe, many of whom die. He is concerned of course.

Told you. Rogue and Gambit live and they definitely saw The Matrix. This isn't plot relevant - this is just how they roll apparently.

Hank and Cecilia McCoy live and they do *something* in Africa. Doctor stuff I think? This book moves so damn quickly. They live but everyone around them dies. Hank is right about the mutant problem. The named X-Men body count is at 18 by book 3.

Hey Yukio! Come to homoerotically kill Ororo, huh? DW, she wins despite full paralysis. Don't fuck with Storm. At this point we find out ALL these assassins are WarSkrulls sent by the Shi'Ar. Storm's powers have wrecked her body btw to the point Logan feeds her and she kinda wants to die. 😭

Madeline Pryor, Stryfe, and some weirdo I don't know come for the X-Mansion. Dust dusts Maddie Pryor. That dude getting punched by Not!Stryfe is the son of Colossus and Polaris. Yeah he looks exactly like Colossus. Nice to get confirmation of Polaris' awful taste in men. She does have a dope butch short hair look that slaps, so it's not all bad choices and emotionally stunted communists.

Nearly everyone else not pictured is dead as a doornail, ash and bone at best. Claremont was pretty damn thorough - 90% of the X-Men and their allies dead. Apocalypse bit the dust too, in a pretty embarrassing way. Of course Sinister lives because he's working with the Shi'Ar but has his own agenda, as usual. They're starting to realise that the Shi'Ar sent the WarSkrulls, but the preemptive strikes were super effective. Book 1 ends on the Starjammer with the passengers realising Cassandra Nova has been Lilandra all this time.

I'm sorry, CHUCKY sends me. No cap. I could write an essay on this panel and invite speculation.

The last page has the Xavier Institute's singularity power core exploding after that lot end up also being WarSkrulls sent by the Shi'Ar - looks like having the school be built mostly from Shi'Ar tech backfired. The school is definitely gone - along with at least the state of New York but I suspect much more - then a smash cut to this masterpiece. Callisto with fucking tentacles for arms saying 'Chucky?' as Chuck is overwhelmed by grief. I'm assuming they're in a polycule with Mags over here, but it must gall him to be the third most dramatic person in a scene. It's just too much to respond without some kind of levity, but if it wasn't clear by now - the stage is being cleared ruthlessly. Northstar was at the school, so maybe some people survived but Claremont is not half arsing it. This is definitely a whole arse situation, maybe even more.

DUN DUN DUN 🫠

Wait what? Chuck's evil twin, the Mummudrai? Hectic! So we know we've just seen Cassandra Nova send many WarSkrull strike teams after X-Men in the form of people that will hurt them psychologically and it was very successful. Hmm... it's 15 years in the future - does that mean she's been leading Bird Gang this whole time? No Xandra in this timeline but the X-Men interact with the Shi'Ar a lot. That's some wild patience for Cassandra Nova, and the notion that she's been preparing all this time is terrifying. My God, all the X-Men are going to die aren't they? Maybe, though I can't stop thinking about how Lilandra Nova would have handled a booty call from Chucky. Ughh gross.

I think it's worth saying that the high amount of action is a YMMV sitch - I personally can do without no punching at all in a book, and get frustrated when a mandated and arbitrary fight happens just because that's what cape comics do. Just because action has to be special to wow me doesn't mean I don't recognise its value, mainly I believe we can demand more from our comics - as an evolved art form instead of the pulp it began as. What I said earlier about front loading the death applies to the action too. I suspect your enjoyment of this book will come down to your feelings on action or ability to appreciate it ironically/unseriously.

I'll leave part one there, though I want to point out that Sunspot is whitewashed so badly he looks like Shawn Mullins. At least he dies - I love Bobby Da Costa but I'd prefer no Sunspot to dorky white guy Sunspot. Stay tuned for part 2 and thank fuck that's over. Spinning a coherent narrative from a book without one is a challenge, especially with only 10 pictures to work with. I considered counting and listing all the deaths, but I got to 30 and realised I wasn't enjoying it and doubted anyone else would. I'm not a wiki, and hopefully I've done my job while leaving some meat on the bones for folks who still want to read it. Don't worry, Kitty's presidential run is still live and it's implied she won the primaries. Independent? As if. Definitely a democrat, because the X-Men are mostly centrist bitches. Still, I hope she wins and First Lady Rachel and her achieve something.

Bare feet padded across the matted floor. You sighed through your nose as you tied your hair up and fixed your uniform. Today was mixed martial arts. Usually, taekwondo was a separate sport, though, today, when the teachers wanted to see how their students were doing and how they interacted, all types were combined. However, a new type was joining today. Boxing. Today, the students enrolled in the military were joining. Was boxing even a martial arts? You wondered. You didn’t even know. All you knew, was that you were nervous. Maybe you wouldn’t have been if you had a team. You weren’t the only student in the martial arts area, but for some reason, no one else showed up (you silently cursed Cody under your breath). It wasn’t popular. You checked yourself in the mirror, smoothing down your white uniform, before tightening your belt. Black. You were well taught in the area, having done it for your whole life, but it didn’t make you any less nervous to go up against boxers, or literal military men. Suddenly, a hand clapped on her shoulder, making your form jump, before whipping over to who it was. Wolffe stood behind her, military uniform on as he rose a brow at you. Your teacher in taekwondo. He taught every martial arts or boxing and military team. You happened to be in one of his clubs.

“Jumpy today, aren’t we?” He asked sarcastically, making you let out a nervous sigh. “Yeah- I mean, it’s just because, well, I’ll have to go up against some of your cadets, Master Wol-“ he placed both hands on your shoulders, patting them awkwardly. He grimaced, before clearing his throat. “Don’t call me that right now, name. I’m not your master today, remember?” He asked. Yeah. He definitely could not allow you to call him by that title, especially not in front of his men. Maker knows how they’d take it. The thought made him shiver. You blushed in embarrassment, but nodded. “Good. Just refer to me as commander, got it?” You beamed up at him. “Yes, mast- commander.” You corrected yourself. He gave you a rare smile, and hummed, before placing a hand on your back and guiding you to where the others were.

“You don’t have anything to fear, name. My squad is quite harmless. In fact, stupid almost,” he said, chuckling, making you snort. “Oh, I doubt that-“ he opened the doors for you, and you stepped in, before gasping. They towered over you. Your mouth dropped, staring at them. You saw one soldier with red hair in the shape of an equal sign jumping at another with silver hair, shouting and laughing, then another, with shaggy, long brown hair and a red bandanna who was shorter than most of them, but was definitely stronger, another with a mustache doing curl-ups, and a really tall, really, really, big GIANT of a man in the gym area. You were regretting this. Only girl, only martial artist, smaller and most definitely weaker compared to them, you’d be murdered here. You silently freaked out, eyes darting around everywhere, heartbeat picking up. No, no, no, no, HELL no. Wolffe seemed to pick up on your distress, and found it humorous.

“Oh, c’mon, pup, they’re harmless, see?” He asked, gesturing to them. You looked at him incredulously. “One of them is being choked out by the other right now.” You stated, making his eyes widen a little, before turning to see them. He grunted under his breath, before yelling. “Boost! Sinker! Get off each other right now before I make you! We have a guest!” He shouted, making them separate and cower like guilty puppies. “Yes, commander!” They both said at the same time. The one with the bandanna rose a brow. “A guest?” He parroted. Wolffe made a noise of acknowledgement, nodding, before walking up to them, you taking doe-like steps behind him, his form covering yours.

“Yes, we do. It’s another one of my students, as you know, I teach other kinds of martial arts too,” he started, the others lining up to listen to him, looking around curiously. “Where?” Boost cut off, making Wolffe send him a ‘cut me off again, I dare you,��� look, shutting him up, before Wolffe clicked his tongue, reaching behind him and grabbing your wrist and dragging you out. Your knees buckled as all eyes landed on you, making you shrink under their gaze. Their eyes widened slightly, the biggest one of them gasping loudly. The bandanna one tilted his head at you. “This,” Wolffe patted her shoulder, making her blush more. “Is name. My student. She’s a black belt in taekwondo, and today, as all you guys know, she’ll be observing us and how we do things, and will also be training with us.” Boost choked on his spit at the information that you were a black belt. Wolffe cleared his throat, pushing you close to the others, making you go tense as you went even redder.

“Okay, say hi, name.” You cleared your throat, raising a hand and waving shyly. “Hi.” You mumbled, and then Wolffe took her back. “As you pups know, she’s a girl. And also, is notably smaller than you guys,” he stated, making you sigh in embarrassment. No shit, Sherlock.

“So you pups will have to be gentle. Don’t go too soft now, she can handle a lot, but don’t go around breaking bones.” He glared at the biggest one when he said that, who averted his eyes. Wolffe finally sighed out, before nodding at them. “Alright. You big pups can finally say hi and chat with our little puppy. You have 20.” He said, and immediately, Boost and Sinker ran up to you, shooting question after question. “You’re a black belt?! How long have you been doing this-?!” Sinker asked. “Uhm- since, like, fifth grade?” “What grade are you?” Boost asked.

“Uhm- freshman-“ you responded, making him chuckle. “Ah, a freshie. Cool beans!” He said, grinning at you, before you were turned to the man with a mustache. “I’m Boil,” he introduced. “It’s nice to meet you.” He said. “And if those two idiots are ever too much for you, just lemme know, okay? Don’t be afraid to just slap them in the back of their heads.” He said, making you laugh a little.

“I- oh, well, I don’t think I ever will, but okay! Nice to meet you too!” You said, before she was turned to the last two people. Bandanna and giant. “Hunter,” he introduced, extending a hand, you shaking it. “Nice to meet you,” you said, giving a small smile, which he returned. “Feeling’s mutual,” he said, before gesturing up to the larger man. “And this here, is Wrecker. He isn’t fighting, but he’s watching. He’s on the football team.” He introduced, Wrecker bending down on his knees to be face to face with you. “Hey there, doe-eyes!” He shouted, making you back up a little, taking him all in. But you matched his energy. Kinda. You smiled at him. “Hi!” You replied, making him laugh loudly and stand up, really seeing the height difference between them. You barely reached his chest. He squealed, arms reaching out for you before retreating, as if he was having some inner conflict, and then settling on picking you up. “Woahoho!!! Yer short!” He shouted. “Who knew a l’il lady like ya could be a black belt!” He said, before setting you down with Wolffe whistled.

“Okay, pups. Fun time’s over, let’s get to work.” You immediately padded up to him, the others following. “For the first thing, I need Name to lift all of you up, to see who and what her limits are. I know all of you can lift her up, but I need to see who her best match up would be.” Wolffe stated, making Sinker raise a questioning brow. “Can she even do that, sir?” Wolffe let out a chuckle, nodding. “You’ll see.” He stated.

“Line up, pups, lightest to heaviest.” Wrecker went and sat on the bleachers, watching them as he fished out some bagged cereal from his pocket. The line went Sinker, Boost, Boil and Hunter. For the first one, you seemed confident in this, smiling before approaching Sinker. “Okay, I don’t want you hurting yourself, so when you-“ you immediately squatted down, up to his upper thighs, before wrapping your arms around them, arms under his butt and wrapped securely around his thighs, resting your chin just below where his belly button was, and staring up at him with big eyes, making him avert his eyes and clear his throat while pink cheeks. Wow- ain’t that a sight—

“‘Kay, ready? One, two, three—“

“Wait- don’t-“

He was cut off and gasped and yelped in surprise as he was suddenly lifted up, hands moving to grasp your shoulders. You stumbled as he thrashed, but held him up, stammering. “Hey, hey, calm down! I got you, it’s okay!” You comforted, and slowly he calmed down, going still as you held him comfortably. Boost watched with a dropped mouth, Wrecker cheering on the sidelines as Wolffe chuckled. Boil made a noise of awe, as Hunter let out a small laugh. Then, gently, you leaned down and sat him down, making Sinker look at you with wide eyes. You just gave him a cheeky grin. “You’re surprisingly light,” you commented, shrugging, making him yelp. “I-I! I’ve never- that was my first time being lifted!” He shouted, making you laugh. Boost went similarly, except he was cheering and whooping as you lifted him up, and Boil was quiet and just stared down at you with a calm and proud smile, and finally, it was Hunter. Again, you squatted down, taking your place.

“Don’t drop me, yeah?” He jabbed playfully, making you laugh. “Course not,” you replied, before lifting him with a grunt. You swayed, stumbled a bit, struggling with him as he had more weight, straining, making him coo at you comfortingly, and then, you stilled. Your legs trembled slightly, but you held him up. Hunter sent you a boyish smile. “Good job, sweetheart. M’proud of ya.” Yeah, okay, he was done, your knees almost buckled from that. You placed him down, cheeks red from a small blush and nodded.

“Thank you,” you spoke quietly. Wolffe hummed, catching your attention. “Thanks, pup, I think we found your match.” He said, placing a hand on both you and Hunter’s shoulders. Then, he turned to Boil. “Boil, you’re with me. Boost and Sinker, you team up with one another,” he ordered, and a string of ‘yes commander!’s coming out their mouths. You wiped the sweat off your face, before turning to Hunter, who was already in stance.

“Okay. I hope ya know I’m not goin’ easy on ya, mesh’la.” He teased again, and although you had no idea what that foreign word meant at the end, you laughed. “That’s okay. I won’t either.” You said. You got in stance, and you both circled one another, before Hunter swung, making you duck. Sweeping his leg, you made him fall with a little laugh, him looking up at you in awe as you got up. Wrecker cackled, but then, Hunter grabbed your ankle, pulling you to the floor with him and climbing on top of you, but you thrashed around, until he got you in a locking position, making you go still as you panted. Hunter panted above you, grinning. “That was a smart move.” He complimented, but as he let his guard down, you thrusted her hips up, making him bounce on you a bit, before twisting them, making him fall off you almost, which you took advantage of and swapped with him, pinning him down. Wrecker gasped, looking at you in shock. Hunter looked at you in shock as well, eyes wide, before he did the same, but you stayed on. For you, it was like riding a mechanical bull, and you held on for dear life, before he held your hands down, and kicked his legs up and wrapped them around your head, making her yelp as he flipped them again. Fighting with him continued a lot like this, until finally, you ended up on your forearms and knees, Hunter above you and holding you in a headlock as the both regained their breath. Wolffe clapped his hands, signaling it was over, and you both got up, you on shaky legs and Hunter with exhausted ones. He stared you up and down, thinking of something, before smirking at you.

“You’re a tough little thing. Fight well. Let’s do this again, sometimes. I’d love a new training partner,” he said, extending a hand, and you let out a tired laugh and nodding, shaking his hand. “I would too.” “This Sunday at three? Stop by a cafe after?” He offered. You nodded, grinning at him. “Sure. I’ll give you my number after this.” After all, you needed a training partner anyways.

Brief Housekeeping

I get many messages asking me how my scores are this high. I have played the game since the day it was released, and I do spend money on the gatchas. If you are a beginner, don't be disheartened and keep increasing your heroine level by rehearsing.

Just a quick reminder, my heroine level is almost 300 (THIS IS not Sparta, lol.) Also, keep in mind that skill activation/gauge fill time will vary depending on your heroine level.

If you are at a lower heroine level, remember to use skills with a longer time (ex, 15 seconds instead of 8 seconds) because stacking can be difficult if your gauge doesn't fill fast enough.

The support card I used is 40% K gauge.

Event Points vs. High Score

People like seeing high scores, but remember, your goal is to get high event points (EP). The only way for you to do that is to use event cards. So modify your team to use as many event cards as possible, but keep in mind that using too many event cards will cause a low score, which will give you less EP. Yes, I just said to do something and then not do it. 😂

What do I mean?

The team below has 4 event cards, but the score is not that high (comparatively), but the EP is decent.

Now, if I replace Gui's event card with Ginsei's 5* card, I get more EP and a higher score.

Why? Gui's skill is gauge fill, but Ginsei's skill is much more powerful. Gui's skill is useless for me because I can stack all the skills without needing a gauge fill card.

Now, if I replace Kokuyou's event card with Gui's 5* star, the score is higher, but the EP goes down A LOT.

This is the reason why you want to use EP cards when you can, even if it doesn't give you the highest score.

How do you figure out the perfect balance?

Unfortunately, you will have to experiment with that because the balance will depend on your heroine level and team.

Gauge Fill

Regardless of which heroine level you are on, you will notice that the gauge will fill faster in song event songs and slower on others. No, it's not your team...Donuts has purposely slowed the gauge fill.

Fastest event song to slowest gauge fill: K > C > B > W=P

Yes, W and P's gauge fills are painfully slow, even with 40% gauge up support. 😭

Like...seriously...the score and EP difference between fast filling gauge vs. slow gauge. Team W...WHY!? 😭😭😭 I used the same team for both songs.

Choosing Team for Anniversary Songs

K : Bomb skill works best, short skills should stack (depends on heroine level)

P : Slow gauge so use gauge fill card, gauge support, and avoid using short skills

C: Bomb skill works well, short skills don't stack as well (compared to Team K) so try using gauge fill card

W: odd setup for bomb so avoid, slow gauge so use gauge fill card, avoid short skills

B: Bomb skill works well

Tips to Increase Score

For bomb team comp, you want to use a combination of combo up, lane score up, p-lock, center color steal, and bomb skill (of course, lol).

For long note team comp, you want to use a combination of lane score up, center color steal, long note score up, and p-lock.

Get rehearsal levels to 100.

Pay attention to skills and team member placement. For example, Ginsei's 5* card is only for Team K members.

Paired with Kokuyou's bomb skill for the center and outer lanes, it makes more sense for me to place Team K members in the center and outer lanes. If I move the team around, you can see how that changes my scores.

You may say that the difference isn't that big, but let's do the math. The difference between my highest EP and above is 236,808. This means for every 10 plays (2x), I will lose 2.37 million. So, pay attention to team member placement.

Higher heroine level = faster gauge fill (every 5 levels, I believe) & higher score

Use 40% team gauge support. A little warning about this, the support card might not work with lower heroine levels. Experiment with the Da/Ac/Vo and 40% support cards. Generally, if you use 40% support, you want 3 or more team members from that team; meaning, if you use 40% W support, you want 3 or more W members. Some compositions work with just 2 members, but the more, the faster the gauge fills.

If you have bloomed event Menou, use him instead of Qu's off day card. If you have bloomed event Aogiri, use him instead of Takami's off day card.

Low heroine level - use longer skill cards, especially if the short skills don't stack.

Higher heroine level - experiment with powerful skills, even if they are short (ex, use Menou's event card instead of Aogiri's.)

to give a brief overview, you were at a club with at least a bajillion people because your boyfriend told you that it would be a "fun new experience." he gave you a kiss on the forehead upon seeing that you were nervous and the two of you walked in together.

now, you were sitting at the bar by yourself watching as another girl flirted with your boyfriend.

you were filled in on the backstory earlier. she went to inarizaki and she and suna dated for their first year and a small part of their second year of high school. she then had to move to the united states (specifically los angeles) and they ended up breaking up.

you had transferred to inarizaki in the middle of your second year, and you and suna started dating 3/4 through your third year, so you had never met her before. your classmates had never mentioned her before either. and when suna introduced you to the girl as his girlfriend, she shot you the nastiest glare before smiling sweetly at your boyfriend.

anyways, one thing led to another, and they got so caught up in chatting that they hadn't noticed how bored you were, nor had they noticed when you silently walked away.

after taking another sip of your drink, you let your eyes wander to the two of them.

Can you explain petekey to me in detail like i’m someone who barely knows the band members (because i actually don’t know)

ofc!! i'll give a brief overview here, but for the full story i definitely recommend checking out this master-post on tumblr, or this version on ao3.

Petekey comprises of Pete Wentz (bassist and lyricist of Fall Out Boy) and Mikey Way (bassist of My Chemical Romance). The two first met in 2003 and both of their bands played some dates on Warped Tour 2004, however things really kicked off in the summer of 2005 when Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance were the head-lining bands on Warped Tour. The members of both bands were often spotted throughout the summer watching each others sets, hanging out together, or playing on stage with one another, and people who were fans of both bands at the time loved the friendship between My Chem and FOB.

Around this time, Pete Wentz was very active on LiveJournal answering questions, teasing lyrics, and talking about the tour. A lot of the questions were often about My Chem, his friendship with Mikey, and various things about the summer, and Pete also posted a lot of prose/poetry/thoughts musing over and reflecting on a summer love. This was furthered in the release of Fall Out Boy's album 'Infinity On High' in 2007, which contained many lyrics taken directly from Pete's posts on LiveJournal (specifically the song 'Bang The Doldrums', which was previously called 'Summer of Like'. Summer of Like is now a term which is used as another way to refer to the summer of 2005). Pete and Mikey have remained friends over the years and often interacted on twitter, and Mikey even played bass on stage with Fall Out Boy last year.

Obviously, all of these events happened almost two decades ago, (and both individuals are married lmao) so nowadays most people just "ship" the two in a very light-hearted way that is really just an appreciation of their friendship. There has been a bit of a spike of people talking about the ship in the last couple years as a result of MCR playing the WWWY festival in 2022, Mikey playing on stage with Fall Out Boy in 2023, and FOB playing 'Bang The Doldrums' live on stage for the first time EVER last year. Anyways, both My Chem and FOB are head-lining WWWY festival next month and personally I am hyped for that lol.
