adam wakes up, probes his side. rib gone, wound sticky. god's fingers have touched a place that will never be touched again. how does adam not curl up, swell and fall, beg god to touch him again. to touch him everywhere else. not just ribs but cheek, inner thigh, lap. the worst part of the side-wound is not that god penetrated you but that he won't do it again

After Regulus dies, James always wears a sliver ring with a star on it on his middle finger. People are always asking him why he wears all gold jewellery except for that one ring. He just shrugs

nativity scenes fold god gently into a crib with hay. but ancient near eastern birth did not take fiber as materiality: it took mud, clay, bricks. israelite women would give birth propped up on a mud-brick, a specially-made thing, almost a sculpture, both shaped by and held against the body of another woman during birth. but mary of nazareth had no midwife, no matrixial ties. it was her, alone, preparing the mud-brick. her finding a place to prop it up. her finding a way to be comfortable on it. her wearing its mud as proof that she bore god and survived. we have spoken of jesus smelling wood and missing joseph: but what of mary, barely thirteen, making and shaping her mud-brick in the exact way her mother had taught her. wishing she didn't have to hold it up against herself

I’m giving one of my dolls top surgery and my mum comes in asking what the hell I’m doing to my barbie and I said I’m making him a ken and she says why I don’t just buy a ken doll? I said it more fun to make one and that got me thinking, is this why whatever god up there made me trans. Is the process of creation more fun and rewarding then just getting it?

a superbat angst angle I’ve never thought about before — Bruce and Clark established as a couple, but they slowly stop getting invited to serious events (weddings, private parties) due to speciesism. people are afraid to have an alien around them, someone who’s not totally human. maybe it’s Ollie’s wedding — he and Dinah are fine with them there, but people outside the JL in the know are less than jazzed by Clark’s appearance. Bruce gets a pass because he’s human, at the end of the day, but Clark doesn’t, even though he’s more human than most. Ra’s expresses his disappointment that Bruce would date an alien, much less befriend a whole team of them.
