K I shall talk abt my sillies :3

My sillies (formally known as the Hazardous Warfare Division) are a squadron of 9 decepticons, most of whom were experimented on in some capacity, and found family in each other, as they felt unwanted by those around them.

Hazard - he/him - modified tank alt

Hazard is the de facto leader of the HWD. He’s the largest and physically strongest of the group, and is arguably the most responsible out of all of them (aside from Crux). The experiments he underwent made him nigh-indestructible and incredibly acid resistant. His blasters were modified to essentially shoot acid. He’s also the one Autobots tend to fear the most, as, on the battlefield, he comes across as cold, merciless, and brutal. In actuality, he puts on a ‘mask’ during battles so the Autobots don’t see just how afraid he is of losing his siblings. Outside of battle, he’s a fun-loving gentle giant who cares very very much for his siblings and friends.

Crux - she/her - drone alt

Crux is a mini bot and the team medic. Obviously, she’s the shortest of the group, but she’s also the oldest and the most responsible aside from Hazard. She used to be an Autobot, but left for reasons she has yet to specify. Because of this, she’s the only one in the group who wasn’t experimented on. She comes across as strict more often than not, but it comes from a place of love. She’s kind, compassionate, and is constantly checking up on her team to make sure they’re taking care of themselves.

Havoc - he/she - jet alt

Havoc is the spy and communications officer of the team. She’s actually Hazard’s older sibling, having raised him when the two of them were quite young, after the sudden deaths of their carrier and sire. The experiments Havoc underwent effectively turned him into a glass cannon. He wields a powerful sniper rifle, capable of easily punching through the armor of most bots. However, Havoc’s frame was heavily modified for speed and stealth, rendering their plating quite…thin. Most hits that would only injure most bots could be devastating for Havoc. She’s terrified of being seen as weak, and hides it behind a cheeky, sarcastic, and quick-witted attitude. She comes across as carefree, but truly she cares very very much.

Freezefire - he/she/they - submarine alt

Freezefire is the one who typically handles all the heavy lifting. Freezefire was actually not experimented on by the decepticons, but by their carrier, Dreadclaw. Their sparkling-hood with Dreadclaw is one that they do not speak of often, but it’s pretty clear to their siblings that Dreadclaw was responsible for their current abilities. The experiments that Freezefire underwent effectively granted them cryo-kinesis. Their frame is almost always unnaturally cold, with the tips of their digits constantly coated in a layer of frost. They wield a specialized blaster that’s attached to their frame which shoots blasts of ice that’ll freeze a bot in solid ice when hit. Freezefire is very quiet and reserved. They have problems trusting others, and it makes them come across as cold and aloof. It took a long time of knowing Hazard and Havoc in order for them to become comfortable with joining the HWD.

Paradox - she/they - small gryphon alt

Paradox is the group’s scientist and engineer. She’s in charge of dealing with things when they break or are in need of an upgrade. Paradox’s experimentation came in the form of her alt mode. Initially, she was a small hazmat truck, but after getting severely injured on a mission, she was reformatted to be a predacon. Hating how she was treated because of her new animalistic alt mode, she went off on her own for a while before meeting Crux and deciding to join the HWD. Initially, they come across as shy, anxious, and fidgety. But that’s only with bots they don’t know. When around bots that they know and are comfortable with, they’re much more open and talkative. If they like you and you get them talking, they can and will ramble to you about their special interest.

Tempest - he/him - heavy artillery cannon alt

Typhoon - he/they - hover car alt

Tempest and Typhoon are a package deal. If you get one you have to get the other. The twins refuse to leave each other alone. Tempest went under experiments to grant him the ability of producing sonic booms. Tempest’s artillery fire is designed so that, instead of exploding upon impact, release a sonic boom that deafens anyone not protecting their audials. The experiments Typhoon underwent implanted a power core in his chassis, granting him the ability of building up power and using it to electrify those he touches. He likes to randomly shock the others to fuck with them. Tempest does not take any shit. He’s got a very serious and no-nonsense attitude, and doesn’t like it all that much when Typhoon does things just to fuck with the others. He’s disciplined, loyal, and determined to do what he can to keep his family safe. Typhoon, on the other hand, is very un-serious. He’s very cheerful and happy-go-lucky, and always tries to make the best out of bad situations. He messes with the others purposefully to try and distract them whenever they’re upset.

Savage - it/its - amphibious aircraft alt

Savage is certainly a guy. It’s the older sibling of the group’s youngest member, Feral, and can be a bit much to be around. The experiments it underwent was a failed attempt at making them into a sort of super soldier, capable of surviving in any environment. The project didn’t get very far before it was shut down. The small part of the project that it did get to go through granted it enhanced senses, along with sharp claws and teeth. Though it also resulted in a bit of a change in behavior, as it made it more easily overstimulated, and prone to biting when agitated or stressed. Outside of that, Savage is fierce, snarky, and competitive. It takes no nonsense during missions, but despite that it relishes in the thrill that combat brings. It isn’t afraid to get its servos dirty, especially when it means pranking their siblings.

and finally…

Feral - they/them - helicopter

Ah yes, the youngest member of the HWD. Feral is the younger sibling of Savage, and looks up to their family members a lot, especially Crux. The experiments that Feral underwent were to make their plating resistant to fire and extreme temperatures, as well as giving them blasters that spit fire and a stomach full of lava. Feral is headstrong, firey, and reckless, often throwing themself into danger with little regard for their safety. They’re also playful and mischievous, responsible for starting a prank war between themself, Savage, and Havoc. However, this leads to them not getting along very well with Decepticons outside of the HWD, often being responsible for starting fights.

The sillies, in order from oldest to youngest are: Crux, Havoc, Freezefire, Hazard, Tempest, Typhoon, Savage, Paradox, and Feral.

Megatron thinks of them as loyal and highly capable warriors, but the rest of Decepticon High Command? Not so much. The HWD only answer to Megatron (and Soundwave) and it pisses off Starscream and worries the others bc the HWD could be a threat to Decepticon High Command with so few people keeping them in check.

But first let me answer 7 and 8 for each of these blorbos

Aerith

7. Does the character’s age matter to you?

A little bit. Only because she’s around my own age and I really love characters in their 20s these days instead of teen characters, if we’re talking about younger demographics only. Yeah, it’s probably because I’m in my dreaded 20s and I am relating to my peers in media, but for Aerith specifically, I like how she’s a perfect cross between strong maturity and a goofy, childlike spirit. She matches her age well.

It also matters because her death is twice as tragic when we know she had her whole life ahead of her and was only just starting to figure it out :(

8. Does the character’s looks/design matter to you?

I have to admit, yes. Very much. I love Aerith’s design so much. Her hair (her bangs!!!) and eyes just scream EARTH and a daughter of earth. The vivid green and soft brown. She’s like a wood nymph.

And then her clothes, with the pink and red + flower necklace…I dunno, she has both a classic girly look but mixed with some cool style. Flowery with an edge, just like her. To me that all matches with her character, so it does matter to me!

Cloud

7. Does the character’s age matter to you?

I think Cloud’s age is important because 21 was widely considered the age of maturity/adulthood in parts of the world, and Cloud’s entire story in FF7 is finding himself, his real identity, and coming into that state of maturity and individuality after a period of uncertainty and fracture. I think there’s a symbolic significance to that, so his age does matter in that sense.

He’s also just a relatable af twenty-something-year-old.

8. Does the character’s looks/design matter to you?

Hmm. With Cloud, I definitely like his classic spiked hair lol. And his design is iconic, of course. He’s our amgery chocobo swordsman.

Other than his basic looks, I love the buster sword on him because it gives him the Guts/Berserk vibe. I’m not a huge fan of the classic blue SOLDIER uniform though, but if anyone can pull it off, Cloudy can. I admittedly don’t have super strong opinions on his looks otherwise, but that’s not a bad thing for me! He’s just…HIM.

7. Does the character’s age matter to you?

Fuck yes. Because I want to know it for real. Or not, because that keeps the significance of NOT knowing it alive and well, as the gods intended.

I can’t decide. It really matters to me though. It plagues my mind. The fourth-wall break in all the guidebooks where they’re like, “Oh uwu, we don’t know any of his personal details, not even his age or birthplace teehee 👉👈” is infuriating and yet effective. It makes Shinra feel real.

Of course Shinra couldn’t reveal his age. They sent him to war at *checks timeline notes* what was probably 13-14, and then conveniently permitted that to be the general recruitment age.

Hell, that ain’t legal. Oh wait. It IS if you don’t let the public know. I hate it and love it.

He’s probably 14 in First Soldier, 25 at Nibelheim and 30 in the main story, but not knowing for sure because of deliberate obscurity in the narrative just…haunts the soul….

8. Does the character’s looks/design matter to you?

Yeah. Every detail. His stupid gothy, stylish uniform makes me think too hard about its significance when there probably isn’t much outside of Nomura being Nomura. Seph’s hair is extremely important to be for so many reasons. His eyes are their own story. Every detail on his face, every flaw and blemish I can find in his rendering…I love. His build, his posture, and mannerisms. His voice. His sound, his presence.

His ridiculous 80 mile long sword, his wing and the feathers…the BLACK FEATHERS. His ascended, reborn form, his biblically accurate angel form, his MOST BELOVED SMOL FORM!

For the ask game, SINF :))))

Blorbo: Josh Newman

For those who don’t know, “SINF” is short for the series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, and Josh is one of the protagonists. A lot of the story and suspension of disbelief depends heavily on his point of view, and some of the BEST foreshadowing in the series surrounds his character and the eventual plot twist with him. Kicking my feet and giggling…

(I can’t put actual pictures of the characters here, unfortunately, so I’ll just find quotes from the books of them that I really like ^^)

“I was just wishing we could go back in time, to before all this happened.” “Why?” “So I wouldn’t have to be like this… so we wouldn’t have to be different.” Josh looked into his sister’s face and tilted his head slightly. “You’d give it up?” he asked very softly. “The power, the knowledge?” “In a heartbeat,” she said immediately. (Book 2, The Magician)

Skrunkly: Billy the Kid

This might be an odd choice of characters that I find cute, but I think there’s just something charming about this adaptation of the outlaw! Especially his later dynamic with Machiavelli- they’re a fun duo, and the contrast between their characters is really great.

But instead of pulling away, Billy took a step toward the Elder, slashing out with the Macuahuitl. The razor-sharp glass whistled as it cut through the air. Kukulkan immediately sucked his tongue back in and then coughed and gagged, choking on it. The Macuahuitl had missed it by inches. “Do that again and I’ll cut it off!” Billy yelled. “I know you’ll grow a new one, but I bet it’ll hurt.” (Book 4, the Necromancer)

I am skipping the scrimblo bimblo category because it is almost the exact same as the next one.

Glup shitto: Cernunnos

It’s a shame that Cernunnos was only in book 3, but by GOD did it have the most AWESOME entrance and description ever. It was an excellent way to introduce Archons, what they were, and the effect they had on others just by being there. I love every single detail about it… from Dee slowly figuring out how it operates, to even the pronouns it’s described with changing as the reader becomes familiar with it (going from purely “it” pronouns to “he” later on.) Cernunnos my beloved I miss you every day,,,

A wave of stinking fur, claws, teeth and eyes made yellow by the lights flowed down the streets, boiling out of the houses, leaping through windows, flattening fences, pushing up through sewers. Filthy foul-smelling creatures gathered in a huge silent semicircle behind the Archon. They had the bodies of enormous grey wolves… but they all had human faces. “Turn,” Cernunnos said. Without moving its body, its head swiveled at an impossible angle to regard the silent army behind it, and then it looked back at Dee. “You are strong. You will last a year before you become part of the Wild Hunt.” (Book 3, The Sorceress)

Poor little meow meow: Gilgamesh

This is a very different interpretation from Fate Series’ Gilgamesh. SINF’s interpretation of the character is much more pleasant, and much more blatantly tragic. The driving force of the 3rd book technically revolves around meeting with him, and conflicting ideas of him are given throughout the story before he is actually introduced- until you finally meet him. It’s an anticlimactic meeting… he’s not a kingly figure, and despite being the oldest immortal human, he’s far less impressive than any other immortal human they meet. He can barely hold his thoughts together through the jumbled overflow of memories that he holds in his mind. Everything important to him needs to be written down because he is always at risk of forgetting everything dear to him. And,,, oouuughhghhh,,,,

“The Alchemyst leaned forward, and for a moment, it looked as if he was about to put his hand on the king’s shoulder. Then he drew it back and asked gently, “What are you remembering now, Gilgamesh?” The king pressed his index finger into the page, rubbing silver tears into the paper. “The day someone cared enough to shed a tear for me.” (Book 3, The Sorceress)

Horse plinko: Scathach

I love Scathach as a character but I feel like the struggles that she was put through were a little bit inconsistent? I wish that we’d gotten to see more about her relationship with Aoife from her side- it makes sense why we didn’t get to see that, but having her focus on other aspects on her family in the final books doesn’t feel as impactful when their sister relationship had so much intrigue surrounding it in Book #4. I assume that the focus shifting to Scathach’s parents has to do with keeping up the parallels to the twins since their story shifts to having a conflict with their parents.

But I still think that Scathach should’ve gotten more of a spotlight on her emotions on Aoife. She’s too optimistic. I think I need to hit her over the head with a massive metaphorical hammer.

Then Scatty strolled out into the yard. She was twirling her nunchaku as if she were Charlie Chaplin swinging a cane. There wasn’t a hair out of place or a mark on her body, and her green eyes were bright and alert. “Oh, I’m in a much better mood now,” she announced. The twins looked past her in the corridor. Nothing and no one moved in the darkness beyond. “But there were about ten of them…,” Sophie began. Scathach shrugged. “Twelve, actually.” “Armed…,” Josh said. He glanced sidelong at his sister, then back at the Warrior. He swallowed hard. “You didn’t kill them, did you?” Wood snapped and something collapsed in the shop. “No, they’re just… sleeping.” Scatty smiled. (Book 2, The Magician)

Eeby deeby: Niccoló Machiavelli

Oh my god. I LOVE Machiavelli. Everything about his arc is executed so wonderfully- I love from the moment he’s introduced, there is a very clear distinction between him and Dee, how the two operate, and how the two act. Dee is a terrifying villain, sure, manipulative and cunning, but Machiavelli has a striking subtleness to him that contrasts his layers to Dee being a less mysterious villain. I love how even though they are both manipulators, we see what makes Machiavelli a master in how he expertly controls situations- he’s able to direct the interests of Elders themselves to get what he wants, while Dee is constantly getting into trouble thanks to his brash and rushed decisions.

I also hate him and want him to be eaten alive.

Just for fun, here are my rapid fire rambling thoughts on the ATLA ships and platonic dynamics hehe (please don’t go full ship wars tho - these are just my opinions as a chill multishipper!)

My Favorite Ships:

• Zukka - My current brainrot and main ship!! I know they aren’t canon but I really love them and their potential okay😭I just feel like their personalities would work so well! Sokka would call Zuko on his shit and Zuko would be good at grounding Sokka when he needs it. Plus I have seen some absolutely breathtaking AUs with this ship! And fire-and-ice vibes except gay! Them <3

• Kataang - Cutiessss!! I love them! They may not be the ship I think about most often, but when I do think about them, they’re adorable! Aang is such a “my wife” guy and Katara absolutely adores him back! Also the last airbender x last southern waterbender dynamic goes HARD! I like that these two are canon!

• Yuetara - Listen I know they barely interacted but THEY’VE ACTUALLY GROWN ON ME SO MUCH LATELY AND I VERY HIGH KEY SHIP THEM! Something about like, Katara thinking about Yue when she bends is so😭Their story would be heartbreaking in the best way!! Sapphic noncanon blorbos <3

• Mailee - These two are SO cute and have so much potential rahhh!! Again, love some noncanon sapphics <3

• Batkoda - Super SUPER cute and silly and fun! The dads fr <3 Bato is either Katara and Sokka’s adopted uncle or their stepdad and I love it for them hehe! This usually pairs well with a “Hakoda adopts Zuko” AU lmao!

Other Canon/Relatively Popular Ships:

• Zutara - A good ship! I see the potential and tbh it’s very very fun to think about sometimes!!! However, some of y’all toxic Zutara stans need to leave my boy Aang alone lmao. Those who are chill tho, I rock with y’all!! Overall, I’m not opposed if it’s done well and I do sometimes seek out Zutara content! I personally do prefer writing them as found siblings tho, especially with the Azula and Katara parallels!!

• Sukka - Canon cuties!! I really like them! Suki my BELOVED <3 She’s so underrated!

• Yukka - Also canon cuties! They make me sad tho ahhhhh😭😭😭

• Maiko - Also ALSO canon cuties!! They have an interesting dynamic that I can really appreciate! And gotta love Mai <3

• Jinko - Jin my beloved! These two had a super cute dynamic during the one episode they had together lmaoooo, tho I don’t think about this ship too too often.

• Tokka - I don’t mind it if it’s them getting together as adults! But tbh I personally don’t prefer shipping them as teens and I think Toph’s crush was just a typical young girl crush on someone slightly older lol. Definitely not horrible and most Tokka shippers are relatively chill! I like to think Sokka sees Toph as a little sister tho.

Now For Some Of The Crackship-y/Less Popular Ships (based on ships I’ve actually seen):

• Zukki (Zuko/Sokka/Suki) - Power throuple fr and I love some polyamory!! While I mostly lean plain Zukka, this is extremely fun to think about and would be a great dynamic!

• Mai/Ty Lee/Suki - Saw this in a Zukka fic once and it was adorableeeeee! I may not have plans to actively write this or anything, but it’s cute! Another power throuple!

• Jetko - I don’t think they would be compatible long term, but by god they are very very fun to think about in a “Jet flirts with Zuko and Zuko is completely oblivious and they share one kiss before everything goes to shit” way lmao!

• Taang - I can respect it!! I will always love them as chaos siblings personally, but it’s a totally valid and chill ship!

• Katoph - Not a bad ship at all! I’ve only come across like one post tho lmao. Also I do think I heavily prefer them as found sisters, but that’s just me personally! Again, totally a valid and chill ship!

• Azutara - I’m very neutral on this lmao. I don’t despise it at all and it could be pretty interesting?? But tbh really not something I plan to seek out.

• Azulaang - I mean?? I’m also pretty neutral on this one. Aang would be kind to her if she was trying to get help but…idk lmao.

• Tyzula - I see the potential, but I personally think Mai and Ty Lee had a healthier and more interesting and more realistic dynamic. Just my preference tho!

(I think I just want Azula to be in therapy before I reallyyyyy ship her lmao, but NOT THE KIND OF “THERAPY” SHE WAS GIVEN IN THE COMICS)

• Zukaang - I don’t love this as a ship honestly. The canon age gap as teens is sketchy for my personal taste, tho I’ve seen people ship them in “Aang was 16 when he got frozen” AUs and that’s…better and I can get behind it a little! It would be interesting! But I think Roku being Zuko’s great-grandpa just still throws me off of this ship. I don’t have any beef with the shippers tho! I’m very “live and let live” and I have seen so much worse lol.

Can’t Forget My Fav Platonic Dynamics!

• Sokka and Aang - Two found brothers who share one idiot braincell when they interact LMAO! Love them always <3

• Sokka and Katara - The siblings ever!!

• Zuko and Aang - Enemies to found brothers!! Canon besties! I love their friendship and their parallels SO MUCH!!

• Toph and Katara - Absolutely ADORABLE as found sisters!!!! Love them!

• Zuko and Katara - I really like their development in a platonic sense and I think they’re very very fun and lovely found siblings by the end!!!! Zuko is 100% the brother that just “yeah my sister can and will whoop your ass” LMAO!

• Zuko and Toph - Also very found siblings in my head!! Only have a handful of solo interactions in canon but I DON’T CARE! I WILL FOUND FAMILY THEM ANYWAY! I’m a “Toph seeks out Zuko for sibling hugs/cuddles when she’s cold because he’s basically a space heater” truther.

• Uncle Iroh and the Gaang - Zuko needs to learn to share because that is ALL OF THEIR Uncle!!!

• Hakoda and Zuko - I thrive in this section of the fandom!! They have exactly one (1) frame together in canon, but I ADORE Dadkoda adopting Zuko! Something about it is just so wholesome and cute!!! My very very fav ATLA fics are this trope!!#LetHakodaBitchSlapOzaiAndAdoptZuko2024

• Uncle Iroh and Zuko - God they make me so ALSNDKSNXNCNSNSNXNX, y’know?

• The Gaang as a whole - Obvious I know, but I really do love them😭They all bonded sm and I adore their little family!! I eat up fanart of the Gaang cuddling like CANDY omg. And yes Suki is included in the Gaang because WHY WOULDN’T SHE BE!

WIP I’m actually working on:

I’m like 15 pages deep in some Winterhawk space wizard AU brain rot that is entirely the fault of @claraxbarton. Should I be working on this? No. Is it one of my WIPs, fictional obligations, or an update on any series? Also no.

HOWEVER, someone wisely told me that rotating your WIP crops is good for the blorbo soil, so. This is my cover crop. Also it’s been really really fun and writing hasn’t been fun in like a whole ass year so I’m not going to stop doing it.

WIP I keep open in the background so I don’t feel guilty:

Fake-EMT Jason moves to New York to lay low until Batman stops being mad at him, meets Clint Barton and goes on a vendetta against the Tracksuit Draculas. Featuring sulking-about-it Bucky Barnes. This is a gift for @noxnthea which I AM going to finish, it just got kind of sidelined by the, you know, crushing depression of the last year or so.

Imaginary project:

A musician!AU inspired by the dumbest possible premise, which is the trailer from that terrible-looking JLo movie with Owen Wilson called ‘Marry Me’. It looks so incredibly dumb but would likely be incredible as a fanfic. Unfortunately I don’t know anything about the music industry so it’s basically dead in the water.

Passion project:

Always always aways Halfway House. It’s not abandoned, it’s just sadly neglected. I peck at it every so often, adding words here and there, and eventually one day it will grow even more!

WIP from 3 months ago:

The Loyalty of Wolves - werewolf AU my beloved. The gentle premise of this is that Bucky is a werewolf who can’t shift, and Clint is a werewolf who wants to help him so damn much. And also they fall in love. But then they totally pine about it because the love is required they’re just both idiots.

Side WIP:

I don’t really know what this category means, but I’ve decided it means the WIP that’s supposed to be to the side, and unfortunately that’s the first one on the list, so actually I’m gonna say it’s Social Graces, which is what I WAS working on before the brain rot got me.

But this week I finally sat down with @wen-kexing-apologist and binged the whole thing, and had a grand ol’ time doing it. @waitmyturtles the verdict is two enthusiastic thumbs up. This was such a fun romp, and here are a few of the things I loved most about it:

SHIN MY BELOVED

Guess who has a new blorbo!! In hindsight it is absolutely absurd that it took a Tay Tawan girlie like me so long to watch this show, because Shin is an instant entry on the all-time fav characters list. I love his sad gay ass. He’s sensitive, he’s lonely, he’s repressed, he’s far too susceptible to Stockholm syndrome, and I would protect him with my life.

A working class trans character with an actual plot?! Thank you for your endless gifts, P’Jojo. Sure, my girl Mae made some questionable choices (just a little light murder!), but listen, I support her, in the words of @wen-kexing-apologist, embracing her feminine rage. And in the end, she figured out exactly the right target for her rage and lived her best life.

A Survivor. Gets shit done. Absolutely will kill a man if he forces her hand. Loyal to her boyfriends even when it would probably be smarter to ditch them. Also, she so pretty.

Neo and Shin’s backstory

Episode 5 was my favorite of the show and the moment it really clicked for me. I loved getting a glimpse of Shin’s lonely and dejected teen years (I just wanna talk, Ken 🔪🔪🔪). I loved that the basis of Neo and Shin’s relationship and initial attraction was the way they played together. Shin laughed more in his few days with Neo than he probably had in the several years preceding them. I loved that Neo gave him his first kiss and that Shin treasured those memories so dearly.

The Worst Criminals Of All Time

Truly remarkable these three are still alive by the end of the show. Their ideas were half-baked and their execution was severely lacking. They never had a plan they thought all the way through and they never had a single scheme that went off without a hitch. Luckily, the bad guys chasing them were also thoroughly incompetent, so it all evened out. The only smart person in this show was Miw’s mom, who knew the only prudent move was to stay the hell out of this mess.

Miw and Shin’s friendship

I just love that these two developed their own bond, even though they’re not into each other the same way they’re both into Neo. They both risked their lives to save the other. They tease and joke with each other. Shin literally wanted to bring his new bestie home to live with him. They’re adorable.

Toptap. My guy. What are you doing here and why are you being so strange? Are you good, are you bad, are you chaotic neutral? Who can tell! Certainly not me. But I enjoyed every moment your weird ass was on the screen.

There's a polyamorous relationship, and it’s depicted onscreen!

Okay, here’s the part where I admit my expectations for the poly romance in this show were a liiiiiiilttle off base. I must gently rib the fandom for leading me to believe this show would have any actual sex in it (or really a focus on romance at all) and once again recite to myself a universal truth: gifs removed from context are so misleading. At the same time, I also must acknowledge how groundbreaking it was at the time to depict polyamory at all. I would have loved a bit more time spent on the actual relationship dynamics and the emotional complexities of this triad they formed, but I recognize that’s not really what this show was about and appreciate they included a polycule in the first place. Now that it’s 2023 and he’s been give a lot more freedom, I look forward to Jojo’s further exploration of sexy polycules in Only Friends.

Against all odds, these crazy kids got their happy ending

When this show started I did not see any way for them to come out of this in good shape. I was going to be happy if they simply survived. But not only did they survive, they are thriving! Shin has inherited his dad’s legitimate business and discovered he looks hot in a deep V. Neo and Miw are living that beach life they deserve. Everyone loves each other and everyone is at peace. A+, 10/10, would watch again.

to be honest, (and assuming you’re also american, though pardon me if i’m wrong), i think we’re all scarred from american christianity. i’m not trying to minimize your trauma; rather, i’m letting you know that i can empathize with you a little bit.

this might need its own post, but i’m seeing scrupulosity becoming more and more of a problem in the current online age, on both sides of the political spectrum. i think you’d be surprised at how many people feel very similar to you, even if they’re not religious, either. tumblr culture, especially, emphasizes scrupulosity (and to be honest, i think all social media does—i’ve been thinking about doing a social media cleanse recently because of this very thing).

you may feel as though you don’t fit in, but i’d like to remind you that mary magdalene, one of christ’s closest disciples, also faced her own problems with mental illness. scripture states that she was possessed by demons, and although of course we can’t be sure whether it was actual possession or mental illness, i think it’s safe to say that she would absolutely know where you’re coming from. (i say this not to go “you can conquer your mental illness if you believe enough,” but instead to assure you that our beloved blorbos from the bible would understand our struggles even today).

there are many disabled people in the bible. though, of course, they are very often the subjects of miracle healing, it is telling that jesus emphasizes that their disability is not a mark of sin or a matter of “deserving it,” it’s simply a facet of them.

there are countless stories i could cite, but i think it boils down to this: jesus is with the poor, the disabled, the meek, the unclean, and the ostracized at all times. jesus was poor and ostracized. he is not with one singular nation or ideology. if he sees someone being mistreated, regardless of who they are or what they’ve done, he is with them.

i promise you, you fit.

as for whether it’s okay to not like the church, and for what i might recommend—again, i can’t offer religious advice, but i can offer my opinion.

i think it’s fine to dislike the church. to be honest, they haven’t given us a whole lot of reasons to like them! god was here before the church and he’ll be here after the church. some might say that loving god is loving the church, which is a whole other discussion, but in short, god understands. IMO, it is more important to love yourself, your neighbor, and love through and with god, than to devote yourself to an institution. after all, contemporarily, the big institutions of the time weren’t exactly super hep on christianity.

part of strengthening my relationship with god was through finding a church i really enjoyed. this, of course, might not be desirable or available to you. i would say that finding a community who can accept both your sexuality & your faith (easier said than done) is the truest way you can establish your own version of church.

building and supporting a loving community is probably the most rewarding thing i can think of, regardless of someone’s faith/lack thereof. i’ve often dreamed of establishing a little trans christian commune, actually, although i know it’s just a fantasy. but i think creating a network of people who care for one another and can live and work in harmony is about the closest we can get to heaven on earth!

This is an absolutely off the wall AU but I was listening to the Spirited Away soundtrack and started wondering what would happen if I shoved my darling blorbos into a similar plot and here we are.

So I figure the premise would be Trevor moving a fair distance for work—the company he works for (probably something pretty similar to INAC) has opened a new headquarters somewhere and is relocating a significant number of its’ staff. Trevor, not having much to tie him down to his previous home, is pretty ambivalent towards uprooting himself to go somewhere else.

He’s giving his work friend Gus a ride to Gus’ new apartment (idk why Gus doesn’t have his own car, I just need someone to function as the same catalyst that Chihiro’s parents were because tbh I can see no way that Trevor would enter a creepy abandoned theme park of his own volition and Gus seems to fit the bill pretty well). Gus is helping Trevor navigate with a big ol’ road atlas and he’s doing a pretty good job of it up until he misreads the atlas and accidentally sends them up a remote country lane. Just like the movie, they wind up in front of a crumbling facade—the entrance to an abandoned theme park. Trevor is immediately ready to turn around and try to recalculate their route, but Gus is tired of driving and lobbies to take the opportunity to stretch their legs. Trevor isn’t so sure—something feels off to him—but Gus announces that he’s going to go explore with or without him and there’s no way Trevor’s going to let him go in there *alone.* So he grabs Kovacs, because he doesn’t know how long they’re gonna be out and he doesn’t want to leave his beloved turtle alone in the car, and reluctantly follows Gus inside.

They have a look around, but it starts getting dark and Trevor is more than ready to head back. Gus says he can smell food and wants to find out what it is. Now beginning to feel that something is seriously amiss, Trevor argues that whatever food they find here probably won’t be that great because the place is abandoned, to which Gus teasingly responds that maybe if Trevor had stopped at that McDonald’s he’d pointed out an hour back instead of forging on, he wouldn’t be forced to take such extreme measures. Naturally, they find the spirit restaurant and Gus tucks in. Trevor, seriously spooked, wanders off to wait for Gus with Kovacs. Then the spirits start coming out. Trevor freaks out, rushes back to find Gus and get the hell out of there, and promptly finds that Gus has been transformed into an animal (I’m not sure which kind—it feels sort of mean to turn him into a pig but maybe that’s just me). Trevor attempts to go back only to find a massive ocean has appeared where the exit once was. So all in all Trevor is having a bad time of it. Enter Angela!

She guides Trevor into a secluded spot away from the chaos of the emerging spirits and explains that the theme park is actually a theatre meant to entertain the residents of the Spirit Realm, run by the witch Vivian. Angela herself is a permanent employee of the theatre, as she can no longer remember her true name and is thus eternally at Vivian’s service. Trevor is terribly confused about everything and still quite frightened, but Angela manages to get through to him that the only way to remain safe here is to secure employment under Vivian, and Trevor decides to trust her. She sends him to seek out her colleague Gene, who might have work for Trevor or otherwise be able to help him get a meeting with Vivian. Trevor sets off with Kovacs in hand, determined to at least try his best to get out of this insane situation.

Gene has no work for Trevor to do, and instead guides him through the Theatre to have an audience with Vivian. Initially insulting Trevor by stating he’s too boring and untalented to be part of any of the actual performances, Vivian assigns him work as a stagehand in exchange for his name, which she replaces with the number 10-3-92.

That’s all I’ve got so far. I know Angela probably spends most of the plot trying to thwart Vivian and find a way to get Trevor back to the human world, but I haven’t thought up all the details of how that works out yet. Does Vivian have some kind of master plot here like in the original game? I have no idea. Possibly Angela decides to leave with Trevor after he helps her remember her real name (which I figured in this AU would be Àngela Guardiana)? Idk there’s a lot of loose ends here I just had to get the brainworm out.

okay i do need a disclaimer that i am not an F1 scholar by any means i simply enjoy it very casually adn see my lovely mutuals post about it :) like i got into it bc my very offline best friend has loved max forever hes like my most beloved blorbo in law <3. daniel ricciardo is my babygirl though i love his ass. so dont throw rocks at meee

so for in terms of their similarities.... ive talked a little bit about the inherent ego that is tied to racing at the level these guys race at, adn max is definitely in that same vein. he's confident! super sweet off track but in the heat of the race knows when he has to prioritize himself and is not apologetic about it in the least. thats how you win. and thats where him and marc often get into trouble with the media lol (though marc is better at withholding, max will mostly just. say it. king.). but i also think theres a conversation to be had about how any single person in the conversation for GOAT in their respective sport has to be at least mildly crazy in terms of how they relate to their jobs. like obsessive religious devotion from young childhood in many ways.... for vehicular death sport more than mildly methinks. so one fun thing is that whenever they meet they can kind of talk to each other about racing in circles forever bc they love it :) freak4freak friendship where they relate to each other bc their sports are in conversation but not competition with each other, which makes the convo more fun! and it means they can literally just sit there and explain racing to someone who understands what its like to be a too-young protege champion but has enough gaps in their knowledge that a lot of info is mostly new. that must be pretty interesting to them both (especially max who loves that shit lol)

but the thing about max (and again im not a scholar) is that his childhood is so dominated by this complex entanglement between racing and his family and his father and all that mess. marc doesnt really have that same familial trauma tied to this huge polestar of his life (there are other traumas adn other family weirdness with marc but uhhhh this aint about that.) like max absolutely has that dog in him. but i think if he got super injured like marc he wouldnt necessarily do the crazy resilient comeback against all odds like marc did, i think he would retire! and some part of him would be kind of quietly relieved that he can let it go without disappointing anyone and then he'd go on the sim 8 hours a day adn be pretty happy. in a way marc absolutely would not be. but again i am no expert!!

This poor man *spoilers from Supernatural season 5 finale onwards* was imprisoned in hell with the literal devil and was canonically tortured by Lucifer for (estimated) 200 years (possibly longer depending on how hell time works). He came out of the experience completely traumatized then the show repeatedly makes him work with and see Lucifer after the fact (there were A LOT of problems with how the show handled that for the record). All of this makes him an excellent whumpee. And Lucifer is horrible which makes him a good whumper. *spoilers over*

But quick shoutout to Hiccup Haddock because he’s number 3 and just so freaking whumpable it’s not even funny

7. What are the traits of your ideal whumper?: Hmm. Creepy/intimate for sure, so many whumperflies… smart; knows what they’re doing and if whumpee escapes it’s all controlled and/or part of the plan. Does their own dirty work, doesn’t use henchmen or whatever to do the whumping.

I’m not super picky with my whumper tbh, I can work with pretty much anything.
