Omg yes of course! Thank you for asking!! (I apologize that I took a hot minute to reply to this lol)

So, Daiyu is around 34 at the time she is introduced. She’s Earth Kingdom and the daughter of General Haojin, a very prominent figure and a stern man.

Growing up, she always wanted to fight in the army like her father to protect her home from the Fire Nation. Of course, the Earth Kingdom largely doesn’t allow women in the military (excepting Kyoshi Island), so that didn’t end up working in her favor.

As a teen, she had some similarities to Toph actually. She would sneak into underground fight clubs to learn all she could and sharpen her skills, eventually mastering sword fighting by the time she was a young adult. To her father though, she was still his perfect, girly daughter.

Once she became an adult, she did a lot of administrative work for her father, but she really just used it as a cover to gather intel on the Fire Nation for her vigilante work (which y’all will learn more about later).

She’s strong, smart, and brave, but she’s also stubborn and doesn’t trust easily. Meeting the Gaang changes a lot for her, and the found family relationship that they develop ends up being really cute.

Okay so I return to this site to bless you all with this knowledge:

I was writing for a fic recently and I realized something about Zuko and Teo.

They had canonically met before the Western Air Temple episodes.

Think about it - Teo’s dad says they’ve been at the Northern Air Temple since Teo was too young to remember, right? So what, at least a decade ago?

And directly after his banishment three years ago, which angry Emo Fire Boy was going around to all four of the Air Temples to search for the Avatar??

Yep. Zuko.

Zuko would’ve undoubtedly run in to the settlement at the Northern Air Temple, furious at the world and demanding that these refugees give up an Avatar that they didn’t have.

Serious missed opportunity for some Teo sass toward Zuko if they had actually let them interact on screen and address this😂😂

Teo: *Makes his way back to the Gaang after exploring the temple with Haru and The Duke* Hey guys, what’s up?

Aang: We found a firebending teacher for me!

Teo: Oh, sweet! Who?

Zuko: *Walks into Teo’s line of sight* That would be me.

Late night ramble because why not lmao.

As someone with PTSD, I loved the PTSD representation in The Legend of Korra!

First off, it is SO rare to get proper PTSD representation that isn’t a middle aged guy who is an army veteran/previous soldier/superhero (not that those sorts of characters are all poorly handled - I’m just trying to say that we need more than one singular type of PTSD representation). Part of what drew me to Korra in the first place was getting to see someone more like me who struggled with this!

And yes, Korra’s PTSD was made a bit more fantastical for younger audiences (like having a physical manifestation of her trauma follow her), but I do believe it was written very well! The meanings were all quite clear, and I personally saw a lot of similarities to my own PTSD in Korra’s struggles.

Anyway, all of this to say - I really appreciate LOK for offering this type of PTSD representation!! It was sorely needed and I really love Korra as a character!
