been thinking about jason being petty towards bruce. like, oh, you spend time with your other kids, but not me? tire privileges revoked! it would be over stupid shit too.
like there’s one time bruce decides to take damien to the movies, and jason is just beside himself.
like the conversation would be like:
JASON: So, let me get this straight—you took Damian to a movie.
BRUCE: He asked.
JASON: Oh, and I wouldn’t have wanted to see Kung Fu Panda 4 with you?!
BRUCE: You were busy.
JASON: Busy taking down a cartel. Which, by the way, I learned from you. I deserve quality time!
BRUCE: Jason—
JASON: No. No excuses. You’ll learn.
Jason storms off. Five minutes later, an alert pops up on the Batcomputer.
BATCOMPUTER: Warning: Batmobile rear tires have been removed.
BRUCE: …Jason.
Cut to Jason outside, rolling two Batmobile tires away, cackling.
#this isn’t the last time jason steals the tires#bruce keeps doing stuff with the other batkids#and Jason is like look at this opportunity#like imagining if tim gets arrested for something bc i mean come on tims a menace#then bruce just bails tim out and just the week before jason was arrested and bruce let him sit in jail for like two days#jason blew up something so like bad jason#either way jason is like i warned you batbitch and he steals the tires from the batmobile again and then who knows what happens to the tires#unfortunately it gets worse#bc bruce then takes dick to a fancy ass dinner#and it’s to one of Jason’s favorite stakehouses#Like it was the only fancy food place he could stand#good steak is good steak#and jason’s like this is crossing a line#so instead of stealing the tires again#he just takes the entire batmobile#how? no one knows#no one sees the batmobile again or the tires#at least until Batman gets a call from various members of the JL asking him why pieces of the batmobile have been popping up in the city#however it’s about the car itself#no one knows where the tires are still#jason calling Oliver up and saying like i don’t like you man but like we both don’t like batman want his tires?#jason todd#bruce wayne#dick grayson#tim drake#dc universe#batman#batfamily#batfam#damian wayne

Red Robin Writing Prompt
Tim only told Jason that Jason had been cleaning up Gotham the ‘easy way’ is because Tim knows for a fact how easy killing is. He had his first kill before he was even 7 years old.
No one realizes this until Joker makes Tim “choose” between shooting one of two batfam members and Tim just picks up the gun without hesitation and shoots the Joker in just the right spot for it to be fatal but for it to not be an instant death.
Tim turns to Jason, “Like I said: Easy way out.”
#writing prompt#fanfic prompt#writing#fanfic#fanfic idea#fanfic ideas#dc#tim drake#red robin#red robin fanfic#Tim was left alone too much as a child#only reason he realized that killing was bad was from stalking Batman#Tim is not the most mentally well child#I mean it’s practically canon considering how easily he blew up the League of Assassins bases…#Tim needs therapy#in canon and in this writing prompt#so do the rest of the Bats#jason todd

Thinking about the CFAU and marveling at how much Danny and Jason care for one another. Does anybody else figure out that Danny is going to kill the Joker, or is that knowledge Jason exclusive? I can't see Danny being close enough to any other Batfam member to disclose his plans, but I wonder if he drops hints. They're a family of paranoid detectives. I'd be surprised if they don't figure out Danny has a PURPOSE for being in Gotham at some point. Whether Danny's able to disguise it as wanting to be closer to Jason or not is another burning question.
Its def Red Hood exclusive! You're right in that Danny isn't close enough to disclose his revenge plot to any of the batfam members -- hell, not even Sam and Tucker know his true motives for returning to Gotham, and they're his best friends right after Jason! And Red Hood knows only because Danny accidentally slipped up ;].
I do also think that the Waynes kinda think something might be up with Danny -- at least Dick and/or Bruce might since they're the only ones who actually know him beyond brief mentions of him. Tim knows about him due to his stalking, but doesn't really know him -- and Danny plans to keep a healthy, friendly distance from the family so he can carry out his plans.
It's not that he holds any dislike towards them -- quite the opposite. He appreciates what they do for Gotham and recognizes the hard work that goes into keeping their Rogues Gallery at bay (even if he is bitter about Joker, but there's an obvious reason for that) -- but, well. He knows they're the vigilantes, he doesn't want to risk them sniffing out his murder plot before he can even go through with it.
Luckily for him he can excuse any distance he puts between them as just being busy with life and trying to settle in, and they're not close enough to him anymore to find it suspicious. I do think they figure out he's back in Gotham for a reason, Danny's not going to exactly hide the fact that he's back to find some kind of closure -- but what that closure is?
I think the only person who might suspect something sinister going on would be Bruce, who saw the sinking rage in Danny's eyes at the funeral -- it was part of the reason he didn't tell him who killed Jason (beyond secret identity reasons). But that depends on whether or not Danny reveals some of his hand, and the fact that he was still holding onto that rage (somewhat unwillingly) all this time.
#dpxdc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc#cfau#childhood friends au#cfau danny#dpxdc crossover#danny's kept this deep-seeded hatred close to his chest for years. he's so close to his goal he's more careful than ever. he's under the#watchful eyes of his home city and the even more watchful eyes of her knights. he can't make any mistakes here -- not after the last one#with red hood. every step he takes going forward must be a cautious one so he doesn't draw the light of the batsignal.#also! funnily enough danny doesn't blame bruce for jason's death. sure they had a fight but he's not the one who sold him out to the joker#he's not the one who beat him to death. who blew him up. he's bitter over the fact that bruce withheld the identity of his murderer from hi#but even he can recognize the need to protect one's secret identity so he doesn't hold it against him that much. he's bitter over the lack#of action against the joker but that's a personal vendetta and again he recognizes how hard it is to be a hero. he would never ask bruce to#kill the Joker. he recognizes the fact that a hero cannot play judge jury or executioner and he respects Bruce's adherence to his moral cod#he knows it must be hard and he agrees that batman shouldn't kill. ever. bc if the batman kills the joker what's stopping him from killing#the common criminal? its a level of self-restraint and self-awareness that all heroes must have. and he genuinely respects bruce for it#if someone wants the joker dead that bad they can go and do the deed themself -- that's what HE'S doing. danny recognizes that his revenge#is wholly selfish in nature. it is closure for him and jason and him and jason only. its not good its not righteous its murder and danny#has come to terms with it.

By the way, did we ever talk about how stupid it is that they made Silco the reason Felicia died? I don't mean that he killed her personally, but that he jumpstarted violence on a peaceful protest. Because that's sooo who Silco is, right? A character who makes impulsive and poorly thought out decisions, right? A character who goes into a fight headstrong without carefully planning his moves and strategy and just YOLO-ing it, right? Right?? ......sigh
And don't even THINK about giving me the whole "wElL hE cHaNgEd SiNcE tHeN dUh" crap. Even s2 is smart enough to show us him writing something in a notebook in a flashback, which implies that he was the brains behind the Lanes' creation/revolution as a whole. And if he was he would never sabotage his own plans with something so stupid as throwing a single molotov at enforcers. Literally who does that???? Silco we know would probably organize an attack under the guise of a peaceful protest, but not just. Straight-up ruining just a regular peaceful protest. That's stupid. And Silco is the last character in arcane that would do something stupid. Literally the whole plot of season 1 relies on him being intelligent and sneaky with his plans are you kidding me.
#i mean. silco DID do something stupid. that being his attempt to kill vi and cait near the water tower#but i'll actually close my eyes on this one because writers just couldn't allow him to kill them because they're part of the main cast. but#if he wanted he would've killed them then#with the rifle cait gave to the pharmacist for example *twirls hair* yeah you get it#stop assassinating him for the love of god he's already dead#silco arcane#arcane critical#arcane season 2#arcane#also i remember a post comparing him to jinx like. they accidentally killed their family when they only wanted to help#but that doesn't work for several reasons. first is ofc silco's character as i wrote above. and not only he is a different character he's#much older too. jinx was what? 9? when she blew up the cannery. while silco was in his mid-late 20s. you don't think the same in this age a#a nine year old. second is the circumstances. jinx only built a bomb with whatever she had at her hands at the time because she needed to#act fast. otherwise silco would kill her entire family. silco on the other hand started the whole thing. it would make a little bit more#sense if he threw a molotov as a reaction to enforcers beating someone up/arresting someone but we don't have this implication iirc#so. please please please don't try to find reason in bad writing i literally lose my sanity

political thriller where padme and dooku are besties/toxic mentor-mentee/weird grandpa-adopted kid in a leo mcgarry + josh lyman style. padme accepts dooku’s offer in a sudden move because she’s sick of the chancellor and finds anakin fascinating but unnerving. dooku is all like “oh my evil plan is working” but they both slowly realize that they’re fucked once dooku and padme realize the scale of palpatine’s ambitions. dooku as a way for padme to express rebellion against the chancellor and the failing republic by sneaking secrets and helping the CIS. padme as a way for dooku to have a second chance and the hopefulness of the youth. leftist infighting. kotor influences and the understanding of the failures of the jedi in being tied so intimately w the senate. “we will watch your career with great interest.” is this anything???
#star wars#count dooku#padme amidala#yes i find jedi lost so fascinating but there’s so many things that i could do better <- im very humble#i think a lot of writers don’t want to acknowledge the failures of the republic too deeply and end up doing the whole mcu thing#the whole “oh xyz villains were right in their ideology but also blew up a bus of kids#star wars fans need to move on from good and bad as dichotomies and think about actions and intent#anyways it’s obviously a political thriller w kotor themes. apathy is death and all that

i cannot take the lucanis romance discourse anymore. this game was advertised as having the best romances in the entire franchise and then when the actual game dropped he is the one character with the least content in the entire game despite being a MAIN companion esp in relation to the other quests + his romance lock in scene is LITERALLY 45 seconds, it has barely any substance and it's pretty poorly written AND if during the first big choice in the game u get locked out of his romance (which. even tho it could be in character that is a BAD decision in a game series that prides itself again on its romances and is actually a sign of not good decision making taking into consideration the fact that he becomes a NOTHING character regardless of romance after saving minrathous) i think people are allowed to be a bit bitter and disappointed because THAT IS NEITHER NORMAL NOR A GOOD DECISION IN AN RPG THAT'S COMPANION DRIVEN.
#in what world is it normal or good writing to have a MAJOR CHARACTER that u just cannot get to know via his arc because u had to make#a choice.#i WANT my decisions to impact my gameplay yes. i want characters who i've wronged to fight me every step of the way. one of my favorite#parts of inquisition is having cassandra absolutely despise my inquisitor.i enjoy the challenge that is romancing fenris as a pro magic mag#but the way they did lucanis' arc post minrathous/treviso choice was not the way to do it#either they didnt have enough time to finish his hardened arc OR someone sat down and said that in the game u pay SIXTY euros for to get to#know this character. you actually will not be able to see how he evolves as an embittered hardened version of himself lol get fucked#how is that good writing??? how is that good decision making?????#could u have imagined if u had rivalry with anders he just. fucked off to do all of his personal quests without u getting to see any of it#and then at the end of the game u didnt even get to see him blow up the chantry?? he just rolls up and says he blew up the chantry???#THAT is what happened with lucanis. why are we defending that shit#and like god. i wanna like a lot of parts of this game so bad i really do. im trying my best to make lucanis work with what we've been give#but this. blind idolization and defending of veilguard's writing from parts of the fandom makes it SO hard

At the center of their [the secessionists'] strategy was a highly orchestrated effort to appeal directly to nonslaveholders by casting the decision over secession as one in which their future (and not just that of the planters) was at stake. To that end, old moderates-turned-fire-eaters built their own propaganda machine, an organization called the "1860 Association," formed in September 1860 by the Charleston merchant, Robert Gourdin, and a handful of men from the wealthiest planter families in the low country. They were a propaganda group functioning as a revolutionary club. The purpose, they boldly announced, was to prepare the South in the event of the "accession of Mr Lincoln and the Republican Party to power," and, specifically, to prepare, print, and distribute tracts and pamphlets "designed to awaken" the people of the slave states to a conviction of their danger and to urge the necessity of resisting Northern and federal aggression. The 1860 Association aimed, that is, to unify the public opinion of the state and the South behind secession as the proper response to the election of a "Black Republican" president. By the fall of 1860 every newspaper in the state, including the traditionally moderate Charleston Courier had fallen in line. The Association published and distributed all over the South some 166,000 pamphlets, all within the few months surrounding the presidential election. Tellingly enough, they specifically commissioned a pamphlet on the problem of the nonslaveholding voter.
Tract No. 5, James D. B. DeBow's The Interest in Slavery of the Southern Nonslaveholder, met the challenge head-on, offering an aggressive argument about how nonslaveholders "were even more deeply interested than any other in the maintenance of our institutions and in the success of the movement now inaugurated ... [for] the political independence of the South." The value and dignity of white men's labor in a slave society formed the crux of DeBow's appeal: "No white man at the South serves another as a body servant, to clean his boots, wait on his table, and perform the menial services of his household. His blood revolts against this and his necessities would never drive him to it." But just for good measure he finished with a threat, offering a dystopian image of the post-emancipation South as a scene of sexual and racial degradation that the rich white man would escape by emigration, but that nonslaveholders and their families would have to endure. DeBow's pamphlet was a virtual handbook for politicians and editors crafting the populist appeal, and it was recycled heavily through the fall of 1860 in local newspapers and speeches.
stephanie mccurry, confederate reckoning: power and politics in the civil war south
#the first time i read this book this chapter blew my miiiiind#bc it had never occurred to me to think of secession as a contentious political cause in its own right within the south/confederacy#but of course it was.....#again: this just further emphasizes the extent to which the secessionists were a bunch of lying unamerican traitor losers#and we fucked up so bad letting them ever pretend they had been anything else#confederate reckoning#bookblogging#media 2k24
