My dad thinks Krusie wouldn't work out
#I was telling him about my AUs and when I got to the yandere one I told him that literally all of my AUs have Krusie#And he said it wouldn't work out#Like yes Noelle is crushing on Susie but like. All of the evidence that Susie returns the feelings could very well be completely platonic#As far as I remember at least#And NO#They HAVEN'T talked about Noelle's feelings#Like the universe where they did not talk about that is the CANON universe

Can you tell me about your dt player. Since from the way you portray them they aren’t meant to be you. Kinda your oc in a way huh. It’s a cool depiction so that’s why I’m curious.
well today is your lucky day because i literally just filled out this chart right before answering this:
basically my version of them is thoroughly mentally disconnected from all consequences, because everything is just a game to them.
apathetic with only the desire to see what happens, and what becomes of kris and noelle (in the weird route). They always just barely have the upper hand; if things don't proceed down a certain path (i.e. aborted weird route or something) it's only because they allowed for it to happen. kris is very smart, but 'our' knowledge just objectively surpasses theirs in every way. for the most part.
i guess if i had to describe them as a real-life player, it would be the kind of person that plays all the routes without feeling bad about it, someone that somehow doesnt feel as though they're entirely to blame for the story going this way. (they taunt kris over this, maybe just to pick at their brain to get a look of how they're feeling about all of this.)
after all, deltarune is a game. it's meant to be played, it's only natural that people will want to pick it apart inside and out with its level of popularity. nothing should make a player feel bad about playing the game that they bought and spent time on.
regardless of one's investment in the characters, the world is simply not real to us. but in terms of vessel specifically talking to kris or something, it's not like THEY'RE the one saying "kris you're not real lol" or anything like that, it's more so their existence as a 'watcher' of sorts outside the bounds of comprehensible reality renders them in a similar position as us, someone in control and free from any consequences (presumably), letting kris and co. take the brunt of all your wrongdoings.
there's all of that, but i also like to portray them as being more on the extreme side, going as far as to treat characters fictional even when said character is standing right in front of them.
the 'commodification' of noelle plays into this a lot i think. we haven't seen it much in game so far, but we get the implied player attachment to her via treating kris as a self-insert of sorts just so you can get weirdly, creepily close to and controlling over noelle. it comes off more as vessel only wanting to be close to noelle and kind of discarding kris, just like they once were (lol).
the player's funny little fixation on noelle definitely throws a wrench in things kris-and-noelle-relationship wise, because this Thing is masquerading as kris, and noelle (and maybe toriel to a degree) is the only person able to tell something's wrong. it's almost like Hikaru Ga Shinda Natsu in a way -- your friend has been replaced, and you're the only person to notice just because you know them so well. it comes down to noelle's heart and ability to see through whatever vessel throws at her, if she'll be able to reach her hand out and save kris from sinking away before it's too late.
ummm. im getting off track. got too krisellepilled for a sec. VESSEL. i'm definitely not immune to portraying them more lightheartedly sometimes, but when I do that, it's usually in game, more so showing up as the soul instead lol
they're still sarcastic and blunt and weird, but at least they're not crazy destructive and sociopathic. gotta tone it down for the sillies
anyway i think thats all i can think of to say at the moment, if i think of something else big i might add it in a reblog, idk lol. thank you for asking, sorry about the long post!
#mailbox#long text#text#deltarune#didnt proofread this so ignore any heinous typos i might have missed

I feel people gloss over spmaton actions because they he genuinely cares about Kris but then you play snowgrave and he obviously doesn't gaf AT ALL and gives us a ring that somehow conveniently allow Noelle to use a deadly spell people say he is insane but he is sane enough plan that Noelle killing and freezing the other citizens will distract queen and then he could take over her the castle besides the shit he says about Noelle he also says about kris and Noelle "you have been making (hyperlink blocked),havent you?" And since hyperlink blocked is probably LOVE..
It seems to me it is less of him caring about Kris and more of he is projecting into Kris whenever it is convenient for him and toss Kris aside when he doesn't them anymore or try to absorb their soul
hmm, something like that! the way I see things, I think spamton DOES care about kris and noelle, genuinely, but he's also the sort of person who's willing to use even those he cares about in any way necessary to further his own goals. that's just business, baby. at the same time though, spamton is pretty much just projecting heavily onto kris and he doesn't seem particularly in-tune with them as a person, he just sees a commonality in their situation.
as for noelle, I think what spamton said about her in the sweepstakes is enough to prove he really does care for her. buuuuuuut everything else is also true at the same time. with regards to the way spamton talks about noelle, there's a bit of ambiguity where it's not clear how much of his language is due to his glitching and how much comes straight from him being a sleazy businessman. it's almost like he doesn't have words in his roster to describe noelle, or probably any woman, that aren't sexist. it's probably something he doesn't even think about.
(an aside- personally I think [hyperlink blocked] doesn't have just one meaning, and it's meant to stand in for the concept of something powerful or unattainable. that said, the way spamton phrases "NO, I GET IT! IT'S YOU AND THAT [Hochi Mama]! YOU'VE BEEN [Making], HAVEN'T YOU! YOU'VE BEEN MAKING [Hyperlink Blocked]!" is definitely supposed to lead the player's mind towards "making love", and the phrases spamton uses to refer to noelle definitely have..... implications. again there's nuance there though- I don't think spamton himself sees noelle, a teenage girl, as a sex object. but in the eyes of advertising, especially advertising to men, which seems to be spamton's repertoire, that's all she can amount to.)
#asks#i hope im clear with what im trying to get across here like. spamton isnt a capital C Creep but he does thoughtlessly say creep shit#because that is his nature as a literal spambot and manifestation of advertising lol#hes also generally not a good dude. an interesting and endearing dude but not a good one#analysis

im going fucking insane over deltarune cus its coming out so soon and. ive literally never seen ANYONE mention this before but, if susie is the new girl in town, and dess is mentioned so little in home town that its only rudy and noelle talking about her, and susie and noelle almost never spoke before,
how would susie be able to foreshadow dess in her dialog about having a cursed sister in dragon blazers if she didn't have a sister herself with whom she plays dragon blazers with??? like throw away all the meta analysis of that line, why does she say sister SPECIFICALLY diegetically??????
perhaps a leap in logic on my end, but what if susie's guardian figure was an older sister instead of conventional parents? it could explain why she doesn't call anyone when toriel tells her to call her parents to see if she can stay over at the end of chapter 2. (i believe toriel uses the term "mom" specifically, but i dont have a screenshot of the dialog box on hand and i haven't played the game in a bit.) and it could explain why susie is so weird and fixated on toriel, because its not that kris has a loving mother and she doesn't, its that she doesn't have her mom in her life at all (or parents if im wrong about toriel saying mom instead of parents)
i feel fucking insane cus NO ONES talked about why she says this IN CANON and always jumps to ITS DESS ITS DESS ITS ABOUT DESS. like am i missing something or like. whats going on

any strong opinions on amy dallon
Feel like answering this is the equivalent of inviting a vampire into my home.
If this is just asking how I personally feel about Amy Dallon the character: I'd say she's among the strongest characters wildbow has written. She was used exceptionally well throughout Worm; in her initial interactions with Taylor, her smugness and petty insults help convince the reader to doubt the use of hero/villain as absolute markers of moral standing. As it goes on, and we see more of Amy's home situation, it becomes more clear how much Amy's haughtiness towards the villains comes from her insecurity; a desperate attempt to differentiate herself from them so that she can feel more like she belongs with the Dallons. It humanizes the heroes—stopping Ward from becoming a simple palette swap story where all the heroes are ontologically evil and the villains are brave noble freedom fighters—while making the hero/villain conceptual framework seem all the more ridiculous and destructive.
Later, around the same time Taylor is talking to Sabah and Lily about how "hero" and "villain" are just labels that don't determine one's morality, Amy is having the same realization—and panicking about it, because it means that being a hero doesn't mean she can't be the horrible person she fears she is. Because while she's figure out that hero/villain doesn't necessarily have any metaphysical weight, she's still sure that good person/bad person are clear ontological categories. And if being a hero doesn't just mean you're a good person, then she might really be the person her parent's treatment of her implies she is. She might actually be in danger of acting on those troubling thoughts that surely no good person would have.
In terms of her Ward stuff, I haven't gotten to the big things people had problems with so I can't comment too much. I think Ward Amy is effective as a villain in Victoria's story, but all the plot points of her allying with Goddess and taking command of the prisoners make sense only for a character whose the villain of Victoria's story, and don't make sense for Amy as we saw her in Worm. These plot points are working off the "person who thinks in terms of good and evil and is convinced she's evil" thing without addressing how by the end stage of worm, we'd seen her attitude had changed and that she'd started to move towards seeing people as not being inherently anything. Moreover, the writing kind of reaffirms the belief that some people are just bad people. I might not have that critique if there was more framing like "Amy is behaving this way because she's been told by everyone that she's villainous and so is falling into the expected role," but that's not really a thing in Ward. Hell, its less of a thing than it was in Worm.
There are shitty things Ward Amy does that I can get behind and say "yeah Worm Amy would do that," like going along with Carol's reconciliation plan and then running after Victoria when she leaves. Sure, she wants to resolve that, that's consistent with the original motivation of the wretchening incident. But most of the Amy writing after that, nah. I'm sympathetic to the "That's a different character" claims for everything past arc nine or so. That's her Noelle clone or something palling around with Goddess. Have Amy step out of the plot after the Dot interlude and ride off into the sunset, and let WB do a compelling pathetic-yet-very hatable villain with some other character.
If this is about recent intra-fandom stuff:
You can point out how a character is described in kinda racist language, both to criticize the text and to analyze what the story is doing with that character. Don't see how that's controversial, not sure how that got turned into "you're saying she's black". Authors making a white character read as bad or degenerate by describing them as sharing traits with black/brown stereotypes is a pretty common trope historically, its worth noting it when it happens.
And while I can see why people could get inspired by some aspect of how Amy is made to feel like a degenerate, and run with it by depicting her as literally dirty/pest-ridden or writing her with more taboo kinks, I don't think such depictions are beyond criticism. I might defend some of them on the basis of alternate readings of the character. If you're doing something with it, using Amy to explore something you're really interested in—there's at least a discussion to be had, and maybe something interesting would come if it. But you can't meet an honest critique of the ideas in your work, or a claim that they make already bad parts of her original depiction worse, by saying "its just a joke." Its art about Amy, there's gonna be ideas and messaging that goes along with it, even without you meaning to put them in. Don't fight that, embrace it! We'll all be better shitposters if we consider our shitposts worthy of critique.

can you elaborate on your player-angel theory? i'm curious, I haven't seen anyone else talk about this as a possibility
hilariously it's me and matpat. this is the only thing we're aligned on
the angel has been a strongly player aligned figure since Undertale, where its nature changed on either of the major routes to fit either of the two "metaphor for gameplay" characters. deltarune seems to have kicked this into high fucking gear.
the delta rune itself is somewhat telling - a figure above Lightners and Darkners both, beyond both. the light world presents it as a positive figure. very tellingly Alvin's signoff to Kris is "let the Angel's power light your way", which like. that's literally a thing the soul does to banish the dark fountains and also obviously we're. guiding Kris on our chosen way lmao. (in chapter 2 it becomes "may the angel watch over you" which again lmao). meanwhile the prophecy is much more uncertain on it and seems to believe that the angels heaven must be banished - and what would heaven be for us if not the experience of playing Deltarune forever, pursuing any paths we want?
there's a lot of more minor things I could point to. kris in the ch1 walk-around where they get intense or feel strongly abt many player metaphors (the turned off computer, the bead toy) is unsettled by the faceless, unknowable angel doll, in a way they don't seem to have been as a kid (since they made one with huge wings lmao). in unused dialogue (i think?) clover talks abt an angel watching them. there's a lot going on.
and of course, most tellingly - in the route where the player steps in most firmly, exerting itself as a character and influencing Kris and Noelle both, spamton calls one of them (or both of them?) "angel" to their face.

my unorganized deltarune chapters 3 + 4 thoughts (MAJOR spoilers)

soooo... MettaTenna is going to be shipped to hell.
but also METTATON MENTIONED I MISS MY BLORBO TOBY MAKE HIM A BIGGER CHARACTER AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
holy fucking shit rudy you're telling me you MARRIED that bitch???
okay okay i know people said the knight has a katana but to me it looks like a baseball and a bat so maybe i'm crazy but JUST CONSIDER IT
All the outfits were peak and beautiful, i especially loved Kris's cooking one
speaking of Kris hey so i think they need therapy
like a lot
like now
sans's shenanigans were amazing
drunk Toriel? in MY deltarune?
NOT a fan of the mayor everything about her is bad. i hate how she looks, i hate how she talks to her daughter, i hate how she talks to Susie, i hate this bitch and that's honestly a good thing, we haven't had a really terrible character up til now so it's kind of nice to have someone to throw knives of hatred at.
gerson being in the dark world has a lot of implications that i'm not going to get into.
i did love undyne coming in at the very end of chapter 3, from what little we saw she looks awesome.
TENNA YOU CAN'T JUST FUCKING NAME DROP DESS LIKE THAT WHAT THE HELL
love dess's room, she seems incredibly cool
NOELLE EMO PHASE CONFIRMED? EVEN IF IT WAS ONLY FOR CATTI'S ALBUM THING
so many cool new sprites no wonder this game took so goddamn long (not to mention the minigames)
Susie and Kris's friendship moments in this were so adorable
YES we get to see Noelle's house, and goddamn she's rich as FUCK
chapter 4 dark world was so eery i was on edge the whole time
i fucking LOVE Jack if you don't you can fight me
Susie still hasn't said fuck #letsusiesayfuck
Rouxls and Starwalker are bi and poly icons
i feel bad for Ralsei but at the same time i don't fully trust him, like damn bro sorry you're depressed but quit withholding information
also i was really expected Berdly's whole "you. me. festival." to be more impactful but i guess it makes sense that they wouldn't just show it to us early if it were important
Asgore my guy what are you doing hiding in those bushes
still can't believe Among Us is canon to the Deltarune universe
SUSIE LORE???? just small pieces but i eating that shit UP
Kris Kris hey buddy it's gonna be okay please stop ominously making chocolate milk
the scene where Kris plays the piano on their own was beautiful, nothing to add it was fucking stellar
i also love how extra they were this chapter, like whaaaat pirouettes during the cooking segment AND more posing?? still them just standing there while important things are happening is always so funny to me
yeah that's about it for now! really enjoyed this chapters they were awesome, i'm sure i missed a bunch of stuff but it's still perfection ^^
#deltarune#deltarune chapter 3#deltarune chapter 4#this was SO GOOD i'm in awe#tbh this game could've been literally unplayable and i'd still be defending it with my life

New York Romantic .5

Masterlist
a/n: Happy new year everyone! I'm so sorry I've been MIA in recent weeks. I've been going through a depression spell over the holidays, but I'm trying to come out of it. I promise I'll be updating my other stories, slowly but surely as always. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this update!
pairing: Tom Blyth x ballerina!oc
summary: a soft snow day in new york
word count: 5181
taglist: @watercolorskyy @carolanns-world @alana4610
The hallways were relatively quiet, a handful of students were cleaning out their lockers and studio spaces for the winter break. Tom didn't have much in his own locker, just some loose papers and a couple of text books. He wasn't too pressed to notice somebody walking upon him until the lockers thudded and shifted under the weight of someone's shoulder ramming into them. Tom glanced up to find Daniel staring back at him, sharp almond eyes reminding him of a cat with a mouse narrowed in his gaze while sidling up beside him with a disarming smile.
"Hi!" he greeted cheerily.
"Hi," Tom nodded back, "You're... Daniel, right?"
"Yeah! You're an acting major, right?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm Tom," Tom put his hand out for Daniel to shake, though the spindly dancer shrugged him off. Tom didn't think anything of it and continued to sort his things.
"Nice to meet you. I don't wanna be brash right before the break, but I've noticed you've been talking to Noelle quite a bit lately," he said.
The mention of her name caused Tom to pause; he straightened his posture and turned back to the dancer.
"Yeah... she's my neighbour," Tom replied cautiously, sensing an unspoken tension in Daniel's words.
"Do you like her?" Daniel asked.
Tom shrugged back, "Yeah. I mean she's very nice," he replied, itching to get to the point of why Daniel wanted to talk about this.
Daniel's smile faltered, a touch of protectiveness entering his voice. "Look, man, I've had feelings for Noelle for a while now. We're kind of a thing, you know?"
Tom fidgeted uncomfortably. Not once had Noelle, Bianca, or anyone in her circle mentioned that she had a boyfriend, "She's not your girlfriend, though,"
Daniel's expression turned stern, his tone more forceful, "Not officially, but we're getting there. It'd be best if you didn't get too close. Just to avoid misunderstandings,"
Tom hesitated, struggling to articulate his thoughts, "I-I'm just -- I didn't mean to "
Before Tom could finish, Daniel's demeanor stiffened, a hint of displeasure flashing across his features, "You kissed her at Josh's party, didn't you?"
Tom's gaze faltered, "Well, yeah... but it was truth or dare," he shrugged back, discomfort tingling up his spine.
Daniel refrained from scoffing, "Well, next time either pick truth or take the shot. Because you may be all cool with your British accent and your Shakespeare, but I saw her first,"
At that, Tom's discomfort turned to a subtle anger, "I haven't done anything wrong. She's not your girlfriend and she can do as she pleases," he replied.
Daniel was about to rebut when his friends called for him at the end of the hall, "Daniel! You coming?"
Daniel straightened up, his expression firm and his lips feigned a smile, "Just mind your business, man," just to add insult to injury, he reached out and popped the collar of Tom's button-down before sauntering away. Annoyed, Tom adjusted his collar back into place, trying not to glare a hole into the back of the dancer's head.
School was out for the winter, Julliard's halls were empty and students had taken off from the break. Tom woke up two days after school's end and found the city glittering absolutely glittering. Overnight, a gentle blanket of snow had delicately wrapped itself around the towering skyscrapers and bustling streets, transforming the usually hectic urban landscape into a picturesque winter wonderland. The snowflakes continued to gracefully fall from the heavens, painting the cityscape in a pristine coat of white. The delicate snow-covered branches of trees along the sidewalks added a touch of ethereal beauty, creating a breathtaking contrast against the steel and concrete structures. As the city stirred to life, there was a palpable sense of awe and wonder within Tom at the enchanting transformation that was downtown Manhattan.
Sunny had left the day previous, fearful that the snow would hinder his flight to Birmingham, so Tom was left to his own devices in the apartment. Noelle's family was supposed to arrive today as well, just in time for her department showcase in a couple days. Tom hadn't spoken much to her after that party, he wasn't sure what to say -- if he should say anything at all.
He would be lying if he said he hadn't thought back to that kiss, replaying moments in his head as he laid awake in bed. He could still feel the ghost of her soft lips imprinted on his, the tang of her cherry lip balm against his tongue, how easy and natural it felt to have her in his embrace. The giggling and snide comments afterwards didn't phase him so much as his own fears did. It was a dare after all, it wasn't supposed to mean anything.
So why was he still so affected after a few days? And why was Daniel so suddenly possessive of Noelle?
He went about his day as per usual, oatmeal for breakfast and lounging on the couch with Netflix. Despite the heavy snow, he could still hear the cacophony of traffic blaring just outside his window, the pane itself was covered in beautiful, delicate curls of frost. He checked in with his mum as well and she spent about fifteen minutes showing him all the decorations she and his sister had put up. She reiterated that it wouldn't be the same Christmas without him, but as long as he was safe and having fun with friends then she wasn't worried.
And Tom wasn't going to be completely alone, there were a couple friends sticking around in the city he would hang around with; Jordan being one of them. And not to mention he still had Doris' dinner offer on the table if he felt so inclined.
It was peaceful, tranquil, and by the time the early afternoon rolled around Tom was close to falling asleep on the couch. That is until he heard a knocking at his door. Tom figured it might've been Doris checking in, but she would've been hollering for him. And then he heard it:
"Tom? Are you home?" it was Noelle.
Why was she still here? She should've been downtown with her family at this rate. Nevertheless, Tom threw on his slippers and shuffled over to the door, and sure enough he found Noelle standing in the threshold, bundled up in her coat, boots and toque.
"Hey. What're you doing here?" he asked, leaving against the door frame to offset his nerves, "Aren't you supposed to be downtown?"
"I was," she nodded, "But my aunt called and their train got delayed because of the snow and it's a whole mess right now. They're hoping to catch the one tomorrow," she explained, "But I mean -- I was wondering if you had no plans today... do you wanna hang out?"
His anxiety lessened, endeared with her big brown eyes and wistful smile, "Yeah, yeah I'd love to," he replied with a nod, "You're going out somewhere?"
"I'm getting some groceries at Paddy's. Leave it to Bianca to forget to stock up before she left," she chuckled, "I should be back in about thirty minutes, I just wanted to catch you early,"
"Well, how about I come with you?" he offered.
"Oh, it's okay. I'll be fine," she assured.
He scoffed back, "Well maybe, but you shouldn't have to take all your stuff by yourself. Not in this weather, anyway," he replied, "-- I'd feel better coming with you, I mean,"
Noelle pressed her lips together, trying hard to bite back her smile. His own lips held a half purse, his big blue eyes blown as he feigned a pout.
"If you're sure, then yeah! I wouldn't mind the company," she said.
He went to grab his snow boots and coat -- grateful his mum had shipped them over a month early -- and ventured out into the cold alongside Noelle. There was a moment of hesitation in the back of his mind, wondering if he should've taken Daniel's warning more seriously. But on the other hand Noelle wasn't his girlfriend, nor was she Tom's, and if she wanted to hang out with him then who was he to deny her?
If he thought he was cold within his apartment then he would've been laughing, a sharp cold wind immediately nipped at his nose and eyes. The usual walk to Paddy's was a little more chaotic then usual, snow had piled onto the sidewalks as high as mid-shin -- well, for Noelle at least. Tom was bemused as he watched her stomp heavily into the snow banks, almost hopping from foot-to-foot. Despite his entertainment, he offered her his hand, helping guide her along until they came to the already shovelled walkways. Neither of them bothered to unlatch their hands on the stroll over.
Stepping inside Paddy's was scarce with people, two store attendants were shovelling snow out of the entrance while another was struggling with a large bag of melting salts. Tom grabbed a cart and his hands stung at the frigid cold on the hand rail. Nevertheless he planted his foot on the bottom rail and sailed in right past Noelle.
Noelle quickly caught up to the young actor strolling down the baked goods section, having now collected a few necessities. Tom already had thrown in some fruit, vegetables, cereal, a gallon of milk and a bag of pretzels. His eyes were scanning over display case filled with cookies, small cakes, and croissants. They were a pretty decent size, dusted in powdered sugar and appeared flakey and soft. He had asked for two from the bakery attendant just as Noelle had come over with a plethora of goodies in her arms.
"What's all this?" he asked curiously, his eyes skimming over the packet of sausages and box of pancake mix.
"You ever do brunch?" she replied, her eyes glimmering in excitement.
"Not very often," he admitted, his intrigue spiking, "Do you?"
Noelle dropped her items into the cart, sporting a satisfied smirk, "Only when I don't feel like eating instant noodles for the third time in a week," the attendant had just placed the bag of croissants on the countertop for Tom, "What's that?"
"Croissants," he replied simply, "Would they be acceptable for brunch?"
"Is the pope a catholic?" she simpered, "We should get some jam, then -- rasp--"
"Raspberry?" they spoke in sync, bashful grins exchanged in tandem with lithe chuckles and blushing cheeks. Tom placed the croissants in the cart along with the rest of their goodies.
The snow had began to fall again as they trudged back home, hand-in-hand. Neither Tom nor Noelle mentioned it, both silently reassuring themselves that their joined hands were merely for stability on the slippery ground. But as they walked along sidewalks meticulously cleared of snow for easy passage, Tom wondered if that explanation held true at this point.
Nevertheless, Tom did his best to help Noelle as much as he could, keeping shells out of the eggs he cracked and doing his best to avoid grease spatter. Frost curled across the glass window panes, snow continued to pile anew across the cityscape, and yet Tom and Noelle remained safe and warm in their little sanctuary, the tantalizing smell of bacon and sausages wafting through the air while music drifted softly from Noelle's small speaker set up.
There was a jar of open peach jam on the table, to which Tom happily took advantage of to smear across his croissant. Noelle had settled for butter on her own, noting how Tom's face seemed to fall in disappointment after one bite.
"Is it okay?" she asked tentatively.
"Yeah, not as crispy as I'd like it to be," he nodded.
"Probably because it sat in the bag for about an hour," she shrugged back, "Or grocery croissants don't usually tend to match up with the elite bakeries,"
"Probably," he agreed, "But I love them, anyway. My dad used to bring us croissants from this bakery on Saturday mornings -- and I swear to you, they were the most amazing croissants I ever had in my life!"
Noelle grinned, his enthusiasm rubbing off on her as she cradled her chin in her hands, "Most amazing croissants? That's a pretty bold statement, considering where you are," she chuckled back, 'But that's a really sweet memory. I bet he was a really great dad,"
"He was. When I saw him, anyway," Tom nodded, "He was always working on the show, even before my parents separated. But he did his best to make time for us, and every time -- even if we just stayed home and watched movies, we always had a great time," his voice harboured a lilt of sadness, ruminating for the things he missed most. He didn't want his face to betray his feelings in front of Noelle, though it wasn't hard for her to pick off his demeanour change.
Her expression softened, her chest tugging at the shift in his gaze, how his words drifted into nothing. Without a second thought Noelle's hand slid across the small dining table, at first her finger tips simply nudged his, then slipped over them. Tom was brought out of his headspace the second her chilled hand fell over his, so small and dry, but nevertheless her skin was so smooth, carrying a few blemishes in the form of paper cuts and unevenly filed nails.
"He sounds like he was wonderful man," she smiled, "I think I would've loved to have met him,"
He began to relax into her touch, it all felt so natural and cozy, although he began to remember:
"-- you may be all cool with your British accent and your Shakespeare, but I saw her first,"
And with that Tom pulled his hand away. Noelle's smile disappeared.
"I'm -- I'm sorry," he stammered suddenly.
"No, no, I'm sorry," she shook her head, "I didn't mean to overstep --"
"You didn't!" he exclaimed quickly, then brashly scolding himself for raising his voice, "Sorry. I just don't want to..." cross a proverbial line? Get his ass handed to him by a neurodivergent hip hop major?
"You didn't do anything wrong," she assured him, her fingernails began to scratch at the faded wood top, "-- I know we haven't really spoken since the party... but if that kiss made you uncomfortable --"
"Not at all," Tom shook his head, "I mean -- I mean, I knew it was for a dare. I just don't want to put you in any awkward position,"
Noelle cocked a brow, "How do you mean?" she asked.
He was a little uneasy as he blurted out, "... Well, I don't want to put you in an awkward position with Daniel, is all," he replied.
"Daniel?" she nearly scoffed, "What does he have to -- oh God," she sat back in her seat, her eyes rolling, "What did he tell you? That I'm his girlfriend?"
Tom shrugged, "In not so many words,"
She began to snigger, "Oh, he wishes. We went on one date at the beginning of the summer, but we didn't have a spark -- I didn't, anyway. And of course he didn't get the hint. I can't really avoid him because we're on the same floor, so I grin and bear it for a few minutes until I find an out. If he said something to you, I'm really sorry,"
Despite how selfish it may have been, Tom began to feel better knowing that. He too let out a chuckle, "He does seem like he's a little bit in his own world," he said, "You don't have to apologize for him, either,"
"I know. But I promise you he's harmless," she replied, "And he has no right going around to my friends and telling them off, either. I'll handle it,"
"That doesn't seem fair to you," Tom noted, "Have you thought of reporting him?"
"To who? The faculty?" she scoffed back, "What're they gonna' do?"
"Well, something if you report him for harassment," he said.
"Honestly it's not that big a deal," she smiled, hoping to settle his worry, "I'm a big girl, you don't have to worry about me, Tom,"
Tom smiled back, "I never doubted you could handle yourself, but I'm still allowed to worry," feeling cheeky, he reached over with his fork and stabbed into a grape, popping it promptly into his mouth.
Noelle gaped dramatically, then she began to pout like a grumpy child, picking up another grape and hucking it at him, "Stop stealing food from me! I'll fight you!" she cried defiantly. Tom simply laughed as it bounced off his chest.
Not soon after the dishes were placed in the sink and the table was cleaned. The pair settled onto Noelle's couch for another movie, with Tom insisting she could pick the movie this time. She decided on Die Hard -- the truest Christmas movie out there. She had also fetched a bottle of gin, from where Tom wasn't so sure, orange juice, and two glasses.
"Aren't you supposed to be twenty-one to drink here?" he asked, giving her a playful side eye.
Noelle glared back, smirking, "Who are you, my dad?" she quipped back.
"Certainly not," he chuckled, "And if you ever call me such, we'll see what happens to you,"
Noelle rolled her eyes, bumping his gently with her elbow as she poured them drinks, "Okay, okay," and she handed him his glass, " -- how would you feel if I called you 'mom'?"
He paused momentarily before taking a sip, eyeing her up and down as she tried to bite back her growing grin. The moment felt all too uncanny, though Tom had no complaints. His best form of retaliation was to reach over and tousle the top of her hair. Noelle whined and tried to push him away, shaking her hair back into place with one last glower thrown his way. Bear in mind she made no move to slide away from beside him.
The movie started as normal, and both Tom and Noelle had seen it a handful of times over to know how the fallout opens, how the terrorists take control of the building, how McClane shoots at the police car as his only form to get help. So it was any wonder Noelle couldn't find herself to focus.
Tom was -- in not so many words -- hot. Temperature hot. She couldn't deny she found him attractive as well, but his body radiated heat like a human furnace, it was near impossible for her to not want to come in closer. The warmth was taking its toll on her, and she had to wriggle out of her sweater to get some relief.
Her movement struck Tom's attention, he couldn't help but peak out of the corner of his eye. His eyes flitted over her chest, skin tastefully covered by her tank top but he still couldn't help himself. He blushed when he met Noelle's gaze, realizing he'd been caught and grinned bashfully. Noelle shook her head and made a face, diverting her eyes back to the screen but on the inside she had to fight to keep herself together.
Paying attention to the film at this point as near-impossible, Noelle's mind was somewhere else. Specifically focused on her friend; emphasis on friend. Thought nevertheless she noted how much bigger he was then her, slim physique overall but he bore broad shoulders, long legs stretched out in front of him. Tom appeared a little younger then twenty-one and despite that, he was so mature beyond his years. And old soul.
Her brain flickered back to that party, that damn kiss, all the same flustering as it was breath-taking. She hadn't kissed many guys in her twenty-years of course, but she had never been as electrified as she had been when she tasted the whiskey off of his lips.
Noelle sipped her gin and juice, hoping to hydrate her suddenly dry throat. Alan Rickman's character was suddenly commiserating on his first meet with John McClane, and she suddenly had an idea.
She turned to Tom, "Would you rather be the good guy or a bad guy in an action movie?"
Tom chuckled, "Bad guy, obviously. But it depends on what my goal is,"
"Okay then, what would motivate you to take over the world?" she asked.
"Power, of course. But I don't want to be a psychopathic trigger-happy, domineering villain. The good villains are slick, charismatic, and well composed, like this guy," he pointed to Hans Gruber, "That guy is so smooth and so compelling he could sell water to a fish. Lulling you into a false sense of security. I'd be that villain,"
Noelle simpered, "Remind me to stay on your good side if you were to go power hungry,"
"Well, how about you?" he asked, "Hero or villain?"
"Villain, of course," she replied, "I'd be an Ursula-type villain. Or Maleficent. Just bat-shit crazy magical and maniacal, and I'd get to turn into a giant monster if I so please,"
Tom cocked a brow, "You want to grow into a giant sea witch?"
"Well, yeah!" she nodded, "You think I asked to be this short?"
He laughed, shifting away ever so slightly as though she may grow at any instant. Noelle pouted back and crossed her arms; but she couldn't help but smile when he moved back beside her.
Tom couldn't lie, he was still nervous around Noelle, but she always managed to put him at ease. She was so laid back, and after all, it was hard to be intimidated by a beautiful girl when she was comparing herself to campy Disney villains.
As they watched the movie, Noelle's gaze darted to Tom now and again. She flitted over his sharp profile, and his cheeks and nose still held their tinge of soft pink, a delightful contrast against his pale complexion. And the curve of his lips was pure... temptation. The inkling struck her, she wanted to kiss him again, she wanted to kiss him so badly.
God, you're ridiculous, she chided to herself. He only kissed her because Iseul dared him to, that was all. And if Daniel was already giving him flack, chances were he wouldn't want to be wrapped up in that in any way. And who was to say he even found her attractive, for all she knew he had a girlfriend waiting for him back in England.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" she asked suddenly.
Tom nearly choked on his drink, "No," he replied, "Why?"
"I'm just curious," she shrugged back, "... You met anyone you'd consider asking out?"
"In drama? Nah," he shook his head.
"What about outside of drama? The opera majors are gorgeous," she noted, why she was talking about this she wasn't so sure why. She blamed the gin for the most part, though her own inhibitions were playing their part.
Tom smirked at her, "Are you trying to set me up?" he asked suspiciously.
She simpered back, "Uh -- no. I don't do the whole match-making thing. Iseul on the other hand is like a friggin Korean cupid," she shook her head.
"Was that her intention at the party?" he asked, "Trying to set us up?"
Noelle refrained from rolling her eyes, "I don't know. I think she's just sadistic of something. But... if that dare made you uncomfortable,"
"-- It didn't," he assured her, his deep blue eyes meeting hers, "If it had I would've said something. So please, don't worry," he assured her with a grin.
Noelle pouted back, "I'll worry about you if I please," she retorted.
He feigned shock, his hand coming over his chest, "She worries about me, oh my gosh!" he mocked, much to her amusement.
"Don't let it go to your head," she poked at his nose just for good measure.
His nose twitched, his gaze falling over her again in a hot, lingering perusal crackling over her skin like a live wire. This time there was no mistaking the interest in his eyes.
Should she make a move?
Could she cross that line again?
Lean in closer, ask if she could kiss him, or better yet ask if he could kiss her. She was so wrapped up in her own thoughts she hadn't even realized the credits playing over the screen.
"Do you want me to go?" he asked.
His posh voice startled her, and she realized she hadn't made a move to turn off the movie.
"No, I mean -- you're more then welcome to stay. If you can handle putting up with me any longer," she tried to joke. But it was reigning true, she didn't want him to leave.
Tom grinned bashfully, "As horrible as that sounds, I'll try to pull through," he replied.
"But if you're tired --" she began, "I don't mind if you want to --"
"I'm fine," he nodded, "If you don't mind having me over, that is," he found it odd how suddenly she seemed so nervous, perhaps he ought to take that as a good sign?
"I don't mind at all," she replied, "I like having you around. It's your turn to pick, anyway,"
She likes having me around, he hoped his face wouldn't betray how his chest swelled, the heat in his body suddenly elevated, "How about Elf?"
Suffice to say, another movie turned into another, and then another, and before neither of them could realize they had fallen asleep on the couch, curled up together as the snow continued to fall over the city.
All was quiet, peacefully so as the sun broke out over the Eastern horizon. The snow stopped at some point during the night, glimmering in sun rays like millions of Swarovski crystals bejewelling the skyscrapers and cars. And in that tiny apartment Tom and Noelle slept soundly, cozied up with arms wrapped the other, the laptop screen having gone black hours ago.
As the light peaked through the curtains, Tom couldn't help but begin to stir, blinking sleep from his eyes as he realized he wasn't in his apartment. The previous night came rushing back in a flood, and if he were more awake he may have jumped to find Noelle swathed in his arms. Though she continued to sleep, her button nose buried in his chest and her lashes fluttering as she continued to dream. He wondered what she dreamed about, if she enjoyed her dreams or if she slipped into a thick state of time-stopping nothingness.
It was Sunday, there was nowhere for them to be, no need to get up, no need nor want to move from that very position. The wall clock, though a few minutes ahead, indicated it was somewhere around nine. He wondered if her asking about his dating life was a ploy, or sheepish way in to test his interest.
Tom settled back into the couch, cradling her close to him, pretending for a moment that maybe, just maybe, this could've been his life; their life.. His eyes slipped shut and he inhaled sharply, unable to help but smile as Noelle wriggled to get comfy against him. He too would've fallen back to sleep, if not for the sudden knocking on the door.
Tom thought he was imagining things at first, but sure enough there was another knock. Perhaps it was Doris? Or Bianca? No, Bianca was out of the city and she had her own key anyhow. Nevertheless, Tom didn't feel it was right to answer Noelle's door.
As much as he hated to wake her, he nudged her gently, whispering her name until she too came to consciousness. Her head lulled from side to side, taking stock of the mess on her coffee table, the mess they were on her couch. She rubbed sleep from her eye as she yawned.
"What's up?" she grumbled groggily.
"I'm sorry to wake you, but there's someone at the door," he mumbled.
The seemed to light a small fire under her, she sat up promptly and did a quick stretch, "Maybe Doris wants to collect rent before Christmas?"
"Is she allowed to do that?" he asked, his eyes never leaving her as she started for the door.
"Probably not, but she's also not supposed to be splicing cable from her neighbours and yet..." shuffling in her fuzzy socks, Noelle pressed up on her toes as she peered wearily through the key hole. Who she saw on the other side made her heart stop, "Holy shit!"
"Who is it?" Tom asked, vividly more awake now. The knocking continued.
"I'm coming!" she then turned to him, sheer panic befalling her face and she clawed her fingers through her hair, "Put the gin bottle behind my bedroom door and smooth out your shirt. You got here ten minutes ago and we're trying to decide where to go for breakfast,"
"-- What?"
"Just trust me! Go!" she waved him off. Tom didn't argue, snatched the gin bottle and glasses for good measure. He disappeared down the hall, figuring the open door was Noelle's bedroom.
Slipping the glassware behind the door, he paused momentarily to take a glance around her room. It was a small space, soft grey sheets and pillows were messed and unmade with a few clothes sitting untouched overtop. Papers and books were stacked and scattered across her little white desk, and Ikea special from the looks of it. There was a clothing rack of clothes hung up, a few more folded and sitting next to the line of the three pairs of shoes she owned that weren't ballet related.
Tom froze suddenly when he heard a loud exclamation from the door, "Surprise!"
Smoothing out his shirt wrinkles and tousling his hair, Tom wandered back into the main area of Noelle's apartment, finding her embraced by an older couple and another young girl. The older gent was bringing the suitcases into the apartment while the young girl was trying to upkeep some conversation with Noelle through the older woman's fawning and preening.
"What're you guys doing here? I thought your train wasn't coming until later?" Noelle gaped.
"We were able to get a late train last night, it just missed the snow storm coming in!" the older woman exclaimed.
"And checkin's not until eleven so we thought we'd swing by and surprise you!" the older man added.
Tom stood in the mouth of the hallway momentarily, just watching, bemused and taken with who he assumed was Noelle's family. The young girl suddenly turned, just to take a look around the space at first when her gaze fell on top. She nearly jumped out of her nikes.
"The hell are you?" she snapped, prompting the other's attention to turn to him. The fawning and happy reunions came to a sudden halt, with Noelle slipping out of the woman's grasp to get everyone acquainted.
"Uh -- right. Sorry, um -- this is Tom. He's my friend from school," she introduced, smiling assuringly at him, "Tom, this is my Aunt Franca, my Uncle Maurice, and my cousin Chiara,"

BLACK CLOVER BROTHER TIER LIST!!!
This is really chaotic
Also it's my opinion, if you disagree that's totally fine, but you won't change my mind
So starting from the bottom, the D tier, we obviously have Solid, only started respecting his younger sister after it turned out she's much stronger than him and saved their whole family, bullied her before and was a bitch. He may have a neutral/decent relationship with his other siblings but that's because they were also bitches to Noelle
Langris is in the D tier too for obvious reasons, like sorry, but that's true. Maybe bro changed later, maybe he even held hands with his brother and fought by his side later, but that's only because Finral was a good brother to him, so fuck Langris
In the C tier we have Nozel. AND DON'T TRY TO CHANGE MY MIND. I get that he couldn't tell anyone about the curse, but what's that gotta do with letting his younger siblings THAT HE HAS POWER OVER bully Noelle??? AND JOINING THEM?????? Bro said he wanted to protect her, but than didn't protect her from her own family who she should feel safe with. No one can make me like you, Nozel Silva. Byakuya Kuchiki did it better.
I also placed Baro in the C tier, maybe because I don't really remember this arc, but I think he wasn't a good brother? But I wouldn't say he was the worst. I DON'T REMEMBER, SORRY.
Now we're starting with the B tier, which is a tier for people who are brothers but I can't really rate them? Maybe they didn't act really 'brotherly'??
(I know that now you're probably scared because you haven't seen a certain someone, but bear with me please)
We're starting this tier with Gordon, Gordon has a younger sister, they seem to like eachother, are really similar and that's all we know. So he's in the middle.
Next we have Neige who I also may not remember but he listened to and trusted his brother, so idk what to do with him, but I won't just ignore him here 🙄🙄 Kay, next
Kiato. Once again, him and Kahono have a close relationship, but we can't really say something about what kind of brother he is from that, maybe they just get along well. So middle tier for him.
Next is Kirsch. The guy is a beauty obsessed narcissist and Mimosa doesn't like him, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad brother?? And even tho I didn't pay much attention to him I don't think we see him interact with his sister much?? And that's the reasoning behind this
Than we have Lumier, who's also a brother even tho I almost forgot (I keep forgetting who's sister Tetia was 💀). And I mean we either saw him with Licht, or Licht with Tetia during the flashbacks so we can't say much about his skills in being a brother, they just had a good relationship
And last in this tier we have the Zogratis brothers, Dante and Zenon. Well they are bad people, but it doesn't mean they're bad brothers. Once again. IDK WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THEM, NEXT TIER
This tier is special.
It's the Gauche tier.
Putting aside the way he acts and reacts to his sister, he might be too obsessive about her, like not letting Asta talk to her, howEVER, THE WAY HE GAVE HER A MIRROR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR COMMUNICATION BUT ACTUALLY IT'S ALSO TO PROTECT HER?? THIS IS SO CUTE, COME ON.
Every time I think about them I curse Tabata that he made Gauche the way he is because if he didn't have those disgusting reactions to her I woul probably love his character.
HE WOULD LITERALLY BE THE TYPE OF BROTHER WHO'S COLD TO EVERYONE BUT HIS LITTLE SISTER, THAT'S CUTE, GUYS
We also have two honorable mentions, and those are one, Magna Swi-
NO IT'S NOT JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO INCLUDE HIM, THIS GUY IS SUCH AN OLDER BROTHER MATERIAL TO NOELLE AND ASTA IT'S CRAZY
It's one of the reasons I love him 😞😞
The other honorable mention is Klaus, Klaus is also older brother material for many (like four kids at best), love him
Moving on to the A tier, starting with a questionable choice that is Asta and Yuno.
Maybe they're not really brothers, but they are brothers to me. They irritate eachother any chance they get but at the same time we can see that they are really invested in the rivaly, like most of the times if not all we see Yuno smile is when he's talking to Asta, they're so brothers, THEY SHARE A BIRTHDAY
Next we have (manga spoiler) Nacht who I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT BECAUSE HE WASN'T IN THE TIER LOST I MADE TO PREPARE MYSELF??? But he goes to the A tier because yeah. I don't like this guy, but his backstory with his brother is so sad AND THE WAY THEY COMPERED NACHT AFTER MORGEN'S DEATH TO NIGHT WITHOUT A MORNING KILLS ME. HE LOVED HIS BROTHER SO MUCH, I CAN'T :((
Another manga spoiler, but my dearest Yami Sukehiro???
BRO WAS A GREAT BROTHER, HE TOOK ICHIKA FISHING AND AWAY FROM THEIR FATHER
Too bad Ichika saw him as the worst man alive later 😀😀 CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO INTERACT IN THE UPCOMING CHAPTERS
(end of manga spoilers)
We also have Fuegoleon in the A tier, because we can see that Leo admires him a lot and we can also see that Fuegoleon cares.
When it comes to him being Mereoleona's brother however-
I meam he's the victim of having an older sister I guess, bro had to fight for his life- (I love Mereoleona sm)
Leo's also in the A tier, like come on, he cares so much IDK WHAT TO SAY IT'S 11 PM SORRY, BUT HE DESERVES THE SPOT.
Now moving to S tier!!!!
We have three characters here
One of them iss
En
En Ringard who appeared in likeee
Idk, not many episodes, but he was so brother that he brothered kids that weren't his siblings
Also insulted Solid, so good job 🥰🥰
Second in the S tier is (manga spoiler) Morgen (almost forgot about him too even tho I'm literally after writing about Nacht???) BRO LITERALLY SACRIFICED HIMSELF FOR HIS BROTHER, NO BETTER WAY TO SHOW HIS LOVE FOR HIM IMO, MORGEN AND NACHT MAKE ME SAD SOMETIMES, I HATE HOW THEY HAVE TO FIGHT BECAUSE OF THAT BITCHASS LUCIUS
(end of manga spoiler)
And the third one is Finral
Finral's only mistake as a brother was leaving, so I still think he deserves a S tier in his brothering skills
Finral never hated Langris even tho that bitch was mean as hell, FINRAL WENT AND SAVED LANGRIS POSSESSED BY AN ELF AFTER HE HOLED HIM??? ONE OF MY FAV FINRAL MOMENT IN THE WHOLE ANIME, I LOVE HOW THEY BOTH PASSED OUT AND HELD HANDS, I LOVE FICTIONAL SIBLINGS AGHHHHHHHHHH
That's it, thanks for reading this bullshit with possible mistakes, typos, and grammatically incorrect sentences. Also possible information I watched this shit one year ago.
Tier list in case someone forgot:
S: Finral, En, Morgen
A: Fuegoleon, Leopold, Nacht, Yami, Asta, Yuno
Honorable mentions: Magna and Klaus

OH HEY UEAH DELAYED DELTARUNE NEWSLETTER THEORIZING BECAUSE I FORGOT TO MAKE THIS POST WHEN IT CAME OUT.

so I keep seeing people talk about this piece of dialogue from dess and how cute and sad it is that she has her own nickname for noelle, and I'm shocked I haven't seen anybody point out the actual thematic importance of nicknames to dess??? dess, the character who very notably has never been referred to by her full name, has her own nickname for noelle. that feels important to me! the name "december" has been lost, and it seems like the name "elly" has gone along with it. what does that mean? I don't know! but it's been rattling around in my head non-stop for the past few days. y'know, come to think of it... "rudy" is a nickname, too. we only know his name is actually "rudolph" from his hospital chart, and I don't think it's been said aloud at all (granted, there's also been much less opportunity to drop a rudolph in conversation compared to a december). all three currently named members of the holiday family have very circumstantially used nicknames. I don't know what conclusion to draw from that, but it feels very intentional to me and i'm definitely gonna be on the lookout for that in future chapters now.
#if i'm wrong about the rudy thing let me know#hard to fact check something like that so i wouldn't be surprised if i missed abother rudolph somrwhere#deltarune#dess deltarune#noelle deltarune#dess holiday#noelle holiday#koolmathgames.com

ok so little fact about me, I don't really ship a lot of characters really intensely in shows and movies
but when I do
I get very, very crazy about it
funnily enough all of these couples and WLW couples, which I have lovingly decided to call "my lesbians"
so in honor of pride month you all have to hear about them here's the list in no particular order
#1 Cleo + frida kahlo (clone high)
- beautiful, no words
-the are really funny, like this ship was so left field for me but they became my favorite part of this entire show so quickly
- I just love their dynamic of tall pretty woman and little gremlin who's obsessed with her, but fridas also the chill one in this instance and Cleo is the freak
- they are the calm in whatever the fuck is going on with the rest of clone high
#2 Megan + graham ( but I'm a cheerleader)

- if you have not watched this movie please do holy shit
- it's just ??? so sweet ??? opposites attract kinda dynamic, sweet girl just realizing she's gay, and veteran lesbian who acts all mean cause she's too scared of letting anyone close to her again
- this movie is phenomenal and so funny, and they make me cry every time
#3 elodie + Enid ( ok KO)
- I will never stop talking about them
- they walked so questioning lesbians everywhere could have an intense all consuming slightly gay relationship with their best friends and then the friendship explode and they never speak again
- I am so a sucker for childhood friends to enemies to friends again to lovers
- they are canon in my heart
- LOOK AT HOW GAY THEY ARE OH MY GOD AHAHAAHAAA-
#4 luz + amity (the owl house)

- mandatory lumity posting
- their just too cute and sweet, and I love crazy optimist brings the sheltered A+ mean girl out of her shell
- you can probably sense a pattern with my opposites attract thing
- I just love a power couple who balance each other out
#5 Susie + Noelle (deltarune)
-these little freaks
-noelle being obsessed but also so damn nervous is so cute
-susie is so fucking stupid oh my god
- again, opposite attract, but this time it's dumbass chalk eater (yeah) and the straight A student who is smitten
- I love them your honor they need to be happy or I will explode
#6 and final pairing, rei + Hanna ( not so shoujo love story)
- ok if you haven't read this webtoon, please do oh my god
- it's mostly comedy focused but like
- THE ROMANCE
- Hanna is so fucking crazy, and so is rei but in the opposite direction
- everyone in this series is fucking insane
- their friendship is so funny, and like, the slow burn as you watch the feelings get caught is immaculate
- please read it I'm begging you I need more people to talk about this with, even if romance is not your thing, the characters are so funny it won't matter
OK so that's it, those are my lesbians. I'm sorry this post is so crazy long but I needed to scream this into the void, thank you for your time, and feel free to add your own lesbians if you have them!

ramble about noelle. now. no choice. now.
I mean it's 6:30 am for me and I'm at the point in the all-nighter where I might just pass out so... of course I will!
She's honestly probably my second favorite character. (First is Berdly my favorite boyfailure) Like yeah Kris is cool and all but first Noelle's design is just so good. I note this in some of my older drawings that I haven't posted but her design can very easily be adjusted to echo the Delta Rune - the horns can mimic the wings, and I give her three freckles on each side and then her nose is prominent to be the three triangles. Make her face more heart shaped instead of oblong and boom! Delta Rune face!
Second the Snowgrave Route has me by a chokehold and always has. I have an au that plays with it but I really wish I had leaned harder into her being manipulated because her whole headspace in that route is so fascinating to my angsty little heart. She suffers and I'm here for it.
In all seriousness, though, I like looking at her through the lens of her being expected to know everything and have it all together when she's thrust into this strange world with no preparation and no prior experience. As the player, you're handed control of her mental state. In a normal route, you help her be more confident in all encounters, help her learn how to navigate social situations more easily and let her embrace silliness similar to how you help Berdly. In the Snowgrave Route, you teach her to black out and do horrible things. You tell her to give all her control to you and she does, but it ends up making her terrified of giving up control because she doesn't want to hurt people, doesn't want the shutdown and blankness that comes with her giving over control.
Side tangent, that leads into Kris Noelle parallels! In the Snowgrave Route, you force Noelle to give over control and, at least in my opinion, it makes her act a lot like Kris in some ways once you leave the Dark World. She's quieter, seems to carry herself differently, is more defensive and possessive. She's terrified of giving up control. At the same time, she's also still acting in ways you've taught her to. Reminds me a little of certain Kris behaviors/headcanons - they're very possessive of Susie at times, and I personally love to headcanon Kris as having no filter when the soul isn't possessing them because they're so used to having a forced filter. Truth be told, any parallels here are mostly conjecture because Kris can't act super independently, but i do enjoy thinking of them as playing up their weirdest quirks to still be themself, which I just love.
Another thing involving Kris - I'm very decidedly neutral on Kriselle (at least normal Kriselle, Snowgrave toxic fucked up Kriselle is my shit) but I love looking at Kris and Noelle's relationship platonically. Estranged best friends who still care for each other but don't know how to anymore. Kris playing Noelle's piano means so much to me you don't even know. I want to make a young Noelle design so I can draw her listening to them play. They both mean so much to me as friends who want to reconnect but can't. Pulled apart by the same connections that once pulled them together (Asriel and Dess). There's so much there and it makes me feel things I'm just now delirious enough to express.
Okay Kris-related tangent over they can go back to their moss corner now. Let's talk about Noelle and gifted kid burnout! Because she is going to hit it so hard honestly. Bear with me since it's been a while since I've seen a playthrough and I'm about to ho into the arguably more "pay attention or you die" part of the game that I never paid attention during so I might get stuff wrong.
If I recall correctly Noelle's actively a star student. Doesn't seem like she struggles too much, either. She's a great student - always answers questions, always gets good grades, etc. I've seen a lot of takes with her mom pressuring her to study constantly, which is a good take, don't get me wrong! I just find her more interesting - to me - if she's coasting through without trying, because if she's anything like me when I was in middle/high school, she knows a huge burnout is coming. She can tell she's starting to have to care about little and she's about to crash and burn so hard. Imagine having paralyzing anxiety and also knowing you're about to hit gifted kid burnout lol (<- the words of a man who was like that a year ago. Now I just have the burnout proper!)
Her relationship with Susie is fascinating to me too. Have you seen that meme of Timmy Turner from Fairly Oddparents (i think that's who it is) praying going "please God let this happen it would be so fucking funny" except "this" is "suselle not be canon"? Because I unironically love that from a writing standpoint. I am a Suselle shipper through and through but honestly I think they have a lot of potential outside of it being canon. I love the idea of Noelle struggling to get over her crush and failing. Their relationship warping into new, unseen flavors of gay pining. Something just west of queer-platonic, where it's inherently romantic but neither is able to acknowledge it as such. Nothing actively toxic, just Noelle begging for Susie to hold her hand so hard it hurts - partially because sign of affection and partially because Noelle has a pattern of wanting Susie to hurt her which I could unpack but would have to at least touch on topics I don't really feel comfortable infodumping about in this otherwise sfw post at - wait it's already 7:30? So that's enough Susie and Noelle for now! Although I still think they should go on gay little dates.
Is it Kris tangent part 2 if it's Player tangent? Because Player tangent time! Mostly a bunch of points i touched on in Kris tangent. You can control her a lot. Ruin her psyche forever etc etc. This is honestly my Snowgrave Kriselle toxic mess tangent because let's be real, it isn't even Kriselle. It's not Kris x Noelle. It's Player x Noelle. You manipulate her and break her and make her scared and dependent on you and then you give her a Thorn Ring and she bleeds and gets stronger through pain and the whole time she is forced to do whatever you want and I. I just. There's so much symbolism there and it's so pretty. (Which leads into my catholic guilt tangent later which is already written but I might as well add to it.) So messed up. A part of my Gravity Falls infected brain wants to say "it's a little Billford" because I know you would understand what I mean. So I will! Snowgrave Kriselle is sorta Billford with more catholic guilt to me. Like Noelle's like "ah my best friend Kris! :) We've grown apart recently but I trust them implicitly and will not consider what they want me to do! :D Oh no, they betrayed me? :( That's not good. I'll just back out now- what do you mean the religious iconography built directly into our relationship means I am directly tied to them and they're allowed to order me as they choose while I am forced to listen because I am simply a servant of our God figure who is controlling Kris. What do you mean there's catholic guilt woven into my bones and I cannot escape because my whole situation is extremely easy to see as a metaphor for religious trauma. Stop it. Stop making my symbolism indicative of real-life situations I don't want you be trapped because of the guilt and shame associated with leaving being so intense and ingrained into my character that I can't leave. D:"
Also, taking a deeper look at the Angel iconography surrounding her? The robes and the Thorn Ring and the everything? Oh yeah, I could write some religious trauma into that girl. (Well I already did because I wrote this out of order and my religious trauma rant got out of hand.) Bonus points because she's canonically queer - bless you Toby Fox writing lesbians into everything you touch - and double bonus points if you headcanon her trans! Imagine having your religion held against you to make you hate yourself as you just try to live and then also you go to a terrifying magic world and also get kidnapped while dressed like the icon that's used to guilt trip you into thinking you're irredeemable. So terrifying and fascinating I could just blend her in the Blorbo Blender. Trademark.
And Snowgrave Route? Whooooo the catholic guilt metaphor is strong with this one! I already mentioned the Thorn Ring - a reference to crucifixion and the crown of thorns? Not sure, I never got that far in the Bible (wasn't raised religious but was forced to read the Bible as punishment once or twice). She gives herself over to a sort of savior, a godlike figure, Kris. Something something parallels between Kris and Chara/Frisk Undertale means parallels between Kris and the Angel that the Undertale children represent and therefore Kris can be regarded as a sort of messiah like figure in accordance to that and therefore Noelle gives herself over to a messiah (Kris) and suffers because of it. Not even overtly. Kris never hurt anyone else. They only hurt her. And really, they made her stronger. Sure they guilt her into killing a non-believer (Berdly), but they also make her stronger, stronger than they could ever be. She's now reliant on them and a wreck without them, but they pulled her out of one of the worst times of her life - heedless of the pain they inflicted on her - and they haven't ruined Susie. Isn't it her fault they hurt her? Did she not devote herself enough? Did she make a mistake somehow? Some small, imperceptible slight against them? Or maybe she simply isn't strong enough to receive their wisdom and she's paying the price of not being enough for them? Not being worthy of her messiah's "unconditional" love? Angel, she got enough of this in the Light World, now she's got two entities breathing down her neck. Extra powerful as a metaphor for religious trauma when you consider Kris as being functionally more of a prophet and yourself as the god in this situation. Because like. You are. If I ever write this into a fic I might just tag you if you're chill with it because I loved the catholic guilt rants so much.
It's been an hour and a half and I am on my phone and my finger hurts because phone evil wants to eat me and also I am running out of perfect haven't-slept-in-over-18-hours clarity so I'm going to. Probably brainrot over my newest obsession in the stupidest way possible. Maybe eat breakfast in an hour because I will evaporate without coffee and it's 7 am anyways. Thank you for an excuse to do this lol I love Noelle so so so much and I don't think about her enough. I'd like to stress i did nothing but write this, with a small break to draw the Noelle enclosed. Anyways I have like. Ten(?) Deltarune fics, about there, maybe more maybe less, not sure and not opening another ao3 tab to check right now. If you wanna check my fics out my user is the same there and also my ao3's linked in my pinned. Frozen Tears is my Noelle centric AU but I might rewrite it because wow I forgot how much I loved Noelle and. Kinda hated writing that fic. All my favorite details of the comic (because it was a comic first, made when my style first turned to what it is now) get lost which is a shame. I was so proud of the single panel of Kris's wallet.

Anyways here's a shitty Noelle for your troubles. Every time I draw her I do it differently I swear and also I haven't drawn her in like. Six months. So.
Fun fact my Tumblr didn't want me to post this post! So it was finished yesterday and it's early so I'm not editing it to remove the time markers

If you did not notice yet, this entire account is litterally a response to SullyTheLightnerd's opinion on Krusie (for the love of GOD don't harrass him, it's just a game), which he thinks is a boring, unoriginal MxF-like ship, that had no actual buildup in the game, and that Toby Fox avoided an annoying, dull trope by favouring Suselle. So, I made some posts about Kris' views on Susie to make a better counterargument to this. But if you want a more personal respones, here goes: I don't think he knows what he's talking about. This is a big claim, but I believe he doesn't understand why certain tropes are the way they are. That isn't without counting the fact that classmate x reformed bully isn't exactly common, and Suselle is full of tropes, even though that's not necessarely a bad thing.
In reddit he gave a bit more detailed explanation for his distaste, and it was that Kris ending up with any of the other party members would ruing his immersion because character x best friend was an annoying overdone trope. Basically what I just said, but slightly more specific.
To his hatred towards the trope, I must ask this: what? If we lived in a world were characters could NEVER have a crush on people close to them, these romance plots would often, but not always, end up REALLY shallow, and depending of the story, might even butcher it's own potential. The reason why this trope happens in the first place is to give that ship weight, to emphatize how much these people care, LOVE each other. And even then, Kris and Susie were anything but best friends at the start of the game.
The other part, about Krusie being First "boy" x first girl ship. Yeah, i know it seems like another overdone trope, but it makes a lot of sense WHY it happens so much, because they're the characters that have interacted and GROWN with each other the most. This isn't a norm, but it's something that happens a lot, which means that perhaps, if one of these characters ends up with another character, this ship might not have as much ground, or even feel disatisfying, because they haven't had as much development, if any. On a related note, if Kris was a girl, then this wouldn't really be a problem, no? Therefore, the only problem here is Kris' gender, and if we're deciding if Krusie is goog or not based on gender, then I don't know what to tell you. If Noelle was in Kris' place, and with a different gender, would Suselle no be as good of a ship as before? It would be the same thing, with MORE development, but with different gender. So take that as you will.
All in all, I don't wish any harm towards Sully, and I made a promise to myself to not be bitchy about this, as to not emulate that terrible response video from Kooki and Shadowhaxxer to Jaru about Ralsei. I hope I delivered. I'm still thinking about Krusie part 3, which will talk about Susie specifically. Take care❤️

ok thoughts on the characters so far like midway thru chapter two
kris: pretty ambivalent. creepy as hell, even before the heart ripping out scene. according to my friend they will end up being pretty interesting
susie: love, my exact kind of character that I'm drawn to, shes cool and epic and I wanna learn more about her and why she is like that, I'm guessing some sort of rough home life, from her comment about Kris"having a good mom", got really invested really fast, cool to see her deciding being a hero is ass and for losers, only end up getting attached to the little guy on the evil team (feelings other than anger and hatred? uh oh). much more compelling having someone who gets her be the one to kickstart that development, better choice than just having Kris and ralsei win her over themselves
ralsei: love. so so so so so so so so cuteeeeeee<3 not a huge amount of character depth yet but I can definitely see hints of it yet to come, but shes very sweet and lovely and impossible not to like, really curious as to why she looks so much like asriel. my friend said maybe she IS Asriel, I don't believe her, because it ralsei was Asriel Kris wouldve surely had a reaction, plus ralsei clearly has a bit of a crush on Kris, don't think Mr fox would do that if they were siblings
lancer: liked him quite a lot, funny as hell, that prison scene with Susie omgggg, I really liked his friendship with Susie it was cool to see him slowly break her out of his shell in his funny little ""evil"" way
noelle: I like her, haven't quite got invested in her yet, but shes cool enough, she deserves to kill berdly Jesus fucking Christ, definitely has a major sorta people pleaser complex, her dads like, in hospital? I wonder what affect that has on her....will be cool to see where her thing for Susie goes hehe....they'd balance each other out nicely, berdly hits on Noelle in his creepy way and Susie just bites his face off that would rock. also apparently there's some kind of "weird" route involving her?
queen: shes a lot of fun, also just as terrible as lancer at actually villain-ing (girl you cannot just get drunk and call trucies) the way she talks reminds me of kanaya which is awesome. like not just the capitalization and lack of punctuation, but also how she speaks oddly formal usually and then occasioanlly drops that and makes a fun contrast. dunno how shes gonna actually be proper evil, so presumably we'll have a different person for the boss fight, like last chapter
berdly:
#I know he's gonna get some character depth or wtv but you cant make me care about him#just as Susie is the exact type of character I love#berdly is the exact type of character I hate#sorry berdly fans nothing against you#he is probably a decent character he's serving his place in the narrative#but please get a scene where Noelle turns him down or like Susie beats his ass#evie post

I had a very nice Easter. I feel happy.
Last night was a little hard. With my whole body aching for no reason plus I was just so overheated? I could not get comfortable at all. Even with the fan blowing. We had Sylvie in less clothing then normal just to keep her comfortable. And thankfully she would sleep really well overall. And I was able to get a few hours in before she fussed at 130. Then I fed her and went to sleep. James took over at 3. And I slept alright after that, even if I kept waking up sweaty.
When I woke up for real at 9 I was alright. I sent some happy Easter texts. And got dressed. I felt really pretty today.
James made me mini chocolate chip pancakes. And I enjoyed those in my studio.
Sylvie looked so cute in her Easter outfit. And after I took some time to pick up the downstairs so it looked nice for guests, I took baby outside to take pictures. Which went pretty well but she wouldn't open her eyes all the way when we were outside. To bright. So I got lots of funny squished face shots. And then a few of me and James and baby together. And I was feeling really happy.
James had been inside baking and making things all morning. And we were just having a good day. Eventually moving outside to sit on the porch swing together. I had Sylvie in her chair with an umbrella for a while. She had a good grip on it at times. And Sweetp was playing with the Velcro tie and making the umbrella spin which was very funny.
Eventually though James got a call. From Evan and Noelle! They were here!!
It took us a second to get up with baby safely from the porch swing. But soon I was letting them in. I was so excited to see them.
And we have a lovely day. I wish they could have stayed the night. I just enjoy their company so much. But a few hours is still an amazing treat.
They brought some gifts for baby. A chick plushie and a bunny rattle. Very Easter. But they were just thrilled to see our baby. And I was just happy to talk about her.
I did feel weird at times today. My head was super foggy but in an almost nice way. Like it felt dreamlike. I was just having the best time but I wasn't always 100% sure everything was real. I have no idea why that happened except maybe exhaustion? I didn't feel particularly tired, but it was strange.
It didn't last to long though and I was mostly just having a good day. Evan and Noelle were just marveling over our little baby Sylvia was mainly chill but there were a few fussy times. Hungry. A little uncomfortable. A little overwhelmed probably by all the attention. But she was calm enough for them to hold her for a little while.
We would show them our plants in the backyard. And we were all just having a good time. It was getting close to time for Sylvia bottle but in the mean time we decided to go on an Easter walk and get ice cream. I was sure it would be open but James said it would be and they were right!
I was also just thrilled to show them our neighborhood and point out some of the beautiful things near us. Houses and trees and the pagoda. We looked up some of the champion trees to point out too.
And then we had our ice cream. It was busy but not terribly so. I got birthday cake ice cream which I haven't had since maybe highschool. Evan and Noelle both got banana pudding flavor. James got a coconut chocolate cookie one. It was all fantastic.
We walked back to the park and found some downed logs to sit on. And it was fun. It was an absolutely beautiful day. We were near the pond. There were people out having fun and taking pictures on their nice outfits. It was honestly just a lovely day.
We would run into someone I know from creative alliance and chatted with her for a minute. It was nice to see a familiar face, even if it took me a second to place where I knew it from. We wished her a good day and continued our walk.
Sylvia got a little fussy and so James switched to wearing the carrier rather then just having her hanging in the stroller. Both are great but she always falls asleep in the carrier.
And when we got home we were ready to feed her. And we all just sat around and talked. And I had a snack. Evan and Noelle got more baby holding time.
But she was fussing. And so eventually, after checking the list of needs being met (temperature, hunger, ECT ) we decided that the need was "be held by mommy" and that worked right away.
So I held my baby and was happy. I was happy to be hanging with friends. With people so important to James. With James! It was a beautiful Sunday.
But all things must end. And soon they were heading home. With promises to come down again soon, to keep seeing her grow. And I promised to send more pictures. I'll add them to my growing list of people I send photos too. Sometimes it's just nice to have an excuse to hear people say how beautiful she is.
After they left me and James would take a little time to chill. I sat outside for a little. Brought Crabcake, who had been enjoying his outside enclosure, inside. Played with sweetp. Had a late lunch/early dinner.
Eventually we would watch some of our show. And just rest together on the couch. It was a good day.
I am a little to warm again. But James installed the AC in the living room again. And I think we will get the bedroom one in too? We have to move the bed for that and it's sort of a production. So that might be a tomorrow thing.
Tomorrow we are also meeting the Fulwilers for a midday Easter Monday. So I have another very cute spring look for our baby. It is not going to be as warm but still should be really nice.
I hope you all had a nice Easter, or just a nice Sunday. Be safe out there. Goodnight!
