✦ sheep!reader loves the outdoors, and is usually found basking under the sun as they daydream or running around the grassy plains as they chase butterflies. However, they value the company and prefer to spend their time with others, thriving in groups rather than in their solitude.

✦ sheep!reader is kind in their nature, and would do anything for their loved ones. They also like to show their affection physically, always ready to give a warm hug to someone who needs it, or shower their significant other with pretty little kisses all over their face.

✦ sheep!reader is, however, oblivious to the evil in others. They trust those they love, and want to fit in so desperately that they're easy to mold- easy to manipulate. They like to see the good in others, but often forget that evil also exists.

✦ sheep!reader, who is easily spooked or surprised. They feel squeamish at the sight of a single drop of blood and shiver in fear when they hear a strange sound. Though they'll often try to mask it underneath an awkward close-mouthed smile or giggle. If you ask them to watch a true-crime show with you, they'll still accept even if they don't want to deep inside.

✦ sheep!reader, who likes to do arts and crafts in their free time. They're dreamers and like to put their creativity into something of their own, such as their own plushies, clothing, diy home decorations and many more.

✦ sheep!reader, who likes collecting vintage items like precious moments figurines, vinyl, and even fabrics. Their song library is also full of old songs and classical music, not having a liking for rap, rock and metal music. They listen to their music either on their iPod or record player. Their musical muses are mazzy star, kate bush, the cranberries, phil collins, autumn's grey solace and the smiths.

✦ sheep!reader, who loves wearing soft and lighter colors, no matter the season. They nail the southern belle, farmer's daughter and cottagecore aesthetics, giving them an angelic appearance; radiating joy and innocence and beauty that surely catches many eyes, though they never seem to notice as they're in their own little world.

✦ sheep!reader, who tries their best at everything, but often feel like they're doing everything wrong. They often find themselves cringing about something they said in a conversation from days ago, tripping and falling in front of everyone at the worst moment possible, or not being able to concentrate on their studies and understanding the subjects they're taught. They're emotionally fragile, easily overwhelmed and stressed.

✦ sheep!reader, who loves animals and is 100% a future cat lady. They find almost every animal cute and adorable- from spiders to sharks. Despite their skittishness to most things, animals are the only thing they aren't scared of. They love watching animal documentaries for hours- and they never get bored.

✦ sheep!reader, who likes to draw people they find pretty. Honestly, they find everyone beautiful, but those who are kind-hearted and have beauty inside and outside are ought to get at least one drawing from them.

-Takes care of his hands and fingernails very well. Uses creams mostly.

-Has sharp nails, pointy ears, sharp canines,idk why I imagine him with non-human features (prob. Bc of myths regarding changelings even tho he is canonically 100% human, for now)

-Has a few more moles on his body.

-Has a slim muscle build.

-Had to learn to use certain products and skills to maintain his “Knight” attire and helmet in pristine conditions, he hated it at first because when he had to do it by himself for the first time but then he got used to it pretty quick.

-He now quite enjoys doing maintenance on his knight attire and helmet, its like a ritual to him.

-Definitely tends to hum when doing an activity or thinking about something. Has a pretty good singing voice.

-Definitely sadistic. Or at least sadistic tendencies.

-He tends to enjoy pushing people to the edge, seeing how long they can last before they complete break.

-we all know this MF LOVES listening to gossip and spreading it like wildfire.

-His fav flowers are roses (Mainly pink, white, red, black) and also admires poisonous flowers. (Definitely has not considered on using them to get rid of ppl)

-has good dancing skills.

-Knows fencing and knows swordsmanship

-it’s mentioned in his backstory that as a kid he was quiet and read books. (His full backstory is on IDV’s weeibo account) He definitely LOVED the genres of fantasy, knight, history, drama, poetry etc.

-Rlly likes wine, and test tasting them.

-Likes chess, played it since he was young.

-if he ever interacted with Wick, WICK WOULD NOT LIKE HIM AT ALL. (With the whole idea that dogs can apparently detect bad ppl)

-He could not stand getting dirt or mud during matches, but he can’t do too much about it. Other than mumble angrily under his breath.

-whenever he used to steal sweets as a kid he would always find a away to blame it on somebody else.

-absolute HATES his sister’s lover. He was one of the few factors than caused problems for his “inherit all the family money” plan

-Would definitely love stirring absolutely chaos and drama inside the oletus manor and seeing ppl fighting and arguing all while he watches from afar.

-Kinda got mad that when he pushed her sister down the stairs didn’t exactly kill her on injured her severely. (His diary mentions that the sister only got bruises, nothing too severe)

-100% willing to kill everyone in the manor as long it doesn’t bring him trouble. (Tbh he seems to be the guy to only kill if it 100% benefits him and won’t put him at risk)

-I can see him picking up on how to sew bc he had to fix his knight attire that gained tears and holes after intense matches. I can imagine him complaining angrily under his breath while he struggles to sew the tears in his suit

-Has definitely read the Art of War by Sun Tzu and Don Quixote. He has memorized them completely

-Tbh, he seems a big fan of Shakespeare or classic dramatic tales

-I feel like if he ever insult someone he would absolutely roast the shit out of them without saying a single curse word. He is that type of person.

-He gives me the vibe of that kid who is a little too knowledgeable and enthusiastic about war history.

-He knows all kind of old torture devices and types of executions used through out history.

I like both short stories and novels for different reasons. Short stories make it easier to finish, but I like fleshing out novels a bit more. I’m not much of a poetry guy - I tried it in high school but I’m a bit too literal-minded to be any good at it

Fantasy primarily but also sci-fi

What genre do you prefer writing?

Same as the above :)

Are you a planner or a write-as-i-go kind of person?

I’m kind of in the middle. I like to have a general plan and an idea of the scene I’m writing but I don’t plan too many specific details, and the outline is always flexible

What music do you listen to while writing the story?

I don’t listen to music while writing, I find it distracting

I think I’d be like… a classic library wizard. Idk why I think it would suit me

Taemin: Distant Bells Are Ringing

I don’t always leave an author’s note but I loved writing this for my anonnie’s request <3. So much so that I listened to both the instrumental pieces I mention in this headcanon whilst writing it, and I 100% would recommend you guys do the same bc I felt like crying the whole time lolzzz hope u like it !! :)

A sound of faint, classical music catches your attention as you’re exiting your dark SUV. Your bodyguard outstretches his hand in your direction, offering to lead you carefully out of the vehicle. You look around happily as you lift the sides your long, elegant gown, planting your heels firmly on the ground as you made your way to the entrance of the wedding venue.

“Thank you for coming tonight,” the familiar voice of your wedded friend’s brother greets you at the doors. “I can’t believe you made it!”

“Of course I had to come, how could I miss one of my closest friend’s wedding!? Thank you for inviting me,” you say as the boy leads you inside.

You walk into the beautifully decorated wedding venue, admiring every detail about the grandiose place in awe. Your eyes travel from the high vaulted ceilings to the intricately designed stained-glass windows. The center isle is filled with gorgeous arrangements of flowers and floral arches. All around, people were murmuring in excitement as the ceremony would soon begin.

You’re about to walk to your seat when all of a sudden, you nearly let out a shriek at the touch of a person’s arm against your shoulder.

“What the—,” you quickly turn around and find yourself making unexpectedly hard eye-to-eye contact with none other than…

Lee Taemin.

Honestly? This probably wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t for the absolute heart-wrenching heartbreak I had to endure all alone after we broke up…

Your mind quickly threatens to recall all the miserable nights you cried yourself to sleep for the boy standing in front of you, but you immediately brush them aside and plant the biggest smile on your face instead.

I can’t think of the past now.

“Taemin! Oh, I didn’t know you were here,” you say, awkwardly looking around to make sure no people were looking your way. It was no secret to the media that you and Taemin were once a favorite celebrity couple sought out by all kinds of fans, journalists, and paparazzis alike.

“Of course I’d be here. Don’t you remember we met through the bride?”

“Oh, right,” you answer, letting out an awkward half-laugh.

“I saw you walk in and I couldn’t not tell you how… how amazing you look!” he says, an innocent smile spreading across his face.

“Thank you, Taemin. You look pretty handsome yourself, actually,” you cheekily say back.

“Mister and Missus,” the voice of an older gentleman approaches you both. “Allow me too guide you to your reserved seats tonight,” he says, guiding you and Taemin into the ceremonial room.

“Oh, we’re not togeth—” you stop your sentence when you feel Taemin place his hand against your back, following the gentleman to wherever he seemed fit.

“Thank you,” you say to the gentleman anyway once you’ve reached your reserved seats.

Taemin sits next to you and, to your surprise, there aren’t many other people sitting in your section yet.

“Uh, Taemin?” You carefully look around the room before whispering into his ear, “we’re the only people sitting in this row right now… doesn’t it look a little…”

“Scandalous?” He finishes, giving you a smirk. “I’d be surprised if someone doesn’t take any pictures of us tonight.”

“Right,” you huff, turning your attention back to the front of the room.

For a moment, neither says a word, until Taemin finally speaks up.

“So… how’ve you been?”

“I’ve been… I’ve been good.”

“Yeah, I hear you’ve released a few albums since we last spoke. They’re really good. I really liked your most recent comeback,” he says quietly.

“Thank you, it means… a lot, actually.”

There is another awkward silence, before you speak up this time.

“How about you? How have you and SHINee been?”

“We’re still aiming to be the best we can be,” he smiles. “You don’t listen to us anymore, huh?”

“What? Of course I do. Just because you and I were… a thing… doesn’t mean I don’t love Minho any less.”

He scoffed. “Minho was always your bias, huh? Even when we were a ‘thing’?”

“Well, duh,” you roll your eyes, “look at him. He’s gorgeous!”

“Whatever,” he says, looking around him as a few other couples and guests slowly filled the seats more and more.

“You know,” he says, crossing his arms and turning his eyes toward you, “I only started talking to you just now ‘cause I don’t think I know anyone else here…”

“I thought you said you wanted to talk to me to tell me I looked pretty?”

“Oh, oops, yeah, that too,” he smirked. “It worked, ‘cause you’re still talking to me.”

“You’re still so annoying,” you say, crossing your legs.

He laughs mischievously, lightly punching your thigh.

“Isn’t it crazy how we almost instantly clicked again after so many years of not talking, though?”

You don’t answer him for a moment, thinking carefully of the words you’d say next.

“I guess,” you start to respond, “even after we went our separate ways, our comfort when being around each other never really went away.”

“Hmm,” he ponders, “why do you think that is?”

You don’t get a chance to respond because the ceremony begins, and all guests’ attention turns towards the front of the room.

The wedding ceremony of you and Taemin’s mutual friend plays out flawlessly beautiful.

An organist begins playing O Holy Night, at the request for the bride’s entrance. The bride walks in gracefully as ever. Her princess-styled silk dress was intricately decorated with mesh flowers, her long-sleeved white gloves featured complex designs of floral delicacies. Even from the bride’s back-view, her long, delicately designed dress tail captured and maintained all eyes on her.

Taemin had quietly moved his eyes from the bride at one point and turned his attention secretly to you.

You also looked lavishing in your dark green gown tonight, beautifully complementing the colors of the wedding decor altogether. Taemin couldn’t help but wonder if…

…if you could ever be his bride.

His eyes slowly began to water at the recollection of hundreds of shared memories alongside of you as your partner.

All the laughs, the jokes, the cries, the arguments, the make-ups, the love you shared privately in more ways than one.

He had… missed you.

Why’d we have to break up? He thoughtfully wonders as the bride and groom begin taking their vows.

If only we’d worked through our problems and not run away from them…

But it was almost every day that the arguments would arise.

The bride and groom exchange wedding bands and hold their hands together.

Taemin turns his eyes from the soon-to-be-married couple and focuses again on you.

Yes, while you were physically close to him at this very moment, he couldn’t help but think about how far you truly were.

If only I’d tried harder from my end, Taemin thinks defeatedly. I’ve been through the best and the absolute worst of this industry. If only I hadn’t let the malicious false rumors of that cheating scandal get the best of you…

The old priest raises his hands towards the crowd.

…maybe it would’ve been us on that pulpit by now.

He announces the couple as husband and wife.

But I couldn’t protect you without losing myself in the process.

The groom and bride share their first kiss as husband and wife, and the room erupts into loud cheers and happy tears. The organist beings playing the all-too familiar tune of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, and the new man and wife begin preparing to make their way back down the isle for their final grand ceremonial exit.

Taemin closes his eyes as a couple tears begin rolling down his cheeks. He’s in too deep in his own thoughts when he feels the soft touch of a cloth rubbing against his face.

His eyes open and he makes direct eye contact with you.

You’d taken a handkerchief from your purse and wiped the tears gently from his face, not saying a word.

All around you, white confetti and red flower petals fall as the bride and groom begin exiting the room, the cheers of their guests roaring louder, the organist’s musical arrangement filling the room with l endearing excitement.

You and Taemin are caught frozen in each other’s gaze for a moment in time. Your hand is gently cupped around his face, his tears have slowed, and your emotions are caught in a trance.

What ever will we do? You think to yourself.

How could I ever move on from you? He thinks to himself.

How could I ever… you look into his eyes,

…have left you? he wonders,

…And now I find myself, you ponder,

…having feelings for you, he comes closer,

All around you, couples take notice of you and Taemin sharing an intimate moment together. The gentlemen cheer and begin taking their partners hand in hand, leaning them back against their arms to share kisses of their own in celebration of light of a new marriage.

White confetti and red flower petals continue to float about the room and around all the couples, guests, the newlyweds as the organists begins intensifying the final chords of the infamous Wedding March.

Taemin pulls away slightly, a few more tears escaping his reddened eyes.

“I’m sorry,” he whispers to you. “I’m sorry I couldn’t do more for you.”

You shake your head, not wanting to hear the words you longed to wish for.

“No, Taemin, I’m sorry I ever doubted you. I’m sorry I abandoned the trust I had in you… in us.”

“I should’ve gone back even after all the—”

“There’s no point in bringing up the past anymore, Tae,” you whisper.

“But I have to—”

“Shh,” you gently place a finger against his lips. “I received all the proof from your agency once the investigation was over. I now know you never had betrayed me like that.”

“You… you do?”

You smile. “I’m sorry I never went back for you. I was too ashamed to face you after you were proven innocent.”

“No,” he whispers. “I’m the one who should’ve fought harder.”

“Tae—”

Your words are cut short at the realization that there was no point in arguing further. You had grown and reflected, and so had he.

Knowing what you both knew now, there was an opportunity for the trust to grow back.

Perhaps tonight you could start over.

Perhaps tonight at the wedding reception, over delicious dinner and sugary wedding cake, you could start over.

Perhaps tonight you and Taemin would finally be able to reach the closure you both longed for, and start walking together towards a happily ever after of your own.

The wedding reception had gone just as fun and smoothly as the ceremony. The guests had gathered around the bride and her groom to cut their enormous marbled-flavored cake. A couple minutes before the cake-cutting begun, the bride caught a glimpse of you and Taemin and quickly walked over to you both.

“Hey, you smoochy lovebirds, why didn’t you tell me you got back together!?”

“What? How’d you even know—”

“Oh, please!” she giggled, “You started the little kissing-train back at the venue, didn’t ya? Look, it’s already making headlines!!” She excitedly pulls out her phone from her sleek reception gown’s pockets and points the screen at you both.

Indeed, there’s a half-blurry picture of you and Taemin sharing a loving, lasting kiss amidst the newlyweds’ grand exit. The headline at the top reads in bolder letters: BREAKING!! HAVE THE STARRY-EYED COUPLE ALLEGEDLY MADE A COMEBACK!?

Underneath the post, thousands of comments were already flooding the media with fans excitedly screaming their heads off at the sight of their favorite celebrity couple rumored to be seen together again. Fans from all around the industry—even fans who didn’t actively listen to you or Taemin’s music—enthusiastically shared well wishes and celebration for you both, many of these fans hoping that this time your relationship would lead to a much happier ending.

“I’ll say, your kissing stunt was absolutely perfect!” the bride excitedly bounces up and down. “All my wedding exit pictures have guests sharing kisses in the background and it’s so… so beautiful!! I’ll have to get that moment framed for our new home!”

Taemin places his hand around your waist, pulling you closer.

“If it weren’t for your wedding, I wouldn’t have gotten closure with my love again,” he smiles. He then turns his attention to you.

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXI - Base Game)

I'm retiring the part joke here now I think, and for good reason. You see the title, right? Base Game? I will explain in a moment.

I love FFXI. I have very fond memories watching it being played growing up (some of the only fond memories I have at times hahaaaaa), and that love very much influences the feelings I have for it nowadays. It's absolutely an aged game. It is 100% a game of its time, and I'm ok with that! I play it when I want to chill out, mindlessly grind, and listen to some chill beats; It is such a vibe of a game. It also has a really cool world, story, and characters, and for that to all the people that make "every FF game" lists of all types and you exclude XI? I will find you. The main composers other than Uematsu in this game were Naoshi Mizuta and Kumi Tanioka, who later do Stranger of Paradise and Crystal Chronicles, respectively (those are at least my favorite bits they do)

As XI is an MMO, it is split up into several expansions, and some add-on content. It's a huge game, and I can't do it justice by only doing 5 songs from the whole thing, so I'm going to split this up into a few parts, one for every expansion (plus maybe a bonus one for the add-ons and things that don't quite fit) (this is also why I can't keep doing the part joke cause then XII is gonna be like part 17 and that's fucked). It's XI week! Let's start with the base game :)

5. Despair (Memoro de la Ŝtono) You might be wondering, What The Fuck is that title? Memoro de la Ŝtono is the vocal part of the opening, and its motifs are used in several different songs. This version specifically is one of my favorites. It plays in a few different cutscenes so when it appears it's like a nice treat. I absolutely love the synth in this whole track, the heavy backing, the cool harpsichord, and the part in the middle where it just goes ham on the keys. It does really fit well with the Despair name, but also like it's kind of a jam?

4. Battle Theme Something cool about XI is that it has different battle themes depending on where you are and if you're in a group or not. This is the general battle theme when you aren't in a party (so for that reason ironically you're probably not going to hear it much considering most of this game needs a party). I love the intro still giving you that classic FF build up, but in a unique way. The whole song sounds almost like a band marching you out for war, with the snare and the flute especially. Another really cool part is when it gets less upbeat, the flute is giving you a steady yet nervous backing while the trumpet plays its heart out.

3. Awakening Yooooooooo the first final boss theme of this game. When I actually played XI myself and not through the eyes of a child watching, it was in the modern day with trusts, basically soloing it. Catch me sitting awkwardly regenerating HP while the Actual Final Boss is killing all of my ghost friends who can't do shit: it was very funny. ANYWAYS, this song is so cool. Super heavy on percussion, and the toms have a really awesome bouncy feel to them. This whole song takes the Shadow Lord's main theme, keeps a lot of the same sounds and melodies, but transforms it into a battle theme expertly. This is also a really fun song to play in Theatrhythm with the melody hitting you with a lot of triplets.

2. The Republic of Bastok One of my favorite memories of this game is seeing Bastok being wandered around. When I finally decided to pick it back up as an adult, the moment I heard this song I got really emotional and happy. The percussion with the timpani and claves really gives you the feel of a bustling city, and the melody is an absolute joy to my ears; making you feel like everything is right and happy, walking through the city as people build and craft. I really don't have much else to say about this song, it never fails to bring a genuine smile to my face.

1. Vana'diel March Vana'diel March absolutely does that thing that music does where when a specific instrument plays some specific notes, it is like, scientifically calculated to pull on your heartstrings. One day I will figure out what this term is called cause I know it has to exist. This is the title screen music; every expansion has its own unique theme, but the basic one has always been my favorite. March is a perfect word for this song, cause the intro which becomes the backing gives you that feel; imagine the end of the opening cutscene where you see the huge army walking together? That's this song. The trumpet comes in with a beautiful solo, going into the prelude showing you that this is still Final Fantasy. Bring in the rest of the orchestra to create a grand feeling of adventure, saying to you: "Hey, this is a huge world that you're about to enter. Think of this as you walk through it." It's beautiful, and this song is almost like a musical summary of why I love this game, in a way.

Ten of my favorite movies in no particular order!

This was hard af actually because as soon as I read it I forgot every movie ive ever seen. Suddenly, all cinema ceased to exist. Thanks brain.

That being said I did my best as-per my recollection and am probably missing things I quite love. Woopsie.

#1: Fantasia (1941)

This one has been my favorite since I was 2 years old. Beautiful art, Disney, and Classical music. It's just a win.

#2: The Phantom of the Opera (2005)

This is all of nothing like the book and my 15 year old emo ass really wanted Christine to go with the phantom despite all the red flags.

Now that I'm an adult I think they'd have been a lovely poly couple, and Erik needs counselling. That being said it's still one of my top favorite movies ever.. Who knew Emmy Rossom and Gerard Butler could SING?

I still love to play it and sing every word, the absolute chagrin of my daughter.

#3: Queen of the Damned (2002):

Anne Rice, Vampires, a soundtrack that quite possibly shaped my entire music taste for life--

This movie is honestly terrible, but in a SO bad its GOOD way. Cult classic 100%.

For an emo 12 year old in the early 2000's this was the best shit EVER, right there beside MCR.

#4: Pride and Prejudice (2005):

SOMETHING ABOUT ME: I love books. I love THIS book. and I love this movie based on this book. -- Mr. Darcy, you are a charmer.

#5: Yellow Submarine (1968):

Another one that's been a top favorite since I was only 2 years old.

I grew up on Beatles, and before I was emo (Around 9 years old) I had a hippy phase where I only wore tie-die and listened to 60s music, with Beatles being my top. This throws me back to them days every time.

#6: Minority Report (2002)

Let's get this out of the way first: Tom Cruise is batshit crazy as a person. I completely acknowledge this. That being said I think this movie is very well done and has a very valid moral that can forever apply to society and social justice as a whole.

It also had a very short run TV Mini series in 2015 (Without Cruise) that was a continuation/sequel of the movie, which I ABSOLUTELY loved just as much. There is only 10 episodes and I was SO sad it was cancelled

#7: Encanto (2021)

By far the newest one on this list.

Good music.

I'm in love with a 50yr old RAT man.

#8: Much Ado About Nothing (1993)

Another book turned movie,

ANYTHING Shakespeare is always iconic, but I think this version is absolutely my favorite. Perfect casting, perfect acting, and Dr. Willson from House is one of the main characters! (You may also recognize Professor Trelawney and Professor Lockhart from Harry Potter as your two main characters. <3 When HP first came out I can tell you I was SO excited for something different than what everyone else was because It was awesome to see them together in the same movie again, for me, since I loved this farrrrr first.

#9: 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

a 90s classic, and ALSO a modern adaptation of another Shakespeare story: The Taming of the Shrew.

It's was very well done, modernizing (For the time) while still sticking to the story. Great cast, great acting, and an icon of the 1990s despite being a story of the 1590s.

I think this movie hit home in a way that other modern Shakespeare adaptations (Such as Romeo + Juliet (1996) and She's the Man 2006)) Missed the mark on. (Although, did you remember Channing Tatum was in that? I didn't! Haha.)

#10: Digimon: The Movie (2000)

Why? I can't tell you why. When this came out was at the height of me being super into Digimon. The art is different from the show in a way that I just vibe with. The entire movie just has a VIBE to it and it brings back good memories. ALL THE GOOD VIBES.

SO despite having 3 different Batmans and only two being directed by Tim Burton, these movies ARE supposed to go together.

They are hokey, and for the most part I consider them a comedic AU, HOWEVER, that will never override a few things:

Firstly, these movies are what got me into Batman and Batverse originally, before the animated series came out.

Secondly, the animated series came out BECAUSE of these movies, and was at least loosely based on them (Which is why Selina was blonde in TAS, to tie in, though they later rectified that in TNBA)

And three, the ENTIRE aesthetic of the movie AND the musical scores being by Danny Elfman are their own works of absolute art that I will ALWAYS appreciate.

Glow Eyes

(Gonna do it so ur sending Remy a fact a day for structural reasons)

Remy gave you a nod while taking the needle and thread. Remus had given them a pillow cover to embroider on. Their hands were shaking from anxiety but as soon as they got ahold of the needle muscle memory took over and they punctured the fabric with the starkly red thread.

They nodded without looking up as you asked if they wanted to hear a fun fact. They stopped for just a moment to give a shocked reaction at the Australia thing.

"That's like a huge bitch! Like I've neeever had plans to go to Australia and like I don't even have any favs from Australia. I'm no Kylie Minogue gay. But if it's that big maybe I gotta make Jannie and RemRem invade it so we can like control the earth y'know?"

You hovered down beside them and glowed a bright yellow so they could see what they were sewing more clearly. They mumbled out a thanks while patting you on your translucent head.

"I think I’m gonna go with needle weaving ‘cause it’s like gonna make the words more clear and since it’s for RemRem I wanna make it more fancy than a simply cross stitch” They explained while sewing “I used to make spiderweb patterns on my skirts by-”

The blanket on the other bed shifted as their roommate moved around. 

“Girl sorry if I woke you up. I’ll be like quiet now” Remy quickly apologized.

A hand waved from somewhere in the nest of blankets “No. No” Their roommate’s voice was worn out and raspy “If talking to youself is what gets you to sleep don’t mind me” The pillow moved a little as he turned to the other side.

“Thanks girly!” They looked bach at you “So as I was saying there are like tots soo many different embroidery-”

When you returned to the tiny room at the rehab center the next day sunlight was shining in through the window and the roommate’s bed was empty. You could hear Remy mumbling out incoherent nonsense.

As you floated up a little bit higher you could see Janus laying in the bed with his head pressed close to Remy’s. His hand laid across their waist and his phone laid between them. They were sharing earbuds.

Remy was so pale their veins stood out like blue glowsticks. Their jaw was slack and their skin glistened from sweat. Their breathing was heavy and unsteady as their body seemed to twitch and shake at random intervalls.

Even though their eyes were only half open they kept their gaze on their partner as their trembling hand moved along his soft chin.

“Sorry babe I’m so boring” They mumbled out.

“It’s okay deary. I don’t mind listening to such riveting classics as” He glanced at what they were listening to (they had said the music grounded them) “...The femme fatale remix of Till the world ends with Kesha and Nicki Minaj. It’s always good to discover new music. And it’s even better to be with you”

Janus peppered kisses along their cheek which made them let out weak giggles. They closed their eyes and rubbed their nose against his.

“Sorry it’s all ‘bout me. What- what’s going on at your job?” Remy asked half lucidly “Or anything. How is the uh the ikea? Viv?” They blinked before slurring out “The library babe?”

They looked to Janus for an answer while kicking off the blanket. They’d dragged it on just a minute ago because “they’d been freezing to death” but now it looked like they were burning alive.

He smiled softly “The library is doing good darling. Logan asked me over to bake treats for the kids art and crafts evening- Oh a friend is here” Janus interrupted himself as he saw you.

“I think she’s trying to like remind me I’m not like alone” Remy groaned out while clutching their head. It felt like their skull was going to implode on itself.

You told your shrimp fact.

“I also have my heart in my head. That’s why I’m such a genius” Janus said with a smirk. They looked over to Remy and smiled even winder when they saw their partner laughing weekly.

The next day the room mostly looked the same except that Remus was the one sitting at the foot of the bed. Remy’s foot was sticking out from the blanket and they kept poking at their boyfriend’s side to annoy him. They still looked just as pale and they had huge bags under their eyes because the withdrawal symptoms were keeping them awake.

“Yeah so there I was lost in the woods” Remus babbled on “And suddenly a bunch of crows flew by over my head and- GHOST! HI!”

You flopped your ghost body on top of Remus head to make his brain feel all fuzzy while he laughed before telling your fact of the day.

Remus let up into a big sinister smile “Y’know the big reason everyone gets so much dopamine in the shower is ‘cause they’re all nakey” 

He said it while tickling Remy right by their ribs so they let out into one of those shrill giggles. He kissed them on the cheek and moved a bit of their hair that had gotten stuck to their sweaty forehead behind their ear before laying down beside them.

“Just imagine the RAW NASTY creative power if someone mushed like 8 naked people all at once into a shower”

“Babe that’s just an orgy” Remy replied.

“Well then I gotta go look for statistics on how many brilliant creative endeavors were started during an orgy”

“Great excuse to become one of those uhhh like....I think Janny’s said it...Empirical scientists!” They looked proud of themself for remembering before another skull shattering headache hit them and their stomach dropped.

The room was empty the next time you showed up. The nurses had coaxed Remy into leaving the bed just for a few hours so they could clean since the sheets were drenched in sweat and had stains of vomit on it.

You floated through a few walls before finding Remy curled up in the sofa of the ‘living room’ of the rehab center. Remus had his head in their lap while scrolling on his phone. His partner was working on embroidering the pillow case so the fabric kept falling onto his face but he didn’t mind.

Remus looked up to find Remy silently crying. Tears rolled down their cheeks but they didin’t make a single sound, their eyes were barely even red.

He quickly sat up and reached out to cup their cheeks “Beanie, you okay?”

“Yeah. Yeah. Just” They closed their eyes tightly “Just withdrawal shit”

“You’re through the worst of it. I know it feels like having your liver picked by birds over and over again but it’ll be over soon”

Remy let go of their needle and thread as they sucked in a deep breathe to not start crying any harder “Every minute is just like so fucking slow an-and I keep thinking bout how This is just the start-”

“The withdrawal is gonna be over in like a week. 2 week tops! Then we go burn houses or scream in the woods or whatever you want!”

“This is the start of being sober!” Remy nearly choked on the word “I’m gonna have to remember and exists an-and already I don’t- I can’t stand- Everything feels SO real Remus! Everything- I- I can’t comprehend this” They held up their shaking hand “This is the same hand I had when I was being abused by my dad- same hand i had when I was flinching from Virgil- I- I don’t wanna be the same person all of that happened to! I don’t wanna have to live with it! I wanna forget! I wanna! I don’t want Myself to be real! I- I-”

“You can sob and sniffle and throw snot all over the place y’know” Remus said in his softest tone “I won’t get mad. You’re safe”

Remy’s face scrunched up into an ugly grimace as they let out a quiet whine. Remus moved his finger against their lip and waited until they nodded before kissing them. He held them close as they continued to sob.

You quietly decided to leave the room. You could just give two facts tomorrow instead.

It was late at night when you returned to Remy’s room. You found them sitting on the floor with their back leant against the wall, their hands were busy with the embrodeiry. Their cheeks had stains left from tears.

Your light pink glow made Remy look up. They smiled  a little when they saw you.

“My head is having like loooads of stupid thoughts ‘cause of the uhm the withdrawal” Remy mumbled out, they looked dead tired “I told Jannie ‘bout some of them and they like convinced me to tell the nurses. They took my needle ‘cause it was too sharp they said but I got like a more round one” They sniffled “Earl- my uh roommate has been playing cards with me when Jannie and RemRem aren’t here but he needs his sleep so it’s like good your here right now. I could use the distraction”

You didn’t even have time to finish your fact about Scotland before Remy’s eyes went wide and their mouth turned agape in shock.

“You’re scottish!??! Girl I should have guessed with how you speak but I just assumed that like all ghosts sounded kinda scottish!! What the fuck is a scottish ghost doing in fucking Florida!? Girl if I die I’m getting the fuck outa here. I’mma be in fucking Havana or something. Sawry finish your lil fact”

You let out a little huff before finishing your unicorn fact.

“Having a unicorn as it’s country animal?....Kinda gay. Slaaay Scotland!! My new faav country! Unicorns having a connection with dominance!?” They twirled their hair “You telling me unicorns are doms...omg...”

You followed it up with the whale fact.

“The heartbeat!? Girl that would be calming as shit. Wait...Could you mimik whale sounds? That sounds like suuuuuper niiiiceee”

After a moment of consideration you took out your ghost phone and simply searched up a video of whale sounds before putting it against Remy’s ear.

“Are you kidding me? Did you not see the extrrrra extrrrordinary way I completely and uterrrrrly won this game of uno” Janus said sarcastically.

“I saw you cheating!!” Remus exclaimed.

“Me? Cheating?” They gasped “I would never! What about my honor!”

“You can get the honorary punishment of getting your hand gnawed off for cheating!”

Remus jumped forward and grabbed onto Janus’ wrist. He made loud chomping noises while only biting A little on their actual skin. Janus played along by throwing uno cards at his head.

The two of them were sitting beside Remy’s bed. Their partner had too much head fog from pain and sleep deprivation to play uno with them but just laying in bed and watching the two people they loved have fun made Remy feel better.

You interrupted the biting to tell them about ultracrepidarians. Janus let up into a smirk before boping Remus on the nose.

“Someone who speaks above their knowledge grade, such as you claiming I would ever cheat when you know nothing about the spirit of card games!”

Remus tried to bite their finger “HAH! You’re one to talk! You discuss criminal mysteries with me all the time and yet you’ve never drank even a TINY bit of blood!”

“Ohohoh but you love to speak of old torture methods when you don’t even know about the philosophical reasoning that led them to happen!” Janus argued back.

Both of them sent confident smiles at each other while crossing their arms. Remy rolled their eyes.

“Girlies get a room”

You added in your fact about Jiffys which made Remus loudly laugh.

“Hehe sounds like yiff”

You heard quiet crying when you came back the next day. Remy sat huddled up in a blanket in front of the single window in their room with a box of tissues. You sat down next to them and quietly told your fact about humming.

They rolled their eyes before trying to hum while holding their nose and when they couldn’t and their nose just felt stuffy instead they started to quietly chuckle.

“The doctor said my withdrawal symptoms had lessened enough that I could like go to my first therapist session...or well my first here” They sighed “I’m just like a lil torn up ‘bout it. It’s just like...Like...It just feels like tots FUCKED That they just leave me all alone right after a therapy session. I’ve never had to like talk about Viv in that way with like a professional before. Like the psych was nice like don’t get me wrong I just. I’m just a bit criey right now. Feeling memories....feeling like flashback type of feels....just need a minute”

You continued to glow for the rest of the time you sat there.

Remy was in the living room of the rehab center again the next day. You watched them play cards with some of the other patients for a while before they started to feel too naesous and had to go lay down on the coach. You floated down to them and summoned a hand to wave.

“hii girlie” They said in a tired tone “We had like a group art therapy thingie today. I dunno whyyyy, they said why but I like forgot. I painted Jannie and RemRem. Wanna see?”

They held up a paper with two vaguely human shaped blobs on them. There was a brown shaped blob on one of the human’s face, Remy pointed to it and explained it was Remus’ future mustache.

“You think they’ll like it? I actualllllly literalllllly tried my best especially since I know RemRem is artsy and all that”

They waited for your response for a little bit but you just responded with your last fun fact about gogol.

“Gogol...Sounds like some russian spy character”

They waited for your response about the painting for another minute before remembering something more. They gasped and clasped their hands together.

“Also!! I’ve like decided!! I am going to get a job once I get out of here okay!? Not ‘cause I’m scared of being like a burden....even tho I am also scared of that...I’m just like sooooo tired of just sitting at home y’know? I’ve gotten to test like those uhm what’re they called...elbow crutches! Which I think can like help me manage at a job. You got like any good ideas for jobs that would be like good for me?”

Week ending: 5th November

I sometimes load up a song only to realise it's already in my liked songs. Usually this is not a huge surprise to me, but I have to say, this one confused me - I have no memories of ever seeing it or its artist before, but apparently I liked it enough to save it to my liked songs? However that happened, that probably bodes well, right?

Red River Rock - Johnny and the Hurricanes (peaked at Number 3)

Okay, still no idea where I've come across this before, but I can confirm that I was 100% right to put it into my liked songs. It's a little slice of instrumental rock and roll goodness, based on a cowboy folk song called Red River Valley about - you guessed it - the Red River Valley in Manitoba, so just north of places like Dakota and Minnesota. This original song was written initially around 1870, when an expedition set out there to put down the so-called Red River Rebellion, which was apparently the first big crisis Canada faced after confederating as one entity in 1867. The local Métis population, in particular, who were mostly French-speakers, didn't appreciate the new English-speaking governor, and set up their own provisional government, prompting the Wolseley Expedition to be sent out as a way of reinforcing official Canadian power. It wasn't a complete defeat for the Métis, though - off the back of talks that were held, separate French education for Métis children and protection of Catholicism were obtained, and Manitoba was cemented as an official Canadian state.

All this, of course, is a fascinating but ultimately rather irrelevant side-tangent to a song that in practice is barely about the Red River Rebellion. Sure, it's presumed to be written from the perspective of a local Métis woman, who's fallen in love with a soldier, and is sad that he's now going to be packing up and going back east. But the result are lyrics that could be about anybody separated from their love - the universality of it, as a theme, is doubtless a large part of the reason the song has survived the test of time. And then this particular version takes it one step further away from its original historical context by turning it into a rock and roll instrumental, with a Hammond organ taking over the main melody line. So yeah, interesting history that I had absolutely no idea about, but not actually crucial to know.

I will say that adapting a folk song does immediately have one big advantage, which is that you're looking at a tune that's by definition catchy enough to have stood the test of time, and simple enough that people will remember it. There's also, I guess, a built in audience who will recognise it at least well enough to go "huh, that sounds familiar" - even if you don't know the specific tune, there are definite echoes of other folk classics like She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain. So it feels a very comfortable thing - you can feel exactly where the tune's going, in a very reassuring way. It's the same trick that Bill Haley was pulling all the way back on tracks like The Saints' Rock and Roll or Rockin' Through the Rye, and it's just as effective here as it was there.

I also think that the Hammond organ and sax combination here adds something really distinctive and memorable to the track. There's a sort of raucous, boisterous sense of swagger to it all. Add in a thumpy set of drums and a guitar bassline that's chuggy and bluesy, and you've got something that honestly sounds a little bit glam rock, to me. I mean, listen to this, and tell me that you couldn't imagine a band like Slade pulling off a pretty decent cover? It's trememdously good music for headbanging to, the sort of record I could absolutely imagine people putting on for a spin at their 1959 Christmas parties. What it lacks in subtlety, it absolutely makes up in fun.

I didn't mention this elsewhere, so I will mention it here: Johnny and the Hurricanes is also an absolutely badass band name. 10/10.

I'm really digging some of these instrumental tracks you're beginning to get, here. This one, in particular, really tickled something in my brain - I think it's the repetition of the tune, and the way you can really quickly pick it up. I also enjoy some Hammond organ. There are very few songs that aren't improved by a Hammond organ, and combined with sax, it just creates this awesome, full, warm rock and roll sound that I kind of love. Plus I learnt some history about how Canada became Canada. Which is a nice bonus to a song I already was enjoying. So yeah, good job to past me, I guess - this can sta in my liked songs.

-both of them started off human but became hybrids. classic mcrp design choice . phil is a chocobo (mainly has the feet, wings, tail and ear feathers etc), he is mostly flightless but can float a little and runs and jumps way faster #hardcoreparkour. schlatt is a bighorn sheep (horns, hooves, tail) though it would also be cool to me if he looked more like the questing ram! not 100% sure yet. phil’s also either a gold or yellow chocobo 2 me <- ik black chocobos exist and would fit into his typical design more but shhhh I don’t care. this also is my justification for why phil was so fond of chocobos etc

-my justification for them being part mob is like. every time they hack into the server to revive themselves they have to take some kind of energy or matter from their world/living beings around them to replace the energy/parts of themselves that they lost when they died. like absorbing their life forces or whatever. i.e. schlatt first died landing on his feet so he grows hooves in their place, phil suffocated so i like to think that maybe his lungs/stomach/other internal organs changed a bit, and when they both died together they got exploded + died of fall damage so other various chunks of their bodies got transformed/replaced.

-basically. they look very out of place at first but over time they visually become more and more like the world around them. if i had the energy to draw this whole process it would basically just show not only their clothes and bodies changing, but their color palettes/art style transforming a bit as well until they match the world’s aesthetic more.

-speaking of aesthetic God i fucking love how hexxit looks and feels. the colors especially… just very simplistic and nostalgic and dreamy, idk how else to word it. probably feels that way bc it’s an older version of minecraft. tbh i listen to music a lot to get inspired for hxhc ideas and kubbi + gorillaz + some of philza’s stream playlist + random stereotypical dnd/old fantasy game music are my biggest inspirations

A-T-3 176 Double Dee & Steinski - Lesson 1 (The Payoff Mix)

One month after the release of Play That Beat Mr DJ Tommy Boy launch their Down By Law Switch The Licks Mastermix Contest. Shep Pettibone was (and still is) the king of the Mastermix, his innovative mixes for 98.7 Kiss FM in New York were extremely popular and influential. There were others of course, Tony Humphries was given his big break when he stood in for Shep on Kiss FM, the Latin Rascals were getting their mastermixes aired on New York City dance radio WKTU, and in Chicago there was the Hot Mix 5 on WBMX's Saturday Night Live Ain't No Jive mix show (here's an example from 1983). In addition to these DJ only bootleg edits were being circulated by the likes of Danny Krivit and others, and Ron Hardy was making his equally revolutionary edits

Tommy Boy's mastermix contest offered the grand prize of $100, a custom Tommy Boy t-shirt, and records. They would also put the winner on a Disconet comp, which was a record sent out to club and radio DJs, and a guarantee of getting play on radios across the country. 75 entries were submitted, 10 made it to the second round which would be played to a panel of industry experts

"[Shep] Pettibone and [John "Jellybean"] Benitez were part of a blue-ribbon panel who downed pizza and beer at a listening party where the winner would be chosen from 10 finalists. The hot dance track of the moment, Shannon's "Let the Music Play," saw heavy action in the early going--since both songs are addressed to DJs, there was even a thematic connection. But the ninth entry didn't come from a DJ, and it didn't dip into Shannon's well, either. It did glance off hot dance tracks by Yaz, the Peech Boys, Herbie Hancock, Culture Club, and Indeep amid rap, disco, funk, and rock and roll classics too numerous to mention--as well as less melodic material from Humphrey Bogart, Dr. Saint, Betty White's dance instructor, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. When the tape was through, the judges broke into applause. They knew instantly that Double Dee & Steinski had taken mastermixing into new realms--or appeared to, which was good enough for openers."

The winning entry came from Double Dee & Steinski. Both of them worked in commercials, Doug DeFranco (Double Dee) as an engineer for radio commercials and Steve Stein (Steinski) as a producer and ideas man. The kind of sound collage they produced wasn't entirely new. Cut and paste techniques and tape loops had been around for a while, as novelty by Buchanan & Goodman (The Flying Saucer, 1956), avant-garde by Steve Reich (It's Gonna Rain Pts 1+2, 1965), experimental non-music of Negativeland, and hip-hop (The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel, 1981 - to be fair this should really be Lesson 1, with a mix of Buffalo Gals as lesson 2). Lesson 1 is somewhere in between all these examples, it has novelty but isn't just a novelty record, it has the technical experimentation of process music, and it has breakbeats and blends that will be familiar to hip hop DJs

"So, one weekend we gathered up ten crates of records and camped out at the studio until the evening, and again the next day. And that was it, just the two days. After all there was no random access that computers gave us, you really had to work linearly from start to finish. We picked something to begin with (the top of the record) and kept asking “what next?”

Otherwise Lesson One wasn’t different from the work I was doing on a daily basis. But it was new territory and it sparked the discovery of Steve's unique production talents." - For two people working on something as abbreviated and ephemeral as commercials Double Dee & Steinski have been all over documenting their legacy in exhaustive detail. WBAI's Peter Bochan had a significant influence on Steinski, he produced spoken-words-and-music collages Shortcuts which he put out on tape

DJs love this record because Steinski is an obsessive record collector and he has incredible knowledge of records. Two more Lessons followed, 1984s excellent James Brown Mix, and people's favourite History Of Hip Hop Mix in 1985. The Lessons have charm and humour which you can't say for all of the hit records it inspired, such as Paul Hardcastle's global hit 19 in 1985, or M|A|R|R|Ss global hit Pump Up The Volume in 1987

Although not the first in hip hop the Lessons are probably the most influential and celebrated example of the cut-up style, taking cut-up to the next level, they really were an education for producers and DJs (later known as turntablists). In 2002 Strachild records put out The Ultimate Lessons compilation which contained all three of the original lessons along with another three: Lesson 4 by Dj Shadow, and 5 and 6 by Cut Chemist. The follow-up compilation The Ultimate Lessons 2 (the ultimate ultimate) has Coldcut's 1987 debut single Say Kids? on it. I remember this being the number 1 hip hop record in the UK on Mike Allen's National Fresh show for weeks. Say Kids? is directly influenced by the Lessons, it has the same wit to it and the samples have never been cleared. Coldcut would collaborate with Steinski in 1997. Say Kids? leads to Eric B. & Rakim's Paid In Full (Seven Minutes Of Madness - The Coldcut Remix) and the Double Trouble (Norman Cook and the awful Dancin Danny D) mix of Eric B. & Rakim's I Know You Got Soul, both from 1987. A year later the Dust Brothers produced Know How by Young MC would be released, and the first Prince Paul produced De La Soul singles would come out (on Tommy Boy to bring things full circle)

Cut-up wasn't confined to hip hop. For example Adrian Sherwood and Tackhead mixed the cut-up style with dub and funk, and Meat Beat Manifesto used the technique with an industrial sound. There are Negativeland's undefinable albums Escape From Noise and Helter Stupid. Arthur Baker, a judge for the Tommy Boy contest, would use cut-up on dance records like Criminal Element Orchestra's  Put The Needle To The Record (with Wally Jump Jr), and in the UK cut-up was used by L.A. Mix with Don't Stop (Jamming') and S'Express, Bomb The Bass, etc... And how can I forget Deee-Lite

Back to 1983 and the Tommy Boy contest. As part of their grand prize Double Dee & Steinski's winning entry was pressed up on Disconet Volume 6 Program 7 for DJs in January 1984 as Play That Beat, Mr. DJ (Master Mix First Place). The duo went back into the studio, this time for two whole weekends, and came up with the James Brown Mix which they called Lesson 2. Double Dee & Steinski privately pressed up 500 copies of a disco with these first two Lessons on it. In 1985 they made Lesson 3 (The History Of Hip Hop) which Tommy Boy put out as a promo with the other two mixes, I think this was the is when their mix of Play That Beat, Mr. DJ is renamed Lesson 1 (The Payoff Mix). In the UK Island records (I'm assuming using the sub label 4th + Broadway) made an effort to put out the Lessons officially, they cleared all the samples but the rumour is they couldn't come to a deal over the Herman Kelly sample and the project fell apart. He spent a solid chunk of his teen years as a classic 80′s goth.  He still listens to music from that era often.

He absolutely would’ve written Interview With A Vampire fanfiction.

He actually wrote fanfiction a lot through his youth, often in his school notebooks when he should’ve been taking notes. 

During his twenties he essentially went through a crisis of trying to be what others wanted him to be. Now in his thirties, he’s finally trying to be what he himself wants to.

Harvey

Harvey had maybe one or two friends through his childhood years, but that was really it. People regarded him kindly but aside from asking if he could give them test answers, people didn’t go out of their way to talk to him.

If anyone in town’s a major history buff, it’s him.

If anyone goes ham decorating their home on Feast of the Winter Star, it’s also him. He feels his most at ease when he’s able to sit by the fireplace and glimpse upon the cheesy decorations he spent most of the day putting up.

The man gets ready first day of winter. People walk into the clinic first day of winter and can already hear the classic Winter Star tunes.

Gridball kid from the age of seven to when he dropped out of college at eighteen. He still retains a lot of the information and still knows the technical side of it extremely well. 

He’d only really gone to college due to a Gridball scholarship, but this was around the time his depression kicked into overdrive. He dropped out midway through his first term and went on a downward spiral. He had been depressed for a long time, but him leaving college had almost felt like both a free fall and the most freedom he’s ever had. 

He’s a big fan of old horror games. He never 100% completes them, but he sure does know ways to do it. 

Shane, as much as he doesn’t believe it, is a good listener when he’s sober enough to. He fucking remembers a comment made by Marnie at his third birthday party.
