✦ sheep!reader loves the outdoors, and is usually found basking under the sun as they daydream or running around the grassy plains as they chase butterflies. However, they value the company and prefer to spend their time with others, thriving in groups rather than in their solitude.

✦ sheep!reader is kind in their nature, and would do anything for their loved ones. They also like to show their affection physically, always ready to give a warm hug to someone who needs it, or shower their significant other with pretty little kisses all over their face.

✦ sheep!reader is, however, oblivious to the evil in others. They trust those they love, and want to fit in so desperately that they're easy to mold- easy to manipulate. They like to see the good in others, but often forget that evil also exists.

✦ sheep!reader, who is easily spooked or surprised. They feel squeamish at the sight of a single drop of blood and shiver in fear when they hear a strange sound. Though they'll often try to mask it underneath an awkward close-mouthed smile or giggle. If you ask them to watch a true-crime show with you, they'll still accept even if they don't want to deep inside.

✦ sheep!reader, who likes to do arts and crafts in their free time. They're dreamers and like to put their creativity into something of their own, such as their own plushies, clothing, diy home decorations and many more.

✦ sheep!reader, who likes collecting vintage items like precious moments figurines, vinyl, and even fabrics. Their song library is also full of old songs and classical music, not having a liking for rap, rock and metal music. They listen to their music either on their iPod or record player. Their musical muses are mazzy star, kate bush, the cranberries, phil collins, autumn's grey solace and the smiths.

✦ sheep!reader, who loves wearing soft and lighter colors, no matter the season. They nail the southern belle, farmer's daughter and cottagecore aesthetics, giving them an angelic appearance; radiating joy and innocence and beauty that surely catches many eyes, though they never seem to notice as they're in their own little world.

✦ sheep!reader, who tries their best at everything, but often feel like they're doing everything wrong. They often find themselves cringing about something they said in a conversation from days ago, tripping and falling in front of everyone at the worst moment possible, or not being able to concentrate on their studies and understanding the subjects they're taught. They're emotionally fragile, easily overwhelmed and stressed.

✦ sheep!reader, who loves animals and is 100% a future cat lady. They find almost every animal cute and adorable- from spiders to sharks. Despite their skittishness to most things, animals are the only thing they aren't scared of. They love watching animal documentaries for hours- and they never get bored.

✦ sheep!reader, who likes to draw people they find pretty. Honestly, they find everyone beautiful, but those who are kind-hearted and have beauty inside and outside are ought to get at least one drawing from them.

Like you, Lilia is also the type to be more outgoing in certain situations and follow his head and heart rather equally. He took the liberty of showing you around, welcoming you to a warm and friendly atmosphere along with Kalim and Cater.

♡ Lilia would pay attention to and indulge most of your likes! Pretty (old) architecture? He's more than happy to explore museums, old cathedrals, and any historical sites you're interested in with you! Briar Valley also has plenty of ruins and buildings old enough to be considered heritage buildings, so you're likely to enjoy visiting his home country. He'll show you all the best spots! As for cozy blankets, plushies, and comfortable outfits, you'll find that he's eager to spoil you on special occasions, gifting you some cute things he's sure you'll like. He doesn't gift excessively, but he makes sure every gift he gives you is practical and will be appreciated (it wouldn't do to give you something you don't end up liking after all). He's also happy to cook for you since you like tasty food but well... You're probably full every time he offers.

♡ Like you, Lilia also has an appreciation for music, shown by him being a member of the Pop Music Club. Given his fashion style and background, he also enjoys rock and classical music. Your music tastes align well, so you both often listen to music together! It's a given that your music recommendations for each other work out well too.

The sight of Lilia breathing heavily on the ground, with your sword hovering over his neck is always a little satisfying, even if you know he definitely went easy on you. You smile, reach out your hand to help him to his feet. He takes it with an amused huff.

"Congratulations, my lady. You won again."

You rarely get to spar with Lilia, the both of you often caught up in your respective duties. You treasure these moments with him, especially since he's one of the few people in the kingdom willing to spar with you. Being a Draconia and a girl makes finding people willing to sword fight with you quite difficult.

"You and I both know you let me win." Despite feeling slightly salty, your smile doesn't leave your face. "You always let me win."

"That's true but... You have improved since the last time we sparred."

It sounded as though he was just trying to appease you, but you did notice that it took you a shorter amount of time to win than it did last time. Even when Lilia goes easy on you, he doesn't let you win right away, at least putting up a bit of a fight. "Really?" You perk up slightly.

He relaxes, face breaking into a smile. "Yes, my lady."

"That's good to hear. But in the future, you won't have to go easy on me for me to win." You declare, confidant, determined to improve your sword fighting until you're on par with the knight before you.

"That I'm sure. I look forward to it," he grins back at you, challenging.

You spend the ride back to the castle with your arms around him, riding pillion on his horse. The both of you couldn't take a carriage to the middle of the forest, and the distance was quite short anyway, so you had suggested to ride with him. He had protested at first, wanting to prioritize your safety more, but your pleading puppy eyes quickly broke down his resolve. Lilia has a hard time saying no to you, which is how he agreed to be your sparring partner in the first place.

You giggle as his long ponytail flicks your neck, whipping about wildly in the wind. He apologizes, red eyes looking back at you with concern. The desire to have him look at you forever surges within you, but you hide it, as always. "I'm fine. Focus on what's in front of you."

still thinking about my anniversary sentai idea. for the moment i'm calling them "kyoryoku sentai jidaiger"

here are my best approximations of them via picrew (and also one is a face claim using art from defunct mobile game world flipper)

➢ jidai red (inspo: spade ace, hongo takeshi)

plucked from 1976. age 25. a classic Showa Guy who loves justice, athletics, & protecting the beauty of nature. easily makes friends with every child he meets. he was an up & coming pro tennis player until an injury made it difficult for him to hold a racket in his dominant hand. (this affects his performance as jidai red as well from time to time though he tries to hide it.) after tennis was no longer an option he became a fitness instructor for kids at the local rec center.

parents are stereotypically deceased via an accident when he was in middle school. only family is a beloved older sister who goes missing at the start of the story. when a mysterious being appears in front of him and says that he may be able to find clues about her whereabouts in the future he readily accepts their offer to jump through a time portal and become a sentai hero.

➢ jidai black (inspo: mika yellow four)

plucked from 1987. age 22. cool, collected, keeps quiet about herself & is highly suspicious of others. rides a motorcycle. type of girl who says 'tch' when someone bothers her. a former sukeban leader that all of her kouhai gang members were in love with. she decided to give it all up and buckle down and study after being inspired to become a journalist by an older lady reporter.

currently in her 3rd year of her journalism major but has been failing to keep up with coursework due to the sudden disappearance of her eccentric scientist father. she's convinced that he may have Learned Too Much about something, making him a target, but no one but her seems to be interested in covering the story. much like red, she's enticed to jump into the future by the promise of more info, as well as being able to look at the facts of the case with the clarity of hindsight.

➢ jidai yellow (inspo: kakuranger boys, shoji tenmaranger)

plucked from 1993. age 19. a (mostly) laidback and fun-loving dudebro. that "fun" sometimes includes annoying the people around him with pranks and stupid jokes. he enjoys skateboarding and listening to popular american rock music that he thinks he's the first teen to ever discover. does have a more sensitive & anxious side too but he tries his best to push those feelings deep down. only child to a hardworking single mom.

his missing person is his boy best friend who one day fails to show up to the arcade for their weekly gaming sesh. at first he assumes his buddy just finally got gf and is hanging out with her (a looming possibility he's been jealously worried about) but after not hearing from him for a few more days he enlists the network of other dirtbag city kids to help find him with no luck. maybe the answer can only be found... in the future?

➢ jidai pink (inspo: natsuki boukenyellow)

plucked from 2005. age unknown to anyone but her. a cheerful and enigmatic gyaru who rarely seems fazed at all by the odd events that occur throughout jidaiger. possesses a strange "luck" ability such that she often manages to unintentionally avoid enemy attacks, as well as avoid misfortune in her regular daily life.

perhaps her luck is also responsible for her cellphone - a pink razr flip phone with enough charms to make you say "they beat jesus with that" - which even after time traveling still somehow allows her to call all her friends in 2005 and tell them about how weird reiwa is/keep up with the current gossip.

contrasted with her love of all things cutesy is her love of horror, and she is bothered to no end when the maintainer of her fave creepypasta/occult phenomena website suddenly stops updating. they won't respond to her emails either. despite not actually knowing them personally she is 100% willing to time travel & become a sentai hero if it means solving the mystery of their vanishing.

➢ jidai green

normie guy from [current year]. age 37. a grumpy & weary but good-hearted salaryman who works for an insurance company. has been known to help customers cheat the system a la that scene from the incredibles. he is sometimes expected to visit customers' homes, and so will use that as an excuse to escape from work when there's a kaijin to fight.

lives with his 10 year old son and, as of early on in the show, all the other jidaigers, who are strangers to reiwa and have nowhere else to go. they drive him up the fucking wall but, as someone who's never had much in the way of family, he comes to kind of like having them around by the end.

divorced and has a somewhat strained relationship with his ex-wife, who suddenly decided to give up the life they'd built and start backpacking around the country to "find herself" about 3 years ago. however she's always there like clockwork for her monthly visit with their son, and so he immediately knows something is wrong when one month she doesn't show up.

➢ jidai turquoise

arrives from the year 25XX. a robot from a time when robots are ostensibly equal citizens to humans, though there's still some awkward tensions there. he puts on arrogant and standoffish airs, but people will soon come to realize it's because he's LARPing as a hardboiled private eye from 20th century noir films, which he considers "the pinnacle of media entertainment."

when not trying to play a character he is very dweeby, naive, and excitable. he finds reiwa fascinating and is always taking notes about it in his notebook. he chose to take the mysterious time being's offer due to the disappearance of his robot cat, nyanko, whom he considers his best friend. in a notable episode the jidaigers manage to find and rescue nyanko from one of the enemy's bases, but also learn about the data chip hidden inside the cat, which held a list of names... names including those of the jidaigers' missing people.

i feel like James would 100% buy into the idea of listening to classical music while he studies. like he heard about it from lily or something and fully convinced himself it works

that being said, i also feel like he would totally be the type to get distracted by said classical music and be like nodding his head along to the beat of it instead of actually locking in

physically cannot study when he's around other people, he will just start yapping about his day or quidditch or literally anything

accidentally sits too close to anyone else on the couch in the common room. like if remus was sitting on one side of the couch and the whole other side of it was open, he would still sit right next to remus.

he has this playlist of music that he's listened to so much that it has become background noise. does that make sense? like he doesn't have to pay attention to it- it's just kind of on

he either puts a shit ton of milk and sugar into his tea/coffee or none at all. there is no in-between and it depends on the day

he refuses to wear shoes in his room or even around the common room unless he is actively leaving. so instead he wears a pair of the most grandpa-esque slippers you've ever seen.

Personal headcannons ( & some spicy takes)

Brahms is not stinky/dirty by choice. He's not opposed to bathing or shaving or being clean, he just couldn't run water or sneak a shower while Greta was there or it'd blow his cover. I personally think he may have snuck buckets of water into his room (where he has a wash basin) for sponge baths or quick wipe downs. Same goes for his clothing, he couldn't exactly toss them in the washer and dryer. And living in the walls and attic is dusty and dirty. If he hadn't bathed or shaved in 20 years, his hair would have been long as well as his beard. His unkempt look appears to be a couple weeks of not proper upkeep. About how long Greta was there maybe.

He's always had a beard/mustache ever since he could grow one. It was a way to defy his parents and a reminder that he is not, in fact, a little boy. He generally keeps it trimmed and neat, what we see when he comes out of the wall is due to him not being able to get a proper shower and trim during Greta's stay. Also it's a pain to shave around his scars.

He used the toilet when Greta was out getting mail, out in the garden or possibly deep in sleep. He may do the whole bed pan thing... ugh..let's not think about this one too long

He doesn't have the mind of a child. He's not mentally challenged or age regressed. He uses the child voice for manipulation and trickery. Possibly due to his parents forcing him into the walls and expecting only a good little boy for 28 years.

He is socially stunted for sure.

Brahms might be a sociopath, just how bad and if it's nature or nurture, is up for interpretation.

Did he kill Emily? The movie hints at yes, and there is definitely a possibility he did. At 8, kids generally know right from wrong but usually lack the ability to think ahead very far at the consequences of their actions. Combine it with him being an "odd boy" (psychopath? Possibility autistic or something???) You have a recipe for disaster. It also could have been an accident. Tho how one gets a bashed in head on accident is very sus.

He is absolutely 100% touch starved! That's enough to drive anyone a lil batty.

He has a slight fear of fire, candles would probably not be a good idea to have around him. Fire in a fire place may also unnerve him.

He has a little bit of agoraphobia, or more likely is institutionalized. He can probably go out around his house as long as other people aren't around, but to get him to come out into a public place would be a challenge.

He's intelligent. To go along with the "he's not a child stuck in a man's body" he can read, he can write, he listens to classical music and opera, he can play the piano and violn. There is one in his childhood room as well as his attic room. There are music sheets everywhere and tons of books. I'm certain his parents homeschooled him, and they appear to both be learned people.

He has excellent hearing and can play music by ear on his violin or piano. His singing is rubbish tho, man can not carry a tune to save his life!

The violin is his true passion.

Had he had a normal childhood (and possibly therapy) he would have been a professional violinist or something in the music sphere. Any fanfics or fanart with Brahms doing something with music is an instant love for me!

I feel like he's a natural romantic at heart. Loves romantic songs and stories.

His other hobbies include trapping, taxidermy, and general crafting. Maybe he made doll brahms and his mask?

He's a bit of a perv. Yeah...maybe not as bad as some fan fictions like to think he is. The Greta doll is both a sad cry for touch, as well as a...ummm...way to relieve some pent up...energy. Notice it's not stained or damaged. I feel he had some reverence for it.

While Brahms is a perv, he's not a rapist...per se. Hear me out. He could have easily forced himself on Greta during the trapped in the attic scene. After all, she did knock herself out in nothing but a towel. There were several times he could have forced her during the entire movie, but didn't. My favorite scene is when she came back for Malcolm, she sees Brahms standing in the hall way and he slowly walks over to her and just breaths in her scent. A tense (and sexually charged) scene for sure, but there were times when he was definitely going that direction. When he grabbed Greta after killing Cole, what was the endgame of that had Malcolm not clubbed him? And the goodnight kiss scene...yeah...I don't see that not ending in force had Greta not stabbed him. But I will still defend it's the starved for love, starved for a woman, and starved for touch that pushed him that far. Could she have stopped it with another sharp "BRAHMS! "? We'll never know...

He has definitely jacked it to pictures of classical nude paintings found in his books.

If he has any kink, it's definitely a voyeurism kink.

He's definitely a switch. Because of his upbringing, he can be subby, sweet, clingy, and docile. He can also be dominating, controlling, and manipulative.

He's a 30 soome year old virgin. You can't convince me otherwise.

Brahms is uncircumcised.

It's established that there is no wifi or bars at the Heelshire mansion, this goes for tvs, computers, or radios. Not once did we see Greta watch TV or listen to music outside of the piano and record player. God it would be boring there. Another reason I believe Brahms is intelligent, all he can do is read and study.

Brahms is almost 100% unaware of pop culture and the world outside of his parents house. What's the internet? What's a meme? What's a Beyonce? He would have almost no clue about recent movies and TV shows. He maybe heard some modern music his previous nannies played on their phones. Maybe also snagged a magazine if a nanny left it.

Did Brahms kill his other nannies? Well, that's also heavily up to interpretation. He claims as he's screaming to Greta, threatening that he'll kill Malcolm like he "killed the others". But he didn't. Malcolm was knocked out, but alive. He apparently also had final say over who got to be his nanny. "He's chosen you, if you'll have him" I choose to believe if he didn't outright dismiss them on age or looks, if they mistreated the doll they were fired or scared off with the ghost boy routine. Notice, he didn't kill Greta for tossing the doll into the rocking chair or covering it up. The difference with Greta was that this time, the parents took a "permanent holiday". Besides, if he was killing multiple nannies, there would be investigations and rumors.

To piggy back off the previous topic... He could have killed Cole, but tried to scare him off first. That's right, he could have killed Cole in his sleep, Greta and Malcolm could have come into a grizzly scene of Cole choking on his own blood that night...but no, Brahms tried to scare him off with a bloody message and dead rats.

He actually does like Malcolm a little. Malcolm was always nice to the doll and of course he delivered the food. It wasn't until he put moves on Greta that Brahms jealousy got the better of him. He could have shown himself that night Malcolm and Greta were getting frisky, but opted to cockblock with scary ghost boy shenanigans instead. This is why he didn't outright kill Malcolm like he did Cole.

He's been heavily controlled his whole life. This may contribute to why he was an "odd child" as well as his psychopathic nature in the present. I headcannon his parents fucked him up royally from birth. Heavy restrictions, dogmatic adherence to rules and etiquette... just everything. Look at his childhood room. He has toys from what looks to be the 40s or 50's. Made of wood and tin and are wind up. His birth year is 1983. Where's the he-man action figures? Where's the my pet monster doll? Where's the posters of sports stars? Right? They probably kept him isolated at their manor, no other kids around save Emily that went there to play sometimes. His diet, entertainment, wardrobe, everything was extremely cultivated to his parents tastes. This is why he responds so well to a firm voice and authority.

His parents were the real monsters. They put him in the wall. The fact that his face is burned, I believe they tried to kill him with fire, it either didn't work and he survived or they chickened out half way. Either way, I believe they did it because of the Emily incident, which should have been a therapy situation, not murder. They wanted a quiet, obedient, non problematic son, hence the doll and the "bad seed" trapped in the walls. Possibly to also save the Heelshire name.

Brahms is a brat. Yup, because of his upbringing his only way to lash back was to be a brat at times and throw fits. The messed up toy room being one of them. The parents admitted he's spoiled and they will acquiesce to some of his demands. (Mostly his choice of nannies)

He's ashamed of his scars/face hence the mask. He might have also been forced to wear it because his parents didn't want to see the burn scars the very few times brahms wasn't in the wall/attic.

Until the nannies arrived, he had more free rein of the house. While still being forced into the walls, he was allowed by his parents to come out and shower as needed. As long as he wore the mask, and generally not while they were around or in that part of the house.

How does he stays fit in the walls? Well, he's got his attic room and it's fairly well sound proofed with the egg cartons. There's room to do push-ups and sit ups. There's also beams to do pull ups on too.

ha-eun: light sleeper. sleeps really well when he's sleeping with other people, though. otherwise he sleeps pretty late and wakes up pretty early. she's a 6 hour max girlie voyager: light sleeper. he probably prefers to take naps rather than be asleep for long stretches of time, so if he can help it he doesn't sleep very long. perpetually tired regardless of the amoutn of sleep so why waste time 🤷‍♀️

so they were both born in south korea. specifically changwon city in the jinhae-gu district.

ha-eun: misses home. she was 15 when they moved to the us so he lived enough time there to consider it a major part of home. he wants to go back some day, but he's too poor to afford it. (she misses the cherry blossoms.) voyager: he was 12 when they moved to the us, so enough to stick with him. but he gets winter soldiered when he's in his 20s so he doesn't remember it. plus. after the whole um killing his brother thing, he considers everythign with ha-eun a past life. so that plus the brainwashing, he doesn't see a reason to call it his home. he would like to go back, just to say he did.

Taemin: Distant Bells Are Ringing

I don’t always leave an author’s note but I loved writing this for my anonnie’s request <3. So much so that I listened to both the instrumental pieces I mention in this headcanon whilst writing it, and I 100% would recommend you guys do the same bc I felt like crying the whole time lolzzz hope u like it !! :)

A sound of faint, classical music catches your attention as you’re exiting your dark SUV. Your bodyguard outstretches his hand in your direction, offering to lead you carefully out of the vehicle. You look around happily as you lift the sides your long, elegant gown, planting your heels firmly on the ground as you made your way to the entrance of the wedding venue.

“Thank you for coming tonight,” the familiar voice of your wedded friend’s brother greets you at the doors. “I can’t believe you made it!”

“Of course I had to come, how could I miss one of my closest friend’s wedding!? Thank you for inviting me,” you say as the boy leads you inside.

You walk into the beautifully decorated wedding venue, admiring every detail about the grandiose place in awe. Your eyes travel from the high vaulted ceilings to the intricately designed stained-glass windows. The center isle is filled with gorgeous arrangements of flowers and floral arches. All around, people were murmuring in excitement as the ceremony would soon begin.

You’re about to walk to your seat when all of a sudden, you nearly let out a shriek at the touch of a person’s arm against your shoulder.

“What the—,” you quickly turn around and find yourself making unexpectedly hard eye-to-eye contact with none other than…

Lee Taemin.

Honestly? This probably wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t for the absolute heart-wrenching heartbreak I had to endure all alone after we broke up…

Your mind quickly threatens to recall all the miserable nights you cried yourself to sleep for the boy standing in front of you, but you immediately brush them aside and plant the biggest smile on your face instead.

I can’t think of the past now.

“Taemin! Oh, I didn’t know you were here,” you say, awkwardly looking around to make sure no people were looking your way. It was no secret to the media that you and Taemin were once a favorite celebrity couple sought out by all kinds of fans, journalists, and paparazzis alike.

“Of course I’d be here. Don’t you remember we met through the bride?”

“Oh, right,” you answer, letting out an awkward half-laugh.

“I saw you walk in and I couldn’t not tell you how… how amazing you look!” he says, an innocent smile spreading across his face.

“Thank you, Taemin. You look pretty handsome yourself, actually,” you cheekily say back.

“Mister and Missus,” the voice of an older gentleman approaches you both. “Allow me too guide you to your reserved seats tonight,” he says, guiding you and Taemin into the ceremonial room.

“Oh, we’re not togeth—” you stop your sentence when you feel Taemin place his hand against your back, following the gentleman to wherever he seemed fit.

“Thank you,” you say to the gentleman anyway once you’ve reached your reserved seats.

Taemin sits next to you and, to your surprise, there aren’t many other people sitting in your section yet.

“Uh, Taemin?” You carefully look around the room before whispering into his ear, “we’re the only people sitting in this row right now… doesn’t it look a little…”

“Scandalous?” He finishes, giving you a smirk. “I’d be surprised if someone doesn’t take any pictures of us tonight.”

“Right,” you huff, turning your attention back to the front of the room.

For a moment, neither says a word, until Taemin finally speaks up.

“So… how’ve you been?”

“I’ve been… I’ve been good.”

“Yeah, I hear you’ve released a few albums since we last spoke. They’re really good. I really liked your most recent comeback,” he says quietly.

“Thank you, it means… a lot, actually.”

There is another awkward silence, before you speak up this time.

“How about you? How have you and SHINee been?”

“We’re still aiming to be the best we can be,” he smiles. “You don’t listen to us anymore, huh?”

“What? Of course I do. Just because you and I were… a thing… doesn’t mean I don’t love Minho any less.”

He scoffed. “Minho was always your bias, huh? Even when we were a ‘thing’?”

“Well, duh,” you roll your eyes, “look at him. He’s gorgeous!”

“Whatever,” he says, looking around him as a few other couples and guests slowly filled the seats more and more.

“You know,” he says, crossing his arms and turning his eyes toward you, “I only started talking to you just now ‘cause I don’t think I know anyone else here…”

“I thought you said you wanted to talk to me to tell me I looked pretty?”

“Oh, oops, yeah, that too,” he smirked. “It worked, ‘cause you’re still talking to me.”

He laughs mischievously, lightly punching your thigh.

“Isn’t it crazy how we almost instantly clicked again after so many years of not talking, though?”

You don’t answer him for a moment, thinking carefully of the words you’d say next.

“I guess,” you start to respond, “even after we went our separate ways, our comfort when being around each other never really went away.”

“Hmm,” he ponders, “why do you think that is?”

You don’t get a chance to respond because the ceremony begins, and all guests’ attention turns towards the front of the room.

The wedding ceremony of you and Taemin’s mutual friend plays out flawlessly beautiful.

An organist begins playing O Holy Night, at the request for the bride’s entrance. The bride walks in gracefully as ever. Her princess-styled silk dress was intricately decorated with mesh flowers, her long-sleeved white gloves featured complex designs of floral delicacies. Even from the bride’s back-view, her long, delicately designed dress tail captured and maintained all eyes on her.

Taemin had quietly moved his eyes from the bride at one point and turned his attention secretly to you.

You also looked lavishing in your dark green gown tonight, beautifully complementing the colors of the wedding decor altogether. Taemin couldn’t help but wonder if…

…if you could ever be his bride.

His eyes slowly began to water at the recollection of hundreds of shared memories alongside of you as your partner.

All the laughs, the jokes, the cries, the arguments, the make-ups, the love you shared privately in more ways than one.

He had… missed you.

Why’d we have to break up? He thoughtfully wonders as the bride and groom begin taking their vows.

If only we’d worked through our problems and not run away from them…

But it was almost every day that the arguments would arise.

The bride and groom exchange wedding bands and hold their hands together.

Taemin turns his eyes from the soon-to-be-married couple and focuses again on you.

Yes, while you were physically close to him at this very moment, he couldn’t help but think about how far you truly were.

If only I’d tried harder from my end, Taemin thinks defeatedly. I’ve been through the best and the absolute worst of this industry. If only I hadn’t let the malicious false rumors of that cheating scandal get the best of you…

The old priest raises his hands towards the crowd.

…maybe it would’ve been us on that pulpit by now.

He announces the couple as husband and wife.

But I couldn’t protect you without losing myself in the process.

The groom and bride share their first kiss as husband and wife, and the room erupts into loud cheers and happy tears. The organist beings playing the all-too familiar tune of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, and the new man and wife begin preparing to make their way back down the isle for their final grand ceremonial exit.

Taemin closes his eyes as a couple tears begin rolling down his cheeks. He’s in too deep in his own thoughts when he feels the soft touch of a cloth rubbing against his face.

His eyes open and he makes direct eye contact with you.

You’d taken a handkerchief from your purse and wiped the tears gently from his face, not saying a word.

All around you, white confetti and red flower petals fall as the bride and groom begin exiting the room, the cheers of their guests roaring louder, the organist’s musical arrangement filling the room with l endearing excitement.

You and Taemin are caught frozen in each other’s gaze for a moment in time. Your hand is gently cupped around his face, his tears have slowed, and your emotions are caught in a trance.

What ever will we do? You think to yourself.

How could I ever move on from you? He thinks to himself.

How could I ever… you look into his eyes,

…have left you? he wonders,

…And now I find myself, you ponder,

…having feelings for you, he comes closer,

…even after all, you close your eyes,

…this, his nose brushes lightly against yours,

…time! your lips clash against his.

All around you, couples take notice of you and Taemin sharing an intimate moment together. The gentlemen cheer and begin taking their partners hand in hand, leaning them back against their arms to share kisses of their own in celebration of light of a new marriage.

White confetti and red flower petals continue to float about the room and around all the couples, guests, the newlyweds as the organists begins intensifying the final chords of the infamous Wedding March.

Taemin pulls away slightly, a few more tears escaping his reddened eyes.

“I’m sorry,” he whispers to you. “I’m sorry I couldn’t do more for you.”

You shake your head, not wanting to hear the words you longed to wish for.

“No, Taemin, I’m sorry I ever doubted you. I’m sorry I abandoned the trust I had in you… in us.”

“I should’ve gone back even after all the—”

“There’s no point in bringing up the past anymore, Tae,” you whisper.

“But I have to—”

“Shh,” you gently place a finger against his lips. “I received all the proof from your agency once the investigation was over. I now know you never had betrayed me like that.”

“You… you do?”

You smile. “I’m sorry I never went back for you. I was too ashamed to face you after you were proven innocent.”

“No,” he whispers. “I’m the one who should’ve fought harder.”

“Tae—”

Your words are cut short at the realization that there was no point in arguing further. You had grown and reflected, and so had he.

Knowing what you both knew now, there was an opportunity for the trust to grow back.

Perhaps tonight you could start over.

Perhaps tonight at the wedding reception, over delicious dinner and sugary wedding cake, you could start over.

Perhaps tonight you and Taemin would finally be able to reach the closure you both longed for, and start walking together towards a happily ever after of your own.

The wedding reception had gone just as fun and smoothly as the ceremony. The guests had gathered around the bride and her groom to cut their enormous marbled-flavored cake. A couple minutes before the cake-cutting begun, the bride caught a glimpse of you and Taemin and quickly walked over to you both.

“Hey, you smoochy lovebirds, why didn’t you tell me you got back together!?”

“What? How’d you even know—”

“Oh, please!” she giggled, “You started the little kissing-train back at the venue, didn’t ya? Look, it’s already making headlines!!” She excitedly pulls out her phone from her sleek reception gown’s pockets and points the screen at you both.

Indeed, there’s a half-blurry picture of you and Taemin sharing a loving, lasting kiss amidst the newlyweds’ grand exit. The headline at the top reads in bolder letters: BREAKING!! HAVE THE STARRY-EYED COUPLE ALLEGEDLY MADE A COMEBACK!?

Underneath the post, thousands of comments were already flooding the media with fans excitedly screaming their heads off at the sight of their favorite celebrity couple rumored to be seen together again. Fans from all around the industry—even fans who didn’t actively listen to you or Taemin’s music—enthusiastically shared well wishes and celebration for you both, many of these fans hoping that this time your relationship would lead to a much happier ending.

“I’ll say, your kissing stunt was absolutely perfect!” the bride excitedly bounces up and down. “All my wedding exit pictures have guests sharing kisses in the background and it’s so… so beautiful!! I’ll have to get that moment framed for our new home!”

Taemin places his hand around your waist, pulling you closer.

“If it weren’t for your wedding, I wouldn’t have gotten closure with my love again,” he smiles. He then turns his attention to you.

“And,” he adds, “I never would’ve believed I could fall in love with the right person all over again.”

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXI - Base Game)

I'm retiring the part joke here now I think, and for good reason. You see the title, right? Base Game? I will explain in a moment.

I love FFXI. I have very fond memories watching it being played growing up (some of the only fond memories I have at times hahaaaaa), and that love very much influences the feelings I have for it nowadays. It's absolutely an aged game. It is 100% a game of its time, and I'm ok with that! I play it when I want to chill out, mindlessly grind, and listen to some chill beats; It is such a vibe of a game. It also has a really cool world, story, and characters, and for that to all the people that make "every FF game" lists of all types and you exclude XI? I will find you. The main composers other than Uematsu in this game were Naoshi Mizuta and Kumi Tanioka, who later do Stranger of Paradise and Crystal Chronicles, respectively (those are at least my favorite bits they do)

As XI is an MMO, it is split up into several expansions, and some add-on content. It's a huge game, and I can't do it justice by only doing 5 songs from the whole thing, so I'm going to split this up into a few parts, one for every expansion (plus maybe a bonus one for the add-ons and things that don't quite fit) (this is also why I can't keep doing the part joke cause then XII is gonna be like part 17 and that's fucked). It's XI week! Let's start with the base game :)

5. Despair (Memoro de la Ŝtono) You might be wondering, What The Fuck is that title? Memoro de la Ŝtono is the vocal part of the opening, and its motifs are used in several different songs. This version specifically is one of my favorites. It plays in a few different cutscenes so when it appears it's like a nice treat. I absolutely love the synth in this whole track, the heavy backing, the cool harpsichord, and the part in the middle where it just goes ham on the keys. It does really fit well with the Despair name, but also like it's kind of a jam?

4. Battle Theme Something cool about XI is that it has different battle themes depending on where you are and if you're in a group or not. This is the general battle theme when you aren't in a party (so for that reason ironically you're probably not going to hear it much considering most of this game needs a party). I love the intro still giving you that classic FF build up, but in a unique way. The whole song sounds almost like a band marching you out for war, with the snare and the flute especially. Another really cool part is when it gets less upbeat, the flute is giving you a steady yet nervous backing while the trumpet plays its heart out.

3. Awakening Yooooooooo the first final boss theme of this game. When I actually played XI myself and not through the eyes of a child watching, it was in the modern day with trusts, basically soloing it. Catch me sitting awkwardly regenerating HP while the Actual Final Boss is killing all of my ghost friends who can't do shit: it was very funny. ANYWAYS, this song is so cool. Super heavy on percussion, and the toms have a really awesome bouncy feel to them. This whole song takes the Shadow Lord's main theme, keeps a lot of the same sounds and melodies, but transforms it into a battle theme expertly. This is also a really fun song to play in Theatrhythm with the melody hitting you with a lot of triplets.

2. The Republic of Bastok One of my favorite memories of this game is seeing Bastok being wandered around. When I finally decided to pick it back up as an adult, the moment I heard this song I got really emotional and happy. The percussion with the timpani and claves really gives you the feel of a bustling city, and the melody is an absolute joy to my ears; making you feel like everything is right and happy, walking through the city as people build and craft. I really don't have much else to say about this song, it never fails to bring a genuine smile to my face.

1. Vana'diel March Vana'diel March absolutely does that thing that music does where when a specific instrument plays some specific notes, it is like, scientifically calculated to pull on your heartstrings. One day I will figure out what this term is called cause I know it has to exist. This is the title screen music; every expansion has its own unique theme, but the basic one has always been my favorite. March is a perfect word for this song, cause the intro which becomes the backing gives you that feel; imagine the end of the opening cutscene where you see the huge army walking together? That's this song. The trumpet comes in with a beautiful solo, going into the prelude showing you that this is still Final Fantasy. Bring in the rest of the orchestra to create a grand feeling of adventure, saying to you: "Hey, this is a huge world that you're about to enter. Think of this as you walk through it." It's beautiful, and this song is almost like a musical summary of why I love this game, in a way.

Take A Chance With Me - THE Lloyla song ever

People who know me in real life know how much of a NIKI fan I am. I just love her music to bits. Before (funny word) I really only was a TACWM and Every Summertime listener but then October 2024 happened to me and the first half of the Nicole album was on REPEAT + some Buzz songs and NOW I LOVE ALL HER SONGS

But TACWM will always ALWAYS remain my favourite and as much as I wanted to gatekeep it for my whoever and me, Take A Chance With Me is undeniably a Lloyla song. I have a whole playlist for them but if they had a theme song, it has to be this. It IS this.

I got hooked on “TACWM = Lloyla” when I heard these lyrics:

"Doesn't know that I'd stop time and space Just to make him smile, make him smile"

Lula is the Master of Space (spatiokinesis powers - I need to redo her ref sheet and post it on here after exams but I’ve got a power guide on my insta) and my AU deals with a lot of Space-Time, fabric of reality, timelines and all those concepts. The element of Time is a big part of my AU too so of course, as cheesy and obvious as it is, I heard those lyrics and had to make it their song.

Every lyric just makes so much sense with THEM - their dynamic, their interactions. I will probably write a whole essay (I did) if I don't stop here, so I’ll just point out some lines:

"Oh, why can't we for once Say what we want, say what we feel?"

100% Lloyd singing and thinking this. His whole life has been about being the Green Ninja, this great prophesied heroic leader and role model, and he feels compelled to place everyone else before himself. He has to make sure he’s saying the right things and thinking about what’s right for everyone, rarely actually getting to think for himself. I imagine Lloyd pursuing a love interest comes with a lot of inner conflict regarding duty, but let the man be selfish for once!

“Oh, why can’t you for once Disregard the world and run to what you know is real?” 

I would say this is mostly Lula to Lloyd because again, his duty as the Green Ninja often takes priority over everything else in his life. Though I do think this can be said for Lula as well, especially her in Devoidverse, where she’s constantly on the lookout for criminals to put to justice so she can avoid this weird blond guy who keeps following her around like a puppy (I actually have a oneshot written with lines said by Lloyd similar to this lyric so there’s that)

“I laugh at how we’re polar opposites I read him like a book, and he’s a clueless little kid” 

Everything I’ve written about Lloyla so far is that they’re template “opposites attract” from colour schemes to defining personality traits; Lula’s realism vs Lloyd’s idealism, Lula as adventure vs Lloyd as home, Lula as night vs Lloyd as day/light etc. It’s one of my favourite tropes so it was inevitable with Lloyd & Lula. Plus, Lula is excellent at reading people while Lloyd’s attraction to her starts with his curiosity about her and how difficult it is to get a read on her (also, classic interaction from Umbrella Academy between Lila and Diego is SO first-few-meetings Lloyla: Lloyd: You don’t know anything about me. Lula: Oh, I know everything about you. You are an open book written for very dumb children.) The other lyrics are just pretty explanatory of their dynamic - “Heart intangible” is a perfect phrase for Lula’s elusivity, “And he’s got swirls of passion in his eyes. Uncoverin’ the dreams, he dreams at night,” is about Lloyd’s idealism and his hopeful vision for a safe Ninjago, “That I’m hopelessly captivated, by a boy girl who thinks love’s overrated,” is specifically about that scene between them somewhere in S6-S7, where Lula mentions in flow of conversation that she’s not ready for any sort of relationship and Lloyd who’d been debating with telling her about his feelings decides to bury it, setting up a classic lingering-feelings arc (an love triangle… unfortunately) for S8. I’ve always interpreted TACWM to be more romantic and about two individuals who care for each other deeply wanting to take that risk and see where it’ll take them - I think that is super Lloyla and honestly, I’ve already imagined a full-blown animatic to this song. Hopefully one day I’ll get to draw all the scenes I have planned but it'll always remain the opening song to the Night Light playlist.

There was once a time when everyone consumed the same media

When we all watched the same movies, listened to the same music, and read the same articles. There was once a time where songs were available via recording on a wax-cylinder phonograph (s/o Thomas Edison, that’s 1877). Atop of that, commercial LP records didn’t come in until the 30’s, so if you really think about it, in that early time people were listening to whatever they’d get their hands on. Back then we were listening to Mary had a little lamb and the Yankee Doodle (these were some of the first recordings, and look how far they’ve come; I’m talking basically every introduction to piano sheet music known to man kind). People must have been chatting about whatever popping Renaissance tunes were grooving prior to this, which was only known through sheet music. The time put into consuming media via sheet music and listening with pals compared what it takes now to listen to a song is crazy. I mean, if you couldn’t play the piano, what input could you have on the topic of music in conversation (you’d have no idea what Mozart sounded like unless you had some pretty talented buddies).

So, when recordings were finally available readily to public, I’m sure dinner parties got more exciting. It got me thinking about how much variety there was. These days, what you listen to can mean a lot about someone, and it clashes and connects relationships (platonic or not) in a such a unique way. My moneys on the fact that it would have all been much of the same - a low selection naturally. Everyone on the table is listening to the same music at this point, so I’d assume everybody feels involved. There’s something quite electric about a conversation with others involving the same media you’ve consumed - say, a new movie you really liked, when everyone has seen it. Most likely socially and conversationally ostracised if you didn’t have a record player, but there must have been a sweet spot in time where there wasn’t much variation in what you could listen to. After all it had to start somewhere. After the piano classical (and folk and Hawaiian) tunes we move into the names that go down in history permanently; Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, and Bruce Springsteen (Columbia Records). It’s hard to contemplate what comparison we’d make to musicians today. Sure there’s the big pop names, but ultimately the way we remember the artists pre 21st century will always be different. It wasn’t about enjoying a certain genre - everybody loved it, and still does. These songs create innate associations with films and people and places that wasn’t so possible before, because we’re getting some variation now. The songs are starting to mean more. Most of us didn’t live through the period, but it oozes nostalgia. Funny that. We always joke about what music we will play for our kids one day, as if I’m gonna pull out a Playboi Carti CD and say “hey Tommy, this is what mum used to listen too!”. Because I’ll pull out a Pet Shop Boys record (Nightlife) instead. How strange to think my most prized possessions of records and CD’s are almost all pre 21st century. When we talk about music taste today, the amount of preconceived judgement is mental. And how could it not be, when there’s so much to choose from.

Back to (around) the 50’s;

The beauty of being able to play music (specifically sound tracks) was a sensation in itself, and it was the medium that was so intriguing. In a way, visual arts has gone anticlockwise, where nowadays it’s about playing around with the actual material and mixing modes in a way that hasent been seen. Fabric, images, photoshop, advertising, it’s not so much about the subject, but more in how it’s conveyed. In comparison, and as I mentioned before, nowadays 84% of the US music revenue comes from paid streaming services (Musical pursuits, 2024). The way music is listened to has streamlined, but the media itself is fighting for the spotlight. There are over 100 million songs available on Spotify from major recording labels, and 400 million + tracks on Soundcloud. I don’t know about you, but I’m a little spooked by these stats.

I’ve always enjoyed scouring the internet for new music - genres, albums, tracks, ideas, all of it - I get to discover new corners to fascinate my mind and ears almost instantly. Finding people who enjoy a similar niche feels like fate. And no wonder. The amount of media we can consume seems almost disturbing. And it’s much the same for other creative modes - there’s so many artists, journalists, writers, directors, stylists, the list goes on. Naturally, the first question for these creators is how to make the work stand out. I’m a little worried (far less than others I presume) on how exactly this can be viable. Will there be some sort of one child policy equivalent that can level this all out? One project per person per year, please I beg. It’s beautiful and it’s scary.

I find it so interesting how groups these days seem to all ingest similar media, even with such a large range of difference available to us. My friends at home all like Everything but the girl, Massive Attack, gingham, and stripes. When I mix and rock my fits in another country with different people, they tell me they’ve never even heard of these artists. They don’t wear gingham or stripes, or lace skirts over flared jeans. But I know there’s certainly a cool group of people who do, not far from me now. That doesn’t make the people I’m with right now any less cool, it’s just different. The core value of this new friendship is now different - it isn’t about the music we listen to, the clothes we wear, the books we read, or the pictures we take. None of that even matters, because we’re all nice people who enjoy being around each other. None of them like the music I like, but they’ll listen. Some of the songs they actually quite like. That’s the beauty of meeting new people, and I’m guilty of having prejudice against those I don’t think I’d get along with, simply due to a difference in media consumption and the way we are portrayed. Finding similarities in these things with others is nice, but it doesn’t necessarily make you compatible as people. That’s a mistake I’ve fallen for, and I realise now that like minded people will attract such, the same way that well intended people with find just the same. I know some people who like Portishead and Aphex Twin, and just because we consume and enjoy the same media doesn’t mean we have to be best buds. Sometimes we can appreciate the same media and find we have nothing else in common. Not everyone who likes Twilight has good taste in everything else 🙄😒

I think it’s something that is so prominent especially in today’s day and age, with media personas and such. Some places more prevalent than others, but I’ve seen the way people look down on others just because they don’t dress the same, or have a similar ‘non-chalant’ social media profile, or listen to Taylor Swift. I don’t like Taylor Swift, and it’s satisfying to find others who also don’t like her so much. What a silly guilty pleasure to have. Apart from this though, I really think we need to stop looking so much into what others like or don’t like. Because only around 100 years ago I doubt they were worrying about who wore Burberry best and who didn’t. People probably liked people a lot more, I think. I could say we need to go back to basics with media consumption, but having the opportunity to present such an array of creative works so easily online helps us learn and appreciate every single day.

Hm, it’s a strange one, I’m not sure what the answer is here. I think we should try not to judge others on this, even the “oh my goodness, you haven’t heard of xyz? You haven’t watched xyd?! You haven’t seen that meme? What’s wrong with you ?”. See, it sounds lame, and I doubt our predecessors or damn right those homosapiens from that T shirt were worrying about that. Enjoy what you enjoy, and don’t make assumptions of others just because they enjoy something else.

I’m laughing at the irony of me indeed posting this online and contributing to the millions of articles already out there. There’s probably one about the exact same thing. But more or less there’s no way they’d write it in the same style as me, and hence we see the luxury and beauty of being able to have free range over whatever the hell we want to read, view, listen to, or watch.
