The mischaracterization of people from PJO is so funny, but ESPECIALLY from HOO onward like.

Hazel, who’s always ready to fight in the same way Percy is? Hazel, who made it explicitly clear she probably would’ve rocked Octavian’s shit had he not been blackmailing her? Who gets so angry on behalf of the people she loves, to the point where she doesn’t forgive those who have wronged them? Who Percy described as cursing up a storm in one of their first interactions? Who’s been shown time and time again to be FAST to anger? That Hazel?

Or Nico, who’s “a misunderstood emo. A small bean. Cute like a wet cat and innocent like a bunny.”

Nico, who’s cannonically described by most characters as “scary and unnerving?” Nico, who, for a long time, is one of the angriest characters in the series? Who’s only sassy and sarcastic because it took him FOUR YEARS to mellow out? Who’s described as being one of the most powerful demigods, who a lot of people still consider the scariest? Who’s come into his own as a character from TTC to TSATS? That Nico?

Or Annabeth who’s, “cold and calculating. Doesn’t show emotion or express herself”

Annabeth, who’s the most expressive person in the series? Who cries in EVERY book in the OG series? Whether it be for Luke, or Thalia, or Percy, or Chiron, or a literal DOG? Who expresses passion like no other when it comes to architecture and her other interests? Who’s expressed compassion for people she didn’t know? People who at times posed a threat to her? Who isn’t afraid to be angry, or happy, or snide, or rude, or excited, or scared, or ecstatic? Who’s been unapologetically herself since the moment the series started? That’s who doesn’t show emotion? That’s Annabeth?

Does anyone else ever see a super powered individual who may or may not already have angst in relation to getting said powers and say: now time to add some more angst, proceeding to add little ways the power permanently affects them for more drama and stuff like “am I even human anymore” ?

well, long time followers will tell you that im fond of obsessive tropes, however cringey they may be, and monsters (beauty and the beast type stuff)

a few others i like (depending on context and characters involved) are:

smitten, head over heals in love x super oblivious and thinks they're just being friendly, unknowing of just how in love the other is (surely they're just being nice)

love at first sight, but only for one of them

killer in love with their prey

monster king x human princess (both reciprocal on the princesses part or not)

down bad bully who starts out really mean, but the one time they push their crush too far (and said crush is genuinely upset and crying/ blows up at them), they begin to feel real, genuine guilt and attempt to make it up to them <– this one reeeeally depends on the characters involved

cold unfeeling one with incredible power and lack of respect for life is taught to love by the kind one, and shows devotion to the kind one through bloodshed

one side thinks the other is chill or ambivalent towards them until they find or hear or see some damning evidence that the other is madly in love with them, then has to pretend like nothing has changed

Not wealthy, but you all were always able to buy what you needed and never went hungry, not too shabby of a lifestyle

You were neighbors and your parents each ran their own businesses

I think Jean’s mom is a seamstress and father is a cobbler (I have no idea if we know anything about them in canon so please just go with it)

The Reader’s parents are bakers

So Jean and Reader grow up together and do everything together

They help each other with their shop chores so they can finish quicker and go out ti do whatever they feel like that day

Whether it’s swimming, painting, reading, or laying in the grass outside of the district and watching the clouds

They like to talk about their futures, they joke about making it as traveling musicians or the day they’ll take over their parents businesses

But it all changes when Maria falls

Everything gets more crowded, more expensive, and the future a lot more uncertain

The land lord raises the rent on their parents’ stores

Jean sets his eyes on becoming an MP

The reader begs him not to, they yell and scream at each other but Jean’s always been stubborn and in the end his idea really isn’t a bad one

Interior MPs make more money than anyone else

Forget Trost, Jean could buy them all a place within Sina, Far away from the clutches of the titans

And Interior MPs with spouses? Well they made even more…

So it was settled

Jean would join the military and give his all in the cadet corps so he’d get a chance at the MPs

And after he graduated at the top of his class?

He was going home and marrying his best friend

And Jean would do it all, gladly do it, give his mind, his body, his soul so the people he loves have the best shot on this hell on earth
