Application Rejected
When Danny adopted Cujo he saw him as a puppy, which was a little sad considering the implications. He always thought Cujo was the only one who had stayed, the only one whose soul had persisted. He thought Cujo was alone.
He was wrong. Not all adult dogs and puppies stayed, of course. But many had. Cujo was simply the only one who decided to return to the world of the living, probably because of his obsession with his toy.
One day Cujo showed him where they were all hiding; Danny knew that those dogs had not stayed for the same reason as Cujo, they probably had a myriad of different reasons, and that was fine.
The problem was that excluding some of the adult dogs (that obviously were fine on their own and didn't care), there were many puppies similar to Cujo running around in need of affection and he couldn't adopt them all (besides, Cujo would definitely get jealous). And while many ghosts agreed to take a couple, it wasn't all of them, so Danny did something extreme.
He held an adoption fair in Amity, which was a smashing success. He just forgot that a lot of people in Amity...were usually traveling, and the ghost puppies would follow.
Then, a few days later when a scowling guy showed up (he obviously wasn't part of the general Amity Park population) and demanded a "bright green" puppy, Danny said no and refused his application. He couldn't trust someone with no knowledge with a ghost dog. Although he did offer him a course to learn about their care.
Damian Wayne was offended with his overall assessment. He was obviously the right person to care for one of those pups. So he set out to prove that to the boy in front of him, without hesitation.

Love the take. Love the implications.
Maybe liminals are naturally angry.
Maybe ecto craves to be in the zone (the dead are made to be in the land of the dead, the ecosystem of the living simply isn't built for them). So liminals - who alive but not quite?
They feel out of place.
Like an itch under the skin of a pebble in your shoe.
Annoying.
Constant.
Wrong.
Worst of all, this is an annoyance that can't quite be fixed.
Not normally, at least.
Ever since the portal came on, the people of Amity have grown steadily more liminal.
When the city was taken into the Zone itself? There isn't a single non-liminal left.
Locals become moodier when they leave Amity. Journeys away are infrequent, short. Why would anyone move away when home is so perfect?
And Amity is perfect.
Because Amity Park? The location itself is liminal.
The land, the air, every inch of amity is halfway to the Ghost Zone.
The portal may be in the Fenton basement, but the veil is thin throughout.
The entire city dwelt in the Zone - briefly, perhaps. And perhaps there was a shield, sure.
A shield can only do so much.
To dance with death you must touch it, and Amity Park has been dancing since the day Danny Fenton tripped in his parents' portal.
A liminal city - a place just as alive as it's citizens. Just as touched by death.
Amity Park is Home to liminals.
Home in the way the Far Frozen is to the Yetis.
Home in the way Dora's Kingdom is to her people.
Amity Park is the Living Lair of Liminals. Phantom is their Frostbite in ghostly matters, Vlad is their Frostbite in living matters.
For all the man comes across as sketchy, Vlad Masters is a competent mayor.
(Vlad hardly notices himself becoming less hostile to Jack as the ecto levels of the city increase.
Hardly notices when he no longer wants to kill the man, when plans switch from murder and marriage to finding ways to fight both of the elder Fentons.
Hardly notices how much he holds back against both, more playing than fighting. How his goal switches from 'remove obstacle and obtain human' to 'bond-fight with frightmates to make them stronger and also Quality Time.'
Jazz does. Danny does.
Jazz adds a section on dehumanization (deghostification?) of human lives as a form of paranormal bias potentially as a response to and expression of past-self-loathing to her thesis.
Danny just breathes a sigh of relief that the fruitloop might actually be done with the whole murder thing - as weird as it would be to accept him as an actual sort of uncle-figure, it'd be better than worrying about his dad dying and his mom being kidnapped all the time.
Not that either of them realize the cause of this. Amity is very oblivious to its increasing liminality, including Jazz and the trio. Even with Valerie's Suit Powers smacking them in the face.)
Is it any wonder Jason doesn't want to leave? When he spent so long feeling awful he forgot what it was like to feel okay?
To feel better than just okay?
-------------------------------
Funny enough, what brings them to Amity is the same thing that once kept them away.
Amity Park has been a ghost-themed tourist city for as long as it's existed, stuffed with haunted houses, spooky cemeteries, and eerie scenery. When the city started reporting 'ghost attacks' on their news channels, the JL didn't bother to check in.
After all, they hadn't gotten any distress calls about it. It was just another cash grab to lure in tourists.
(The GIW feared the JL would be 'overly sympathetic.' Rerouting JL line calls would be a problem. But calls out of Amity Park? The GIW ensured their attempts to reach anyone but the GIW never got off the ground.)
This belief suffered damage when tourism dropped.
It wasn't just a matter of a poor season either. Hardly noticeable at first, truthfully.
Reports of haunted houses in the city closing here, a ghost show being denied a request to view a house there, tourist reviews reporting a sense of hostility from the locals there.
It snowballed.
They only really noticed because Tim decided to cyber stalk Vlad Masters after he declined Bruce's invite to a gala - an invite the man had been angling for for literal years.
Having become a mayor recently, the man should have found networking all the more valuable.
Tim started his research by looking at the city itself: Amity Park, 'The Most Haunted City in America.'
The official city website was just a few dozen red flags in a trench coat.
The home page read (Un)Welcome to Amity Park. There were standard tabs - news, utilities, tourism.
News showed the same funny ghost theme, except...the article were all played straight. Masters' official addresses to the city even played the ghost topic straight - there were videos. He talked like he was serious about 'installing a new lattice of ghost shields to prevent damage to roads and sidewalks in future attacks.'
Utilities included 'Public ecto-device updates & maintenance' as well as a personal version. The sections were fully functional and the forms would actually be sent to the city.
A quarter of the city's budget claimed to be dedicated to this service.
The tourism page managed to be the most alarming.
Amity Park's ghost theme was due to it being a tourist trap.
The tourism section stated, in large, bold, underlined letters:
Closed for Tourism
"Of the 257 tourists to visit Amity in the previous month, 2 died and another 19 were seriously injured due to a failure to adhere to local warnings and safety practices. If you must visit Amity Park please obtain a brochure from City Hall immediately and read it in full. Take care to adhere to all safety measures when within city limits. Thank You."
What followed was a long list of 'closed' businesses - all tourist traps and attractions, plus a few hotels (it hadn't been a large city to begin with. More of a town at 'barely scraping 20K people').
At the very end was a list of resources for people who "intended to visit anyway, or to move to the city" with a few small bed & breakfasts and houses for sale or rent.
If the 'attacks' were meant to drum up tourism, why shoot down would-be tourists at the gate?
Looking at footage from the 'attacks' only added to his suspicions.
Early on, the supposed ghosts were staticky blurs of color, barely noticeable on the screen.
Fiddling with the image resolution and sharpness didn't have any affect on it - though it did make the trees and cars in the background clearer.
Eventually he gave it up as a lost cause and started looking through the rest of the videos - and boy were there plenty of them.
Going in chronological order, he noticed a trend.
Over time, video and audio quality got worse. Like the camera itself was slowly becoming distorted.
Except much of it was amateur phone footage, meaning every camera in Amity Park would have to be degrading at the same speed.
Then, it worsened drastically all at once.
One video was slightly blurry and staticky throughout, but he could still make out what things were well enough.
The next video? Incomprehensible.
Noise and color and blurs.
Staticky-noise that, if he listened closely, almost sounded like whispers and screams and cries.
There was nothing recognizable.
It made his hair stand on end.
He got back to digging.
There wasn't much else to find. Or rather, what he found was a lack of what he should be finding.
Locals' social media pages were all dark, chat rooms for the city's people were inaccessible no matter how hard he tried. It was like the firewalls were coming alive to eat his code when he tried to force his way in.
Trying to hack a device in the city was worse; whatever code showed up on the screen was a type or OS he recognized. It gave him malware.
He almost went nuclear on his computer to protect his data, though he thankfully found a built-in off-switch before he had to do that.
Still.
Something was up with Amity Park.
He had to know what.
---------------------------
When Tim debriefs the rest of the family on the weird situation, Bruce assigns him to investigate personally.
"Constantine checked in on the place a little less than two years ago to ensure the attacks were just tourism grabs, but it's possible he missed something. Or that the situation changed."
Going out of the city on a mission alone is, of course, not an option.
What better cover story to visit the city inconspicuously than Tim Drake-Wayne and Jason Todd going on a bro-bonding road trip to a city that explicitly asks people not to visit.
It seems like something an eccentric rich person would do as a family outing - good for the mission and good press.
Jason was rather in need of more news appearances. He'd only made two notable headlines since his 'miraculous return' - to the public eye, at least - and keeping his head down now that people knew he was back would only lead to more questions.
Half-hearted as he was about it, Jason agreed.
Dp x Dc prompt
Amity Parkers stare (slightly) hostile at any outsider that walks into their city
(it's theirs and strangers just keep walking in)
This inclides Tim when he and Jason have to go through it / investigate it
Which means the passing glances, resulting in double takes and surprised staring are weirding jason really out
It's like he passes as one of their own at first glance
(the green in his veins sings at being around community)

Pt2Danny Accidentally becomes the Ghost king, the president and the biggest threat to Bruce's social status.
Pt 1 link:
Part 2 Danny becomes the president.
Amity Parkers are the most adaptable people in the world. They're barely fazed by anything.
If you throw them into a situation that they are very unfamiliar with, it'll only take them five minutes to adjust before they start planning on how to live with this situation.
The Amity Parker mindset is: "Oh, I guess this is happening now."
So when the ghosts start attacking? The Amity Parkers immediately look for ways to avoid and protect themselves from the ghosts, not even questioning why ghosts are real. The only thing they think about is, "Damn, there's a ghost. I hope it doesn't attack the theater; I really want to see that movie."
When Phantom had his debut as a hero? The Amity Parkers started looking for ways to help, ways to keep out of his way (some to try and keep him away). The thought running through their minds was, "So this one is trying to protect us? Guess we have a hero now."
Amity Parkers don't spend their time getting mad at the sudden change of routine, the sudden loss of normalcy, or the broken buildings. Amity Parkers don't ask why and how ghosts are real, don't question if all ghosts are evil or if there are some good ghosts, and don't even think of how to get rid of them completely (they're part of the community now). They only look for ways to keep themselves from getting overshadowed. They definitely don't spend time thinking if the ghosts could bring more danger in the future or looking for more information for possible contingency plans. They aren't Batman; they believe that if the present is good, then the future will be better.
Point is, Amity Parkers are resilient and adaptable. They will take everything in stride and focus on the present. So what if some ghosts attack and block the street? They need to get to work, so they'll just drive around it.
After the whole Pariah Dark thing, they become liminal, gaining some form of super strength and glowing eyes (symptoms vary based on how strong the radiation on a person is). A normal human would think, "OH MY GOD, I'M DYING!" The Amity Parkers went, "Oh, cool, this is cool, but now I'm having a problem with opening doors without breaking the knob. Maybe the Fentons could do something about it, make stronger knobs or something."
When some babies started gaining some inhuman features? Some start floating? (Sharper ears, fangs. Babies adapt to things faster, so they get more ecto radiation.) The Amity parents went, "Is there a way to keep my child on the ground without leashing them like a dog?" Then proceeded to make a help blog for other Amity parents dealing with the same things.
So when the ghosts start becoming more of the community rather than enemies, the Amity Parkers just shrugged and asked for a book of ghost customs so they don't accidentally offend them.
When the Fentons started making ghost and human-safe items, no one even questioned why Danny had so much money and was funding his parents' research.
When Danny's name was almost (if not) in everything and he seemed to own most of the town, no one questioned it.
But everything changed when the GIW came again. Even the Amity Parkers weren't expecting this change.
The GIW waltzed in, claiming the liminal town was theirs to play with and started attacking everyone, including the Amity Parkers. The Amity Parkers went full defense mode, protecting the ghosts that were now their friends/neighbors/lovers, making sure that nothing would harm them.
They learned that it was Vlad who called on the GIW. He was pissed and petty that the crown was taken from him and decided to report his liminal town, pretending to be a "concerned mayor" who "wants his people to be healed."
The Amity Parkers were mad... they were furious.
And in the moment they saw Phantom fall to the ground, unconscious, and watched him de-transform from the hero King Phantom to the kid that owns and funds the most helpful companies in town, something changed. Something in the Amity Parkers changed.
Keep in mind that Amity Parkers don't change; they remain the same as they adapt to whatever change the world throws at them.
NEVER ONCE HAD THE AMITY PARKERS DECIDED TO MAKE A CHANGE THEMSELVES.
The first thing they changed? Their mentality. NEVER AGAIN WERE THEY GOING TO LET OUTSIDE FACTORS CHANGE THEIR LIVES. THIS IS THEIR TOWN AND IT WILL STAY THAT WAY.
God help the GIW for being their first victims.
An angry town of liminals, ghosts, and borderline gods, who have access to the Fentons' very destructive and effective technology.
Vs.
The regular GIW humans with anti-ghost tech they stole from the Fentons and nothing against liminals.
The battle was a swift victory, destroying not only the GIW in town but also all of its branches (and Vlad) with almost no traces of them even existing in the first place.
The change didn't stop there, however.
The Amity Parkers banded together with Team Phantom and the Fentons (minus Danny, as he is healing and shouldn't know about their plans; the hero should rest) and took out some of that ghost king money that Danny's trying to get rid of. They crashed the UN meeting while kidnapping the president of America.
The Amity Parkers have decided that Amity Park is theirs; it belongs to the people and its heroes. But how is it supposed to be truly theirs if they have to follow the rules of the country that funded the GIW?
A couple of death threats, bribing, more death threats and more money bribing to make sure the anti ecto acts are gone and the League of Bitches (Phantom called the JL that, and the Amity Parkers decided it was true) doesn't know about it, and a couple of hours in the nightmare realm (courtesy of Fright Knight, who happily participated when he found out what happened), and Amity Park was now its own independent country.
They decided that Tucker was to be a main part of security, letting him put up another firewall like the GIW did to make sure no one knows about their country. They don't want the League of Bitches or any outsider in the King's Haunt. It's theirs now; it belongs to the Ghost King of Amity Park, outsiders be gone.
And when it came to deciding who would be leader? There was no hesitation as they wrote down:
Daniel "Danny Phantom" Fenton, King of the Infinite Realms, King and President of Amity Park.

Finally Getting Help (prt. 10)
Mastterpost
A/N: Thank you all for the well wishes about my dog. Unfortunately he didn't make it and pass away Tuesday morning in the vet's office. I was able to get some writing done but I don't have the energy to edit. Let me know if you find any mistakes.
-----
Jason: hey, thanks for the gun and the tech, it's really cool.
Danny: new phone who dis đ
Jason: I hope you haven't given too many people guns in the last couple days.
Danny: no I haven't, thanks for texting me Jason. Have you got a chance to try the gun?
Jason: not on anything moving, I've been doing some target practice to get a feel for it though. Looking forward to when I can test it on Vlad.
Danny: aww are you going to avenge my honor đ„ș
Jason: if you want me too. I'll bring you his head if you want me too.
Danny: đ„° you're so sweet. I wouldn't say no to seeing him suffer for what he's done but don't get yourself in any trouble okay? And if you do call me right away. I'll come rescue you đ
Jason: hey I'm the one offering to protect you!Â
Danny: we can protect each other. And fight each other, can you come spar again soon?
Jason: I wouldn't call that sparring, more like brawling.
Danny: eh potato potato, do you want to come fight me again?
Jason: if demon brat won't kill me for it, sure. Can I take you out for dinner afterwards? I have some questions
Danny: It's a date! Just tell me when
Jason: Day after tomorrow? I have some work to take care of first.
Danny: Sounds great! And it is a date right? You don't mind that I'm going to have kids?
Jason: the kids aren't a deal breaker I promise but let's not jump the gun okay? We're going to be family through B so we don't want this to blow up in our faces. Let's hang out, take it slow, see how it goes. You need to be careful about who you let into your life now anyway, you can't just let anyone around you and the babies.
Danny: don't tell me what to do đ but you're right. I'm bad about rushing into things. I'm still looking forward to it.
Danny: By the way Jazz uploaded the power point she made about Liminals and Ghosts to the batâs server thing. You have access to that right? You should read that before we meet and I can fill in the gaps.
Jason: Sounds good, Iâll have a look at it and Iâm looking forward to it too. I'll be there at 5 so we can spar before dinner. Don't forget to warn B and your guard dog.
Danny: Damian is a good kid. I'll let them know.
Danny stared at his new phone Tim had given him with apprehension. The chat with Jason had gone very well, and Danny was glad he reached out but there were other people he really needed to reach out to and he was⊠frankly scared. Sam and Tucker were his best friends and had always been there for him but they both had tempers. Would they be mad that he hadnât told them he was pregnant? Would they be upset he had left Amity and wasnât planning on coming back?
He needed to reach out though, the longer he waited the harder it would be to talk to them, and things wouldnât stay calm as they were now. Vlad would be back to cause trouble again and even though the JLD had control of the portal but he was sure his rogues would find their way through eventually. Vlad had his own portal anyway, and Danny wouldnât put it past him to open it just to annoy Danny. Maybe try and weaken him a little so Vlad could swoop in and pick him off.
Today was quiet, he needed to take this chance. He sighed and got up off the edge of his bed where he was sitting and ducked out of his room. He didnât want to do this alone, so he wasnât surprised when he found himself in the library where Jazz was studying.Â
He sat down across from her and reached across, laying his hand, palm up on the table. Without looking up from her book she reached over and placed her hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. He smiled at her and took a deep breath before putting on his earbuds and sending a message in the group chat.
Danny: When you guys are ready can we call?
Jazz phone went off too and she checked it, smiled at Danny, and then silenced the chat and went back to her book. She didnât need to be part of this call but at least she knew what he was doing.Â
Sam: Yes, let me just grab Tuck. Heâs playing Doomed.
Danny took a deep breath and put down his phone while he waited for them to call and tried not to panic.
When the phone buzzed he jumped and reached for it, joining the call quickly.Â
âHey guys,â He said, awkwardly, waving with the hand that wasnât holding the phone.
âHey yourself! What the heck happened Danny?! Basically the whole town joined in in chasing Vlad when we found out what he did but why did we have to find out on tv?! Why didnât you tell us?!â Sam said, but at least she just seemed stressed, not actually angry.
âIâm sorry guys,â Danny said, wincing a little when he heard Tucker sniffling a little. âI hadnât told anyone yet. I hadnât even fully accepted it yet honestly.
âI still wasnât ready to talk about it, bur Cass is really good at reading people's body language and I guess she clocked that I was carrying them by how I kept unconsciously touching my stomach. When she asked me about it it sorta broke through my denial and I broke down which started the ball rolling on⊠all this,â He said with a vague gesture.â
âAll this is right!The justice league really brought the hammer down on Amity. Theyâre dismantling the GIW and really pissed at the government and basically all the adults in the town for letting this happen. And they arrested your parents!â Sam said sounding almost excited.
âSam! That was really insensitive! Theyâre still his parents, what if he didnât know!?â Tucker broke in furiously.Â
âNo itâs alright I knew, Jazz told me. Sheâs here with me,â He said squeezing her hand though she wasnât paying attention to the call.
âOkaaay so where is Here?â Tucker asked warily.Â
âYa are you safe? We havenât seen you since all this went down! Are you really with Bruce Wayne?â Sam asked sounding wary.
âYes I am. Heâs got a foster license and since his kids were the one that found out what was going on it just made sense that Iâd stay here.â
âAnd heâs Not another Fruitloop?â Sam asked warily. âYou need to be careful with these rich people you know? Theyâre basically all crazy!â
âSam youâre rich,â Danny pointed out, amused.Â
âYa, and? My point stands!â
âFair enough,â Danny laughed. âBut no, I did some snooping the first night I was here and it seems okay. And since heâs got close ties to the Justice League he was able to get the help we really needed, and he says he might be able to help me meet Martian Manhunter!â
âDonât fanboy out too bad,â Tucker teased him.
âOh ya? And what if I helped you meet Tim Drake? Would you not be just as bad,â Danny accused Tucker.
âTouche,â Tucker said. âCould you though?â
âI mean maybe? Heâs my foster brother now and he seems cool. You two are my best friends, if Iâm going to stay Iâm sure you could come visit me and meet all of them.âÂ
âAre you really going to stay there though? I mean once the GIW and everything is cleared out you could stay with either of us. I know my parents arenât your biggest fans but I know theyâd let you stay,â Sam said sounding worried.Â
âAnd I know my family doesn't have a ton of money but they adore you, weâd make it work,â Tucker added looking worried.
âNo, guys I really appreciate the offer but⊠I donât want to come back to Amity. The Justice League said they shut down the portal and I really need a fresh start I think. I think Iâd rather stay here. Jazz too, sheâs gonna study at Gotham U and intern at Arkham,â He said. She looked up at the mention of her name and gave him a small smile.
âIâm sorry, you guys are my best friends and Iâll miss you, but there are too many⊠memories in Amity you know?â
âYa I get that,â Sam said, looking sad and distant.
âWe can still call, and play Doomed together, and visit on breaks!â Tucker said, his chipper tone sounding a little forced. âWeâre going to say friends!â He insisted and Danny smiled.
âOf course we will Tuck,â He promised. They might grow apart with the distance between them, but he hoped not, they really were his best friends.
âYa, my parents will probably be thrilled about this development and want me to come over all the time. They love the Waynes,â Sam chuckled though her optimism also seemed a bit forced. Of course she was more of a pessimist, she probably thought they would drift apart, but knew Danny needed them right now.Â
âSoo whatâs been going on in Amity since I left?â Danny asked, letting them ramble about the drama, the rumours, and the bullshit that was the bullies and everyone in the school sudden;y pretending they cared about Danny soooo much.
After they finished telling him about it there were a few beats of silence and Danny was just about to suggest they hang up when Sam spoke up again.Â
âSo, what actually happened with Vlad? If you donât want to talk about it thatâs okay butâŠâ
âNo, itâs okay. Itâs not what- what youâd think. Itâs superhero bullshit really. When I wouldnât be his son he decided to try and clone me, you met Dani with an I right? She was one of the clones. But he didnât know I was trans, and my DNA got all fucked up in the portal so none of the clones were stable. I have no idea how many he tried to make that died. But when I found out it was because he had lied to Dani and told her he needed me to stabilize her clone brothers. It was a batch of ten.
âBut he lied, he didnât actually care about stabilizing them, he was going to let them all die. I was only able to save the two that were most stable and only by taking their cores into myself. So Iâm not normal pregnant, Iâm ghost pregnant.Â
What is my life huh?â He finished, chuckling awkwardly.Â
âOh fuck,â Sam said her shoulders slumping a little even as her expression went through a range of emotions. âThatâs better in a way but still a whole different type of fucked up! I hope they catch him soon.â
âI hope so too but I donât think they will,â Danny said with a shrug. âNot before he tries something else. Iâm not lucky enough to be able to just move past this,â He said with a bitter little laugh.
âWell, we can still hope. And even if he does cause trouble you have more allies now! Youâve been able to handle everything else heâs thrown at you basically on your own, with the Justice League behind you I know thereâs nothing you canât handle. I mean, Vlad is kind of pathetic anyway,â Tucker encouraged making Danny smile.Â
âYa, youâre right, Iâm sure itâll be fine. Thanks guys,â he said fondly.Â
âOf course dude! Weâre here for you!â Tucker said.
âItâs really good to hear from you too. Donât be a stranger okay?â Sam said, a bit worried.
âOf course not, Iâll keep you posted I promise.â Danny assured before they said their goodbyes and he hung up.Â
He put down his phone and leaned back with a sigh, closing his eyes for a moment. Next to him Jazz chuckled and there was a soft snap as she closed her book.Â
âYou did well little brother,â She told him, getting up from her seat she moved behind him and rested her hands on his shoulders.
âHow do you know? You werenât listening.â
âNo, but you reached out to your friends and had an honest conversation which isnât easy. You did well,â She reiterated, squeezing his shoulders.
âWell thanks Jazz. I hope that theyâre right that we wonât lose touch, and Iâll be able to handle whatever Vlad does,â He grumbled.Â
âIâm sure we will,â Jazz promised. âAnd either way thereâs no point in worrying about it now. Has Jason texted you yet?â She asked, giving Danny the excuse he needed to change the subject and launch into his more petty worries about the upcoming date as she sat back down to listen.

An off-shoot to an off-shoot!
Danny left the human world for the Ghost Zone, as the Crown Prince he has quite a lot of responsibilities, much more than he would like in all honesty.
He barely even knew there was a high society of the Ghost Zone, some of which he has met and others he's just questioning the existence of.
He was already tired of the amount of marriage proposals he was sent and had to sort through, and there was still 3 more mountains to go!
He was honestly looking forward to the calls from his two best friends when he was finally able to get a break from his duties as prince. Never has the sound of his friends' voices felt oh so sweet.
Sometimes he visits Sam when he managed to convince Pariah, or when there just wasn't any work to be done. He tried to visit Tucker too but, when he tried to leave Amity Park he just... couldn't???
There was something just, stopping him. He couldn't leave, like some kind of barrier that prevented from moving even smidge past the line.
He just left it be.
He heard about Tucker being a villain and decided he wanted in. But since he couldn't leave the boundary of Amity Park for whatever reason, he needed Tucker to plant a series of tidbits of knowledge that'll allow people to summon him.
Tucker very obviously agreed.
But they decided to have a bit of fun here. Tucker- who now goes by Daedalus as his villain name- has history with the Ghost Prince, who is the 'hero' to Daedalus' villain.
Daedalus does not like Phantom and constantly tries to neutralize him, which is a far cry from his usual non-lethal tactics. While Phantom, on the other hand, considers Daedalus to be his best friend and closest consort and often ignores said attempts of neutralization or plays it off.
So Tucker left behind bits and pieces of the knowledge to summon the Ghost Prince in random parts of the city, which are discreetly yet highly guarded. Then overtime certain people began to find those bits and pieces and Daedalus, in regard to such an event has notably gotten more panicky and worried.
With each and every sighting he's in he seemed to be searching for something and used the chaos he brought to search for it. To which the heroes have been taking notice of.
They think that he was searching for something to use for his next plan or something.
Then the Justice League got word of a group of cultists looking to summon the Ghost Prince to take over the mortal world, which they obviously couldn't let happen. So then they locate and find the group of cultists (and as usual in these ideas) they fail to stop the summoning in time.
But as the summoning circle was shinning and the room got colder, someone unexpected showed up.
Daedalus. (Imagen he's in the floaty chair thing that Eggman uses constantly)
Who, surprisingly. Is just a 16 year old. (This takes place in the second year of Sam's little isolation thing.)
Who then proceeded to get irritated and screamed at the cultists about how they managed to find the necessary components to summon that he specifically split into pieces to avoid this situation happening!
Then the Ghost Prince pops into existence, who then calmly looked around the room and then into the sky, his indifferent, cold expression faded away into a bright beaming expression and then went:
"Daedalus! My best buddy!"
And then had to dodge a blast from said villain. Then they proceeded to have a battle, quite- no, very lethal on Daedalus' part and not so much on the Ghost Prince's part.
It was... reminiscent of a dog and cat, really.
Until in the midst of said fight Phantom exclaimed his woes about the Ghost responsibilities and then Daedalus just kinda, stopped trying to kill him and then made Danny explain what problem he has and then gave him the solution to said problem and goes back to fighting.
The Justice League feels like they should intervene here, but they also don't know if they should.
Said problem was solved by Daedalus getting hungry and proposing to stop the fight to go and eat at a food place he knows that's very good. Phantom agrees, claiming that he hasn't had human food in ages and then they go and eat and forget about the Justice League.
Who then questioned why the Prince of Ghosts and the villain that a few of them has been fighting are literal children.

Fictober23 Prompt: 28 - "I may not get another chance to say this."
Fandom: DPxDC
Rating: T
Warnings: -
A/N: Plays into the Forgotten Twin AU setting. Basically for this: Danny was sent to the Fentons as a mission when he was seven and Damian forgot about it until someone found an old mission report from Danny. Their first meeting didn't go well⊠But Damian has his reasons wanting Danny to come to Gotham with him that are not all completely selfish. I tried to make this little scene sort of funny with a bit of angst in it.
"SoâŠ" Danny floated next to a giant Cujo while 'sitting' cross legged in the air doing his best to suppress the growing grin on his face. "Are you convinced yet?"
He heard an inaudible grumble and laughed doing a little air flip before 'laying' in the air and resting his head in his hands. "I didn't catch that Dami, can you repeat that?"
"Get him off me!"
"Who? Cujo?" The dog licked Danny across his entire head before laying down on and making himself comfortable on his twin brother who grunted and Danny chuckled. "Didn't you say handling a ghost animal won't be any different than handling an actual animals?"
His twin grunted once more but did not say anything else. Danny grinned as he looked away from Damian and Cujo towards the rest his twin hand brought with him to Amity, he hadn't bothered learning their names when Damian had introduced them the first, second, third and fourth time. All in an attempt to convince him, he was surprised that his biological father didn't appear before him as often as Damian did after he told them no.
Red helmet guy, Danny believed his civilian name was something with J, was currently getting chased around the Main Street by Johnny on his motorcycle and Shadow trying to trip the poor guy up. He had heard the guy curse and complain very loudly that he was not happy about his bullets not working.
Another guy in blue who's hero name was something with Wing but his nickname was Dick, a fun fact that funnily enough made his name the easiest to remember, was currently doing a bunch of flips dodging Skulker. He wasn't entirely sure but with the way Skulker was glaring he was pretty sure that the other ghost was now hunting the guy out of annoyance for real instead of just as a favor to Danny.
The third guy Damian had brought with him to Amity, who's hero name was also that of a dinner, was locked in a weird tech battle with Technus. Danny was pretty sure he had heard that guy yell something about upgrading Wayne Tech to the point that Technus would never be able to take control of it. Good luck with that, Danny thought, so far his parents' and with his own ectoplasm infused tech were the only ones that could resist that ghost's control.
"Danyal, this is ridiculous!" Looking toward Cujo again, Danny found that Damian had managed to dig his way out from under him.
"Well you're the one that bet that you could handle some 'silly' ghosts, to convince me to go to Gotham with you. That there wouldn't be a problem if I left Amity Park behind." Danny moved to float before his brother spread his arms out. "Do you see now that I can't just leave? That I have a responsibility here? That I have a perfectly good life here? You didn't care for years that I lived here and now suddenly out of the blue you keep pestering me to come with you to Gotham."
Danny heard something muffled but he hadn't been able to make out what exactly his twin had said. Instead of asking he slowly floated down until his feet touched the ground and then proceeded to sit with his knees drawn in so that his head could rest on them on the ground. His head was slightly tilted as he watched his twin blankly, the same way grandfather had him do when he had been way younger.
Danny knew this was a habit left over from the League, something Jazz wouldn't have been able to help him get rid off without Damian around.
Damian was obviously struggling, trying to push that giant ghost dog off him so he could have a proper talk with his twin, muttering how a 'ghost' dog could be this heavy or solid. Yet even if Damian was late, there were things he needed to explain. Things he needed Danny to know, things he had only learned after he had started living with father, after he had left the League for good. Even if he didn't deserve his twin's forgiveness, he finally could be the brother his twin deserved. Besides he had made a promise to his twin's sister on his second visit, when Jasmine had been the one to sit him down and talk when Danyal refused. She tried to figure out why Damian had appeared so obsessed about taking Danny with him to Gotham and in the end she had made him promise something for Danyals health.
"I may not get another chance to say this. With you pinned under Cujo and your siblings distracted by my rogues this might be my only chance for now. I was convinced I hated you yet was loyal to a default until Jazz thought me I actually didn't hate you but cared in a messed up way." Danny started watching how his twin stilled. "It took Jazz exactly one year to mostly undo the mindset the league trained into me, she shouldn't have to but she wanted to for her new little brother and took all the steps needed to ensure my mental well being when she was nine and I seven. After that year I was sorta lost. A limbo between wanting a normal life and the duty that had been trained into me towards you. I didn't know what to do and then Tucker picked up the slack, showing me what 'normal' was. Well after I sort of went feral on Dash during my first day in grade school."
Damian looked up at his twin who wasn't even looking at him but sported a far away look. Seeing but unseeing at the same time as he remembered a childhood he knew nothing about. "I kept sending reports, not out of duty but hoping to protect the live Jazz had offered me. When they stopped responding, I also stopped reporting and grew wary."
Laughing humorlessly Danny returned his gaze back on Damian. "At first I believed grandfather gave up on me. That he would send you to kill me. After all, I was just a disposable spare. But no one ever came."
"Me appearing after years must have been shocking." Damian admitted, by now he had given up trying to get that giant dog to move off him, less he embarrassed himself like his elder brothers were currently doing. "That was why you attacked without waiting to hear me out once we were in a secluded area during our first meeting."
"Can't blame me. I thought you were still with the League and brainwashed into the perfect hire grandfather wanted." Damian huffed at that causing Danny to chuckle lightheartedly.
"Valid reasoning." His twin agreed. The half ghost signaled to Cujo, the dog only tilting his head before licking his tongue over the entirety of Danny's head once more, not moving an inch off of Damian. "I would most likely have done the same if the roles had been reversed."
"I got a family here now, Damian and you got yours with our bio-Dad and all the siblings you have been trying to introduce to me." Danny voiced after a moment of silence between them. In that moment Cujo finally changed size and moved to cuddle up to his twin, giving Damian a chance to sit up on his own.
"Danyal."
"No Damian. I will not go with you to Gotham. You tried to show me that others could take care of Amity. But look at those you took with you? They don't even have the equipment needed to handle ghosts." Danny was looking over his shoulder watching Damian's brothers. "Amity Park is my responsibility, the same way Gotham is Batmans."
"It is a responsibility you shouldn't shoulder alone. Father has us in Gotham but who do you have?" Damian watched his twin from the corner of his eyes. "It would be better and safer for you to come with us."
"Damian, I can't just-"
"Jasmine has made me aware of the danger to your physical as well as mental health here the longer you stay. She has inquired with us to see if we could help you to start thinking more about your safety than the safety of everyone around you but yourself."
"Of course Jazz would. Look I can handle my parents and the GIW, it's not like-"
"She has stressed the fact that you have been returning injured more often. Injuries not caused by your ghost rogues." Damian cut him off. "You are a lot more like father than I am but there is one fact we both clearly have inherited from him in the same way?"
"Oh, really now?"
"We are both quite stubborn and won't give up easily." Damian smirked as he stood up and dusted off his pants. He took a couple steps forward towards his elder siblings before turning to look back at his twin. "I believe the bet was that if we could prove to you that other hero's could also handle these ghosts that you would reconsider your stance on coming to Gotham with us?"
"Wha-?"
"IT WORKED! He's in my mini computer! I trapped him in my mini computer!"
"HA! Not so fun getting chased by your own bike, is it?"
"Oh come on dude, this isn't that much of a tied situation. I just roped your own weapon around you. No need to be so headless."
Danny blinked slightly unbelieving, Johnny and Shadow where now the once getting chased around, Technus was apparently stuck in one single little computer and Skulker was tied up with one of his own weapons, aktual Skulker not the hulk of his mech suit.
"Danyal. I⊠We want to make it up to you. For all the years of mistreatment during our childhood as well as forgetting about your existence for nearly half a decade. All I am asking is to give father and me a chance. According to your sister, your foster parents as well as this GIW organization are posing a threat to you. My siblings are just as capable as father and I, so allow us to help your situation⊠please."
Once again Danny was blinking in disbelief, this time though he was blinking at his twin he hadn't seen in years, he had sort of resented at first but came to sort of love and miss him through Jazz's constant help and deprogrammed in his childhood.
"Wow⊠you must have swallowed a lot of your pride to say that." Danny couldn't help but mutter. None of his twin's behavior matched what he remembers from his childhood with the League but maybe it was better this way. What did Jazz tell him a couple days ago? To give it a fresh and new start? To at least listen to them?
"Danyal, if you speak one word of what I told you to any of them, I will kill you."
"And there is the Dami, I remember."
Damian clicked his tongue and Danny laughed as he finally stood up with Cujo in his arms to stand next to his twin.

Tiny ideas 2
----
1. Danny, in his new and very human black and white vigilante outfit runs past Penguin who had gotten soaked when a car full of hooligans wearing clown masks ran threw a puddle and splashed him.
Danny, not knowing who this was, tapped him on the shoulder as he ran past, running his intangibility through the man and letting the water fall off him, leaving him nice and dry again.
Penguin makes note to pay both back in very different ways.
----
2. Phantom, having been exorcisized from Amity Park and essentially banished and unable to return, roams around the multiverse looking for something to do.
Upon coming across the creepiest doll hes ever seen in a trash bin, he decides to mess with some local bat themed vigilantes and possesses the doll.
His first victim is Red Robin. Danny in all his creepy doll glory toddles out from behind a chimney as his target is running across the rooftop in his direction. Birdy stopped dead (heh) and stared at the doll.
Danny picked good. The doll was porcelain and cracked, missing one of its glass eyes and moss growing out of the empty socket and around various parts of its body. Its dress was once a lovely blue or green velvet but was now patchy and worn.
He turned the dolls head around at an unnatural angle to fix its gaze on the vigilante, its frozen polite smile adding to its eerieness, and in a moment of impulse said, "I'll see you soon." In the most creepiest little girl voice he could manage, using his ghost powers to make the words seem to drift upon the air towards the hero.
And just like that, doll Danny was gone.
RR almost frantically contacted oracle, "Did you see that?!"
"RR your signal cut out for a few minutes, backup should arrive soon. What happened?"
-----
3. Jason has been getting followed around by this wierd kid who is prime Brucie adoption bait. Kid kept jumping out of nowhere without anyone being able to sense him to ask him the weirdest questions (Damian was so startled that he nearly stabbed the kid on reflex. Not that he'd ever admit it).
The questions where things like, "Do you like books? What are your favorites? Can you cook? Do you like red heads? Do you like dogs? How opposed are you to having supervillian in-laws? What if they give you free experimental weaponry? ....how about some laser cannons and a jet?
Jason ends up getting kidnapped by this kid and dumped in from of this pretty girl as the kid tells her, "I went out and got you a boyfriend who won't try to murder you. Don't screw this up!" Before the kid ran out of the room.
Jazz was mortified.
Jason is still on the floor where he was deposited earlier, "So..." he begins, "I heard you like Jane Austin?"
-----
4. Phantom faked his death in front of the people of Amity Park, just to see how they would react to his passing and kind of in hopes of something changing. He couldn't keep sacrificing everything for these people, after all.
He did not like how the people reacted. Danny had to move away cause if he heard one more person say it was a good thing "that monster" died hes going to hurt someone.
Gotham seemed lovely this time of year and its one place that neither his parents or Vlad would visit. Vlad because if he tried anything at all the worlds greatest detective would ruin him and his parents because they once tried to hunt Batman and Robin only for Batman to terrify them to the point of never returning after they hurt his bird.
Danny got hired at Wayne Tech after submitting a wide range of devices but couldn't do much thanks to still being a minor. Thankfully Mr. Wayne was very generous and kept him housed and fed while he finished his online schooling and graduated early.
(Heavy angst for Danny.)
---
5. Danny hadn't seen Cujo in a while, which wasn't too unusual, but it have been a long time since hed seen his puppy and he was overdue a visit.
Danny pulled out his dog whistle, one normally used for emergencies and that Cujo would never ever ignore.
Only...Cujo didn't come. Now Danny goes on a journey to track down his missing dog. Following clues and trails across different realities, dimensions and universes to find his lost dog.
He did not expect to meet a bird themed vigilante along the way, not for them to insist he help him on his quest. Robin seemed very wary of the Infinite Realms the first time he entered them and had tons of questions. But bird boy was great company and Cujo would love him so Danny could deal.

DCxDP Prompt: Vast Supernatural Au
What If, The Infinite Realms Was More Then Ectoplasm? What If The Fenton's Only Acknowledged Ectoplasm And Obsessively Denied The Existence Of All The Other Types Of Energy And Material In The 'Ghost Zone'? What If Danny Wasn't Just Exposed To Ectoplasm, But Mana, Yoki, Spiritual Energy, Etc. What If He Started Cycling Out The Ectoplasm, And The Other Energys Became More Dominant? What If.... Danny Became A Deity?
Basically this is just a Au where the Ghost zone, is really the Infinite Realms, which encompasses multiple dimensions, Cosmic Forces, and Energys. So Danny got Flooded with and Fused with Mana, Developing a Magical Core, Yoki, effectively becoming a Yokai, Spiritual energy, becoming effectively a Nature Spirit. Due to his actions and being a hero, people start looking up to him, much praise and gratitude is shown to him. Due to this, the Yoki and Mana in his body effectively pick it up and steadily start shifting him from a simple Yokai, to a Kami.
But of course, he lacks a Shrine, and therego, cant fully transition, which is a Irritating process..
The few Gods and Kami that sense Danny's developing Divinity and actually care that its happening. (Look, there are always new gods and deitys forming, both from the living who have passed away, and from the imaginations of the living and dead. The Shinto, Norse, and Greeks are prime examples due to having them be made up of populations of God's and goddesses, who have children with each other. The few that Due, come to see the situation, on why a Kami was developing in America, and find a human with Ectoplasm, Yoki, Mana, and Spiritual energy saturating his body, practically a Partially dead Hanyo whos possessed his own dead body. The Ectoplasm is deteriorating and the Yoki is becoming more dominant. He lacks a Shrine. There are a pair of human Scientists who are clearly his parents who seem to obsessively believe that not only is he a ghost, but that ghosts are emotionless and evil, yet dont seem to acknowledge that the one they are shooting at is their son. Kami from Japan reach out to Princess Diana to help with the situation, something Athena and Artemis also want.
Clockwork is Kronos, but he's left his mortal flesh. He tells Danny of what he truly is and what he's becoming, revealing that Ghosts are barely a 10th of what exists in the infinite realms. He tells Danny how he needs a Shrine to properly ascend to Kamihood, but also that he needn't worry about losing his Humanity when he does. Danny himself can't make the Shrine, but Sam and Tucker can!
His appearance as a 'ghost' has changed, his Hazmat suit has shifted to a somewhat Shinto outfit thats a mix with his previous Hazmat suit, and a deterorated Hagoromo on his shoulders, showing he's reaching the rank of Kami. People see his changes and do research, and learn of Shinto and Buddhism practices, and Spiritualism in general. This leads to a good few in the community of Amity to making Phantom a small Shinto style Shrine. Cujo, who isn't a ghost dog, but is a Inugami here, ends up taking Residence at the Shrine, which steadily makes him change into a Komainu. Also, multiple Cats start showing up and living at the Shrine, something Danny actually likes alot, to the point that he, as Phantom, starts building some cat houses around his Shrine.
Over time, as Jack and Maddie start struggling to figure out what Phantom is now, as before he showed up on their ghost equipment, but now he doesn't. Jack starts seeing the bigger picture, looking and analyzing the different energys in the Infinite Realms that he previously refused to believe were there. He realized, why were they trying to apply the rules of their dimension on a dimension clearly completely different from theirs? Why were they refusing to apply the theory that the interaction of two or more different realitys would require a completely foreign set of laws to try and analyze it all. Why were they trying to apply the laws of Physics to explain magic? And like that, his obsession was resolved, he didn't have the insane impulse to blame ghosts for odd things or to shoot at anything abnormal the second he saw it, suddenly, his issues were resolved in an instant. The ectoplasm, they were so contaminated in it that their obsessions had bound to it and formed into a core that made them impulsively driven by them. And with his Obsession resolved, the ectoplasm had dissolved. Jack could now clearly see the near identical appearance between Danny and Phantom, there voices and Mannerisms, the similar time frame from the incident with the Portal with Danny and the appearance of Phantom.
Danny has also been developing Cat-like traits from his act of building cat homes around his Shrine, effectively making the cats worship him.
The ghosts that originally appeared have slowly begun to stop, the few that still do being those that lived in Amity before they died.
Danny has a number of Divine Affinity due to how he formed. He is a Kami of Cats, Protection, kindness, winter, safety, and Star gazing.
When he properly becomes a Kami, its a rather public event, some ancient ghost attacks, sensing a Kami forming in America. The Fentons are scanning through out the fight, Jack actually switches on the scanners for the other typs of energy, which angers Maddie because she is still in Aggressive denial about them. Phantoms Ectoplasm Readings are fluctuating, as if trying to keep itself active as its being burned away. While Two of the other reading show spikes and growing while the Ancient talks down to him as it pummels him, things like 'YOU THINK YOU CAN PROTECT THEM?!' 'I'LL BE SURE TO MAKE THEM SUFFER AS WELL FOR MAKING YOU FORM!'. While everyone is watching helplessly, they pray and hope for him to win, to protect them. Suddenly, everything stops, and Phantom, Screams! In a burst of power, all Ectoplasm readings die on Phantom, while one of the others, rises and stabilizes, becoming the dominant energy. Hovering in a Crater, stands Phantom, now dressed in Traditional male Kimono, a Hagoromo proudly floating on his shoulders, at his feet, a pair of red painted wooden wheels with what appear to be clouds flowing from the axel holes. In his left hand, a Glave. His hair a foot longer, snowflakes gently appearing and falling around him.
He then pummels the ancient, and destroys it with ease. Maddie is having a panic attacks and is struggling to understand the situation. Phantom is standing there looking over himself, trying to understand himself what just happened. Maddie sees a chance, she grabs the Fenton Fermos, runs up on Phantom, opens it, activates it, and- doesn't suck up Phantom, only the remaining ectoplasm from the Ancient. It doesn't work of Phantom, he doesn't have ectoplasm anymore, hes not, in anyway, a ghost anymore.

So, I assume cores are like a ghosts version of autistic special interests, and assumedly not everyone becomes a ghost?
But what if Jack does, his core could be ghosts itself, and is one of the strongest fresh ghosts to be out there, one worthy of rivalling king Danny.
Oo! I like this. I haven't gotten too far into any world building, but let's see if we can do this some justice. I haven't ever written Jack, so this might be absolutely horrible. Also, most of my knowledge is purely fanon or what I made up on the fly.
Idk if this is what you wanted, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. <2
Jack Fenton had always loved ghosts. His parents read him ghost stories and myths and legends when he was growing up, his sister was very into the dark and macabre, and his brother even took him ghost hunting a few times!
Yes, the Nightingale family had been witch hunters, but an interest change came with the name change. It was a package deal, really. One that know one really registered until much later down the line.
At the end of his senior year, Jack meet Madeline. If you asked her, it was love at first sight. If you asked him, it was love at first fight.
Maddie, as she liked to be called, had been raised by her grandmother. The woman taught Maddie everything she knows about the supernatural, claiming to be a medium. No one ever believed her.
Jack had a friend throughout high school named Vlad. Vlad was, in every sense of the word, paranoid. He had measures against everything supernatural, metaphysical, real, ect. If you could think of it, he probably had something to counter it.
The three made quite the team in college. Maddie and Jack had applied to the same colleges, only going to the one that accepted them both. Vlad followed after them, saying that he didn't trust Jack to leave him on his own.
"Ridiculous!" Jack had whispered to Maddie, "He just doesn't like being alone."
Ghosts were the common interest between the three, having grow up around some kind of exposure, so when someone offhandedly mentions a theoretical way that a living being could enter the Realm of the Dead, well, they had to see if it was actually possible.
Which leads them to nearly twenty-three years later. Their research had gotten Vlad hospitalized, so he wasn't there to share in the success, but that hadn't stopped Jack and Maddie. They'd worked for years to build a portal into the Afterlife for the opportunity to study a real life ghost.
Their research, of course, had been shunned in many occult circles, but that's okay. Those guys were all quacks and crazies anyway. Who needs their approval?
Ghosts were the emotions of a formerly living being that had imprinted themselves on ectoplasm. The proof? There was a ghost attack on their college during their junior year. Everyone thought they had staged it because no one saw the ghost, but Jack, Maddie, and Vlad knew. They had gathered the small bit of glowing green goo to study it.
That glowing green goo had been what had powered up the portal when they got it build. They used it like a battery.
So why hadn't it worked?
Well, it worked eventually, but why had it taken nearly four hours after the initial activation of the portal?
Regardless, they had been right and now Amity Park was full of proof to prove themselves to everyone that had ever laughed at them! If only Vlad could've shared in the glorious moment. He's not dead! They just...lost contact shortly after Danny was born.
Jumping forward almost two decades, Jack and Maddie were sat down by their children, Jasmine and Danny. Apparently, Danny had been the one to activate the portal by dying. It was...a lot to process, but they were happy he had come to them, even if it had taken two years.
It made them rethink a lot of their thoughts over the years. But, you can't really teach an old dog new tricks, no matter how much you explain and demonstrate it.
They didn't hurt Danny! God, no. They'd already done that enough.
No, Jack and Maddie redoubled their efforts to study ghosts with the added intention of understanding them.
Everyone in Amity Park know that there's at least a 90% chance they'll become a ghost when they die. That is quickly lowered to a 50% chance when the understanding that intent matters in all situations, even death. Those who want to rest won't come back as a ghost. Those who have something to finish or do have a bigger chance of coming back. Maybe not with all their memories, but they might.
Maddie, when she died of a combination of radiation - because ectoplasm is barely radioactive, but consistent exposure for most of her life doomed her - and old age, wanted to rest. She had done enough in her life, so she was ready to leave it behind.
Jack, when he died of the same combination with the addition of pneumonia, wanted to be with Maddie. But he also wanted to finally finish what he and Maddie and Vlad had started all those years ago.
Upon his death, Jack remembered a conversation he'd had shortly after Danny had come clean about being Phantom.
"Dann-o?" Jack had asked one morning.
"Hey, dad," Danny had tried to smile, but he seemed so tired. He was always tired. Had he always been this tired? Was this a new thing? Jack was horrified that he didn't know.
Jack had sat down next to his son on the couch, not too close as to be imposing, but close enough to be comforting. "What's wrong?"
Danny took a very long time to answer, words seeming to fall apart in his mouth. "Are you and mom going to keep trying to capture ghosts?"
Jack blinked. Why wouldn't they? There was still so much to know! So many theories to prove or disprove! So much locked potential that no one was ever going to look into again simply because no one else thought it possible!
"I mean-" Danny scrunched his nose in thought, trying to piece the words together in a way that someone who couldn't read his thoughts or be in his head could understand. "You and mom have worked to study ghosts for basically your whole lives. But, now that you know I am one, are you going to stop? Like, are you going to stop hunting them - us - down? Are you guys going to keep trying to hurt us?"
Oh. Oh. He's- Danny, he's- he's worried that they'll hurt him? "Oh, Danny," he said, "It was never our intention to hurt you."
"But-!"
"But we can't just drop everything. We've been doing this our whole lives almost, like you said. What are we supposed to do if we stop it all?"
Danny didn't say anything. In fact, he looked devastated. Why..?
Oh. Oh.
"It's not like that!" Jack was quick to say, "We're-we're not going to hunt ghosts any longer. If anything, we'll probably just want to ask some questions? I don't really know. I'll have to talk to your mom about it some more, but- We don't want to hurt you, Danny. It was never our intention."
Danny had been very quiet and a bit distant for the rest of the week after that. Unless, he'd always been like that? But he opened back up a little while later.
Jack and Maddie had never really completed their research on ghosts, so it's no surprise that one of them would come back as the thing they spent their lives after. But now came the question of what Ghost!Jack's obsession is.
It's usually seen as insensitive to ask a ghost what their Obsession is. But, if you know what their Obsession is, most are beyond thrilled to share it with you, basically info dumping everything they know about the subject, sharing related items, and learning more with you. It's a fun experience for all involved, especially if two or more ghosts have the same or similar enough Obsessions.
Really, it shouldn't have been a surprise that Jack Fenton's Obsession was Ghosts, considering his life.
Once that was a widely known fact, though, some began to wonder what his core and powers would be. Aside from, of course, the basic power set that all ghosts get when they become a ghost.
Cores and powers go hand in hand with a ghost's Obsession. Sometimes they amplify one another, sometimes they compliment one another. Very rarely are they the same thing.
For example, King Phantom's core is ice, his Obsession is protection, and his powers relating to that of ice, mostly offensive and defensive focuses. Ember's core is fire, her Obsession music, and her powers are similar to those of the sirens of myths.
You get the idea.
Then again, the Fenton Family has never been normal, has it? Not even as far back as when they were the Nightingale Family.
King Phantom had figured out one day what his father's powers were, and, consequently, his strength. It was an accident, really! They hadn't seen each other in a while, and Jack's hugs were already monstrously strong before he'd become a ghost-
Who knew that ghosts could get shattered spines?
Jack Fenton, upon becoming the very thing he'd spend his life dedicated to, gained the ability to copy another ghost's power via manipulation of his core.
While most ghosts' cores were a single solid substance like ice or fire or shadows, Jack's core was ectoplasm. Able to change and adapt to his needs, not set in any one way.
Phantom was beyond glad his father, who became known as The Professor, was on his side.

Shadow of a Bat Ch. 3 Snippet
WC: 915 CW: Vivisection, Implied/Referenced Torture, Aftermath of Torture, Off Screen Character Death, GIW, Bad Parents Jack and Maddie Fenton Danny Fenton, Panic Attacks
Their little shadow was showing themselves more. Dickâs nickname seemed to have stuck with the family occasionally actively addressing the entity by some variation of âlittle shadowâ in various languages. They still didnât know the exact identity of the being, but Bruce had his suspicions.
Trusting his gut was something that was always hard for Bruce, what with his need to know. He would rather trust research and facts. But right then his gut was telling him that their little shadow was the boy who had been coldly labeled as the entity FBA-P_01. The boy who had bled red like a human when the scientists cut into him before it ran green. But Bruce also knew that he couldnât be objective, not when the boy had looked so much like Jason had laid out on the autopsy table.
The Justice League had been working their way through more of the encryption on the files and making their own database from the information. FBA: full body apparition. It was a title for the ghosts who took on a humanoid form that could be fully interacted with. The GIW considered these the most important test subjects. Unlike the A-E classes, which had multiple files, the P was a classification had only been used twice. Once for the boy and once for a FBA-P_02, who was listed as âunsuitable for long term studyâ and marked as terminated. âPhantomâ had come up in once in a file connected to FBA-P_01, leading them to believe that was was the origin of the P marker. Reports from Amity Parkâ the city that had brought the Anti-Ecto Acts to lightâ cited Phantom as their townâs hero.
The boy had been a vigilante. Another black haired, blue eyed teen hero that had died; that might have stayed dead.
Bruce pushed himself away from the computer after locking it down. He knew he needed to brief his children on the information the Justice League was findingâ they had a right to know what with the little shadow becoming part of their homeâ but Bruce didnât know how to broach it. He wanted a few more answers first, a few more certainties.
Besides, the children had been doing so well at making them feel more at home. Now that they were showing themselves more, made it easier to try and meet their needs. Bruce was sure that when he made it upstairs for lunch there would be a place at the table set for their newest member also.
It was never a full plate, but Alfred had started being sure to set out a little bit of what the family was having for the little shadow. It had started with Jason and the other children slipping bits under the table, but Alfred soon declared that unacceptable behaviorâ their shadow was not a dogâ and so a place at the table with a small plate had been set. The food only ever disappeared when no one was looking, but it seemed to be enjoyed if the noises the shadow made was an indication.
Sure enough, there was an empty plate other than Bruceâs. It was a rather full table for a weekend lunchâ Damian, Tim, Cass, Duke, and Dick were all gathered. Another thing that the little shadow had brought Bruce: more time with his children.
-
Phantom watched the family at the meal. Watched Bruce (not Batman, the man tried so hard be Bruce around his children) ask Dick (golden and smiling) about his day. Watched Tim and Cass fight (play fighting, not real) over the last piece of garlic bread on the serving plate.
He had a little piece of garlic bread too. He waited, carefully, until no one was looking to pull it down under the edge of the table. Oh, it was good. Of course it was, everything that Alfred made was good, but this was very good. This was almost cookie level good. Phantom trilled happily at the taste. When he peered back over the edge of the table, there was another piece on his small plate!
Phantom looked up. Duke was smiling down at him.
Phantom shrunk back. He didnât mean to. He knew (part of him knew) that the plate was for him and so the others must know he was there, but he still felt so seen when one of them looked at where he was. Being seen was dangerous.
Being seen meant tests and blades and being cut cut cut.
The sound of the table quieted suddenly.
Oh, he must have made a noise.
âI do hope the silence is due to everyone simply being too busy eating,â Alfred said as he swept into the room, breaking the tension of the moment. âThough heavens knows that a full mouth has never kept any of you from talking.â
âI would never,â Damian said with a haughty sniff.
Conversation surged again, picking back up as people defended themselves or called others out. Without looking, attention seemingly on the new argument, Duke nudged the plate towards Phantom. Phantom⊠not breathed, he didnât need to breath, but he⊠relaxed, like all the air had gone out of lungs he didnât have in a sudden relieved whoosh.
He was safe here. He was safe with Batman Bruce. He was safe with Bruceâs family. He knew that, he knew that, he knew that.
Sometimes, still, the fear choked at him; made him feel like he couldnât breath.
(He wondered what it was like to breath.)
(He used to breath, he thought.)

AN: Getting back into writing both Bruce and this version of Phantom has been a task! But I think it's getting there. Our poor little shadow...
First two chapters are up on ao3 here:
I hope to have this chapter done and up in a week or two! As always, sorry for any typos in this first draft version, I'm suffering from the after effects of a sensory induced migraine still and my vision is a bit doubled. This is why I beg Moku to beta things for me lol

DannyMay Day 26: Art/Fic Switch!
Treats and Threats
Summary:
Valerie was going to kick Phantomâs ass for this! The only problem? She didnât know where to find him.
Good thing Cujo was more than willing to help in exchange for some treats. Too bad he wasnât very good at distinguishing which Danny he was meant to find though...
Word Count: 2894 || AO3 Link
Did I use this day as an excuse to try writing something for the shared cujostody au?? Maybe...
it referances this comic a little bit...
[Shared Cujostody AU Masterpost]
---
Valerie was gonna kick Phantomâs ass for this. Did he think she wouldnât notice?
She looked over to Cujo, who was sniffing all over her room. He just came over as he often did. Phantom liked to think they had a set custody schedule or whatever it was he called it, but in reality Cujo just came by whenever he wanted and to whichever of them he wanted.
She was reluctant to ââadoptââ the ghost dog at first. Yes, she wasnât as mad at him anymore after she finally listened to Phantom and found out why exactly Cujo was now a ghost, but that didnât mean she had to like him. He was incredibly persistent though and the more time Valerie spent around the dog, the more she started loving him. He was just a tiny little puppy, a ball of joy who wanted to play all the time.
She even kept some treats for him for whenever he came over and started making and buying him some dog clothes. He loved dressing up, especially when they got to match. And it made Phantom jealous, so it was just bonus points for her really.
Phantom used to insist that the dog wasnât his, but now it seemed like they were fighting for who gets to have him. Okay, she was fighting. That idiot seemed delighted to share the ââcustodyââ, he kept making jokes about them being a family which was genuinely getting on her nerves. He was so infuriating.
She did agree to a truce with him after finding out he was right about Vlad, but that didnât mean she had to enjoy sharing Cujo with that menace. He was too careless and brute with the puppy. Which is exactly why she needed to find him right now and kill him, truce be damned.
Unfortunately for her the ghost attacks have been kinda on the down low lately and she had no idea where he hung out when he wasnât fighting them. She did send him a bunch of text messages and even tried calling (which was still so weird! How did he even get that phone??), but she was sent to voicemail every time.
If only there was a way for her to track him downâŠ
She glanced at Cujo, who had his head stuck in the plastic box of treats. She sighed. Truly nothing could stop a ghost dog. She always tried hiding these from him, but no matter where she put the box he always managed to sniff it out.
Which gave her an idea. If he could sniff these out then maybeâŠ
ââCujo, baby. You know youâre not supposed to eat those.ââ she gently pushed his head out of the box. If he really wanted to he could just phase through her hand and continue, but he was a good boy and always listened. Yet he kept his eyes on the treats as if they would disappear at any moment. She chuckled.
ââIâll give you a treat if you do something for me.ââ she said and his eyes instantly snapped to her. His tail slowly swayed back and forth. ââCan you find Phantom for me? Sniff him out?ââ
Cujo blinked at her before barking happily, tail full on wagging now. He phased through her hand and made his way through the bedroom window. She quickly jumped to follow him, nearly yanking the window off its hinges. Her suit making a humming sound as it activated.
He got quite ahead of her, but she managed to keep up just fine. She did have his ecto-signature marked in her tracker just in case she ever lost track of him, but she also had Phantomâs and that one tended to disappear off her radar at random. She wasnât so inclined to test if Cujoâs wouldnât do the same.
They flew their way through Amity Park before Cujo suddenly took a sharp turn towards her high school. She saw him growing into his bigger form before he disappeared behind the building.
As she rounded the corner and saw Cujoâs back, tail wagging. It seemed like he was holding someone in his mouth.
Got ya, ghost boy.
She landed behind the dog and could hear his captive yelling
ââCujo! I canât right now! I told you to go to-ââ
Cujo turned around to show his catch to Valerie andâŠ
ââOh-... Heheh.. hi Red! Uh.. Huntress!ââ
That was not Danny Phantom.
That was Danny Fenton.
ââCUJO NO. Shit, Iâm so sorry Da-uh citizen!ââ She quickly raced up to them and coaxed her puppy into releasing her ex boyfriend. Which he did by letting him fall face first on the ground. ââSHIT.ââ
Valerie knelt down next to him to help him rise to his feet.
ââAre you okay??ââ
ââYeah.ââ he said, standing up to his full height, which was only slightly taller than her. He looked at her and sent her a bright smile. ââDonât worry about it.ââ
She smiled back knowing that he probably struggled to see it through her visor. His view got even more obscured when Cujo put his huge snout in between them wagging his tail happily. Which ended up with him accidentally knocking over some full trash cans standing behind him.
ââUgh. Cujo, I just cleaned that up.ââ Danny said resigned, moving over to the garbage. ââLancerâs gonna have my head if he sees another piece of mutated meat.ââ
Valerie looked at the knocked over trash and sure enough it was full of disgusting glowing green meat. Or at least what was left of it. It looked maimed and burned.
Right. He was recording a tiktok during lunch today. She was eating in the library while working on her missed homework, so she didnât get to see it herself, but she heard the rumors. Apparently he put some sort of new ectoplasmic concoction from his parents lab in his serving of todayâs mystery meat. It backfired and spread to every piece of meat in the cafeteria like a disease.
People were saying it was like a zombie apocalypse with all the meat moving around the room. Some even said they saw the Lunch Lady ghost appear for a second before she noticed Danny in the middle of it and left terrified. Which if that was true Valerie couldnât blame her. Dannyâs eating habits probably made her turn in her grave.
ââYou didnât eat it, did you?ââ she asked, squinting at a small piece of meat that apparently survived whatever happened to the rest of it and was slowly crawling away from them, likely trying to escape. Danny picked it up and squashed it in his hand before it got far.
ââObviously I did.ââ he turned to her with a familiar shit-eating grin on his face, moving the thing he caught closer to his mouth as if to prove a point.
Damn him. How could he be so endearing even when he was being disgusting?
She shook her head chuckling and looked at Cujo instead. He was looking right back at her expectantly. Right.
ââNo Cujo, no treats until you find Phantom for me.ââ she said sternly. She saw Danny trip over a trash can lid out of the corner of her eye. ââYou good there?ââ
ââWha-Yes! Ha- Yeah. Yeah, Iâm fine! Donât mind me!ââ he tried to act cool, almost losing his footing again. Dork.
Cujo whined at her, stepping from front paw to front paw and cocking his head to the right. He knew damn well he looked cute when he did that, no matter which form.
ââBaby, no. Iâm not gonna cave. Find Phantom and Iâll give you a treat then.ââ she said calmly trying to stroke him behind the ear, but since he was in big mode she had to settle for his cheek.
He whined a bit more letting out a little pathetic bark to go with it. He turned and stalked over to Danny, poking him in the back with his nose, which made the boy squeak.
ââNo, Cujo.ââ she said, sighing. ââThatâs the wrong Danny youâre thinking of.ââ
ââY-Yeah, buddy!ââ Danny chuckled nervously, petting Cujoâs snout. ââIâm not the one youâre looking for! Definitely not! Iâm not Phantom, why would you even think that? Youâre not thinking that right?ââ
Okay he was acting weird. Almost as if he was hiding something.
Valerie looked him up and down. His eyes were wide, observing her every move with fear. One arm was rubbing his neck, which he always did when he was nervous. The other still stroking Cujoâs fur almost instinctively.
Thatâs when it clicked.
ââNo fucking way.ââ she uttered absolutely baffled.
It made so much sense.
ââW-What?ââ he asked, his voice cracking.
ââHow many times did that asshole leave you as a dogsitter?ââ
She knew Phantom did that. She caught Cujo in the background of one of Dannyâs tiktoks a while ago and when she confronted Phantom about it he admitted to ââhiringââ Danny as a dogsitter sometimes.
If that asshole left Cujo with Danny too often, then no wonder the poor puppy would mistake Danny for his second caretaker. Oh she was going to kick his irresponsible ghost ass even harder now!
ââUh⊠w-wha..?ââ Danny tilted his head questionably.
ââI know about the dogsitting, Danny. And it looks like heâs leaving Cujo with you so often that the dog thinks youâre him!ââ
ââOh⊠you think-ââ he knitted his eyebrows in confusion before his eyes widened. ââOh! Oh, hahah, he didnât- I mean it wasnât many times! Maybe like twice! Is this the dog? I didnât even recognise him, I donât even remember his name!ââ
Cujo whined again, turning into his puppy form and jumped in Dannyâs arms, who barely managed to catch him in time. He started sniffing and licking his face distressed.
ââCujo stop! I mean! Dog whose name I donât rememberâŠââ that made Cujo whine even harder and Danny flinched. He instantly gave up and buried his face in Cujoâs fur. Valerie could barely hear him mutter ââI canât do this to you.ââ
That interaction only reaffirmed Valerieâs suspicions.
ââDonât cover up for him.ââ she said, crossing her arms. ââIâm not mad at you, Iâm mad at him. Heâs going to pay for this too.ââ
ââUhâŠwhy were you even looking for him in the first place? Did he do something?ââ
ââYes, he knows what he did! And now this! The moment I find him Iâm gonna kick his ass so hard heâll be the gone kind of dead!ââ
ââ⊠well you definitely wonât find him nowâŠââ
ââWhat?ââ
ââNothing!ââ Danny shoved Cujo in her arms and started walking off before she could even react. ââAnyway Iâll be going now! Gotta finish cleaning so Lancer doesnât kill me! Bye Val!ââ
ââBye-....waitâŠwhat did you just call me?ââ
Danny stopped frozen in his tracks. She stared at his back bewildered.
He slowly turned around and stared back at her too.
ââ...Bye Red Huntress! It was nice to see you, Iâll go disappear behind that corner now!ââ he yelled nervously and booked it behind said corner.
It took her a second to shake off the shock. Cujo jumped out of her arms as she quickly followed after the boy.
ââDANNY.ââ
She rounded the corner to see that he did in fact disappear. Shit.
She was sure he called her Val. How did he know about her secret identity? She was always so careful! It did explain his weird behavior though, he probably didnât know how to act around her like this.
She needed to talk to him immediately, he couldnât just reveal something like this and run off!
Though that is exactly what he did. How did he even disappear like that? This boy was impossible sometimes.
In frustration she knocked her head on the wall a few times. What was her life at this point?
Her thoughts got interrupted when she heard Cujoâs bark and a yelp come from behind her. Turning around only provided her with even more frustration when she saw Danny mcfucking Phantom laying helplessly under Cujoâs once again big paw.
ââWhy must you do this to the hand that feeds youâŠââ he hissed to Cujo before turning his attention towards Valerie. ââHey Red! You look very good today! Are those new arm plates on your suit?ââ
Danny Fenton could wait. She was gonna deal with this asshole first.
ââYOU.ââ she roared stalking over to them. Cujo looked up at her coming closer and switched to his puppy form again laying his whole body on Phantomâs chest, wagging his tail and barking excitedly.
ââAh.. hahah, have you been looking for me?ââ Phantom said, raising into a sitting position, even though Cujo was making it difficult for him.
ââIâm going to end you!ââ Valerie yelled, pulling out her gun and making sure to aim it at his face and away from the dog in his lap.
ââI thought we had a truce! What did I do?!ââ
ââYOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT YOU DID.ââ
ââNo, I actually donât!ââ
She let her gun disappear back into her suit and angrily knelt beside them. Picking up Cujo from his lap, she turned him around to show Phantom a charred section of fur on his right back leg.
ââI FOUND SOME SINGED FUR ON CUJO AGAIN. You were playing too harshly with him! again!ââ she put the puppy down, so she could stand up summoning her gun back and aim it at the ghost boy in front of her.
Phantom looked from the gun to her, at Cujo and then back to the gun.
âââŠâŠ. Listen in my defense he really likes fetching ectoblastsâŠââ
ââHeâs gonna be fetching your ectoplasm when Iâm done with you! What were you thinking?! Heâs not one of your vile rouge buddies! Heâs a little puppy! How many times have I told you to be softer with him?!ââ
ââValerie, with all due respectâŠThat dog can chew off Skulkerâs head, he can take a few tiny burns! He doesnât even react to it!ââ he defended standing up too. He kept his hands in the air as a sign of surrender. ââCanât I just play catch with my own son?ââ
Cujo barked from the side.
ââUgH your SON that you constantly leave with Danny! Apparently you do that so often that heâs more used to Dannyâs scent than yours!ââ she yelled irritated.
ââUhâŠIâm a ghostâŠ. I donât have a scent?ââ he answered, uncertain before nodding to himself. ââYes. Yes! I donât have⊠a scent for him to find. Only uh⊠Only material beings do.ââ he added still unsure and she swore she could hear him mutter something about being a genius.
ââWhat.ââ
ââHe couldnât sniff me out and uh⊠you and Danny are the only humans who have me on speed dial so he thought that was the best next thing. Yes, thatâs definitely it.ââ
âââŠWhat.ââ
ââYeah! Itâs true! Totally! So he did good!ââ he motioned to Cujo which made him wag his tail more. ââGive him a treat, he deserves it. Heâs a good boy!ââ
The puppy barked happily.
ââYeah, you are!ââ Phantom crouched to coddle Cujo. ââYour mother just couldnât see it! But donât worry, your cool ass dad always got your back.ââ
There he goes again with the family bullshit. Valerie slumped defeated and hid her gun.
ââUgh. Stop saying things like that to him, weâre not a family.ââ she groaned.
ââWell yeah, weâre divorced.ââ
ââWe never even dated!ââ
ââAs far as you know.ââ he looked up at her with his dumb trademark smirk.
ââWhatâs that supposed to mean?ââ she asked because what the actual fuck did he mean by that.
ââNothing!ââ he stood up quickly picking up Cujo to shove him in her arms and woah, did that give her deja vu. ââI have to go, can I have a rain check on that ass kicking? Iâm very busy right now!ââ
ââWha- No!ââ she protested trying to keep Cujo from licking her face. ââGet back here!ââ
ââBye Val!ââ he yelled and flew off before she had the time to react. God damn it!
She turned her gaze down to Cujoâs pleading eyes.
ââAlright.ââ she pulled out a dog treat from a tiny storage in her glove and gave it to Cujo. ââYou did good baby.ââ
She put him down on the ground so he could devour the treat in peace and sighed loudly. Phantom ran off like a little bitch and apparently Cujo couldnât sniff him out. He would just go to Danny again.
Which reminded her. She still needed to have a talk with that boy. She did trust him not to tell anyone, but she needed to know how he found out in the first place, so she can make sure no one else can find out the same way. She should probably give him a bit of time before she gets Cujo to stalk him out again though.
The puppy had finished his little treat and was now looking at her with those cute red puppy dog eyes. She couldnât hold back the smile that overtook her face. Whatever. Sheâll deal with Danny at school tomorrow. And deal with Phantom whenever she sees him next.
ââCâmon Cujo. Letâs go home.ââ
It was on the way home when a sudden thought hit her.
DID PHANTOM TELL DANNY ABOUT HER IDENTITY THE SAME WAY HE DID WITH HER DAD?

Day 4: Wander
Dani stepped through the portal and looked around. She wasnât quite sure where she was, and the signs were written in a language she didnât know, but that was fine. She was here to explore after all.
Transforming back to human she called into the portal, âHere boy!â and with a bark a lively green puppy jumped out and landed in her arms.
âOkay, okay, I know youâre excited Cujo!â she laughed as the ghost dog licked her face. While she hadnât had her traveling partner long, she already loved the companionship the cute puppy gave. Danny had been insistent that she have someone to keep her safe the last time she saw him, and she couldnât agree more with him that Cujo was that perfect someone.
âAlright boy, you know the drill.â Dani said as she put the dog down and opened her backpack. Yipping happily Cujo dove into the space and snuggled in with the clothes inside, effectively hiding him from the public.
Dani shrugged the bag back onto her shoulders and set off down the street knowing that Cujo would keep an ear out for any trouble she might find.
The city she had found herself in was awash with sounds and vibrant colors, and based on what she knew of the world Dani thought she may be somewhere in Eastern Asia. She had been so clueless when she started traveling thanks to Vlad. He hadnât thought it necessary to teach her anything beyond the basics to survive since he wasnât planning on letting her live all that long in the first place. Thatâs why she wanted to explore so badly, to see the world and learn what she could about it, or at least thatâs what she told Danny.
She did want to know more about the world, and she did like exploring, but there was something else to it too. Before she had left Amity Park the first time, Danny had explained everything he knew about being a halfa to her. He told her about her core, different powers she might develop, and obsessions. When he had described what obsessions meant, she hadnât fully understood right away. It was only a few months after she had left that she truly understood what it meant to have a ghostly obsession.
While Dannyâs obsession was to help those in need, Dani was different. His obsession stemmed from his Accident in the portal, stemmed from hearing his friends calling out to him in fear. Hers came from her birth.
Being raised for a few months in Vladâs basement laboratory was no life. At least, she could look back on that now and realize it. He had never let her leave the basement until her mission to retrieve Danny to make her the âperfect cloneâ. There hadnât even been a window, just a room full of wires, tubes, and a portal. There she had witnessed countless attempts at cloning fail, each one melting in a puddle of goo before her eyes, and she was helpless to do anything but be at Vladâs side. She had been so unquestioningly loyal to him out of hope that he would not let her destabilize and melt, that he would let her see the world outside that basement, but it had all been a lie.
So her obsession became freedom. Freedom to go where she wanted, do what she wanted, and be who she wanted to be. She wouldnât ever be tied down by Vladâs desires ever again, a mold for the perfect child he wanted. So Dani needed to find out who she was instead, and she had! She found that she loved learning about other cultures, other languages. She found a fascination with the night sky and stargazing that connected her with Danny, and a heavy appreciation for chocolate. Dani had learned so much about herself, and in the year since first leaving to explore she finally felt complete.
Dani stopped next to a market stall, fingers tapping the strap of her backpack and thinking of where she might find her next portal to somewhere new. She never stayed in any one place too long, just in case someone caught on to her intangibly grabbing food and clothes when she was able.
She tended to avoid Amity Park though. Danny had met up with her a few times since her near destabilization, but always in the Infinite Realms. Each time they met, he offered to let her stay with him in Amity Park. He offered to tell his parents his halfa secret so she could stay in their home, to introduce her and get his parents to take her in properly as his sister. Danny was willing to risk his safety, his secret identity in order to give her a home, but Dani was scared.
She was so afraid that in settling down back in Amity Park she would be trapped again, forced to be what a parent wanted her to be. Some part of her knew that it wouldnât happen, that the Fentons werenât like Vlad, but still that fear lingered.
A short yip coming from her backpack shook her from her thoughts, and Dani gave a small smile. âI know Cujo, Iâm ok.â and she was. She knew someday she might return to Amity Park, to be a part of a family, but for now the world awaited her.
As Dani walked away from the stall, she thought back to something Danny had said to her the last time they had met.
âYou can wander as far and as long as you need to Dani. When you're ready, a home will be waiting for you.â

Phantom of Gotham 11
Chapter 10
After lunch, the four boys parted ways and Danny found himself in his room. He checked his Tucker Approved phone for the four hundredth time since arriving in Gotham to find a spam of messages. Situating himself on his bed he clicked the messages open to read. All of them were from Tucker, in what looked like an info dump of updates on Amity.Â
Danny frowned, not really liking what he reads. According to Tucker, his parents really were working with the GIW and Jazz had scoped out that they had already started inventing some questionable things. One was a tracking device of sorts, which sent a shiver down Dannyâs spine at the implications of that. They were fairly certain that Danny was still safe in Gotham for the time being, given they didnât think the range of it would go as far as Gotham from Amity.Â
Tucker reported that while everyone else in Amity was still going about business as normal, Valarie, Sam, Tuker, and Jazz had picked up slack on ghost hunting. There were not a lot of ghosts coming to Amity, especially now that Phantom was MIA, so there wasnât a lot of work to be done. Mostly, it took more effort to keep the Fentons distracted.Â
On a sidenote, Sam had a run in with Vlad because of her millionaire parents, and concluded that the old man had something planned. None of them could figure out what, but they seemed to be more worried about the GIW and the Fentons to think about Vladâs friutloopy plans. Either way, Sam and Valarie were keeping an eye out. Speaking of Valarie, apparently she joined the team because she was worried about Danny going missing. Tucker and Sam had given her the barest amount of information and in turn got her to help them wrangle the ghosts in Phantomâs absence. He was quick to reassure Danny that Val didnât know about him being a halfa, but Danny trusted Tucker with his life. Even if Tucker had told her, he knew it would have been for a good reason.Â
Sighing, he typed out an acknowledgement and signed off, hoping they were doing okay without him. His core pulsed anxiously at his feelings for his friends and sister. It felt wrong to have them deal with all of this without him. Danny couldnât help but feel responsible for dragging them into this mess. But, he couldnât help the overwhelming feelings of pride and affection that his friends were so capable at handling this. That they cared about him.Â
Danny laid on his bed for a while before getting bored. He couldnât fall asleep, so he figured he might as well find someone to bother. His core thrived on being around people, and protecting them. Out of everyone in the manor, Danny figured someone might have some free time, or needed some cheering up from being stuck inside all day. Though, looking out the window he could tell the blizzard had died down. All that was left were the heaps of snow and icy trails. It looked pretty, the thought absently. Maybe he could help Alfred with something. The elderly man was probably not enjoying the cold.Â
Fighting the urge to smother the old man in blankets, he turned the corner and almost bumped into the manorâs smallest resident. âOh- Damian, hey, want to play in the snow?â Danny asked,âLooks like the blizzard stopped.â
Damian wrinkled his nose, glancing out the window. âI do not require a babysitter, Folson. Playing in the snow is for children.â
âI dunno, we could have a snowball fight?â Danny offered. âYou could bring your dog. Tim said you had a dog, right? Dogs love snow. Probably.â
âFine,âDamian sighed. âTitus has been upset at being cooped up in the manor, and I am under the impression that you will freeze out there without proper supervision.â
âAwesome!â Danny exclaimed, bouncing on his toes.âLets go, I wanna meet Titus.â
âYou wonât be going out in that,âDamian scowled at Dannyâs t-shirt and socks. âFollow me, you can use Drakeâs winter gear.â
Danny and his core were too excited to play in the snow to complain about having to put on warmer clothes. Not that theyâd really help against the cold, since heâd be fine no matter what, but if it made Damian feel better heâd do it.Â
---------------------------
Damian sighed exasperatedly. After Danny cajoled him and Titus into going out into the snow-filled backyard of the manor, Danny and Titus had not stopped jumping and running through the snow. The smaller teen watched from his position as Danny raced Titus through the snow, only they had to trudge through what was probably a good foot and a half of snow so it wasnât very fast. Damian scowled that Danny and Titus had gotten along so well. Usually Titus took a bit longer for strangers to warm up to.
Suddenly, the two miscreants raced towards Damian as he looked on with mild annoyance, until about ten feet in front of Damian Danny had dove into the snow in front of him. Pushing down amusement, Damian took a step forwards, realizing that Danny had in fact doven under the snow to confuse Titus. The greyhound was nosing around where Danny had disappeared, and Damian was about to call him over when a voice rang out behind him.Â
âYou gonna join us?â Damian hid a jolt of surprise that Danny had not only snuck up on him, but also apparently traveled ten feet under the snow to behind Damian without him noticing. He whirled around to face the other boy who had snow clinging to his clothes and hair despite Damianâs efforts to get him into Timâs winter gear. His eyes wandered from Titus to Danny before he elected to ignore it.Â
Dannyâs eyes sparkled with mischief, and Damian gave him a look. âJoin you in what?â Damian asked sarcastically,âYou two have just been running around in the snow for the past ten minutes.â
Danny nodded,âTrue. I think I just missed my dog a lot. Titus reminds me of him, and we used to go running around the park a lot. But we can make a snowman if you want?â
Damian perked up at the mention of animals. âYou have a dog? Who is taking care of him while you are here?â
âAh, heâs not really my dog?â Danny said sheepishly, running a hand behind his neck. âHeâs kind of a stray dog that likes to stick around sometimes. I play with him when I can but couldnât keep him, you know?â
Damian nodded sagely. âI understand. It took me a while to convince Father to adopt TItus. What kind of dog?â
âI have no idea,â Danny smiled, reminiscing about his kind of big and small friend. He continued talking, but started packing the snow around him into a pile.âBut his name is Cujo and heâs super sweet, but not very obedient. He looks kind of like a bulldog? Iâm not really sure, but I think youâd like him.â
âIâm sure weâd get along,âDamian agreed. He definitely got along with animals more than people. Part of him was glad Danny had a dog, because that meant the teen understood a bit of where Damian was coming from. âNow can we go back inside now?â
âWhat? No way, weâve only been out here for like five minutes,âDanny complained, flopping into the snow, despite the disapproving look on Damianâs face. âBesides, I just got started on my snow-batman.â
Damian scowled at the lump of snow in between them. âIf youâre trying to make Batman, youâll need more snow. He is taller than that.âÂ
âIt would be faster if you helped me,âDanny pouted, reminding Damian of Grayson,âYou know Batman better than I do.â
âFine,âDamian relented, despite the cold irritating his exposed skin. He knelt down to pack the snow in better, and before he knew it, they were making a life-sized Batman snowman.
âHeâs perfect,â Danny said smugly, hands on his hips. Looking over the snowman that towered over the two of them, Damian could admit he felt a bit of pride at how they managed to make a snowman that perfectly encapsulated the dark knight.Â
âHow are you not cold?â Damian scowled, looking to Dannyâs uncovered fingers. Heâd taken his gloves off to make the bat ears because they needed a âdelicate touchâ, and hadnât put them back on. Even Titus had retreated back into the house for warmth. âDo you have some anti-cold meta-human ability?â
âUm,âDanny started, caught off guard. He shifted in the snow, debating food a moment while Damian stared at him with narrowed eyes. Damian wasnât exactly trying to pry, but he wanted to know if his siblingsâ theories were correct, or if Danny would be a threat. Granted, Damian thought it was difficult to view the boy as a threat after watching him fail at making snow-bat-manâs ears twenty eight times. âMaybe.âÂ
âMaybe?â Damian raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. They kept eye contact before Danny slumped in defeat, looking a little bit wary.Â
âOkay, Iâm not really a meta, but I can like, create ice and snow and stuff,âDanny said, looking back up to the mansion as if someone were watching them. Damian however, knew along with the rest of his siblings that Danny had some type of meta abilities, but was preening internally at being the first one trusted with the secret. Danny lifted his hand, and Damian watched as a few snowflakes forms to circle the air before floating to the ground âSo the cold doesnât bother me, and Iâve never lost a snowball fight. But I canât do anything big, and I didnât cause the blizzard, so please donât tell anyone?â
Damian wrinkled his nose. âI would not betray your secret. However, I doubt ice powers are your only abilities.â
Danny bit his lower lip, and Damian was about to say that he didnât need to say what they were even if he was curious, when Danny smirked. âI may have cheated at arm wrestling.â
Caught off guard by his answer, Damian huffed out a laugh. He cleared his throat, continuing with,âSuper strength then? What about speed or healing?â
âNah, not speed but I think I heal a little bit faster than normal,âDanny said, starting on another snowman. Damian guessed it might be Robin, and deduced that it would be embarrassing to have only a Batman and Robin snow sculpture out in the lawn where everyone could see it.
âDespite your abilities, I highly doubt youâd be able to win at a snowball fight against me,âDamian redirected. He kicked at the newly formed pile of snow when Danny wasnât looking just to ensure itâs doom.Â
Dannyâs eyes lit up, and his hesitant smile turned bright. âOh, youâre on!âÂ
If Damian and Danny were smiling like idiots as they pelted eachother with snowballs and hid behind snow fortresses, then no one knew but them and the cameras Alfred would review later and then show to Bruce. Both adults would ignore how Danny seemed to create snow-sculptures in minutes.Â
Hours later, Alfred came outside to fetch the two boys, only to come across an entire snow-army of replicas of the Bat family, as well as a few other heroes. On either side of the yard were two different versions of a castle, with little piles of snowballs on each side of the fortress. Alfred raised a brow at having spotted Damian first as he threw a snowball to hit the small snow Robin at a perfect angle to topple the entire thing. From the other snow-barricade castle, Alfred heard a noise of distress.Â
âHow could you Damian?!â Danny cried out at his fallen brethren.Â
âHe is an abomination and deserved death,âDamian called back, only for Danny to appear out of the barricade with a snowball in each hand.Â
âIâll avenge you Snobin!â Danny exclaimed, using his snowballs to hit what Alfred thought was a snow-Titus on Damianâs side.Â
âSn- donât call it that!â Damian demanded,âHow dare you kill snow-Titus?!â
âThereâs like four Snitusâs over there! He sacrificed himself for the greater good,âDanny called.Â
âYou are not allowed to give my Snow-Titus names!â Damain yelled back, throwing more snowballs to topple Dannyâs army.Â
âNot Snow-wing too!âDanny cried, and Alfred decided to intervene before all the snow people met their end.
âBoys! Wonât you come inside to warm up before dinner?â Alfred called, mustache twitching in amusement as both boys halted what they were doing to stare at Alfred, only for a snowball to smack Danny in the face while he was distracted.Â
âComing!â Damian called, running gracefully up to the manor. Danny on the other hand, squawked in protest and stumbled after the younger teen.Â
As they both passed the butler, he couldnât help but hope Danny would become a permanent member of the family if he got along with Damian so quickly.Â

Ectoberhaunt Day 10: Creepy/Wet
Summary: A ghost dog and several feral ghost children and one Little Baby Man become menaces across town together the week of Halloween.
AO3 link
It started with an idea the youngest half ghost had while getting affectionately licked by the pup who chose her template as his person.
Halloween is coming up and what could be more fun for a ghost than to scare some people? But first, she needs a target.
As she looks for one, big, bright eyes watch from the shadows passed by. Curious to what she was doing.
She was so lost in thought on who to prank that the figure easily snuck up on her. Turning around only to come face to face with a ghost around her size. Startling her enough to let gravity take hold.
This ghost had pinkish purple-y hair in a cloud like texture and look and an oversized hooded jacket with pom poms dangling from it. Their tongue is in an eternal 'blep' poking out and stitch like markings up and down in the middle of their face. Topped off with a worn giraffe plush wearing an orange cape on their head, peaking out of their hair.
"Hi. Sorry for scaring you, we wanted to see what you were doing. It looked fun."
Their voice was quiet and unsure, yet excited.
Before Dani could give an answer, Cujo popped in and tackled the new ghost down to play. Licking the newcomer and then going off to play with the smaller, more animal shaped, ghost like the excited puppy he is.
Deemed a friend by the dog, she doesn't see a reason why to exclude a fellow ghost kid.
"Sure, I don't see why not. What's your name, though? Never seen you around Amity Park before."
"Oh! Ummm," the newcomer twisted their long sleeves before answering, "I'm Stuffie! Friend to all plush creatures and companions! Nice to meet you!"
Their bouncy answer was accompanied by flappy hands in their oversized sleeves and the giraffe plush flying up in glee, making a high pitched squeak in agreement.
"Who's that?" Dani was curious, she knew some ghosts had objects that were empowered by them and tend to be linked to their obsession in some way, but she has not seen one have sentience.
Well, unless Youngblood's skeleton companion counted?
Questions for later.
"That's Raffi, my best friend! She sometimes goes by Super Raffi, hence the cape. Would you like to hug her?"
Amused, Dani agreed and a comforting hug was paired with an unexpected lick from a long, somehow wet, giraffe tongue via ghostly plush.
"Aww, she likes you!"
The two share a laugh as the young Phantom explains her desire to prank and give a good scare to some people on Halloween. She still just didn't know exactly how to go about it. Two minds now are able to plan much easier with different ideas getting tossed around. The two animal companions played a fun game of chase, going in circles the whole time.
Unaware that a third, small creature had joined the two playing animal-like companions.
Mischievous spirits of restless children plan and wait.
Excited for a good Halloween haunting.
Biding their time blending in with trick-or-treaters, collecting candy along the way, until the house grew dark.
When the night came, they found their first victims.
A group of older kids acting like nothing scares them from living in Amity Park. Clearly plotting to TP someone's house... Or multiple someones from what could be seen or heard to passer bys. Doesn't matter anyway.
What they didn't know what waited them in shadows of the deepening night.
Giving the signal for their plan, the two humanoid ghosts get in position and Cujo grows and hides with his invisibility, a trick Dani worked hard making sure he'd listen to.
Eyes seemingly coming from the walls, staring from the darkness.
Liquid dripping onto them from above. A smell wafting onto them, warm and wet.
A creepy chant started from all sides.
"Trick or treat! ~
~Smell my feet~
~Give me something good to eat~~~"
Overlapped voices coming from different directions, moving around slowly as the come closer.
"If you don't~
~I don't care~
~I will give you some nightmares~"
A short giggle from at least three voices from no concrete direction followed the haunting rhyme.
All it took was a single tap on the shoulder and something small yet soft landing on a head for one kid to run screaming, followed by their friends. Forgetting their candy.
Leaving it to the spirits.
SCORE!
A great scare and a new friend made all of this worth it!
The new sweets didn't hurt, as well.
Dani and Stuffie found an isolated part of the park to sort their new candy, making a third pile for Raffi who loves chocolate. She is willing to share but she loves not having to!
Cujo chasing the extra friend that was with them, uninterested in the candy with his toy and new friends to play with. At least the candy won't kill him if he does try something.
"So, who is this little guy?" Stuffie asked, cheeks puffed like a chipmunk with candy before swallowing as if they were in cartoon.
"Oh, that little guy hangs out around town, mainly by my cousin or his friends. We don't exactly know how he came to be or where he came from, but he looks just like Phantom but somehow more fight-y. Heh heh." a laugh came out just thinking about it, "We've taken to calling him Little Baby Man, though. So I guess that's his name."
"Aww, he's cute!," they exclaim, "And I can tell Raffi likes having two new friends, here! I liked meeting you, too! Does this mean we're friends?" Stuffie asked her with bright sparkles in their eyes.
"Sure," Dani laughs, charmed by her new friend, "I don't see why not after all!"
Stuffie wiggled happily before responding, "Would you like it if I make you a plush friend? It can be of anyone or anything! I, uhm, don't really know how else to say this, but I like being around you and I want to give a plush friend custom made just for you! You can even take it with you on your travels when you leave next! That is, well, if you want it? I don't really know how to make friends, to be honest."
"Let me think about what it will be, OK? I don't really have many friends, either!"
"Sure!"
A reply given in a sunny smile before their small companions got their attention by trying to lay on them or bury themselves into the candy piles.
Laughs were heard all around from the abandoned park.
This was the greatest Halloween either has ever had.

Link to Midnight's Artwork!!!
   It was a pretty normal day in the Infinite Realms, well as normal as it can be. Danny had just finished up his day at work and was making his way back home. He floated in the Zone for what felt like forever. His fatigue caused his surroundings to blur. Islands, doors, staircases, a bluish spirit looking thing, more islands. Danny stopped in his tracks. He must've forgotten one.
   About seventy years ago or so, before Danny left Amity, Clockwork showed up to Danny's house with a new job. He asked Danny to help guide souls to their respective afterlives. The boy accepted the offer and began shortly after.Â
   Danny walked with thousands of spirits. Some were strangers, others were a little close to home. It started with Sam's grandma, then Tucker's parents, then Sam's, then his own mother and father, then Tucker, then Sam, then Valerie, then Jazz. Eventually, everyone he ever knew passed away. Amity Park moved on, and so did Danny, well he's trying to.
    Now Danny was staring at the Blue spirit in front of him. It was definitely a soul, but it looked different than the ones he's seen before. Its face was a dark void with yellow eyes and kind of reminded him of a blob ghost, but more sentient. He should probably go to Clockwork.Â
   The ghost boy floated around, soul in tow, until he approached a large clocktower.
  âHello? Clockwork?â Danny called out into the dark entryway. He glanced around until his eyes landed on a familiar purple cloak. The boyâs mentor, currently in the form of a baby, turned around to greet his pupil. The babyâs form shifted into a frail, old man.
  âHello, Daniel, what have you come to ask?â
  âOk, so I was on my way back home when I came across this soul, and I donât know which afterlife it belongs to,â Danny pointed to the blue creature next to him.
  âAh, yes, I havenât seen one of those souls in a very long time. This soul belongs to the House of Hades,â Clockwork moved to inspect the soul, â Usually these souls are sent directly to Hades, but it appears this one got lost. Would you mind, Young Daniel, escorting it back to the Underworld?â
   Danny looked up at his mentor, now in the form of a young adult, and nodded. The Ghost of Time passed the boy a scroll with directions as well as a giant sack of meat. It was time to go to the Underworld.
   Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Â
     In the darkness of the Underworld, the young prince prepares food for the fiercest of protectors, Cerberus the three headed hound.
  âOh, youâre back, Old Man.âÂ
  Zagreus, Son of Hades, grabbed the sack of meat he prepared to feed his favorite guard dog. He walked down the cold, dry halls of the House of Hades until he reached the back of the Temple.
    The Prince wanders the halls of the House. He does not know what he shall find further ahead. Will it be a great ally? Or a deadly foe? Either way the Fates have something in store.
   âYou know I can still hear you, Right?âÂ
   Zagreus sighed. There must be something, other than Cerberus ahead. Slowly, Zagreus crept down the hall, preparing for battle if necessary. He couldnât believe what he saw next.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Danny just finished returning the soul. He decided not to venture too deep into the Underworld, totally not out of fear, and dropped the prodigal off at the main entrance.Â
   When he first arrived at the House, he heard a large growl. Cerberus, the massive three-headed hound, showed three sets of fangs to the unsuspecting ghost boy.
   Danny, not having any concept of danger, decided to treat the giant beast like he would any dog, and allowed it to give him sniffs. He floated up closer to the middle head. The creatureâs giant noses created gusts of wind as it took in Dannyâs scent. Danny braced himself for rejection, but instead felt a large nose bump into him, more specifically, into the bag of meat. The boy mentally thanked Clockwork, and presented Cerberus with the meat.
   In an instant, the ferocious hell-hound turned into an oversized puppy. Danny smiled as he offered the dog pets. He kind of reminded Danny of Cujo. The boy continued scratching under one of the dog's ears. He didn't hear the incoming footsteps.
  "Who the hell are you?"
   Danny whipped his head around. On the opposite side of the hallway stood a rather imposing figure. A guy, who looked just a tad older than Danny, crossed his arms and glared. He was dressed like a Greek god, and was built like one too. This was gonna be interesting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Zagreus didn't know what he was expecting, maybe some monster or a demigod or something, but it definitely wasn't a flying boy in a strange outfit. The weirdest part was that Cerberus had not attacked the intruder, in fact, the intruder was petting him? It was then that Zagreus noticed the sack of meat on the floor. Ah, bribery. Welp time to get this party started.
   "Who the hell are you?"
   The boy jolted into a defensive position. Zagreus noticed him analyzing his opponent. He was definitely a seasoned fighter, and not to be underestimated. The boy put on a nervous expression and responded:
  "I wasâŠjust leaving! Nice place you got here, uh, sir! I'll just be, uh, scooting out this gateway here."
  The culprit was trying to escape. Zagreus sighed. He may be new here, but he still must face the same justice.Â
   "You are not allowed to intrude into the House of Hades, for that you must pay."
   He drew out Stygius, Blade of the Underworld.
   Danny eyed the blade carefully. It looks like there's gonna be a fight. Maybe he can talk the guy with the sword out of it?
  âWe, we don't really have to fight! I can just lea-â
  Zagreus charged full-force at the stranger. The prince only had a few moments to process the glowing blue in his opponent's hand before he was met with another sword.
   Danny used his newly crafted ice sword to ward off his attacker. He eventually was able to get a lucky hit in and knock the weapon out of Zagreus's hand.
   âCould we maybe, I don't know, talk about things instead of fighting?â
   âNo,â was the princeâs curt reply before drawing another weapon, a spear. Where the hell did that even come from?
   Zagreus spun the Eternal Spear into the intruder's sword. The ice shattered like glass. Looks like it was time for a new plan.Â
   Danny summoned some ectoblasts and started shooting at the prince from a distance. Despite his efforts, Zagreus persisted and started backing Danny into a corner.
   Danny sighed.
   âI didn't want to have to do this, but you gave me no choice.âÂ
   The Underworld shook with the echoes of ghostly screaming. Stalactites cracked and crumbled onto the ground. Cerberus whined from the loud noise. Zagreus cupped his ears, yet still persisted.Â
    Danny continued his Ghostly Wail until his throat was raw. Exhaustion waved over him. It's been a while since he's used that, he forgot how draining it was.
   Seeing the prince disoriented, he allowed himself to meet the floor. He couldn't fight more if he tried.
   Zagreus's ears were ringing, but he noticed his opponent was down. He did not hesitate to take the opportunity to trap the boy.
    Danny looked up at the two-pronged spear aimed at his throat.
 "WAIT!!!.....please," Danny croaked out. The prince stared down at him, refusing to let down his guard. Nevertheless, he let him continue.
  "I was sent here by my mentor to return a soul. I'm a psychopomp. I guide souls to their respective afterlives. I was on my way home when I found one of yours. I promise I never meant to intrude!"
   Zagreus looked down at the young ghost. He could be telling the truth, but he also could be lying. He scanned the boy for any indication of falsehood. He found none.
   Slowly, he let up on the ghost, refusing to break eye contact. The boy breathed a sigh of relief.Â
  "Well, now that that's settled, my name is Danny, Danny Phantom, what's yours?"
Prompt: As they grow more liminal, Tucker develops tech based powers. Sam, traumatized by Undergrowth, is afraid her powers will be plant based.Â
 =======
"⊠and when I turned around there she was! Jessica all reformed and looking absolutely stunning. Do you know what she did right after?" The sounds of the Casper High were muted around the duo, Sam unenthusiastically chewing on her alfalfa toast. Tucker's words washed over her as she listened with a half ear.
 "Earth to Sam? Are you even listening to me?"
 Okay, maybe less than half an ear. She gives Tucker an apologetic smile, but from his face it might come off as more of a grimace. Â
"Did she confess her undying love to you?" Snarking usually could cover up a blunder like this, and it seemed to work as Tucker gave her a disapproving glare.
 "No, she said *Hello World*, but don't think that will distract me from what's going on with you." Sam couldn't help the grimace as Tucker leaned in. "Are you still avoiding your green house?" He asked, tone softening but Sam still flinched. She wished Danny was here instead of chasing down the Ghost of the day. He would help distract Tucker.
 She debated briefly on lying to him, on deflecting like they've done so many times before. Instead what she found herself saying was, "Later.. After school okay?" He didn't look happy but eventually Tucker nodded.
 "After school," he says like a threat, pointing his chili dog to her, meat slipping from it much to her disgust. Falling into the same familiar patterns of banter and this time Sam committed to listening. Tucker's developing powers were exciting and she could see the joy it sparked in him. She only wished she could feel the same.
 Sam tried not to feel bad as she dodged around the other students of Casper High. The last bell had just rang, signaling the end of a school day and Sam's last class wasn't with Tucker. Danny appeared to be dealing with whatever ghostly mischief for the day. It wasn't either that she didn't want to talk to either of them, more that she was worried. Worried they would mock her or scoff at her and brush it off, but perhaps the biggest worry of all was that they might believe her.
 It'd been months since her and Tucker had began to develop powers, from what Danny could pry out of his mentors was due to the continuous exposure to the ghost zone, both by the portal and their trips into the zone with the GAV.
 It was exciting at first, both her and Tucker swept up in the fact they were essentially getting leveled up. Their strength growing and eyes glowing, occasionally Sam almost felt like she could fly. She should have known other powers were going to sprout as well.
 She was thrown from her thoughts by a sudden arm thrown over her shoulder, feeling a chill in the air as Danny hugged her. Tucker was such a tattletale. As if summoned by her thoughts Tucker appeared on her other side, pinning her in between them. "You ass, you called Danny in for this?" She growled to the techie.
 "Hey you were the one running, I'm just making sure you keep up your part of the bargain." He defended as the three made their way down the street.
 The trio walked in silence for a long while, bypassing their usual turn off and instead heading to a scrap of land not far out from city limits. It was uneven ground, dipping low with trees struggling to compete with recent housing developments and resources. A small beaten path led them deeper into a proper forest, trees gaining height the further they got from town. At this point Sam knew exactly where they were going.
 Further into the forest, when the last sounds of the city had finally dropped to an almost whispering hum, they arrived at the Ditch. It had probably been a riverbed before Amity Park had been made, but now it was just a gentle dip in the ground, adventurous saplings taking root in the bottom. The three of them hung out at the Ditch a lot before Danny's accident, either helping clear the area or picking up any garbage that found it's way here. Now it looked quite overgrown, bits of litter strewn through the Ditch. Sam felt indignant on nature's behalf, turning to Tucker to find him already taking out a trash bag and handing it to her.
 "You just have trash bags in your pocket?" She asked him slightly amused as she watched Danny take one as well.
 "Not pockets, in my pack, never know when they'll come in handy." Tucker grins, sliding down the small slope to get to the bottom of the Ditch. Following after him Sam felt herself get lost in the familiar motions of just taking care of nature.
 "Sooo⊠Wanna tell us a bit of what's going on?" Danny asks, breaking the fragile peace Sam felt. She bites back a scathing retort instead shrugging as she shoves more soda cans into her own bag, how can someone chug this much soda was anyone's guess.
 "Nothing much to talk about," She mumbles, only for Tucker to snort, turning from his corner.
 "She's avoiding her green house," he shamelessly tattles on her.
 "Tucker!" Sam hisses, swatting at him as he chuckles and dodges out of the way. "I'm not avoiding it⊠I'm just⊠focusing on other things right now."
 "You're not going to become Undergrowth." Sam whips her head to Danny who had his back on her, leaning down to continue to pick up the litter in the Ditch. She could see the tips of his ears, which were a bright red as he continues to face away from her.
 Sam scowled, turning back to her own trash. "I know that," She snaps, shoving everything she could reach into her own bag. But her hands shook as she did, remembering how smothered under the power Undergrowth had given her felt, how intoxicating to be in control of plants, twining her deeper into the flora. She had felt something⊠similar budding the last few weeks when she made her rounds in her green house. Sam wasn't sure she wanted to know what it would bud into, feeling like she already went down this path before.
 She could still hear Danny shuffle behind her and out of the corner of her eye she could see Tucker fumbling with his own garbage bag, all amusement sucked from his face.
 "I know you know it, but do you believe it?" Sam swore she almost snapped her neck looking back to Danny, but he still hadn't turned towards her. "Jazz would say the same thing to me about Dan, and logically I knew she was right⊠but I couldn't bring myself to believe her." The woods were completely silent as Danny spoke, "I worried that if I relaxed, if I didn't keep myself in check, then my worst fears would come true and Dan would be back."
 "DannyâŠ" Sam started before Tucker jumped in.
 "I still avoid the Egyptian section of the museum," he blurts out, flushing darkly as Danny and Sam look his way. "I still can't believe that⊠that the Pharaoh looked just like me, that I'm probably some sort of descendent or maybe even a fucked up reincarnation of some evil king thousands of years ago. Sometimes it feels like that's all I'll ever be or if I slip up then I'll become King Tuck all over again." Â
 Sam knew she should say something reassuring, but what comes out of her mouth instead is, "We're all a little fucked up and evil aren't we?" As soon as the words are out Sam stiffens, feeling heat quickly flush over her face and down her neck, knowing she was probably as red as a cherry. Yet her mouth keeps on running, "I think I have a lot of catching up to do as I was just coerced to the evil side instead of seeing it was my past or future."
 Thank fuck it worked as Danny cracks a smile and Tucker shakes his head with a soft huffing laugh. They had did some good work on cleaning the Ditch, the three of them unceremoniously flopping down on a nearby log to rest, their trash bags carefully set next to them. It was an easy silence, Sam feeling tension bleed from her shoulders as she sits between her two boys, letting their presence ground her.
 It was quiet for a bit more, the soothing sounds of nature filling their silence before Danny's impatience got the better of him and he leaned gently against Sam, nudging her. "So with us here to keep you in check maybe you can show us your powers?" He asked looking to her with hopeful eyes, wanting to know what Sam kept wrapped up so tightly.
 Glaring half heartedly before rolling her eyes, Sam just nodded, ignoring the tight coil of dread in her heart. She had her boys here, they wouldn't let her go to far.
 "Awesome, now come on show us what you've got." Sam could only smile at Danny's enthusiasm, but his confidence was infectious and she found herself closing her eyes. Reaching for the tight bundle she had shoved down as soon as it had tried to sprout. Fear still pulsed within her, dozens of what if's and horror scenarios running through her mind but she felt⊠quite okay. With Tucker's warm hand in hers and Danny's leaning on her side, Sam felt even if she did somehow turned into a jerk like Undergrowth, her two boys would beat some sense back into her.
 With that reassuring thought Sam let her power bloom. She was instantly overcome with it. The forest around her seemed to come alive with music, or rather like she had turned a dial on the radio, finding herself swept up in the song of Nature. It was beautiful and Sam found herself swaying with the music of the forest, a soft humming slipping from her as she felt immersed in her gift. She could feel her boys gasp beside her, Tucker's hand tightening on hers as Danny shoved himself closer but she was too far gone to care.
 Her and the forest were in complete harmony, the forest felt delighted by her presence, brushings of *friend/protector/new friend* like leaves against her consciousness. It was nothing like the power of Undergrowth, she felt the plants but there was so much more to it, as if the entire forest fauna and flora both were combined and sentient. She was about to explore this even deeper when she was drawn from her musings by a shaking on her shoulder. Feeling slightly irritated with the interruption, Sam sent a scowl to Tucker's way, "What--," before cutting herself off, seeing or rather feeling what has both Tucker and Danny so stiff next to her.
 Animals had completely surrounded the three of them, looking as if the whole fauna of the forest had come out to sit around Sam. She could even see a few black bears hanging back, sitting placidly by some white tailed deer. Coyotes by rabbits and mice and even a glimpse of a cougar in the trees. Birds of all shapes and sizes were in the branches as well, from eagles to hawks and owls. Smaller hummingbirds Sam could feel begin to land on her arms and head as mice begin to climb onto her lap. They were all here for her, she could feel it now, the forest reaching out to greet her as she opened her heart up to it. She had cared for this forest, for all of nature and she could feel it's solid presence and acceptance, like a steady rough tree bark against her skin.
 Her boys relaxed beside her, seeming to sense this was Sam's power, as more animals clustered closer. Tucker gave an sudden exaggerated gasp. "You're a fucking Disney Princess!" He shouts, causing some of the more timid animals to scamper away from him. Danny let out a choking laugh as Sam gave Tucker her best withering glare, but he only smiled wider.
 Sam growled, "I am not--," then stops feeling a few more birds land on her head, mice curled up in her pockets and even a frog that landed on Tucker's head making him fall back and scream. She really was a Disney Princess now, she thought with horror. The forest tittered in her ears, amusement curling around her and Sam found she didn't mind being a Disney Princess. Those ladies were still kickass, she could be the first goth princess, plus if she was a Disney Princess then she could do this.
 Turning an evil grin onto Tucker who froze on the ground seeming to realize how much he fucked up, "Sit on him," She told her new animal friends and there was a flurry of fur as Tucker shrieks before he's buried under the bulk of the large bear, only his poor arm flailing around as he tried to shift the bulk of probably 200 pounds of black bear off of him. Sam and Danny sniggered before Sam gestured for the bear to get up, revealing a Tucker who gave Sam a glare. It only served to make the two of them laugh even harder falling off the log by him.
 "You're already mad with power," Tucker intoned ominously, before dissolving into giggles as well.
 The animals slowly began to disperse as the three continued their break, finally relaxed and a new understanding of themselves and each other.
 "You know, with my control over tech, Danny's control of blob ghosts and Sam's control over nature, we totally could be a world dominating club." Tucker mused, making Sam and Danny groan as they begin to sit up, their introspective mood broken. "What I'm just saying, we've got  all the makings of it! We could just start small and overthrow Vlad!" At that Danny paused, looking thoughtful while Sam sighed again.
 "Let's table it for later, for now want to come over to my place to drop this garbage off and make my mom lose her head as we play Doomed?" Fighting off a  smile at the two whoops of joy, she picks up the trash bags, a hand gliding gently over the bark of the nearest tree and feeling the whole forest brush once more against her, like a warm and dewy cat. With her boys at her back and the nature around her, she finally believed.
