Take the best Therapeutic Diet Plan for Diabetes
Tumblr media
You can manage and treat your diabetes with a variety of treatments. Everybody has a unique body type, thus the course of therapy will depend on what you need specifically before following any therapeutic diet plan for diabetes.
You will require the usage of insulin to manage your type 1 diabetes. You can use a pump or an injection to administer the insulin. Although you may initially be able to control Type 2 diabetes by eating healthily and moving more, you may eventually need to take insulin or medications.
At the Diabetic Management Program, patients can discover a sympathetic and caring team of medical professionals that can help them develop a diabetes treatment plan. To properly manage the disease, patients with diabetes collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of primary care doctors, case managers, and certified diabetes educators.

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
𝟭. being consistent in journaling ( 🪻 )
i have recently started journaling more consistently and would like to maintain this line. i tried several times to start, failing miserably, because i couldn't find a method that would keep me motivated for a long time. then i purchased the famous five minutes gratitude journal, which is much easier to keep, and which i manage to update almost every day because by simply having to answer the pre-set questions my brain doesn't experience it as a commitment, unlike writing a diary page. alongside the fmj i have another diary with blank pages that i use as a proper diary, writing my reflections, talking about my day, complaining about negative things and stuff like that. i must say that it's therapeutic. i hope this is the right time i can maintain consistency in writing.
𝟮. having a more balanced diet ( 🍋‍🟩 )
i admit i've been eating like shit lately, a lot of sweets and processed foods alternated with periods of fasting due to guilt with the excuse of not having enough time to cook among the thousand things to do. i want to seriously commit to investing some of my time each week into preparing healthy, homemade meals (i could share some recipes here if you want, lmk) that keep me energized and don't ruin my hard work at the gym by adding empty calories to my diet.
𝟯. being consistent in the gym ( 🍄 )
and then obviously going to the gym at least 3 times a week, not really due to a matter of weight/aesthetics, but to cultivate discipline and focus. i believe that physically venting stress is the best and healthiest way to handle the crushing weight of life lately. sometimes i simply need to unload my energy without throwing a fit and risking venting it on someone who has nothing to do with it.
𝟰. reading at least 10 pages per day ( 📚 )
i love reading. i love reading madly, but i also know that i often find a thousand excuses not to do it. my brain fried by social media and zombie scrolling doesn't like the idea of concentrating on printed pages at all and i always put off reading all those books placed on my shelf gathering dust. i haven't read a book in months, so the time has come to break this bad habit and take back my greatest passion. i won't even mention all the benefits of reading, because only one book can give you so much in such a short time.
𝟱. sleep at least 8 hours ( ☕ )
i think my lack of sleep has a psychological component, but i'm no expert so what i say may not actually make any sense. i sleep little, much less than i need, when i was in high school i finished studying very late at night (past 3am) every day because i was so dependent on academic validation that the idea of getting a slightly lower grade than my usual could make me throw up. the thing is, i always delay going to sleep, even though my body is begging me to do so, and i think it's due to an inherent fear that the next day i'll have to go through it all over again. consequently in the morning i'm a wreck and i have to drag myself out of bed, being 30% as productive as i actually could be. i think it's time to work on my sleep schedule much more seriously, i think it could boost my health a lot.
𝟲. spend 15min in the sun every day ( ☀️ )
as a woman i know how important it is to be in the sun to produce vitamin D, unfortunately for me i'm some kind of goblin vampire who can't stay in the sun for more than five minutes without getting sunburned – on top of that my eyes start to water when the light too strong. i'll arm myself with sunscreen and give my body what it needs, hoping i won't get arthritis in my forties.
let me know in the comments what are YOU planning to improve in the near future <3

The Pragmatic Witch's tips on building self-esteem and self-worth
There's plenty of tools you can use for building self-esteem and self-worth. While you use these practices, you can use Sunstone and Rhodonite for self-soothing and ease of mind. Let's elaborate on insights with a cognitive-behavioral, pragmatic, and authentic approach to improving self-esteem and self-worth:
Positive Self-Talk: Start with self-awareness about your self-talk. Many people have negative thought patterns. Challenge these thoughts, question their validity, and replace them with positive, empowering self-talk.
Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, just as you would a friend in a similar situation. Self-compassion involves recognizing that everyone makes mistakes and faces challenges.
Set Realistic Goals: Create achievable, realistic goals for yourself. This can help build a sense of accomplishment. Each goal achieved adds to your self-esteem.
Self-Reflection: Take time to reflect on your experiences, especially when something doesn't go as planned. What can you learn from these experiences? How can you grow from them?
Mindfulness and Meditation: Incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine. These practices can help you stay grounded, reduce anxiety, and improve self-awareness.
Building Competence: One of the best ways to boost self-esteem is by building competence in various areas of life. This involves learning new skills, improving existing ones, and gaining a sense of mastery.
Seek Support: Don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or a therapist. Sometimes, discussing your feelings and experiences with someone can provide valuable insights and emotional support.
Resilience: Learn to bounce back from setbacks. This involves developing emotional resilience and adaptability when facing challenges.
Journaling: Keep a journal to track your thoughts, feelings, and progress. Writing can be therapeutic and help you identify patterns or triggers for low self-esteem.
Express Gratitude: Practice gratitude by acknowledging the positive aspects of your life. This can help shift your focus from what you lack to what you have.
Take Care of Your Physical Health: Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep can have a profound impact on your self-esteem. A healthy body can contribute to a healthy mind.
Embrace Imperfection: Accept that perfection is an unrealistic standard. It's okay to make mistakes, and no one is flawless. It's our imperfections that make us unique.
Avoid Social Comparisons: Constantly comparing yourself to others can undermine your self-worth. Focus on your own journey and personal growth.
Personal Values: Identify your core values and use them as a compass to guide your actions and decisions. Living in alignment with your values can boost your self-esteem.
Celebrate Achievements: When you achieve a goal, no matter how small, celebrate it. Recognize your efforts and the progress you've made.
By following these cognitive-behavioral and pragmatic strategies while incorporating your personal touch of authenticity, you can work toward building and maintaining healthy self-esteem and self-worth. These practices don't rely on mystical or magical elements but are grounded in psychological well-being and self-improvement. Is there a specific aspect you'd like to delve deeper into, or do you have any questions regarding these insights?

The Ketogenic Diet Market: Statistics & Facts
Tumblr media
Introduction to the Ketogenic Diet
The ketogenic diet, often referred to as "keto," is a low-carb, high-fat dietary regimen that has gained significant popularity in recent years. The primary principle of the keto diet is to induce a state of ketosis in the body, where fat becomes the primary source of energy instead of carbohydrates. By drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fats, the body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy. Additionally, it transforms fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain.
Exploring the Ketogenic Diet Market
The keto diet market has witnessed exponential growth over the past decade. According to data from Statista, the global ketogenic diet market size was valued at approximately USD 9.07 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach USD 15.64 billion by 2027. This surge is driven by an increasing awareness of the diet’s benefits, a growing number of health-conscious consumers, and the rise of obesity and related health issues. Market trends indicate a robust demand for keto-friendly products such as snacks, beverages, supplements, and meal replacements.
Benefits and Challenges of the Ketogenic Diet
Benefits
Weight Loss: One of the most touted benefits of the ketogenic diet is its effectiveness in promoting weight loss. By limiting carbohydrate intake and increasing fat consumption, the body is forced to burn stored fat for fuel, leading to weight loss.
Improved Blood Sugar Control: The keto diet has been shown to improve blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity, making it beneficial for individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Enhanced Mental Clarity and Focus: Many proponents of the keto diet report improved mental clarity and focus, as ketones are a potent source of fuel for the brain.
Increased Energy Levels: By providing a steady supply of energy from fats, the keto diet helps prevent energy crashes that are often associated with high-carb diets.
Challenges
Keto Flu: When starting the diet, some people experience flu-like symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, and irritability, often referred to as the "keto flu."
Nutrient Deficiencies: The restrictive nature of the diet can lead to nutrient deficiencies if not carefully planned.
Digestive Issues: Some individuals may experience digestive issues such as constipation due to the low fiber content of the diet.
Sustainability: Maintaining a ketogenic diet can be challenging in the long term due to its restrictive nature.
The Role of the Ketogenic Diet in Weight Management and Overall Health
The ketogenic diet has proven to be an effective tool for weight management. Studies have shown that individuals on a keto diet tend to lose more weight and maintain it longer compared to those on low-fat diets. The diet's ability to reduce appetite by controlling hunger hormones is a key factor in its success. Moreover, the keto diet has potential benefits for various health conditions, including epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and certain types of cancer. By reducing inflammation and improving metabolic health, the keto diet can positively impact overall health and wellness.
The Future of the Ketogenic Diet
The future of the ketogenic diet looks promising, with ongoing research and emerging trends pointing towards continued growth. Market predictions suggest an increase in the availability of keto-friendly products, making it easier for consumers to adhere to the diet. Additionally, advancements in personalized nutrition and technology are likely to play a significant role in the development of tailored keto plans and products. As more scientific research is conducted, new insights into the long-term effects and potential therapeutic applications of the ketogenic diet will continue to emerge.
Practical Tips for Incorporating the Ketogenic Diet
Start Slow: Gradually reduce your carbohydrate intake while increasing your fat consumption to allow your body to adapt to the new fuel source.
Plan Your Meals: Planning your meals in advance can help you stay on track and avoid reaching for non-keto foods.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is crucial, as the keto diet can lead to increased water loss.
Monitor Your Macros: Keep track of your macronutrient intake to ensure you are staying within the recommended ranges for carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
Include Electrolytes: Incorporate foods rich in electrolytes, such as leafy greens, avocados, and nuts, to prevent imbalances.
Be Patient: Give your body time to adjust to the diet and don’t get discouraged by initial side effects such as the keto flu.
Conclusion
The ketogenic diet offers a unique and effective approach to weight management and overall health. With its growing popularity and market expansion, keto is more accessible than ever. By understanding its benefits and challenges, and following practical tips for incorporation, individuals can leverage the power of the ketogenic diet to achieve their health and wellness goals. As ongoing research continues to unlock new insights, the future of the ketogenic diet holds exciting possibilities for both consumers and the health industry.

The Best Treatment for Leucoderma with Indian Herbs by Old Forest Ayurved
While conventional medicine offers various treatments, many individuals seek natural alternatives for managing and potentially reversing this condition. Best Treatment for Leucoderma with Indian herbs has been celebrated for their therapeutic properties for centuries, and Old Forest Ayurved harnesses the power of these herbs to provide effective treatments for Leucoderma. In this blog post, we will explore the best Ayurvedic treatments for leucoderma offered by Old Forest Ayurved.
Understanding Leucoderma
Leucoderma is caused by the destruction of melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color.
The exact cause of this destruction is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve autoimmune factors, genetic predisposition, and environmental triggers. While leucoderma is not life-threatening, it can significantly impact an individual’s self-esteem and quality of life.
Ayurvedic Perspective on Leucoderma
In Ayurveda, leucoderma is known as "Shwitra" or "Kilasa" and is believed to result from an imbalance in the body’s doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. According to Ayurvedic principles, leucoderma is primarily a Pitta disorder, often exacerbated by factors such as stress, poor diet, and toxins in the body.
Old Forest Ayurveda’s Herbal Remedies for Leucoderma
Old Forest Ayurved offers a range of herbal treatments designed to address the root cause of leucoderma and promote healthy skin pigmentation. Here are some of the key herbs and formulations used:
Bakuchi : It contains psoralen, a compound that promotes melanin production. Bakuchi oil and powder are often used topically and internally to treat leucoderma. Regular application can help restore skin color and reduce the appearance of white patches.
Neem : Neem is renowned for its detoxifying and immune-boosting properties. Neem oil and capsules are commonly used in Ayurvedic treatments for leucoderma to support overall skin health.
Haldi: Haldi is a potent rejuvenating herb that aids in detoxification and promotes healthy digestion. It helps balance the body’s doshas and supports the healing process of the skin. Haldi powder can be taken internally to assist in managing leucoderma.
Manjistha : It helps improve blood circulation and promotes the regeneration of healthy skin cells. Manjistha can be used both internally and externally to enhance skin health.
Khadira: Khadira is another valuable herb in Ayurveda known for its skin-healing properties. It helps cleanse the blood and supports the immune system. Khadira decoction or powder can be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for leucoderma.
Panchakarma Therapy
In addition to herbal remedies, Old Forest Ayurved also offers Panchakarma therapy—a series of detoxifying and rejuvenating treatments that help restore balance to the body. Panchakarma includes procedures such as Virechana (therapeutic purgation), Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), and Basti (medicated enema) to eliminate toxins and improve overall health.
Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations
Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of diet and lifestyle in managing leucoderma. Old Forest Ayurved provides personalized dietary guidelines to help balance the doshas and support skin health. A diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats is recommended, along with the avoidance of processed foods, alcohol, and excessive caffeine. Stress management techniques such as yoga and meditation are also encouraged to maintain overall well-being.
Leucoderma can be a challenging condition to manage, but with the right approach, significant improvements can be achieved. Love’s Maze (BretShawn)

As Shawn focuses on self-improvement, he reflects on his feelings for Bret. Owen concocts a plan.
a/n: The story will be more BretShawn-focused from here on out!
Tumblr media
Shawn noticed a shift within himself after his run-in with Marty.
Although their talk was hard, it was oddly therapeutic. Saying goodbye to Marty for the last time allowed Shawn to get the closure he didn’t know he needed. It solidified that they were done for good, and Shawn was ok with that.
He could finally move on with no regrets.
In the spirit of moving on, Shawn decided to take his own advice and focus on himself. After so many years of relying on someone else for happiness and validation, he needed to put himself first.
It was during his time away with his parents that Shawn realized just how many red flags he ignored in his failed relationship.
One thing that stood out like a sore thumb was Marty’s possessiveness. Anything involving Shawn came down to Marty’s decision. From his hairstyle to his clothes, to who he could hang out with, even down to his diet. Marty had to have a say in all of it.
At the time, Shawn didn’t give it much thought. He usually wrote it off as Marty knowing what’s best for him, Marty caring for him, Marty showing him that he loved him.
It took Shawn being far removed from the situation for him to realize what it truly was.
Control.
Marty needed to feel like he was in control at all times – in control of their careers, in control of their relationship, and more importantly, in control of Shawn.
And Shawn let him.
But now that Marty was a nonfactor, Shawn was determined to find himself again, and part of that included working on himself and focusing on the things that mattered to him. Not anyone else.
His first order of business was throwing out his leftover boxes of bleached hair dye. He’d rather rock his natural blond than to ever lighten his hair again. Although it gave him his signature look in The Rockers, it wasn’t Shawn.
He also made a conscious effort to eat a cleaner diet and work out more frequently. Now that he was solo, he no longer had to skip workouts or cut his sessions short due to Marty not being in the mood.
But Shawn didn’t just want a healthier body. He wanted a healthier mindset as well.
The toughest decision for the blond was cutting down on his consumption of drugs and alcohol.
Marty introduced Shawn to multiple substances throughout the relationship. And although Shawn didn’t use as heavily as Marty, he knew he was on the verge of having a problem if he didn’t at least try to slow down.
Shawn also took it upon himself to bury the hatchet with some of the guys he’d burnt bridges with in the locker room, which was no easy feat. Some of them were willing to forgive and forget. However, many of the guys were not as receptive, understandably so. But to be fair, Marty was the cause of 95% of Shawn’s locker room troubles.
Regardless of the mixed reaction, Shawn felt better after clearing the air, no longer having the pressure to ignore the guys or be rude to them in hopes of appeasing Marty.
Closing the chapter with Marty also allowed Shawn to finally acknowledge the complex feelings he’d been having for the one person who’d been a constant comfort in his life lately – Bret.
He tried to ignore it at first – the butterflies in his stomach, the smile that spread involuntarily across his face when Bret spoke to him in passing, the way his heart skipped a beat when his hand accidentally brushed Bret’s, or the way his face reddened whenever Bret gave him a compliment.
But that was easier said than done.
“Earrings,” Bret asked incredulously as he watched Shawn scrutinize his appearance in great detail via the locker room mirror.
Shawn locked eyes with Bret through the mirror, asking, “It looks silly, doesn’t it?”
Seeing the doubt in Shawn’s eyes, Bret smiled softly, “No. I think it suits you.”
Shawn flashed a hopeful smile, turning towards Bret as he said, “Really? You don’t think it’s a bit much?”
“No, Shawn. You look good in anything, so stop psyching yourself out in that pretty little head of yours.”
Shawn raised an interested brow before batting his eyes and asking playfully, “So you think I’m pretty?”
Without missing a beat, Bret said matter-of-factly, “Yes.”
Shawn was stunned into silence, abruptly retreating back to the mirror to hide the blush that was quickly making its way across his cheeks as he continued getting ready for his match.
Unfortunately for him, Bret caught the blush in the mirror, sporting a smile of his own before leaving the room to find Owen.
Shawn’s feelings became even more complicated once he began having wet dreams that involved Bret. He was quick to write it off the first time it happened. He’d even avoid Bret for two days after it happened just to try and clear his mind.
However, it wasn’t long before it became a regular occurrence for the blond to wake up a sweaty mess in his hotel bed. And he felt so horrible and guilty about it – guilty because he knew he shouldn’t be thinking of his friend in such a leud way.
But that’s what made it so complicated. Bret was such a good friend to him, and Shawn would hate to ruin it just because he allowed his feelings to get in the way.
He was also hesitant to act on his feelings because things with Marty had started out the same way. Marty was such a good friend, so sweet to him, and made him feel special. And then it all went to shit. Shawn just couldn’t allow himself to go through that again.
Unbeknownst to Shawn, Bret was going through his own inner turmoil when it came to the blond. Despite being around Shawn nearly every day, Bret never got tired of the younger man. And his attraction to Shawn only seemed to grow the more time they spent together.
He appreciated that Shawn allowed him to see another side of him – a side that was only reserved for close friends and family. He wasn’t the cocky arrogant man that many people deemed him as in the locker room. Bret got to see him for who he truly was.
Bret so desperately wanted to pursue Shawn. It was hard not to when they got along so well. However, he didn’t want to push. And it’s not like he knew if Shawn would return his feelings. So until Shawn was ready, Bret would be the friend he needed.
However, Owen had a plan of his own.
While Bret and Shawn were unaware of the other’s interest, their connection was painfully obvious to Owen. Watching the two of them dance around each other was really exhausting, and he intended on letting Bret know about it.
“This is getting really annoying,” said Owen as he barged into the locker room.
Bret lifted his head, rolling his eyes when he saw Owen standing there with his hands on his hips as he irately tapped his foot on the floor. Bret continued lacing his boots saying, “And you’re really annoying. What are you even talking about?”
“You and Shawn. Just seal the deal already!”
Bret came to a stop, dropping the laces that were in his hands as he looked up at Owen. “Huh? What do you mean? Shawn and I are friends.”
“Oh really?”
Bret said flatly, “Really.”
“Hmm.” It was now or never, Owen thought to himself. “What if I told you that Shawn likes you, too?” Bret gave a straight face, causing Owen to insist, “I’m serious! He just told me!”
Shawn had, in fact, NOT told Owen anything of the sort. But Bret didn’t need to know that.
Bret tilted his head inquisitively. He wanted to believe Owen. He really did. Bret had been so careful about not letting his feelings be known to Shawn, especially considering everything he’d gone through with Marty.
But if Shawn actually felt the same way about him, that certainly changed things.
However, Bret knew his brother was a prankster, and he wasn’t sure if he could trust anything coming out of Owen’s mouth. “Yeah, right,” said Bret as he finished up lacing his boots.
Owen looked on in disbelief, saying in exasperation, “You’re seriously not even going to try?!”
Done with his boots, Bret sat up in a huff, asking, “Why do you even care?”
“I…because you deserve to be happy, too, Bret.” That was the honest truth. As annoying as Owen could be, he really did love his big brother.
Owen was the first person that Bret reached out to when he found out his wife cheated on him. Owen was there for Bret throughout the entire divorce process, and he saw how upset and broken his brother was because of it.
He thought Bret would never find love again, the man being completely put off on the idea due to his failed marriage.
But things were different when Shawn came around.
It was the first time in a long time that Owen saw Bret take a serious interest in someone. It quickly became apparent to Owen that Bret wasn’t talking to Shawn just for a quick hookup. He actually liked the man. And Owen liked Shawn too. He thought Shawn would be a perfect fit for his uptight brother.
Shawn’s sneaky glances and soft smiles to Bret when he thought the man wasn’t looking – but Owen caught, of course – were enough for Owen to know that Shawn also felt something for his brother.
They just needed something to push them towards each other, and Owen would happily be that force. But it was kind of hard to do that with how oblivious Bret was.
Bret sighed as he stood up, walking towards Owen as he said, “Look, I’m glad you want to look out for me, Owen. I appreciate it. But my love life’s off limits, ok?”
Bret walked away, heading towards the door, but stopped at Owen’s words. “Fine. But don’t throw away your chance to let him know how you feel.”
Bret and Shawn weren’t able to see each other until later that night due to their conflicting schedules. Vince was really serious about pushing Shawn in the singles division with his Heartbreak Kid gimmick, so he’d become busier than usual, which was fine by him. He’d rather focus on working than worrying about his life’s problems.
After his match that night, Shawn returned to the Harts’ locker room. He was expecting to have a quick chat with the guys, but upon opening the door, he found that the locker room was empty.
After showering, he came to see that the room was still empty. Shawn really wanted to wait for the guys to return, but he was in a rush to get to the hotel. So after getting dressed, he picked up his bag and made his way towards the door.
Before he could reach the doorknob, the door opened to reveal Bret along with Owen, Jim, and Davey trailing behind him.
Owen’s eyes lit up as soon as he saw Shawn. “Hey, Shawn. You’re leaving already?”
“Yeah. I haven’t booked a room yet at the hotel, so I need to go see if there’s anything available.”
Owen turned to Bret, grinning proudly – a smile that usually meant trouble. “Oh, why don’t you just stay in Bret’s room-”
“Owen,” Bret hissed.
Owen shrugged innocently. “What? Jim and I are sharing, and Davey’s going home, so you’re not sharing with anyone. You’d really let Shawn chance being stranded at the hotel without a room?”
Shawn perked up, actually not minding rooming with the older man. But he shrank back a bit at Bret’s reaction, the room arrangement seeming to bother him.
Shawn chimed in, “It’s ok. I don’t want to be a bother. I could room with Scott if all else fails. See you later, guys.” He left the room quickly before he could hear Owen’s protests.
With Shawn out of sight, Bret turned to Owen, saying with much disdain, “What the hell are you doing?!”
Owen frowned, “I’m just trying to help you out because heaven knows you’re not helping yourself!”
Jim nodded saying, “He’s got a point.”
Davey agreed, “Yeah, why is it such a big deal?”
Owen exclaimed, “See?! Even they agree with me.”
Bret groaned, “All you’re doing is making things weird for us! You don’t know the shit Shawn’s been through and you trying to force us together isn’t helping anything!”
Owen threw up his hands in defeat. “Fine, whatever! I’m throwing in the towel. But when he gets swooped up by some other guy, I don’t want to hear you say shit about what you should have done!” Owen walked away in a huff as he headed towards the showers.
Owen’s last words rang clear in Bret’s head, and he really hated the few times that Owen was right.
Given Shawn’s past with Marty, Bret wanted to give him space, to treat him as a friend, to let Shawn see that he really was interested in getting to know him as a person.
However, Bret knew he would be devastated if he missed out on telling Shawn how he felt.
With his mind racing, Bret rushed out of the locker room hoping to catch Shawn before the blond left the arena. After searching through empty hallways, Bret spotted Shawn right as he was about to open the exit doors.
“Hey, Shawn! Wait up!” Bret shouted down the hall loud enough for Shawn to hear him.
Shawn’s hand rested on the door handle as he turned to see Bret jogging towards him, the older man slightly out of breath once he reached him.
Shawn asked with concern, “Hey. Is something wrong?”
“No, no,” Bret panted. He took a moment to get his breathing under control before saying, “Um, are you sure you don’t want to share a room? It really wouldn’t be a bother, Shawn.”
Shawn raised a brow, surprised that Bret had chased him down the hall to ask that question. “I’m sure I’ll be fine. Thanks for offering, though.”
Ok, that’s not the way Bret expected the conversation to go, but he wasn’t giving up.
“Oh, ok. Well…you could still swing by my room later if you want to hang out.”
Shawn tilted his head asking, “Hang out?”
Bret shifted awkwardly, saying as nonchalantly as he could muster, “Uh, yeah only if you want to. Here.” He pulled out a pen from his jacket as well as an old receipt that was tucked in his jeans before writing down his hotel room number on the back of the receipt.
He held out the piece of paper to Shawn saying, “Just in case.”
Shawn slowly took the paper from Bret, tightly gripping it between his fingers as if his life depended on it.
Bret gave Shawn a gentle pat on the shoulder before turning and walking back towards his locker room, heart pounding the whole way there.
Shawn watched for a moment as Bret left down the hallway. He then looked down at the paper in his hand, smiling gently to himself before walking out of the arena.

Fad diets were dangerous in the 1920s, too:
"Indeed, the 1920s were probably the high point of food faddism in the United States. Dietary evangelists of one stripe or another touted the health benefits of fasting, mastication, vegetarianism, fruitarianism, raw foods, sour milk, drinking two quarts of milk daily, the grape cure, no breakfast, no protein, hot water, no water with meals, coffee with meals, liver as a miracle food, and on and on. Many of these programs were supposed to enhance not only internal well-being but external beauty as well. After centuries of judging the curvaceous form ideal, millions of American women suddenly decided that the slim, “sylphlike,” and boyish body type was now the goal. They embarked on all kinds of reducing regimens, including the canned pineapple and lamb chop diet, supposedly popular among movie stars: “For breakfast the order is one lamb chop and one slice of pineapple. For luncheon two lamb chops and one slice of pineapple. For dinner two lamb chops and two slices of pineapple.” That combination of meat and fruit was somehow supposed to melt the pounds away. In fact, so many women—and more than a few men—were experimenting with drastic diets, high colonics, patent medicines, therapeutic soaps, and other nostrums guaranteed to shed pounds that thousands were ending up in hospitals, victims of physical and mental collapse. Alarmed, in 1926 the American Medical Association convened an “Adult Weight Loss Conference” in New York with leading doctors as speakers. After the conference, they drafted a widely reprinted, sixteen-part series of articles exposing the dangers of reducing fads and recommending a gradual plan consisting of exercise and a balanced, low-calorie diet. Their efforts mainly fell on deaf ears. At the end of the decade arose the Hollywood Diet, featuring a menu of grapefruit and various proteins and guaranteed to help you lose eighteen pounds in as many days. Once again, hospitals saw a rise in “cases of acidosis, jaundice, anaemia and similar complaints arising from malnutrition from its adherents” and issued a new series of health warnings."

I have 2 pediatric pts who had high blood lead levels. Their lead levels are now normal. But one of them has iron deficiency (even though her Hgb is normal).
Individuals who are severely iron deficient can absorb up to 7 times more lead, as the body responds to iron deficiency by dispatching increasing amounts of the iron transporter DMT1 into the gut. Unfortunately DMT1 can carry eight metals including lead and will transport lead if insufficient iron is available.
Source
From UpToDate: To initiate oral iron therapy, we suggest a dose of 3 mg/kg of elemental iron once daily, rather than higher doses. A 3 mg/kg dose of ferrous sulfate is generally effective and is tolerated by most children. For optimal absorption, the iron should be given in the morning or between meals and with water or juice. Milk and/or dairy products should be avoided for approximately one hour before and two hours after each dose.
Meanwhile, the following dietary goals should be implemented to prevent recurrence: •Infants (less than 12 months of age) should be fed with breast milk or iron-fortified formula. Infants should not be given low-iron formula or unmodified cow's milk.
•For patients six months and older, especially breastfed infants, ensure adequate consumption of iron in complementary foods. These include infant cereals, which are fortified with iron, foods rich in vitamin C, and pureed meats.
•For children older than 12 months of age, intake of milk (cow, almond, or soy) should be limited to less than 20 oz per day and bottle feeding should be discontinued to limit milk intake. Excessive milk intake is the primary reason for the development of IDA (Iron Defifiency Anemia) in this age group and can be associated with occult intestinal blood loss.
●After beginning therapeutic iron, perform follow-up testing to determine the response, consisting of a complete blood count (CBC) or hemoglobin (Hgb). The testing should be performed when the child is healthy, approximately four weeks after beginning iron therapy for children with mild anemia or one to two weeks after beginning iron therapy in those with moderate to severe anemia. Follow-up is essential to confirm that the anemia was due to iron deficiency and to ensure that it is adequately treated.
●Management of responders – If the Hgb has increased by 1 g/dL, therapy is continued for at least three months, at which time, the CBC is retested. Iron therapy should be given for at least three months, and many children require longer treatment courses to replenish iron stores. In general, iron therapy should be continued for at least one month after the Hgb reaches the age-adjusted normal range. If possible, a serum ferritin concentration should be measured to check iron stores prior to discontinuation of iron therapy, with a goal threshold of ≥20 ng/mL.
●Further evaluation for nonresponders – Patients who do not demonstrate an adequate response within four weeks of initiating iron therapy should be reevaluated. Potential causes of recurrent or refractory IDA include ineffective treatment (nonadherence or incorrect dosing), ongoing low-iron diet, an incorrect diagnosis, or ongoing blood loss or malabsorption. Our approach is as follows:
•Interview the parent or caregiver to determine whether the iron therapy has been given at the appropriate dose and timing, whether the appropriate diet modifications have been made, and if there has been any significant intercurrent illness (which might cause a transient decrease in Hgb). The most common reason for failure is that the treatment plan was not correctly followed.
•If the patient has indeed been taking an appropriate dose of iron and has not had an intercurrent illness, assess detailed dietary history and/or perform additional laboratory tests to confirm the diagnosis (eg, iron testing, if not previously performed) and rule out conditions that might simulate or complicate IDA such as thalassemia trait or anemia of chronic disease. In addition, for children with persistent or recurrent IDA despite appropriate dietary changes and iron therapy, stool samples should be tested for occult blood. If the results are positive, additional screening should be performed for common causes of gastrointestinal blood loss, including cow's milk protein-induced colitis in infants and celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease in older children.
●Intravenous (IV) iron therapy – IV iron therapy may be warranted for patients with severe or persistent anemia who have proven oral iron intolerance, malabsorption, or nonadherence despite family/caregiver education and support to optimize oral therapy. Several forms of IV iron therapy with good safety profiles are available for use in pediatrics. Selection among these options may depend on relative costs and availability, time required for administration, and maximum permissible dose per infusion.

Havnt really been on here in a hot minute, not that anyone besides my bestie reads these posts. Buts lifes pretty good. not great. but good.
Ive been with the guy i pined for for 2 1/2 years for about 2 months now, and we came to the silly realization our 6 month will be on my 16th birthday. its been everything ive dreamed off tbh. He still calls me his star boy (because i looked at him with stars in my eyes), and i still call him my peach, my pretty boy. He makes me feel pretty, and confident. He knows me like the back of his hand, and i know him like mine, even if he doesnt realize it. Nothings really changed, its almost like weve been together for the entirety of our time knowing each other, but at the same time everything just feels....better. Im not sure how to explain it, but do i really even have too? I love him just as ive always loved him, but in a new way now. And its nice. peaceful. the more im able to see him in person the more im able to start to see our hours long phone calls seep into real life. The jokes, the plans we made, ever so slowly becoming reality, its everying i could have hoped for.
My job is pretty great too. they sent me on this camp in this summer for leadership, and i did some pretty cool stuff. I got to pet a rhino, and a baby okapi. i got to examine dino skeletons, and got set up with the right people to make my own conservation. Since then, i got to go back to the camp, and work with those same people and animals once more. i got to feed the rhinos, help set up and look at the diets for the carnivores, and so much more.
there are other things of course, but my hands hurt, and peaches is calling. maybe i'll write again tmr, its kind of therapeutic in a way. Life gets better though, and im so glad

hi!
I haven't been diagnosed but I think I have OSFED.I been in recovery for 2 months. The thing is I am doing so without any medical help. I have no access to it. This makes me more susceptible to relapsing. My mom keeps talking about her weight, body etc. She asks me for diet tips since I've lost a significant amt of weight earlier (no, I wasn't underweight). But the thing is I am gaining now and all of it is very triggering. I can't talk to my mom or my dad or anyone.
I don't know if I should starve or overeat or just be. I don't know what to do anymore. There's no one I can ask for help irl. So here I am.
Hi, anon! If you do not have access to any supports or help at present, I suggest you look up your individual symptoms and see if you can find out what other people who have those symptoms do to cope with them. You can additionally do a little research to see what licensed therapists tend to try, although that's a little tricky as the existence of a therapeutic environment, as well as a therapist who understands the root causes of your symptoms, are both important factors in the therapeutic process. But at least getting a better understanding of symptom triggers might help you start figuring out ways to identify what's triggering specific symptoms and what you need to do to redirect them productively. Writing down your discoveries, understandings, and a healing plan might be helpful, although I suggest you store or scrap all traces of writings if your parents are the type to go through your stuff.
Gaining can be VERY triggering and scary. Even if you knew you were unwell, our society teaches us to take pride in weight loss and thinness, and gaining can be seen as losing that, or as loss of control in general. It also seems like you were getting a lot of positive attention for losing that weight, and I hope that one day you are surrounded by people who freely give you appreciation for more than just the physical. Until then, perhaps you can repeatedly write a few things you appreciated about yourself each day as part of your homestyle treatment plan? Things like "I was kind and supportive to my friend today" and "I had some very insightful responses to that reading I did" and even "I didn't feel like getting through my day today, but I did it anyway and that showed strength." You could also do body neutral ones like "My legs carried me throughout my day even though I was tired" or "My nose helped me appreciate being in the smell of autumn leaves." Anything specific to you.
I recommend you do the best you can to stick with intuitive eating, that is, eating enough when you feel hungry and stopping when you feel full. It can be really hard not to mess with your eating when it feels like the only way to express to others what effect they are having on you, but you've got to invest in yourself in the long run. Another thing you could practice are setting polite boundaries to people like your mom. For example "I'm actually not totally comfortable talking about my body and my weight right now. I don't think I'm going to do it." Keep in mind that depending on the way that these people are, they might react unhappily to these boundaries, and might try to stealthily push them later. But take a moment after each instance to separate yourself, get a breath, and remember that you are not responsible for their feelings about this or for the unhealthy ways they are trying to use you for their relationships with their own bodies. In the instance of your mother, for example, you are her child, not her therapist or her fitness coach or her nutritionist. As someone who is struggling with unhealthy eating patterns and damaged thoughts around food, your primary job right now is to prioritize your healing and to remind yourself that you're worth that effort.
Hope this helps! Let me know if there are specific symptoms you could use advice on.
