Soft Sighs in the Late Night, Red Eyes in the Early Morning
You always liked scurrying into König’s office when he was working. He didn’t often take his work home, but on the rare days he did you liked to bring him snacks and drinks while he studied the fine print of military contracts.
You creaked open the door and crept up carefully as you took in the sight of König by the yellow architect’s lamp. Placing the tray down, he paused his writing and looked up to you with a smile.
“Has it been that long already?” he chuckled as he leaned back to take a better look at you.
“Guess so,” you smiled, taking your place on the stool he left out for you and leaning on the desk.
König was always subtle in how he flipped his papers over when he put his fountain pen down. Once, you’d been offended by how he hid his work from you. Over time, you realized it was safer for him to keep his papers covered. He’d told you once of a man who’d had his wife kidnapped, and after meeting the shell she became, you decidedly left the papers unchecked.
He steepled his fingers over the pages and gave you a grin, “So, what has my little mouse been up to today?”
You sighed, “Work was hard. Aaron kept complaining about the new marketing campaign that head office has been working on. He kept going on and on about how it was stupid and nobody would ever buy into it.”
“He’s the one who is stuffy, ja?” König asked.
“He’s the one who was going on about how he bought his first home when he was twenty,” you groaned.
“Oh, that one,” König rolled his eyes, “I sometimes wonder what his Kinder think of him.”
“Last I heard he tried to send his son to some wilderness survival camp for smoking a joint with his friends,” you rubbed your temples, “I really try not to tell people how to parent their kids, but I just couldn’t let that go.”
“Did his son end up going?” König cringed.
“Thank God he didn’t,” you took a cracker from König’s snack bowl.
“Those are my snacks!” König huffed.
“Gotta pay the tax,” you munched away happily.
König grumbled as he scooched the bowl closer to him. It was a nice attempt, but you stole another cracker regardless. You only relented when you reached for a third, only for König to swat your hand away like some pesky fly.
“Rude,” you sniffed.
“The ends justify the means,” König replied dryly.
You rolled your eyes at that. König would be the type to quote Machiavelli, wouldn’t he? Sometimes you couldn’t believe him.
“Why did I ever marry you,” you rested your cheek on one hand.
“Because I’m a good provider,” König answered as he took a cracker into his long fingers, “though you do your fair share.”
“My fair share?” you scoffed, “I think I do a bit more than that!”
“You do,” König acquiesced, “but I’m still the provider.”
You decided that today wouldn’t be the day you tried to tackle König’s misogyny. You could always do that tomorrow, or the day after, or whenever it came up next.
“So, can you tell me anything about what you’re doing tonight?” you slumped down so your chin lay on the desk.
“A bit,” König smiled faintly, “it’s mostly just about an upcoming project in Serbia.”
You frowned, “You’re getting deployed soon?”
König gently brushed his hand through your hair with a faint smile, “I’m sorry, but it shouldn’t be long.”
“You always say that,” you grumbled.
“This is just a one week job. We’re protecting someone in a car convoy. It’s nothing too exciting,” König assured you, “they tell me that I probably won’t even see any action. It’ll just be a security job.”
“Can you tell me who you’re working for?” you asked hopefully.
“Nein,” König pressed a kiss to your forehead, “not until after. Then I’ll tell you everything I can.”
Of course, everything he could was always terribly limited, but that didn’t particularly matter. You were more interested in the stories of his day-to-day life than the grand plans of the powers that be.
“Do you know who’s coming with you?” you asked.
“Nikto is one,” König said, “and Askel.”
“Isn’t Askel kinda weird?” you scrunched up your face.
“Not weird,” König grimaced, “he’s just too chatty.”
“Maybe that would be good for you,” you pointed out.
“Maybe,” König shrugged, “but I like the quiet. Nikto is good; Nikto is very quiet.”
You nodded and nestled your head against his bicep, closing your eyes and taking a moment to breathe in the moment.
König brushed your hair through his fingers mindlessly. He seemed lost in thought, as he usually was before deployment. You hated the thought of coming home to an empty home for the next month, but you knew that this was just a part of dating König. You could never escape the shadow of KorTac.
“So, how long will you be gone?” you asked.
“The mission says one week, I’m thinking that it should be three,” König murmured into your hair, “it won’t be as long as the last.”
You cringed. You didn’t handle the last one well. You didn’t think you could deal with that again so soon after the last.
“I promise I’ll be safe.”
You burrowed your face into his arm.
“You always promise.”
A low chuckle.
“And I’m still here, ja?”
You sighed. He was right, he was still here. It didn’t mean you didn’t notice the new scars that decorated his body. He tried to hide them, but you always found them eventually. Thankfully, he didn’t tell you how he got them. Well, not unless they were funny.
“So, no Horangi to set you on fire again?” you giggled.
“No,” König let out a long sigh, “thank God for that. My ass still hurts thinking about it.”
You laughed and hugged him close, getting in all the love you could before he left.
“Will you be leaving soon?” you whispered into the dark cotton sleeve.
“Soon,” König admitted, “I’ll be leaving soon. Most likely in a month.”
“Promise me you’ll be okay.”
“I’m always okay,” König laughed.
“Please,” you insisted.
“Then I promise, little Maus,” König kissed you gently, “I will be okay.”
You held him close a little longer, not wanting to let the moment go. König let you, knowing full well it was all you had to hold onto until he came back home. He hated leaving. He hated it every time. But if it was to keep you safe, to keep a roof over your head and food on the table, he’d do it a thousand times. You were worth every scar upon his body just to see you sleeping safe in bed when he’d come back home.

Me, opening up a packet of the stuff the vet gave me: “I hope this probiotic powder doesn’t put my cat off his food. Can’t really help with his digestion issues if he doesn’t eat it”
I spill some because my hands can have problems with stability
My cat: *licks the stuff up like a kid who just discovered what powdered sugar was*
Me: “is this flavored?”
My cat: begs me for more powder and momentarily forgets his food
Me: “this has to be flavored”
#emma posts#sometimes him getting excited about new flavors for kitties is good#but other times his love of flavor exploration will lead him to eating a food he’s allergic to#and I can’t figure out what he’s reacting to right away because he just keeps eating the thing that makes his tummy hurt#at least I stop using things I realize cause allergic reactions#you’d think a little guy who doesn’t even know what allergies are would be even more off put by them#he’s so finicky about so many random things! but he loves new foods. especially more expensive ones. and that food was more expensive#this time he is getting a food for upset hairball tummies and has been enjoying it more than his old stuff too#I just hope that him traveling back and forth between his old food at my parents house and new food here causes problems#his old man tummy is getting more sensitive than it used to be and he’s getting a different food now… hopefully. and vitamins while he gets#these probiotics to hopefully make the change easier. I don’t want to jinx it but so far it seems to be really helpful#he hasn’t even gotten one hairball since starting the hairball food! and he loves his new vitamin treats#hopefully he’ll keep doing well with the old kitty vitamin treats#I want him to get his old man vitamins#even if he’s super healthy for his age. it’s good not to get worse!#i would know. as someone who dealt with not eating enough from medication side effects#I’m better now though! I switched meds and take more vitamins just in case#anyway. eating food is important for humans and kitties if you can get it it’s important!#and if your cat doesn’t get or absorb enough food they could get permanent damage to their bodies. never let your cat go more than three#days without food! try to make sure that they eat at least every 12 hours#they might not need as much food as you. but they can get a lot sicker a lot faster than humans usually do#I can ramble on and on about cat health though 😅 I just love my little guy so much#combo of better food formulated for hairballs and not giving him an allergic reaction with the probiotics too seems to be helping a lot#i knew cheap food wasn’t usually quite as good as the slightly more expensive stuff but holy shit. since moving out and now switching food#it’s been going so well for him! maybe I should ask my family to change the other cats food. I just hope that an extra 9$ a bag isn’t#off putting for them. i feel like fewer hairballs should be a great selling point

bit by the worldbuilding bug . was trying to think of a name for the pkmn fanregion ive been cooking off and on for a couple years &realized i never even considered the geography of the place
#i figure i wasn't going to make too too many fakemon for it on account of the fact tht making a whole custom dex#is not only something i dont think i could ever crack down and finish . but also i just do not want to do it#plus vega's partner pkmn is a shiny eevee so seeing that amid a bunch of random new guys would be jarring#so im thinking it should be somewhere sandwiched between a few canon regions. ill look at one of the fanmade maps of the pkmn world later#to get an idea of what im goin for#i think after i get the geography down it'll hopefully fall more into place#&im not making a new post or editing the body to add this but i do want to say it's gonna be a visual novel or a point and click or sth#i am not fucking with making a pokemon style fangame . &besides point & click would work better with the protag's personality#she is not a battle adventure mc she walks around and touches things and says shit outloud to herself#i also don't um . have a design for them. #shut up danni's talking#in other news aloneintherain posted a welcome to demon school iruma-kun fanfic while i was sleeping#woke up the notification and thought huh well i don't wanna get up now so lemme boot up crunchyroll#i am now on season 2 ep 1#so that's fun!#and i would die for iruma - him and azz are deffo gay#my angel clara is either lesbian or she's aro lesbian and i can't decide which i like better so shrug#but that girl eiko is ABSOLUTELY bi honestly she's like my fave side character#uh big buff and dumb blonde is also a favourite of mine#he's so passionate abt the demon king and stuff and i cackled when he found out the demon king club was full of nerds#and yet he IMMEDIATELY without a single second of hesitation joined and like MAD respect i adore him#ameri is also cool but she is absolutely demiromantic with a romantic soul and i ship her w eiko#but man the relationship between iruma and his grandpa is so sweet???;;#i wanted to melt at the festival and the other classmates were like oh man bet you're the pride of your family iruma and he was like#YEAH I LOVE GRANDPA AND OPERA#i wanted to cry#also the fact that iruma puts his hair up in a ponytail when exercising is my absolute favourite thing#and is definitely a key reason why i think he's one of my faves i'm always weak when a character can have a small ponytail#anyways just letting y'all know and when i finish watching the anime fingers crossed my dumbass brain will let me comprehend the manga#idk HOW i managed to comprehend the mha manga way back when but hopefully it'll work this time too#i have a feeling that a lot of the fandom is weighted towards the manga spoilers rather than the anime which is fair#also i THOUGHT crunchyroll had messed up bc i was sure i had three more episodes left of season one and i did#when i finished s2 ep1 it tried to make me watch s3 ep1 which like no thank you#so now im gonna have to go back and be confused rip

#i'm hoping since my job will be making me part time again soon-ish that i'll be a lil more at ease#tho i can't say i was 100% on board with that decision when i really didn't have a say in the matter :// but that's a rant for another time#the point is that hopefully i can manage my time and feelings better soon bc i'm just! not doing too well at that lately#and it makes this hobby that i love to pieces very hard for me bc all the energy i'd use on creative writing and plotting#gets used up on stressing and whatnot#and when i say thanks for being patient i really mean it from the bottom of my heart bc i really am taking forever to get it together#anyway! i'm just taking a lil break from my korean hw so i might work on my new blog? maybe?? we'll see#maybe i'll mess around and post some silly one-liners too or some character creators#i don't know if i really wanna try to write but maybe it won't hurt just to dip my toe in uvu#get ready to ramble | ooc
