This would defeat the whole purpose of Ekko’s character arc. Ekko’s character was against oppression, but he prioritized the safety of his people and those he loved over fighting against it. That's why his main focus was the firelight tree instead of fighting Caitlyn. The only time we see him fighting is at the end war, and this was also to protect someone he loved (Jinx/Powder) He wanted to protect the safety he created. Making him into an oppression fighter as a central plot point would defeat this.

In a better world, we got a multi season Arcane with a proper Timebomb childhood friends to enemies to reluctant partners to friends to lovers arc as they stand against Cait's dictatorship.

It says in her Star Guardian bio that Jinx has a “burning need to keep those she holds dear out of harm’s way, at any cost.” I imagine her becoming corrupted after a battle where she fails to uphold this, with Ekko attempting to reach her—only to fall short and Ekko loses her for the second time 💔
