Heart of Stone chapter 24
Omg it's been MONTHS since I've updated. 😭 And every time I'm closer to the end... I have so much fun with these chapters, so 8 don't know why it keeps getting forgotten.
Anyway.
Chapter summary: (Strickler POV) With Jim, Claire and Douxie sucked into Stricklander’s uncontrolled portal and Merlin (unsurprisingly) still to blame, Barbara proceeds to chew the wizard out.
With Jim missing, Stricklander takes it upon himself to keep a closer eye on Gunmar and Angor Rot, as a spy.
Only question is: how long can he pretend to be his old self for until he's found out?
#trollhunters#tales of arcadia#Heart of Stone#Walter Strickler#Bular#Barbara Lake#Merlin TOA#Gunmar the black#Dictatious#Minor character death#Angor Rot#tobias domzalski#Archie TOA#Um some more characters mentioned or briefly 'on screen' plus my own OC's#Sorry you don't get to find out what Jim is up to yet#The time travel arc is pretty short too

If I got a nickel every time a cartoon I love
based on a book
based on mythology
about a teenage boy
who stumbles upon an ancient artifact that gives him powers
that's being sought by this cocky guy with daddy issues
who's right arm is mechanical some of the time
and his Dad is this massive guy with big horns (and sometimes glowy blue eye(s))
who's being manipulated by a powerful woman
that he freed from her centuries old prison
who may have had noble ambitions in the past, but now has been consumed by power
and the woman possesses a young girl in order to get what she wants
and sacrifices the lives of her minions in order to unleash her ultimate weapon ->
(Dozens of Gum Gums) (Spider Queen, Huntsman, Syntax, Goliath, Not- Mayor) You know what I'm talking about :(
and she's got this indentured servant *cough Slave cough* (with pretty gold eyes 😘)
who she refers to as "Her Champion"
who travels using shadows (I could not find a single picture of Angor Rot using his shadow staff)
who was really sweet and kind in his past but then... well... stuff happened
and has lost his right eye
and he's been killed before
but the big bad restores him back to life so she can use him
and he gets a redemption arc at the end of season three
and the main character doesn't have a bio Dad, but he attracts plenty of father figures throughout the course of the show
and he gains a non-human form that makes him even more powerful
and him and the others gain an armor upgrade at the same time
and the girl of the team has short black hair with dyed stripes
and you know the guy with daddy issues who wanted to steal his artifact in the beginning? He becomes one of the protagonist's closest friends
and there's this gentle giant character
who becomes one of my most beloved characters of all time 💕💕💕
and he has a history of violence and trauma
and has now vowed to be a devote pacifist
but breaks his vow in order to protect the people he loves (with angry glowy eyes to boot)
and has a deep love for cats (yes, I did just do that)
...then I would have two nickels.
Which isn't very much, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
(That last drawing was made by @jezfez81. Thank you for letting me use it!)
What the heck happened?!?! This was just supposed to be a comparison between Sandy and AAARRRGGHH!!! Where did all these comparisons come from?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?!?
(this took way too long to make, please give it some love :3 )

Polygun but it’s how they all see each other
i always really like in books with different narrators when how a character looks itself is unreliable narration bc they describe themself differently compared to how the other pov characters see them, and the dungeon meshi shapeshifter chart scratched that itch for me art wise and I got inspired ✨
To be more specific this is what they each picture when they think of each person 👉👈
Details under cut!!
Meryl clothing details aside because I think she’s just short and the boys aren’t looking at her traveling clothes too hard (and vash clearly likes making his own clothes with how much his overly intricate jacket design changes so ofc his version of her outfit just looks like another one of his designs 🙄) all of the clothes are based on specific parts of the manga!
A big thing with these designs was taking moments that were important regarding each characters relationship with the pov character and adding in visual nods to that to show what memories stuck with them to shape their image of that person.
The clearest example of this is everyone thinking of a different Vash coat, for Wolfwood it’s what he was wearing when he turned him over to Knives, to Meryl it’s his final fight coat, and for Milly it’s when she met him.
It may be Trimax but I will always have a soft spot for 98 millywood so those two’s impression of each other has been influenced by that, but more specifically just the idea of them both alone together, layers and walls down, hair messy from sleep. Their relationship is one I just see very clearly developing over a lot of late nights at inns and bars during traveling!
Vash is the trademarked inventor of Savior Martyr Victim complex supreme and when he thinks of everyone he sees times they’ve been let down by him. To me he’s the biggest broken gear in their dynamic because of the way he holds himself back and isolates, the ship really works in spite of him most of the time. But he also sees traces of times his desire to be by their side was cemented. His Meryl is heavily based on after she was kidnapped by the GHGs and he lost control in front of her, but her hair is longer + earrings are gone like when they saw each other again after Knives released the ark, and she has a black turtleneck peaking out from under her traveling clothes the way it did under her space suit during the final battle. His Milly has the hair and undershirt of the final battle but her outer clothes are from when they traveled together for the majority of Trimax. His wolfwood isn’t doing too well.
Meryl’s versions of Milly and Wolfwood are both pretty similar to how they looked when she first met them, wolfwoods hair is just a little longer like I imagine it being towards the end of Trimax and is very windswept, from their short first meeting in the original Trigun manga run I always got the impression she thought he looked very cool lol, she was staring up at him like ://0 the whole chapter.
I mentioned it before but honestly most of Wolfwood’s Vash is based on how he looked when he turned him over to Knives, not only do I think that moment stuck with him but I feel like it’s a good visual summary of all the mixed feelings he has towards Vash. He’s drawn to him and sees how sad he his but he also sees how inhuman he is and the threat he and knives pose for the people he cares about and prioritizes. At the end of the day Wolfwood chose the orphans over Vash twice and never went back on that, and a big part of why he broke Vash our of Knives prison was just so he could go fight Knives to the death for humanity’s sake, and I think that’s important to his character and their relationship.
Similarly, Meryl’s Vash is really just final arc Vash. She’d already developed a very strong impression of him before then but they would go weeks to even years without seeing each other and each time the way he looked and the way she felt about him would change drastically, it seemed to me like it wasn’t till she was on the ship advocating for him and the people living on gunsmoke that she knew how she felt about him and what kind of person she saw him to be. It was also a huge moment for her character wise with the way she faced her fears in the name of human connection and made the active choice to not be as apathetic and closed off as she realized she had been in the early manga.
I think Milly’s first impression of Vash was strong and accurate enough to not change much, this nice guy is Vash the Stampede and there is definitely something weird about him.
I don’t know why Wolfwood doesn’t know what Meryl’s hair looks like, what’s wrong with that guy? In general his version of Meryl is very inaccurate now that I’m looking at it, I promise he likes her
+small details that are my personal headcanon and not the characters interpretations are Meryl and Wolfwoods hair being a bit more curly/textured than canon, Milly’s eyes being green, and Meryl’s earrings being silver (gold earrings with a white black and blue outfit and silver guns?? C’mon girl accessorize properly)
#this is Trimax specific#end of Trimax ig but I haven’t actually thought out how I’d draw them all post Trimax#so the references in the corner are just generic#also wolfwood survived ig#Meryl is so short and I don’t think the boys are looking too hard at what she’s wearing#so her clothes are just Made up#but everyone else’s are specific to canon details I added#also my prev acknowledged headcanon that milly is growing out a blonde phase is evident here#rill'sart#rill’sart#trigun#meryl stryfe#milly thompson#trigun maximum#vash the stampede#nicholas d. wolfwood#polygun#vashwood#millymeryl#stryfewood#Merylwood#milly vash#Vashmilly#mashwood#trimax

It’s been 6 weeks since Joel’s started training you to go without holding back, no matter the circumstances. You’ve started getting used to it. That freeing feeling of warmth filling your senses, making your mind go from anxious to relaxed just by releasing.
Today, he has you in a beautiful sun dress, no panties. You’re spread out on top of him with your back against his chest. The two of you slouched on a patio chair as he rubs lazy circles on your clit. The breeze feels amazing, ruffling your dress and blowing cool air on your heat. You’re leaned against him with your head turned towards his. Joel’s strong arm wrapped around your middle to keep you close. He kisses you slowly, sensually, swallowing your little whimpers. All the while brushing his thumb over your pelvis.
“It’s time,” he whispers against your ear.
You nod, feeling shivers traveling over your body. You’d be holding it as he teased you, but now the tremors feel more violent.
“You gonna let go f’me? Paint me a pretty picture.” He gestures to the stone pavement below you. Despite being outside, the beautiful garden surrounding you adds some semblance of privacy. Its colorful array mixed with the outdoor atmosphere makes for the perfect lazy Saturday afternoon piss outside.
“S’okay, I got ya.” He pushes his thumb a little harder on your bladder while his middle and ring finger draw tight circles along your folds. You nod, biting your lips and forcing a steady breath out. It’s the hardest part for sure. It builds and builds and builds inside you. The pressure forcing your hips off of his every so often as you try to hold it in.
No, he told you to relax. Stop flexing your walls to try to starve it off. You close your eyes, unwinding mentally and physically.
And it starts to happen.
A short, practice burst of urine shoots from your slit before trickling out again, slowly building up to a steady stream.
“Oooohhhhhhh. There she is, that’s my good girl. My beautiful girl,” he hums with a grin. His presses his lips to yours. Joel’s hand kneads your pussy over your stream, rubbing your clit messily. Warm piss spills down his wrist and your ass, onto his jeans but he doesn’t care. He loves the sound of your interrupted hissing due to his movements. The pavement crackles as it splatters consistently like a pretty fountain waterfall.
You sigh contently. It’s the best part, by far. You crack as smile and close your eyes again.
He laughs softly. “Ahhh that’s it, so good isn’t it? Making such a pretty mess, baby girl. You like peeing all over yourself n’ Daddy, I can tell. GO on, piss some more.”
You both watch from between your legs as you shoot a particularly strong jet, watching it arc over a sizable distance and landing on a dry part of the stones.
“Wow! Look at that, gettin so strong!” He rubs his palm over you quicker, the stream becoming splotched all over your dress and stomach. You both giggle and kiss once again. He drink your sexy noises as the two of you soak yourselves in hot liquid.
“Ahhhh, baby, your squirtin’ pussy gets me so hard.” He grinds your ass along his harden length trapped underneath his jeans.
It doesn’t take much to read Joel Millers mind. All you’ve left are little trickles here and there of your piss. So you reach between your legs and pull his poor cock out.
“Mmmmm that’s better. Feeling’ that breeze on your pussy feels good on my dick too.” He lazily smirks as you start to fist him.
“Can I put it inside?” You ask.
“Got a better idea.” He grips his cock and sits the two of you back a little more, now your heads propped up against the low back rest. He jerks himself a little, slapping your clit.
You jolt each time his tip smacks your clit. He kisses you between breaths, a game of cat and mouse as he chases your tongue.
“Pull those tits out,” he grunts.
You pull the neckline of your stretchy dress below your breasts just as Joel comes up to cup one.
“M’gonna paint a pretty picture too. Ya ready f’me?”
You nod excitedly and spread your legs even wider for him.
Joel grits his teeth, fisting himself a little before letting out a pained groan. His tip explodes in a fat stream of piss upwards, first hitting your clit then increasing up along your naval and to your breasts.
You giggle and squirm. The warm liquid feels amazing on your cool tits. It smacks your chest then trickles all down your front, soaking your dress and you in the process.
His tongue is caught between his teeth as he moans drunkenly, watching you present yourself fuller for him to ruin with piss.
“Feel that, baby? Daddy loves pissin’ on ya, such a beautiful thing f’me to paint.” “Thank you Daddy! Love your hot piss blanketing me.”
You cup your breasts and glide this tip to slot between your messy folds. His hot, strong stream of pee overwhelms you quickly, spreading down below you and starting to coat his sides and thighs. It’s so much. Way stronger, way more copious than yours was. The chair leaks so much urine, a puddle quickly forming below the two of you.
He starts to just hit your clit. The warm sensation, coupled with its pounding nature quickly sends you in a frenzy of quivers. He snatches your lips just as you begin to cum on his piss. You’re loud now too, forgoing the fact that your backyard can still be overheard by neighbors. Its beautiful. He wants to hoard all your sounds to himself. in time, you’ll be ready to piss yourself around others.
He’s just content covering you in his fluids for his eyes only for now.
When you finish, you pant heavily. He pecks your lips, refusing to let you part from his too much. The two of you are absolutely drenched, But you especially. Your pretty little sun dress now sticks awkwardly to your body, the neckline stretched below your wet tits.
“My beautiful girl,” he hums again into your lips.
His thick fingers begin to stroke between your petals once more.
“Shall we try for round two?”

And now we have to deal with this motherfucker.
It’s probable that Scratch knew things would play out like this, which means this message was always intended for Karkat.
...it's probable that that's the case, but there's always a slight possibility that we're in one of his dark pockets. If so, then Karkat wasn't supposed to see this message, and might be about to learn something Scratch doesn't want him to know.
Mr. Vantas.
Dang it.
I'm delivering this message through the console of one of my numerous unwitting proteges to give you a word of advice, and then you will not hear from me again.
Characteristically unhelpful - and in fact, it might not refer to either of Eridan's victims. We still have Tavros's corpse to deal with, and I'm sure there'll be more bodies hitting the floor before the day is out.
All of the bodies in the room remain as they were. There is clearly nothing to be concerned about whatsoever.
Feferi has an eldritch connection through the Horrorterrrors, and they could probably pull some dark magical shenanigans to get her body moving again. I think that's unlikely, though, since Feferi's ghost is active in the Dream Bubbles, and I don't think she'd actually want to be revived. After all, she's go a job to do.
I'm still convinced that Kanaya's coming back, but it's hardly going to happen while our back is turned. We're out of Kernelsprites, so she can't be prototyped - and we can't use her Dream Moon Slab, if it even exists, because Prospit's been destroyed by Jack.
Frankly, I can't think of a single realistic way to revive her short of time travel, and that's not a road we want to go down. I'm really trying not to think about what that might mean.
I guess that leaves Tavros.
There's definitely something going on with him that we don't understand. He was about to smooch Vriska before she stopped him, and the Breath symbolism surrounding the act makes me think it was more than just a typical Dream Self revival kiss. He has a hidden power, and that power seems to kick in when someone's dying.
Could Tavros be a little less dead than we've been led to believe? It's possible - his arc doesn't scan as complete to me. He'd only obtained the merest shred of confidence before Vriska brought him fatally down to earth, and I think there are still many interesting places you could take his character.
CG: THERE YOU ARE, YOU HAD ME WORRIED DUDE […] CG: QUIT THE BULLSHIT PARTYCLOWN ANTICS AND GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE. […] TC: shut up. CG: WHAT… TC: I SAID SHUT THE MOTHERFUCK UP, MOTHERFUCKER. TC: honk honk honk :o)
Gamzee’s rocking a new quirk. He’s still swapping cases, but they’re alternating every message rather than every character, as though his mind is less scrambled than it used to be.
Could this be how he talks when he's off the slime? He already seems more aware than before, and his grumpiness evokes a hangover - but he's honking more than he used to, which is the opposite of what I'd expect if he was sober.
CG: SERIOUSLY, GET BACK HERE NOW, AND HAVE A SLIME PIE TO RELAX OR SOMETHING. TC: SLIME? TC: there is no more slime, brother. TC: AND ANYWAY. TC: shit was motherfuckin poison, didn't you know?
Yup. It looks like Gamzee’s gone cold featherbeast.
It's not a great time for this to happen, but it's not like we can stop it now. I highly doubt Gamzee was forward-thinking enough to reproduce his pies through alchemy, and things are a little too tense right now to try getting clever with an Appearifier. For better or worse, his supply has dried up for the foreseeable future.
So now, for the first time, we're interacting with a Gamzee who isn't out of his mind on soporifics. His shift in personality is already pretty drastic, and I'm interested in seeing what the real Gamzee is like.

ok, so I think this is the first time I've posted a question as such and it's not just a comment but I'll try to be brief. I have to say that I loved the scenario in which they go to the world of Reader, it's very good and honestly I laughed a lot, but now changing the subject, considering that this is a ShadowPeach x reader universe, before the monkeys became warlords and met Reader, who was the one who became yandere first, Wukong or Macaque, because it would be interesting to have a little background on that. Another question is, if Reader can use her magic through artifacts, and suppose they change with her emotions, what if when she discovers that they are actually Wukong and Macaque, her desperation drags her to another world by accident (Perhaps as a method of survival for the adrenaline of the moment) and take him to another world with another Wukong, perhaps the canonical world of LMK, perhaps that of Black Myth Wukong, perhaps that of Monkey King Reborn, and Reader meets another version of Wukong or Macaque and genuinely becomes friends/falls in love with them and they are not Yandere, how do you think things would happen when the monkeys (inevitably) envelop Reader?
Anyway thats all i Have for Now, your ideas really change The chemistry un my brain, Hope you have a nice day
For Reader's ability. That is a really cool idea! A pure survival instinct truly. Now I don't think that she'll be meeting any other Wukong or Macaque in this au. (Maybe if I make another au and a crossover? But not in my main Cursed Warlords AU)
My reasoning is quite simple. Too much drama, okay thats kinda hypocritical I guess since there's probably gonna be quite a bit of drama.
Anyways, the pure survival instinct to get her out of the situation is really cool. In my mind, her dimensional travel ability stems from more of a teleportation type.
Because of this, I believe she would either teleport back to her own dimension or she might just teleport far away from them. Even if far away happens to be on Flower Fruit Mountain while they are away. Maybe haven't decided yet.
Anyways love that idea. Will probably use it at some point for the Reader (gonna make it happen at the worst possible moment too, probably. Hehe~)
>>><<<
Spoilers for unwritten Arc below. I will be writing the actual scenes for this later but since I don't have the time write at this moment a few short points from it will suffice.
Read at your own spoiler risk. This is basically an outline for the Arc. Which is the reason I took so long with this ask, Sorry about that, @bluewillbon! Loved writing this though ❤️
Ding... Ding... Ding...
Shadowpeach Arc Unlocked!!
Hehe~ I have a few ideas for this.
Surprisingly, I actually have Macaque go yandere for his husband before Wukong did.
Wukong is pretty oblivious to romantic emotions originally. He just knows he wants something so he takes it.
Basically a short Summery would be Macaque comes to Floqer Fruit Mountain as a traveler and meets Sun Wukong. The two fight each other because Macaque is an 'intruder'.
However, Wukong isn't going all out at, nor is Macaque. Wukong finds that he likes this new monkey demon, and eventually offers him a place in his troop.
Macaque decides to agree, at first to find out more about this other monkey. He doesn't know how he feels at first and is debating what exactly he wants to do.
As they get to know each other and begin to fall in love, but only Macaque seems to realize. Wukong is as dense as a rock (pun intended)
Macaque is already close with Wukong as his right hand man, he doesn't share his feelings. He can be rather shy at times, and believes that he'll have to fight Wukong to the death or unconsciousness like all of his other suitors.
But even though he believes that Wukong won't accept him, he won't let anyone else have him. If he can't have him, no one can. Will he harm his love? No, he'll just kill anyone who shows romantic interest in him.
Of course, he won't tell him, and the person will simply go missing without another word. Macaque is a great actor and no one will suspect him for a while... until...
Everything comes to a head when someone decides to challenge Wukong to a courting dual in public. Obviously, Wukong would have beaten her easily however Macaque who had finally decided to offer his love and picked out the courting gifts and had everything ready, would not have it.
Not only did he have everything ready, but the girl decided to challenge Wukong when Macaque had planned to. So~ yeah, the girl died... at Macaque's hands.
That is how the two got together, by Macaque slaying one of Wukong's suitors (he had quite a few before he became a warlord) and bending the knee to ask for his hand.
It is only then that Wukong actually thinks of his feelings for Macaque as love. Admitting it to himself as Macaque bends on his knee and promises to stay by his side for eternity.
At first Wukong is furious, his right hand doesn't think he can fight for himself- oh. Oh that's why he did it. This Boi was a blushing mess, because it's at this point that his own feelings hit him in the gut (or rather the point where he actually recognizes his own feelings.)
They soon become completely inseparable, more so than they already have been.
So even though Macaque is the first to go yandere, Wukong is NOT far behind him. Of course, there are some stupid enough to try and woo Macaque as well, only to be slain by Wukong's staff.
The suitors only diminish as Wukong and Macaque become Warlords. It becomes widely known who they are and who they are with. Even if some (very few) are stupid enough to try to get between them, they are quickly ended.
No one will come between them, and neither of them are interested in polygamy... at least not until... you.

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!
I am not in the mood to study so yeah (Part 3):
The senate (which are just these 3 floaty thingies) start to blame him for Meleanor's death and they punish him by banning him from the capital (which makes Silver and Sebek realize why Lilia can't do certain things). BUT BAD NEWS GUYS THE BLOT IS BACK and it's forming around Lilia with him muttering that he'll join them (Meleanor and Leverne) soon...
All of a sudden the ring (yknow the one Silver has) teleports them to another old memory, taking place 10 years after the war where Lilia was secretly called by Maleficia. Apparently Malleus eggo stopped accepting her magic and that direct touch and love would be more efficient
Baul wants Lilia to travel to various to find ways to hatch Malleus eggo and also reminds Lilia of Meleanor's last words where if she's gone, Lilia will be the one in charge of hatching him (as well as acting like a married couple with Leverne OKAYYYYYY)
Lilia tells the eggo that if he ends up in the stars before Lilia returns, eggo's parents are going to scold him so he asks Malleus to hold on AND MOTHERFUCKER
Lilia travels around the world, but everytime he brings up the egg people immediately shum him out, saying that dragons only exist in fairy tales. But every time Lilia comes back to Malleus eggo, Baul notices that the magic increases. Then Lilia suddenly brings up that Meleanor was a picky eater while Leverne was a honor student but in reality the dude hid his veggies under the table 😭😭😭
A rumor goes around that there was a castle holding dragons so Lilia goes to check it out, but he was too late. He then breaks down asking if anyone knew how to hatch the egg until magic suddenly overflows and boom we got the origin story of Lilia's UM. He uses this to his advantage to find more research to hatch Malleus
200 years has passed and Lilia was succesful
MALLEUS COMES TO LIFE LET'S GOOOOO (AND LEONA WAS RIGHT HE DOES LOOK LIKE A LIZARD (AFFECTIONATE))
Lilia breaks down cuz after 200 YEARS MAN HE FINALLY DID IT , MALLEUS GAVE HIM HOPE 🥹
Silver finally understands why the dream turned out like this, Lilia lost everyone but his happiest moment was bringing Malleus to life. The senate praise Lilia for being a hero but something happens
OVERBLOT MALLEUS IS BACK AYEEEEEEEEEEEE I MISS YOU BOO
LILIA LOOKS AT OB MALLEUS AND THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE LEVERNE BUT MALLEUS LOOKS LIKE MELEANOR
Malleus pretty much goes nuts here because the senate and Maleficia were lying to him. He then asks Lilia what dream does he want: One where Meleanor and Leverne lived or something else that makes him happy BUT SILVER AND SEBEK MANAGE TO INTERVENE AND SNAP LILIA BACK TO REALITY YEYYYYYY
With Lilia now back to us, the group proceeds to run away but while that was happening Lilia mentioned this
Then Silver promises Lilia that they will meet again and activates his UM BUT THEN A HOLGRAM OF ORTHO APPEARS TO THEM
THEY'RE ALL BACK AND IGNIHYDE WITH IDIA SAYING "time for the main event~~~~" LET'S GOOO THE SHROUD BROS ARE BACK BABY
Manifesting real hard for the next update being the Shroud bros segment cuz if you think about it Idia didn't need any assistance to escape the dream LIKE BRO ACCEPTED THE FACT HIS BROTHER IS DEAD AND THAT'S HARD
This was surprisingly short (or maybe I was rushing) with only 3 parts but hope you guys enjoyed it!!

Okay so a convo made me remember that Icecloud and Foxleap become apprentices 4-5 moons after the three, which means Ferncloud either had four litters so the three could nurse while also having kits so much younger than them, or she just so happens to have milk despite not having kits OR her last litter was really held back. Mostly bringing this up because obviously Squilf and Leaf still can't nurse the three in BB and I was curious if Ferc was still going to nurse them since I know you gave away her last litter or if someone else will do that or if there's a definite answer for this detail yet.
Daisy did it! Her kits were recently weaned, but Sorreltail at the time was nursing FOUR kittens. That's a lot for one suckler to handle, so Daisy would help out which kept her milk coming.
So Daisy has it handled. Ferncloud is still reeling from horrifically losing THREE children in a short period of time. At this moment in time, she didn't feel ready for more.
But, anyway! Foxleap and Icecloud are NOT DustFern kittens in BB. They were shuffled. This is because Ferncloud has waaaay too few surviving kittens while Brightheart and Sorreltail exploded the gene pool. Their kits in BB are;
Dustpelt x Ferncloud:
Spiderleg (ALIVE)
Shrewpaw (Car accident while chasing a pheasant; Squilf's guardian angel)
Lurchkit (Destruction of the White Hart)
Hollykit (Ditto)
Birchfall (ALIVE)
Seedpaw (Drowned)
Lilyheart (ALIVE)
Ferncloud is the Educator of ThunderClan until her death in TBC. She lives long enough to confront her little brother, Ashfur, who is now from a younger litter. Dustpelt died in the Battle of the True Eclipse, while defending his last litter from Dark Forest warriors.
Additionally, Spotfur and Duststripe (prev. Sorrelstripe) are now Birchfall's kittens, in trade for Dovewing and Ivypool to go into the Firekin family. Toadstep is also still alive; the husband of Lionblaze.
Lilyheart hasn't had any kittens yet, though. I'm still holding on to Leafshade and Honey...something i forgot her name. ThunderClan is already pretty full of cats and she really didn't need to have them so young. Plus, she got seriously traumatized from how Seedpaw died, and she's the sort of mature person to realize she doesn't want to be responsible for young lives when that's still affecting her.
Brightheart x Cloudtail
Whitewing (alive)
Foxleap (Battle of the True Eclipse)
Icecloud (Born after the BOTTE, named after Iceheart, alive)
Snowbush, Ambermoon, and Dewnose all still exist, but were adopted to other couples! They're going to show up in other Clans. Cloud and Bright kept a single kitten from each litter.
Foxleap is probably going to be younger than he is in-canon, because I feel like he often gets lost in the massive Po3 Apprentice Generation. So, he'll be somewhere between Po3 and OotS, interacting with Dovewing and Ivypool as they grow up.
Icecloud, also shuffled in age, is also going to end up with a bigger role in AVOS-era stuff, he's transmasc and a fast friend of Alderheart when he joins ThunderClan after being raised by his mother Jessy as a kittypet. Him and Lilyheart make up Alderheart's misfit friend group.
(In general I think ThunderClan feels less bloated if the births are spaced out better.)
Sorreltail x Brackenfur
Cinderheart (Alive; travelling with Fallenleaf)
Honeysnake (survived the adder; killed in the BOTTE)
Poppyfrost (Alive; inventor of gardening)
Molepaw (Greencough... angel name is Moleflight and he is constantly fighting Jayfeather)
JUST having the infamous Brackenfour. No more; BB!Brackenfur was killed in the Battle of the FALSE Eclipse at the end of Po3. Sorreltail is living for a MUCH longer time; she's still around in the current arc, preparing to retire as Head of Kitchen Patrol.
#better bones au#I feel like Icecloud is an oversized hoodie kind of transmasc#(Shooting homesign pawspeak) YO MISTA WHITE...wing#White signs back 'we need to cook.' Scene comically cuts to them doing bbq

No one else wondering about that sword and shield prophecy rn? Just me???
Hak is the shield, Soo-Won the sword and Yona is the king? Or maybe Soo-Won and Yona are interchangeable. Maybe we should question the foundation of the prophecy itself. No one? Like, at all???
Okay :]
That being said, personally, I think too many people are being weird about this chapter. While I have my reservations about it, there's symbolism and growth highlighted in it that's actually pretty interesting. Analyzing a series is fun and great and all but guys. It's just a series, it's not that deep. You have to know that I thoroughly understand the investment one gets in these series, but just because you dont agree with the writing doesnt meant that it's bad writing, even if the ending or even the next chapter isnt what we're expecting. And even if it is bad writing, again!! Its not that deep, and its out of our control. Its a hard pill to swallow, but one I have to force myself to take. Why? Because if I remain overly critical, I will lose the enjoyment I get from reading this manga.
Not to say I'm against criticism either, I just think one needs to find a steady balance.
Anyways, as a MASSIVE akayona fan myself, yeah. I wish things were going in a different direction. I wish some (a lot of) things in this chapter and arc were different. (Time travel, characters, plotholes and such.) But I trust Kusanagi's incredible writing skills and have no doubt something great is about to happen, and if it doesn't, well, I'm incredibly grateful to have been along for the ride. Besides, there's infinite possibilities when you have hundreds of people out here willing to create their own versions of the story. Its simple. If you end up being that upset with the finale, remold canon and write a fic! Make fanart! Create scenarios in your head! Your imagination is your greatest tool, so don't be afraid to use it!
My point being, give Kusanagi a chance. As an author she's nothing short of a genius and a talented storyteller, so I wouldn't doubt that she's got a few more cards up her sleeve. The series isn't over just yet!

Breaking Down the I Feel You Linger in the Air Finale
Okay pals, I got some sleep and I'm ready to dig into this finale and all its beautiful messiness. I love this show and I'm frankly a little frustrated that we got such an incomplete resolution to the (hopefully) first season when there was ample time to do it right. As ever, pacing and time and information management continue to be major weaknesses for Tee Bundit. As I said last week, the writing for this show has been undeniably messy but it's still holding together on the strength of the production and the performances and the success of some of its big themes and character arcs; that take held firm through the finale and some of the baffling choices made about where to spend our time in this final installment. So, let's dig into it!
The Long Goodbye
I'll say upfront that this is my biggest beef with the pacing of the finale. We spent all of last week on a long and painful goodbye for Yai and Jom, perfectly executed, but for some reason we did another 45 minutes of it this week, not so perfectly executed. While I loved the covering of the mirrors, the saddest sex scene ever (complete with sex moans running as the audio over a memory montage how dare you show!), and the pain of Yai realizing he drew the final picture and watching Jom disappear, we didn't need to retread them saying goodbye to each other over and over again for two entire hours of story time, and we didn't need a long, sappy, on the nose speech from Jom saying things we already knew. As I told @neuroticbookworm, this might be my aro showing but I found the series of repetitive emotional goodbye conversations and memory montages exhausting and not in a good way. If I were the script doctor, I would have kept the mirrors, sad sex, and Yai drawing as the start of the episode and cut the rest, moving much more quickly into the next phase of the story.
Back to the Future
Jom returning to his present day life, trying to cope with his anguish and loneliness and adjust back into things, and further investigating the time travel mystery to figure out a way to reconnect with Yai should have been the main narrative of this episode. Instead, we got a truncated version of it that didn't have time to breath because we'd used up so much time on the above mentioned retread. For my money, Jom's devastation upon finding Yai's letter to him was the most emotionally resonant moment of the finale and the first part of the episode where I almost cried. But we had barely sunk into that feeling before it was abruptly cut short because we were out of time and Tee needed to wrap this baby up.
Eyebrow Scar Yai
Here’s where I get actually kind of peeved, because this final (pre-credits) scene was so poorly set up and executed that to even call it a resolution is a stretch. A modern version of Yai walks into the room, asks Jom why he's crying, tells him he's been waiting for him, kisses him, and then the credits roll!
Now I've been in the tags so I know this caused confusion for anyone who has not read the novel (me too, fam!). And that's because the show had not bothered to establish:
That Yai does in fact have a modern doppelgänger
Who the heck that doppelgänger is and how he’s connected to 1928 Yai
How that doppelgänger would be able to remember Jom when no other doppelgängers in the story can remember their past lives
Based on what we know, could we piece together a reasonable theory about who this man is, how he got there, and the final pieces of the mythology that make sense of it? Sure. In fact, bookworm and I pretty much guessed exactly what the explanation for this was after watching the show, and many of the elements at play here were theorized in conversations we had last week. Book readers like @tipsyjaehyun have now confirmed the full explanation for anyone who cares to go read it.
But the show did not tell us any of this information. If you have to read the novel or have novel readers spoil you on aspects of the story that the show didn't bother to cover in order to understand the ending of the story, the execution has failed. And given the pacing notes above, there is really no reason we couldn't have gotten a better set up for this ending with Eyebrow Scar Yai (yes I know his name but no I'm not using it because the show didn't bother telling me; I am petty like that). Jom could have found this descendant during his time of processing and the ending could have hinged on us realizing this modern Yai is a reincarnation who has his past life memories intact; had we gone into a final kiss between them feeling grounded in all of that knowledge, it would have landed so much better.
Hello Commander
And now on to the post-credits scene, where Tee puts a plea into the universe to give him a second season so he can play around in another time period and explore what is evidently the origin of this soul tie between Jom and Yai. I chose to read this episode tag as separate from the actual season 1 narrative, and I think that was the intention given its placement. If they secure funding for a second season, this tag scene becomes the beginning of that next story, with Eyebrow Scar Yai's kiss sending Jom into another time travel adventure. If they don't we can just ignore it and pretend the pre-credits scene was the end (which is why I'm not happy it was so poorly done). I, for one, would love to see a second season to explore another time period and give Tee a chance to clean up some of this mess he has made of the mythology and season 1 resolution. Shouts to @clairedaring for reporting back from the live showing of the finale on what the possibilities are looking like there. Fingers crossed we get a continuation of this story some day!
Tagging in @waitmyturtles and @twig-tea who also have linked posts above. And shouts to @blmpff @cankersoregirl @pharawee @wanderlust-in-my-soul @italianpersonwithashippersheart @bengiyo @dragonsareawesome123 @wen-kexing-apologist @junghaesin @stuffnonsenseandotherthings @slayerkitty @respectthepetty @chickenstrangers @sunshinechay @btwinlines for posting about this show every week and making it such a fun watch despite having a small audience on here. It was a pleasure watching this with you all!

Hello how are you doing? Hope your doing just fine ❤💗💓 i really love your work so I was wondering i could please request lancelot x percival(platonic) headcanons?
Thanks so much have a amazing day!
Feel free to decline and detalte this ask:)
Hello! I never have make Headcanons of this style (character x character, Even Platonic) but i think i will try. Sorry it's a little short
Lancelot and Percival Platonic Headcanons
Genre: Headcanons
Warnings: SPOILERS!!!!Fluff and Angst.
OK! This can be considered more of a personal take based on what we saw in canon, but I think it's pretty obvious that Lancelot has 0 social skills.
I mean, he has spent a lot of his free time training or looking for Jericho, his only friend is Tristan and he only sees him when he travels to Liones (not very often) and in general he has this intimidating aura that makes it difficult to read him.
so it's pretty easy to say that not only does Lancelot have zero interest in friends, but he has too few to have any idea how to make them (I mean, Tristan met him through his parents, so I don't know how valid that is). be).
Percival, on the other hand, is a social butterfly without really knowing it.
The boy lived even more isolated than Lancelot, with only his grandfather, he was not even taught basic etiquette or certain unspoken manners of the "time", but at the same time Percival has no problem talking to people.
quite the opposite.
He is VERY interested in other people, sometimes to an overwhelming degree, and he is an extremely empathetic child, so it is VERY easy for him to forgive people and make friends (like with Donnie and Nasiens).
Let's be honest, if Lancelot had encountered similar situations, he would have killed them both before listening to reason or giving them a chance to improve.
but anyway, if we go to the more general things:
I think the main reason these two were able to become friends in the first place was precisely because of Percival's pure nature.
Even sincerely, I imagine that Lancelot thought for a LONG time that Percival was acting that way either to cope with the loss of his grandfather or simply so that people would underestimate him and thus make it easier to stand out.
in a way what he did with his form of "Sin" but more to the extreme.
I just don't think that someone like Lancelot, being the serious and almost pessimistic boy that he is, wouldn't distrust that a child who went through so many horrible things wasn't even a little bit resentful of life.
Although this idea weakened the more time he spent with Percival on his adventures to Liones, that idea would always really be in the back of his mind.
Percy was simply TOO good to be true.
and takes us to the scene where he is revealed to be Lancelot.
We know that Lancelot can see the hearts of others like a fairy, he has done it several times in the series, and it is precisely when he sees Percival's thoughts about him that it is revealed that he realizes that what he is doing is not an act.
Percival is EFFECTIVELY that good and naturally well-intentioned.
Lancelot finds Percy quite strange.
while Percival, well, finds it Awesome!
We already know that this ray of sunshine child already considered Lancelot a friend even when he thought he was a fox and that he was quite rude, it's just like that.
(i wonder if his nature as a life spirit allows him to unconsciously see the true nature of a person, or see if the person is trustworthy or not).
Anyway, going into things a little more generally, I think Lancelot tends to be a bit cautious with the people Percival interacts with.
not only because of the incidents that happened on the trip to Liones, but because in general Percival is, well, Percival.
Even if Lancelog wants to believe what Percival says, he is naturally distrustful and rightly so.
If you saw the demonic world arc, you will know that Lancelot is little by little letting himself "loose" with the rest of the group and allowing himself to be more relaxed with them, I like to think that it is because of Percy's influence.
The thing is, the baby is so bubbly and happy that it's hard not to play along.
Besides, Lancelot IS a boy after all, I think it's good for him to have a friend like Percival to remind him of that (they are both the same age but act in such different ways that it doesn't seem that way).
Lancelot is definitely harder on Percival in training because 1- he is one of the few members of the crew who does not underestimate him for being young and 2- he considers that he needs him to toughen up and thus perhaps better handle the things that will come later.
I think that in part Lancelot fears that Percy will turn out badly in the whole situation, that he will lose the innocence that characterizes him, but he considers that he is strong enough to protect him.
It reminds me a bit of a sibling dynamic in a way, Lance wants to prepare Percival to better handle the real world at the same time that he doesn't want him to change the way he is.
that's how they are¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In general I think that Lance is more protective of Percy than he lets on, not only because he is a knight of the profession as well and he needs him to be alive, but because they both understand each other in a certain way.
They both lost someone (either literally or metaphorically) because of the knights of chaos, they both want answers and/or revenge. Lance EMPATHIZES with him.
It's like he's trying to be Percy's "Jericho" in a way.
I mean, being the teacher/older brother figure that Percival needs at a time like this.
For the same reason, when Percival "dies" Lancelot not only takes it as a horrible loss, but as an absolute defeat.
He had set himself the mission of helping and guiding this CHILD on a path they were destined to have TOGETHER, but he didn't know how to do it well.
makes much of the responsibility fall on him and he doesn't really accept any other alternative.
He considers that being the strongest, it was HIS responsibility to protect Percival.
He asked me how things would be after what happened in the manga, but hey...only time will tell...
Shares, reglogs and comments are very welcome!
thanks for the request!❤️ but I don't think I'll be doing this type of Headcanons again anytime soon, they're just not my style, I prefer the x reader canon a thousand times😅

Dead Pasts and Dread Futures — a Dragon Age Longfic
If you're interested in my OC, Ixchel Lavellan, but may not end up reading all 600,000 words of her longfic—this is for you!
Below:
▸ TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ? - a 5 paragraph summary of her whole story, up to The Brave Guide. ▸ DETAILED OVERVIEW - Ixchel's first life in its entirety, and the events of Dead Pasts and Dread Futures. ▸ Dead Pasts and Dread Futures Breakdown - Key events in Dead Pasts and Dread Futures, leading up to the sequel, The Brave Guide.
TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ?
For those who just want an overview.
Ixchel Lavellan is the Inquisitor and main protagonist of my resurrection/time-travel/fix-it fanfiction series. Her story is #hopepunk and deals with her upward journey finding hope for herself & for the people around her. She starts at rock bottom. She was an orphan who appeared too human, or too elfy, to be accepted by either group. But eventually she was adopted by Clan Lavellan. Her previous experiences with rejection made her doubt their acceptance, so she volunteered to go to the Conclave. She first became Inquisitor as a clueless teenager and fucked up a lot. She had no romance arc, but she loved all of her friends dearly. Her entire life became the Inquisition, and when it ended she had nothing left. She died by suicide a few years after Trespasser when she’s ~ 25-27ish. Dorian ((and Solas)) used the power available after the Veil fell to return her back in time to the Conclave to do it all over again. Though at times she believes it is futile, she tries to convince Solas to abandon the din'an'shiral. She struggles with hope herself, yet she tries to make those around her more hopeful. In the end, Solas does choose a different path—one that does not lead to death, but to hope. The fic "ends" after Ixchel achieves a solid foundation for herself emotionally, and for Solas. She is now ready to grapple with other questions: about power, about race, about legacy. But that is a story that is told in the next fic: The Brave Guide.
Detailed Overview
For those who want a slightly longer (but still much abbreviated) play-by-play.
Early Life
A nameless orphan grew up fending for herself and sheltering in ruins in Ferelden prior to the Fifth Blight. No Dalish Clans she encountered took her in, either because of her not-fully-elven appearance (unlikely) or because times were tight and dangerous due to the encroaching Blight (more likely). She believed it to be due to her not being fully Elven and developed a complex about wanting to belong. She stowed away on a boat to the Free Marches and ended up wandering the countryside. After the Archdemon’s defeat she returned to Ferelden, and in a ruin there she discovered a word she’d found written on a wall: IX CHEL. She encountered a mysterious traveler (Halevune Mahariel, HOF), who translated the inscrutable runes into "Ixchel," and she thought it was pretty so she took it as her name.
She eventually did return to the countryside outside of Markham calling herself by this new name. In 9:37 Dragon, a particularly harsh winter drove the Lavellan Clan to seek out the orphan and took her in to teach her to hunt and fend for herself better. She remained with the clan for a short time but wanted to “prove” herself, so she volunteered to go to the Conclave as a spy, due to her ability to pass as a human and travel unnoticed. She was roughly sixteen years old.
Some traits inherent to her upbringing are: she has a nearly photographic memory and can memorize things pretty well be repeating things to herself, which is how she would “learn” things from ruins growing up; she has no terrible fear of demons—no more so than bears, for demons are predictable creatures of habit and will eventually give up chasing; Darkspawn have always terrified her.
First Inquisition
She is pulled in many directions by her advisors and companions and tried to please everyone, but that always meant someone disapproved of her choices. She slowly developed her own moral code mostly through saying “oh, shit, I actually hate how I feel after making that decision.” Her advisers were pissed at her when she formed an equal alliances with the Free Mages. So when she had to choose for the Wardens, she conscripted them. Which pissed everyone off because they wanted her to exile them. And so on.
She tried the make the Inquisition welcome to everyone and thus decorated and incorporated aspects of many different cultures in it, but she worried that she just ended up making everyone feel uncomfortable, and it had the unfortunate side effect of highlighting that she didn’t really feel like she belonged to any group. She butted heads with Sera a LOT in these regards, due to Sera’s scorn for how much Ixchel desperately wanted to be “an elfy elf.”
Her first Inquisition lasted a very long time—many years, in fact—as she criss-crossed Thedas and fumbled so much and tried to figure out who and what Corypheus was.
Solas
By the time Corypheus is defeated, Ixchel comes to think of the Inquisition as her family—a family that no longer needs an Inquisitor. Her closest friends were Dorian, Solas, and Cassandra. Dorian as an older brother/best friend, Cassandra as a sister/stern tutor, and Solas as a mentor and nurturing figure. She was endlessly curious, good-hearted, and quick to learn. Solas saw a lot of himself in her desire to do good… and the constant mistakes she made. He afforded her the forgiveness and support that he never offers himself. She had no biases of the Chantry or Dalish upbringings and absorbed everything he had to teach her about history, war, politics, elves, spirits, dragons, you name it. But part of this curiosity and openness meant that Ixchel picked up on certain inconsistencies and evasions, and she became somewhat suspicious about his origins. After the encounter at the Temple of Mythal, she figured out not only that he was an Ancient Elf… but that he was Fen'Harel himself. He admitted as much but did not fully explain his history, his role in it, or his agenda. They grew even closer as friends and she asked him ever more questions about the past. But Ixchel did not end up adopting his philosophies and in the end the student would surpass the teacher in many ways. For as many ways as they differed in opinion… in other ways, she was shaped very much by him and Dorian’s insecurities and flaws of Pride and fatalism.
Gaining Her Vallaslin
She lost her Clan during this time and definitely blames her advisors in part. With her clan’s death, her self esteem took a massive hit and she didn’t think she deserved to be welcomed as an elf because she thought she hadn’t done enough for them. She had learned about Celene’s burning of Halamshiral after she saved Celene’s life. Sera was constantly mocking her. And her advisers were constantly exasperated at her. After a very hard-won “victory” at Adamant, Ixchel had a bit of a spiral. Solas and Dorian and Cassandra picked her back up out of it and started building her up as her own person, growing from her mistakes, and finding worth in herself. She completed Jaws of Hakkon during this time. When she discovered Ameridan’s identity she of course wanted to bring that information to the Dalish. She ended up taking it personally to the clan on the Exalted Plains lead by Keeper Hawen. He had originally called her a “flat ear” and a “shem” but then she went OUT of her way to help them, and then this: she brought not only the news that the first Inquisitor, Ameridan, was Dalish and a mage—but also presented the Clan with the Sulevin Blade—and gave them the original copy of the Tale of Red Crossing found in Din'an Hanin. For this effort, Hawen—who had already started to see her as “a Dalish elf standing for all Thedas”—offered her the vallaslin of Dirthamen, the Secret Keeper. She was to take this honor as “a lore-seeker, secret-keeper, and finder-of-kin.” Solas took her aside at this point and told her the truth about the vallaslin. She had her first real fight with him about it and insisted she would take the vallaslin because of what it represented to her and to the modern elves. He ends up telling her that he respects her decision and admires her but she feels like there’s a hollowness to it.
Post-Corypheus
Ixchel’s entire personhood was built around the Inquisition. Her first and only real taste of family, of home, came with it. And after Corypheus’s defeat, her found family began to drift away. Solas left first, of course, without saying goodbye. Cassandra became Divine. Leliana was often busy helping Cassandra. Dorian went back to Tevinter. Thom began his travels to preach and support the imprisoned across Thedas. Cole, who had become more human, went with Varric to Kirkwall. Her armies began to return home. Etcetera, etcetera.
With her clan massacred, Ixchel has no purpose and no place in the world. She travelled with Morrigan and Kieran for a while. They spent time with the Avvar and Chasind, and they traveled all over via eluvian and on foot. Ixchel started learning ancient Elvhen from Morrigan, who had the Well of Sorrows. She and Kieran, who was only about 4 or 5 years younger than her, grew close. Mahariel returned from the West, having failed in his endeavors, and stayed with them for a time. But then Mahariel started to get sick.
Ixchel leaves, for she thinks that she's intruding on that little family's grief. She doesn't know that they considered her family, too. Ixchel returned to Skyhold alone, and she attends the Exalted Council in the midst of a deep depression made worse by the Anchor's destabilization and the tension of politics surrounding the Inquisition. Solas's revelation—and his refusal to let her join him—drives her nearly to the edge of her sanity, and she never fully recovers.
Post-Exalted Council
In the aftermath, Ixchel disbanded the Inquisition entirely.
Cassandra wanted her to stay in the grand cloister where she had come to live, but Ixchel didn’t want to take up her time and concern. Cole offered to come back to Skyhold to stay with her but she thought his work was too important. Cullen wanted to stay with her but she essentially kicked him out, because she believed in his lyrium rehabilitation clinic. And so on, and so on, until Skyhold was left with no more than thirty people in it at the time. Her anti-Solas efforts were essentially comprised of herself, Charter, Lace Harding, and Jester, and Sutherland and Sutherland’s company. Ixchel tried for a while to find a way to defeat or disprove Solas’s plans, but she had a harder and harder time motivating herself.
After the events of Callback, where Solas’s frescoes are destroyed by a demon who fed on Solas’s Regrets, Ixchel’s story starts to end.
Dead Pasts and Dread Futures
DPDF starts with Ixchel’s death, her literal rock bottom. Solas succeeds and the Veil comes down. Magic floods the world, and Dorian uses his gifts and this limitless power to reforge Ixchel’s soul out of the distant Fade, reforge her body out of his memories, and sends her back in time. Solas meddles.
Ixchel isn’t the kind of person who can turn her back on people in need, and her story is thus about how empathy sometimes leads to an overwhelming sense of responsibility, and how and when to set boundaries for her own sanity and health. She jumps into the Inquisition all over again, relying on her foreknowledge and her regrets to lead her decisions this time. As her power grows, she begins to question too how much she SHOULD meddle, and how much should be left up to the free will of people around her. Her relationships with every single companion (except Sera) are explored, and the dissonance between what she knows and loves about them & what they know and understand about themselves is highlighted.
And she finds herself empathizing and loving and wishing better for Solas every step of the way. They have a romance that’s overshadowed by feelings of guilt and grief that are at once related to the person in front of them, and also not at all. They are broken in a lot of the same ways. They are mirrors for each other. And in loving the other they learn to love and forgive themselves.
The thesis of Ixchel’s story is this: “Hope is a choice you make every day. Belief is a state of being.” The question is when, if ever, hope can become belief.
Ixchel does convince Solas to choose hope… and to help her continue to choose hope, too. They can pick each other up when they stumble or waver on this path. They don’t support each other, or follow each other–they walk with each other in parallel as equals.
Dead Pasts and Dread Futures only "ends" because I felt it had reached somewhat of a good stopping point, and it was quite long. However, Ixchel still grapples with the power she's accumulated and the consequences of her policies as Inquisitor. Her story isn't over In The Brave Guide, she works closely with Mahariel to explore the nature of racial and class politics, and the nature of the Blight.
Dead Pasts and Dread Futures Bullet Breakdown
Ixchel saved both the Mages and the Templars and recruited them into the Inquisition
Ixchel convinced Samson and Calpernia to defect from Corypheus’s ranks
Ixchel killed Corypheus’s red lyrium dragon
Ixchel recruited the Wardens after Adamant
No one (….sorta) was left in the Fade
Ixchel can hear the Calling, and lyrium, for some mysterious reason, though she is not Blighted herself
Ixchel is developing mild magical ability independent of the Anchor
Cole chose to align more with his Spirit side
Dorian, Cassandra, Solas, Cole, Morrigan, and Kieran all know the truth about Ixchel’s past and the circumstances of her resurrection
…though no one but Ixchel and Cole know that Solas is the Dread Wolf.
Ixchel reunited Briala and Celene. Gaspard is dead. Briala and Celene are having some Issues ™️
The Halamshiral Alienage was burned a second time by Gaspard’s Chevaliers and malcontents, with some string-pulling by Corypheus
The Halamshiral Alienage formed a labor union comprised of disenfranchized humans, alienage elves, and other nonhuman merchants and bargained with Celene and Briala with the neutral support of the Inquisition
In the wake of what happened in Halamshiral, Ixchel is viewed as a leader of rebellions for equality, named “The Brave Guide.”
Alienages all around Thedas have begun to demand their walls to be torn down, to integrate with their cities with equal amenities or be allowed self-governance.
Mythal is meddling in her life again, though Ixchel and Solas cannot figure out why.
Ixchel has discovered that a key ingredient to her resurrection was the Old God Soul that Mythal took from Kieran, though it is now dead or dormant within Ixchel
Ixchel and Solas are in a loving, trusting, and very communicative relationship. #battlecouple
He has abandoned the din'an'shiral to instead walk with Ixchel on a path of hope – to work with the world as it is, rather than to change it by force
Ixchel has begun to incorporate spirit channeling/partial temporary possession into her battle style, the way the Avvar do.
Anders and Justice separated with the help of the Avvar, and now Anders is a willing test subject to practice curing Tranquility.
Ixchel personally intervened in Wycome to Save Clan Lavellan and Protect Wycome’s Alienage, and thwarted the Venatori’s red lyrium plot
Anti-Elven sentiment across Thedas is threatening to boil over
She met the mysterious Marquis de Serault, who has discovered red lyrium growing in their Marquisate
She captured Red Templars and they are now willingly working with several arcanists to help cure them of red lyrium infection.
Corypheus attacked Skyhold but Ixchel thwarted him and stole the Orb of Destruction, which she now keeps below Skyhold.
Corypheus escaped.
And there we have it, 600,000+ words summed up!
The questions dealt with The Brave Guide are more about dissonance between how one is perceived and how much control one has over it, and what to do with the image you have in the world. Where DPDF was about Ixchel vs. Herself more often than not, TBG is more about Ixchel vs. The Image of Ixchel – as well as Solas vs. Himself, because hope isn’t easy.

✨Their MHA/BNHA quirk ✨
Dorayaki bitch:
- I was thinking something like Sato's quirk
- the more Taiyaki/Dorayaki he eats, the stronger he gets
- and he's able to roundhouse kick people who are MUCH taller (Taiju) in the face
- downside: he falls asleep pretty quickly after or during fights
Dorakegg-kun:
-something to do with dragons
- he can summon small dragons from his tattoo
- the more he summons, the smaller and weaker they get
- downside: his tattoo starts swelling and he gets a splitting headache
"Nanda Nanda" :
- I feel like this dude would have either a fire breathing quirk
OR
- hair quirk
- kinda like that one dude from Shiketsu high?
- but he can only manipulate his head hair
- uses it in fighting to trap villains or throw them pretty far (kinda like sero's tape, but not sticky)
- downside: when used too much, his hair starts tangling which prevents further use AND means a few hours of detangling
"BAJI-SAN!!":
- I think Chifuyu would have a quirk that has something to do with shoujo manga
- some sort of romantic quirk
- like, he needs to kiss someone (anywhere, whether it be the head, hands, lips, forehead, etc.) To be able to activate his quirk
- once activated, he can mess with someone's mind
- make them see things that aren't there, or believe things that aren't true
- downside: the more he uses it, the worse his own mental state gets, and he might get some depressive episodes
Mamasuya:
- something to do with clothes?
-Either he can manipulate fabrics like best jeanist
- or he can (as long as he has enough fabric) can create anything from fabrics at hand
- downside: severe headaches; swelling in his hands and face (kind of like an allergic reaction)
Can't stop smiling:
- "looks can kill"
- if he stares at someone with "that" smile, while his quirk is activated he can either (1) make them fall unconscious or into a coma, or (2) he can actually kill them
- downside: when used too much, he can't feel his cheeks anymore, and may not be able to smile for a while
Blue ogre:
- I think we all know what this baby's quirk is
- AHEM tenjiku arc AHEM
- when he cries and goes crazy?
- yeah, I think that's enough
Scar face:
- something to do with katana's (like DAMN BITCH put that fucking Katana down!!)
- he can summon a katana out of thin air (two at most)
- he can manipulate it's length and shape
- downside: because he summons the katana from his hand, when used excessively, his hands start getting cuts from nowhere. If used TOO much, the cuts spread to his arms
Crybaby hero:
- doesn't he already have a quirk????
- anyways, pretending he can't time travel, I think it'd be some thing to do with his tears
- Acidic tears
- he can cry whenever he wants to, and once his quirk is activated, his tears become acidic
- he can move his tears however he wants, throwing them at villains in order to burn them
- downside: the trail of tears going down his cheeks will start burning after a while, and when used WAY TOO much, he can go temporarily blind
Gang dex:
- he knows wayyyyy too much about gangs and what not
- his quirk would be something like "super memory"
-or "files", where he can store 'files' in his brain and use them whenever needed
- downside: when used too much, he becomes slow, and his learning capacity decreases (kind of like when Denki short circuits, but not as bad)
Takuya:
- some sort of healing quirk
- downside: he'll get the injuries he heals, just less severe
Kisaki Titties:
- incredible brain
- MEGA MIND
- he's too smart for his own good
- or some sort of manipulation quirk like Shinsou's
-downside: I can't think of one
Hentai Hoes:
- some sort of joint quirk
- kinda like their regular technique but super-powery
- OR ran can summon a baton out of nowhere
- and Rindou Is super flexibile or something
Tora:
-something to do with his tattoo?
He can summon a tiger maybe?
He can communicate with it too
Downside: when used too much, his tattoo starts bleeding

What are your thoughts on the 5DS movie bonds beyond time? Plot characters villain animation and so on
Ahhh, good old BBT. Minor caveat: It's been a hot second since I've seen the movie. But generally speaking, right from the gut? Bit of a mixed bag, this one. Let me address what you asked point by point, though. The tl;dr for anyone who doesn't want a lengthy response: I don't hate it, but outside of making me grin and/or fondly roll my eyes about some fanservice, I'm mostly just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about it. I appreciate it for the extremely fun attempt at a for the time pretty ambitious crossover, though.
The longer response, then:
Okay. Okay. Conceptually speaking? This movie is the absolute peak of fanservice. All three protags of all three ygo shows that had come out by that time, all teaming up against a special bad guy, and everyone's allowed to show off their coolest shit? Absolutely bananas. Fuck yeah.
Where the execution is concerned, though... Let me start with the obvious: This thing is too short. It doesn't feel like a proper movie, it feels like your average big plot duel stretched over two episodes. And that's a shame! Because Yugi's there, and so is Jaden, and these two and Yusei get to bounce off each other and I think a lot of people would have eaten it up if we had gotten more of that. Interactions aside, though, the short runtime also makes the plot feel rushed. First Yusei's sad, then things are going to shit, the he's off, then we're suddenly in Venice (what the fuck is Jaden doing in Venice??), then we're in Domino City, then blam, bam, onto the big duel. Can I get some time to breathe and actually enjoy the characters interacting, please?
And speaking of plot! Now, on paper, I don't have an issue with the idea of a guy going back in time to try and get rid of duel monsters. My problem lies more with the fact that the guy in question ties into 5Ds' main plot. And in a not insignificant way, at that. Like, perhaps in a universe where this movie was handled differently, BBT tying into the Iliaster stuff could have been cool as heck, but as it stands, Paradox and his plans feel a little too close to his namesake to me. The guy is almost exclusively relegated to a movie, to outside content of the show that wasn't shown in sequence with the rest of the episodes, yet he's actually one of the major characters of the Ark Cradle arc. And worse yet, said arc only gives us the barest, shittiest recap of who he is and what he wanted. It feels too disconnected from the rest for me, especially considering that Sherry more or less ends up replacing Paradox. And don't even get me started on the batshit implications his quest to kill Pegasus has on the way time travel is handled in 5Ds. The way this movie shows direct, devastating consequences of time being tampered with is a major reason for the headaches the emperors of Iliaster give me, which I've discussed in my Meklord post.
That said. I don't think Paradox, per se, is a bad antagonist. He's got the whole long-suffering shindig the other major players of Iliaster do, too, his design is bonkers in a fun way and of course, the idea of him hijacking protagonist ace monsters with his Malefic shenanigans makes him perfectly hateable. On paper, he's a completely fine antagonist, and I actually think the 3 V 1 duel he has with the protags is pretty fun.
And as for the animation, no notes there, honestly. I think BBT has some of the nicest animation of the 5Ds era (and especially like the way Yusei is animated in the movie).
So yeah! The whole thing is a bit hot and cold for me. I know some people love BBT to death, I know some people hate it with a fiery passion, and tbh, I get where both sides are coming from. Ultimately, I'll happily watch it, but there are always at least twenty other 5Ds episodes I'd watch even more happily. BBT is fine.

Emerald's Aladdin: Wants Versus Needs
Emerald's Aladdin allusion is a difficult one to understand (or at least it was so for me) and I even doubted it for a while. Still, it is actually there and it is a pretty good one, as well. So, let's explore Emerald's fairy tale and see how its story is intertwined with our hidden gem's.
A QUICK SUMMARY AND KEY ELEMENTS
First of all, a quick summary of Aladdin's original fairy tale. Feel free to skip it if you already know the story:
Aladdin is a boy who lives in poverty until a wizard arrives and introduces himself as Aladdin's uncle. He promises the boy a huge fortune if he retrieves something for him. The boy accepts and travels with his fake uncle to a mysterious cave. The fake uncle instructs Aladdin to enter the cave and to take an old oil lamp. He also gives the boy a magic ring that should help him in his mission. Aladdin enters and retrieves the lamp, but the wizard tries to double cross him and as a result Aladdin finds himself trapped with the lamp and the ring.
Aladdin discovers the ring contains a geenie that teleports him home. Once there, he finds out the lamp too has a geenie, who is even more powerful. So, he uses the geenies' magic to marry princess Badroulbadour (Full Moon of Full Moons) and to live with her in a fancy palace. However, the evil wizard hears of Aladdin's fortune and steals the lamp teleporting the princess and the castle away from him. Aladdin uses the ring to find Badroulbadour and together they defeat the wizard. In some versions at this point the wizard's more powerful brother appears and Aladdin and the Princess have to defeat him too.
As per usual, RWBY takes some elements from the fairy tale and turns them into recurring motifs in its characters' arcs. For Emerald, these are the key ideas we must look out for:
The 2 evil wizards
The 2 geenies
The Ring and the Lamp
The Princess
In particular, Emerald's allusion takes the 2 malevolent wizards and fuses them with the 2 geenies. The result is 2 evil abusers, who trick Emerald with the promise of granting all her wishes:
Cinder: "Follow me, and you'll never be hungry again."
Salem: "The path to your desires is only found… through me."
GEENIES AND WIZARDS
How can we be sure Cinder and Salem are Emerald's 2 geenies? The answer lies in these 2 parallel scenes:
Cinder: I know my fair share of liars and thieves. Stealing is an art of patience, coordination, and in a pinch, sleight of hand. But you didn't steal the ring in your pocket. You took it right before the jeweller's eyes. And he smiled.
Salem: You really have been honing that Semblance of yours. What did you do with the Lamp?
These 2 moments are meant to be foiled and juxtaposed. They are when Emerald enters and leaves the cycle of abuse, which overlap with the beginning and the end of her villanious career. Moreover, her powerful semblance and her thief motif are on focus both times (we'll see later why).
The fact that in such key scenes the ring and the lamp - so fairy tale's symbols - are mentioned by Cinder and Salem marks these 2 characters as respectively the geenie of the ring and the geenie of the lamp. This makes sense considering the role of the 2 geenies in Aladdin's story:
The geenie of the ring is less powerful, but he never leaves Aladdin. He is the one that frees Aladdin from the cave and the one that reunites him with the princess, even if he can't defeat the geenie of the lamp. In short, he is a less powerful spirit, but clearly symbolic of Aladdin's own inner strength.
The geenie of the lamp is more powerful, but he is stolen later on and used against Aladdin. So, he is really a 2 edged sword and less linked to Aladdin as a character. For example, it is not Aladdin himself that discovers him, but rather his mother.
What does it have to do with Cinder and Salem? Well, if you combine the 2 geenies with the 2 wizards trying to trick Aladdin, then you get Emerald's 2 abusers:
Cinder, who is way less powerful than Salem, but whose relationship with Em is way more personal
Salem, who is a force to be reckoned with, but ultimately not central to Em's arc.
In short, the wizard of the ring (Cinder) is less powerful physically, but has more psychological power over Em, while the wizard of the lamp (Salem) is more dangerous, but ultimately her grip on Em's mind is weaker.
Let's now see if this interpretative key works for Emerald's overall arc and if our gem's story fits Aladdin's fairy tale.
THE CAVE OF WONDERS AS A METAPHOR FOR THE CYCLE OF ABUSE
Emerald is introduced as a street rat living in poverty until Cinder promises her a better life. This is how Aladdin's story begins. To be more specific, Emerald and Cinder's relationship is very similar to the one between Aladdin and the Wizard.
The Wizard enters Aladdin's life and becomes a father figure. In particular, he gives Aladdin gifts and grooms him with the excuse of being his teacher. This is exactly what Cinder does with Emerald:
Emerald: I just… Cinder was the only family I ever had. She cared about me, taught me things…
Moreover, one of the first signs of the Wizard's evil nature is him slapping Aladdin so violently that the boy spits blood. Well, Cinder acts in the same way:
Emerald: We don't need him! Everything was going fine! (a slap is heard, and she cries out in pain) Cinder: Do not mistake your place.
So Cinder, just like the Wizard, tricks Emerald into following her and traps the younger girl into an abusive relationship. The lie works out until Cinder and Emerald go to retrieve a certain Lamp:
Just like with Aladdin and the Wizard, the appearence of the Lamp marks Emerald's separation from Cinder:
Emerald: It's not over! Cinder will come back, she'll have the Relic, and she'll stop all of you! She won't let us down.
Emerald keeps believing in Cinder even when everything seems lost, but in the end she is let down. Symbolically, she is left behind, trapped in the cycle of abuse (the cave of wonders) with an even stronger and more dangerous abuser (the geenie of the lamp):
It is telling that while Cinder is away, Salem immediately acts to bring Emerald under her control and to weaken her bond with the previous "geenie":
Salem: Emerald… I want you to tell me whose fault this was. Now. Emerald: Cinder! We failed because of Cinder…
Salem does so by using desire-rooted rhetoric:
Salem: It's important not to lose sight of what drives us: Love, justice, reverence… (she meets Emerald's eyes briefly) …But, the moment you put your desires before my own… they will be lost to you.
She frames herself as the only one who can grant Emerald's wishes. She and not Cinder is Emerald's true geenie. Hers is an attempt to replace Cinder as Emerald's authority figure. She tries to become Emerald's new "master". However, her attempt has actually the opposite result because it stimulates Emerald to self-reflect and new ideas start coming to her. Like, that she is not in the right place and may not even need a geenie to fulfill her dreams:
Tyrian: Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. I want to tell you both a little secret. Your question is all wrong. "What do you want from this?" Children, please, if you're not loving what you're doing, then you're in the wrong field.
Especially, if her geenie doesn't really care:
Mercury: Wake up, already… Cinder doesn't care about you! She doesn't care about either of us!
Emerald initially refuses these hard truths, but they start to slowly erode her idealized idea of Cinder. In the end, she is able to see her precious geenie of the ring for who she is:
In Cinder and Salem's relationship Emerald sees a mirror of her own with Cinder. She finally realizes Cinder has been treating her, just like Salem treats Cinder. All Cinder's promises and even her kindness were tools to trap Emerald and enslave her. Cinder isn't a geenie at her service, but Emerald herself has become Cinder's servant. This revelation leads Emerald to leave Salem and Cinder. She leaves the fascinating, but dangerous cave full of fake treasures and illusions. She leaves the cycle of abuse once and for all.
THE LAMP AND THE RING
Emerald's escape from the "cave of wonders" is meant to show she is slowly developing. When she joins Cinder, Emerald steals a ring and is tricked, while when she leaves, she doesn't steal the Lamp and tricks Salem.
Stealing and illusions are 2 key motifs for Emerald's story:
Delusion I'll steal til your blind and defeat you from inside your mind Illusions Will conquer your mind and will make you fulfill my design
Emerald is introduced as having nothing, so she steals and conjures up illusions not to feel empty. However, no matter how much she takes from others or how wonderful her dreams are, she is still hungry. After all, she steals things she doesn't truly want and lies to herself.
Because of this, Emerald escaping Salem without stealing means she is growing. She is starting to better understand what her true wishes are and how to turn them into reality. Similarly, when Cinder finds Emerald, she sees through the girl's illusions and realize that behind the street criminal there is a scared child she can use. However, when Emerald leaves Cinder, she fully recognizes Cinder's abuse towards her, as well as Salem's mistreatment of Cinder. She has outgrown Cinder and can now see better than her. As a result, her illusions grow strong enough to trick even the almighty geenie of the Lamp.
In other words, on Monstra Emerald starts a path to reach what she truly wants and, like her literary counterpart, she finds some tools that help her in this journey. The difference is that Aladdin finds a physical Ring and a physical Lamp, while Emerald's Ring and Lamp are symbols of her inner growth. She doesn't have to look outside to turn her dreams into reality, but must develop as a person and pursue her wishes herself. So, her Ring and her Lamp represent parts of her. The Ring is something she has always had, while the Lamp is something she acquires in Monstra (in the cave of wonders).
1- The Ring symbolizes Emerald's true worth, which is why she steals this jewel when she meets Cinder. It metaphorically suggests Emerald herself is the real precious ring. Or to better say she is an "emerald in the rough":
youtube
"Only one may enter here, one whose worth lies far within... the Diamond in the Rough" (Aladdin, 1992)
She is a gem covered in filth, whose potential needs to be recognized and brought to the surface:
I'm the one Who rose out of filth and was loved by no-one
This is probably the idea that inspired Emerald's design as well:
She always wears brown outfits with some green in the center because she is meant to look like an emerald that struggles to emerge from mud.
In story, Emerald's potential is metaphorically represented by her semblance, which is commented on by several characters and considered pretty powerful. After all, her ability is why she can be such a game changer in Atlas despite doing pretty little. Just a small illusion on her part is sufficient to trick God and to free a Kingdom.
More importantly, her semblance is why 2 key characters take an interest in Emerald.
The first one is obviously Cinder (the evil Wizard), who sees Em using her illusions to steal the ring, recognizes her talent and decides to corrupt her. She isn't really interested in Emerald as a person and traps her in a delusion, where she can't really grow:
The second one is Oscar (the good Wizard), who is freed thanks to Emerald's semblance and sees her as a precious ally:
Oscar: I've seen what you can do, Emerald. However this fight ends, we could really use someone like you.
He is also trying to help Emerald personally and to inspire her to be better. He is mentoring her toward becoming a happier version of herself:
2-The Lamp represents Knowledge (obviously). Emerald's development in volume 8 is strictly intertwined with this idea, as it is one huge realization on multiple levels.
On the one hand she discovers the truth about Salem and the bigger conflict:
Ozpin: "So long as this world turns, you shall walk its face". That was the curse cast upon her. But if Salem can divide Humanity beyond repair, and bring all four Relics together, she believes that maybe her curse will be broken. The Gods will rule against us and destroy Remnant, once and for all.
On the other hand she discovers the truth about Cinder and herself:
Mercury: Would you stop trying to protect her already? She doesn’t care about you.
It is thanks to this clarity that she manages to leave. After all, her defection follows the scene where Emerald and Hazel see Jinn. It couldn't be clearer symbolically. They both receive knowledge and so are able to overcome their internalized illusions and to oppose Salem.
So, Emerald leaves the cycle of abuse (the cave of wonders) by using her semblance (the ring) and with a new found knowledge (the lamp). Her whole scene with Salem even calls back to her fairy tale, where the evil Wizard insists that Aladdin gives him the Lamp, only for the boy to refuse:
Salem: (The Lamp) is missing. Where is it? Emerald: I didn't do anything with it.
Still, there is a key difference between Aladdin's story and Em's. Aladdin has the Lamp the Wizard desires, while Emerald is really ignorant about its whereabouts. Why is that so?
It is true that Emerald not stealing can be seen as her starting to leave her flawed coping mechanism behind. However, Emerald refusing to take the Lamp when leaving with Oscar leads to bad consequences. So, why does this happen? The answer is that even if Emerald is now wiser, she still has to learn things.
As I have explained in this post, Emerald goes from one extreme to the other. She goes from being obsessed with Cinder to ignore her altogether, even when she clearly shouldn't. To be more clear:
After Emerald's quiet moment of realization on the bridge, she just stops considering Cinder in a way that is almost odd. It is a very huge shift of her focus, which is really not explored nor verbalized. Emerald simply starts to act on other things and relationships. She tries to convince Mercury to leave with her, joins Hazel, bonds with Oscar and so on. In all of this, she never tries to communicate with Cinder. Actually, it is implied she is ignoring her:
Watts: Did… Did anyone respond? Cinder: No.
Sure, initially RWBY and co might have taken her scroll away, but in Vacuo she is shown to have it. This means she saw the call and ignored it. Let’s highlight that Emerald believing Oz and Oscar does not explain her behaviour towards Cinder. She tries to convince Mercury of the truth and could have made an attempt with Cinder as well. However, she does not and simply leaves her.
The easiest explanation is that the clock striking midnight has finally dispelled the idealized illusion she had of Cinder. Still, the end result is not really Em being able to unpack her relationship with Cinder or to face it. Rather it is her repressing it altogether. Cinder who?
Basically she has turned Cinder from everything into nothing. She has made her disappear. However, she can’t really ignore Cinder and the consequence of this negation is on a meta level Cinder attacking her new group and making victims.
Emerald has gained self-awareness, but has still to fully unpack Cinder's abuse and their relationship. She still lacks Knowledge, so she fails to take the Lamp with her. This ends up with the Lamp being stolen and used against Emerald's new found family.
A DIVIDED FAMILY AND A LOST PRINCESS
At one point in Aladdin's story, the Wizard steals the Lamp and uses it to teleport Aladdin's castle and the Princess away. This endangers Aladdin's life and breaks his heart. This is the point we currently are in Emerald's rewriting of Aladdin. This moment is declined in 2 different ways.
1- Cinder uses the Lamp in Atlas
Cinder, as the Evil Wizard, manages to take the Relic of Knowledge, to learn the password and to use it to her advantage. The Lamp gives her all the information she needs to win in Atlas, kill Penny and send team RWBY + Jaune into the void. All of this happens just after Emerald defects and finds a new place for herself. Her home is immediately threatened by Cinder, that Emerald understimates and tries not to think about.
Right now, a part of Emerald's possible family is separated from her and she is through a self-defining journey to find where she truly belongs.
2- Salem sends Mercury to Vacuo
Salem, as the Geenie of the Lamp, sends Emerald's partner away from her. Mercury, just like Princess Badroulbadour (Full Moon of Full Moons), is linked to the moon (silver = moon). Not only that, but he too finds himself trapped and isolated, similarly to the Princess when her castle is teleported away from Aladdin. However, in the end Aladdin finds the Princess again and together they trick and kill the Wizard.
This is probably what is going to happen with Emerald and Mercury, as well. Emerald is currently headed to where Mercury is, so that they can find each other again, fight Salem (the Wizard of the Lamp) and face Cinder (the Wizard of the Ring) together.
SO MANY GEENIES!
Emerald's story is not over, so it is possible her fairy tale will resonate more when her arc climaxes. As for now, let's just have some fun with her geenie motif and see how it can fit her plotline in many different ways!
This is just a meta-headcanon, but I like it. If Mercury indeed references The Spirit in the Glass Bottle he may be Emerald's third and final geenie. He is the spirit Emerald needs to free from his prison (like in the Disney movie), so that they both can have their wish granted. This would also work as a call back to the vastly popular idea of 3 wishes. Cinder is Emerald's first geenie/wish, Salem is her second one and Mercury the third and true one.
Emerald has actually 4 geenies. 2 are malicious, while 2 are more well-natured. To be more specific, Salem (Lamp) and Cinder (Ring) are the negative geenies to Hazel (Lamp) and Mercury (Ring)'s positive ones. After all, Hazel is freed thanks to the Lamp and he fights Salem to save Emerald. In a sense, he is the geenie that frees both himself and Aladdin from the cave of wonders. A similar thing may happen with Mercury, as well. He is currently stuck in abuse, but it is no mystery his feelings for Emerald may free him, so that he can support Em during her eventual face-off with Cinder.
Cinder is initially a combination between Emerald's Wizard and her Geenie/Wish. This is in line with how RWBY depicts abusive relationships. The abuser ends up becoming her victim's world. For example, Adam is both Beast and Rose to Blake and Salem is both Stepmother and Fairy to Cinder. Here, Cinder is both Wizard and Geenie. However, as Emerald breaks free from her she is bound to find new wizards and geenies. For her arc, we can already see 2 key characters replacing Cinder. Oscar is Emerald's new Wizard. He becomes Emerald's new mentor and inspiration and they are bound to develop a sibling dynamic with no strings attached. Mercury is set up to become Emerald's new geenie, in the sense of a new wish and objective Emerald might have to fulfill. After all, Emerald is already a part of Oscar and Mercury's respective allusions (she is the Emerald Forest and the Emerald Tablet), so it makes sense they are gonna be a part of hers, as well.
Now, these are just theories and it is also possible new elements will come into Emerald's allusion that may change things. However, the meaning behind Emerald's geenie symbolism is clear. She herself has to become her own geenie. She can't depend on others to realize her dreams, but must work hard to fulfill them with no short-cuts. In this way she may find happiness and maybe even transform into someone else's Geenie:
Emerald: Can I ask you something? Why did you come with us, the night Cinder and I found you? Mercury: Why are you asking-- Emerald: Just answer the question. Mercury: Just made sense. Emerald: That's it? Mercury: Hey, what's your problem? Emerald: I mean, there has to be something you want from this, right?
Emerald is the one that challenges Mercury to think about what he truly wants. This is not by chance and ties with Emerald's thematic role in the story, especially when it comes to CEM, my favourite trio of misfits.
BECOME YOUR OWN GEENIE - WANTS VS NEEDS
This is Aladdin's teaching, according to One Thousand and One Nights:
"Sire," said Scheherazade, ending the story of the adventures of the marvelous lamp, "your majesty will no doubt have noticed in the person of the African magician a man with the passion of possessing treasures. He discovered many of them, but he couldn't enjoy them because he became unworthy. On the contrary, your majesty can see in Aladdin a man of low birth, who rose to King, by using those same treasures only to the extent he needs them to reach his goal.
This is just another way to say Aladdin as a story explores the idea of wants vs needs. This is a very common trope in writing that can be used in multiple ways.
The basic idea is that there is a difference between a superficial wish and a deep need. Sometimes people would ignore what they need in favour of what they want. However, only by realizing and fulfilling the need they can be happy and sometimes even get the want.
Well, CEM's arcs are all different takes on this theme:
Emerald's want and need overlap. She wants/needs love and a family. However, she gets at it wrong. She wants her family to be Cinder, but she needs Mercury + the protagonists.
Cinder's want is power, but her need is freedom. Notice that as a child she correctly identifies her need/want. However, her traumatic past forces her to give up on it.
Mercury is an inversion. He is currently trying to fulfill his basic need aka survival. However, he must realize what he really wants (Emerald's safety) and act on it. Only in this way he can get to his existential need > to become himself, instead than Marcus's copy.
All 3 members of CEM must struggle with this psychological conundrum and Emerald is the one who will figure it out first, so that she can lead the way. Our Emerald in the Rough is bound to become her team's Geenie:
She starts as an abused child, who is turned into a slave through trickery. However, she manages to free herself and will soon reveal her true power and potential. In this way, she will succeed at helping her loved ones by showing them what they truly want/need. She will force them to see the truth about themselves, so that they can overcome their illusions and pursue their real wishes.
