Okay, so a lot of these sound super interesting. But lets go with The Tournament. Because #vibes

Aah, The Tournament!! The way I want to finish this story!! Alas, it seems like I've drifted from my previous shenanigans-filled fics into angstier territory. I blame all of you!

The Tournament is my May 2022 @jilychallenge story, based on this prompt:

I have half of a treasure map and I’m certain I can follow it to the end, except you have the other half and I GUESS we just have to work together.

“Yes!” James’s eyes flashed, and his trademark smirk appeared again – honestly, the time he had remained serious and skeptical must have broken some kind of personal record. “I knew I wanted you as my partner.” Lily raised an eyebrow at him, even as a smile escaped her. “Wanted?” The smirk widened to a grin. “Indeed. The moment you were announced I was hoping my name would be next.” “Over Black?” His eyes narrowed with the hint of a wink. “Sirius is smart, but we think too much alike. What I need is a partner who can complement me.” Lily gave a small, approving nod. “Well, you’re nothing if not a tactician.” “Of course I’m a tactician,” he said cockily. “I’m not Quidditch captain for nothing.” “You just got named Quidditch captain this year. You haven’t played a single match yet.” “Doesn’t matter. I’m the best player and tactician and that’s why I got the position.” The air was so insufferably thick with his smugness, Lily felt almost incapacitated. “And you know what I’m going to do right now like the good tactician that I am?” “What?” she challenged. “Stop the bickering and get on with the quest.”

I've posted some stuff about The Tournament over the years! It's a sixth-year Jily story based on this prompt:

I have half of a treasure map and I’m certain I can follow it to the end, except you have the other half and I GUESS we just have to work together.

This is the first installment, these are other snippets I've posted in the past, and here's a fresh one for you - theoretically, the beginning of chapter 2:

Since the weekend of the tournament, James had stopped calling Lily ‘Evans’ or even ‘Lily’. Now, he was calling her ‘partner’. “Good morning, partner,” he would say, taking a seat across from her at the breakfast table, the trademark smirk on his lips and his eyes twinkling with mischief. “‘Morning, James,” she would reply, unwittingly mirroring his expression. They did not partner at anything else; they didn’t share a desk during class or do homework together. They didn’t even talk that much, their interactions limited to greetings and casual ‘how was class’ or ‘how was practice’s. And yet, there seemed to be a newfound bond linking them, a mutual acknowledgement expressed through looks and smiles that hadn’t been there before, and had no reason to be there now, but nevertheless were.
