The Doctor talking about the Cybermats having a complete mental breakdown, Jamie going oooo, and the Doctor apologizing to Jamie is hilarious. Like sorry Jamie I know this has happened to you and Ben and Polly a few times now.

this scene is so sweet, i'm glad it still exists <3
[video description/transcript: a clip from the Doctor Who serial The Tomb of the Cybermen. The Doctor, lying next to a console, wakes up and yawns, startling Victoria, who points a gun at him before she realizes it's the Doctor.
Victoria: Oh!
The Doctor raises his hands.
The Doctor: I'm on your side, remember? Hey, why didn't you wake me? I should have been on watch half an hour ago.
Victoria: I thought you should rest.
The Doctor: Why me?
Victoria: No reason really.
The Doctor: Oh, I think I know.. Was it because I'mโ€ฆ?
Victoria: Well, if you are 450 years old, you need a great deal of sleep.
The Doctor sits next to Victoria. The rest of the scene cuts between close-ups of their faces and a shot of both of them sitting.
The Doctor: Well, that's very considerate of you, Victoria, but, between you and me,. I'm really quite lively actually - all things being considered. Are you happy with us, Victoria?
Victoria: Yes, I am. At least, I would be if my father were here.
The Doctor: Yes, I know.
Victoria: I wonder what he'd think if he could see me now.
The Doctor: You miss him very much, don't you?
Victoria: It's only when I close my eyes. I can still see him standing there. Before those horrible, Dalek creatures came to the house. He was a very kind man. I shall never forget him. Never.
The Doctor: No, of course you won't. But, you know, the memory of him won't always be a sad one.
Victoria: I think it will. You can't understand, being so ancient.
The Doctor: Eh?
Victoria: I mean old. You probably can't remember your family.
The Doctor: Oh, yes, I can when I want to. That's the point. I have to really want to bring them back in front of my eyes. The rest of the time they sleep in my mind and I forget. And so will you. Oh, yes, you will. You'll find there's so much else to think about, to remember. Our lives are different to anybody else's. That's the exciting thing. There's nobody in the universe can do what we're doing. You must get some sleep, and let this poor old man stay awake. /end video description]

The Tomb of the Cybermen The TARDIS arrives on the planet Telos, where an Earth archaeological expedition led by Professor Parry is trying to uncover the lost tombs of the Cybermen. With a lot of help from the Doctor, the archaeologists enter the tombs. There, one of the party, Klieg, reveals himself and his business partner, Kaftan, to be planning to revive the Cybermen.
He wants to use their strength, allied with the intelligence of his own Brotherhood of Logicians, to create an invincible force for conquest. It transpires, however, that the tomb is actually a giant trap designed to lure humans suitable for conversion into Cybermen โ€” a fate that almost befalls Kaftan's assistant Toberman.
After fending off an attack by Cybermats โ€” small but dangerous cybernetic creatures โ€” the Doctor destroys the Controller, defeats the revived Cybermen and reseals the tombs.
The Doctor's Daughter Just after finally defeating the Sontarans on modern-day Earth, the Doctor's TARDIS takes the Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble and Martha Jones on an unexpected trip to the barren planet Messaline. Arriving right in the middle of a war between humans and Hath, the Doctor meets someone he thought he never would: his daughter. Can the Doctor accept this clone as his offspring, and can he stop the war before it all ends in massacre on both sides?

Season 5
The Tomb of the Cybermen
Now joined by Victoria, the Doctor and Jamie join an archaeological expedition into the Cybermen's stasis chambers on Telos. The expedition's financiers actually want the Silver Giants' power to increase their influence back home, but Cybermen don't share...
Oh, Tomb of the Cybermen, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... This was the second Patrick Troughton story I saw in full (no need for iPlayer here, I went for my own DVD collection), and it's terrific. The Cybermen are huge again - a facet of them I felt was missing from The Moonbase - we get our first appearances of Cybermats and a Cyber Controller, further looks into the lore of the Cybermen and a beautiful look into the Doctor's own cryptic history as he shares a tender moment with Victoria on the subject of family, and the best use of the Cybermen's theme music so far as they emerge from their tombs. It's a fairly short one at 4 episodes but rattles along at a hell of a pace.
Is it perfect? No, of course not. Some acting is particularly hammy, especially Captain Hopper (a proto-Jack Harkness wannabe space hero) and our villains Kaftan and Klieg who speak in sinister European accents of indeterminate origin, the character of Toberman could be seen as racially insensitive now as another dumb muscleman of colour - though not nearly as bad as Kemel's portrayal - and the Cybermen's tomb looks to be made of cardboard and clingfilm.
But you know what? I can let it all go. It's great stuff all round. One of my favourite Classic Who stories. Please, PLEASE, do not miss out on this one.
The Abominable Snowmen is missing from the iPlayer in animated form for now, and I don't feel like going shopping. So next time: The Ice Warriors!
