Here is my full piece for Swim On 10: Blue Planet! I thought for the biggest issue I should do the smallest shark ever: the dwarf lantern shark.

It's been a lot of fun tackling sharks in new and interesting ways these past 3 years, and all the accolades to Jey Pawlik for running this anthology for the last decade.

The Summer Games are here, so let’s meet the gold medal champion for fastest shark in the sea: the shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus)! This agile predator fish is one of the world’s fastest swimmers, able to reach a top speed of over 40 mph (64.3 kmh). For perspective, the current 100m freestyle world record holder swam at an overall speed of 4.7 mph (2.9 km/h). A model of this shark can be found in the Museum's Hall of Biodiversity.

Ornate Wobbegong

The ornate wobbegong is a kind of carpet shark that can be found off the east coast of Australia. They are nocturnal, and feed on crustaceans, fish and octopuses. They mostly hunt by ambushing their prey.
