Inspiration for The Sea Whisperer
Tumblr media
It has been a long-time wish of mine to write about the sea. I wanted to create a story that was personal, with characters who are close to my heart and who I hoped would resonate with others the same strong way they do with me. And so came the idea for The Sea Whisperer.
I want to start by telling you a little something about my ideas for the settings in the story.
I was born in an Eastern European coastal town on the Black Sea, and wandering the beaches barefoot and climbing rocks long after sunset is not unfamiliar to me. Surely, no man who has ever seen and felt the fearsome might and vast beauty of the sea can ever love any other natural phenomenon as much.
At least that was the case with me, ever since I was a child. The taste of the sea was constantly on my tongue, the stone-cracking zenith heat of the sun on my skin, and the briny scent of dried seaweed in my nostrils. (And yes, roasted mussels are not just my main character’s favorite, they’re also my favorite.) But it was not just during the summer. I was on those shores every season.
The Black Sea was called that because metal objects from ships, dead plants, and animal matter that sunk deeper than 150 meters for a long time became covered with black sludge due to the high concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the sea. Or they called it that because of the severe black-clouded storms that occur there. Either way, the name has an ominous sound. It didn't stop me from loving it, though.
I was blessed once, for having been so close to the sea in my childhood and then second time, when in 2019 I was accepted at a university in another coastal town, in the far windswept northeastern UK, and thus never had to part with the sea.
And oh, the North Sea is so fierce and dark that they had to build solid seawall defenses to contain it and prevent it from devouring the entire coastline of the town. Even so, the rumbling waves utterly destroyed half of the wooden groynes last winter, and the wind whispered and howled for days.
No wonder the Danes called this sea The Old Gray Widow-Maker.
Here's a short video of mine to show you what a majestic thing it is.

Cases of Skin Rash are increasing everyday because of bacterial , fungal or viral infections , on the other sides alot of insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and flies, which act as vectors. What we are witnessing in shelter centers and displacement camps from the accumulation of stagnant water and inadequate management of waste and sanitation provides a fertile ground for disease vectors. Every day we see in our Medical point about 50 cases of multi-cause rash. 😥💔
Save our children from this war. Link for donation 👇🔗🍉
Verified by Operation Olive Branch line 395 master line
We still very far from the goal. I hope everyone will donate even a little. I am confident that you will stand with me and support me until I reach my goal and remove my family from the danger of war. Share my story. Pin my story to your page. Everything helps.

CRITICAL EMERGENCY!!! 15 y/o girl needs heart surgery!!!!
Earlier this month, we made a post asking for your support in attaining 15 year-old Nour’s monthly treatment for her congenital heart condition. Unfortunately, the funds raised came too late. Nour’s health took a dramatic downturn yesterday, and the doctor said that because she had gone so long between monthly treatments, several of Nour’s heart valves have closed up. She now requires an urgent operation to save her heart.
NOUR WILL DIE WITHOUT THIS SURGERY!! She is dying right now because her heart is struggling to function! She needs this surgery IMMEDIATELY to save her young life!!
Tumblr media
The doctor said the surgery will cost $8000 USD. Nour’s family’s GFM is in Canadian dollars, or CAD, of which the conversion rate to USD is $1 USD=$1.41 CAD. This means we need $11,300 CAD in donations in order to pay the equivalent of $8000 USD for her surgery.
We NEED to raise the funds ASAP so Nour has a chance at survival!! We are breaking this sum up into 2 smaller goals to be more attainable. Our first goal to save Nour’s life is to raise $4000 USD/$5656 CAD.
**Progress: $43,187 CAD out of $49,000 CAD**
(or $30,554 USD out of $34,670 USD)
PLEASE HELP SAVE NOUR’S LIFE!!!

I love when the sea is like this.
It's also making me want to write a full devotional book to Rán and/or Ægir as well as the Nine Waves

More inspiration for The Sea Whisperer
Tumblr media
Everything around me is history here. Below my apartment is a 220-year-old pub whose regular customers sometimes sing drunken songs, but I don’t usually mind. The singing is as much part of the town as are the old buildings and cobblestone streets. None of it helps ground you much in reality, really.
I am well aware there is something peculiarly timeless in the landscapes and coasts of Scotland, and everyone who has laid eyes on this country can feel that this ethereal quality has permeated everything. But here on the peninsula, with the coasts littered with fishing towns, pretty harbors, and low cottages, it’s almost as if the Age of Sail never ended.
It is a daily tradition of mine to leave the apartment, cross the harbor, pass by the Old Roundhouse, and walk the beach alley, each day in contemplation of a different painting of waves, sea-line, and sky. While the scenery is rarely boring, there is one thing that remains always the same: the lighthouses. Lighthouses are structures of wonder and have enough philosophical charge for me to build an entire novel around them. It’s always delightful to hear their eerie fog calls on cold rainy days.
Scottish people have a specific word for this miserable, wind-filled, misty weather: dreich. And you slowly learn to appreciate dreich weather. When I first came to Scotland, I wasn’t very fond of soaking and changing shoes and socks all the time, but now I don’t mind that too. I go out for a walk in any weather. It’s the closest I would ever feel to what the lives of mariners crossing the dreaded North Sea were, casting lines and folding sails in those stormy waters and under those sullen skies.
Inspiration did not just find me in this place, it ran up to me and begged me to write.

Heartbreaking news out of north Gaza today
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We write to inform you that renowned journalist Ismail Al-Ghoul and cameraman Ramy El-Rifi of Al-Jazeera were murdered just a few hours ago by the occupation. They were going out to document the scene of another bombing attack, when they were deliberately targeted by the occupation. Footage provided by journalist Osama Al-Ashi in the immediate aftermath of the attack shows that Ismail and Ramy were murdered with targeted precision weaponry, meaning the occupation watched them, waited for them, and executed them in cold blood (warning: graphic footage).
Ismail and Ramy have been documenting the genocide at immense personal cost since the 7th of October 2023. They were previously kidnapped and tortured by the occupation, but survived and continued to remain in north Gaza and document crimes against humanity. They have had many narrow escapes, and today, the occupation was finally successful in its illegal goal of assassinating these prominent journalists.
When western journalists hand-wave their suppression of the IOF’s atrocities in Gaza by claiming no journalists are “allowed” in to report, remember these men. Remind them of these men. These men who lost friends and loved ones, who suffered immensely, and yet chose to remain and continue documenting the genocide against their people. They join the ranks of more than 150 Gazan journalists who were murdered by the occupation to hide its crimes and retaliate for speaking the truth.
حسبنا الله و نعم الوكيل
أنا لله و أنا اليه رجعون
God suffices us and he is the best disposer of affairs. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
Keep fighting for Gaza. Don’t stop talking about north Gaza.
