My Heart Is a Haunted House
𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘱𝘴𝘦𝘴, 𝘗𝘢𝘺𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 + 𝘗𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘪, 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘛
@dbdpromptober Day 3: Eternity (words: 1211)
Charles’ home was haunted.
The lights of his room would flicker at the strangest of times, he heard footsteps following him, shadows in the mirrors. When he’d left the gas stove on, the cabinet door above it slammed, getting his attention.
He’d asked Maa what she thought about it, receiving a puzzled look back. Maybe it was only Charles that was haunted.
He was more than excited about it. The empty rooms didn’t feel as desolate anymore when he had company. The ghosts hadn’t harmed him in any way, instead he’d been alerted to the unattended stove. It was like they were looking out for him.
Any time he was alone at home, he listened for the sound of the piano. So far that hadn’t happened again, so Charles opted on playing his few cassettes back to back, filling the silence.
By now he’d mastered both sliding down the handrail of the master staircase and playing hockey on the smooth marble floor with a cricket bat and a ball. But Charles’ favorite activity was exploring the house.
He felt himself a proper detective, inspecting floorboards and built-in bookshelves for hidden safes. It was a Victorian mansion, there had to be a few secrets buried inside the walls.
There were footsteps above him. Quiet, but intent. Charles knew for a fact that nobody was home except him. He sprinted towards the source of the sound, finding an attic ladder with a rope for pulling it down.
Someone was standing right above him. The small click of hard shoes sounded intentional, like someone was tapping his foot impatiently, saying come on now, don’t make me wait.
In the layer of dust that covered everything were footprints. Charles tried not to move too fast and kick up more dust than he wanted to breathe in when he followed them.
There was a desk with a chair by the window, bathed in the afternoon sun. Charles imagined the ghost had been sitting there, looking at the view towards the yard. Across it, a path went through the gate and over a river into the tall forest.
The footprints stopped in front of a wooden chest, which blue paint the years had almost completely washed out. Charles cranked it open to find a set of gentleman’s winter attire (a vest, a coat and a pair of gloves), and other clothes, all destroyed by moths.
The only thing left was a black-and white photograph of a wide-eyed boy in a dark suit. His lips were pursed tight, his eyes serious. Charles was drawn to him, tracing his pale cheekbones with his gaze, wondering why, despite his neutral face, his eyes betrayed a profound sadness.
At the back of the paper, only numbers were jotted down with a quivering handwriting.
1900-1918
“Is this what you wanted me to find?” Charles asked, flinching at his own voice echoing from bare walls.
Is this you?
Nobody answered. It was expected, but Charles was disappointed nevertheless. He kneeled on the dusty floor, leaning on the open chest, just staring at the photo.
Were you alone too? Were you lonely?
He slipped the photo in the inside pocket of his Harrington jacket, close to his heart.
Other days, he couldn’t muster up the curiosity anymore. Coming back to the dark house after visiting Niko’s grave pulled him down into a glum mood.
Their crammed London apartment had never let him relax, but the oppressive silence of spacious halls felt uncomfortable in a different way. Charles trudged the stairs up into his room and dropped his backpack to the floor before faceplanting onto the bed.
He wished he had somewhere to be or someone waiting for him. He wondered what “home” was supposed to feel like. Probably not like this.
He lay motionless for some time. Just when he groaned, attempting to pull himself together, the first notes of a melody floated down the hall.
Charles jumped up, holding his breath. The piano was playing again. A different tune, too.
He rushed out and to the stairs. The music had been slow and unsure at first, like the player was testing out the right keys, but it gained more confidence when it went on. Charles wondered why it sounded so familiar.
“No way, mate!” He grinned when he recognized the tune. He skipped down, two steps at a time. “No way! You liked it that much?”
The song the ghost was playing was unmistakably Under the Milky Way from the best The Church cassette Charles had played over and over again the last few weeks. It flowed from the piano with a slower tempo than the original, but Charles hummed along anyway.
He sat down on the duet bench, staring at the unmoving keys covered in dust. Then he turned around, gazing at the ceiling, just enjoying the music. He hoped he could tell what the ghost looked like. He wanted to know who was playing for him.
“I wish I knew what you were loo-king for… Might have known what you would find…”
The piano played for a few minutes, until both the verse and the chorus had been heard a couple of times, with Charles just sitting there, a content smile on his face. When the music finally faded, a slightly awkward silence fell in the foyer.
Charles was pulled out of his thoughts. He sprung to his feet, full of excitement again.
“Trust me mate, if you like that tape, I know one you’ll love!” He hyped. “Just a tick!”
He ran upstairs and grabbed his recorder, cradling it in his arms like his most precious treasure that it was, stuffed the tape in his pocket and jogged back.
He put the recorder on top of the piano and fiddled with it, his hands swift like every second without music was unbearable. He glanced around wanting to make sure his companion hadn’t left yet, which was useless as he couldn’t see him. With a clack he encased the B-side of Songs From the Big Chair and pressed record.
The sweet sound of synthesizer transformed the room instantly, flowing like waves over everything. It filled Charles’ chest with joy and the beat tugged his limbs into motion.
If he closed his eyes, he could see the bright colors and shapes the music took, pulling him from the bleak present into space without time, without worry or pain.
He opened his eyes, dancing in the middle of the empty house, but he wasn’t lonely. Maybe the ghost was the family’s son who’d died young. Young people liked good music, didn’t they? If he was here now, Charles was sure he could turn that sad frown into a smile.
He’d take his hand and pull him to dance with him. The heir had been a proper fit lad in the picture, handsome in that old-timey way, like he was a classical painting. Charles knew he could be wrong, but at that moment, it really felt like he was here, that they were dancing together.
As long as the music flowed, breathing was easy, movement was light, and nothing hurt. That moment only was worth all of eternity.
“Something happens and I’m head over heels
I never find out ‘till I’m head over heels…”

Blue Lock Halloweek 2023 Prompts are here—can’t wait to see what y’all create!
👻 Reblog with your favorites prompts & share with your Blue Lock crew!
👻 Find the event on Twitter @/BllkHalloweek
👻 See below for more info, typed-out prompts, & prompt examples if you need clarification or inspiration
👻 Feel free to mix and match, and take prompts as literally or as tangentially as you want!
👻 Work doesn’t have to be specifically Fall / Halloween themed as long as it fits a prompt. (If you’re writing a superhero fic for “Mask,” don’t feel like you have to stick a 🎃 in a corner unless you want to.)
👻 Work can be as lighthearted, scary, or spicy as you want as long as you follow the updated guidelines!
👻 Thank you to everyone who submitted prompts, & credit to the anons who suggested The Witching Hour & Mischief Night! A lot of suggestions were already on my longer list or were very similar, or might be better saved for next year. If your favorite isn't on the list, the “Free Prompt” finale is your day!
👻 Find event Archive of Our Own here!
👻 The event is on Tumblr, Twitter, and AO3, so share your contribution on all three!

Now for Prompt Examples + Explanations
I’ve had people ask for prompt examples in past events I’ve hosted and this event is open to any language, so here you go! These are the quick brainstorming notes (now expanded with links & definitions) I took while narrowing down the list to be sure the final prompts were unique enough / without toooo much overlap, and covered enough areas. Only some of maaaany interpretations—go wild!
Your host is a fic-writer with ADHD, so…you’ve been warned.
Day 1:
Pumpkin Spice: Cozy Autumn vibes. Putting up Halloween decorations, carving Jack-o-lanterns, coffee / tea shop, pumpkin patch, scented candles, baking, fall sangria, sweaters and beanies and flannels, momijigari (Autumn Hanami 🌸, basically) / admiring gorgeous fall foliage, fresh hot apple cider in an orchard. Itoshi Bros and their love of turtle/mock-neck sweaters. Pumpkin Farmer Aiku and Karasu scarecrow!
Do you believe in magic?: Revealing their magical powers for the first time. Crystal ball, tarot. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. AU. Non-literal magic in relationships (feeling understood, chemistry, humor matching up perfectly, etc). Wands, spells, magical objects, magical creatures, etc.. Making a wish. Alexis "The Magician" Ness.
-
Day 2:
Masks: Costumes, super heroes, putting up a front, acting like something you’re not, classic masked Halloween meet-cute, secret / concealed identities, spies, ninja and samurai and assassins (Karasu and Otoyaaa!) Niko hiding his eyes / face.
Heartbeat: Racing heart from excitement, fright, romance, spice. No heartbeat like undead, zombie or vampire, etc.. Skip a beat, beat faster, beat slower (calm and comfort). Chigiri on the run from zombies, zombie Lorenzo!
-
Day 3:
Things that go bump in the night: unexplained (scary or otherwise) noises in the night, whispers or voices, ghosts and other supernatural entities, haunted house / place, anything scary, …spicy. Spooky Owl outside Rin’s window.
Festival: String lights illuminating festival stalls, costumes, traditional attire (Aryu looking stylish!), food and drink, games, Isagi devouring fried fair food. Fall Music festival. Mid-Autumn Festival (with all the pretty lanterns and mooncakes 🥮), Harvest / Fall Fests in general. Bobbing for apples, caramel / candy apples, carnival rides and games, Ferris wheel. Oktoberfest; Kaiser and/or any Bastard München player in Lederhosen—please, I’m begging!! Fun house / haunted house. Day of the Dead festivities.
-
Day 4:
Firelight: Cauldrons, brewing potions. Candles, rituals, bonfires. Autumn camping trip, s’mores, spooky firelight shadows outside the tent, got lost on a hiking trip & have to make a fire to keep warm! Torches, candles, lanterns lighting the way in a definitely not-haunted place. Hell, your favorite circle (Dante’s Inferno) 😈
Dark Waters: merpeople, sirens, sea monsters, kraken, pirates (Kurona and Raichi, Bachira 🐬!), sharks, shipwreck, ghost ships, stranded on a deserted island, haunted lakes, lake spirits, Autumn fishing trip, swamp monsters, bogs and marshes, willowisps, alligators, snakes. Loch Ness Monster
(Fire and water, light and dark)
-
Day 5:
Paranoia: Fear and suspicion, feeling like someone’s watching and you just can’t shake it (...Ego and his cameras), feeling like you’re losing your mind, etc.. Doesn’t have to be all bad! Maybe there was a misunderstanding before a fun surprise.
The Witching hour: Wiki / dictionary. Depending on whom you ask, the hour is either midnight or 3am - 4am. Supernatural entities / practitioners of dark arts are the most active and powerful. These entities might feel compelled / drawn out into the world. Magic and danger, inexplicable happenings! Humans ought to be at home and safely tucked in bed at this late hour, or else... Fun fact, the Orionid meteor shower peaks juuust before this event starts (in my hemisphere, at least) but continue until November, and the best time to view meteor showers is generally around the witching hour (after midnight / 3-4am). Can also mean the time in which people get up to no good or questionable stuff.
-
Day 6:
Monster’s Ball: Monsters, creatures. Bachiraaa. Halloween party, masquerade, nightlife (going out in costume—or not—to bars and clubs). Reo buying a round. Literal ⚽ ball (Lil Isagi trick-or-treating in Noa’s kit), Halloween Practice (like in high school or college when your coach let you have a fun practice in costume before a holiday—absolute chaos and so fun!). Whatever chaos and debauchery y’all can imagine. Just follow the event guidelines and tag accordingly! Green eyed monster (jealousy), Cinderella’s Ball (Sae and Shidou!)
Hunter’s Moon: The date of the actual full Hunter’s Moon—lucky us! Sometimes called the Blood Moon. Full moon, werewolves, moonlight, on the hunt or being hunted, spells and rituals, Tsukimi / moon viewing + Tsukimi dango 🎑, moon myths and gods. Celestial things, Kurona and Isagi planetary hotline / astronauts, aliens.
(Monster vs Hunter day, ha)
-
Day 7:
Angels and Demons: Demon and priest, hell, listening to the angel or the devil on your shoulder (making a questionable decision because it’s tempting), devilish fun or spells, sin, temptation, a deal with the devil. Ohhh, Sae and Shidou, your night has come! 😈
Castle: fairytales, knights, vampires, dungeons, Royalty (King Barou, Emperor Kaiser!). Also super Sae and Shidou.
-
Day 8:
Spirit: ghosts, haunted houses, GhostBusters, spirit entities like yokai, Ghost Adventures. Gagamaru as a friendly Yokai! Shaman. Possession, possessed or cursed objects. JJK. Ouija board game! Monk Igaguri.
Movie Night: Watching a scary (or not scary) movie, series, anime, etc. So many movie/show Alternate Universes. Sendou living his Hollywood dreams. Barbie please!!! Nagi nodding off halfway through. The guys as a character from their favorite movie listed in the Egoist Bible.
Mischief Night: Wiki page. The night before Halloween for hijinks, pranks, scaring each other! Toilet papering Ego’s house. Can be more sinister, too.
-
Day 9: Halloween!
Sweet tooth / sucker: Trick-or-Treating, candy corn, so much candy, caramel corn, vampires or anything with fangs, bite, ‘sucker’ like 🍭 or vampires, or…
Free day / AU (alternate universe) Palooza!:
Whatever Halloween stuff you want that doesn’t quite fit a prompt! Just listing some of the things I would draw (if I could) or write (if i had time):
Video game au for Hiori! Pokemon! Ego as a gangly cowboy, ⚽️ bolo tie and all. Barou as the "Cowardly" Lion in the Wizard of Oz. And finally, artists, if you're reading this, please, please consider Noel Noa (of the 🇫🇷 French National 🥖 Team!!) dressed as Bonjour Man from Life Lessons with Uramichi Onii-san (clip, manga cap). Please Omg. This image has literally been haunting me since starting this event and the manga/anime (even the dub!) is soooo funny. And technically, Bonjour Man is a cursed spirit sooo 👻
Okay, that's it. Hope y'all have fun. Please reblog and spread the word 🧡🖤

Chowder Halloween Headcanons 🎃 💜 🎃 💜
💜 Original headcanons 🎃
🍬 Ao3 version 👻
Chowder:
• Chowder LOVES HALLOWEEN! 🎃 💜 It’s his second favorite holiday. (His first favorite is Thanksgiving 🦃 🥔 🌽 🧅 🍠 🥧.)
• He wears a pumpkin costume!
• Mung forces Shnitzel to take him trick or treating.
• Whenever someone is serving candy at their door, Chowder would not only consume all the candy but also the bowl itself.
• Every year, the purple bunny would eat so much candy that he would grow all big and round like a ball, and Schnitzel would always have to be the one to roll him back to the kitchen.
Mung Daal:
• Mung loves entering the gang and himself in costume contests. (He remembers last Halloween where they went dressed as The Addams Family. Mung was Gomez, Truffles was Morticia, Schnitzel was Wednesday, Chowder was Pugsley, and somehow Kimchi was Uncle Fester.)
• He loves cooking up Halloween-themed dishes.
• He'll hardcore flirt with women in revealing outfits.
• THE KING OF THE THRILLER DANCE!
• Every year, he’d come up with a creative plan to mess up Endive’s kitchen. (He either teepees the place or covers it in silly string or eggs.)
Shnitzel:
• Shnitzel is the type of rock person who believes that you’re never too old for Halloween.
• His favorite Halloween jams are "The Monster Mash", "The Original Ghostbusters Theme", and "I Put A Spell On You" from Hocus Pocus.
• He DOES NOT like haunted houses! THEY’RE HAUNTED!
• He likes telling ghost stories, that is, until a real ghost shows up, then he gets scared, screams like a girl, and passes out.
• He likes lifting up heavy pumpkins and carving them.
Truffles:
• MAMA LOVES HALLOWEEN! (Even more than Chowder does.)
• Likes to get Halloween-themed nail designs on her nails.
• The ghosts and ghouls of the night are scared of her.
• She's on candy duty at the door.
• Once the trick-or-treaters are gone for the night, she will eat the rest of the candy in a secret room and hiss at anyone who comes near. Truffles does NOT like to share.

Haunted Mansion’s Biggest Issue (to me)
I was very excited to finally see Haunted Mansion this year. I had given up hope on ever seeing this new adaption in the 13 years since Guillermo Del Toro announced it with barely any news in between.
And I did very much enjoy it, it’s at least better than the 2003 film, which is all I wanted it to be.
However, there is one thing that stopped me from loving this movie, and that’s how they handled my favorite happy haunt, the Hatbox Ghost.
Now, design wise, he looks great. He’s intimidating, he’s creepy, all around they nailed it. Not thrilled that he’s played by Jared Leto, but thankfully he’s barely noticeable.
Where my issue begins is when they learn the Hatbox Ghost’s living name, Alistair Crump.
I’m not opposed with giving Hattie an actual name, mind you, and I do appreciate the nod to original Haunted Mansion Imagineer, Rolly Crump (though it’s kinda backhanded to name the villain of the movie after him). But from the moment they learn his name, he stops being the Hatbox Ghost and becomes Alistair Crump. Let me explain what I mean.
Alistair Crump was the child of a wealthy family. He was kicked out of his home by his father after crying too hard at his mother’s funeral. Cut off from his family, Crump had to climb his way back up from nothing. Meanwhile, he studied the dark arts. After his father died under mysterious circumstances, Crump gained control over his family estate. He’d throw lavish parties, inviting the people who turned his father against him. At these parties, he would murder the people he believed played a part in his father’s abandonment of him. Crump would bury the bodies under the house. This continued until his staff discovered his secret and turned against him, decapitating him and burying his remains in the same place he disposed of his victims.
Did you notice something was missing in this story?
Something very important to the Hatbox Ghost?
Like…a hatbox?
Yea, there’s no mention of a hatbox in his backstory.
This issue becomes even more glaring when the protagonists need to find an item that belonged to him in order to banish him.
You’re probably thinking it’s a hatbox, right?
No, it’s his top hat.
The top hat that’s still on his decapitated head.
Oh, is his head inside a hatbox?
No, it’s in the dirt under his old mansion.
Most of the time, ghosts are depicted with items important to them in life. Constance Hatchaway has her pearls and her hatchet, Madame Leota manifests in her crystal ball. And it’s not just the Haunted Mansion that does this, look at Thirteen Ghosts from 2001.
Each ghost has an in-depth backstory that can be found on the DVD’s bonus features, and each backstory explains how they died and why they were selected to fill a specific role in the Black Zodiac. They look the way they do because it reflects their past lives and their deaths.
So why does Alistair Crump carry a hatbox as a ghost if he had no ties to it in life?
This issue drives me nuts because it easily could’ve been fixed. Maybe when Alistair was kicked out of the house, he was only given a hatbox to carry what little he could, or maybe his staff hid his head inside a hatbox.
Crump only has the hatbox so he can do the gag with his head. That’s it. His titular hatbox holds no importance to him. He easily could’ve been swapped with any other ghost in the Mansion and nothing would feel out of place.
The hatbox is so unimportant to Crump that towards the end of the movie, he doesn’t even have it anymore. After we learn his backstory, he’s never seen with the hatbox again.
Even this new Funko Pop figure doesn’t have his hatbox but then labels him, “Hatbox Ghost.”
To me, Alistair Crump and the Hatbox Ghost are two different characters. Crump may look like Hattie, but he is not the Hatbox Ghost. Which is the biggest disappointment of this film to me.
Hattie is such a fascinating and mysterious character in the mansion. He has a backstory that’s never really explored. His role varies from story to story. Why is he in the attic with Constance? Was he one of Constance’s grooms? Why does he have that hatbox? Why did he disappear for so long in the context of the Mansion’s story? Where did he go and why did he come back? Was he a victim? A coconspirator that got betrayed? There were so many ways they could’ve taken his story and they picked probably the weakest one.
It does make me wonder what Guillermo Del Toro’s original vision for Hattie was. But alas, we may never know.
Maybe in another 20 years we’ll get a different take on the Mansion and Hattie.

The Haunted Mansion (2003) - Edward/Elizabeth/Sara
I had a thought or an alternative to The Haunted Mansion 2003 movie.
What if instead of making Sara Elizabeth's doppelganger, they made her a descendant of Edward and Elizabeth.
Edward and Elizabeth could have gotten married in secret. The two servants, Ezra and Emma, are happy for them but Ramsley is still opposed to their union. Elizabeth becomes pregnant. Ramsley tells her that the child and their union would never be accepted by society, thinly veiling a threat against her and her child. Elizabeth leaves in secret with the help of Emma and Ezra but she leaves a letter for Edward. Edward discovers she's gone but is unaware of her pregnancy. He takes his own life or dies from heartbreak, thus beginning the curse that plagues Gracey Manor. It would only be broken when Elizabeth returns.
Elizabeth gives birth to her child who has children and grandchildren which leads to Sara being born. Sara grows up and marries Jim and they have Megan and Michael. Sara is called back to Gracey Manor when their real estate flyer gets noticed by the ghosts. They go to the mansion and go through their ordeal. Everyone finds out that she is not Elizabeth but Elizabeth's and Edward's descendant (which would explain the resemblance). Elizabeth, in her spirit ball form, comes back to Gracey Manor to aid her family and reunite with Edward at last. Edward gives the Evers the deed to the house as they are his heirs. Edward, Elizabeth and the rest of the souls go in peace to Heaven.
I saw this movie 20 years ago and it's still one of my favorites. I just thought of this scenario this morning as pretty much all the answers to the problem were in the house for over a century (Elizabeth as a ghost ball, the hidden letter, hell, her would've-been wedding dress, etc.). Also, one of my other favorites is The Haunting 1999 movie (it's a bad-good film) and something similar happens in that adaption.
The scenario could also work because of the library scene between Edward and Sara when she asks him why he would sell it as the house was in his family for generations (not knowing he was a ghost).
And while I loved Marsha Thomason in this, she was too young to be playing wife and mother to Eddie Murphy and his children. She was 25 to 26 when they filmed the movie and 27 when it was released. He was in his early fourties. I was 13 when I saw this movie. 20 years later, I'm like
The wonderful world of acting.

My OCs as Flatmates, Part 1
Includes: Chandrah/Charlie, Raevyn, Sherry
A bit ago, I asked you guys about who you'd like to see for this topic (and I'm still asking, by the way, hop into the replies and tell me who you'd like to see) and both @fluffle-system and @daughter-of-melpomene said...
↬ Chandrah !
Oh boy! You've invited a demon to your house, congratulations!
Charlie, I feel like, would be a fun roommate. I assume this is after GB II, so he'd already relatively well adjusted, but they're still... not human.
Like, my boy™ barely sleeps at all. This means that, yes, you can come to them at any time of day or night and be relatively sure that he's awake. And even if he isn't, they're not that hard to wake up and they don't get grumpy if you do wake him up. However, it also means that he might be noisy at night. Not even intentionally. But if your flat has thin walls, you'll hear them rummaging around the kitchen or taking a shower in the middle of the night. You might also be faced with some confusing situation at times because he hasn't master all situations of human behaviour yet. Also, they eat the weirdest things sometimes.
Aside from that though, he 100% has your back, no matter what happens. They're loyal as ever. Whatever you need, he's got you. Need help moving in? Charlie is strong as balls, he'll carry your stuff. Shitty ex? How do you want to give the bastard payback - are we thinking of a fake dating scenario, do you just want someone to come with you somewhere just in case, do you want them beaten up, humiliated...? Charlie will probably also curse and/or haunt the ex, let's be honest.
Also, he's a literal (former) Ghostbuster. If you get a nightmare or think you're cursed or haunted or something, he'll take you seriously. Or any irrational fear, really, because they've seen a lot of things and are willing to believe a lot of things. Charlie will probably go through the routine Ghostbuster questionnaire with you to determine if it's a ghost or not and what kind of ghost and then go from there. They'll cheer you up and make you feel safe before confronting the specter. Even if you accidentally summoned a demon or something, Chandrah is also a demon, it'll deal with it.
Depending on whether you know that Charlie is secretly a demon or not, you might also see them floating around sometimes and he'll use his demonic powers for tasks or to help you. It's normal. They might even show you their demonic form if you ask nicely.
Definitely would want to spend a lot of time with you. He's a bit clingy but understands if you need some space. Would also be fine with just coexisting in the same room as you if you don't have the time or energy to do anything special.
As to how you got into this flatshare situation, I'm pretty sure that Charlie would've put out the ad and it's his house/apartment. Charlie, being a demon and (former) Ghostbuster, is pretty rich and would be able to afford living on their own, but they want a flatmate because they feed off human affection and they get bored when they're alone for too long. He probably didn't put his name in the ad because he is more or less famous and you probably wouldn't figure out it's them until you come over to take a look at the apartment before deciding if you want to move in. But they're super nice and humble about their Ghostbusters experiences and will be really glad to share stories with you. A baseline belief in the paranormal is probably a requirement for living with him though.
Next person! @enterprise-come-in asked for...
↬ Raevyn !
We're assuming a Planetary Union context here and not just Raevyn somehow dropping in on our present day. Probably, you're both studying at Union Point.
One thing that needs to be very clear to you and that she tells you right away is that you will have very little privacy. She can't help it, she's a telepathic species and she's gonna know all of your secrets sooner or later. You can't really keep anything from her.
BUT this also means that she knows exactly what's wrong when you're down and how to help you and you best believe she'll do it. She's there to comfort you, whenever, wherever. Has your routines memorized after a few weeks, knows your comfort foods and shows, adapts to your needs really well.
Generally, Raevyn is really considerate but, like with any flatmate, you'll also have to deal with some nonsense from her. Since this is her Union Point era, she's gonna have quite a few crushes and partners, and you might have to deal with a good bit of relationship drama. Not an obscene amount, but definitely more than average. She also probably forgets to do the dishes every once in a while. Just remind her to do them and it's all good.
Activities! Don't expect to go to the pool or the beach with her, she's still in her phase where she's hiding her aquatic heritage. But aside from that, she's down for pretty much anything. She'd love to learn about your culture and show you hers and meet your friends and have you meet hers and... But she's also down for more relaxing activites like bord games or video games or movies or just talking. Would also be a pretty good study buddy.
Raevyn would be the best person to have as backup if you want to go on a date but you're kinda worried about it and the person seems sketchy. My girl is ready to beat anyone up for you, whether that be verbally or physically. She's also a walking taser, so she could end the conflict before it even started if you don't want a scene. Would also teach you martial arts if you want. Generally, she has a lot of relationship drama herself, so she definitely understands yours. You can gush about your crushes and cry about breakups together.
Also! Raevyn is quite literally the least problematic person when it comes to gender identities and sexuality and whatnot. It's in her culture to know that everyone's mind and feelings work differently and being attracted to different things is normal and gender is an infinite spectrum. The idea that there could be only two sexes and genders and that anything that isn't heterosexuality is a sin or something is completely wild and offensive to her. Personally, she's bisexual and will also 100% go to pride parades and festivals with you, even if she doesn't fully understand the history and mentality behind them. She would also do really well with neurodivergency, disability and other similar things. Do you know that situation where you're really frustrated at people just not understanding that you can't do a thing because you have no spoons left? This will never happen with Raevyn. Because she knows. She understands. She might not be neurodivergent or experience something similar but, because she's a telepath, she understands what you're going through and will adapt accordingly as much as she can.
Last person for this part is...
↬ Sherry !
... because @novemberhope shares a birthday with her!
Oh boy, this is actually gonna be a bit tough to answer, because... well, first of all, this means that you're in the Mario Universe. Funky shenanigans. Maybe you got Mario Movie style isekai-ed into it? (Disclaimer: I haven't actually watched the movie.) Either way, Sherry probably wasn't planning on having a flatmate but would gladly take you in.
The thing is, Sherry is a princess and was raised with the knowledge that she is a princess. But she wasn't raised at the palace, she was raised in some cottage in the middle of nowhere. Generally, living with her would be weird but fun. Because she's very kind and all but she has some quirks. For one, her sister is literally the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom and she's next in line for the throne. But Sherry couldn't care less about royal formalities and whatnot and doesn't really spend time around the palace. Still, you'll notice. If you go anywhere together, the attention will be on her and you'll be overlooked. As such: Don't think about throwing a joined birthday party. You might get an amazing cake from Princess Peach and a whole lot of famous people will be there, but it will no longer be your day. It's about her now.
Also, the whole kidnapping situation? Sherry's sister Peach constantly gets kidnapped by a guy and Sherry somehow works for the guy? Like, she babysits his son or something? Awkward...
What this means though is that, should you ever get in trouble with some evil forces or the King of the Koopas, Sherry has your back. Either she'll solve the issue herself or she'll get the Mario Brothers on the case. No problem.
Anyways, back to everyday situations: I feel like Sherry is a no nonsense sort of person (well, as much as you can be in the Mushroom Kingdom) and probably likes things to be in order, so if you leave your dishes out in the kitchen or whatnot, she won't be happy. But she's also the type who'll say something if she doesn't like something, so you won't get stuck in a silent war or anything. Also, she's not the type to hold grudges. See the "working for the guy who kidnaps her sister" situation. Whatever mistakes you make, she'll forgive you. Also, you'll never have financial troubles! She's a princess, she's rich, and she'll lend you money if you need it.
Whereas her sister likes to bake, Sherry likes to cook. You might cook together a lot if that's a thing you're into, or she'll make you homecooked meals for when you get home or just... whenever. I feel like she'd also be really good at mixing drinks, so great for when you're having parties! She also takes you kart racing, golfing, to football games, tennis, board game nights... whatever you like!
Oh yeah, Sherry also just leaves sometimes to go on an adventure or save or sister or go on vacation or whatnot, so you'll have the house to yourself a lot.
So yeah, that's it for part 1! Please tell me who else you'd like to see! Part 2 will be out soon, maybe there'll be a part 3 if I get enough requests for people, who knows!
