Isagi tilted back his head and his drink. More than the propane flames above, the alcohol warded off the chill of the drink and air, warming his lips and chest. Rin’s assessment was right, it tasted good. Isagi just wanted sweeter.

Isagi set his empty glass on the table, a clink of finality, and returned the lollipop to his mouth. It took a few moments for his palette to appreciate the apple under the residual blackberry tang. It took no time at all for Rin’s eyes to abandon the cityscape.

Good boy, Rin.

Isagi dragged the lollipop down his tongue with a spinning flourish. “You’re staring,” he noted, lips skimming over the candy, eyes on the Tokyo skyline. “You want a taste?”

“Hardly. How many times do I have to tell you I don’t have a sweet tooth?” Isagi could hear the eyeroll.

Isagi turned to face him, took one step into Rin’s space, and popped the candy from his mouth. “We both know I’m talking about more than the sugar.”

“It really wouldn’t be a problem if I came?” Hiori asked uncertainly, and even Rin could catch a slight note of hope in his voice.

“Mother will probably be delighted that I’m finally inviting someone home.” He said dismissively, although for some reason he felt a slight excitement inside. “And the folks aren’t home often anyway. Besides, we can always go somewhere ourselves, after all we have the break.” Although Rin couldn’t see Hiori, he imagined that he was smiling at that moment.

“Why do I get the impression that when ya say goin’ somewhere, ya mean the haunted places, right?” Hiori asked, clearly amused. So he must have been smiling. Rin regretted that he couldn’t see it.

He himself couldn’t help but smile slightly at the words of the boy who could decipher him, which exceptionally didn’t bother him at all. Hiori was definitely his favorite person. Which was quite obvious, because all the other people around Rin were lukewarm idiots.

“Would you be up for something like that?” He asked, with feigned nonchalance.

Or: Rin and Hiori plan to visit a haunted place during their break from Blue Lock.
