Regulus couldn’t believe what his brother had given him. He hadn’t expected anything from him ever. Not even a kind word. But after five years of being apart, his brother accepts him and gives him a home. Regulus wiped away the tears that had spilt from his too-wet eyes. 

The flat was small, but it was far more than he needed. It had a bedroom large enough for a king-sized bed. A small bathroom that had a clawfoot bath of all things crammed into it beside a toilet and sink. A kitchen, big enough for one whole person if they were skinny, and a living room where he could already picture a wall of bookcases. Not that he had many books to fill them with any more. He’d had the foresight to move a few of his belongings to Evan and Barty’s before he came out to his parents. He could have kept it a secret and continued to live under their roof, but he liked James a lot. More than he’d liked anybody, and he wanted to be able to go out with him and not live in fear that his parents or one of their friends would spot them. 

He hadn’t expected to feel so hurt by their rejection though. He’d known it was coming, and braced himself, but it hadn’t been enough. His mother had called him some very colourful names and slapped him across the face before she grabbed him by his shirt and threw him from the house. He’d been terrified in that moment that she would kill him. He’d met James an hour later at Evan and Barty’s and slept curled up next to him, feeling truly happy for the first time in his life. 

He looked down at his watch as his thoughts turned to James. He was meeting him in ten minutes to go shopping for furniture. He grabbed his keys and ran down the staircase and out the little side door that he could enter and exit through instead of going through the café all the time.

“Where are you off to in such a hurry?” Sirius called after him, his hands stacked high with dirty plates. 

“James,” He called back over his shoulder. 

“Barbecue tonight, don’t be late. Remind James, please,” Remus popped his head out of the front door as Regulus rushed past. 

“You got it,” He shouted back, waving at his brother’s boyfriend. He really liked Remus. They had the same energy and the same penchant for chaos. 

He got to the park with a minute to spare. He was hot and sweaty from the exercise, but he knew James wouldn’t care. He spotted him under their tree. James had his head back, gazing up into the branches, smiling to himself. Regulus approached him quietly. 

“Should be careful, love. You never know what might fall out of trees if you stand under them too long.” James’s face broke into a blindingly warm smile that Regulus couldn’t help but return. He ran at James and James opened his arms wide to accept him. Regulus jumped, James caught him with ease and spun him around a few times before pressing a kiss to his lips. Regulus melted.

“Come on, love,” James sighed contentedly as he put Regulus back on his feet. “Let’s go buy you a bed,” They linked hands and Regulus let James lead him through the park and towards the shops. He hoped they did same-day delivery. He was eager for another sleepover with James and couldn’t wait to see the look on his brother’s face when he brought James down the stairs and out into the café for breakfast. No matter what Sirius did for him, his need to wind his brother up would always play a major part in their relationship and with Remus helping, the possibilities were endless.

Porsche bb-Auto Targa Hybrid, 2024 (1986), by Galpin Auto Sports. A restomod based on a 1986 911 Targa wide body built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of German tuning house bb-Auto. The car references the German tuners Rainbow 911 Turbo Targa of 1976 but has been updated with a 4.0-litre flat-6 engine by Ed Pink Racing, paired with a Vonnen hybrid system, delivering a combined 550hp. There is also updated suspension and brakes. Galpin plan to make a limited number of their restomod replicas, each can be customized to the owner’s specifications.
