Slumber Inn Motel
Tumblr media
The Slums aren't like the other survivors. There's no pettiness amongst the nine members of this faction, no political agenda in their rare interactions with the other groups. They're a faction of open-minded, creative people who believe there's room for art and culture in the apocalypse. The Slums are the type of people to return from runs with guitars and face paint, the type to trade their extra vegetables for weed and wine and the type to point and laugh at the drama that runs rampant in their barren city.
Thanks to Taemin's green thumb, they've got a thriving garden of fruits and vegetables. That (plus Kibum and Minho's willingness to go on long-distance runs) has resulted in a decent stockpile of produce, canned goods and medical supplies.
The Slums do their best to keep to themselves, more content to fortify their homestead against biters and play music behind closed doors than get involved with turf wars and inventory disputes. If forced to fight, however, the Slums will go to great (and uncharacteristically violent) lengths to protect themselves and the Slumber Inn Motel.
Jinki — reluctant leader
Jonghyun — medic
Kibum — runner
Minho — runner
Taemin — gardener
Solar — ambassador
Moonbyul — armorer and inventory manager
Wheein — trapper
Hwasa — main cook, part-time runner

Pack it up, everybody. Funs over. That “I’m a horrible writer” and “I should delete my entire WIP” feeling has returned.

Kowloon City: An Illustrated Guide,
At its height in the 1990s, Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong housed about 50,000 people. Its population is unremarkable for small cities, but what set Kowloon apart from others of its size was its density. Spanning only 2.6 hectares, the tiny enclave contained 1,255,000 people per square kilometer, making it the densest city in the world.
Kowloon was built as a small military fort around the turn of the 20th century. When the Chinese and English governments abandoned it after World War II, the area attracted refugees and people in search of affordable housing. With no single architect, the urban center continued to grow as people stacked buildings on top of one another and tucked new structures in between existing ones to accommodate the growing population without expanding beyond the original fort’s border.
With only a small pocket of community space at the center, Kowloon quickly morphed into a labyrinth of shops, services, and apartments connected by narrow stairs and passageways through the buildings. Rather than navigate the city through alleys and streets, residents traversed the structures using slim corridors that always seemed to morph, an experience that caused many to refer to Kowloon as “a living organism.”
The city devolved into a slum with crime and poor living conditions and was razed in 1994. Before demolition, though, a team of Japanese researchers meticulously documented the architectural marvel, which had become a sort of cyberpunk icon that even inspired a gritty arcade as tribute.

Dr Leslie Thompkins has some interesting references
So! The Batfam in in Dr Thompkins' Clinic for the usual Vigilante Related Injuries, and the Good Dr seems to be distracted.
One of them asks why she is so nervous and she reveals that her old teacher is coming over to visit, and she is worried that the state of her Clinic and the fact that she never managed to find a good job in a Hospital despite his teachings will upset him.
She is worried that she will disappoint him, because he has done so much for her in the past. He is the entire reason she ever managed to become a certified Doctor in the first place.
The others are curious as to what kind of person would illicit this level of concern from the Stric Doctor they knew?
There is a Knock on the Door, and she goes to Answer it.
In steps an 8 Ft Fall Glowing Yeti with an Arm made of Ice.
Frostbite smiles warmly at his former student, "Leslie! It's been too long!"
