(Also mama mew(two?) is supposed to be bigger cause I changed her size halfway through making this but didn’t wanna have to redraw everything since it was already colored so I’ll just draw her in her actual size for the rest of the comics)

Oppressive Suburbia, Conformity, and Season 5 Themes

I've long thought that a major focus of Season 5 will be the contrast between the families of The Wheelers and The Byers, and exploring how non-traditional family environments can be freeing vs the oppressive structure of the nuclear family.

In a Wrinkle In Time, Camazotz is a planet controlled by the big bad of the book, the "IT", who forces the citizens into a conformity that resembles American suburbia. All of the houses the same, the citizens the same, doing the same things at the same time without individual identity. Without anything different. Different means a lot of things, but with Stranger Things dropping different in reference to Will's identity and the presumable themes of this season, it will heavily codify as queerness and how it threatens the cisheterosexual family model.

Henry was raised in the 1950s, a decade still revered by conservatives for it's traditional family dynamics that supposedly were the peak of culture and happiness for all. That was all a lie, of course, and Henry knew so as he shows to Nancy and Eleven during his monologue. The second most conservative decade aside from the 1950s in American society is widely considered to be the 1980s.

The Creels will serve in parallel to The Wheelers; the worst example of what they could become and the damage that this type of family could do to a child that is different in any way. Notice how Vecna selectively shows Nancy visions of The Wheelers dying, but not anyone else she may consider family or friends (like Jonathan).

That is; unless they change their ways and come together as a healthy functioning family facing their traumas, The Wheelers will be toast.

Karen has been moved up to a main character role this season. Ted's actor says the father starts to show up more for Holly (hold that) and realizes he wants to act differently. Holly has been recast. Finn has said Mike goes on a much more personal journey this season, and steps up as a leader.

Oh, also: the catalyst for all of this is that Holly goes missing. The contrast will help show how the Byers (including El and Hopper here) were able to pull together and help solve Will's disappearance, versus how the Wheelers as a closed off nuclear family grapple with Holly's vanishing.

Each of the Byers is in some kind of a non-1950s conformist relationship, but particularly Will (not in one now but we all know he will be). I think El might represent, after she breaks up with Mike, the fear of the unmarried woman being satisfied without a husband. The above shot really emphasizes my point.

I predict that Will will end up coming out to his family rather early on, and we will see all of them immediately accept him with little surprise or push-back. Will is a visible gay man who comes from an open minded non traditional family (divorced, non-married, adoptive) that is willing to have honest conversations.

But this theme will place the most focus on the Wheelers. Mike is the main character of said family and this will particularly focus on his arc, and his acceptance of his queerness in the midst of suburban conformity.

He is not visible, he comes from a Reagan-supporting family who don't communicate with each other. He is not particularly close with his family like Will is. He pushes his feelings down and tries his damn hardest to be normal despite it all. His trauma hasn't really been addressed at all. He is falling back into his usual habits - the one thing he dared to do different (grow his hair long) has gone back to how it was.

It's not all doom and gloom though. This season above all will be a redemption arc of the American nuclear family, how they choose to escape their conformity and learn to be there for each other, thus overpowering Vecna. Not that the Wheelers are going to end this personally.

people will say "sansa isn't a deep character, she only exists as a window into tyrion & lf's plots, you're overhyping her" as if that's at all a good analysis of her character, and then suspiciously not lob that same analysis at a single other character. like, my comrade in christ, what in the goddamn hell do you think barristan is then, if not a window into the Meereen plots? why is victarian here? what the hell is arya doing in the entire riverlands arc if not acting as a window into the turmoil there? are we saying they aren't important? they won't affect the plot? sansa foils like 3 different schemes and is clearly and obviously scheming on her own to get away from LF but i guess these don't count because *deranged mumbling about how she only exists to cause problems in the family*

the fact that the archheart took selena because he loved her and wanted to give her peace, and in the process left her suspended in an eternal static torment because he doesn't understand how something as fragile as a mortal soul works feels like a summary of the good intentions/bad long term outcome situation with godly soul custody. it makes sense that the gods would end up keeping some of their special followers! the first mortals to get in tight with the gods probably asked for it! the ego death of proper reincarnation is terrifying compared to staying up late hanging out with your buddy pelor. asmodeus and the hells aren't being half as kind about it yet the core motive remains—that hoarding instinct to keep what you love(or hate) and never let it go.

but you and i aren’t meant to be eternal. the kryn use anamnesis to ensure the continuity of self through endless lifetimes and they’re still losing themselves to it. selena was turned into a nighmarish human-faced star because the god she made out of metal thought that they could understand each other and she hung there in his domain burning, her last wish forever repeating on her lips, for a thousand years until he could release her. mortals don’t want to fully die and gods don’t want to let them go but nobody can stay in their frozen crystalline palace of eternity forever. eventually everything in the Real gets to change.

Renee was hurt but given the circumstances, she understood their reasons for keeping it from her and the detectives. Surely it would gather a lot of unwanted attention from the media when ideally the brothers wanted to investigate independently. Like how Vincent never knew the existence of Isaac. Or how Isaac lived a secret identity all his life, escaping from his past and eventually finding out about Vincent. Once they were confident in their direction then they will expand the investigation. And deal with all the consequences then.

Give Battinson robins but it’s DCxDP style with ghosts. 

His kids are… technically not from his world and technically not alive either, but that doesn’t stop him from adopting them. Even if he wasn’t aware of them being literal ghosts for the first few hours of encountering them. 

How did they get here? Well, you see, sometimes child ghosts will run into each other, and they’ll form their own little friend groups. Or family groups. Especially if they lack a guardian. Who would tell them not to mess with natural portals. 

Or to kidnap a phantom to play with them, but hey he’s enjoying himself too and has a puppy! The bestest boy!

Bruce was not prepared for some sort of energy-thing to open and spit out a good half a dozen children. Nor was he prepared for these children to all have powers, or for another child (thankfully a teen) to fall into the cave a few weeks later.

ive been thinking a bit recently and i thought id share how i hid things, for any of my followers that may be in a toxic living environment and need to hide something such as a phone or any other small object.

1 - wrap it. wrap it in toilet paper or napkins, this is to stop it from making noise and to hide it even more. the messier the better.

2 - put it in something. put it in a small box or container that nobody would expect to look in. make sure that its hand-held size and can safey hide the object. the smaller, the better. some things may be able to fit in empty pill bottles, wallets, mini drawstring bags or empty acne pad containers.

3 - hide it in plain sight. take the container and put it somewhere nobody would really expect it to be. for example, the bottom of a cluttered nightstand, in the very back in the corner of your closet, in a shoe, just anywhere that will hide the object while still making it appear "normal" or hidden away.

this guide could be used for secret phones, religious items youre trying to keep a secret such as tarot cards or crystals, etc etc. anything small, heres a guide to hide. probably wont work for clothes or bigger items but you can definitely try lol.

Patrolling as Wolfie was a routine that he adopted some time ago already, making sure that no monsters were hiding behind bushes and detecting them in time.

Although, that was his side job. His main one was to attend to the chain’s bad dreams.

He himself suffered with them, but the others had their own set of bad experiences that still haunted them even in their sleep. Sometimes Twilight heard things that they would never tell to a hylian.

This night he already did his rounds, they all already sleeping and the one for the shift being Time he didn’t needed to worry about someone learning that he was the wolf, so he slipped from Wild’s side and was going to change back far from camp.

A whisper made him stop. Turning to see who it was he found the smithy, his face being visible on Legend’s mirror shield which was next to him from the maintenance that he was giving it some hours ago.

With mind made, Twilight trotted towards Four, sitting next to him and bringing his snout to softly touch his head. He seemed very awake for him.

“I’m sorry…” He repeated in whispers, staring at his reflection in the shield. There was something weird about this.

Twilight didn’t wanted to wake up the others, so he decided that the shield was the problem. He grabbed it with his mouth, moving it so Four couldn’t be seeing it anymore and letting it on the grass instead leaning on their bags. If the veteran asked it was being a bother.  

When he turned to look again towards Four, he was staring into nothing, his eyes of an intense purple, almost if they were shining in the dark.

Maybe a nightmare, but it was weird, he didn’t seem like he was sleeping, maybe he was part of the people who slept with their eyes open, who knows.

He ruffled his hair with his snout, finally making him to wake up—was he sleeping? He wasn’t sure— and look at him.

“Oh, Wolfie…” He wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be a salute or just disappointment, but he will not complain.

He slopped next to the smith, being big enough to act like a sofa for him right now. Four understood the signal and leaned into him, getting comfortable on his thick fur.

“I thought you were someone else… You know, the reflection played a trick on me, or something like that” Twilight felt like this wasn’t for him to hear, but there was no way that he could say this to him without waking up the others.

“Mirrors, while in the dark, might be able to reflect something that is usually behind us, ya know?” His hears perked up at that “I thought I lost him again, and then he came back through the mirror, but I guess I’m just tired” A laugh without humor came out of him.

He rested his head on Four’s lap, giving a silent comfort that he usually gave after a bad nightmare, waking up from these would make someone confused of his surroundings, he knew that well.

“Thanks, Twi” The smithy’s hands petted his head, glad to find no teeth threatening him.

He understands, not the complete situation or who was Four talking about, but he understands.

Porch kittens?

There's 4 and I think one more I wasn't able to catch. The biggest one is really feisty so I couldn't get a good picture of it on my lap.

I *think* they're all boys but it's hard to tell with their long hair and young age.

I gave them baths and some food and water. They've got a litter box in their little enclosure,too, along with some toys.

Aside from the biggest one being a little feisty, they're surprisingly mellow and cool with being handled. They were way easier to bathe than I expected.

I'll start calling some rescues near me to see if they have space for them. Luckily they seem to be in good health. I wouldn't be surprised if the mom is still around, seeing how well cared for them seem. I'll keep an eye out for her and see if I can't bring her in, as well. At least to get spayed, if she's not able to be rehomed.
