#i dont have any formal knowledge abt music like reading sheets and timing so its a little messy. but it was a fun challenge #but there was sheet music that matched up with the song and i used a reference with the block notes so that was really helpful #im really proud of this considering my elementary school taught me nothing about music #its amazing how ppl can put together multiple of these and singing to make a song. and come up with new ones every time #i like to try and pick apart different instruments and beats when i listen to music so its fascinating how much goes into it #yapping #minecraft #video #spirited away #?#i showed this to my mom and she was really impressed

#gote to handa #gote and handa #miri gote to handa #or mili.. or milli... im not sure what spelling of her name would be the go to in general fandom translation #love her range of expressions they're so funny so i drew a few here #im still not done clearing up my schedule to go back to my challenge but that dont mean i cant draw in between it :333 #would love to draw her more but i have to finish my japanese drills www SOON...#goofy bonus storytime but i debated so much how to draw her prior to this because i didnt know what a junior high was #basically the translation for gote to handa i read described the characters as being in junior high #but im not familiar to english or american school customs outside of movies and such (its feels unreal compared to my culture www)#i tried looking it up but for whatever reason it brought up elementary school... and then middle school?#and i didnt know how to look it up because again im not familiar with english school systems if not superficially HDALJDKAD #so i gave up and read up on japanese school uniform usage and inferred from it that they are middle schoolers #BUT IM STILL SO CONFUSED ON WHAT THE JUNIOR HIGH IS ... i didnt know there were more terms than elementary middle and high school😭😭#in the end its not like how i drew mili is that much different from how i draw characters younger than her tbh BUT I TRY...#just a funny story of how i dont comprehend ... english... american ... school systems at all let me know what a junior high is LOL😭😭#i dont know if its an american or. general english speaking country thing thats why i mention both #is there a catchall word for english country natives in english. there sure is in spanish but would sound strange mixed in www #(i must say the difference between elementary and middle school was crucial because shes said to be in second year)#SO SECOND YEAR OF WHAT WAS. INDEED CRUCIAL because thats a big difference isnt it😭😭😭??? didn't want to draw her too big nor too small lol #and second *year* confused me the most because the term “year” is not used for students younger than what would be high school students her #so yes i was fighting for me life #drotter fights culture shock the story

(i realized in looking for this answer that a lot of songs i think are 80s are actually either 70s or 90s. so thats fun.)

What's Love Got to Do with It by Tina Turner is for sure high up on the list. her voice, man. Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears, a cover of which was my ringtone for years. Jump by Van Halen, bc i cant not have a VH song.

now you might think bfs not yet existing in the 80s should mean i cant answer them for this (though the 3/4 of the og guys were in high school meeting one another in 86 and all learning to play around that time) however they've been known to do a cover on occasion (1985 is a cover of an SR-71 song) so also Summer of '69, originally released by Bryan Adams in 1985 and covered by Bowling for Soup on their 2000 album Let's Do It For Johnny

im sure ive said this before somewhere, but i grew up listening to late 90s/early 2000a country, which undoubtedly did irreparable damage to my psyche but also is the reason i knew from an early age that i was queer (even if i didnt want to admit it then) i remember being so in love with Shania Twain in the UP! music video and the hot waitress from Alan Jackson's I Dont Even Know Your Name. Drive (for Daddy Gene) also by Alan Jackson was very big in our house. then my sister was big into Britney Spears and i was very anti pop music, which made sharing a room suuuuper fun (also we're eight years apart, so add thay layer in) but now whenever i hear any Britney songs i think of being a kid.

and the bfs answer is High School Never Ends, even though i was like 14 or 15 when i started listening. my childhood best friend showed me 1985 one day and i became obsessed. my favorite was always HSNE and i played it constantly
