if you personally cut off a family member because that family member refuses to use your pronouns and name
and then that family member tries to make amends with you by STILL refusing to use your pronouns
all because they want to invite you to a wedding or a holiday gathering for their own selfish reasons
you have EVERY RIGHT to ignore that family member and continue to block communication with them
that family member is NOT trying to make amends that family member is still being manipulative AS FUCK
keep strong guys you have no obligation to bend your mental health for the "health" of someone who's doing you wrong

A random rant about Dracula
Disclaimer: some BBC Dracula spoilers
~â—‡~
Right, so after a good year, I've decided to rewatch the 2020 bbc Dracula show because it's still on Netflix, and I had a really good time watching it the first time.
Can we all agree that this show would have 100% gotten a season renewal if the third episode just never happened and shows like BIG MOUTH didn't hog the spotlight? Like Claes Bang as Dracula was such a fantastic casting choice. I adored Agatha Van Helsing (I just love a faithless nun trope). The costume and setting design are just so detailed. I would have loved to see how Dracula would have prowled around 18th century England!
Don't get me wrong, there were some good bits in the third episode. How Drac navigates the modern world has its humorous moments, and Zoe was nearly as much of a joy to watch as Agatha. But overall, I feel like the direction taken was poorly executed. It almost felt like a bit of an afterthought compared to the first two episodes with the amount of plot holes it had (granted, the first two episodes had the original book to use as a reference, whereas the third was complete fan fiction at this point). I feel like the murder mystery portion of the second episode should have become more prominent in the show because it's just so fun and so frustrating watching the villian get away (insert the NBC Hannibal show).
Overall, I really enjoyed this series, I wish the fandom was a bit more alive, but I also understand why it is quite well... dead. There's a lot to love and a lot that is pretty meh due to awkward writing. I think if the show settled with ONE timeline throughout the series and then bounced around for flashbacks, that would have been a lot better.
~â—‡~
That's my rant. Thanks for reading if you got this far. Your sacrifice of time and braincells is very much appreciated. Who knows, maybe if I'm motivated enough, I might attempt to write my own fic to finally give my mind some sense of closure when it comes to this show.

UGGGGH I thought I would get used to Phone Guy being named fucking Ralph, but I just CAN'T!
Like, as soon as I think "hey I'm warming up to the name Ralph for Phone Guy". I remember that's THE CANON NAME for the character and I go into an unquienchable rage!
I don't even hate the name "Ralph", that's the name of my psychitrist. I just hate that it's the CANON NAME FOR THE CHARACTER.
You know, the character that was practically FOUNDED on fanon for almost a decade! The character that honestly would honestly be better WITHOUT canon material because of much the FAN COMMUNITY made with him?! THAT FUCKING CHARACTER!?
Like with Vanny, I didn't LIKE what canon did with the character but I could live with it because like, the fanon versions lasted only 1-2 years at most. Plus with the leaks, we practically KNEW that Vanessa and Vanny were the same person, like it was obvious.
But 10 YEARS! Sine the begginning. Without ANY REAL WARNING!? NOW YOU FINALLY GIVE US CANON MATERIAL? Bogus man!
This is the last time I'm going to talk about this, I don't like perpetuating the stereotype of Autistic people not being able to change, but these are my feelings.
You can't just have a character be around for 10 years and just NOW give us canon information.

Does it bother anyone else that like. Every new Star Wars show uses the same introduction?
Half the time it’s the same music! Come on!
Like, I get it, cool helmets. Dramatic music. Whatever. Remember when shows all had their own introduction, with maybe a callback to the wider cinematic universe? Remember when we’d all talk about how cool the intro was to such and such show, how it compared to others in the universe and reflected on the themes and genre we were about to watch? How you could follow what characters were included/not included in the intros of certain episodes or season? Remember when they’d change them between seasons or after major events, showing the dramatic shift in the show or who had lived or died?
Come on, Disney. Just put some effort into it.

I wasn't gonna say anything but I've seen this post too many times now.
Although the aesthetics of having a bunch of tiny ssd cartridges with movies and shows is excellent and very appealing, I cannot stand for this slander of the optical media!
Yes, optical disks are slower (for data transfer) and a lot more expensive BUT they last so much longer.
Optical media is the longest lasting medium currently in production. It can reliably hold onto your data for 50-100 years without power or cooling, and without the worry of magnetic degradation.  Using recordable optical media such as DVD-R is perfectly suitable for long-term archiving because it is write-once, read-many, meaning it is physically immutable—cannot be changed—so the data on it is tamper-proof. (source)
I also saw some folks in the notes talking about Micro SD (it really would look super cool to have mini boxes of micro sd, like dvd boxes but tiny, I love the concept), but I gotta say: BAD IDEA!!! Micro SDs are not made for long-term storage!!! You will loose your media!!!
Its basic architecture is part of the problem with storing data on an SD. The gate can hold the electrons for some time. However, this group contains the pieces of data that make up the whole files you want to store. Some electrons leak out of the gate and get lost as time passes. If they do, you may have to deal with missing or corrupted data that could be difficult to get off the card later. [...] In short, it may be fair to say that SD cards can store some data for a few years. However, many factors could shorten that period. For example, a brand new card will keep data longer than an older one. Flash memory also has no error correction. Therefore, the chances of getting your data corrupted or unreadable are high. An SD card is practical if you need to store non-critical data for only a few years. However, this kind of memory isn’t your best choice for crucial data you want to keep safe for a long time. (source)
I don't know about you but I'd like to keep my favorite movies, shows, albums, etc, for like decades! I want my children to have them! And my grandchildren!
And I also saw some people in the notes talking about cassette tapes. They are very easily erased, guys. They are written magnetically and can be corrupted super easily. I still have a bunch but I have to be very careful with how I store them, and even so I've had the surprise of popping a few in the VHS only to see that their content is gone :(
Lastly, the SSD:
- SSDs are temperature sensitive. If you put it on a shelf of a storage room with high temperature, the memory charge that defines bits in flash will fade quickly over time. When the charge is gone, so is the data. - SSD’s speed and reliability are much relying on the firmware’s house cleaning work. Yet, when unpowered, the firmware is unavailable. - Since the SSDs make use of chips to store data while the chips can only be written for a certain number of times before they fail, there is great chance of SSD failure under too much writing work - SSDs store data on flash memory, which needs to be charged with electricity to keep the data stable. [...] In summary of the above concerns, the most important factors that affect the lifespan of an SSD are the temperature, the read/write frequency and the power charge. (source)
So yeah, SSDs are good! They work much better than normal HDs. But optical disks are still better. They are the best!!!
PLEASE DON'T LET DVDS DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want owned physical media back, but I'm not sad to see DVDs go – optical media was always a transitional technology, and suffers from a number of intractable drawbacks. I want them to start selling movies on indestructible solid-state cartridges the size of a quarter, so I can keep my entire media collection in an unsorted pile in a random cabinet drawer and have to go rummaging through it like an amateur chef trying to find the lemon zester every single time I want to watch something. Do you understand? I want to lose the entire Star Wars trilogy between my couch cushions.

if you’re ever in the position to choose between giving up and accepting defeat, and actually trying to fight the ancient unkillable god that is about to peel apart reality like a string cheese, remember this: scientifically speaking, you might as well give it a shot!
1.there were trees at the beginning of the world! there were trees so long ago that they predate bacteria that causes wood to decay. when a tree fell, it would lie there in stasis and there wasn’t any way of breaking down wood xylem on a molecular level in that way.
2. it seems obvious to say, but wood eating bacteria are literally incapable of comprehending what they’re breaking down. It’s just not information conciously available to a microorganism. they don’t know what they’re deconstructing, where it came from, bacteria have no way to even fathom the existence of a tree as a concept.
3. Regardless of the facts above, the world we live in today is a world where wood inevitably decomposes
it is worth fighting the unkillable god no matter how pointless it seems. it is worth taking the risk even though youre trying to accomplish something impossible. the reality in which you live was also once reality in which trees didn’t rot. You live in a reality that allows for existence before the possibility of destruction. you live in a reality where uncomprehending microbes break down matter that is so far beyond the scope of their comprehension that it feels comical to specify something so obvious. you live in a reality that occasionally allows unshakeable physical truths to be altered with no warning.
It is worth fighting the unkillable god because trees are so old they predate the source of their destruction, and it still did not spare them. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because bacteria rots unthinkingly, because there is room in our cosmos for destruction without comprehension on the part of the destroyer. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because now and then reality retracts the promise of immortality without fanfare, and when that happens there is no mercy for the ancient. the unmaking is not softer for the desecrators ignorance. for all things, existence is endless until the exact point where it ends.
so you might as well try to kill the unkillable god. it doesn’t seem likely, but at the beginning of the world, trees didn’t rot. so you never know! you never know

when u go to write a mentally ill person in ur story you are presented two options. the first option is to write your mental illness realistically as you actually experience it with all the ups and downs and people who are like you will resonate with it and feel seen. except every person who reads instagram infographics on mental health that uses the phrase narcicisst for anyone who does anything that crosses them and unironically call themself a dark empath will call you scary and tell you that youre demonizing mentally ill people
the second option is to lie and write inspiration porn for those people to get hard to

There’s a reason why we feel lonely even though we aren’t alone. It’s because loneliness is not about how many friends we have or how many people are in the room with us. It’s a disconnection from others. Being social doesn’t cure loneliness, loneliness comes when there is not a single person close enough to see past the illusion to who we really are and what we really feel inside.

Several videos (independently) start circulating on the internet of the Waynes info dumping.
Bruce - the role of railways in westward expansion in the 1890s
Dick - clown eggs
Jason - tb and the New England vampires of the late 19th century, with reference to vampire literature
Cass - Paris sewer system
Tim - comparison of different camera lenses from different manufacturers, with model numbers
Duke - anti homeless architecture and how to remove it
Damian - cat declawing
After all this, a new meme forms.
'You must be this autistic to get adopted by Bruce Wayne.'

I am incredibly serious right now when I beg you all, please, and if you have Twitter or Tiktok or whatever to please spread the word: click on an author's profile on Ao3.
You want to know if an author has written more? Want to know if they're still writing? Want to see more from them? Want to know if they've written a trope or kink or sex scenario you enjoy?
Click on their name. And look at their profile.
I cannot tell you how many times in the last six months someone has read a new or newer fic of mine and said they (a new reader who has read nothing else I've done) "can't wait to see what you do next!" I've written 50+ fics and over a million words already.
"I don't know if you're still writing..." click on my profile. I am. I literally wrote a 128k+ fic for that ship last month.
"Would you ever do X?" "Please do Y!" I already did. Click on my name and look at my works.
Archive of our Own is a library. It's an archive. Not social media. It is your responsibility to fight back against the laziness that corporate algorithms have trained into you.
Click my author name. Just click it. Just click it.
Before you demand more, or ask if a writer will do XYZ, or wonder if the author still writing, or anything - click on their profile. Click on the author's profile.
I'm not trying to be mean or condescending or anything like that. I'm just exhausted. It's disheartening and frustrating to repeat myself ad nauseam, because someone couldn't take thirty seconds to do the tiniest bit of work to see if I've written lately, if I've written more for their ship, or scan my works to see if I've written what they're asking for. Please. Please. I'm begging.
Click the author's name, and explore before you ask.

“Bamboo is antifungal”
Because it’s rayon
“Eucalyptus fabric is cooling!”
Yeah, because it’s rayon
“We make clothing called seacell out of seaweed!”
Yeah I looked on your website it’s made by the lyocell process, which means-
-wait for it-
It’s fucking rayon!!
Listen. There is a list of actual plant fibers that are directly made into fabric: cotton, linen, ramie, some hemp. I’m sure I’m missing a couple.
But if you’re wondering “huh how did they turn that plant material into fabric,” 99% of the time? It’s RAYON.
All rayon is made by putting plant material in chemical soup, dissolving out everything but the cellulose, and turning the cellulose into filaments/fibers.
The source of the cellulose has zero effect on the eventual fabric.
Rayon made from bamboo or eucalyptus or seaweed is not any better than rayon from any other sources.
Don’t let companies mislead you!
