For me it was Guillaume and Stephanie's pre-wedding gala. Everyone had such a good hair day and most of them made it to this challenge one way of another.

Another one was Victoria and Daniel's 10th wedding anniversary photoshoot. For those who weren't following me then, I almost cried because Victoria gave us an unicorn: hair down with a tiara, and not only that, she just wore my absolute fave swedish tiara. I'll always conmemorate june 15th 2020 hahahaha

The wolf is hungry.

It is running for a while now, hiding for longer. Dark, burned lands changed to sharp rocks under its feet. Sharp rocks shifted into cold ground and big dark trees, covered with a layer of something white and cold.

Snow, the voice in its head sighs. It is called "snow", and you will freeze to death should you not find a place to hide.

WE will freeze to death, the wolf corrects, and the voice groans.

I don't care. Just - dig up a den, or whatever it is wolves sleep in.

We always slept in a cage, the wolf wonders. Or by our Master's side.

Don't you dare to speak of Master, the voice hisses.

But Master was warm, the wolf thinks, and whines at the memory of Master's touch and voice. It missed being touched, it decided.

Stop, the voice whispers. Stop right now. Please.

I can't, the wolf admits. I miss him. He cared about us.

He- no. Stop. A den. Make a den.

I don't know how.

What? You're a wolf. You know how to make dens.

The wolf stops. It wanders to a nearby tree and tries to dig down.

I can't, it finally whines.

The voice falls silent. The wolf sighs.

Please, it asks, trust us. Trust yourself.

The voice shifts, and the wolf rises its ears.

The forest around it is full of sounds and smells again, and the wolf takes off. It feels the blood running through its body, it feells every muscle and every fur, and it no longer thinks of voices or death or separation.

The wolf feels a prey upon it, trembling and fragile and alive.

The wolf bares its teeth.

The wolf is hungry.

One last talent show to save the rec center

Ok everybody here's the deal.

My science education nonprofit, Skype a Scientist (you might know her, creator of the squid facts hotline and matcher of classrooms + scientists) has secured absolutely no grants to support general operations for 2025. But! We're selling advent calendars to fund our program! They absolutely rule. They can save our nonprofit asses. If we sell 5000, which I realize, is so many, we can fund our program for 2025. Then I can offer a bunch of programming for free. Running a nonprofit is a weird job.

Every day, counting down to frankly whatever you want (it's usually Christmas, but man, maybe you want to count down to Halloween, that's fine by me) scratch off the sparkly sparkly iridescence and reveal a fact about frogs! We have 24 top-notch frog facts here.

speaking of how to train your dragon and creature design, the shift from the really naturalistic art direction and character animation for the first movie's toothless- the face getting flatter, the eyes bigger and closer together, getting rid of the little realistic details like the dust collecting between the scales, the pink splotching where the scales end at the nostrils, the muted markings, the animation making a shift from largely realistic animal behavior to much more anthropomorphic- is such a huge downgrade to me, made worse because it's subtle in such a way that you will sound insane if you mention it

(huge L for the "the audience's capacity to find a creature cute and empathetic and expressive is directly proportional to how much it looks like a human baby" principle of character design because the first one is so so much cuter)
