Hey, I'm really excited about the eel calendars! Do you have an estimate of when they're going to ship? I might be moving before the end of the year and I just want to know whether to order now or wait a bit depending on timing. Thanks!
I'm shipping right now! I dropped the first batch at the post office this morning :)

You ready for EELS?!
It's that time again- Advent Calendar time!!
Wanna learn about eels for 24 days STRAIGHT? Maybe leading up to Christmas, maybe leading up to Halloween, or your birthday, or your dog's birthday, or any number of auspicious days?!
Boy do I have the calendar for you.
Get one here!
Scratch off one orange box a day to reveal a fact about eels. it's like a lottery ticket, but you win every day because it's always facts about eels.
These calendars are the primary way that my science education nonprofit, Skype a Scientist, keeps the lights on. Calendars are totally critical for us to keep existing, and also share a bunch of cool science! It's a beautiful thing.
Skype a Scientist matches scientists with classrooms, scout troops libraries, and others for online Q&A sessions all over the world. We serve about 4000 classrooms a year and offer our program for FREE. We can offer it for free thanks to these advent calendars. It's a weird way to fund a nonprofit, but hey, it works.
We also run events in our hometown in Philly that often center art when communicating science! We host moth nights in the woods and in city parks to connect people with nature, and host events like Climate Change Crafting Night where participants create art that communicate important environmental messages! When we have enough money we even create community science murals!
You can always donate to support our org without buying a calendar here.
Reposts are incredibly appreciated. Running a nonprofit is a challenge! Tumblr helps a LOT!!

Buckle up are you ready for this? I’m running a FREE event with FREE beer and snacks, and a whole smorgasbord of art supplies for you all to play with.
RSVP here! WHY? To overcome the hot trash of an information system we’re living in. We’re going to create art that communicates important messages. I’ll focus on climate change and the biodiversity crisis, but you can cover whatever topic is nearest to your heart. I’ll take you through HOW to do that, give some inspiration for what to talk about, and then set you loose to make your creations. If you’re good at art, you should come. If you’re bad at art, you should come too. It’s all hands on deck at the end of the world. Art supplies will cover a wide range of styles, from street art to watercolor to bracelets. Huge thank you to our event sponsors for making this event possible: Lisa and John Mowery Sonya Widen and @yardsbrew for the generous beer donation! Pull up a chair, tell your friends, let’s make things better and have a blast while doing it. RSVP here.

THIS! WEDNESDAY!

Taking action on climate can feel super overwhelming (especially with all the rest of it going to shit, omfg). Wanna get together, learn some concrete action items, and make some art about it? This Philly event is for you.
I'll provide some things to advocate for, and art supplies, including stickers, paper for making big wheatpastes, and paint pens.
Yes, there will be friendship bracelets too 😘
RSVP here 👇🏻
Btw, if you're thinking "But Sarah, your country is going to shit. You're literally falling into fascism and you're hosting an arts and crafts night? are you fucking kidding me????" TRUST me buddy I'm thinking it too, but community is important, so come share some soft pretzels with me & make friendship bracelets.
