Wait, is the TLDR of this basically: A Reagan-appointed Texas Judge thought twerking was art and therefore called the Texas Drag Ban unconstitutional? Or am I too tired to have understood what I just read.

As a WTTT fan, I love Texas (the character). As a trans person, I hate Texas (the government). As an Oklahoman, I love to hate Texas (the state itself).
It's a very complicated relationship

so I'm gonna tell yall what we ain't about to do.
this year, we aint gonna make fun of people in the south trapped in any ice storms or bad weather that may occur. we aint about to make jokes about how southerners cant drive in ice and snow (altho it is true i dont need any northerners being an ass about it)
I will reiterate what I said a couple of years ago: the roads in the south are not made to handle ice. they are not built to handle snow. we do not have snow chains down here, at least not typically.
I dunno about other states, but we all know jack shit has been done about the Texas grid. If the power somehow fails again, we aint gonna make fun of us who have no power. we aint gonna be an ass about any rolling black outs. we aint gonna tell southerners they deserve to freeze to death just because we happen to live in the south or a red state.

A Texas Republican who has led the charge to ban all-ages drag shows because of his deep concern over “the sexualization of our children” is facing allegations of inviting an intern to his home late on a weekend night and serving her alcohol even though she isn’t old enough to legally drink.
Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton has reportedly had a complaint filed against him with the Texas state legislature that claims he had an “inappropriate relationship” with an intern.
A complaint filed with the House General Investigating Committee by a legislative staffer and obtained by The Texas Tribune, as well as a Tribune source with direct knowledge of the incident, said that Stanton called the intern, who is under age 21, after 10 p.m. on Friday, March 31, and invited her to his apartment, where he served her alcohol.
According to allegations in the complaint obtained by the Tribune, Slaton later showed that intern fake emails that claimed to have information about the incident in an apparent loyalty test, and told her not to tell anyone about the incident.
Slaton’s attorney denied the claims.
“We are aware of outrageous claims circulating online by second-tier media that make false claims against Representative Slaton,” Slaton's attorney Patrick Short said in a statement to The Texas Tribune. “As a result, he has been advised to forward all inquiries in this matter—including any that may relate to a possible complaint—to his legal counsel.”
Slaton, who is 45 years old, has spent more than a year denouncing all-ages drag performances, and last month he introduced a bill to ban drag shows from having kids in attendance.
“In the wake of these erotic drag performances sweeping our state, I committed last year to filing legislation that would stop this disgusting practice in the presence of children,” he said in a statement announcing the bill.
“The State has a duty to protect kids from being sexually exploited, and HB 4129 is the most comprehensive bill to stop the sexualization of kids by these performances,” he continued.
Slaton has previously blasted an all-ages drag show as a “grooming event.”
“This is just going to the grooming, the sexualization of our children,” he said last summer. “This comes down to decency, morality and ethics, and children should not be the object of your sexualization, your desires.”
Just days ago, after the incident with the intern allegedly occurred, Slaton posted a Bible passage warning against those who would lead children astray:

Slaton was absent from the Texas legislature last Thursday, a major legislative day.
The lawmaker has pushed for some other extreme laws as well. He proposed giving property tax cuts to straight, married couples—but not to married LGBTQ couples or those who have previously been divorced. He also filed a bill to allow Texans to vote on secession from the United States.
Texas Republican House Speaker Dade Phelan said that his office would look into the accusations.
“The Texas House does not tolerate misconduct or other inappropriate behaviors and takes all allegations related to these issues seriously,” he said in a statement. “I expect this matter to be addressed in a swift and thorough manner under the rules governing our chamber for the 88th Legislature and all applicable standards of conduct.”

Earlier Tuesday, the Senate gave final approval to a bill banning certain medical treatments for transgender minors. The chamber has already sent a bill to the House that would require college athletes to compete in sports according to their sex at birth.
please give to the ACLU of Texas the HRC and GLAD
and also support the Democratic Party of Texas and Annie's List

The one thing I noticed very early on while analyzing Satanic Panic media from the 80s/90s is just how much of it targets public schools and education. Like half of the documentaries will start off like “schools are teaching children the occult” and touch upon that for the next hour or so. It’s something I don’t think is talked about a lot when it comes to the Satanic Panic, but the amount of focus on schools, on children’s media is admittedly, the one thing that always jumps out at me.

Protect Jenny! Section 28 should be seen as one of a number of measures that Thatcher’s government took to curb the influence of local authorities. Backed by right-wing groups and the press, it sought to discredit local authorities which it perceived as focusing too much on minority issues by labeling them as the ‘loony left’ and holding up examples of political correctness as evidence of how out of touch they were with the common man. The use of the Danish children’s book Jenny lives with Eric and Martin by the Labour-controlled Inner London Education Authority was the touchpaper that ignited the debate leading to Section 28. The book dealt with some of the day-to-day issues that a child with same-sex parents might encounter.
Local Government Act 1988 – Excerpt from Section 28:
(1) A local authority shall not: (a) intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality; (b) promote the teaching in any maintained school [as defined in the Act] of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretend family relationship
Sounds familiar…

How this doesn't fall under a violation of freedom of speech is beyond me. One thing is for certain, this is totally discrimination and should never be supported.
In Texas a bill is being proposed to criminalise drag shows and trans persons.
Under the bill, drag shows are defined as:
“a performance in which a performer exhibits a gender identity that is different than the performer’s gender assigned at birth using clothing, makeup, or other physical markers and sings, lip syncs, dances or otherwise performs before an audience for entertainment”.
Therefore the bill also seeks to make everyday life impossible for a trans person to live their live's authentically. The bill seems to equate trans and a drag artists as essentially the same thing. Which they are not. It's bad enough that this violates personal expression, it's bad enough that it's incredibly transphobic. But they couldn't even manage the grasp the basic differences between trans and drag. It's painfully obvious that these bills have been proposed by ignorant bigots who haven't a clue what they are even proposing. This is why I also suggest that anyone lacking awareness on trans issues, to talk to actual trans people.
