The Stars at Night was a great finale, but can I just take a moment to gush about the sheer awesomeness of how Captain Freeman responds to 3 bleeding age ai ships, which she just watched go through a Sovereign class ship like a knife through butter, are now laser focused on her ship? "Good, then they aren't targeting any more civilians"
Like damn, that's a strong Starfleet line. And noone on the ship even bats an eye. Its the right thing to do and they're the only one who can do it.
Like, really puts Boimlers mid season rant about how they don't want to fight, but it's the right thing to do in order to protect everyone else so they have to in a new light.

A new Star Trek ship dropped yesterday! This time the state of Texas gets some love with the USS Aledo NA-01, Texas Class. The ship is most likely named after the City of Aledo, Texas. This follows the same naming convention of the California class in Star Trek Lower Decks, of which the USS Cerritos NCC-75567 is a member. Ships of the California class are named after cities and towns of California.
I haven't watched the episode yet but I look forward to it when I get home tonight. I hope they are following the American class naming conventions and not the British. Because if it's American, then there is canonical evidence of a USS Texas in the United Federation of Planets. The NA-01 is a new registry prefix. So I'll wait to see the episode to see what other info is mentioned about the ship and/or class.

So today I finished rewatching Lower Decks in preparation for season 4’s premiere and I’m sorry if this is the dumbest thing to complain about but I just need to get it out there.
It bothered me immensely that the big bad of season 3 was a Hispanic guy from Texas. Like, of all people, why him??? Trek has so little Hispanic/Latino representation that I instantly latched onto Buenamigo when he was introduced. And to just throw that in the trash and make him a villain really angers me.
Do you know how fucking overjoyed I was when I saw Buenamigo had an Alamo on his shelf? The symbol of my hometown?! And then later when they showed the rest of the Texas memorabilia on his shelf including two flags, four commemorative plates, and a lone star. Sorry if this is graphic, but I was practically creaming my pants.
So to learn that he was a selfish fucking douchebag that only cared about advancing his career, used Rutherford and forced the implant on him to cover his tracks was extremely frustrating. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. And that also kinda reinforced the stereotype of Hispanics being shady and untrustworthy. Which, you know, is fucking awful.
And the Texas class. Oh God the Texas class.
Look, I enjoyed the season 3 finale. It was cool seeing all the California class ships in a space battle against a super powered Starfleet vessel. But there was this looming implication throughout the episode. The fact that the problem was the Texas class threatening to end the California class, the Texas ships turning evil and destructive, and all the Cali class ships coming together to destroy the Texas ships… it gave off some real California supremacy vibes.
I do not think Texas is perfect. It has a shitload of problems, especially in regards to their politics. But it is big and beautiful and diverse. I grew up in San Antonio where the majority of the population was Hispanic/Latino, so seeing the lack of representation for my ethnicity in media (positive rep, I should say) makes me so upset. We deserve better. Texas deserves better, at least I think so.
And one more thing regarding that Cali supremacy: California's not that fucking great. Texas has its fair share of natural disasters, but at least we don't have constant earthquakes and forest fires. And if y'all haven't noticed, a lot of people have been leaving California to move to Texas in the last decade. I wonder why that is...
Yeah I know my bias is showing. No I am not sorry.

"We are calling for court support on September 19 at 8:30am, in Fort Worth, Texas, in order to support drag defenders fighting a civil suit from fascist group New Columbia Movement. The courthouse is located at 100 N. Calhoun Street, Fort Worth, TX, and the hearing will be in the 4th floor courtroom for the 48th District Court
Once the courtroom fills up, we are also inviting people to stand outside the courthouse with signs and banners showing their support.
More details to come soon, but the tl;dr is that everyone should cover identifying markings as a standard anti-doxxing precaution, and should remember that the goal of this particular action is not disruption, we are here to stand in solidarity with drag defenders facing legal persecution and show them they're not alone"
