Thinking of all the parallels between Sassy and Trent, in relation to Ted. And also the contrast between them. Sassy just tolerates Ted's sense of humor, while Trent actually enjoys it. Sassy doesn't wanna go out with Ted because he's a mess. But Trent went to dinner with him even though he had a low opinion of him in that moment.

Ted spells out what he wants out of a romantic relationship. And Sassy can't fulfill his emotional needs, but Trent can, and he did throughout the series. Trent gets Ted in a way no one else does.

These scenes... I think they says a lot. The way Ted watches Sassy leave compared to the way he watches Trent leave. "You don't need a line, you don't need words, it's all moments, actually".

And now let's talk about:

Sassy compares their relationship to the movie "Friends With Benefits", but she was actually talking about "No strings attached".

I think that's really interesting in retrospect considering that later in the season, we have an episode called "The Strings That Bind Us".

So if Ted and Sassy have "no strings attached", who is Ted's red string actually connected to?

Ted's outfit in 3x03 mirrors the one he wore when he & Rebecca first met.

Rebecca wore the burnt orange silk vest twice in s1 - when she first meets Ted & when they travel to Liverpool (and we all know what happened in Liverpool). She wears the same color when lighting a candle in the kitchen in 3x03, the matchbox she drops back into the drawer lands next to one with a karaoke logo (more on those matchboxes in another post).

Sassy's animal print dress - both variations worn at a time when Ted is at a low and she shows interest in him.

This, and also it’s not that she looks for him when he’s sad because he’s sad and she want to manipulate him; she looks for him and he happens to be sad (not that he’s that happy the others day but ok). On the contrary, I think it’s nice that he chooses to be vulnerable around her and having sex is a better coping mechanism than getting drunk

OK I keep seeing these "Sassy keeps finding Ted when he's sad, she's a bad person for wanting to fuck him when he's down in the dumps"

And truly, are all the people reblogging this under 20? Because there's this weird infantilization of Ted going on, like he's some high schooler getting seduced by the teacher's assistant or something.

Ted is a middle-aged man going through some tough times. He is not being preyed on, he is not being harmed. He, like pretty much every allosexual man on the planet, enjoys sex; he specifically enjoys sex with Sassy.

Sassy is not some conniving bitch who's exploiting or otherwise hurting Ted. She, like pretty much every allosexual woman on the planet, enjoys sex; she specifically enjoys sex with Ted.

Please for the love of fucking god knock it off with this "She should leave Ted alone!" Ted does not want Sassy to "leave him alone," as evidenced by Ted telling Sassy something that he possibly hasn't even told Rebecca yet. True, it's clear he doesn't want a romantic relationship with her, but that feeling is mutual, and they are still GOOD FRIENDS WHO LIKE AND TRUST EACH OTHER. There is nothing unhealthy or unethical about their relationship; just because they fuck doesn't mean they owe or expect anything more — or less — than friendship.

This show has been very careful to make its relatively few female characters into whole, interesting, and mostly good people (with the possible exception of Jane, who is clearly written as an excuse for Phoebe Walsh and Brendan Hunt to improv their scenes together and go hog wild). Disliking some of them is fine, everyone's got different tastes. But making up an entire sinister reason for Sassy to want to fuck Ted other than "he's cute, he's sweet and he's hung like a horse" is weird. (Aside from which, what... exactly is Sassy's nefarious plan, here? Having a satisfying orgasm or three?)

Plus, the puritanical thread through this is creepy as fuck. Casual sex is not unhealthy! One-night stands are a fine way to live your life! Fucking your friend is not inherently manipulative or wrong! Because I tell you what, if I had a friend like Sassy (or Ted!) who offered to fuck me when I was down in the dumps? I would buy them a little award that said "BEST PAL EVER" or something.

・And he basically cried throughout the movie, especially at the end. And then he asked what happens to them after they escape and you’re like ... “babe c’mon. It’s - they’ve literally written...”

・Actually really likes the show Outlander, like ... a lot. To the point that he binge watched it and wanted to dress up as Jamie Fraser for Halloween
