★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ The members of BELLADONNA have very different backgrounds, however, they are all connected through their organic love of MUSIC and performance. In the guide below, you will get to know the FIVE MEMBERS and how they later formed their band. ★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

From a young age, KO SARANG knew that she would become someone important. As the oldest child of four, she was a natural leader and was always parading her younger siblings in whatever schemes she created. She would learn how to play the piano from her mother, a music teacher, and that bonded them together. It was their special time and while her other siblings learned, she was the only one that remained interested in it as she grew older. Sarang aced all of her subjects with ease, not needing to apply herself beyond the bare minimum to achieve high marks and instead focused her time on music. Knowing how small the indie scene was, Sarang auditioned for SM Entertainment and passed their infamous SATURDAY audition on the third time.

Though her parents did not want to see her go, they allowed Sarang to join the company in 2017. In 2019, she would be revealed as a new SM ROOKIE and was rumored to debut alongside NINGNING in their newest girl group, which would debut as AESPA in 2020. For unknown reasons, she would not be chosen for the line-up and transfer to Mystic Story Entertainment, one of SM's subsidiaries. Wanting to create a second LUCY, Mystic would send SARANG and two of her fellow trainees to audition for Superband, though only Sarang would make it on the show.

While on Superband, SARANG would audition as a PIANIST and VOCALIST. However, due to BELLADONNA not having anyone that could play the drums, she volunteered to try it out and actually found it to be fun. She would be praised for the switch, however, a lot of work would need to be put into her skills before she would be considered "good". Wanting to prove herself, she remained dedicated and would form a close partnership with fellow contestant JIN JUNSEO, who taught Sarang everything she knows.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION.

Born. March 29, 2000 in Daejeon, South Korea.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

KIM WONHUI always wanted to be an idol. She dreamed of sharing the stage with the members of Girls Generation and Twice, her two favorite groups, and looking that beautiful on stage. However, due to her family's poor economic condition, she was unable to join one of the training academies and was going to give up on the dream until being street casted by Superbloom Media in 2015. She was supposed to debut as a member of CELATUM that next year, however, that would fall through as the higher-ups did not believe she was ready. Seeing that she needed something else to help stand out against the other girls, she would learn anything she could get her hands on. From instruments to calligraphy, Wonhui worked day and night to prepare herself in every category of idolhood, even beginning to write her own music in 2018.

However, time seemed to tick on and WONHUI was left in the dust by her company. She made her first public appearance as a trainee on TIMEFIGHTER in 2021, but was eliminated quickly and sent back to the training faculties with no corrections. They just believed that her time had not "come" yet, whatever that meant. She would spend the next two years considering her next moves. The trainee debt was the reason that she stayed, knowing that her parents would not be able to pay such drastic fees and remains under the company, hoping that they would just make her an in-house producer or something.

After EIGHT years of training, Superbloom sent her on Superband to represent their company, though it was never confirmed until after the show had finished airing. Due to this "advantage", many fans believe that BELLADONNA's win was rigged due to Wonhui being under them already and how much sway Superbloom Media had over the show. Superbloom and WONHUI would never acknowledge this, but it is a frequent debate amongst Doves and other fandoms on Twitter.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION.

Born. May 10, 2000 in Jeju City, Jeju, South Korea.

HAENA BAE was a difficult child for her single mother. Born right as Elena Bae lost her job and her boyfriend, she was forced to return to Seattle, Washington under the care of her parents. She was never able to get into contact with Haena's father again, leaving her truly alone in this world as she struggled to find another job due to the economic crash. She tried to give Haena the best life, however, that was lost on the girl as she spent her entire childhood jealous of her classmates. After begging, she was allowed to rent the school's flute and join their music program while in the third grade, wanting to fit in with her best friends at the time. This desire to fit in would follow Haena as she grew older, leading to very troublesome teen years.

At the age of fifteen, she was invited to her first basement party by an upperclassmen boy and would continue down a tough spiral of partying every weekend. By the time she was eighteen, she was forced to get help by her mother and had to take a gap year from university to stop her habits from developing into an addiction. Her only moment of peace was attending her best friend's garage band performances, where she would learn the bass from IMOGEN, who would later become her girlfriend.

Imogen would become her reason to get help and by 2020, she was completely sober and seemed happy with her life. However, this would be ruined by Imogen cheating while at university, which HAENA chose not to attend for her own health. After months of sulking, she took a trip to visit her mother's sister in Seoul and immediately fell in love with the city. Not long after, she would move in with her aunt and get a job as a English teacher's aid at a local preschool. While there, she would rediscover her love of music and push herself to get back out there. She saw Plastic Flowers during their early days at Cheeky's and knew that she would be up there one day. She signed up for the third season of Superband in their BASS category and due to her unique playing style, would be sought after by many musicians before being taken by Yulli.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION.

Born. July 29, 2001 in Seattle, Washington, United States of America.

KIM EULSUN, born on March 1, 2002, was supposed to inherit her family's travel empire. She was promised the company and much more from a young age by her father, however, when he died in 2015 and left the business in the hands of her older step-brother, Eulsun moved in with her maternal grandparents. The move was hard on the girl as she went from living lavishly to having to help support them and their failing restaurant in the countryside. Her mother had been born into the poor family but due to her intelligence and beauty, made a name for herself in the business world and that was where she met Eulsun's father. However, her mother would die of breast cancer when Eulsun was seven and her father was quick to remarry, fracturing Eulsun's relationship with them. Rather than spending time with his only daughter, she was pawned off to nannies and other caretakers, who seemed to care more about Eulsun than her father did.

While living with her grandparents, Eulsun would learn how to play the piano from her grandfather and discovered that she did have a real passion—music. She would continue learning and discovering new artists, trying to listen to a new album every single day in 2019. However, she knew that music was not going to lead her into a good career path. If she was lucky, she could make it, but there seemed to be nothing for her. She went back to SEOUL to study business and try to recreate her mother's dreams of owning her own beauty company. During her time at university, she would join the band SWEET TRIP, which operated on weekends and was not a serious venture for any of the members until 2023.

Her bandmate, YEEUN, would be the one to propose their appearance on SUPERBAND. She had seen what it had done for bands like Plastic Flowers, The Rose, and Lucy and knew that they were talented enough to appear on the show. Though all four members auditioned to be on Superband, only Eulsun and Yeeun were chosen to represent them on the show. Eulsun would be apart of the GUITARIST category, though she was heavily praised for her vocals from the initial audition.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

KWAK YULLI was born on November 22, 2002 in Daejeon, South Korea as the third and final child in her family, which was composed of her parents and two older sisters—Yura and Yulhui. Compared to most of her members, she would grow up well with her mother being an English literature professor at a local university and her father former lawyer but dropped down to paralegal after Yulli was born. Given her parent's professions, it's no surprise that academics were highly praised in their household. However, Yulli would be diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven and be placed in a separate reading class to help build her skills. Despite this, Yulli was known for her optimistic and bright personality, becoming a very popular member of her classes due to how kind she was.

As part of an exchange program, Yulli would move to the suburbs of Montréal, Quebec, Canada from the ages of ten to fourteen. Her mother wanted all of her children to have a grasp on the English language and saw immersion as the best way to go about it. Due to her dyslexia, English would prove to be much harder for Yulli than Korean and she would be placed in extra English classes by the school. Though her older sisters raved about the experience and program, the same could not be said about Yulli. She stayed with a very traditional Roman Catholic family, who would place her in their choir program where she learned to sing. Rather than feeling welcomed by the family, she felt like a burden and recalls often feeling left out and made to feel "different" from them.

In 2016, Yulli would return to her parents in Daejeon as a much different person. Rather than smiling brightly and radiating happiness, she would lock herself in her bedroom and blare loud music to drown everything out. She would purchase her first guitar that same year, which became her solace and her prized possession. For years, she would just write poems and the beginnings of lyrics without ever doing anything with them. In 2020, she would tune into the second season of SUPERBAND and begin pushing herself to make more music.

Yulli began posting on every social media website that she could find and formed a small community of fans, primarily female, that loved her raw lyrics and simple instrumentals. When Superband's THIRD season was announced in late 2022, she made it her goal to get on and show everything she had. Her parents, surprisingly, supported her dream after seeing how much happier music seemed to make her than traditional studies. In 2023, she would be introduced to the public in the VOCALIST category of Superband, quickly becoming a fan favorite, and was the mastermind behind the formation of BELLADONNA.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION.

Oh wow you actually give quite good advice. Got any advice for highschoolers? I just started my freshman year (although probably some advice won’t be terribly applicable since the entire school is 25 people and my class is 4 kids, but it’s worth a shot. Also it might help other people.)

YES! I DO! So I went to a year and a half of high school before moving up to college and I HATED it. Here are some tips that would have made it suck less.

Learn to have a thicker skin. Easier said than done, I KNOW, but if someone says something mean to you, you can't let it bother you forever. Accept that they're just an asshole or are insecure and taking it out on others, and move on. Your worth is not defined by what some 14 year old bitch says about you.

It is not lame to have a good relationship with teachers! Talk to them, hang out with them during lunch, don't care what anyone else thinks.

Pack yourself a lunch every single day. Its healthier and you'll have more time to hang out during lunch.

Get involved! Join clubs, do student government or debate, do cast or crew for the fall musical. I did costumes for my freshman fall musical, and it's how I met one of my best friends who is still my best friend almost 5 years later (if you're reading this, you know who you are. ily <3)

Don't feel pressured to dress a certain way for fashion trends. I was a freshman in 2019/2020 so vsco girl/cottage core/""alt"" (that wasn't even really alternative) were very popular and I basically didn't wear any of my favorite clothes for a while. Just do what makes you happy.

Get a 504 or an IEP (educational/school accommodation plans) if you need one. They're life savers (if anyone wants another post on what was on my 504 for accommodations, lmk!)

Your body is inevitably going to change. Most people gain weight when they're in high school. Despite being a teenager, you are still a CHILD. Your body isn't going to look like an instagram model's. Don't let it get to you.

Always carry around pads or tampons with you. Even if you don't have periods. You never know when you or someone you know will get a surprise period.

Bring deodorant in your backpack every day. You will need it, even if you apply it in the morning.

Don't be that person who puts on heavy perfumes or body sprays in class. Just don't.

Take honors/AP classes if you can! They're honestly not that much more difficult and they look great on your record.

Do every single extra credit assignment!

Use google docs for everything

Take notes in every class, even if you already know the subject and notes aren't required.

Learn to study in high school, even if you don't need to. You WILL need to study in college and it's good to already know your studying style.

Take lots of photos! Even if you are insecure. You don't have to look at them, but someday you'll want to have them. I was deeply insecure in high school and have barely any photos of myself, and I deeply regret that.

You know those posts that are like "life may suck but at least I'm not 15 again"? Those posts are real. High school is NOT AT ALL the best years of your life, despite what everyone may tell you. Things can always get better.

Try not to date much in high school. Statistically, you are not going to marry your freshman year partner. Even if you think they're "the one", don't take it super seriously. You both have a lot of developing to do.

DO NOT EVER IN YOUR LIFE DATE A SENIOR AS A FRESHMAN. YOU ARE NOT MATURE FOR YOUR AGE. IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU COOL. THEY ARE NOT DIFFERENT OR SPECIAL. A 17/18 YEAR OLD HAS ABSOLOUTLEY NO BUSINESS DATING A 14/15 YEAR OLD. DO NOT GO THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a LOT of pressure to lose your virginity in high school. That is bullshit. It's okay to not have sex until later. It's okay to never have sex. Anyone who tries to pressure you or tell you otherwise, is NOT someone you want in your life. The right sexual partner will respect your boundries and not try to pressure you into anything.

Here's an old short story I wrote around 2020 during quarantine because I'm trying to get back into writing fiction and coming back to this will hopefully motivate me (also I still really like it) 🩵✨

Remy Tintenfisch, scientist

Word count: 1925

“Wow, look at that one!” The kid’s friend rushed at his side to look at the tiny shark in the aquarium, gaping at it until their teacher, Miss Katelyn, ushered them along with the rest of the group. The trip was going fairly well considering it had only been planned a few days prior. A friend of hers, Marceline, had called her a few days prior to offer her class a trip to the aquarium where she worked. Katelyn, of course, had accepted: it would do the kids wonders to get out of school for a while, and they tended to learn better when things were presented in a lighter, funnier way. The trip, however, had been a hassle to plan, what with only a few days ahead. But they had pulled it off, and the kids were having fun, so Katelyn could only assume it was worth it. When she’d asked Marceline what the occasion was, she’d said one of her newest colleges wanted to give some kids a visit to interest them in marine science. Both women agreed it was a good idea, and there they were. The said colleague, Remy, was supposed to meet them in the hall, which is where she was trying to get her twenty-two kids at the moment.

“Are you sure you’ll be ok Remy?” asked Marc. He nodded, his notes in hand already, a nervous smile plastered on his sweaty face. “It’ll be fine, you’ll see,” said Marceline. Remy only nodded again before getting out into the hall just in time to spot the flock of children circling the big central aquarium. The only adult of the group quickly approached, ushering the small kids along with her. Her shoulder slumped as soon as they reached him. “Remy, is it? I’m Katelyn,” she said, shaking his hand. Her touch didn’t linger on his moist skin, and she lowered her voice, shooting him a sympathetic look. “Nervous?” He stiffly nodded. “It’s ok, they’re not too hard to entertain,” she assured, gesturing to the kids, most of which were already flocking against the aquarium’s cold glass. Remy’s legs were shaking and he stumbled a bit on his way to the kids, smiling weakly. If one was really honest too, they’d say he wasn’t walking very straight, though it was probably the stress.

“This is a first,” Marceline had said. “Is it? Does the aquarium never do those kinds of visits?” “Oh no, they do, I meant for Remy. See, he’s a foreigner, so his English isn’t always very good, and he has never been able to work up the courage to make a visit himself. He’s really easily understandable, mind you, he’s just a bit self-conscious.” “Oh, of course, don’t worry, I’ll give the kids a word about it, make sure they won’t make rude comments.” Marceline had smiled.

“Hello, small human children!” Remy cheerily greeted. At once, most of the little heads turned to him, some lingering, some returning to their observation of the octopus lazily resting on a rock not far from the glass. “I am Remy, the scientist in octopus science,” he continued. “Do you want to hear some fun octopus facts?” “Like what?” asked one of the kids still staring at him. “Like octopus can squeeze through one-inch holes!” A boy next to him made an approximation of an inch with his fingers and turned back to Remy: “No way, that's too little!” Before Remy even had time to open his mouth, a small girl staring at the octopus made a small circle with her fingers and held it between her eye and the animal, closing the other to see through it. “I think I can imagine it,” she said. Remy smiled, wriggling his hands. “Do you know anything else?” asked another child. Remy grinned. “Of course! I know lot about octopus, me! Is there anything you special want know about?” The kid hummed. “Where are the others? I thought there'd be more than one.” “Plenty octopus here! You just can not see !” “How come?” “Octopus can change color and shape for disguise like predator or rock or scientist in octopus science laboratory!” A kid farther back squinted at Remy, though he was too busy listening to the excited children babbling excitedly and trying to spot the disguised octopi to notice. The kid, Marcus, turned to his friend and whispered: “He’s very weird, isn’t he?” “Miss Katelyne told us about that,” his friend Luke whispered back. “It’s because english isn’t his language.” “Not only that, he’s just plain weird.” Luke shrugged, closing the conversation, as Marcus continued observing the scientist.

The group was now walking leisurely around the central aquarium, allowing the children to observe more octopi. “Tell us another thing about octopus Mister Remy please!” Remy stifled a laugh. “Ok, did you know octopus has three hearts?” The children gasped. “No way,” some whispered. “Also, octopus blood is blue!” “Is it?” Remy nodded. “Say, how many octopus do you have here?” Katelyn asked. “Well, we have seventeen here in octopus science laboratory.” “I can’t see the seventeenth though…” said one of the kids after counting. “Maybe that’s because we couldn’t spot him in his disguise,” tried her teacher. “Oh no no,” said Remy, “you have seen all of them.” “Then how come I counted sixteen?” “Ah, that is because science octopus is missing, no one knows where is,” answered Remy, laughing. “Why is it so funny to you,” asked Marcus as some of his classmates giggled. “Isn’t it your job to make sure they're all there?” “Of course it is human child! But some time, even scientist in octopus science laboratory has slip ups! And should not worry because octopus will be found eventually! Is not like octopus could overthrow human leader!” The kids giggled at his little joke, even Marcus cracked a smile, though he still wasn’t sure about the guy.

The following day, as per usual, Remy was the first on the premises. He was preparing the laboratory for a very important guest. The place was spotless. As the man leading (and paying for) the research arrived at the meeting room, Remy set out to look after his assistant, a tiny robot, which would not be needed during the meeting. As Remy was new, he did not partake in it either. He sat on the floor, his back against the aquarium, the robot at his side. They stayed in companionable silence for a while before Remy asked: “Want hear some fun octopus facts?” The robot was silent for so long the robot didn’t seem like it was going to answer, but at last it did. “Why not?” “Octopus can squeeze through one-inch holes. They also change color and shape for disguise like predator or rock or scientist in octopus science laboratory. Octopus has blue blood and three hearts too.” The robot made a low beeping noise. “Now is your turn for tell me some human facts,” Remy said to the robot. “For example: how many arm does human leader have?” The robot started to beep out an answer but was interrupted as its owner came out of the meeting room. “And good luck with finding that missing one! It can’t have gotten too far.” He waved to Remy, who waved back, and the robot took off after him, leaving Remy alone besides the aquarium. He tilted his head back to look at the octopus swimming behind him. He opened his mouth to speak but quickly closed it as his colleague Marceline got out of the meeting room too. She came to sit beside him. "Sorry you couldn't assist. It's the procedure and all you know, it's a security thing." "It is quite ok, I don't mind. I think I understand too. Wouldn't want important information to go to bad person." She smiled. "Quite right, though I don't think you're a bad person Remy." He laughed lightly. "You don't know that." She laughed with him. "Well no, but I've been told I'm skilled at reading people." His laugh quieted out as he turned to look at her. She followed suit. "What?" "Nothing," he answered. "You are not bad person either." She grinned.

The monitors were beeping calmly before him as he nursed a coffee pitcher in his hands. "Remy, there you are!" Remy jumped. The pitcher slipped from his hands and fell to the floor, sharp pieces flying around. He turned to face the source of the sound, which was no other than Marceline. "I'm so sorry! Wait, let me help you!" "No need, no need, I am fine!" "No really, let me help, it's my fault." "No matter no matter, I will handle it." After a bit more pushing, she hung back silently as Remy picked up the shards. He threw some of them away, painfully aware of Marceline's gaze on his back. His hand too was painful and he looked around for something to cover the dripping wound with. He grabbed a cloth besides the cup holder and tied it around his wound, biting back a gasp as pain shot through his arm. "Are you ok? You got cut didn't you?" Marceline took a step forward. "At least let me help with that." Remy turned back around, holding his injured hand. "No need, look! It is fine!" "Are you sure?" He nodded as he bent down once more, picking up the last glass shards littering the floor. "Is there anything I can do?" He mulled it over as he looked up at her. "We should vacuum. So we are sure no glass is left." She nodded, scurrying to the janitor's closet to retrieve a vacuum.

At closure, Remy was the last to pack up. After he closed the lab, he rolled the legs of his pants and climbed the stairs to the aquarium. Before that, he had set his stuff in the vent closest to them. He took off his bandage to let the wound breathe and settled on the edge, his feet dangling in the water. Multiple octopi were swarming around him. One of them looked worriedly at the blue dripping slowly into the water as he recalled his day to them.

Bonus

The president climbed on stage under the people’s applause. His sweat glistened under the spots. “Hello fellow humans. I would like to thank all you for support during elections. As newly appointed human leader, I would like remind you all of the new regulation concerning sea-life. As you know, I previously was scientist in octopus science laboratory. Hence, this subject is very dear to my hearts.” As he was finally getting some water backstage, the applause still ringing in the air, a woman made his way to the president, escorted by two guards. “Mr Tintenfisch, your wife wanted to see you.” He motioned for them to take their leave, and she spoke as they did, embracing him. “You did it love!” Remy smiled, relaxing in her arms. “I would not have been able without you, Marceline.” After basking in Marceline’s warm hug for another moment, he asked: “Do you think they have suspicions?” She took her time to answer, weighing her words. “Maybe. Even if they do, I’m sure they won’t mind my sweet octopus.”

Cutie Mark Story: When Honeycomb was around 12 years old, they went on a fieldtrip with their fellow classmates to a nearby nursery, where they, with the help of a chaperone, were allowed to magically plant a seedling of their own. 

At the end of the day, each foal went home with their sapling, nestled inside one of the many clay pots they’d painted earlier in the afternoon. Honey, unfortunately, was stuck with puniest sprout in the group, and assumed it’d only last a couple days at most.

Even so, the gentle student followed every instruction provided by their teacher in the hopes that their tiny tree would somehow survive. Miraculously, after a year of nursing the seedling back to life, it somehow managed to be the only plant in the class to survive the harsh winter (their other classmates either didn’t care or weren’t diligant enough to keep theirs alive). 

It was at this point Honeycomb realized that caring for nature was their passion—their destiny, and with that came a blinding flash of light, followed by a brand new cutie mark.

Happy 98th birthday Scottish comedy great Stanley Baxter born in Glasgow May 24th 1926.

Stanley was a child actor who started his career in radio on the Scottish edition of BBC Children’s Hour.

After gaining a degree at the University of Glasgow, he joined the entertainment services during national service where he met comedy actor Kenneth Williams and film director John Schlesinger. Their influence persuaded him to become a performer rather than a teacher.

He returned to Glasgow and spent the next three years at the Citizens Theatre, where he was highly successful, and later appeared in panto with Jimmy Logan. He left Scotland in 1959 to work in television.

He won a Bafta for light entertainment in 1959, for co-hosting the satirical sketch show On the Bright Side. He won two years running, in 1973 and 1974, for The Stanley Baxter Picture Show, and again in 1981 for The Stanley Baxter Series.

Some of his best-loved comedy sketches include Parliamo Glasgow, in which the Glaswegian dialect was presented as a foreign language. It included phrases such as “Izat a marra on yer barra, Clara?” and the uniquely Glaswegian word “Sanoffy”, as in “Sanoffy cold day”.

He remained a favourite of the Scottish panto circuit, often playing the gloriously costumed dame alongside Angus Lennie, Jimmy Logan or Ronnie Corbett, until he retired in 1992.

In 1994 he returned to radio, appearing in plays and sitcoms. In 1997, he was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the British Comedy Awards. The Stanley Baxter Playhouse ran on Radio 4 from 2006 until 2014.

Even though he retired from TV comedy some 30 years ago, Stanley Baxter continues to hold a special place in the viewing nation’s heart.

He eats well, likes a glass of wine and enjoys a quiet domesticated life. Well into his 80s he was still cycling and swimming. Even when he was in the public eye, he shunned personal publicity, rarely doing interviews or appearing on chat shows.

In his retirement he has written an autobiography but refuses to allow it to be published until after his death, not apparently because it contains any hugely scandalous stories of his celebrity friends, but because he didn’t fancy schlepping round the country doing promotional appearances, press interviews and book signings, let’s hope it is a good few years before it is released then!

A widower since 1997, he says he doesn’t find it difficult to fill his days. “You wonder how you ever had time to work,” he says.

“I miss talking to actors. I can relate to actors better than real people. I have so few friends left. "I suppose I’m a bit of a loner. I’m not the kind of person to drop in on the neighbours.”

In 2020 Stanley in an authorised biography, The Real Stanley Baxter told for the first time of his struggles to come to terms with his sexuality, his efforts to keep the fact that he is gay secret and the effect his troubled marriage had on his life.

The book charts the career of Baxter, who was born in Glasgow in 1926, from his early days as an entertainer in the Army, where he met Kenneth Williams. The Real Stanley Baxter explores the complex relationship with his wife Moira, his early sexual encounters as a teenager, and the strenuous efforts he made to maintain his privacy in later life, including taking legal action over the publication of the diaries of actor Kenneth Williams, a long-time friend, after he had passed away.

Baxter described his discomfort with his homosexuality in the book, writing: "Anybody would be insane to choose to live such a very difficult life. There are many gay people these days who are fairly comfortable with their sexuality, fairly happy with who they are. I’m not. I never wanted to be gay. I still don’t."

Drama Teacher Accused of Bullying Disabled Students at CSAS @ NE HS

Oklahoma City, OK – Mrs. Lauren Peck-Weisenfels, the drama teacher at Classen School of Advanced Studies at North East High School, has come under scrutiny for allegations of bullying and discriminatory behavior towards autistic and physically disabled students. The claims have ignited concerns about the treatment of vulnerable students in the school’s drama department.

A Troubled Past

Four years ago, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels was a teacher at Classen School of Advanced Studies Middle School. During a virtual class in 2020, she allegedly expressed disdain for teaching autistic and special education students, stating, "I hate teaching autistic & special Ed students!" This remark, reportedly overheard by the mothers of two seventh-grade students, prompted complaints to the school administration.

Despite these allegations, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels was later transferred to the high school, where she continued to teach drama. Concerns about her behavior persisted as students from her middle school classes advanced to high school and found themselves once again under her instruction.

Current Allegations

This school year, a sophomore student who had previously encountered Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels in middle school was placed in her class due to limited elective options. According to the student and their mother, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels continued to exhibit unkind and discriminatory behavior. The student, who is physically disabled, was allegedly ridiculed for their inability to keep up with costume-making tasks and was marginalized within the class.

In February 2024, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels emailed the student's mother, stating her intention to fail the student for wearing headphones in class, even though the student was not being disruptive. The email hinted that Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels felt slighted by the student’s lack of engagement, which the mother attributes to previous verbal and emotional abuse.

The Role of Headphones for Autistic Students

Headphones are a critical tool for many autistic individuals, particularly teenagers, to manage sensory overload. Studies show that about 87% of autistic individuals experience sensory sensitivities. Headphones can help mitigate overwhelming sounds, enabling students to focus better and participate in classroom activities more comfortably.

Despite this, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels reportedly expressed a desire to fail the student for wearing headphones in class. This attitude reflects a lack of understanding and accommodation for the needs of autistic students, who often use such tools to navigate their environment effectively.

May Incident and Unreported Bullying

In May 2024, tensions escalated further when Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels threatened to fail the student over a makeup project, despite the student attending their grandmother's funeral. This incident, while serious, was not formally reported at the time.

Additionally, another student, who uses a cane due to a physical disability, has been subjected to bullying by Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels and her entourage of students. The bullying has occurred behind the student's back and included mockery of their use of a cane and their social media activities, particularly on Tumblr. These actions were not reported until the evening of May 17, 2024, when the student with headphones informed their mother about the incidents.

The May 17 Incident

On May 17, 2024, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels and a group of students allegedly taunted the aforementioned student in her office, calling them "lazy," "deaf," "ditzy," "slow," "stupid," and "a hindrance to the drama department." Believing the student couldn’t hear due to their headphones, the group reportedly yelled the student's name mockingly. The student, however, overheard everything but chose not to engage.

The same day, Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels reportedly threw a tantrum, slamming items around the classroom in an attempt to provoke a reaction from the student, who continued to ignore her.

Perpetuating Ableism and Discriminatory Rhetoric

Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels’ behavior is not only harmful to the targeted students but also perpetuates ableist and discriminatory rhetoric among her student entourage. By encouraging and participating in the mockery of disabled students, she is teaching her followers to normalize and perpetuate these harmful attitudes. According to psychological studies, teenagers are highly impressionable, and the behavior modeled by authority figures can significantly influence their beliefs and actions.

The Psychology of Living Vicariously Through Teenagers

Research indicates that some adults feel the need to live vicariously through teenagers, seeking approval and acting like them to fulfill unmet emotional needs or relive their own youth. This behavior can be particularly detrimental when exhibited by educators, as it blurs the boundaries between professional and personal interactions. Statistics show that about 30% of adults who exhibit this behavior struggle with identity issues and seek validation through younger individuals.

For teenagers, witnessing an adult, especially an educator, behave in such a manner can lead to confusion, loss of respect for authority, and the normalization of inappropriate behavior. This can contribute to a culture of bullying and exclusion, as students may mimic the adult's actions to gain favor or avoid becoming targets themselves.

The normalization of such discriminatory behavior can have lasting effects, contributing to a culture of intolerance and bullying. Studies indicate that witnessing or participating in bullying can lead to increased aggression, anxiety, and a distorted sense of empathy among youths. It is crucial to address these issues to prevent the spread of abusive behaviors and to promote a supportive and inclusive environment.

Parental Actions and School Response

Following these events, the student with the headphones relayed the incidents to their mother after school on May 17. The mother promptly contacted Kendall Stills with OKCPS via text message, though no response was received. That evening, the mother filed a formal TIPS report with Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS), detailing the history of bullying and including screenshots as evidence. She also contacted the parents of the student with the cane, encouraging them to email Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels and file a formal TIPS report. The mother included the names of the students in Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels' entourage and mentioned her own student in the report to help corroborate the incidents.

The parents involved are currently awaiting a response from OKCPS. Given that next week marks the last few days of the school year, it is uncertain when or if a resolution will be reached. The allegations against Mrs. Peck-Weisenfels highlight broader issues of inclusivity and respect for disabled students within the educational system.

Broader Implications

The situation at Classen School of Advanced Studies raises important questions about the responsibility of educators to create a supportive and nondiscriminatory environment for all students, particularly those with disabilities. The summer solstice. The longest day of sunlight in the whole year.

I remember that you used to force me to stay awake, and savor every drop of sunlight. Some years we spent it at the beach, some in the backyard, some on the roof of the twins house. It didn’t matter where we spent it, as long as we were together.

Amber picked up on our plans. She now makes me spend the day with her, holding her hand at the county fair and riding the tilt-a-whirl until I get ill. I hate spinning. But it makes her happy.

Dear Sam,

It’s been a muggy, humid summer. I can’t go outside without my hair sticking to my face and my clothes damp. It’s disgusting.

The bad news is, our air conditioner is broken. Has been since early July. Mom never paid the bill, so the city shut it off. I’ve been working non stop at the local Dairy Queen, but surprise surprise. Minimum wage doesn’t pay shit. It’s not like I can do anything with my checks anyways. Most of it goes to house bills.

Luckily Amber lets me sleep over. I’ve been practically living there. It’s been nice, being in a house where mothers act like mothers, and fathers stay. Plus the dinners and A/C. It’s been nice.

I hope wherever you are, you have air conditioning. And popsicles. I know you like Helado de coco. Papi used to pick those up from the taquería on the way home from work. You used to spill it everywhere and get me all sticky when you hugged me.

Dear Sam,

Junior year is kicking my ass. I can’t remember the last time school challenged me this much.

You were always so good at school. So bright. So good at math and science. Unlike you though, I am a whizz at English. Seriously! I can write like no other.

I’m now the Chief Editor of the newspaper. Ms. Smith put a lot of faith in me to be able to handle a staff. I'm not very good at it. Leading people isn’t very natural for me. It is for you, though.

Chad is the captain of the football team, Mindy the captain of the debate club. Amber was made captain of the forensics team. We’re all growing up, Sam.

The kids you used to spend so much time doting on, feeding, changing; are all grown. Not really. I won’t be eighteen for a bit. But still.

I hope you know we think of you everyday. I do at least. Chad likes to talk about the sleepovers you held for us, and Mindy wishes you were here to help with calculus. Amber gets an odd look when we talk about you, but I don’t care enough to ask.

Mindy stuffed so many balloons in my locker, that when I opened it, a bunch exploded. That wasn’t a very fun principal office experience.

It wasn’t my first time there, though. I try to keep my nose clean, but I still sniff after danger. I mean, you left me Sam. I know what you did in high school. The teachers know.

I want some danger, too. I want to know what it was like for you to disappear and leave me. I want to know what forced you to leave me.

Dear Sam,

It’s been a minute. I’m sorry. Time has moved so fast, but also, not at all.

Chad won state of the basketball team. A buzzer-beater shot. Whatever that means. He picked me up and spun me around after he won. There’s a photo in the newspaper of it. I don’t like him like that, but he's my brother. I love him like that.

Mindy took the debate team to nationals. They got second place. I watched her on the shitty livestream. She was incredible Sam. You would’ve been so proud. She’s always been a genius argumentalist. Ever since she was young.

Amber won first in her forensics division. Something about stab victims and their criminal family. It creeped me out how much eye contact she made with me. I didn’t love that.

I just write for the newspaper and sling ice cream.

I passed ⅘ of my tests. Failed the physics one. No surprise there. I skipped that class at least three times a week.

I’m almost done with Junior year. And then I’ll be a senior. One step closer to leaving.

We didn’t have heating or a/c through the past few seasons. I can’t make enough money to keep us afloat. Mom works, but she’s out of the country more often than not. And gas bills are not forgiving, let me tell you that.

I’m moving into Amber’s house for the summer. I can’t survive another couple of months dying from sweating.

Hey babe! I always like to share my HC's with you~

So, back in 2020 I saw this thing on tiktok called "Shifting" so, bet, I made my script but I kept changing it over and over again bc I wanted it to go according to the jjk manga, like a self insert. Then, I decided to change things and make it more of my own story.

Yn was a foreigner student, another Gojo's adopted child from one of his missions and one day he decided to bring yn to Japan to train her because it was so hard to train when you live so far away (plus he misses your baked sweets). So the day yn arrives to Japan, she takes the wrong bus and ends up in the wrong city, at the wrong time and place. But was it really wrong?

Yn ends up in front of a school, and looks at a pink haired boy with a yellow hoodie. They locked eyes and then she senses the cursed energy and dashes inside the school to help the dark haired, emo— and pretty as hell, sorcerer. Her own cursed technique was magic, like a witch. (Let's fast foward that scene.)

So, when Yuji eats the finger and Gojo arrives and blah, blahnik, blah, yn makes a spell to unbound Sukuna from Yuuji... and it doesn't work like she intended to. Yeah, she separated them, but kept them bound like attuned twins, but she accidentally bound herself to Sukuna as well, which he hated and wanted to kill her for it. And tried to, only to find out you actually got great combat skills and you could harm him without cursed energy. Making the king of curses begrudgingly obsessed with yn.

Sukuna ends up— forcibly and begrudgingly, as a Jujutsu teacher along with his now best friend and leech, Gojo Satoru. The bound Yuuji, Sukuna and yn shares forces him not to hurt you two, and the curse ends up liking the modern world.

Sukuna being the lowkey Tsundere he is, would follow yn everywhere, would make the training sessions longer, know all your favorite foods and places where you dissapear to. He is rough, insults you constantly, flicks your forehead when you get distracted, when you do something reckless, when you eat too much junk food because he cares— he cares so much and he hates it. He hates you and how he can't actually hate you. He hates how kind and warm you are to him, how you always want to know about his past and no matter how disgusting and atrocious his actions were, you don't judge him and say "I won't judge you from your past, we only have the present moment and so far, you've been nice, Sukuna." You say grinning and the king of curses flickers your forehead "dumb brat" he mumbles and dashes away so you can't see his furious blush. Sukuna, who enjoys your banters and constant insults, how feisty you are and how you're not afraid of him. Sukuna who lowkey loves when you touch him, even if it was a quick brush.

Sukuna who hates when yn hangs out too much with Gojo or Megumi, mostly when you left for missions with them. Sukuna who only tolerates Yuuji to be by your side because he knows what goes into his mind and you're just his twins best friend— both of you dumb with barely one brain cell together. Sukuna who is proud as fuck with your perfect grades and when the higher ups ascended you to first grade sorcerer. Sukuna who often tugs down the hem of your skirt because you're dragging too much attention, or he would walk behind you. Sukuna who is a gentleman. Sukuna who often tucks you to bed "I'm doing this because you're too dumb to do it yourself, woman."

Sukuna, who took a long time to even accept his feelings— let alone confess to you. Sukuna, who the first time he had sex with you, it was slow, gentle, almost as if he was worshipping you. No. He was worshipping you. How a pretty, small and kind creature like you could help him redeem himself (he is still an arrogant asshole though), how can he not worship you all night long? He can't help but whimper when he slides inside of yn, he never knew until that moment how lonely his life was, how much he craved to feel wanted, loved, accepted. Juliette is all about her family, and for her, family extends well beyond blood relations; a fact the ‘family tree’ corkboard she keeps in her home office proves beyond a shadow of a doubt. Juliette suffers from mixed astigmatism and has since she was seven. She does still wear her glasses, but usually only for her early morning/late evening routines or if she is planning to read for an extended period of time.

Juliette is an avid reader and has been for as long as she can remember, a trait encouraged by her mother and to a lesser degree, her father (He did not approve of her preferred genres, Fantasy & Sci-Fi). The only reason she did not apply for a job at a bookstore after she moved to New York was that she knew she’d end up spending her paycheque before she ever got it.

As much as she loves reading, Juliette loves writing even more and is never without one of her trademark orange journals in case inspirations strike; a tradition since one of her grade-school teachers gave her one so that she could save her notebooks for her schoolwork. Her greatest hope is to follow in the footsteps of her idols and became an author, sharing the worlds and characters that live in her mind on the pages of her journal in her legible-only-to-herself handwriting with everyone she can.

While Juliette’s idea of a perfect day is one spent curled up with a good book and a glass of her Grandmother’s sweet tea, she is also very active; jogging or biking wherever she goes when she can or for the thrill of the wind in her hair or just to burn off the near-endless supply of energy she always seems to have. When jogging or biking is not an option, Juliette can often be found dancing around her room (usually while making another attempt at straightening up the clothes, books, and various and sundry that end up inevitably strewn around any room Juliette spends enough time in) or working out at the nearest gym.

For all of her positivity and exuberant energy, Juliette has never been one to seek out attention, preferring the company of a small circle of close friends to parties full of strangers. At the same time, she will also happily talk the ear of a perfect stranger in a one-on-one situation. Especially if it looks like they will be stuck together for longer than 5 minutes.

Learning the truth about her Father affected Juliette more than even she has realized, far beyond simply learning that she has two more sisters in her life, one of whom is an actual movie star. After the initial fallout with her Mother—the single most important person in Juliette’s life up to that point—that followed in the wake of learning that Flora had been keeping the truth from her, and the disconnect with from her grandparents—especially her Grandmother—on learning the role they had played in all of this, family has become incredibly important to Juliette, a fact that has fed into her tenacious and headstrong nature and forced Juliette to reign in her desire for stronger connection with her family—especially her new found siblings—on multiple occasions with mixed results

With Quinn’s marriage to Rachel, Juliette officially gained a sister and a niece, in Rachel and Moriah respectively, and though the sudden ceremony robbed her of her promised role of Bridesmaid, Juliette is happy to welcome both into the Fabray family.

Her non-human family has also expanded since coming to New York. Over the last few years it has seen the addition of several four-legged members: a pet mini-pig, Mrs. Porkers—a 20th birthday gift from Quinn, followed a year later by a puppy, Sir Woofers—a 21st birthday gift from another friend, with the most recent additions being a second dog, Mary Puppins—a Christmas gift from another friend, & a painted wood turtle, Shelly—a 22nd birthday gift from Quinn.

On the professional front, what started out as a gift for a friend’s daughter soon lead to Juliette realizing her lifelong dream of becoming a published author when the collection of stories based loosely on her own childhood adventures with her very best stuffed friend, Mr. Porkers gained the attention of a publisher. After months of late nights and early mornings spent writing and re-writing the first book while trying to maintain some semblance of balance between her schoolwork, her job at The Right Tone, and her personal life—all while maintaining her perpetually bubbly personality—the first book in the series, ‘The Amazing Adventures of Mr. Porkers’, hit shelves to generally positive reviews on March 15th, 2019. The second book, ‘The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. Porkers’, was released in 2020, with the third, ’The Spectacular Adventures of Mr. Porker’ following in 2021.

In addition to her published works, Juliette has recorded audiobooks of the Mr. Porkers series thus far. She also took a year’s hiatus from the Mr. Porkers series to join the writing staff for a TV Series headed up by one of her friends from University Sadly, after several months, the project was canceled mid-production. That, coupled with the sale of her first Non-Mr. Porkers book falling through shortly after the cancelation was announced triggered a crisis of faith in her writing abilities, and Juliette took the last few months of 2021 and the first several of 2022 traveling, visiting family and friends, and re-evaluating her goals.

2023 saw Juliette return to form with the publishing of the fourth—and penultimate— book in the Mr Porkers series, The Marvellous Adventures Of Mr. Porkers. The final book is expected sometime in 2024, though neither an exact date or title has been announced. With the end of this era in her life, 2024 looks to be an interesting—and potentially life changing—year for Juliette.

↪ IMPORTANT CONNECTIONS:

RUSSEL FABRAY (Father): Juliette was never that close to her father, in part because he was always traveling ‘on a business’ when she was younger, and in part, because she was always closer to her mother, Flora. Since learning the truth of Russel’s double life and his other family, he has become persona non grata in her life and certain events since have only reinforced that position, prompting Juliette to all but eliminate any trace of him from her life as much as possible with the primary exception being her last name. Thankfully she has yet to come into contact with him since learning the truth and Juliette hopes that it stays that way as she’s not sure she wouldn’t physically attack the man on sight. FLORA DEVEREAUX (Mother): While Juliette has always felt closer to her Mother than her father, once she discovered that Russel had another family—complete with two sisters she knew nothing about— and that Flora knew, her relationship with her mother suffered for several weeks but eventually her love for her Momma won out and the two are now as close as they ever were, if not closer. Juliette even dedicated her first book to her Mother. AVERY FABRAY (Older Sister): In spite of their age difference, Juliette has always been a little bit closer to her sister than her brother, but with Avery and Daniel being twins, spending time with one almost inevitably meant spending time with both. At least that’s how Juliette remembers her early years of toddling after her big sister when she wasn’t toddling after Flora. Now that both have grown up and headed out on their own, their relationship is growing into one of equals. At least Juliette hopes it is, though there is still a little bit of that  Big Sister worship going on. DANIEL FABRAY (Older Brother): Like Avery, the age difference between Juliette and Daniel was something that the two would learn to outgrow over the years, and despite the usual residual Big Brother/Little Sister issues, Juliette considers their relationship much stronger now than it ever was when they were children. QUINN FABRAY (Older Half-Sister): After Juliette discovered the existence of her Father’s other family through a series of suspicious coincidences during an online conversation with Quinn, the two have built up a relationship in a surprisingly short period of time. It hasn’t always been easy or smooth, but when Quinn asked Juliette to be one of her Bridesmaids, it was a request Juliette was more than happy to say yes to (and one she still hasn’t entirely forgiven Quinn taking away from her when Quinn and Rachel eloped without warning). But despite the occasional upset–and Quinn’s tendency to ‘overshare’ parts of her personal life, at least as far as Jules is concerned–Juliette had grown almost as close to Quinn as she is the with the Twins. We are documentary filmmakers who have filmed his story and care about him.

Joseph Kraus left his Hasidic Orthodox home in Kiryas Joel, New York, in November 2020 because he wanted to get an education. He was 17 but could barely speak English and certainly couldn’t read or write it.

To educate himself enough to prepare for his move, Joseph managed to buy a smartphone. Hiding in the woods behind his home, he spent hours each day Googling and watching YouTube videos to learn about the outside world. He started blindly calling social service organizations, using his limited English, trying to find somebody who could help him.

The only person who responded was the supervisor of a suicide hotline, who spent hours on the phone with him answering his questions.

When Joseph decided he was ready to leave, the supervisor advised him to go to Old Navy, buy some clothes, cut off his beard and side locks at a barber and check into a youth shelter in nearby Middletown, New York. At Old Navy, he purchased a pair of women’s pants by mistake, because he didn’t know there was a difference.

He spent the next few months in a series of shelters during the height of the pandemic, learning English by watching television. When he tried to attend public high school in upstate New York, he found he couldn’t understand what the teachers said. He told me that he didn’t even know the alphabet.

When he heard that jobs were available in Texas, he went from airline to airline at JFK, asking for the cheapest fare. This looked so suspicious that he was picked up by the police and taken to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation. Somehow, he found his way to Houston, where he hid all his belongings in some bushes and started looking for a job. He came back to find everything stolen.

We caught up with Joseph when he was in a foster care home in Galveston, just before his 18th birthday. When we interviewed Joseph on two occasions, we found him remarkably articulate and insightful about his situation. And yet, his life at this point — the life of a refugee without a safety net — was total chaos.

At one point, somebody gave him a room in an upstate New York hotel under construction. When that ended after just a few weeks, he found himself in a Wal-Mart parking lot at 4 a.m. near his hometown of Kiryas Joel.

Now Joseph is settled in upstate New York but the road ahead is steep. It will likely take him months or years to learn what he needs to get his GED or to read newspapers.

Documentary filmmakers are supposed to be objective observers of their subjects, but we found ourselves trying to help him out. We contacted synagogues, asking for volunteers who might want to serve as this young man’s advocate as he works his way through the social service system — without much luck.

Now we’ve found specialized literacy tutors at a major NYC university who have promised to help him, but we need to raise $5000 or more to fund this literacy project.

I started dipping into watercolors recently and I think its really important to show this image

The one on the left is me trying to swatch my watercolors that I got for my time at art school (2016-2020), so that was the grade of skill with them I had back them too. I just didnt understand them. I couldnt really apply what the teacher told me, I just couldnt figure it out. I always played with watercolors but It's basically the medium I suck at the most, one of the resons also being I work fast and impatiently, and watercolors are one of the slowest mediums (ironically, i specialized in oil painting, but the fact that the school hours kinda forced me to short sessions and to wait between them, it went way better lol).

The paper on the right is me swatching the same set. Barely two days later.

Only thing that changed was that I watched a couple of video tutorials on youtube.

So yeah. Maybe the only thing that's stopping you from getting better at something is because you never found the right teacher for you, or that it wasnt explained in a way that worked for your style of painting. But theres always time to improve. I'm finally understanding watercolors 3 years after finishing art school. It feels nice.

Oranges and Lemons Day

Oranges  and Lemons Day is annually commemorated on the third Thursday of March,  even when Easter or St. Patrick's Day is interjected, at St Clement  Danes Church in London.

History of Oranges and Lemons Day

The London rhyme is well known but what may be less known is that  since 1920 it has been commemorated at the first mentioned church, St  Clement Danes in the Strand, London.

This custom is related to Reverend William Pennington-Bickford, who  restored church bells so they could play the tune of the rhyme. On the  day they were blessed, they were also dressed in garlands of orange and  lemon. He decided that all the parades on the day the bells were fully  restored, March 31, 1920, a special service would be arranged and at the  end each child would receive an orange and a lemon from the community.  The city's Danish coin was distributed with Danish children dressed in  their national colors.

Since 1923, there were a lot of rhymes that were sung with music were  the child of Pennington-Bickford and his wife. The following year, the  broadcast became nationally known as it was broadcast nationally and  singing became a regular program.

In 1941 the church and its bells were damaged in a bomb explosion.  However, despite this, the tradition continued and in 1944, despite the  rations, 26 children received only one orange in the middle of the  ruined building.

Oranges are not the only fruit

The only time I attended a service was in 1994, when I went to church  and was greeted warmly. One of the teachers said that the best place to  watch the ceremony was on the balcony and from there I watched the  well-dressed children getting ready. At the start of the service, a  group of parishioners played the tune on the bells again and the  ceremony began.

Honestly, I can't remember much about the actual service but I do  remember the kids taking part in a presentation. Sadly, it will be a  special year in 2020 - its 100th anniversary.

How to celebrate Oranges and Lemons Day

Oranges originated around 2500 BC in Asia. In ancient Europe, oranges  were grown mainly for medicinal purposes. As you know, Vitamin C is  still considered a great cold remedy to this day.

Did you know that lemon is actually a cross between citrus and sour  orange? Christopher Columbus is credited for carrying lemon and orange  seeds on his travels, thus introducing them throughout the New World.  Today, both lemons and oranges grow especially well in California and  Florida. Both of these fruits grow quite nicely in Arizona. Oranges here  have more seasons, grow well during the winter months and early spring,  and lemons can grow well year-round. In order to honor these fruits,  how about taking a look at some facts about each fruit.

Oranges:

Orange is a sweet, juicy citrus fruit. There are actually about 600  varieties of oranges, some of the most popular being Blood Orange, Navel  and Valencia.

Oranges are not known in the wild. Orange is a hybrid between mandarin and grapefruit.

Orange juice is the most popular juice in America, and oranges themselves are the fourth most popular fruit.

Brazil grows about a third of the world's oranges, with an output of 17.8 million tons per year.

About 85% of all oranges produced are used to make juice.

You can sprinkle orange peels on your vegetable garden as an effective slug repellent.

During their years of exploring the world, sailors planted orange  trees along their trade routes to prevent scurvy which disease will be  developed because there is a lack of vitamin C.

Orange is the third most loved flavor in the world, after chocolate and vanilla.

Warm weather can cause the skin of an orange to reabsorb the  chlorophyll, making it green again. However, don't let this stop you  from eating them, they still taste that great.

Oranges are rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants neutralize the  effects of free radicals in your body, which are believed to be  responsible for disease and aging. Therefore, why do not eat oranges to  be young and healthy!

Only one orange contains vitamin C for two days in fact.

Fruit comes out before color. It wasn't until 1542 that "orange" was first used as a name for a color.

Bitter oranges are used to make marmalade.

A larger navel produces a sweeter orange.

You can store oranges in the refrigerator with the room temperature.

Lemon:

Lemon trees will bear fruit all year round. Each tree can give us 500  to 600 pounds of lemons during a year. The most popular lemon varieties  include Eureka, Lisbon, and Meyer.

Lemon juice contains about 5-6% citric acid, which gives them a sour taste.

Arizona and California produce 95% of the entire US lemon crop.

Many years ago, kings used to give lemons to each other because they were once very rare.

Add the juice of one lemon to an equal amount of hot water to gargle against bacteria the next time you have a sore throat.

The grated rind, also known as the lemon zest, is used for flavoring in many recipes and other dishes.

The leaves of the lemon tree can be used to make tea and prepare cooked meat dishes.

Lemon can be used for cleaning due to its highly acidic nature. Two  halves of a lemon dipped in baking powder or salt can be used to clean  kitchenware and shine bronze.

Cattle will choose lemons over grapefruits, peaches, oranges, and  even apples. It's most likely because the citric acid in lemons aids  their digestion.

Lemon juice has a low pH, making it a good disinfectant. It can also dissolve grease and eliminate odors.

Lemon essential oil is frequently used in non-toxic insecticides.

Lemon juice is also an interesting choice in preserving foods like avocados, apples, or bananas.

A cup of warm water with a leaf of lemon before breakfast is a great thing for your constipation.

One lemon can provide 50% of the daily need for vitamin C.

Preserving the lemons in a plastic bag then put it in the  refrigerator after watering to keep the lemons tasting fresh. When being  frozen, lemons can keep for a month.

Temperature changes cause lemons to go from green to yellow, not  ripe, so green patches are fine, but it's best to avoid fruit with brown  spots, a sign of rot.

As you can see, lemons have more uses than that lemon jar! And,  although orange juice is our most popular juice, oranges can be made  into many other things too! Y'all.

So like I'm absolutely unhinged and can never like something a normal amount.

Like ever.

But I got a job stage managering for a Renaissance faire near me in the summer. And also they asked me to help with a weekend event where I will be stage managering for a bunch of bands.

Sick right?

And like I've never done anything like this before. (And therefore no idea if I'm gonna enjoy it but I'm convinced that stage managering is actually my divine calling of sorts- specially for musicians but not limited to there. Which is mostly because it feels like something clicked into place. Like it feels right this feels like something I should be pursuing.)

But because I'm an academic with a hatred for the confines of real schooling at heart, I started doing research about what a stage manager should know (not to prepare for the jobs which are expecting me to be completely green) and the thing about a stage manager is they should have an understanding of all aspects of things that go into live performances.

So a music stage manager will understand the needs of a vocalist or an instrumentalist or the tech people as equally as possible and so forth.

And a theatre stage manager should comprehend actors needs, lighting needs, director needs, etc etc.

And as someone who has been in music and theatre most of my younger years less so since high school (couldn't keep up with my peers major L) I'm not completely alien to the world. (In fact I always say my first two loves were the written word and the performing arts) (plus I once went the trajectory of trying to become fight director back in 2020 which led to lots of research of that field shocker.)

ANYWAY

Now I'm like actively absorbing all the books I can find that has anything to do with film, theatre, and music.

And am currently reading Drama High by Michael Sokolove and The Music Never Stops by Peter Shapiro.

And I have a running list of documentaries to watch about different histories of music (specifically ones I'm less familiar with like blues and hip hop and opera but not limited)

And I'm trying to get back into practicing martial arts on my own.

And I have shows I want to see and events I want to go to.

BUT THESE BOOKS IM READING MAN. They get it.

Reading Drama High is so wild because I'm learning about these kids who would otherwise be mostly unknown other than this book and I just feel so deeply connected to them.

Courtney Meyers has my whole heart from that book. Like this quote about her "Taking the job at Georgine's felt like a death sentence. But theater is not an escape. In some ways, it is the opposite of that- it brings her closer to the true self she thinks she might be, or could become."

Georgine's is a diner that her mother and grandmother works at so she felt destined to repeat that. And as someone who also came from a small town and felt like I had nothing going for me and that I was doomed to job hop retail jobs like my parents and never quite get by enough? It resonated with me. It also resonated with me about her feelings on theater. Like music, writing, and theatre sure was a form of escapism but it was also always a form of self expression a way to pull out pieces of myself from the written word and look at my own reflection.

Even growing up id always want to play angry or villainous characters (to this day I think about how my theatre teacher passed me over for Morgana in sleeping beauty to give it to my twin who hated it, in 5th grade) because I wanted a safe space to express all this anger I had at a world that refused to listen. But not only that the confusion I had. The world was so achingly confusing and social cues confused me and the written word helped me try to unravel this confusion.

And don't even get me started on music. When I am in a venue listening to a band suddenly nothing else matters. When I am surrounded by people actively pursuing music I have both feelings of inadequacies but also at home.

When I see a concert I don't want them to perform to me like it's their job- I want to see you having fun and enjoying it even if you've been doing it for 20 years (I really see Ice Nine Kills as a shining example of this, but they are one of thousands however they are my only core experience as they are like one of few bands I've seen multiple times. And even tho it's clearly a performance as we get (fake!)killings on stage it's also for the love of horror and for the love of song. It has to be or they wouldn't be rocking the horror world with their very own convention that could very well be the next Spookyworld. If you're curious what I mean here's my review of their last convention where I explain that very concept.)

Theatre and Music are two loves I have that feel equal parts untouchable while also constantly being all around me.

And I don't know where I was going with this but I guess consider this the ramblings of someone in love with the arts who fears the arts will never love her back but she keeps trying to find her place anyway.
