I heard the unfortunate news that Janice Burgess, the creator of Backyardigans passed away recently, which is pretty saddening. I think doing this little cosplay thing was a bit of a tribute to her.

Thank you Janice for creating such an amazingly iconic show loved by many, and you will truly be missed 🩷 🌹

the backyardigans was my NUMBER 1 favorite show on treehouse tv. i was always super excited when it would come on, and i'd become sad when the snacktime song would play bc i knew the episode was going to end. even now, every so often i binge the show, draw the characters and listen to the songs. the backyardigans is a comfort show of mine and it really means a lot to me, so when i heard about janice burgess' passing it really shook me. rest in peace queen, thank you for the memories, laughs, and for making my childhood better 🧡💙🩷💜💛

Here's my work of the deceased creator of my childhood show "The Backyardigans" featuring Pablo, Tyrone, Uniqua, Tasha and Austin, they're so really sad about her loss :(

Janice Burgess passed away at 72 about 3 days ago after 72th birthday due to the Breast Cancer.

i originally started this just a few days before janice burgess passed away. if you have been following me for a while, you'd know that the backyardigans is still one of my all time favorite shows to this day: a major brainworm ive had since i was first popped out the womb.

she had such a huge hand in me and my siblings childhoods outside of backyardigans, as well, and i cant understate how much it means to me to see a black woman have such a major role in various popular animated franchises.

RIP to one of my greatest animation inspos, ESPECIALLY when it comes to children's entertainment. the fact that mrs. burgess passed on the day before my birthday hurts especially, so i dedicate this drawing to her! i would not be who i am w/o these goobers, so thank you

Uniqua and Tasha teen designs!!! Kinda been a slow process making these (these drawings are like a month apart) so I’ll post the others eventually when I make them!

I tried to keep them in similar outfits to what they wore as kids, but changed them depending on what I think they’d like to wear!

For Uniqua, I feel like she’s super artistic and just like being comfy!

For Tasha, I feel like she really likes history and prefers to wear vintage styles of fashion!
