the originals s3 ep10 (and prior ep of s3)

rewatching the originals is so much better the second time around.

i want to start by talking about jackson. I didn’t enjoy his character the first time, but this time i understand how important his character was to hayley’s development. his death was so much more painful the second time. poor hayley was helpless watching her husband get his heart ripped out and I can’t lie, I cried this time.

and cami :( god, my poor girl. she is such an angel and she’s so important to this show despite what anyone thinks about the ships. my girl has suffered so much in her life; losing her brother, then her uncle, then being kept captive by lucien & omg aurora. aurora is such a complex character, and I can’t lie, I enjoy her so much. i too would be this feral over klaus. her telling cami to slit her throat the moment klaus looks at her the way he looked at aurora?? such a beautiful scene between klaus and cami and aurora made it so dark like yes, i love this evil little show so bad.

of course, freya needs to be discussed. i feel like i remember her being such a side character but she’s actually so so important as well and i have grown to love her character so much. talk about suffering. she’s so cute though and she was written so well for being the oldest sibling. like, she is 100% giving older sister vibes.

also.. davina getting shunned omg. my heart broke for her.

hate the lack of rebekah this season.

overall, i am enjoying this rewatch so much more than my first watch— which is insane because i loved the originals so much the first time. i do have to say, I think it is miles above the vampire diaries. and i think that’s why my expectations for legacies was so high. tvd, while it was an exceptional show, was not quite as complex as TO. that is not to discredit tvd, i love that show with my whole heart and have watched it five times over, but if i had to rank them, TO would come first.

halfway through TO now, so i will be posting more think pieces as it progresses but for now this is all. feel free to share your thoughts, i love discussing these silly supernatural shows. these aren’t even half of my thoughts but I’m on a 2 hour drive right now and getting car sickness lol.

Where does Lucien rank among your favorite TVDU villains? Personally, outside of the Mikaelsons, he’s my favorite.

It's complicated. Mostly cause I don't really have a rank in my head for villains. I love/hate them for different reasons.

Lucien is a really good villain and I like that they just let him be a villain. Yes, he has a sort of sad backstory, but so does everyone. I hate how people say characters "aren't evil, they're just broken." 99% of villains in media have tragic backstories. It doesn't make what they do ok. And Lucien's story was not more tragic than a lot of what we saw. He was essentially a "lower class" person who got rejected by a girl... and then, yes tortured and killed by the nobility... But who hasn't?

I like that they never really tried to play up his backstory. We see him in flashbacks and can feel a little bad for him, but then Lucien is still just Lucien in present time. He never feels sorry for what he does. He never questions his choices. In his mind, he deserves to do what he is doing and doesn't hesitate. Even when he has bonded with characters, he's still willing to harm them to achieve his end goal. Like I said, I like him as a villain because he is unapologetically a villain.

He came to New Orleans with an elaborate plan to take down the people who he felt wronged him. I really liked the storyline where he was going after wealthy men, but the show kind of dropped it. I love vampire serial killer storylines because they all are serial killers but most of them are just sloppy with it. Lucien was methodical. It makes him even scarier as a villain. He had this hatred towards elites, yet he was one. He complains about how he grew up, yet he spent the vast majority of his life at the top of the food chain.

I will always hate him for what he did to Cami, but it makes him a better villain. He had a fondness for Cami or was at the very least amused by her bravery and spirit. But it didn't matter. His revenge was above everything. So this may put him at the top just for the fact that he was such a good villain all the way through.

I also really love Dahlia, Celeste, and Aurora. Yet, they spend so much time trying to make us understand Dahlia and Aurora that they lose some of their edge. Don't get me wrong, I love that they got their redemption, but it felt like it took away some of their "evil." It was supposed to. We were supposed to root for them and their redemption at the end. So it just makes me not want to list them as my favorite villain.

Celeste, not surprisingly doesn't get this ending (since she is a woc, I am not surprised by how quickly her arc was finished). If Celeste had a main story, she would probably be my favorite villain. She doesn't get enough credit for how she manipulated and launched TO. People love to credit Katherine for sending Katherine to NOLA, but Celeste was the one that manipulated the prophecies and was there at the beginning, destabilizing the factions in order to make the witches desperate to call the Mikaelsons back. She was incredibly powerful and actually had the Mikaelsons running scared because she knew how to emotionally manipulate them.

Speaking of Katherine, I know people love her as a villain, and she is fun. But if we are talking about the top villains, she doesn't rank very high for me. She was too caught up in the teen drama of it all and revolved around Stefan. It was just never a good enough reason to me to like her as a villain. But I don't want to turn this into me just going through each villain and analyzing them, because that's not what you asked for.

All of this to say, Lucien ranks pretty high for favorite villains for me. To me, the TO villains were all a lot scarier than TVD since they all had to be so much more powerful because the main characters were. While I liked TVD, the villains just don't rank as high for me. But I really liked all of the TO villains. I can't think of one that I was bored with actually, I can, Greta, but all of season 5 was a mess so that's not surprising. Even the Hollow, which was a bit of a messy storyline, still had a really neat backstory and was scary.

Season 3 is one of my favorite seasons because the story was so interesting. You can see where the villains are coming from, but they are never redeemed. They are villains and choose to be villains. It also plays on the idea that one mans villain is another man's hero. Like I don't consider Aya a villain at all because she was just fighting for her freedom, whereas some of the other's were motivated by power. I definitely prefer Lucien over Tristan, but Aurora is my favorite of the trio. Yet again, I never felt she was as good of a villain as Lucien because Aurora's actions were more understandable and even justified at times. She did things that weren't, but so did everyone. It really just depends on how you rank your favorite villains.

Can you rate some bonnie ships

Sure! This is just based on my personal preference, combining what we got in canon and the potential Bonnie stans explore in fanon.

This is pretty long so I'll put a text breaker (or whatever that's called) here. If you wanted me to go in-depth for a certain ship, feel free to ask! I apologize in advance for any misspells, grammar mistakes or errors.

1. Stefonnie and Bonkai

I have a few posts dedicated to my love of Stefonnie, but I’ll say it again, out of all of Bonnie’s ships, they had some of the best foundations based on canon alone. Same with Bonkai. There easily could’ve been a smooth transition into a relationship for both ships.

Season 5 was the perfect time to set Stefonnie up instead we got the blandness that is Ste.roline due to how similar their arcs were up to that point and how the main conflict of that season affected them two the most out of the main cast.

Anyone with eyes could see that Bonkai had a similar setup to TVDUS “dark romance” ships like DE and KC. The whole “bad boy x good girl” trope combined with the “evil guy is willing to change to earn the heart of the morally rich girl” trope was very on brand for Julie and Bonkai did it in a way that, again in my opinion, subverted from the norm. Bonnie held Kai accountable in a way that Elena and Caroline simply didn’t when it came to their highly questionable boyfriends. On top of that, I loved how Kai brought out the more vengeful side of Bonnie that had been somewhat watered down in seasons 3-5. Bonkai had one thing that was missing from all of Bonnie’s canon ships; passion. Out of all of Bonnie’s ships, canon or otherwise, Bonkai had the most electric chemistry. You can feel the emotions from Kat and Chris through the screen and they played off each other so well.

2. Klonnie

Bonnies ship with the most wasted potential. Klaus and Bonnie had everything in place to be a well-done ship. Not only did Kat and Joseph have great chemistry, but they were the biggest captains of this ship when Klaus was just getting started in TVD. They individually had the most interesting lore of all the TVDU characters and given how intertwined the Mikaelsons and the Bennetts were, should’ve interacted far more times in canon. Klaus was said to always have a witch by his side but wouldn't want to seduce Bonnie into joining his team after nearly reaching the damn near impossible feat of killing him? As a "novice" witch at that!

Additionally, Bonnie would've THRIVED in The Originals. TO was a very witch-centric show with a lot of characters I would've loved seeing Bonnie interact with. No offense to Hayley, but there's no denying that Bonnie being Hope's mother would have made more sense than what canon gave us.

3. Bonora

If Julie and Co didn’t want Bonnie to date one of their precious fan-favorite white men, fine. Bonora was there and would’ve been such a nice ship for Bonnie. Kat had been advocating for Bonnie to be bisexual for a long time to no avail instead we got Fr.eelin which, no shade, is basically shein Bonora despite Kat having great chemistry with women as well as men. If you had put Nora in Enzo's place in the later 2 seasons of the show very little would’ve changed. In fact, Bonnie’s arc would’ve significantly improved.

4. Kennett

Kennett has somewhat slipped down my ranking due to how disgusting the actor who plays Kol is, but for the ship's sake let’s just imagine Daniel Sherman was the one to start off playing Kol, okay? Okay <3

Kol was said to have a love of witches very early on in the show. The most consistent thing about his character was how he stayed connected to magic despite no longer being able to practice it himself. Bonnie was undisputedly the most powerful witch he had ever come across. Why wasn’t he more interested in her? Bonnie was the one solving everyone’s magical issues as a 17-year-old self-trained witch. Kol would’ve loved to dissect her mind, watch her do spells, and even share his own 1000 years' worth of knowledge about magic with her.

5. Tonnie

I honestly don’t have much to say about Tonnie, but I do think they could’ve been fun in the later seasons. Julie said that her shitty alternative ending for Bonnie was her ending up with Matt and having children with him, which sucks ASS by the way, and while I had the idea of Bonnie getting an even more half-baked romance than she got with Jeremy and Enzo, I would've sucked it up if it were with Tyler. Bonnie and Tyler were childhood friends and should've gotten even closer when Elena and Matt started dating considering they were their best friends. I can definitely imagine Elena trying to force Bonnie on a double date with her, Matt, and Tyler.

While Forwood is one of my favorite canon TVDU ships, Tyler and Bonnie bonding early on over their supernatural heritage would've made a lot more sense given that witches and werewolves traditionally get along significantly better than either species do with vampires.

6. Bamon

If you had asked me this in 2020/21, Bamon would've topped my list. I don't by any means hate them, but I'm admittedly not as fond of them anymore. I feel like Bamon is most serious Bonnie stans first, and/or most beloved ship. And it makes sense! Bonnie and Damon had excellent chemistry, a large amount of focus on their relationship in season 6 and onward, and a lot of romantically coded scenes despite the writers' hopes of dissuading the fans. My biggest gripe with Bamon is that, like most dynamics including Damon, Damon benefits from having Bonnie in his life significantly more than Bonnie benefits from having Damon in her life. Additionally, given how they wrote Steroline in regards to Stelena, how Bamon would play out in canon in regards to Delena sounds like a nightmare to me.

7. Bonenzo

Bonenzo is Bonnie's best canon ship but lord knows that's not saying a lot. The ship felt as if the writers took bits and pieces from Bamon and Kennett/Kolvina and said "Here, damn!" in hopes to shut Bonnie fans up. I honestly wouldn't dislike them nearly as much if they were actually endgame. Enzo's presence was merely to give Bonnie a romance, and he didn't even fulfill the means that justified his existence.

8. Beremy

He cheated on her with a ghost. Enough said.

This is fact, because I can never be wrong in MY OPINION!!!

1. Bonnie Bennett

Self explanatory. She’s the baddest bitch and a powerful bitch. I love this girl and I will stand by this girl. Plus she’s black, and we gotta stick together.



2. Damon Salvatore

Let’s not act surprise. He’s my man. I will ALWAYS defend him (even though I will always admit he’s done some terrible shit). But that’s still baby boy. I connect with Damon more than anyone on the show tbh. Simply because we share the same trauma (trust issues, abandonment issues…). And we have the same humor. And I love how he’s not afraid to be the bad guy when needed and he says what needs to be said, no matter who’s feelings get hurt. Brutal honesty. Love him.

3. Katherine Pierce

Listen, listen. She’s just a bad bitch, idk what y’all want me to say. Her aesthetic is just good! Shes a survivor which is something that we look up to in some degree. And I have to give props to her for never turning off her humanity. Although I hated how they gave her that obsessed with Stefan storyline in S5, like girl, stand up!

4. Elijah Mikaelson (on TVD)

Honestly, I have no idea why I ranked Elijah this high. All I know is that whenever he’s on screen, I giggle a little bit.

5. Klaus Mikaelson (TVD)

Same with Klaus tbh. Klaus annoys me but I also wanna be friends with him (*cough* with benefits *cough*). Everyone loves a tortured soul, am I right?

6. Elena Gilbert

Don’t come from me. I love Elena and she’s literally not so bad that everyone makes her out to be. I especially loved her from S1-3.

7. Rebekah Mikaelson

Another bad bitch.

8. Lexi

I actually almost forgot about Lexi. But she would be in the top three if she didn’t die so damn soon. She could’ve added such a good dynamic with the main characters. Such wasted potential.

9. Rose

Another wasted potential. I loved her and Damon’s relationship, and it added a bit more maturity to show in my opinion. Idk, loved her.

10. Caroline Forbes

Now… I have a hate/love relationship with Caroline. But more love than hate. I just… simply don’t agree with her personality 💀. I just know if she was real, me and her would NOT get along. Caroline just has a very nosy, judgmental and loudly opinionated personality that I just don’t fw. But I know she does this because of love and because of how much she loves her friends. And she can be adorable. She’s annoying but in a tolerable-cute-annoying way. Like a sibling.

Set TVD season 2 episode 8

Arthur Davis was honoured to be asked by Elijah to carry out a mission, it goes badly.

They say when you're dying your life flashes before your eyes, and as Art uselessly attempts to stop himself from bleeding out, he’s not all that surprised to be disappointed by the shortness of it.

Three months from turning twenty.

Most of his years were taken up by disappointed glances and words until he had fled, picking cold unsafe nights in the streets over them.

The last five years, learning there was more to the world; vampires, witches, werewolves and magic.

It was sad to think he had only started to live after he was taken in by what in simple terms was a death cult, even if the members rarely stayed dead.

They all found out about vampires as soon as they started their training, being told clearly that those who performed best would be welcomed into the strix with a higher rank, Arthur had never been one of the best students but he had learnt.

He had been honoured and excited when Elijah had asked him to go on a mission for him, even if he was only there to speak to the girl, as another human, someone closer to her age, convinced her to accept it. 

He had been going so well, they left the pair of witches sent with them behind in a house temporarily rented, and followed Elijah’s instructions to meet the pair of vampires that were expecting Elijah. Aldo had spoken, threatened the pair of vampires, then offered them a way to hide from Nikalus Mikaelson if they were willing to ask the Strix for it.

Art had been a little distracted as the terror he could heard in the century old vampires when they spoke about this ‘Niklaus’ when all he could do was remember Elijah’s stories of his sweet little brother who used to make his own paints and thread flowers into their sister’s hair.

Still it had gone downhill when they were interrupted, Aldo had ordered him to follow him and they had been attacked in the foyer of the abandoned house.

He had hesitated, the first and most important Elijah had taught them was to never hesitate because that moment could cost you everything. 

Yet Art had, when the blue eyed vampire had grabbed him, tearing him from Aldo's side, he had frozen with his hand around the stake.

The vampire hadn't.

The teeth in his throat had burnt and the man hadn't even drunk just torn a chunk from his throat and left him, returning to the fight against Aldo, without a glance as Art had stumbled back into a walk and slid down it.

He had reached uselessly with his hand to try and stop the bleeding but the most he had managed was to slow it down, his hand covered in warm blood as he started to feel cold.

From his place he had watched as they fought against Aldo, one of the Strix's strongest, a survivor of the mission nearly a century ago that had cost the Strix most of their oldest members.

Art didn't exactly like the other man but he respected him, knew he was strong and experienced but Elijah had also taught them to be wary and how to use overconfidence and pride; being the oldest and most experienced didn’t automatically mean you’d win. 

And confidence and and prideful were very much words to be applied to Aldo so he was shocked but not entirely surprised when he had seen the broken piece of wood impale Aldo’s chest by the same vampire that had grabbed him before they vanished from his view but he still heard the thunk as the wood was driven into the wall likely with Aldo still on it.

He could feel himself weakening, fading as he watched the girl they were sent to get being led away by her apparent rescuers, asking about him.

He was cold, growing colder and weaker, his arms becoming heavy and his fingers numb. 

For a guy who had spent years being trained and cared for by what is basically a vampire cult, Art hadn’t really planned or ever wanted to become one himself.

It wasn’t hard to see that Elijah didn’t want them to, the man who had trained them, who was pretty much the reason they weren't all left on the street to be forgotten and die.

He'd never argue against it or convince them not to accept Lady Aya’s offers, he was always clear on the fact everyone had a choice but the flicker of a frown and the mask of cool politeness that he wore when dealing with those that chose it afterwards made his feelings clear, not that he ever dealt with them much, after accepting and becoming a full member of the Strix most vanished send away on mission or settled at another base of operations.

Art was hoping to remain at the Strix London base as one of the human workers; he had even started looking into what he needed to apply there.

Elijah needed a friend that was clear and even if he had only been acting interested in them while he trained them, Art wanted to try to become that.

Dying alone in the middle of nowhere in North America, he found himself jealous of Jay as he felt his breath growing shorter and his vision started to dim, Jay who had ODed months ago with Elijah at his side.

Arthur Davis dies of blood loss on a mission for the Strix, alone; he's mostly just upset that he failed Elijah.

But Elijah had still given him a vial of his blood, in case he needed it and Art had drunk it for good luck just before the entered the house, the thought of carrying a piece of Elijah within him, that it might have given him the ability of always knowing what words he needed which came naturally to Elijah.

That hadn’t exactly worked.

So when he wakes back up with a gasp, he knows why and what to expect, just because he hadn't planned or wanted to be a vampire doesn't mean he hadn’t listened to the lesson on it or that he wouldn’t take advantage of this chance.

Elijah wanted the doppelganger, Elena Gilbert, in Strix custody, to be hidden and protected from being sacrificed by his brother then, Art would deliver, even if it meant facing the vampire that just killed him.

This time he wouldn't fail.

this turned more originals centered since Ik I talk about it the least so less of my opinions are recorded/known so that tracks.

I generally enjoy (the girls) no humanity arcs despite their messiness

my ranking of Klaus popular ships that are some level of canon at this point is probably Klayley>Klaurora>Klaroline>>Klamille, I ship the former 3 to different degrees although none is necessarily otp levels.

I’m really neutral on Camille overall I think she’s unfairly hated but I also couldn’t get properly interested in her, she and Davina are probably the two major female TVDu chars that interest me the least even though I don’t have anything against them but I connected to Rebekah Hayley Freya and Aurora all a lot more (even if I find some of the changes to characterization re: the former two from TVD to TO less compelling esp Rebekah I think we agree on this).

I do think Aurora x Camille served a little

Freya and Klaus had at least top 2 most interesting Mikaelson’s relationships to me (Klaus and Rebekah’s best hits are more insane but I probably liked the arc for him and Freya better).

I sort of bounced around on how I felt about MG x Lizzie while legacies aired I liked them most in late s2 when they had some scenes I thought served but everything before and after was meh and the get together in s4 was embarrassing.

Josie x Rafael was underrated and could’ve been good… they’re like Margo x Quentin for me in that it’s not a ship I’m mad about but it was good and compelling esp compared to canon ships and I think it could have saved us from worse things had it been considered seriously. Anyway that siphon kiss moment goes hard 

This is barely about TVDu but reading the locked tomb has given me ideas for how insanely good the merge storyline could have been if the writers knew what they were doing and (I love the Saltzman twins dynamic this is well documented) how great the Saltzman twins dynamic could be if it was more like Ianthe and Coronabeth…. Like society one of the twins had siphoned the other twins love interest or someone they cared about deeply and ended the merge that way and then the other twin was jealous of not being siphoned from/killed. The s2 not merge is like even more boring to me now that I have this comparison point

I enjoy Elena and Caroline about equally when I’m watching the show or who I gravitate towards more depends on the storyline or part of the show but I tend to find Elena more interesting to dissect when I’m just thinking about the show and also Caroline’s fandom can be… yeah so I think that leads me to gravitate towards Elena more recently/currently.

maybe less unpopular now based on that poll but s2 is the best TVD season. I love a lot of things in s3 and s6 but both also have more issues s2 is when there was a good balance.

TO s3 was definitely the most engaging TO season for me it’s no secret that I actually struggle to be engaged by TO the most out of the shows, at different points I’ve definitely mused in the tags about why that is but ultimately I think it might just be a me thing without deeper reasoning lolz. But s3 was where I was most entertained. (less sure how popular or unpopular this is since I don’t see a lot of ‘season’ discussions like I do for TVD)

The Originals (the edgier spin off I did not like it but it’s worth mentioning)

Legacies (the only one of the three I actually recommend wholeheartedly. It’s campy it’s stupid and it’s fun also there’s a musical episode!)

My babysitter is a vampire (absolute classic but not as classic as-)

Buffy the vampire slayer (it had an awkward implied sex scene that made me laugh also has a musical episode)

What we do in the shadows (older skewed but absolutely hilarious)

True blood (be warned if you haven’t seen it. Confederate vampires abound 🤢, other than that though it’s pretty alright)

Werewolves (give me recommendations please)

Wolf Blood (absolute favorite of all time,its on Amazon prime and peacock and I Highly recommend)

Teen wolf (classic)

TVD and it’s spin-offs also count but If you want Werewolf content The Originals is probably your best bet tbh

Wolf pack (buffy cameo in the first episode, im hooked)

Cursed (Arthurian but with a twist)

The imperfects (a group of 20somethings underwent experimental treatment for a condition that eventually causes them to develop supernatural powers that turn them into “monsters” lovingly called a “coming of rage” by its fans)

Dirk gently’s holistic detective agency (Elijah wood and Samuel Barnett are very lucky at solving crimes. Contains my poor meow meow Bart (love her) and also my girl crush Amanda. It’s weird and campy and I wish it had gotten more seasons)

The Witcher (I really liked season one and two!)

Charmed (the original AND the reboot are both very fun, it’s about witches)

Once upon a time (long and not paced very well but it’s fun at times, I had a crush on Peter Pan when I was a kid and his season is the best so there’s that.)

The 100 (Technically sci-fi but I’ve heard it gets supernatural at some point so when I get there I’ll probably move it, it’s kinda stupid but it’s campy and FULL absolutely brimming with hot men and lesbians and it Still got probably too many seasons)

Dead Boy Detectives (if you can’t tell I like mystery shows. GHOSTS! Ghost boys solve mysteries with their psychic friend! Has a lot of queer rep and tbh I think it’s handled better than a lot of stuff recently Especially Edwin, Jenny was a little less so but i did love that there were No homophobes I mean a few were implied but they don’t get any platform. VERY cute and very emotional at times I would rank it up there with The Imperfects as one of my Favorite modern supernatural shows. It’s a Netflix original as well so its chances of getting a second season are low but I adored it, it’s set up for at least one more season but you know how Netflix is.)

Okay, because of this attack, I’m revisiting sites for cross postings. Wattpad, sadly, is one I’m going to. I hate me for that. Anyways, I’ll also be cross posting on FFN again, I’ve turned off all PMs on there, I don’t want any hate again. I’ll be examining other sites to post on, and if I compile a few other sites, I’ll post where I’m at. For the most part, this is the username I’m sticking to, so I’ll be easy to find. 

My primary site of preference will remain Ao3, things like the One Shot Collection, and most of my DC content will remain there because DC crossover posting on FFN is a pain, and the main reason I left it, DC fandom is so vast I hated crossover posting. And after they callously utilized and betrayed her to gain what they needed rather than assisting her, she turned to their greatest foe with an offer too good to be refused. In the coming years though, with the comfortable life Davina built through blood, sweat, tears, and magic, it has come under threat as Inadu's growing presence; which has consumed the youngest Mikaelson and spreads like a cancer through the supernatural world. Now the Mikaelsons turn to the family they've scorned, pleading for aid.

-The Vixen & Fox -- Kolvina -- Davina and Kol just went to Mystic Falls to check in on their niece and research a mysterious dark object that just appeared on their kitchen counter.Next thing Davina knew she was waking up the day after the Harvest, and last thing she clearly remembered was dying. Now she's stuck in her 16 year old body! Well... Since she's here she might as well fix things before the Mikaelsons can mess it up, again. History isn't stuck on repeat after all.

-The Secret & the Legacy -- Kolvina -- There's a few secrets between the worlds and realities which the Skulk had long since woven and now it's under threat as a hunt for the Armillary Sphere and Key begin. Now it's a race of time to prevent the new worlds from colliding into one another, still secrets are surfacing and legacies are being challenged.

-Lost in Time -- Kolvina -- Davina Claire is the most hated and coveted Harvest Girl to ever be, and somehow Fate and Time have pulled her back in time. tbh i was debating to put tvd in the death row bc i hate sm about it, but it was one of the first shows i ever watched and seasons 2&3 are genuinely good.

 regarding the 100, i actually think the show itself is pretty great (seasons 1-4) but i just have too much pent up hatred towards it bc of bellarke (they literally made me wait 7 years for nothing) and b*liza (clarke and bellamy were my favorite characters and i can’t look at their faces anymore).

the least they could've done was put more effort into the aesthetics, but they just pulled some hot topic shit out of their ass and called it a day. 😩 it's also just... meh because ultimately the entire concept and what it was used for spoke more to clarke/the necromancer as villains than "dark!josie" so there's very little to hype even in terms of plot

Scoring The Top TVD Ships From AO3

I’m bored and stuck in lockdown; this is based on the TVD relationships tab on AO3, so I’m giving the TVD couples with the most fanfictions written about them a score out of ten. This is NOT an insult to fanfic writers, they’re doing amazing work and I’ve read some fantastic stories.

PURELY BASED ON THE SHOW, I WILL TRY NOT TO LET MY FANON OPINIONS BLEED INTO THE SCORING. FOR NON-CANON SHIPS, I’LL DESCRIBE THEIR POTENTIAL AS A COUPLE; HOWEVER, THEIR RANKING WILL STILL BE MOSTLY BASED ON THE SHOW. LIST STARTS WITH THE SHIP THAT HAS THE HIGHEST # OF FANFICS WRITTEN ABOUT THEM, ORDER IS MOST TO LEAST.

KLAROLINE: 6.5/10

((TO scenes will be ignored)) they had really great chemistry, I found them fun to watch although their physically-romantic scenes were ok

Pretty interesting dynamic, I liked how they could be charmed by the other but they could also play their more fiery scenes very well

Could’ve used more development for sure, they definitely came out of nowhere. I did believe there was an attraction there but nowhere near klaus being in love with caroline. They weren’t that deep

Klaus still terrorized her and her friends, almost killed her and took her boyfriend away and then killed his mom. People love to excuse Klaus but no, he’ll be getting a lower score from me

I’d only be interested in seeing them in a toxic/dark relationship, they’re not endgame material to me

DELENA: -9/10

I wanted to barf looking through their gifs, I cannot stand watching their scenes

Toxic, unhealthy, half their lines were BS, Damon didn’t change at all, Elena enabled him, never had a real conversation, absolutely nothing in common, tried to compel her to kiss him in 1x03 and he basically forced her to turn off her humanity, didn’t respect her at all, killed her brother, still made moves on her after Stefan literally saved him, all about sex, not much chemistry, Elena lost her personality, took dying and a sirebond for Damon to finally be her choice after a year, he terrorized/abused her friends and she didn’t give a shit, became so dependent that she “couldn’t live without him,” I didn’t buy that he loved her when Isobel first said it, bad boy/good girl plot that went off the rails and straight into toxic waste, he just wanted a nicer version of Katherine

started with a sirebond where she had NO FREE WILL AND SHE WAS COOL WITH IT?? WHAT?? I was so pissed when that storyline went down, it’s so problematic

When I saw their 6x22 dance, I wasn’t impressed. I kept thinking “can u guys just have sex pls like this isn’t cute and sex is the only thing u guys really have”

STELENA: 9.5/10

THE DOBSLEY CHEMISTRY. ENOUGH SAID.

So cute together, Stefan supported Elena’s decisions, HE RESISTED COMPULSION SO HE WOULDN’T HURT ELENA, they had fun together and the sex was pretty hot (idk why people say they had no passion), they were each other’s first priority, Stefan always did whatever he could to save Elena even when he wasn’t with her, Elena chose him at the end of the day, Elena also resisted compulsion by thinking abt him, stefan supported her as a human and vampire, didn’t try to change her (despite julie’s lame writing tries to convince us), both were always so understanding with each other, Elena was never afraid of him and always tried to help him, saw her as her own person and not a different version of Katherine

My love for them really floundered in s4, after that szn I only got crumbs of them so it was kinda hard to ship

I do think Elena was mostly faithful to Stefan but some moments...girl, u clearly had feelings for Damon. And if I’m to believe Julie Plague, you first loved Damon in 3x01...but yeah, keep telling me how you were so devoted to Stefan

THEY SHOULD’VE BEEN ENDGAME!!!

BAMON: 7.5/10

they had such good chemistry together, I rmb watching the scene above where Damon saved her from the truck and I was like “KISS HER OMG”

Loved their friendship and buildup over the seasons, they could’ve been a great couple

I feel like the person they needed was each other, Bonnie needed Damon’s loyalty (fully) and Damon needed Bonnie to tell him when he screwed up; the two people that always seemed to come up second should’ve been the first for each other (nice symbolism in my opinion)

She was much more honest with him than Elena, generally held him accountable for his actions and I thought Bonnie could handle Damon way better; he had more respect and admiration for Bonnie

The show would’ve needed to gone through some serious rewrites and changed to make this ship canon, which is why I only love fanon bamon

STEROLINE: 4/10

I love Stefan and Caroline individually, but not together; on paper they should work, but in reality they kinda suck lol

I understand why people ship them, they had a nice transition of friends-to-lovers but they had almost no romantic chemistry; they were so much better off as friends

SE was constantly a shadow in their relationship, not to mention Stefan didn’t always treat Caroline well

I enjoy them as a minor/other ship in fanfics, but not a fan of them in the show

DALARIC: 5/10

Ngl, I laughed when I saw that they were one of the highest couples for tvd on AO3

Alaric was good on calling Damon out on his shit, they were a pretty good team so why not be a couple

Never really felt any romantic chemistry lol...wait I’m watching scenes of them and I’m kinda seeing a connection (I forgot how he would leave a seat for Alaric!!!)

Still kinda hard to imagine them as a couple, but you know what, they could’ve been pretty good together

FORWOOD: 8.5/10

Loved their development, they were so cute together and always leaned on each other for support

I feel like they were so dedicated to each other, definitely had their fair share of challenges and they both accepted each other fully

Always liked their chemistry, I feel like the tension with them liking each other but not admitting it was their peak

Didn’t like the way they ended, and I HATE that Tyler died; my fav ship for both of them, SHOULD’VE BEEN ENDGAME

BONKAI: 6.5/10

THE CHEMISTRY!!! HOLY IT FELT LIKE I WAS INTRUDING ON A PRIVATE MOMENT, SO PALPABLE JFC

I think these two could’ve had such an interesting and layered toxic relationship, or even a healthy relationship could’ve been cute (if developed correctly). I’d be equally interested in either storyline and I really enjoyed their scenes

I’m sticking to canon, so Kai did torture Bonnie and these two crossed the other more than once….I’m not about to endorse that which is why their score is lower

They had SO MUCH potential, imagine the storylines they could’ve had...ugh fuck u Plec

KALIJAH: 7/10

Not a lot to go on for them, I wish they could’ve had more scenes since I enjoyed what we got

I think they could’ve been a power couple; they balance each other out, and I could see them being really soft and vulnerable with each other but then really hot and dark

Idk why Jeremy’s death changed Elijah’s mind about Katherine considering Elena killed Kol...like what’s the difference

Both of them have done bad things but as vampires, bygones should be bygones so their score isn’t lower bc of that, I’m just not super invested in them

ELEJAH: 5.5/10

I wouldn’t have minded seeing them together, they probably would’ve had some nice moments

I think they had an interesting dynamic in s2 and s3, but I think allies/friends is the furthest I’d like for their relationship to go

Not a perfect match, I think they’re better suited for other people and I doubt they’d be long-term

Elena did kill Kol and help to kill Finn, while Klaus has terrorized Elena and her friends, killed Jenna so their score isn’t that high

Kind of surprised by the couples, but also makes sense LOL. Please, do not start attacking me in the comments, I’m fine with a respectful discussion bc I like to hear what others think. It’s fine if you disagree, idc who you ship and kudos to all the fanfic writers out there!!

You may be the first person to agree with me that Michael Trevino is more attractive than Joseph Morgan, so now I’m curious. Who are the most attractive (purely based on looks) cast members in your opinion?

I am the worst person to ask this. My friends hate talking about celebrities with me or even sending me pics of people they find attractive because I have a very specific view of what I find attractive. I identify as pansexual and demisexual, meaning I do tend to need to emotionally bond with someone to find them attractive so I struggle to focus purely on looks. Like I can tell if someone is objectively attractive but sometimes everyone will be obsessed with an actor and I just don't get it. I can understand that Nate Buz is objectively attractive, but because I can't stand him as a person, I just don't personally find him attractive. I also tend to find women way more attractive than men. As you will see by my lists.

It also really depends on what you mean by "based purely on their looks." There are people who are "scientifically" attractive, but I just don't find them that attractive. It's impossible to be completely objective when talking about attraction. Everyone is attracted to different things.

I will say, I typically don't like light haired men, which explains the Trevino over Morgan opinion. It's not that I can't recognize Joseph Morgan (Klaus) is attractive. He's just not in the top for me. I also feel like people tend to find him more attractive because of his accent. Although, I will admit I liked him more with his longer, curly hair. But that also could just be because that's when his character gets more tolerable for me.

I also want to remind everyone that these are my opinions. Everyone has their own opinions and it doesn't mean your fav isn't attractive. These are just who I think is most attractive. Let's be honest, the cast is stacked with extremely attractive people. If they are not on the list, they are still attractive, it is just a very competitive field.

(This does not include Legacies cause I haven't really watched it)

Most Attractive Cast Members in My (un)Biased Opinion

It's going to come as no surprise who I consider to be the most attractive in the show. They also happen to be my favorite ships from each show. I swear I am trying to be objective but they seriously were the stand outs to me the first time I watched the shows. I mean just look at them. There is a reason that both Kat and Phoebe do modeling on the side. As for the men, you may say I have a type, but it's hard to deny that Daniel and Michael are not at least in the top, if not the top, for men. But if that's not objective enough for you, here's my top lists excluding them:

Most Attractive Men

We can't have a list of most attractive men without Charles Michael Davis topping the list. Marcel is one of the most attractive men in this series. I won't hear any arguments against it. His smile is just top tier. I don't feel like I need to say anything else to prove my point. Just look at that man.

I feel like Michael Trevino (Tyler) and Collin Woodell (Aiden) have very similar vibes. This is maybe less objective than not, but I just found them more attractive than some of the more popular characters that usually top the lists. Also, I thought it would be inappropriate to put them without their shirts on, but... I mean, come on.

Yusuf Gatewood is not talked about enough. I was not a huge Finn fan in TVD, nothing against Casper, but I was just never drawn in by that character. But Yusuf as Finn really pulled me in. I also just have a thing for smiles. He has such a captivating smile.

I can see that they are objectively attractive but not at the top of my personal list:

Ian Somerhalder as Damon. I know this may anger some people, but I just have never been an Ian girl. I get what people like, but his eyes always freaked me out a little bit. He just doesn't rank high for me, sorry! Joseph Morgan as Klaus. Joseph Morgan just doesn't top the list, but I just don't find light haired men that attractive. I'm not saying he's not, he just isn't in my top. Paul Wesley as Stefan. I loved Stefan and he has the stereotypical "good looks." He is pretty high on the list still, just not in the top. Chris Wood as Kai. I don't have much to say on this one. He's objectively attractive but again, just not at the top of my list. David Alpay as Atticus Shane. I know he was awful but objectively he is very attractive. Steven McQueen as Jeremy. He definitely had a glow up from the emo teen to the vampire hunter.

Most Attractive Women Spoiler alert, it's all of them

Like, my god, even actresses with the smallest screen time carried the show. These aren't really in order but I tried. I can't even begin to rank them against each other. I hated Monique's character but my god, Yasmine Al-Bustami is beautiful. Nishi Munshi (Gia) is just a gorgeous human being. I didn't like Antoinette, but I would do anything for Jaime Murray. I'm obsessed with everything Nathalie Kelley (Sybil) does.

This is not to say that the other actresses aren't beautiful. Again, everyone is gorgeous. These women just felt next level gorgeous to me, whereas, actresses like Candice and Nina felt more girl next door, if that makes sense. Like Inadu (Blu Hunt) was killing all of my faves and I was still somehow rooting for her (jk, mostly).

I know most of my list is from The Originals, but that tends to be the show I rewatch the most. I also feel like they tend to have more actors. TVD had the same actors playing like 20 different roles.

I have a prompt for you if you can. Not sure if you watch Legacies, there’s an episode where Lizzie makes a wish to a Jinn that Hope is never born. In this alternate universe, Lizzie won the Merge, Klaus flipped his switch 2 years ago in grief and started a war with the humans leading to Triad publicly hunting all supernaturals. Enemy #1 is Klaus and his vampire wife Caroline Mikaelson. I’d like to see a Klaroline fic of this AU please.

Prompt part 2. I have some personal thoughts on this alternative universe but itS totally up to you if you go with them or if you come up with your own. No Hope means no Hayley, means no Elijah dying. So why was Klaus grieving? No Hope means back in TVD S4 the witches had no way of luring him to NO so he stayed in MF eventually wearing Caroline down into a relationship. Josie and Lizzie were like his daughters and when they merged he and Caroline both flipped the switch in grief of Josie.

 Tears Will Never Dry (angsty)

“I failed them.” Her voice was so small and defeated. Curled up as she was in the armchair, Caroline looked blankly out the window. Though she had a perfect view of Bonnie talking through some witchy herbs with a despondent Lizzie out in the courtyard, her eyes didn’t seem to register. It was like she wasn’t even there.

Klaus, who once proudly professed he had no heart, felt something break inside him for he knew nothing could truly comfort her. He had failed her. So he offered what little he could, what he held onto when she was so far away. “You love them so completely, you could never fail them,” he vowed, and he’d never meant something so much. It took all his strength not to pull her into his arms, to close the distance she wrapped around herself so tightly. “You will help Lizzie through this, and—” The lump in his throat made it hard to speak, not that he could bring himself to say the name she cried in her sleep. “—you loved her to the end.”

Tears trickled down her crumpled face. “It’s not supposed to happen that way,” she croaked. “Mom and Dad loved me to the end, too. Their ends. Now, I have to live with her being gone. Forever.”

It used to be a promise between them, sweet and tempting; on her tongue, the word sounded sour. Helpless and desperate, Klaus kneeled  at her feet. He pressed his mouth to her knee, hands wrapped around her legs like a lifeline. “Tell me what I can do. Please, sweetheart. Let me help.”

Blinking down at him, she let her fingers card through his hair. Her smile was sad, apologetic. “It just hurts so much.”

And he knew it was too late.

The club was a dangerous idea. They were meant to be in hiding, and it defied sense to flaunt their return to New Orleans in a favorite haunt. But the girls were having fun, and Klaus was loathe to break up the party with sense.

He was tucked into the quietest corner of the VIP lounge, high above the din. Lizzie and Caroline, meanwhile, danced in the crush of the crowd, the pounding beat far too much for even a vampire’s ears. They laughed as they bumped into each other, and a smile curled his lips. It was good to be home.

Their little family was still grieving Josie’s loss after two years, each in their own way. Caroline preferred enjoying the lighter side of life, aided by a lack of human sensibilities. Lizzie alternated between reveling in her magic and loathing it for the too dear cost, just as she hated her mother for flipping the switch and loved having her as more of a friend. Klaus...

Klaus was just trying to keep the game interesting.

“Careful, friend,” Marcel warned, offering him a fresh drink as he dropped into the next chair. “Your humanity is showing.”

“She’s not paying me any mind, we can speak freely.” He turned to his old friend, a son that was lost and found, then lost and found again. How he wished he could grant such a miracle to Caroline. “Tell me about Triad.”

Clenching his glass, Marcel looked grim. “My nightwalkers keep disappearing, and even the ones with the GIft,” he murmured with laden meaning, since vampires had learned to hoard the secret of lapis lazuli and the safety it provided, “have mentioned being followed. Davina hasn’t risen far in the ranks of the organization yet, but she thinks a big move is in the works.”

He grit his teeth. “And?”

“The ‘vampire wife’ is whispered around the place. Often.”

It was a fight to loosen the tension in his body, but a necessary one. He raised a toast to Caroline, who tried to coax him out to the dance floor. He shook his head, charming enough so as not to rouse her suspicion. “I assume a kidnapping then.”

“At the least,” Marcel agreed. “Whether they want information from her or to use her against you, torture is to be expected. The switch might be a benefit to her if it comes to that—”

"It won't." His tone was final, even as he held his smirk. The ladies were too busy laughing off those bold men trying to dance with them to read him from afar. "She's been through enough."

Noticeably quiet, Marcel just sipped his drink.

“What, Marcellus?” Klaus bit out.

With a measured glance toward him, he shrugged. “The switch... She’s not really going through anything, and she hasn’t for years now. And thinking you’ve flipped yours, too? You’ve created a comfortable little world for her to avoid the pain, maintaining it to keep her safe without her knowing. What happens when the illusion shatters?”

He gave a careless flip of his hand. “She can’t turn it off twice.”

“If you say so.”

It wasn’t a new argument to Klaus, not when Stefan, Bonnie, Elijah — even Rebekah — had implored him to rethink his grand strategy for Caroline to party away the worst of her pain. At the very least, he could be honest about his own, relatively intact humanity. Instead, he let her enjoy the lighter side of life without tempting a worse outcome should she feel the need to punish him for trying to fix her. After all, she’d done much the same when her mother died.

The subterfuge was messy but necessary, especially with credible threats against her in this war the humans insist upon waging. His ear was attuned to the array of heartbeats throughout the club, the loud music not enough to dull his hybrid senses. Vampires had a slow, dull throb when compared to the hearty pound of a werewolf, not that they’d find themselves in the Abattoir without some pressing business that was sure to involve him. Same with the witches, and only Lizzie’s let out the fast-paced thrum of both full blood and magic.

Humans, though, they seemed to be threading in from the edges of the crowd — and aiming for the blondes at the center. Feeling the world slow around him, Klaus launched himself down from the balcony, mindless to the vampires hurrying to get everyone out of his way. None of them caught the true danger, however, until the strobe light caught on the wooden stakes being pulled from jackets.

Klaus managed to snap three necks before they got close, but Caroline was too busy blocking access to Lizzie to notice the woman stretching a strong arm toward her. Feeling like he was underwater, he watched as Lizzie’s fear overwhelmed her, and the hand grasped around her mother’s wrist glowed red. Pain seemed to lance through Caroline, and she lost her focus to fend off the attack she still hadn’t seen coming.

The familiar scent of her blood filled the air, and all Klaus could see was red.

Later, he would confirm that the scratch down Caroline’s back healed perfectly, that she’d survived the bold offensive he hadn’t stopped. Even later than that, he would acknowledge his plan had been far from perfect, without even the veneer of success to defend it when her humanity was eventually restored.

But in the moment, the thought of losing her to his own carelessness was too much. Clearly, holding onto his humanity wasn’t working the way he’d envisioned; in fact, his rage at the sight of a stake piercing her skin felt like a liability. He processed this in the span of a second, and by the time the human’s bloody head hit the dance floor, his decision had been made.

The world already saw him as a ruthless monster. He might as well give it to them, and he’d make them bleed for daring to harm her. He didn’t need his humanity for that.

With his fangs bared and blood dripping from his hand, he certainly looked the part. When Caroline met his eyes, however, something must have alerted her to the change. Having torn the stake from her back and moved Lizzie to the safe space between them, her head tilted to the side as she appraised him with a new appreciation. She gave a sharp grin of joy and arousal, her tongue slipping from beneath her fangs to wet the corner of her lips. “It’s about time.”

9. liz forbes — she gets points taken off for being a cop but rip girl we share a nickname

8. alaric — the only reason he’s this low on the list is bc of matt davis. also. why did he let his previous student have his babies. what the fuck

7. elena — self explanatory, she’s whiny and annoying and gives big “all lives matter�� vibes i don’t fuck with her

6. katherine — look. i love her. she’s iconic. (see: profile pic) but i think y’all let her get away with a LOT in the show that you wouldn’t have if it was elena who did it

5. caroline — human caroline SUCKS but vamp caroline is superior and she’s truly one of the best vampires in the show, her control is amazing

4. damon — season one damon actions are 🤢 but his attitude is 👀 but the character development is 10/10 he became the favorite salvatore in season 3

3. kai parker — easily one of the best “villains” of the show, i hated jo and did not shed one tear when she died so. team kai <3

1. bonnie — i think y’all know why bonnie is #1. she’s literally the reason anybody survived as long as they did & even tho i didn’t like her behavior in season 1/2, she ended up being the only character to have consistent, good development that followed the show amazingly. julie plec fucked her character over so much and i hate her for that bc i can’t imagine all of the potential bonnie had before she ruined it
