Krone: When doing laundry, different types of personalities come out…I wonder how [Norman] dries clothes…ah~ so gentle, he dries the clothes very neatly~ The style of drying, the spacing between the clothes, it looks beautiful! Don: A genius is a is a genius no matter what he does, huh? Norman: It's nothing like that! I just like doing laundry. The snowy white clothes being blown by the breeze is a sight I really love. That's why I try to be gentle when hanging the laundry.
(TPN Sound Drama - Sister Krone's Welcome to Grace Field House)
(Chapter 19 | Chapter 34)
I love the choice to have this conversation while they're carrying out their daily chores for the practical pretense of keeping up appearances for Isabella and their younger siblings, but with the sound drama in mind, it's also a way for Norman to occupy his hands and recenter himself, something he probably took a bit of extra solace in every day during those three weeks.
(S1 Episode 6 | S1 Episode 11)
Yet again a tradeoff of losing Demizu's little details for being able to see that billowing come to life onscreen with the close-ups on them to compensate for a single dramatic wideshot, along with the pragmatic purpose of more bluntly foreshadowing the importance of the hangers in the escape and Norman openly musing to himself about Ray's true intentions, but in keeping with the choice to axe the inner monologues, I think it works well.

#I see him as the doing-laundry guy #folding every single piece of clothing to perfection while his mind does the most exciting things #(same with Ray and cooking and Emma with cleaning. but pshhht!) (via @officersnickers)
100% behind Norman being the main one to handle laundry duties ever since listening to one of the anime-original sound dramas and having this exchange come up:
Krone: When doing laundry, different types of personalities come out…I wonder how [Norman] dries clothes…ah~ so gentle, he dries the clothes very neatly~ The style of drying, the spacing between the clothes, it looks beautiful! This way, the wind flows into clothes properly, and the sunlight is shared uniformly. An efficient way of drying clothes. Good job! Gilda: Norman's way of doing laundry is also perfect. Don: A genius is a genius no matter what he does, huh? Norman: It's nothing like that! I just like doing laundry. The snowy white clothes being blown by the breeze is a sight I really love. That's why I try to be gentle when hanging the laundry.
Emma and Ray help of course, just like they all help with cleaning and, if need be, step up for cooking, though it usually falls to Ray due to personal interest and because it's part of his love language. Likewise, by default laundry falls to Norman, though it's more for how it keeps him moving (as the least athletically inclined of the three, it fits his speed more). For Emma, I feel like she'd be in charge of shopping.
Norman on a day off in post canon would probably just go crazy for a while and work anyway. If Emma takes his laptop or whatever? Housework.
Then he'll crash to bed and sleep
#feel like this came up in our DMs a few times too lol#cleaning I feel is pretty equally split between them but maybe they have areas they typically lead on?#like the kitchen is Ray's domain so he's usually the one to keep it clean for regular daily chores#if they had a bigger get-together or party they'd all pitch in to clean it#Post-Canon#Post-Canon AU#Norrayemma#Norman#Emma#Ray#FSS Chatter#TPN Sound Dramas#Sister Krone's Welcome to Grace Field House#TPN S1#Introduction Arc#Escape Arc

Of course more works will be coming in the near future so you better stick around. And if anyone would like to work with me on a sonic fanfiction, consider me already in. The only thing you should know is that I might be a procrastinating person, but thankfully I've never missed an assignment or project from a dealine.
Welp- that was all to say about me- hopefully I will be able to bring more content to share here! If I am offline, then I am most likely around GI amino or reading fanfiction on AO3.
Stay all pleasant and sound! Promise- I don’t bite! If you want to shoot me a message go ahead. I may be at first closed, but once I feel someone close I am getting quite bumpy and noisy, heh.
Oops- have to go- GOTTA GO FAST!

Questions about Legravalima, Sonju and Leuvis's Father
If he was raising Legravalima to be his heir, why did she kill him?
In the two instances we actually see him in the series, the king is shown with Legravalima. The first: when he has Sonju's teacher arrested, Legravalima and her father are standing side-by-side, and the second: when Legravalima remembers her life, showing her at a younger age hunting while her father looks on as well as the moment she murders him.
It is established that Leuvis had zero interest in politics and basically shoved his royal duties on others so he could relive his youth for the next 1000 years. Sonju was much younger, further in line to the throne than his older siblings. Shirai confirmed that three other unnamed and unseen siblings existed besides them. If they were older, perhaps they were the original heirs, and Legravalima only got the status as heir due to their deaths (murder or otherwise).
Regardless, there was no law in demon royalty that only allows for male succession - nobody brought it up when Mujika was put forward for the role of queen - so Legravalima would not have been in competition with Leuvis (if he'd given a shit) or her own father for power.
So, why kill her father if she was guaranteed to inherit the throne on his death anyway? Was she simply so greedy that she got impatient and just hastened the inevitable? Or did something happen to put her claim in jeopardy?
I don't know, it would have been nice to see more royal court life drama with the siblings and their parents. Everybody loves crazy rich people drama.
How did Legravalima spin his death to the nobles/the people?
As ruthless and openly violent as she was, it would not have been very wise of Legravalima to admit to killing the ruler of her people in cold blood as she did. She had to be cunning as well as ruthless, protect her image and status, etc.
Did she frame someone else for it? It wouldn't do to have it be some unknown assailant that nobody could ever find, that would draw suspicion to herself. She couldn't frame Leuvis - he was away 99% of the time by the sound of things and everyone knew how disinterested he was in power, so he would have no motive. Sonju, though present at court more often, was likely still a child when it happened, and not a threat to Legravalima's claim to the throne. It had to be somebody powerful, a thorn in her side perhaps, someone she could do without and could dispose of without causing too much political, economic or social upset.
Did Leuvis and Sonju know Legravalima was the culprit?
Sonju considered his sister a monster for a long time, most likely since childhood. Based on her personality alone, he would suspect her among other enemies to the throne.
Leuvis would have more intimate knowledge of his sister's desires and what she's capable of, so he would almost definitely believe her to be the culprit - and do absolutely nothing about it lol.
How did Leuvis and Sonju feel about their father's death?
Of course, this would require us to know what their father was like aside from a few tiny snatches that tell us very very little.
We can infer that he was similar to Legravalima (perhaps the apple didn't fall far from the tree) as the two are seen together as a furious Sonju tries to defend his teacher as the elder is being taken away. They look down at him with the same coldness, indicating that they were both ruthless authoritarians that cared only about themselves.
So there was definitely resentment and anger there on Sonju's part, at least for what happened to his teacher. His feelings towards his father and subsequently his death were probably complicated at best. I think it would have come as a big shock to young Sonju, who now suddenly has to contend with his monster sister as the highest authority in his life.
Leuvis knew his father for far longer than Sonju, so he could have seen sides to the king that Sonju never did. Perhaps the king was different in his younger days, changing slowly over time into a more ruthless and power-hungry demon.
As with all things, Leuvis likely put any reservations he had with his father to one side as long as he was able to do what he did best. Perhaps they had a better understanding of each other, a mutual respect - Leuvis was one of the king's best fighters and a key player in the war against humanity. He was useful, so the king likely let him do as he pleased so long as he stayed a loyal and effective soldier. With Leuvis's cunning mind, I think he would have made a shrewd and deadly politician if he had had the interest, so maybe the king preferred this arrangement.
Did his death make Leuvis conflicted? Could the memory of his death and Leuvis's inaction regarding it be one of the things that prompt him to act later in the series? It should be.
Were the sons distant, indifferent, longing for affection? Did their father's death make them think of him differently? I want family angst goddamnit!
WHO THE HELL WAS HIS QUEEN?
I SWEAR WE LITERALLY NEVER HEAR A MENTION OF THE ROYAL CHILDRENS' MOTHER AT ALL. DID SHE DIE GIVING BIRTH TO SONJU? WAS SONJU TREATED BADLY BECAUSE OF IT? WAS DEMON DADDY THE TYWIN LANNISTER OF THE TPN UNIVERSE??
#so many questions I WANT A SPIN OFF WITH JUST THE DEMONS#GIVE ME DEMON CONTENT#TPN#The Promised Neverland#Thoughts#Leuvis TPN#Sonju TPN#Legravalima TPN

TPN S02E02 - initial thoughts (anime-only)

I loved how ep2 used a similar sequence of shots to immediately bring our minds to conny's shipment and further connect us to Emma's association / state of mind.
+ waterdrop of death continues, glad to have it back
.
. “Humans outside”
I also talked about this in the video, but I find it interesting that we’ve heard two different insights from Krone and Sonju. “Humans on equal footing outside” vs. “there are no humans outside of the farms”. I really emphasized the “equal footing” thing in video, which also still does seems weird to me, and I can come to the following conclusions:
Krone just thinks they’re equals because they’re higher up the hierarchy than she is, but in reality even the top of the farms are oppressed by the demons as well.
for some reason, even after being heavily outnumbered by demons, humans found a way to be close to equal footing --- I mentioned breeding the humans for them in the video, and I still think that could be part of it but I also had a different thought: it’s interesting that it’s 1000 years - sad, my 2000 years theory didn’t hold up - because that implies 1000 years of technological advancement (phones, the camera, electronics are clearly a thing) still happened in the demon “world” (and we’ve never seen demons use them, they seem to be a human thing). The highest up the hierarchy we’ve seen happen to be the scientists. That’s why I think it’s plausible that humans are smarter than demons (cue the fascination and desert of smart people) and they provide technological advancement and food, and in exchange the top of that chain in the humans can “co-exist”. But we haven’t seen a lot of demon society so it’s hard to say if they’re just not as inventive as humans. And even if that WERE the case, I don’t think that’s enough to call it “equal”, it’s still a massive power difference. Though apparantly, SOMEHOW, the struggle used to be equal 1000 years ago, so- like I think “We’ll kill you” is still something that’s likely to be the winning argument even if there was the chance to be on equal grounding again.
But now that I’m thinking about it, even taking the “equal” thing away, it’s still contradicting. Krone specifically talked about the humans delivering goods, which are technically “outside” and still “in the farm (system)” - but they are definitely not on equal standing. So I don’t think she means the other working parts of the forms.
So I just wonder if there are humans who are benefitting from this system in some way for damning others. Hello ominous guy from the OP.
He doesn’t seem too oppressed, going to be honest.
It’s possible I guess that the demons wanted to make sure that there wouldn’t be an uprising by having humans “on their side” and the higher ups, not concerned for the humans further down the food chain, agreed, thus making it a deal and “equal”. Since they can’t kill every human because they’re their precious food, so it’s a good idea to keep them in check and not have them hate them actively, but I think demons could still stop a human uprising??? It might be unnecessary drama though.
But even then, you can’t really say they keep up a good relationship with the higher up humans to make people further down cooperate, since they are driven by existential angst (become a mom or die). They know humans will cooperate them if you threaten them with death.
So I’m just really confused what makes the higher ups so different.
inb4 it was just Krone’s subjective knowledge and I make a fool of myself but again, ominous guy from the OP seems like he’s really enjoying this (assumingly high) standing he has.
I’M JUST CONFUSED.
I don’t understand politics, clearly.
.
. The Promised Exposition
[someone talking about how it was portrayed boringly]
yeah, I imagined some sort of visual to go along with the exposition bc the music sounded so fairytale / telling ish but then again, the anime never really showed things that were explained; and let the viewer imagine it.
So now I really have no idea if it's like... actual geographical separation (#more walls time) or like,, parallel worlds?? I feel like taking away the visuals kind of leaves more room for interpretations, and imagination but I still agree that it's sad they don't really play with imaginary things. it's kinda grounded in LA techniques in that aspect I feel.
About the reveal itself: I didn’t expect the potential solution to be revealed so soon, and it was different to what I expected. I’m still a little confused on how the demon vs human fighting was so balanced?? did demons use to be more like Sonju and Mujika, because then I can kind of get it I guess? Like humans have a chance then.
Or where they all just dumb dog demons bumping against trees because then I get it too pff-
Either way, as touched upon higher up: The demon world seems to have some classical human inventions. Does that mean that
a) the demon world just happens to have the people in it that made those inventions?
b) someone else invented them and there’s a similar technical progress in the “human world”?
c) there’s no crossing between the worlds (according to Sonju), so it can’t be that the inventions are from the human world, I think. I wonder if we’ll see it and how different it’ll be from the demon world’s humans inventions.
.
The more I think about it, the more interesting I find this potential solution. It still seems a little too magical, but the setup is already magical and as my friends pointed out, it’s not just a matter of “go over there and be safe”.
Breaking the promise could start the demons being enraged at it and breaking it too, and the hunting could re-start.
Maybe it could be missed or just not noticed if just our group left, but Emma has learned nothing from her compromise in S1 and now plans to take EVERY CHILD, apparantly, probably soon to be replaced with every human. And that’s definitely not going to go down well with the demons.
I wonder if the eventual conclusion will be to save a small group of people, paralleling S1′s conflict. Save everyone vs. saving those you can right now and coming to terms with the sacrifices you made (which technically, hasn’t happened yet. For Emma it’s not like she gave them up, she’s going back for them. But as this story is being setup now, I think it’s highly impossible to take every human/every child). Which has pretty dark implications! You might get out, but the cycle will just start again as long as any humans exist in the demons’ world; the suffering will continue. Escaping already likely endangered the humans in charge of the farms, who likely won’t (or can’t in case of the implants in the moms) escape even if there’s a big scale rescue operation (plus good luck with getting everyone while having all demon forces on your back).
But I feel like that’s a more likely resolution than fighting a rebellion against the demons, which would likely have no end and no satisfying resolution. Obviously I’m not really sure where this story will lead and what will have to be done in order to cross over.
If it breaks the “promise” and figurative “wall” between the worlds, it could be damning all of humanity. So I guess the alternative resolution would be that they stay in the demon world, to not risk that, and do their best living a good life there, and also.... probably coming to terms with not being able to save everyone.
It’s also definitely not as satisfying from a storytelling perspective, but there’s a lot of interesting conflicts and dangers being setup.
.
. Sonju
Yeah it was sweet how he was like careful being like "i can't leave this around the kids", and being like "it's hard to say this" when he had to tell them about the rule to the promise or later when he asked Emma if they should not do the gupna thing this time. Like he's honest and direct but still caring and that's sweeto
.
. Mom Gilda
The scene with Emma and Gilda was amazing, it was so funny, but even then the art actually did look intimidating, which I felt they struggled with in S1 sometimes (Emma holding Ray’s hand telling him to never do it again was just like “pff-”) but this was really well done.
It just heavily parallels Isabella trying to tell Emma to become a Mom so that’s??? an interesting thing, that kind of threw me off for a bit.
But maybe that’s just confirming that Gilda is indeed the mom.
i feel like the art in general improved a bit tbh. Obviously with nature and fantastical elements there’s a lot more to MAKE look pretty but idk, it’s just nice!
.
All the stuff surrounding this was so sweet too, Jemima is too precious and panicky Ray as she’s crying is just adorable udshdjs. Also Lani and Thoma being like “can’t leave him alone for 2 seconds, keeps trying to die” is a big mood but also RIP Ray.
.
. RIP Ray
Speaking of RIP Ray......

TPN soundtrack
I’ve been listening to the OST very frequently again due to season 2 now being delayed until 2021 and.. hm, recent manga events. Some songs are very memorable to the point where I can see the anime scene in my head, while others had me think a bit more until a certain scene clicked. Even after re-watching the entire first season multiple times over the past year, there were still a handful of tracks from the OST that I didn't recognize at all. So, I spent an entire night watching all 12 of those episodes (yet again, because what else am i to do during this quarantine) to find where these songs might be hiding. I took note of all of the tracks actually, even those that went unused after some digging around.. and this is the result.
When & where do the wonderful songs of The Promised Neverland play?
Vol.1
Introduction: (im actually surprised how often this one is played)
EP1 (first minute) - When our favorite trio of young kids inspect the gate.
EP1 (10:48-13:10) - After the first game of tag, when the children are near the fence talking about those that left the house and their own personal wishes.
EP3 (9:19-10:21) - While Emma finds the tracker's location on Carol.
EP6 (3:59-6:09) - When the trio learns about the clues WM left behind via morse code while Don & Gilda enter Isabella's secret room.
EP7 (3:03-4:12) - When Krone tells the kids about the chip attached to the adult's heart.
EP9 (12:52-14:50) - When Ray reveals he never experienced infantile amnesia.
As a Soft Morning Sunrise:
EP1 (2:56-4:25) - While the kids are waking up and getting ready for breakfast.
Tag:
EP1 (7:46-8:28) - While Norman is chasing after Emma. The song itself actually starts around its 40sec mark.
EP4 (5:24-6:12) - When playing tag in teams. Skips the very beginning of the song again.
Studying for Exams:
EP1 (5:13-6:21) - While taking the morning test.
Cold-hearted Isabella:
EP2 (11:25-12:20) - While Isabella questions Emma in the hallway about her odd behavior and they talk about Conny.
EP4 (15:06-16:17) - When the note about the rope is slipped under Isabella's door and Gilda goes to talk with Krone.
Training for Escape:
EP3 (14:14-15:18) - When the trio first test the children's abilities by playing tag and gives them advice.
Tight Tension:
EP1 (17:50-19:00) - When the demons are talking about the farms and we learn Isabella is an enemy.
Isabella's Lullaby: (this song is perfection!)
EP1 (14:13-14:32) - The melody is hummed by Isabella while taking Conny to the gate.
EP1 (19:53-21:20) - After Emma & Norman return to the house and get the idea to escape. The full song is played this time.
EP10 (10:32-12:50) - During Norman's shipment scene after he stops Emma from hurting herself and says goodbye to her.
EP10 (20:12-20:37) - The melody is sung briefly by Ray.
EP11 (9:54-10:19) - Isabella hums the melody again while putting the babies to sleep.
EP12 (17:31-18:20 & 18:48-19:44) - The melody is hummed by Isabella and then Ray during the flashback. After the flashback, the melody is heard again and then transitions into "TPN Main Theme 2."
Demon's Manifestation:
EP1 (17:40-17:49) - When the demons first appear. It actually transitions right into "Tight Tension" rather smoothly.
Emma's Sorrow:
EP4 (11:08-14:12) - When Don & Gilda are told the "truth" in the library and join the escape plan. Continues when Ray questions Norman after in the hallway and ends while Emma & Gilda chat in their room.
Dancing Krone:
EP3 (16:45-18:08) - While Krone joins the kids in a game of tag.
63194 (Emma’s theme): (personal favorite! i pray it plays whenever we get to the Goldy Pond arc)
EP2 (17:50-20:32) - During the trio's conversation near the wall, when Norman gets Ray to join the escape plan despite Emma being so adamant about not leaving any child behind.
EP8 (19:06-20:55) - After Isabella cleanly breaks Emma's leg.
Vol.2
TPN (Main Theme 1):
EP9 (16:22-18:37) - When Norman finds the pen and finally climbs the wall.
EP11 (16:57-20:10) - From the end of Norman's letter to Emma, while she starts the fire and ends as the kids prepare to scale the wall.
GF House:
EP2 (8:19-9:22) - When Isabella returns with Naila sleeping in her arms and Norman suspects the use of tracking devices.
EP4 (8:31-9:22) - While the trio is walking up the stairs to the library before talking with Don & Gilda.
81194 (Ray's theme):
EP5 (2:41-5:29) - When Ray confirms himself as Isabella's spy.
Tension:
EP1 (16:31-16:59) - After Emma drops Little Bunny at the gate.
EP6 (7:21-9:05) - Upon Don & Gilda finding Little Bunny in the secret room along with Isabella's communicator while the trio are questioning the morse code for "promise" upstairs in the library.
EP7 (12:28-13:55) - When Krone catches Emma & Norman keeping secrets after their conversation.
EP10 (2:01-2:50) - When Norman draws out the plantation's map.
Corpse Found: ???
Unused. Yes, this track is actually different from the one played in the anime when Norman sees Conny's dead body.
Krone's Scheme:
EP3 (6:47-7:25) - While Krone is in her room talking to herself about getting Isabella fired.
EP4 (3:40-4:13) - In her room again, after being scolded by Isabella.
Existence of an Insider:
EP5 (8:40-11:06) - During the later half of Ray and Norman's conversation about Ray actually being a double agent. Continues as Ray leaves into the hallway and shows off his wonderful slasher smile while Norman is thinking on the bed.
Emma's Agony:
EP2 (2:45-4:42) - When Norman & Emma are talking about what they saw and heard the previous night at the gate.
EP5 (14:45-16:44) - When Emma calls Ray's bluff about him actually accepting the idea of having everyone escape, then threatening him not to sacrifice anyone for their sake ever again.
EP6 (11:14-12:40) - When Don confronts the trio in the dinning hall about their lies and demands the whole truth.
EP11 (3:26-5:24) - When Ray reveals his plan about setting the house on fire and suggests escaping at night.
Isabella's Lullaby (No Vocal Version): ???
Unused. It's still pretty though.
Krone on the GF String:
EP8 (6:22-9:48) - During Krone's flashbacks and her final moments.
TPN (Pf solo Version):
EP4 (18:27-21:16) - While Ray and Norman discuss a traitor's possible motives, continues during Emma's talk with Norman about saving the traitor, ends when Norman calls out Ray being said traitor after discovering the rope under the bed was taken.
EP6 (17:00-18:55) - When Emma tells Norman about a potential plan to catch Isabella off-guard. Norman then finds the lighter fuel Ray has been hiding.
EP10 (5:09-7:50) - During Norman's flashback of when he was sick and used the cup phones to talk with Emma & Ray.
EP10 (16:52-19:16) - In the infirmary when Emma refuses Isabella's offer to become a mom.
Vol.3
TPN (Main Theme 2): (very similar to the previous main theme, but apparently this one has different cords at the end. for the life of me i honestly can't tell the difference myself)
EP12 (19:45-21:09) - While the kids are running free and Isabella returns to Phil and the other young children. Ends as the escapees witness their first sunrise outside.
Prison Break: (second favorite!)
EP12 (5:55-8:41) - Starts when Isabella alerts headquarters about the escape, continues when the kids show off the training they've accomplished in order to cross the cliff, which Don then demonstrates.
Strategy for Escape: ???
Unused. Composer Takahiro Obata imagined the trio planning their escape. (it's a shame because i actually really like this one.)
Emma's Determination:
EP6 (13:30-15:50) - After Don punches Norman & Ray. Everyone then apologizes to each other.
EP9 (9:50-11:15) - When Emma gives Ray the idea to break his arm and get sick so neither of them get shipped.
Grandma and Demons:
EP3 (10:46? 11:05-11:22) - During Isabella's nightly check in with Grandma Sarah while the demons talk about the harvest. The first couple seconds sound different in the anime than the actual track.
EP11 (7:30-9:02) - Upon Ray pouring lighter fuel on himself.
Isabella's Lullaby (Mandolin Version):
EP12 (14:13-14:40 & 15:27-17:30) - During Isabella's flashback of Leslie.
Analysis for Escape: ???
Unused. Composer thought of the trio analyzing their situation.
22194 (Norman's theme): (if this song doesn't make you tear up, you're lying)
EP7 (5:28-7:33) - The five discussing Krone's offer about receiving more information. (i had no memory of hearing it this early, but surprise)
EP9 (5:17-6:50) - When Norman fetches a glass of water. And then drops it. Because oh god, this boy just realized that he's dying tomorrow.
EP12 (1:28-4:00) - When Phil is told the truth about the house.
Their Own Thoughts: ???
Unused. Composer thought about Conny who didn't want to leave.
Reasoning for Escape:
EP3 (4:08-5:45) - In Isabella's office when she informs Krone that some of the kids found out the secret.
Ray's Retaliation: (third favorite! i also enjoy it more than his actual theme, oops)
EP8 (13:41-15:27) - Upon Ray getting locked inside Krone's old room by Isabella, though he eventually escapes. Ends before mother dearest catches up with Emma & Norman at the wall.
EP11 (11:30-13:25) - When Isabella enters the burning dinning hall, while the children escape the house. Ends when poor mother finds Emma's ear and realizes she's been fooled by a bunch of children.
TPN (Epf solo Version): ???
Unused. Played in the drama CD though, apparently?
Bonus. If you thought the lullaby was played more, then you're not entirely wrong. Many of the tracks include the same melody:
Isabella's Lullaby [all of it, of course]
Emma's Sorrow [once from 0:24, (maybe again in the middle i think?) and then 2:02]
63194 (Emma's theme) [1:35 - 2:12]
TPN (Main theme 1 & 2) [once from 1:08, then again from 2:18, and finally 3:30]
Emma's Agony [the entire song is like a slowed down version]
Isabella's Lullaby (no vocal version) [all of it]
TPN (Pf solo version) [all of it]
Prison Break [once from 0:51 then again after 1:45]
Emma's Determination [slightly at 0:26, more noticeable at 1:28]
Isabella's Lullaby (Mandolin version) [all of it]
Ray's Retaliation [1:26 - 2:18]
TPN (Epf solo version) [all of it]
So, there we go. Perhaps others might find this as interesting as I did. If not, then no big deal. It allowed me to watch season one again, so I can't complain. The wait for next season might have grown longer, but that shall not stop me from talking about the anime. Here's hoping we can hear those unused tracks in future seasons as well.

To Listen and To Understand [a TPN fanfic]
(NorEmmaWeek2019 day #1, prompt: Drama/Breakdown) -.-.- Rating: T Pair: NorEmma Wordcount: 1k+ Tag(s): Modern AU, Couple Fighting, Anxiety Issues, Fluff & Hurt/Comfort Summary: Norman and Emma had their first couple fight, and Norman's growing anxiety didn't help. A/N: Cross-posted on AO3 -.-.-
The neighborhood was peacefully quiet. The morning was still earl enough for a weekend. Yet, in one of the apartments in the building, it was already loud with a pair of engaged couple arguing.
“All I want is for you to contact me every once in a while! Just send text or something. Can you understand that I’m very worried about you?!”
“You’re the one who need to understand that I am too an adult! I’m not a kid that you should be worrying about every other hour!”
“I really care about you, Emma… That’s why—”
“NO! You always say that you’ll listen but you’re always being paranoid again!”
“You’re often coming home late, even almost morning! How am I supposed not to worry?! You the crime rate in big cities like here are—”
“I have FRIENDS, Norman!”
“And I KNOW! All I want is for you to—”
“NO! STOP! We’re only going back and forth again! I think we really need a break now.”
Norman sighed frustratedly. He racked his mind to find the right words. But before he could come up with anything, his fiancé already grabbed her jacket and strolled towards the door.
“Wha Wait, Emma! Where are you going?!”
Emma paused and forced a deep breath before managing the words out through her gritted teeth. “Taking a fresh air, Norman.”
With just that simple explanation, the girl walked outside without sparing a glance back.
Norman sighed again. He knew that couple fighting each other is supposed to be a normal thing. Being a couple is like mixing up two different minds, personalities, and ideals, and somehow making it work in the process. Besides, people argue all the time, after all. But still, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t in the least tiring and frustrating to having fight with the person he loved the most.
‘It’s okay. Emma will come back before I realize it.’ Norman tried to calm himself.
Turned out, calming himself while having a fight with his lover was an almost impossible feat, as Norman bitterly found out. Just some hours after Emma gone, his mind already filled with the worst possibilities.
‘Is Emma okay out there? Did she bring her phone? Did she bring enough money? Oh no, her phone is being charged in the nightstand. She didn’t have a phone with her! What if she needs an emergency or something? Should I go out and search for her? But what if she becomes even more upset at me for coming after her? But she might really need her phone! I don’t even know where she is right now. Oh no! She could be having an accident and all injured up somewhere and she wouldn’t have her phone to contact anyone—’
Norman shook his head.
‘No. No. No negative thinking like that. Emma already said I’m always being too paranoid. But I just want her to be safe… I just want to be able to always look after her… But that’s what making her upset, isn’t it? Oh no. What if she got tired of me and really want to break up? But… But… She accepted my proposal. She said yes, back then. It…it…wasn’t my imagination, right? She really said ‘yes,’ right? But that doesn’t mean she couldn’t change her mind anytime. And…and she said about taking a break, right? Oh my God… I really made her upset, didn’t I? I made her so upset that she feels she needs a break from me… I-I’m…I’m making Emma so upset…’
Norman bit his lip. His hand on his coffee cup trembled. Somehow, the thought of upsetting Emma felt even more horrible than the possibility of her wanting to break up with him. He had hurt the girl he loved so much. He had failed her.
Norman still remembered the day he placed that engagement ring on Emma’s finger. The day he asked her to let him become the man who would bring her happiness. The day he expressed his gratefulness for her always being by his side, and sworn that he’ll always be the best for her if she chose him to spend the rest of her life with. He had sworn to her, yet here he was, failing her.
He had failed. He had failed. He had hurt Emma and making her so disappointed and Emma really didn’t deserve this. Emma deserved happiness and someone who could make her happy and maybe it really wasn’t him. Maybe he had been really too presumptuous and just assuming he deserved her. But Emma deserved the best. Emma deserved better than him. Emma should—
“…Norman?”
Came the sound of a door being creaked open. Emma walked inside their shared bedroom. Her eyes immediately flew open.
“N-norman!”
She hurriedly taking off her jacket before prying his fingers from the empty cup on his hand. …’Since when it was empty?’
Emma circled her arms around his shoulders and buried her face in his hair.
“E-emma…?”
“Shh…” Emma mumbled into his ear. Her face pressing on his temple. “It’s okay… I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
Norman could feel her breath tickled his ear. It’s warm. Emma was so warm. Emma always so warm. He relished himself in that warmth and felt his muscles and breathing immediately relaxed. It’s weird. He didn’t even realize that his body was so tense.
“I-I’m sorry…” he muttered.
He brought his arm to return the embrace, wanting give her the same warmth too, wanting her to know how much he treasured her and always grateful for her and—
“I know,” Emma whispered.
He could hear her smile through that kind tone.
“I know,” Emma repeated. “I’m sorry too. For forgetting about your anxiety.”
“It’s not—”
Emma shook her head and pulled back slightly. Her smile was so kind—the same smile that he had fell in love with. Her fingers treading through his hair in placating gesture.
“We’re both got too worked up,” Emma said softly. “Everything’s okay. We both just got too worked up with everything and threw out our piled up frustration to each other. I came to realize it, after I took time to cool my head outside.”
“So…we’re okay?”
“We’re okay.” Emma smiled. “And we need to talk, we’ll talk about it again. But for now, let’s just relax, Norman. It’s weekend, right? We can lazying around until noon,” she giggled.
Norman felt a small smile tugging on his cheeks.
“Mmh…yeah,” he said, before tugging the girl in front of him onto his lap.
Emma laughed, tugging on his nape demandingly before locking their lips in a sweet kiss.
“I love you,” he rasped, with his eyes still closed, still savoring the softness of the pair of lips against his own. “I love you so much.”
“Mhm…” Emma hummed. She broke the kiss and nuzzled her head on the crook of his neck. “I love you too. Always.”
‘Everything’s okay. Everything’s okay for now.’ Norman chanted to himself.
He had the girl of his life in his arms. Everything’s okay and Emma was safe and everything’s okay for now. Everything would continue to be okay. He trusted Emma. He loved her, and he needed to trust her. And if Emma’s sure that they’d be okay, then he had to believe that everything would, somehow.
Norman realized, that he loved this girl too much to ever give up on her, anyway.

#RAYBERT?!?! oh they really love him #and Ray loves them if he accepts this XD #they so have to love it ruining *the mood*™ calling him like this... (via @officersnickers)
kljlkflsd Emma knows she's only going to get away with that one once for full effect so she's got to make it count.
NE does favor Raymond for their playful full-name ultimatums, but ultimately this is them playing the long game to make him open to the usage of Sunray and Chief, which eventually come to be used for more sincere emotional exchanges just as often as thrown into lighthearted banter.
This is key, though. While Ray can be very easy to rile up (and he very much allows himself to be, when it comes to them 🧡🖤🤍), if they pick up on the subtle fluctuations in mood/conversation, they're quick to drop it as they become even more familiar with each other's tells.
#Norman the laundry king! yes yes I so see him putting away stuff and letting his mind wander while doing so #he just loves the smell of fresh and clean laundry... reminds him of old innocent days putting up laundry in his childhood home
Yeeessss I've talked about this before, but after listening to the "Sister Krone's Welcome to Grace Field House" sound drama, specifically this bit:
Krone: When doing laundry, different types of personalities come out…I wonder how [Norman] dries clothes…ah~ so gentle, he dries the clothes very neatly~ The style of drying, the spacing between the clothes, it looks beautiful! This way, the wind flows into clothes properly, and the sunlight is shared uniformly. An efficient way of drying clothes. Good job! Gilda: Norman's way of doing laundry is also perfect. Don: A genius is a is a genius no matter what he does, huh? Norman: It's nothing like that! I just like doing laundry. The snowy white clothes being blown by the breeze is a sight I really love. That's why I try to be gentle when hanging the laundry.
(S1 Episode 6 | S1 Episode 11)
It adds an extra soft layer of intimacy to these scenes for me that I like to think he would carry with him into adulthood to help himself relax and decompress. In the similar way to how Ray falls into being the chef of the trio, Norman falls into handling the bulk of the laundry (and ofc just like NE help Ray out in the kitchen, RE assist Norman with this)
#also love how Emma takes her time realizing the 🤍🧡 #but is the first to initiate it with the boys
Sometimes I go back and forth with this with Emma realizing it earlier but keeping it to herself so the boys have more time to digest and put a name to their feelings so as not to pressure them. She has a very acute emotional awareness.
…except maybe when it comes to herself, lol. Feel like the comparative obliviousness on the matter is the final roadblock for most of her ships with her Type A personality. If she’s aware of it and knows it’s mutual, it’s so hard to see her not just going for it, especially with these two with how badly they can get stuck in their own heads.
(I'm always dropping @salsae fic snippets but ough do I adore this exchange in to have and to hold)
As someone who's made the impossible happen multiple times over, it's all just so unfathomable to Emma when everything is so starkly clear in her mind. She's gonna go for it, unabashed and unwavering.
(But also, "I don't understand how two geniuses could be so stupid," said with the utmost affection lol)
Stealing @just-like-playing-tag's ship chart with a few tweaks but my general leanings for the trio
#ugh this all is so good#couldn't agree more#← to hear this from one of my patron saints of REN who solidified my love of the ship back before I even started this blog‚ 😌🫴💝🖤🧡🤍💖#Snickers my beloved 🖤🧡🤍#Norrayemma#Noremray#can you believe they invented OT3s#Long Post#FSS Chatter#Shipping#Chart#Emma#Norman#Ray#TPN Sound Dramas#Sister Krone's Welcome to Grace Field House#Escape Arc#Post-Canon#Post-Canon AU#TPN AU#TPN Fanfic#Vowsverse AU#𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑑#officersnickers#salsae

Hello!! I'm really sorry, but could you do a summary of the Krone and Isabella light novels? I can't find anywhere to read them. thank you so much!!
No need to apologize, happy to help!
I've talked about the contents of the first light novel here. Almost all of it is available either translated in text or via sound dramas with English subtitles. The exception is the "NER in Bird Cages" story, which is only available in English as a summary.
I've provided a general overview of the second light novel here, as well a link to the masterlist of TPN content for the English-speaking fandom. The first half is dedicated to Isabella, and the second half to Krone, though if you've read chapter 181.2, you'll already be familiar with most of it.
If one of the stories is part of the content of a post, I'll usually tag it as light novels, the title of the light novel in question, and the title of the specific story. (e.g., TPN Light Novels + Moms' Song of Remembrance + The Starry Sky and Leslie's List)
Here's all the light novels laid out with their story tags (with the exception of the fourth one because I've only read the half that's translated):
Light Novel 1: A Letter from Norman
• "The Ghost Incidents at Grace Field House" - Norman reminiscences about his earliest memory with Emma and Ray, when they were about three or four, trying to solve the mystery of the spooky occurrences around the house. • "The Day Emma Cried" - Norman recalls an incident when he was about seven and became terribly ill retrieving Emma’s handkerchief during a rainstorm. Thinking he’s on death’s doorstep, with Isabella’s permission (to both appease Emma and test Ray’s loyalty), Emma and Ray go out to find the miracle cure, a white flower that only blooms at night. • "NER in Bird Cages" - Norman muses how he's never seen Ray cry before he remembers the incident where they rescued an injured bird sometime after Emma's ninth birthday. Ray deals with the grief of not being able to save his beloved older sister, Susan, if he wants to save Emma's and Norman's lives. • "A Gift from the 39th Girl" - The Grace Field kids secretly work on putting together a gift for Norman’s eleventh birthday.
Light Novel 2: Moms' Song of Remembrance
• "The Starry Sky and Leslie's List" - Isabella's story where she remembers helping Leslie with a list of goals he set out to accomplish over the course of two days before he's shipped out. She also reflects on her relationships with Ray and Sarah. • "Searching for the Skies of Freedom" - Krone's story; chapter 181.2 is a retelling of this.
Light Novel 3: Records of Comrades
• "Two Paths" - The story of how Lucas and Yuugo's group acquired the tea set we see Yuugo with in the bunker, interspersed with scenes of Lucas interacting with Emma and Yuugo interacting with Ray during the present timeline. • "Two Wills" - Gillian and Nigel's story of their earlier days at Goldy Pond when they both lost their sisters, Lala and Emilia. • "Two Destinies" - The story of how Mujika and Sonju met and how Leuvis inadvertently ended the farm system and thousand-year promise because he was bored.
Light Novel 4: Films of Memories
• "The Days to Celebrate" • "Operation Stormy Night" - The Grace Field children reminiscence about the night their older siblings helped them feel safe during a particularly bad storm. • "Ray and Conny" - The Grace Field kids are telling Emma about their life at Grace Field house when Conny comes up. Ray recalls to himself how he helped three-year-old Conny adjust to sleeping in the larger shared bedrooms with some indirect help from Susan. It's a story only he and Norman know now. • "The Chess Proverb" - Ray teaches Norman how to play chess, and Emma and Norman join in a match with Ray against Isabella. Serves as a metaphor for how each of them approaches a problem and how they balance each other out when they work together. • "Don and Gilda" • "The Guiding Star" - The story that explains how the trio got on the roof for the chapter 119 cover art and the comfort they each draw from the stars.
Finally, here's my general tag navigation page that's hopefully accessible on mobile as well as desktop.
#if not ig I'll have to make an actual post instead#been meaning to do that for all my short-form essay posts/longer responses#in the event people want have an easier time sorting through those without having to scroll through the entire FSS Chatter tag#FSS Asks#FSS Chatter#The Promised Neverland#TPN Light Novels#A Letter from Norman#Moms' Song of Remembrance#The Starry Sky and Leslie's List#Searching for the Skies of Freedom#TPN 181.2#Records of Comrades#Films of Memories#The Guiding Star#TPN Isabella#TPN Krone#Long Post#TPN 119#The Chess Proverb#The Ghost Incidents at Grace Field House#The Day Emma Cried#NER in Bird Cages#A Gift from the 39th Girl#TPN Two Paths#TPN Two Wills#TPN Two Destinies#TPN Ray and Conny (Light Novel Story)#probably ended up being way longer of an answer than you wanted anon my bad

WHERE are you reading the light novels ohmigoodness
In addition to sound dramas and links I mentioned in this post, @1000sunnygo has graciously compiled what I believe is the most extensive master list of TPN material in the English-speaking fandom: https://1000sunnygo.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-promised-neverland-masterlist.html
Love the symmetry of these covers.
I already touched on what can be found in A Letter from Norman, and Sunny already outlined what can be found in the fourth one, so I’ll just briefly go over the second and even more briefly touch on the third since I haven’t read it in its entirety yet. (gotta savor the content 👌😩)
☆ The second light novel, Moms’ Song of Remembrance, released in January 2019, is split into two stories:
1. “The Starry Sky and Leslie’s List” (translated by c72684 here)
Isabella remembers helping Leslie with a list of goals he set out to accomplish before leaving Grace Field two days before he’s shipped out. It’s book-ended by segments set on January 15, 2046, where Isabella briefly chats with Phil, reflects on her relationship with Ray, and finds new purpose now that her children have proven she was wrong about escape being impossible.
(It’s roughly 52 pages in Word at 12 point Times New Roman font single spaced if one is wondering about the time commitment.)
2. “Searching for the Skies of Freedom” (translated by @standreamy and 14thNeah; many thanks!) (It’s roughly 64 pages in Word using the aforementioned standard)
This was eventually turned into chapter 181.2 that features Krone during her first month of training to be a sister candidate where she reunites with her elder sister Cecile. The gist of the story is kept the same, however, the novel also:
Confirms sister candidates have the electronic chip surgery the day they arrive at HQ.
Expands upon the training sister candidates go through, specifically incorporating scenes of self-defense training and one on medical training. It’s also noted that cooking is not a priority for sisters during their first regiment of training; that’s only if they retrain to become one of the kitchen staff, which is one path of retraining they can take in the event they can’t secure a sister position at one of the plants. Others are teachers, child caretakers, and doctors/surgeons. (The better to keep them stratified and make it more difficult to fight the system.)
Has more scenes between Krone and Cecile.
Briefly looks into Grandma’s thoughts during the panel where she holds the embroidery with the map of HQ on it as a trophy.
Briefly features the scene in chapter 23/S1e07 where Smee gives Krone the Minerva pen.
☆ The third light novel, Records of Comrades, released in October 2020, is split into a prologue and three stories:
1. “Two Paths”: A story about Yugo and Lucas’ time at Glory Bell. 2. “Two Wills”: The story of Nigel and Gillian’s first few days at Goldy Pond. Nigel’s sister, Lala, and Gillian’s sister, Emilia, who are both briefly shown in chapter 77 are featured in here.
3. “Two Destinies”: The story of how Sonju and Mujika first met. Legravalima, Leuvis, and Yverk also appear in here.
(The document I have is 133 pages in Word at 14 point Verdana font single spaced.)
#The Promised Neverland#Yakusoku no Neverland#TPN#TPN Light Novels#Moms' Song of Remembrance#Records of Comrades#FSS Chatter#FSS Asks#amantesmortem#Long Post#The Starry Sky and Leslie's List#Searching for the Skies of Freedom#TPN Two Paths#TPN Two Wills#TPN Two Destinies#Pre-Canon#TPN 077#Yuugo#Krone#Isabella#Lucas#Nigel#Gillian#Sonju#Mujika#Lala#Emilia#as always thanks be to Sunny for everything she's done for this fandom#and to Dreamy and Neah as well 🙏🙏🙏#also VIZ. Feel like there's a strong possibility you came across this in your struggle (if so, apologies for being repetitive), but the English translation I have of the introduction and first two chapters can be found here courtesy of @1000sunnygo in the fourth section of this masterlist: https://1000sunnygo.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-promised-neverland-masterlist.html
The first and second chapters are also available as sound dramas, along with the fourth one (full playlist here; also features two anime-original dramas: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdbv2DE8bFL6F_4Awi1UFcGA5mMcUFZBu)

Story 2, “The Day Emma Cried” (full with bookends preceding and following the main portion set toward the end of the series):

Story 4, “The Gift from the 39th Girl” (Part 1 of 4):

For the third story, “NER inside the bird cage,” which heavily features their older sister Susan, there’s a google doc available on the masterlist that features a rough translation of it, as well as this summary provided by @tempodreams: :https://temporoom.tumblr.com/post/637514854601834496/hi-im-a-big-tpn-fan-whos-dying-to-read-a-letter
