So let's say that a key part of being human, a key part of BEING, is the continued questioning of the universe. We wonder if we have purpose, we search for the answer to life's questions about God, the afterlife, and what it all really means to BE to EXIST.
Now, if we take for granted the knowledge that a ghost is the past energy of a person- their soul if you will - when you combine that with man's innate curiosity and desire for meaning in existence, it only makes sense that we as people would seek to find ghosts and spirits. At the end of the day, the hunt for ghosts is a hunt for evidence of the divine.
So to all the ghost hunters out there, I gotta ask:
Why are you looking for proof of God in a dank basement?
agatha agate has a little spot on the top of her head where her fur is white and it’s very thin and the pink of her skin is a little bit visible all the time. turns out she can get sunburnt there
One of my favourite questions for figuring out a character’s motivations is which qualities they most fear being assigned to them. Are they afraid (consciously or unconsciously) of being seen as stupid? Ungrateful? Weak? Incompetent? Lazy? Cowardly? Intimidating? Like they actually care? etc.
It’s such a fun way to explore into who they are, why they do what they do, what they don’t do out of fear, and how they might be affected by the events of the story. And I love when characters have negative motivations—trying to avoid something (in this case, being seen a particular way) as much as they’re trying to achieve a goal.
